Linen Management and Presence of Staphylococcus sp. in the Laundry Unit and Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) RSUD Dr. Haryoto Lumajang

Linen menjadi media penunjang dalam seluruh pelayanan medis rumah sakit. Perlunya pengelolaan linen secara optimal dapat mencegah infeksi nosokomial. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengkaji pengelolaan linen dan keberadaan Staphylococcus sp. di unit laundry dan CSSD RSUD Dr. Haryoto Kabupaten Lumajang. Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif, dengan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan lembar kuesioner dan observasi. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari petugas pengelolaan linen RSUD Dr. Haryoto Kabupaten Lumajang sebanyak 21 sampel dan sampel linen sebanyak 7 sampel sprei dan duk operasi. Pengambilan sampel dan uji lab untuk sampel linen dilakukan pada bulan April 2023. Uji lab dilakukan di Balai Besar Laboratorium Kesehatan Surabaya (BBLK). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa proses pengelolaan linen di unit laundry RSUD Dr. Haryoto Kabupaten Lumajang pada proses pengangkutan linen dari ruangan, pemilahan, pencucian dan desinfeksi, pengeringan, dan pengemasan linen tergolong kategori cukup. Proses penyetrikaan dan pelipatan linen tergolong kategori baik. Perendaman dan desinfeksi, penyimpanan, dan distribusi tergolong kategori kurang. Pada proses linen bersih menjadi linen steril dilakukan beberapa proses sterilisasi di unit CSSD meliputi penerimaan, pelipatan, pengemasan, sterilisasi linen, kontrol indikator, penyimpanan linen, dan distribusi linen steril. Berdasarkan uji laboratorium menunjukkan bahwa seluruh linen tidak mengandung kuman Staphylococcus aureus melebihi 20 CFU/cm2.

Linen Management in Laundry Installation of Undata General Hospital Palu

This Research aims to find out and analyze Linen Management in the Laundry Installation of the Undata Palu Regional General Hospital. The main theories that are referenced in this study are Terry's theory which includes; (1) Planning, (2) Organizing, (3) Actuating, (4) Controlling, This research method uses a descriptive - qualitative approach. The location of this research was located at the Laundry Installation of the Undata Palu Regional General Hospital, with 4 informants selected purposively. Data collection is carried out by conducting interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis techniques using Miles and Huberman interactive models. Based on the results of the research, Linen Management at the Laundry Installation of the Undata Palu Regional General Hospital is in the category of being able to be carried out according to the management process, that is from planning, organizing, mobilizing and supervising. Planning of work programs related to Linen in the Laundry Installation of the Undata Palu Regional General Hospital has been carried out according to the available budget both from direct and indirect sources of APBD, Organizing has not been implemented effectively by organizing human resources from recruitment to placement, Mobilization can be carried out by the leadership by directing or fostering employees to work appropriately and well, while supervision is carried out either directly or indirectly.

Inisiasi Optimalisasi Fungsi Perencanaan Head Nurse dalam Pengelolaan Linen

This study report aims to identify planned changes in the initiation of optimization of the planning function in Linen Management. This method uses a case study approach using interviews, document review and observation, and Ishikawa's analysis. the results of the study shared that the application of the planning function in linen handling had not been optimal, as a result it had an impact on nursing services in the room. The management of linen in the room does not yet have standard guidelines and regulations for managing linen in each room. In conclusion, optimizing the planning function of the Head Nurse in linen management through drafting guidelines for linen management, the leadership's efforts to strengthen and sustain changes can be made by ratifying linen management regulations.Keywords: planning function, service quality, linen management, planned change.

The Effect of Linen Management on the Safety and Health of Laundry Workers at the “X” Hospital in Bandung

This study aimed to acknowledge the effect of linen management on the health and safety of laundry workers at ‘X’ Hospital in Bandung. The method of this research was a quantitative research method with a descriptive approach. Data collection was carried out by means of field observations, questionnaires, literature studies and internet browsing. The results showed that the effect of linen management on the safety and health of laundry workers was 37.5%, while 62.5% of the effect was influenced by other independent variables which were not included in this study. In the hypothesis test conducted by the author, the results of the t test were 3.549, which means t count > t table (3.549 > 2.776) so that there is a positive and significant influence between linen management and the health and safety of laundry workers at Muhammadiyah Bandung Hospital. The research found the following problems: 1) poor coordination with the nursing department so that errors still often occur in sorting linen, 2) lack of adherence to procedures, especially personal protective equipment so that it can cause washing workers to be exposed to chemical fluids, and 3) the process of recording all incidents or potential accidents do not go well in the laundry unit. The suggestions given to fix the problem are: 1) to improve communication with other units, 2) to carry out a level of supervision regarding compliance with standard operating procedures and personal protective equipment (PPE), and 3) to record all things that may become potential accidents in the report.

Linen Quality and Guest Satisfaction in Star-rated Hotels in Upper East Region of Ghana

Purpose: Linen as launderable textiles is indispensable in the hotel business. Guests pay for hotel services rendered and deserve quality linen. Linen (bed linen, bath linen, guest room curtains) is expected to be clean, crisp, spotless, attractive and comfortable. Linen quality can be attributable to the fibre of fabric, care and maintenance. Thus, the study investigated linen quality and guest satisfaction in star-rated hotels in Upper East Region of Ghana. The reference was on the relationship that exists between linen quality and guest satisfaction and to test if any association existed between them.
 Methodology: The study employed a descriptive survey research design. A sample of 327 guests was sampled using a random sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire. Analysis of data was done by the use of SPSS version 26. Data were presented using both descriptive and inferential statistics. The descriptive statistics were frequencies, percentages, means and standard deviations. For the inferential statistics, Spearman’s Rank-Order correlation was used to determine the relationships, directions, and magnitude among the study variables. The regression model was used for testing the hypotheses. The hypothesis was tested at a 5% level of significance.
 Findings: The findings revealed an association existed between linen quality and guest satisfaction with a moderate positive correlation (r =.04 to .52) and statistically significant (R2 =.197, F(2, 324) = 39.80, β = .522, p = .000). The hypothesis there is no association between linen quality and guest satisfaction was rejected at 95% confidence level. The study concluded linen quality significantly influences guest satisfaction. However, the predictor variable (linen quality) explained approximately 19.2% of the variations in guests’ satisfaction.
 Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: The study employed Expectancy-Disconfirmation Paradigm (EDP) model. The expected clean, comfortable and adequate linen met the expectation of the guests for satisfaction to occur. The study recommended stakeholders in the hotel industry should continuously ensure standards on linen quality to improve guest satisfaction. It is suggested the hotel management should purpose to provide quality linen and ensure proper care and maintenance of linen through effective supervision. The study as well calls for the Ghana Tourism Authority, the regulatory body for hotel activities to set standards and intensify monitoring activities regarding the quality of linen presented to guests. As an avenue for the hotels to acquire more knowledge, skills and a better attitude towards the handling of linen, the government of Ghana can institute policies on training on linen management.

Impact of multimodal strategies including a pay for performance strategy in the improvement of infection prevention and control practices in healthcare facilities during an Ebola virus disease outbreak

BackgroundStrategy to mitigate various Ebola virus disease (EVD) outbreaks are focusing on Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) capacity building, supportive supervision and IPC supply donation. This study was conducted to assess the impact of a Pay for Performance Strategy (PPS) in improving IPC performance in healthcare facilities (HF) in context of the 2018–2019 Nord Kivu/ Democratic Republic of the Congo EVD outbreak.MethodsA quasi-experimental study was conducted analysing the impact of a PPS on the IPC performance. HF were selected following the inclusion criteria upon informed consent from the facility manager and the National Department of Health. Initial and process assessment of IPC performance was conducted by integrating response teams using a validated IPC assessment tool for HF. A bundle of interventions was then implemented in the different HF including training of health workers, donation of IPC kits, supportive supervision during the implementation of IPC activities, and monetary reward. IPC practices in HF were assessment every two weeks during the intervention period to measure the impact. The IPC assessment tool had 34 questions aggregated in 8 different thematic areas: triage and isolation capacity, IPC committee in HF, hand hygiene, PPE, decontamination and sterilization, linen management, hospital environment and Waste management. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and analytical approaches according to assumptions. R software (version 4.0.3) was used for all the analyses and a p-value of 0.05 was considered as the threshold for statistically significant results.ResultsAmong 69 HF involved in this study, 48 were private facilities and 21 state facilities. The median baseline IPC score was 44% (IQR: 21–65%); this IPC median score reached respectively after 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks 68% (IQR: 59–76%), 79% (71–84%), 76% (68–85%) and 79% (74–85%). The improvement of IPC score was statistically significative. Spearman’s rank-order correlation revealed the associated between proportion of trained HW and IPC score performance after 8 weeks of interventions (rs = .280, p-value = 0.02).ConclusionPay for Performance Strategy was proved effective in improving healthcare facilities capacity in infection prevention and control practice in context of 2018 EVD outbreak in Nord Kivu. However, the strategy for long-term sustainability of IPC needs further provision. More studies are warranted on the HW and patients’ perceptions toward IPC program implementation in context of Nord Kivu Province.

Evaluasi Manajemen Linen Unit Laundry RSUD Kota Madiun

Background: Hospitals as institutions providing health services must keep abreast of technological developments, so as to be able to compete in a healthy manner with other hospitals to create the best service quality for customers. The purpose of the study was to determine the evaluation of linen management at Madiun hospital city in 2020.Methods: Observational research design using descriptive qualitative method. The selection of informants through primary data and secondary data. The number of main informants is 4 people and triangulation informants are 3 people. This research uses interview, documentation and triangulation techniques. Collecting data using in-depth interviews, observation and documentation studies. The research was conducted at the Madiun hospital city in March-April 2021. The data analysis techniques used data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing.Results: The results of research that has been carried out at the Madiun hospital city regarding evaluation of linen management. In general, The input components (human resources, infrastructure, guidelines and Standard Operating Procedure) in the management of linen at Madiun hospital city are not in accordance with the Hospital Linen Management Guidelines. The process components (planning, implementation of activities, and control) in the management of linen are generally not in accordance with the Hospital Linen Management Guidelines. The output component of linen management is the implementation of linen management that is not in accordance with the SPM (Minimum Service Standards) indicator standard.Conclusions: The obstacles that arise are due to constraints in input aspects such as human resources, policies and infrastructure that are not appropriate, causing the linen management process flow to be not optimal. As in the implementation process, there are still things that are not running according to Standard Operating Procedure. There has not been strong coordination between linen managers in the laundry and in the room so that it proves the weak control of facilities and infrastructure, linen inventory, quality and age of linen.

Loss of Linen Stock at Puri Bunda Mother and Child Hospital: What Affects This?

An insufficient number of linens, lack of linen cleanliness, and untimely linen provision will affect patient satisfaction, service quality, and hospital financing. Data at Puri Bunda Mother and Child Hospital Malang showed 108 linen loss incidents from the initial stock of 792 linens. This study was conducted to identify the factors that influence linen loss at Puri Bunda Mother and Child Hospital Malang. The root of the problems was identified through observations, interviews, and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the laundry staff, followed by analysis using a fishbone diagram and creating a Pareto diagram to select the main root of the problems. The study results indicate the absence of hospital policies that regulate the technical management of linen, weak evaluation monitoring, and inadequate linen management planning that contribute to the incidence of linen loss.

When Too Much of a Good Thing Becomes Harmful: A Cluster of Aspergillosis in Premature Extremely Low Birthweight Neonates

<h3>Background</h3> The movement of premature Extremely Low Birthweight (ELBW) neonates imposes risk for brain hemorrhage. In response to this concern, the babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) were enrolled in the newly adopted Intraventricular Hemorrhage (IVH) Prevention Bundle, where infants were immobilized in supine position for the first seventy-two hours of life. Four neonates from the NICU were diagnosed with Primary Cutaneous Aspergillus (PCA) infection after exposure to this life-saving protocol. <h3>Methods</h3> An internal multi-disciplinary team was convened to investigate these four cases. The case definition included infants who were enrolled in the IVH protocol starting in 2016. A review of the NICU's environment-of-care (EOC) elements was performed. This included retrospective air-quality culture surveillance data for molds available from 2016 to July 2017, internal incubator conditions, NICU construction and renovation activities, linen management, and the cleaning and disinfection of the infant immobilization/positioning device. During this investigation, air and surface samples were also collected to test for molds. <h3>Results</h3> The air sampling results were consistent with our facility's normal thresholds for air quality surveillance and the surface samples from linen, incubator, and all associated-IVH supplies were negative for molds. High humidity induced condensation was observed inside the incubators. Infection Control Risk Assessments were reviewed and were determined to be appropriate for unit-based construction activities. Subsequent mitigation strategies were instituted to include improvement in linen management, incremental decrease in humidity to reduce condensation, and more frequent patient re-positioning and incubator linen replacements. No additional cases were detected after the 4th case to-date. <h3>Conclusions</h3> The use of prevention bundles is an important component in improving healthcare-associated outcomes. In the case of the IVH prevention bundle for premature ELBW neonates in this NICU, careful attention and fine adjustments to the infant's environment-of-care needs were essential to the successful application of this life-saving protocol.

The Handling of Linen Needs in the Context of Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environment Sustainability

ABSTRACT&#x0D; Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the needs and the handling of room linen at a five-star hotel located in Nusa Dua area, Bali, Indonesia, in the context of CHSE (cleanliness, health, safety, and environment sustainability). &#x0D; Research methods: The method used in this research is a qualitative method using descriptive data both in writing and orally from respondents through field observations, interviews, and documentation.&#x0D; Results and discussion: The housekeeping department's linen management system at the hotel has not met linen management standards. The availability of existing Linen with a theoretical method of at least 3 par stocks was found to be lacking in the number of linen and the way the linen was handled was still not in accordance with existing procedures.&#x0D; Implication: Handling of room linen needs to be improved to get optimal results and it is necessary to increase the number of linens so that hotel operations can run more effectively and efficiently and do not force linen that is no longer suitable for use to be reused.&#x0D; &#x0D; Keywords: linen, par stock, CHSE, hotel.

Analysis of Inpatient Linen Management in Hospital Isolation Room in Indonesia: A Review

Linen handling activities are a very important handling activity carried out in hospitals. The thing that can minimize the risk of distribution of linen is to carry out proper handling according to standards. If the handling is carried out properly, the risk of spreading microorganisms to activities, staff, and the environment can be carried out and minimized. The purpose of writing this article is to find out the analysis of inpatient linen management in isolation rooms in various hospitals in Indonesia. The method used in writing this article is a qualitative method with the strategy used is a literature study on the topic of analysis of linen management in hospital isolation rooms in Indonesia. The results of the literature from various sources found that hospitals in Indonesia had set standards for linen management to prevent transmission. However, linen management in various hospitals in Indonesia, in general, has not been able to run optimally and has not met the applicable standards. This can be seen from the various stages of handling linen that does not meet the standards starting from the stages of separation, reception, processing, washing, and storage. Abstrak: Kegiatan penanganan linen merupakan sebuah kegiatan penanganan yang sangat penting dilakukan di rumah sakit. Hal yang dapat meminimalisir risiko penularan dari linen yaitu dengan melaksanakan penanganan yang tepat sesuai dengan standar. Jika kegiatan penanganan dilakukan dengan tepat, maka risiko penularan mikroorganisme pada pasien, petugas serta lingkungan dapat dicegah dan diminimalisir. Tujuan penulisan artikel ini yaitu untuk mengetahui analisis pengelolaan linen rawat inap ruang isolasi di berbagai rumah sakit di Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan dalam penulisan artikel ini yaitu metode kualitatif dengan strategi yang digunakan adalah studi literatur dengan topic analisis pengelolaan linen rawat inap ruang isolasi rumah sakit di Indonesia. Hasil tinjauan pustaka dari berbagai sumber yang ditemukan menyatakan bahwa rumah sakit di Indonesia sudah menetapkan standar pengelolaan linen untuk mencegah risiko penularan. Namun, pengelolaan linen di berbagai rumah sakit di Indonesia secara garis besar belum dapat berjalan dengan maksimal dan belum memenuhi standar ketentuan yang berlaku. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari berbagai tahap kegiatan penanganan linen yang belum memenuhi standar mulai dari tahap pemisahan, penerimaan, pengangkutan, pencucian dan penyimpanan.

Analisa Pengolahan Linen Di Puskesmas Kecamatan Tanah Abang Tahun 2020

Introduction: The processing of linen at the Tanah Abang District Health Center, Central Jakarta still does not meet the Standard Operating Procedures in accordance with the Minister of Health Regulation No. 07 of 2019 concerning Hospital Environmental Health. If the handling of linen is not managed properly, it will result in disease transmission, namely nosocomial infection. This study aims to analyze the processing of linen at the Tanah Abang District Health Center in 2021.&#x0D; Methods: The design of this research is qualitative descriptive. Data collection methods in this study using observation data, interviews, documentation. The objects of this research include the officer in charge of linen, and the laundry clerk. The data analysis technique used is the data analysis model of Miles and Huberman, namely data collection data, data reduction, data presentation, Conclusion Drawing / Verification. The time of the research was carried out from January to March 2021&#x0D; Results: Linen processing at the Tanah Abang District Health Center is carried out in accordance with the Regulation of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No. 07 of 2019, at the linen collection stage there are 2 requirements (50%) meet the requirements and 2 requirements (50%) do not meet the requirements because at the time the linen collection has not been labeled infectious, the linen acceptance stage has 2 requirements (100%) fulfilling the requirements, the linen washing stage has 2 requirements (66.6%) meets the requirements, 1 requirement (33.3%) does not meet the requirements due to unavailability of scales, the linen washing stage has 1 requirement (100%) meets the requirements, the linen ironing stage has 1 requirement (100%) does not meet the requirements, the linen storage stage has 1 requirement (100%) meets the requirements, the linen distribution stage has 1 requirement (100%) meets the requirements, the linen transport stage has 5 requirements (100%) has met the requirements.&#x0D; Discussion: Analysis of linen processing at the Tanah Abang District Health Center in 2020, namely the implementation of linen management at the Tanah Abang District Health Center in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 07 of 2019 concerning Hospital environmental health. In the management of linen, there are three stages that do not meet the requirements, such as the storage stage, the washing stage, and the ironing stage. This is due to the lack of facilities that support linen management activities which make linen management not eligible.

Pengelolaan Linen Kamar di Internal Hotel Amaris Setiabudhi Bandung

Bandung city is a tourist destination that is still in great demand by tourists, both domestic and foreign tourists. One of the supporting tourism activities is the existence of a hotel for their temporary residence while traveling. Hotel Amaris Setiabudhi Bandung is a hotel located in the city of Bandung which provides accommodation for tourists. So the existence of the hotel must be managed properly. Many departments that regulate the running of the hotel include the housekeeping department which is responsible for all the beauty, cleanliness, tidiness, comfort of the entire hotel area including guest rooms. To support the comfort of the guest rooms, one of them is good linen management. This research is related to the management of hotel linens with qualitative methods with data collection techniques, observations and interviews with related staff, including Operational Supervisors and housekeeping staff. The results showed that the management of room linen in the internal Amaris Setiabudhi hotel from the availability of room linen was quite good, meaning that the availability of linen was in accordance with the specified par, the process of grouping and separating dirty linen was not good, also the condition of the linen storage room at Amaris Setiabudhi Hotel Bandung was said to be lacking. The Clean pilot study: evaluation of an environmental hygiene intervention bundle in three Tanzanian hospitals

BackgroundHealthcare associated infections (HAI) are estimated to affect up to 15% of hospital inpatients in low-income countries (LICs). A critical but often neglected aspect of HAI prevention is basic environmental hygiene, particularly surface cleaning and linen management. TEACH CLEAN is an educational intervention aimed at improving environmental hygiene. We evaluated the effectiveness of this intervention in a pilot study in three high-volume maternity and newborn units in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.MethodsThis study design prospectively evaluated the intervention as a whole, and offered a before-and-after comparison of the impact of the main training. We measured changes in microbiological cleanliness [Aerobic Colony Counts (ACC) and presence of Staphylococcus aureus] using dipslides, and physical cleaning action using gel dots. These were analysed with descriptive statistics and logistic regression models. We used qualitative (focus group discussions, in-depth interviews, and semi-structured observation) and quantitative (observation checklist) tools to measure why and how the intervention worked. We describe these findings across the themes of adaptation, fidelity, dose, reach and context.ResultsMicrobiological cleanliness improved during the study period (ACC pre-training: 19%; post-training: 41%). The odds of cleanliness increased on average by 1.33 weekly during the pre-training period (CI = 1.11–1.60), and by 1.08 (CI = 1.03–1.13) during the post-training period. Cleaning action improved only in the pre-training period. Detection of S. aureus on hospital surfaces did not change substantially. The intervention was well received and considered feasible in this context. The major pitfalls in the implementation were the limited number of training sessions at the hospital level and the lack of supportive supervision. A systems barrier to implementation was lack of regular cleaning supplies.ConclusionsThe evaluation suggests that improvements in microbiological cleanliness are possible using this intervention and can be sustained. Improved microbiological cleanliness is a key step on the pathway to infection prevention in hospitals. Future research should assess whether this bundle is cost-effective in reducing bacterial and viral transmission and infection using a rigorous study design.

A study on Facility (Hospital) upkeep, hygiene promotion and Support services at Primary Health Centers of western Gujarat: Assessment of performance parameters by using Kayakalp tool

Introduction: Primary Health Centre (PHC) is the cornerstone ofpreventive and promotive health care. Thus services provided at PHCs should be quality care and adequate care.To promote the same, GOI has started award giving based on performance of health facility under different themes. The present study was intended to have insight of the implementation status of swachhta guidelines (Kayakalp).Objective: To assess the Facility upkeep, Support services and Hygiene promotion at Primary Health centers of western Gujarat. Method: The cross sectional study carried out in 33 PHCs (universal sample) of Jamnagar district from 2017 to 2018. The assessment were done for following three categories: 1. Thematic Area 2. Criteria 3. Checkpoint. Under this study three thematic areas(from total 6), Hospital/Facility Upkeep, Support Services and Hygiene Promotion were covered. The data were obtained in present study in the terms of score for each variable. The score divided into up to 50%, 50%-70% and more than 70% then it was compared with different criterion under each theme and data were entered in Microsoft Excel version 2007. Data collection was done through Staff interview, Observations, patient Interview, Record review. Ethical clearance was taken from Institutional ethical committee before commencement of the study. Results: For criterion ; Maintenance of Open Areas, Facility Appearance, Infrastructure Maintenance, Illumination, water sanitation, pharmacy store, outreach services majority of health facilities obtained score &gt;70%, whereas for Water conservation, pest &amp; animal control, Laundry Services and Linen Management, Security services it was around 50%. Community Monitoring &amp; Patient Participation &amp; Information Education and Communication was observed average as per the criteria used.Conclusion:Half of the health facilities performed satisfactorily in work placemanagement. Involvement of Local community and organization in monitoring and promoting cleanliness.poor performance was seen regarding water conservation like maintenance of Water supply system, the preventive measures which were taken to reduce wastage.

PENGELOLAAN LINEN RUMAH SAKIT DAERAH dr. ADNAAN WD PAYAKUMBUH SUMATERA BARAT

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;em&gt;Abstract&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;The organization of environmental health of the hospital is carried out according to the environmental health requirements of the hospital. One of the supporting factors for hospitals in restoring patient health is the provision of linen. Regional General Hospital Dr. Adnaan WD Payakumbuh is a type C regional hospital. Linen infectious and non-infectious patients used ex-patients or former health service activities are produced every day and no sorting of infectious and non-infectious linen is not done. Washing linen uses 1 washing machine to wash all types of linen, does not have a linen carriage storage room, coordination of linen staff with other parts, especially in repairing facilities and equipment is not optimal, linen managers still do not use personal protective equipment (PPE). This study aims to determine the description of linen management at Adnaan WD Payakumbuh Hospital. The research is descriptive with an observation approach. The research instrument used a checklist and measurements referring to the Kepmenkes RI No 1204 in 2004. The data were analyzed descriptively in the form of tables and percentages. The results of the 80% linen washout, 100% linen collection stage, 100% transportation stage, 100% acceptance stage, 100% washing stage, 80% storage stage, and 100% distribution stage fulfilled the requirements.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;Keywords: infection, non-infection, linen, hospital&lt;/em&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

PENGELOLAAN LINEN DI PUSKESMAS LUBUK BASUNG KABUPATEN AGAM

Dirty linen is an important source of contamination at the health center. Although the linen is not used directly in the treatment process but its effect can be seen when handling linen not properly managed will lead to disease transmission is through nosocomial infections. The purpose of research is to know the description of washes and linen management processes in PHC Lubuk Basung Agam.&#x0D; The research method is descriptive qualitative approach, because this approach could explore deeply about the picture of the management of linen in Public Health Center of Lubuk Basung that is based on research objectives and principles - the principle of conformity (appropriateness) and sufficiency (adequacy). The total of research informants is sixpeople with in-depth interviews.&#x0D; The results show the different stages of the process of washing dirty linen weight (infectious) are soaked before input into the washing machine but do not use hot water, while the soiled linen mild (non-infectious) was not done soaking, for the washing process using one unit of washing machines and at the same stage should be stored in a closet storage for all kinds of linen in the health center. &#x0D; It is suggested for washing linen officers to pay more attention in the management of soiled linen weight (infectious). Soaking should use hot water and should always use personal protective equipments (PPE) in progress.

How clean is “hygienically clean”: Quantitative microbial levels from samples of clean health care textiles across the United States

In the United States, the laundry industry has not reliably measured microbial levels on hygienically clean textiles. The aim of this study was to quantitatively measure the microbial levels found on a sample of hygienically clean textiles. Forty-eight health care textile samples were collected from hygienically clean linen scheduled to be used on 3 different patient care units. Samples were taken at 2 separate points in time representing laundry facility processing practices and hospital linen management practices. United States Pharmacopeia 61 testing was completed using a pour plate culturing method, producing a total aerobic microbial count and a total yeast and mold count. Of the samples, only 27% had a total aerobic microbial count below the expected 100 colony-forming unit level (range, 9-40,000) versus 81% (range, 9-1,000) for total yeast and mold count. Median microbial counts for the 2 separate time points across the 3 different patient care units were also higher than expected. As far as we know, this study is a first step by the laundry industry to understand what quantitative microbial levels are currently found on hygienically clean health care textiles. These types of data can assist the industry in establishing appropriate outcome targets for process improvement initiatives.

Implementation Standard Precaution of Risky Dental Treatments on Patient with HIV-AIDS in X Public Health Center Yogyakarta

Health services are currently required to do services by following with implementation standard precaution has been established, to create good quality services. Infection that needs to be alert for the dental health care professional is the Human Immunodeficiency Virus. Implementation standard precautions need to be applied to a patient with HIV-AIDS or non-HIV-AIDS infection on risky dental treatments. Qualitative research with case studies. The approach in this study is content analysis. Analyzing the contents of interview results, direct observation, and document observation. Direct observation of PLHIV patients was done perfectly: hand hygiene 46.7%, PPE 95.5%, safe injection 100%, waste and sharp object management 75%, patient care equipment 80%, linen management 100%, environmental management 53.3%, employee health protection 0%, and cough ethics 0%. Results of documents observations related to hand hygiene, patient care equipment, and environmental management are well listed; related to PPE, management of waste and sharp objects, and employee health protection are listed but not yet complete; and related to safe injections, linen management, and cough ethics are not listed on document in X Public Health Center Yogyakarta. Implementation standard precaution overall is quite good and still needs to improved to prevent and control infections, especially HIV-AIDS infections in X Public Health Center Yogyakarta.
