Pengaruh Pola Asuh Orang Tua terhadap Minat Belajar Siswa Setingkat Sekolah Menengah Atas

This study aims to analyze the influence of parental parenting on students' interest in learning at the high school level in Indonesia. The role of educators is not only the responsibility of teachers at school, parents have an important role to support children's education when outside of school. Effective and efficient parenting has a great influence on students' interest in learning, at school students receive education and at home students actualize what they have received, the role of parents is important to provide the right response so that it is able to increase the motivation of students' interest in learning. The urgency of parental parenting for children, especially for high school students who are in adulthood. Thus, the form of parental attention to their children in education is not only in material form, but must be balanced with parental attention that is given directly, not only the provision of facilities that support education. But also, motivate children in learning, accompany them, ask questions, help solve problems faced and so on. This study applies a literature review method through analysis of various relevant scientific sources. The results of the study revealed that parental parenting has a real contribution to increasing students' interest in learning, especially students at the high school level. The influence of parental parenting has an important role because it can encourage the emergence of students' self-awareness in learning. Parents are expected to be able to create and maintain a supportive environment in increasing students' interest in learning in order to achieve learning with maximum results.

Analysis of Discipline Character and Learning Interest on Student Learning Outcomes

This study was motivated by the decline in student learning outcomes in the odd semester of the 2022/2023 school year which was caused by students paying less attention to the explanation and material from the teacher during the learning process. Such as not doing assignments on time, often chatting alone when the teacher explains, lack of interest in learning, and there are some children who have low learning outcomes. Therefore, it is necessary to instill discipline in learning since childhood, because it will help children control themselves in the formation of self-awareness in learning without an element of compulsion. This study aims to determine the relationship between learning discipline and students' interest in learning. The research method used is a quantitative method with a correlational approach that uses ex post facto research. The sample in the study was class III students with a total of 14 people, whose sampling used the saturated sample method because all students in class III were sampled in the study. Data collection was carried out using questionnaire and documentation techniques. The results showed that: 1) There is a significant relationship between learning discipline and student learning outcomes with a Thitung value of 8.131. 2) There is a significant relationship between learning discipline and student learning outcomes with a Thitung of 3.459. 3). There is a significant relationship simultaneously between learning discipline and learning interest on student learning outcomes with a T-count of 6.698.

Developing older adults’ learner autonomy through one-to-one counselling: Results of an exploratory investigation

Developing autonomous learning to maintain independent learning practice in an effective way is a crucial ability in adult education (Confessore & Park, 2004). Therefore, this study investigates the potential of one-to-one learning counselling to promote older learners' learner autonomy (aged 50 and older). Twenty-five older learners participated in the exploratory study. Reflective learning diaries and qualitatively oriented questionnaires were used as research tools to track participants' autonomous learning behaviour. We applied grounded theory and network analysis to see the complex interrelations of underlying constructs. Results show that comprehension and speaking development are significant incentives for older adults' language learning. Further, self-awareness in learning and metacognitive knowledge were identified as important constructs for self-study practice. Cognitive stimulation, sustained learner motivation and certain self-relating constructs continuously affected older adults’ learning behaviour. Application of cognitive- and memory-enhancing learning strategies, as well as technology-supported learning materials, played an important role in independent learning practice. General perceived self-efficacy and self-management were areas developed beyond language learning.

Social Media as Mobile Learning Oral Chat-Based Constructive Communication to Improve Speaking Skills

WhatsApp is one of the most practical, cost-effective, and communicative mobile applications for college students to enhance their speaking skills. This study reconciled to consuetude college students to flexible habitual use of the English language learning and intended to improve their speaking abilities with specially tailored learning resources and activities aid known as WhatsApp-based speaking instructional material (WABSIM). This exploratory mixed-methods research evaluated oral chat-based utilization of WhatsApp by twenty-eight students for one semester using audio voice messages and video recordings of communicative activities in pairs or groups, dialogues, and interviews activities recorded in the WhatsApp group managed to produce every day classroom and noncollegiate activities. Speaking test consisted of an oral evaluation of student's fluency, vocabulary used, grammar, pronunciation, and comprehensibility aspects. It reveals that students demonstrated a stupendous developing speaking interest in building English sentences by raising questions and delivering responses, improved learning collaboration, created better learning engagement, increased learning self-awareness, and accelerated flexible communication. Besides, students achieved substantial academic progress astoundingly in a semester. Therefore, to emerge the significance acknowledged from this current study, in the current era of mobile technology advancement supporting teaching and learning English, WhatsApp oral chat-based assistance offering teaching and learning English flexibility is the most effective.

The Power of Aha! On Stimulating and Guiding Students towards Self-Awareness and Critical Reflection while Teaching about Personality Psychology and Gender Stereotypes

This qualitative study introduces a pedagogic design which addresses the challenging task of teaching and learning self-awareness and critical reflection in the teaching of psychology. The context of the study was a course in personality psychology for first year students, and the topic of interest was how the perception of personality is affected by gender stereotypes. The pedagogic design included the recording of a mixed-sex dialogue, which was then digitally altered for pitch and timbre producing two gender-switched versions of one single recording. Students were divided into two groups who listened to one of the two different voice alterations, and were given the task to rate the personality traits of male or female sounding versions of the same character. In the subsequent debriefing seminar, students were presented with the data from their ratings. These results were then used as a reference point for inter-group discussion, and later students were also asked to reflect over the activity individually in writing. A thematic analysis of their written answers indicates that this pedagogic setup, in combination with guided reflection, can be helpful to challenge students’ own assumptions, aiding self-awareness and critical reflection related to stereotyping.

Developing senior learners’ autonomy in language learning. An exploratory study of Hungarian adult educators’ support strategies

ABSTRACT This paper outlines findings from a research project on Hungarian foreign language (FL) teachers’ conceptualizations of helping senior language learners to develop their autonomy in learning. Semi-structured interviews were conducted in order to explore the applied instructional approaches to teaching older adults and developing their learner autonomy in- and outside the classroom. In particular, we investigated interviewees’ perspective on one-to-one counseling for autonomous learning, a method for out-of-class development. Results show that instructional methods entail characteristics of communicative language teaching but also consider older learners altered cognitive abilities and their different interests of language learning. As for the conceptualization of learner autonomy-development, learner-centeredness as an overarching notion is present when deepening general language skills but also when promoting learner autonomy. We also found that participating teachers would draw careful attention to the importance of raising self-awareness in learning, particularly when promoting learner autonomy in one-to-one counseling.

Enactive management: dancing with uncertainty and complexity

Purpose– The purpose of this paper is to present and explain an enactive tool to be used by managers to move effectively in the context of high uncertainty and complexity that organizations nowadays operate.Design/methodology/approach– The approach raises in the enactive management that focusses on the ability of the manager to incorporate distinctions as an observer and self-observer to design interactions that can move the situation to be transformed. The key ontological tool that allow this learning is called CLEHES©.Findings– Using a soft technology as CLEHES, re configures the ways to observe and self-observe of manager and opens the design possibilities of the situation in which the organization is. Managers become choreographers in the sense they can design and move the interactions they observe. The embodied us of this tool requires an educational program that takes the form of hermeneutical laboratory where managers incorporate distinctions in the body and change the perspective they enact.Practical implications– This approach evokes changes in the observer and the enactor situation/situated in the organizational areas where the manager is responsible.Originality/value– A different and nurturing technology to self-observer and observation, allow enactive management in multiples domains and organizational contexts where the manager dance. The structural dynamics of the CLEHES dimensions creates multiples realities, through enactive conversations in a learning self-awareness process.
