Abstract This paper proposes a fuzzy PI-based Maximum Torque Per Ampere (MTPA) control for Permanent Magnet-Assisted Synchronous Reluctance Motor (PMASynRM). The aim is to address issues such as overshooting and slow response in the operation of the PMASynRM by optimizing MTPA control under traditional PI using a fuzzy PI control algorithm. This approach enhances the system’s responsiveness and disturbance rejection capabilities. The article builds a simulation model for the maximum torque-to-current ratio control of PMASynRM using fuzzy PI control in MATLAB/Simulink, comparing it with traditional PI control. Simulation results indicate that the fuzzy PI motor control system exhibits lower overshoot, faster response speed, and better robustness compared to traditional PI control.
