Mandatory Disclosure of SAK ETAP in Mimetic and Normative Isomorphism Perspective on Real Sector Cooperatives In Indonesia

This study aims to analyze the effect of Institutional Isomorphism on mandatory disclosure with Financial Accounting Standards for Entities Without Public Accountability (SAK ETAP). The level of mandatory disclosures, measured by an unweighted of 88 disclosure items. The results of the study on 195 real sector cooperatives showed that the level of mandatory disclosure is 31.4%, the highest is 59.4%, and the lowest is 7.5%. Multiple regression analysis shows that information technology, audit types, and entity size, have a significant effect on Mandatory Disclosure of SAK ETAP, while industry types have an moderat significant effect. The theoretical contribution is to provide insight into the use of mimetic and normative isomorphism in explaining mandatory disclosures, while stakeholders can provide input for considering policy and decision making regarding the implementation of financial reporting based on SAK ETAP

Pengaruh Corporate Governance Terhadap Tingkat Kepatuhan Mandatory Disclosure Konvergensi IFRS

This study aims to determine the influence of corporate governance on compliance level of Mandatory Disclosure IFRS Convergence. Data obtained from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) through the website www.idx.co.id in the form of annual reports presented in manufacturing companies in 2020-2021. Pursuant to purposive sampling criterion 150 company used as sample in this research. Hypothesis test in this research using multiple linear regression method. The results showed that the number of members of the board of commissioners has no effect on the compliance level mandatory disclosure IFRS convergence is indicated by the value of regression coefficient of 0.002 with significance of 0.615> α 0.05. Ownership of dispersion has an effect on compliance mandatory disclosure level of IFRS convergence shown by regression coefficient value equal to 0,043 with significance equal to 0,044 <α 0,05. The number of board meetings has no effect on mandatory disclosure level of IFRS convergence indicated by regression coefficient value of 0.002 with significance of 0,558> α 0,05. The number of audit committees has an influence on compliance mandatory disclosure level IFRS convergence is indicated by regression coefficient value of 0.033 with significance of 0.002 <α 0.05.

Faktor-Faktor yang Mempengaruhi Tingkat Pengungkapan Wajib LKPD Kabupaten/Kota di Kalimantan Selatan

This study tested and proved the effect of intergovernmental revenue, regional wealth, regional expenditure, and human development index on the level of mandatory disclosure of local government financial statements in South kalimantan. The independent variables in this study is intergovernmental revenue, regional wealth, regional expenditure, and human development index. Meanwhile, the dependent variable in this study is level of mandatory disclosure of local government financial statements. Population of this research covers 13 districts and cities within South Kalimantan in the period 2015-2018. The sample was selected using purposive sampling method and obtain of 52 local government financial statements. The analysis technique used on this study is multiple linear regression by SPSS 25 program. The result showed the variable intergovernmental revenue have effect on the level of mandatory disclosure. Variable regional wealth, regional expenditure and human development index do not have effect on the level of mandatory disclosure. This study also indicate that average of mandatory disclosure in South Kalimantan province is 77,98%.

Drivers of mandatory disclosure in GCC region firms

PurposeThis paper aims to investigate firm-level variations in the extent of mandatory disclosures and address the drivers of mandatory disclosure using data from the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) region.Design/methodology/approachThe extent of mandatory disclosure is examined using a disclosure index created with reference to 24 International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs).FindingsThe authors find that the extent of mandatory disclosure required by applicable IFRSs/International Accounting Standards increases with international presence, group firms, the level of voluntary disclosure, firm age and the education level of company financial controllers. It decreases with firm size and the proportion of institutional share ownership. The degree of board independence is positively related to the level of mandatory disclosure in firms with no state ownership. Profitability positively affects the level of mandatory disclosure to a greater extent in more liquid GCC firms. The results confirm that there is a greater sensitivity of mandatory disclosure to loss than to profit. Loss increases, whilst profit decreases, the extent of mandatory disclosure.Research limitations/implicationsThe results promote further understanding of international financial reporting differences in an emerging country setting.Practical implicationsThe findings provide a detailed insight to investors, financial analysts, practitioners and academics.Originality/valueThe authors develop a highly granular mandatory disclosure index in a developing country setting and identify key drivers of such disclosure.

Post-regulation effects on driving factors (no) environmental disclosures about greenhouse gas emissions in Italian companies

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to analyze the simultaneous effect of the regulation (non-financial information (NFI)- 254/2016) and the factors driving in (no)environmental disclosure (ED) and the reduction of greenhouse gases (GHG) of Italian companies.Design/methodology/approachThe study is supported by the theory of legitimacy. The level of ED regarding GHG was measured for 125 Italian companies in 2018, the companies were selected from Commissione Nazionale per le Società e la Borsa di Itália, because those included in the list of companies in the Dichiarazione Non Finanziaria all date back to December 31, 2019. Using a scoring system and content analysis of their annual reports, through 20 criteria supported by the literature. The study explores variables of the current legislation, the effect of disclosure and no disclosure, and the influence of the shareholding structure, managerial shareholding, economic power and industry classification at the ED level. The analyses were carried out using structural equation modeling because the authors seek to understand the cause-effect relationship between aspects of legitimacy with dissemination on GHG emissions.FindingsThis study finds that NFI.Research limitations/implicationsThe study is limited to understanding the effect of legislation on the level of mandatory disclosure in non-financial reports, and the Paris Agreement (voluntary) disclosure on GHG, so the choice of companies analyzed and the study variables are limited to companies that are required to publish non-financial reports, and the variables considered in the study take into account normative aspects and voluntary guidelines of the Paris Agreement. As implications, the results show that adherence to the Paris Agreement contributes more to the quality and comprehensiveness of the information than adherence to the European and Italian legislation (mandatory), which reinforces the understanding that even if the legislation has advanced, it is still soft regarding the quality of information on companies' practices regarding the reduction of GHG emissions.Practical implicationsThe findings suggest that non-financial reports are being adopted by listed Italian companies, however, there is variation in the scope of the reports, especially on GHG. For companies listed in Italy, non-financial reports comply with Italian Legislative Decree 254/2016 (mandatory), however, the quality of information on GHG is improved when companies' reports have greater adherence to the Paris Agreement (voluntary).Social implicationsThe results can encourage companies listed in Italy to incorporate NFI in annual reports based on the Paris Agreement, the global pact to reduce GHG emissions, thus building confidence in the capital market and society in general.Originality/valueThe findings contribute to the literature on non-financial reporting, the level of compliance with legal basis and international best practices, such as the Paris Agreement, providing empirical analyzes of non-financial disclosures in publicly available reports in Italy.

 This study examines risk disclosure which is currently a fairly hot discussion among researchers. There are few studies have examined the relationship between mandatory disclosure and corporate voluntary disclosure. In this study, researchers will conduct a descriptive study of mandatory and voluntary disclosure conducted by BUMN in Indonesia. The result of the research shows that the level of mandatory disclosure that should be carried out by SOEs and the level of risk disclosure that is voluntary by BUMN It is hoped that from this research there will be a follow-up in the form of government policies to improve the level of disclosure of BUMN in Indonesia.

Domination of Regional Wealth as a Determining Factor of Financial Statement Disclosure

AbstractUsing Stewardship theory, this study examines the factors that influence the level of mandatory disclosure within financial statements of provincial governments in Indonesia, including size of government, regional wealth, number of Regional Working Units (SKPD), administrative age of government and audit findings. By applying the purposive sampling method, this study uses a sample of financial statements from 27 provinces in Indonesia during 2016 to 2018, therefore the total sample is 81 financial statements. The findings reveal that there is a moderate level of compliance with key mandatory disclosures (61,33%). In addition, the regression analysis shows that from the five potential predictor variables, regional wealth is the only predictor that is significantly positive towards the level of mandatory disclosure within financial statements of Indonesian provincial governments. Given overall non-compliance rate of over 38% there is a clear need for the Indonesian government especially the Supreme Audit Board (BPK) to better enforce provincial government's compliance combined with important financial reforms and regulations.

Corporate social responsibility and stock price informativeness: The public interest perspective

AbstractIn this paper, we propose a new theory that sheds a different light on the potential relationship between Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Stock Price Informativeness (PI). More specifically, we explain why a neutral association between CSR and PI can be an indicator of high economic and social welfare, while a positive association can be an indicator of both markets and governments failure. Under a neutral relationship, we argue that mandatory disclosure is getting firms to disclose near their optimal level. Therefore, any voluntary disclosure beyond the mandatory regime (such as CSR disclosure) should not improve PI. We base our hypothesis on public interest theory that suggests that regulators promote the public interest when a market failure is identified. On the other hand, under a positive association between CSR and PI, we argue that regulators do not offer adequate incentives for firms to disclose at their socially optimal levels because the level of voluntary disclosure by socially responsible firms is optimal in comparison to the level of mandatory disclosure provided by other firms with weak CSR engagement.

Mandatory Disclosure Level, Sports and Financial Performance of Brazilian Soccer Clubs

Purpose : The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the level of mandatory disclosure of Brazilian soccer clubs in order to verify the existence of a relationship between accounting disclosure, financial performance, and the clubs’ sporting performance. Methods : We employ a qualitative and quantitative research method by empirically developing a disclosure index. The data were collected on the websites of football clubs and their federations. The sample is composed of 76 Brazilian soccer clubs by belonging to the ranking list of the Brazilian Football Confederation. A multiple linear regression allowed investigating the relationship between the main variables of the study. Relevance : The work contributes to a discussion about the soccer performance and the conformity of the recognition, measurement, and disclosure of the accounting acts and facts of the Brazilian soccer clubs. These entities have become important sources of business and stakeholders are more interested in the transparency of their transactions. Results : There is a low adhesion of sports entities to the mandatory disclosure requirements. It was observed that of the 36 items of mandatory disclosure no club met 100% of the rules of publication, recognition, measurement, and disclosure accounting. While the average of all clubs was 33.8%, Clube de Regatas Flamengo and Sport Club Internacional reported 88.9% mandatory disclosure. Theoretical/methodological contributions : We find that the level of mandatory disclosure is positively related to the intangible asset, revenue, sports performance, locality of the club and the period of experience in disclosing the mandatory accounting items. Social Contributions : This analysis can provide insights that allow the stakeholder to observe the level of economic and sports organization of Brazilian football clubs, and the degree of commitment to transparency and governance

Analisis Faktor-Faktor Yang Mempengaruhi Tingkat Pengungkapan Wajib Laporan Keuangan Pemerintah Daerah

This study aims to analyze the effect of local government characteristics on the level of mandatory disclosure of local government financial statements (LKPD) based on Government Accounting Standards. The sample in this study amounted to 57 District / City LKPDs in Indonesia in 2015-2017. The average level of mandatory disclosure of Regional Government Financial Reports is 61%. The size of the local government, the age of the regional government, the number of SKPD, the Dependency Level, the Regional financial independence ratio, and the Audit Opinion did not influence the level of mandatory disclosure of local government financial statements. While the wealth of the Regional Government has a positive and significant effect on the level of mandatory disclosure of local government financial statements.

Transparency of public private partnership (PPP): the extent of mandatory information disclosure

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to examine the extent public listed construction firms in Malaysia disclose mandatory information on public private partnership (PPP) projects. This paper is important as the level of disclosure of PPP information reflects the extent of transparency as practiced by the companies involved in PPP projects.Design/methodology/approachIn achieving the aim, a content analysis procedure was carried out to analyse the 2015 annual reports of the construction companies. Descriptive statistics including the mean score, frequency and percentage were employed to analyse the disclosure of the annual report.FindingsThe overall mean disclosure score of the sampled companies is 40 per cent, which connotes a low level of disclosure of mandatory information on PPP. The companies also tend to disclose more mandatory financial information than non-financial information.Originality/valueThis paper is one of the few studies that investigated the level of mandatory disclosure of PPP information, thus contributing to the scanty literature on PPP transparency not only in Malaysia but also internationally.

Voluntary Disclosure and Investor Sentiment

We develop firm-specific voluntary and mandatory disclosure measures using information provided by firms in their 8K filings. Our measures allow for much broader coverage in the time-series and crosssection of firms relative to prior disclosure measures — depending on the prior measure used, we double or triple the sample size. We also show that an 8K-based voluntary disclosure measure subsumes voluntary prior disclosure measures employed (e.g., management forecasts, non-GAAP earnings, conference calls) and captures additional variation. We also document a positive association between our 8K-based voluntary and mandatory disclosure measures and firm characteristics frequently linked to overall firm disclosure. To support the usefulness of our measures, we reexamine the link between voluntary disclosure and investor sentiment, a theoretical relation with mixed empirical results in the literature. We find a negative relation between voluntary disclosure and investor sentiment, consistent with managers increasing disclosure to correct low-sentiment induced mispricing, even after controlling for the level of mandatory disclosure. Consistent with this story, mispricing is corrected more for firms that increase their corporate voluntary disclosure following low sentiment periods.

ASIMETRI INFORMASI DAN MANDATORY DISCLOSURE KONVERGENSI INTERNATIONAL FINANCIAL REPORTING STANDARD: EFEK TERHAADAP RELEVANSI NILAI INFORMASI LABA DAN NILAI BUKU

This reasearch aimed to recognize the impact of information asimmetry and mandatory disclosure IFRS convergence toward value relevance of earnings and book value. The population in this study are manufakture companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) year 2016. Sampling method that use is purposive sampling. The number of samples in this study are 68 samples. Types of data us is secondary data obtained from www.idx.co.id. Analysis technique used were Moderated Regression Analysis by SPSS 15.0. The results showed that the mandatory disclosure level of IFRS convergence increases the relevance of information on the value of earnings, the mandatory disclosure level of IFRS convergence does not increase the relevance of book information value, information asymmetry does not decrease the value relevance of earnings information, and information asymmetry decreases the relevance of book information value.

Apakah Kecukupan Pengungkapan telah Dipertimbangkan oleh Badan Pemeriksa Keuangan dalam Perumusan Opini?

The objective of this study is to assess the disclosure level of Local Government Financial Statement (LGFS) of 2013 and 2014 that achieved unqualified opinion. This study also aims to identify the factors that caused ignorance of disclosure adequacy criteria by SAI auditor in formulating their opinion. A mandatory disclosure scoring technique was applied based on the criteria of the newest Government Compliance Index (GCI) to assess the LGFS disclosure level. This study also implemented pattern matching technique and plausible rival explanation strategy to identify the main factor that caused the case study problem. The result of scoring proves that the average of LGFS mandatory disclosure level are still low, i.e. 53.79% and 56.14% for 2013 and 2014. The pattern matching analysis reveals that SAI auditors have ignored LGFS disclosure inadequacy and decided not to modify their opinion. Meanwhile, the result of examining plausible rival explanation shows the other factors which contributed to cause problem studied, consist of insufficient implementation of disclosure testing procedure, the tolerance of high level auditors on the finding of LGFS disclosure inadequacy, and the existence of external political pressure.

The effect of disclosure level on managerial performance and good governance of commercial banks in Bangladesh

Voluntary and mandatory disclosure level of financial and non-financial items in annual report contributes to increase managerial performance, ensure good governance and enhance the business's public image. The aim of present study, based on secondary data of selected 8 (eight) banks, is to identify the effect of disclosure score on bank's managerial performance (measured by profitability and liquidity position) and on good governance (measured by board size and percentages of independent director). A total of 210 items of information are identified as a total disclosure index, which includes 87 mandatory disclosure items and 123 voluntary disclosure items. An un-weighted disclosure index method (dichotomous procedure) is used to measure the total level of disclosure in annual reports of sample banks. Results of multiple regression analysis of the study prove that commercial banks with high profitability and strong liquidity position disclose more detailed information in their annual reports than commercial banks with lower or negative profit and with weaker liquidity position. The study also depicts that more directors on the board contribute more encourages for providing huge information in annual reports than a commercial bank having lower number of directors on board, while percentage of independent director on board does not impact the level of disclosure in annual reports of commercial bank. The study suggests that all commercial banks should maintain separate department namely Financial Administration Division (FDA) for Accounting Information System (AIS).

ANALISA TINGKAT KEPATUHAN PENGUNGKAPAN WAJIB KONVERGENSI IFRS 2012 : STUDI KASUS PERUSAHAAN CONSUMER GOODS YANG TERDAFTAR DI BURSA EFEK INDONESIA 2011-2012

<p><em>A recent trending issue in the world of accounting is the issue of the convergence of the 2012 </em><em>International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The process of this convergence has started since 2008 and is expected to be finished by 2011, so that it may be fully implemented in 2012. There are several main characteristics of IFRS, i.e. principal based, fair value, and disclosure.</em></p><p><em>This research is conducted with the purpose of assessing the level of compliance with mandatory disclosure IFRS Convergence 2012 for consumer goods companies listed in the Indonesian Stock Exchange within the period of 2011-2012. The sample is selected using </em><em>purposive sampling techniques and twenty seven (27) research samples are acquired in the consumer goods industry. To measure the level of compliance with mandatory disclosure, the </em><em>Dichotomous method is used in this research by using items from the </em><em>IFRS Presentation & Disclosure Checklist issued by </em><em>Deloitte in 2012.</em></p><p><em>The result of this research shows that the average level of compliance with mandatory disclosure IFRS Convergence 2012 for consumer goods companies is 75.95% which can be seen from four PSAK, i.e. PSAK 14, PSAK 16, PSAK 13 and PSAK 30.The highest level is from PSAK 16, followed by PSAK 14 in second, and PSAK 13 and PSAK 30 in third and fourth respectively.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><strong><em>Keyword:</em></strong><em> </em><em>International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Convergence, Compliance, Mandatory disclosure level</em><em>, International Accounting Standards, C</em><em>onsumer goods company</em></p>

Disclosure is the most important aspect in financial statement. Full disclosure provides an easy understanding about the contents for user in order to make precise decision. This research examines full disclosure of Local Government Financial Statement (LKPD) in Indonesia based on Governmental Accounting Standard (SAP). Moreover, this research explains factors that affect the mandatory disclosure level of province's financial statement in Indonesia from 2009 until 2012 . Those examined factors are audit opinions, audit findings, the level of audit irregularities and local characteristics specifically regional assets, dependency level, the size of area, population, and local government work unit (SKPD).

Pengaruh Kemandirian Keuangan Daerah, Diferensiasi Fungsional Dan Spesialisasi Fungsional Terhadap Tingkat Pengungkapan Wajib Laporan Keuangan Pemerintah Daerah

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of local financial independence , functional differentiation and functional specialization of the level of mandatory disclosure of financial statements of local government . The average level of mandatory disclosure of the financial statements of local government in regencies/ cities in Aceh amounted to 48.65 % . The data used are secondary data from the financial statements of the second level governments . Total population in this study were 23 regencies/ cities in Aceh 2013-2014 fiscal year . Statistical method used to test the hypothesis is multiple linear regression . The results showed that, simultaneously local financial independence, functional differentiation and functional specialization affect the level of mandatory disclosure of financial statements of local government. Partially local financial independence affects the level of mandatory disclosure of financial statements of local government, functional differentiation affects the level of mandatory disclosure of financial statements of local government, and functional specialization affect the level of mandatory disclosure of financial statements of local government.
