Attitudes Toward Gender Equality of Nursing Students in a University of Guayaquil

Gender equality is not only a human right but also a fundamental pillar for building a society with full equity in the social, political, and cultural spheres. The objective of this study was to determine the attitude of UCSG nursing students towards gender equality. The study population consisted of 154 university students who met the inclusion criteria. The study employed a virtual survey and a questionnaire of questions using a Likert scale of attitudes by García Pérez. The participants in the study were university students, with an average age of 23 years. The majority (73.5%) were women, while 26.3% were men. Of the men, 79.2% were single. The questionnaire of questions with the Likert scale of attitudes of García Pérez was applied to determine the students' sensitivity to the topic of gender equality. The results indicated that the women exhibited greater sensitivity than the men. The present study found that there is a global adaptive attitude in the three scales (sociocultural, relational, and personal). However, sexist attitudes are present, particularly in the relational level in relation to gender roles, gender violence, leadership, and affectivity. In contrast, in the sociocultural level, there are adaptive attitudes, while in the personal level, there are egalitarian attitudes.

Calling upon the potential for disasters in Indonesia, disaster education in early childhood education seems very crucial. Disaster education is an effort to create good knowledge, good conditions, and a strong attitude in dealing with disasters. Disaster education can be carried out at all levels of education, both formal and informal. The purpose of this study was to determine knowledge and attitudes towards the risk of volcanic disaster in Aceh Besar SAIBAS students. The method used in this research is a descriptive statistical approach with a quasi-experimental research design. The quasi-experiment used in this study is Quasi-Experiment: One-Group Pretest-Posttest. The research was conducted at the Bukit Pedas Islamic Kindergarten (SAIBAS) Aceh The sampling procedure employed in this study involved the utilization of purposive sampling, specifically targeting a cohort of 30 students. The data collection instruments encompassed Likert attitude scales, interviews, and test results. Test analysis techniques were employed for the subsequent data analysis. The findings of the intervention revealed a notable enhancement in both knowledge and attitudes, registering an initial increase of 53 and subsequently escalating to 87. Moreover, the participants demonstrated an 85 capacity in disaster preparedness, underscoring their adeptness in comprehending the risks associated with volcanic activity. This discernible improvement in student capabilities underscores a heightened awareness and understanding of volcanic hazards. Transitioning From Trainee to Practicing Pathologist: A Prospective Multi-institutional Survey of the Challenges Early Career Anatomic Pathologists Encounter When Entering Independent Practice.

Pathology training programs generally prepare graduates well for the workforce, but there may be other aspects to navigating a job that make the transition from being a trainee to a practicing pathologist challenging. To identify perceived challenges of independent practice for early career pathologists and assess how these impressions evolve throughout their first year. A survey was distributed to 12 anatomic pathology fellows from 4 institutions near the end of their final training year, and 6 months and 1 year after starting their first job. The surveys queried participants' comfort level with signing out cases independently and interacting with colleagues/trainees via Likert attitude scale questions with free-text segments to elaborate on challenges experienced. The response rate to all 3 surveys was 100%. Confidence and comfort level with different aspects of independent sign-out increased incrementally over time. Main challenges encountered at 6 months included a high case load, signing out cases in areas outside of their subspecialty, time management, balancing teaching while signing out, laboratory issues, and developing relationships with clinicians. At 12 months, main challenges included time management, high case load, understaffing, laboratory issues, and signing out cases in areas outside of their subspecialty. This study identified real-time challenges faced by those adjusting to their first year of independent practice. By gaining a better understanding of the factors that make this transition challenging, we can find tailored ways to support our early career pathologists.

A DESCRIPTIVE STUDY TO ASSESS THE KNOWLEDGE AND ATTITUDE REGARDING USE OF MENSTRUAL CUP

A menstrual cup is a menstrual device which helps to maintain hygiene during menstrual cycle and it is inserted into the vagina during menstruation.The menstrual cup is a silicon product used for menstruation hygiene. Even though it is safe, environmentally friendly, affordable, and durable, its unacceptability may be related to larger adoption issues.The study is focused to assess the knowledge and Attitude regarding menstrual cups among selected female nursing students. Descriptive research methodology was adopted in this study and 150 female nursing students of Sharda University was selected in the present study. Convenience technique of sampling was adopted for the data collection. The information was gathered via knowledge Questionnaire along with 5-point Likert attitude scale used to assess the knowledge and attitude regarding use of menstrual cup.The resultsreveled that majority (84) of the participants (56%) average knowledge regarding menstrual cup ,53 (35%) participants had good knowledge, while 13 (8.7%) had poor knowledge amongst 150 nursing students. Whereas 0 (0%) had unfavorable attitude, 49(32.7%) participants had neutral attitude and 101 (67.3%) participants had favorable attitude regarding the use of menstrual cup as a menstrual hygiene product.The uses of a menstrual cup for monthly hygiene management among chosen Sharda University college girls looks that it is acceptable and feasible, as it offers realistic, pocket friendly, and good for nature and environment. Young People, who tend to be more willing to embrace the idea of ecologically friendly items, should be addressed to encourage menstrual cup acceptance.

Students’ mathematics self-efficacy in learning social arithmetic topic

<span lang="EN-US">The issue, the significance of student self-efficacy in the learning process, is what inspired this study. This study set out to identify and characterize students’ self-efficacy capacities for studying the social arithmetic topic in light of their unique traits. This research is descriptive research through questionnaire analysis using percentages. A self-efficacy questionnaire plus a questionnaire for students’ responses make up the tool used to assess self-efficacy abilities. In this study, the data were collected and evaluated using a Likert attitude scale to determine whether students’ self-efficacy in studying the social arithmetic topic had increased. The scale in this self-efficacy contains three components, namely students’ assessment of: i) the level of task difficulty (magnitude); ii) the variety of tasks (generality); and iii) the degree of stability in completing a task (strength) in social arithmetic topic. The conclusion obtained in this study related to self-efficacy in mathematics is that it can be seen as a whole in learning social arithmetic topic showing that there are 79.05% of students giving a positive response, meaning that almost all students assess themselves positively when learning social arithmetic topic.</span>

Knowledge and attitude of school students regarding COVID-19 pandemic

Background: In India, a variety of approaches was adopted to control the spread of COVID-19 among people including social distancing, compulsion on wearing a mask, and vaccination. However, there is still lacking the awareness among people regarding COVID-19. knowledge and attitude of the youth can make a huge difference in these efforts and so this study is aimed to find the knowledge and attitude of school students regarding COVID-19. Methods: A descriptive study was conducted in September 2021 on a total of 286 school students. Different schools in Nagpur were used to collect data from students aged between 15-18 years. Prior consent and accent were taken from the parent and students respectively before data collection. A convenient sampling technique was used to collect data by using the demographic form, structured knowledge questionnaire (SKQ), and attitude Likert scale (ALS). Results: In the study group, 37.06% were in 16-17 years of age, 57.69% were male, 32.87% were in 11th standard, about 55.94% of student’s parents were doing the private job, 39.51% of student’s family income was between 10001-20000, 46.85% students were living in a nuclear family, 89.16 students had previous knowledge of COVID-19 and about 71.37% of student got this knowledge from the television. In the study group, 5.94% of students had Good knowledge and 35.66% of students had a favorable attitude. Conclusions: The majority of the school students have poor knowledge and attitude toward COVID-19. Educational intervention is very necessary to improve the knowledge of students.

Knowledge, Attitude & Practice (KAP) among Staff Nurses Regarding Biomedical Waste Management (BMW): A Correlational Study Design

Background: The safe and effective management of biomedical waste generated in the hospital is a collective responsibility of all health workers involved in patient care. It is cardinal that the staff nurses must have up to date knowledge regarding handling and management of biomedical waste for the sake of both themselves and the patients. The aim of the study was to assess the knowledge, attitude and practice levels among staff nurses regarding biomedical waste management and to determine the relationship between knowledge, attitude and practice levels. Materials and Methods: The following study adopted a Correlational design. 100 staff nurses from selected hospitals in Kollam, Kerala were assigned using convenience sampling. The data was collected using a structured knowledge questionnaire, a five-point Likert attitude scale and a verbal response checklist. Results: Findings of the study revealed that the Spearman’s Rank Coefficient (Rho) ‘ρ’ calculated at 0.65** for finding the relationship between knowledge and attitude levels was statistically significant at P<0.01 level. Also, the ‘ρ’ value (0.59**) calculated between knowledge and practice levels was significant at 0.01 level. The Chi square (χ2) value calculated was statistically significant for Knowledge level and selected sociodemographic variables such as; Gender (χ2 18.56**, df=02, P<0.01 level) and Professional Experience (χ2 11.59*, df-04, p<0.05 level); Also, between professional experience and Attitude (6.44**) and professional experience and practice levels (10.17**). The Fisher’s exact test revealed association between Gender and Attitude (P# 0.016*, df=02, P<0.05 level) as well as Gender and Practice (P# 0.005**, df-01, P<0.01 level of significance). Conclusion: The findings confirmed that there was a medium/moderate positive correlation between knowledge and attitude as well as knowledge and practice levels regarding biomedical waste management among staff nurses. Telemedicine in Developing Countries: Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices of Caregivers of Children with Epilepsy Regarding Telemedicine at the Philippine Children’s Medical Center

Purpose: The coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic has prompted the use of telemedicine as an alternative method for providing continuous epilepsy care. This study was conducted to validate and administer a web-based questionnaire to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) regarding telemedicine among caregivers of children with epilepsy at the Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC). Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted by a primary investigator from the child neurology section of PCMC between July 2022 and October 2022 and consisted of two phases. In phase 1, content validation and pre-testing of the Filipino version of the questionnaire were conducted with 29 caregivers. Phase 2 involved the web-based administration of the final version of the questionnaire to 89 caregivers. Results: The resulting questionnaire comprised four main sections: demographics, KAP. Regarding caregivers’ knowledge, 70.8% had not heard of telemedicine before participating in teleconsultations at PCMC. However, most participants were able to correctly identify its purposes (86.4%), benefits (87.6%), and barriers (78.7%). All aspects of the caregivers’ attitudes demonstrated positive agreement with the Likert scale of attitudes, with <i>P</i> values of <0.01, which indicated statistical significance. The most common device used was a cellular phone, and most caregivers identified Facebook Messenger, Viber, and Zoom as the most useful platforms. Conclusion: Our study revealed low awareness of the availability of telemedicine services but good knowledge of its purposes, benefits, and barriers. Caregivers exhibited positive attitudes toward telemedicine, with Facebook Messenger identified as the most useful platform.

Development of Students’ Attitudes towards Technology Education between Years 1993-2022 in Finnish Comprehensive School

Technology is affecting our lives more and more. It has consequences to every human being, and we find ourselves faced with both positive and negative aspects of technology. Certainly, this has an effect on our attitudes towards technology. In this study, we tried to find out if there have been any changes in attitudes towards technology among Finnish school children during the last 30 years. The attitudes measured in 1993 were compared with the results from 2012 and 2022. The number of test participants was 267 in the first measurement, 317 in the second and 284 in the last measurement. The age of the student respondents was 11–13 years. The measurements were done with exactly the same Likert scale attitude questionnaire in all three measurements. Some positive changes were found in attitudes towards technology in girls test group. Unfortunately, boys’ development between years 2012-2022 is alarming and should be of great concern The development in attitudes can be explained by the changes in technology education curriculum. From a broader point of view, the development in attitudes can be due to the changes in society as a whole.

 The background of this research is that based on the identification carried out by the researchers at the research location, namely: The learning that has been carried out so far in class VIII of MTs Yaspend Muslim specifically for Fiqh subjects does not emphasize learning by providing direct learning experiences through the development of process skills, scientific attitudes and lack of developing reasoning. This causes the low reasoning ability of students. The objectives of this research are: To determine the effect of the cooperative learning method integretet reading and composition on increasing reasoning in learning fiqh students in class VIII MTs Yaspend Muslim. The type of research used in this study is a quantitative research method. In this study the form of the instrument used is in the form of a questionnaire using a Likert scale attitude that has been modified with the following assessments: often scores 3, Rarely scores 2, and Never scores 1. The results of this study are: The results of hypothesis testing are also carried out independently. partial with the significance or the effect of the independent variable on the dependent variable that, the tcount (partial) for the cooperative integret reading and composition learning method is 2,672 with a significance level of 0.01, the cooperative integrete reading and composition learning method variable has a positive and significant effect on increasing reasoning Students with a value of tcount (2.672) > ttable (2.021) and a significant value (0.01) <0.05 indicates that the cooperative integretet reading and composition learning method has a positive and significant effect on the improvement of students' reasoning. This can be seen with a significant value of 0.01 which is smaller than = 0.05. The cooperative integret reading and composition learning method will be able to improve students' reasoning because the better and better the cooperative integrete reading and composition learning method made by the teacher, students will get an increase in affective, cognitive, and psychomotor aspects in the classroom. Students will also look more active and critical, this is what causes the positive effect of the cooperative integrated reading and composition learning method on the improvement of students' reasoning.
 
 
 

Urban void as an urban catalyst bridging the gap between the community

Due to the increase in population, there are fewer open spaces creating urban voids in cities nowadays. However, the opportunities made available to people by urban voids adequately indicate the necessity and significance of urban open spaces. The lack of proper planning and a good perception of the place led to the formation of lost spaces. These lost spaces are found everywhere and are treated as waste spaces. By reclaiming these urban voids, we can change them into public gathering spaces, pocket parks, or any user-friendly space admired by the users. The objective of the study is to determine why these waste spaces are called urban voids and are not utilized to their full potential. The identified area for the case study is near Railway Colony in Multan. The selected area is L-shaped and connected with the base of a flyover, which creates a huge void. The spatial methodology, which is based on identifying the physical conditions and surveys, which depend on user ratings, was the foundation of the research methodology. Users assigned ratings for the space performance, which was determined by the spatial analysis approach and differed in terms of space structure and attributes. A total of 280 participants (118 females and 162 men) rated the technical, functional, and aesthetic performance of the spaces they occupy using a Likert attitude scale, with 70 individuals from each of the identified connected urban voids under the flyover. The results showed that space performance affects user satisfaction and the space usage level after design interventions.

INCREASING STUDENTS SELF-REGULATED LEARNING THROUGH A REALISTIC MATHEMATICAL EDUCATION

This research is motivated by the importance of students' self-regulated learning. Aims to determine the increase in self-regulated learning of students with a realistic mathematical education in learning mathematics and to know student responses. This type of research is descriptive research through questionnaire analysis. The instruments used were a self-regulated learning questionnaire and a questionnaire to see student responses. In this study, the data obtained were analyzed using a Likert attitude scale. This scale in self-regulated learning contains nine components, namely: assessing students for (1) learning initiatives, (2) diagnosing learning needs, (3) setting learning goals, (4) monitoring, organizing and controlling learning, (5 seeing difficulties as a challenge, (6) utilizing and searching for relevant learning resources, (7) selecting and determining learning strategies, (8) evaluating learning processes and outcomes, and (9) self-concept. The conclusions obtained in this study are related to self-regulated learning in mathematics can be seen as a whole by using realistic mathematics education. This shows that there are 96.76% of students who give a positive response.

KNOWLEDGE AND ATTITUDE OF NURSES REGARDING TRANSGENDER HEALTH CARE- A PILOT STUDY FROM KERALA

Nurses interact with transgender patients in a variety of settings. More and more nurses wish to provide a comfortable environment for all their patients, including those who are transgender. A descriptive study to assess the knowledge and attitude of nurses regarding transgender health care is a pilot study conducted in a selected tertiary care centre in Kollam district of Kerala state. Quantitative descriptive survey is used to collect data from 30 samples selected by simple random sampling technique. Knowledge questionnaire developed by the investigator to measure knowledge and standardized 7 point attitude likert scale to measure the antitransgender prejudice was used to collect data.

SPREMNOST UČITELjA ZA IMPLEMENTACIJU STEM KONCEPTA OBRAZOVANjA

The paper emphasizes the importance of teacher’s readiness for the im- plementation of the STEM concept as one of the key barriers to its implementation. The need for additional professional engagement of teachers in familiarizing themselves with the concept itself to empower students for a cohesive understanding of STEM discipline content and the level of teacher competence in creating and using interdisciplinary STEM educational materials are some of the elements that underscore the importance of consid- ering the diffusion problem of the STEM concept as a pedagogical innovation. In order to investigate the level of teacher’s readiness for implementing the STEM concept in elemen- tary education in our region, an empirical study was conducted, within which a survey of 107 teachers from various regions of Serbia was carried out. Teachers’ attitudes were assessed using a scale previously validated by foreign authors, which exhibited the char- acteristics of a five-point Likert scale of attitudes. The nature of the relationship between teachers’ cognitive and affective readiness and their self-efficacy, and sociodemographic variables (gender, years of service, years of working in education) was examined as well. The results showed that teachers demonstrated readiness for implementing this approach in teaching and express a high degree of affective readiness, which is correlated with their level of cognitive readiness and level of self-efficacy.

Study to Assess the Knowledge and Attitude Regarding Eye Donation Among Teaching Faculty of Selected Colleges in Hubli, Dharwa

Background The alteration in transparency of cornea leads to corneal scarring and blindness. Corneal blindness can be cured by transplantation. Donated cornea can give sight to four cornea blind patients yet the benefit of eye donation awareness is inadequate. The present study was designed to assess the knowledge and attitude towards eye donation.Objective To evaluate the knowledge and attitude towards eye donation among teaching faculty working in selected colleges.Methodology A descriptive study was designed to assess the knowledge and attitude of teaching faculty towards eye donation. A total of 100 teaching faculty from various colleges were selected using probability simple random sampling technique. A structured knowledge questionnaire and modified Likert attitude scale were designed to assess the objectives. The questionnaire showed content validity index of knowledge and attitude scale of 70 and 78 reliability for knowledge and attitude scale was 0.8 and 0.79 respectively. Results The results of the present study revealed that many participants had average knowledge and favorable attitude towards eye donation and there was no significant correlation between knowledge and attitude scores of the teaching faculty regarding eye donation.Conclusion Results of the study revealed that teaching staff had average knowledge and favorable attitude towards eye donation and there was no significant relation between knowledge and attitude implying the need to improve knowledge of teachers regarding eye donation and providing information on its benefits to the community.

Students’ Self-Regulated in Learning Mathematics using Realistic Mathematical Education Model

To study at school, students must have soft skills such as self-regulated learning, namely the ability of students to manage their own learning. The significance of students' self-regulated learning is what inspired this study. This study sought to ascertain the rise in students' self-regulated learning when learning mathematics using a realistic mathematics education model, as well as the students' reactions to learning mathematics using a realistic mathematics education model. This kind of study uses questionnaire analysis to do descriptive research. A self- regulated learning questionnaire and a questionnaire for students' responses made up the tool used to assess the self-regulated learning abilities that had been put to the test. Data were collected for this study to examine the rise in realistic mathematics education students' ability to learn mathematics independently, as well as the students' attitudes toward learning mathematics through mathematics education, which were assessed using a Likert attitude scale. The self-regulated learning scale is made up of four parts: the students' evaluations of how well they (1) use and locate pertinent learning resources in mathematics, (2) select and determine their learning strategies in mathematics, (3) assess and evaluate their learning outcomes in mathematics, and (4) have a positive view of themselves as mathematicians. By utilizing realistic mathematics education, the findings of this study about self-regulated learning in mathematics can be viewed as a whole. Based on the results of data analysis it is known that students' responses to realistic mathematics education models are positive which are adapted to real-life contexts or everyday life which will arouse students' self-regulated learning in solving problems because they are related to real life. This demonstrates that 98.18% of students respond positively.

Correlation between level of knowledge and attitude toward human papillomavirus vaccine in high school students

Objective: To determine the correlation between level of knowledge and attitude toward human papillomavirus (HPV)vaccine in high school students. Materials and methods: An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional and prospective study. The population consisted offourth- and fifth-year female high school students. The research variables were level of knowledge of HPV and attitudetoward its vaccine. A previously prepared and validated knowledge survey and a Likert scale attitude test sheet wereused as instruments. For the statistical analysis, an Excel database was created. Then, the resulting information was processed in the IBM SPSS Statistics statistical software, applying Spearman’s Rho with a value of p < 0.05 to determine the correlation of the main study variables. The research was carried out with the educational institution's consent, parentalconsent and children’s assent.Results: A good level of knowledge of HPV prevailed in the students (75.45 %), followed by an intermediate level (21.82 %) and a poor level (2.73 %). Regarding the attitude, it was favorable in 12.73 %, indifferent in 52.72 % and unfavorable in 34.55 %. The correlation between attitude and level of knowledge was not statistically significant (p > 0.05).Conclusions: Most students have a good level of knowledge of HPV, which is not related to the attitude toward thevaccine, which shows a high percentage of indifference.

This causes low student learning independence. The objectives of this research are: To determine the effect of participant modeling learning strategies on increasing learning independence in learning fiqh students in class VIII MTs Nurul Huda Serapuh ABC. The type of research used in this study is a quantitative research method. In this study the form of the instrument used is in the form of a questionnaire using a Likert scale attitude that has been modified with the following assessments: often scores 3, Rarely scores 2, and Never scores 1. The results of this study are: The results of hypothesis testing are also carried out independently. partial with the significance or the effect of the independent variable on the dependent variable that, the tcount (partial) for the participant modeling learning strategy is 2,672 with a significance level of 0.01, the participant modeling learning strategy variable has a positive and significant effect on students' learning independence with a tcount value (2,672 ) > t table (2.021) and the significant value (0.01) <0.05 indicates that the participant modeling learning strategy has a positive and significant effect on student learning independence. This can be seen with a significant value of 0.01 which is smaller than = 0.05. The participant modeling learning strategy will be able to increase students' learning independence because the better and better the participant modeling learning strategy made by the teacher, students will get an increase in affective, cognitive, and psychomotor aspects in the classroom. Students will also look more active and critical, this causes a positive effect on the participant's modeling learning strategy on student learning independence.

ANALISIS PENGAMBILAN KEPUTUSAN PETANI DALAM PEREMAJAAN KELAPA SAWIT DI KECAMATAN LONG IKIS KABUPATEN PASER

The success of farmers in rejuvenation is considered very important for the survival of farmers. Oil palm smallholders are expected to be able to make decisions on rejuvenating their oil palm plantations in time to improve yields and increase farmers' income in the future. The general objectives of this research are to find out (1) how farmers make smallholder decisions in the oil palm rejuvenation program; (2) the factors that influence farmers' decision making in the oil palm rejuvenation program in Long Ikis District, Paser Regency. This research was conducted in Long Ikis District, Paser Regency. Sampling was done by purposive sampling method. Data analysis used descriptive qualitative analysis method using Likert attitude scale measurement. The data are tabulated and interpreted qualitatively with categories. This research is expected to provide information for farmers in making decisions for oil palm rejuvenation programs in order to increase the productivity of oil palm plantations. The things that farmers consider in making decisions about replanting are from the agronomic, economic and social aspects. Of the 6 factors that influence farmers' decisions to replant (land area, plant height, farming experience, income, government assistance and capital) the most influential factors in making oil palm replanting decisions are land area, plant height, capital and government assistance.

Knowledge and Attitudes Regarding Human Papillomavirus Among Active Duty Service Members at a Large Military Base.

To assess gaps in human papillomavirus (HPV) knowledge and current attitudes toward HPV vaccination among active duty soldiers at Fort Bragg, NC, and to evaluate the impact of the instruction intervention on knowledge and attitudes regarding HPV vaccination. A six-question assessment was administered to soldiers presenting for appointments through the Epidemiology and Disease Control (EDC) Clinic at Fort Bragg in January 2020. Questions included five multiple choice knowledge assessments and a Likert scale attitude question regarding HPV vaccination. The assessment was administered before and after a one-on-one educational intervention conducted by the EDC Clinic nursing staff. Pre- and post-assessments were matched using unique encounter numbers. A total of 139 matched pre- and post-education assessments were completed. Statistically significant changes in HPV knowledge were observed in test score and percent correct (P < .001). Additionally, for individuals reporting no prior HPV vaccination, attitudes toward receiving it increased from 4 (interquartile range 3-5) to 5 (4-5) following instructions (P < .001). This indicates a shift from moderately interested to very interested. Results among soldiers demonstrated a lack of knowledge regarding HPV infection, its long-term effects, and preventive measures available among this population of active duty members. Assessment results also illustrated education about HPV infection and vaccination positively impacts soldiers' knowledge and attitudes toward HPV vaccination.
