THE DEVELOPMENT OF VIRTUAL VIDEO ANIMATED BASED ON ENGLISH TEACHING MEDIA FOR THE EIGHTH STUDENTS AT JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL FITRA ABDI PALEMBANG

This research aims to develop virtual animated video-based teaching media to increase students' interest in learning and understanding in English teaching and learning activities in class VIII SMP Fitra Abdi Palembang. The method used in this research is research and development with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Trials using a questionnaire showed that this media was very interesting with a percentage of 91.9% according to the attractiveness criteria. The results of the pre-test and post-test conducted on 30 students showed significant improvement. In the pre-test, only 7 students achieved scores according to the criteria for completeness of learning outcomes. After learning using virtual animated videos, 28 students achieved scores above the criteria for learning completeness (70), while 2 students were still below these criteria. The overall class avera1ge increased to 79.3. It can be concluded that virtual English video animation media is effective and successful in improving student learning outcomes and their interest in the learning process.

A new guided flipped learning model for lifelong learning

ABSTRACT Flipped learning model is currently implemented where conventional lectures take place before class hours, while in-class time is used for hands-on activities and problem-solving under the teacher’s guidance. However, students’ inability to fully engage and complete their learning activities before the class hours and the lack of clear instruction during in-class learning activities can greatly hinder the learning experience. Under this circumstance, a new flipped model, named guided flipped learning (GFL) model, was proposed by embedding study-summary-quiz and think-pair-share strategies into the conventional flipped learning process to overcome the current challenges. To investigate the effectiveness of the proposed GFL model, a quasi-experimental study was conducted. The results showed that GFL significantly enhanced students’ engagement (behavioural, agentic, and emotional) and learning achievement. The proposed GFL model strengthens the quality of the pre-class learning activities and provides clear instruction for in-class learning activities. The results provide educational policy makers the means to effectively revise the conventional flipped model with GFL for lifelong learning.

Increasing Student Learning Activeness by Using Puzzle Media in Learning Pancasila Education at SMPN 38 Palembang

This research was motivated by the problem of low learning activeness of class VIII students in junior high schools. Students look passive, lack self-confidence, and show low learning motivation in the learning process. This research aims to increase students' learning activeness through the use of crossword puzzle and word search puzzle media in learning Pancasila Education class VIII.6 at SMP Negeri 38 Palembang. This research was carried out using the classroom action research method which was carried out over 2 cycles where each cycle consisted of 1 meeting and 1 assessment which consisted of 4 stages, namely: planning, action, reflection and evaluation. The subjects in this research were all students in class VIII.6 of SMP Negeri 38 Palembang, consisting of 15 male students and 17 female students. This research was conducted using a quantitative approach with observational data collection techniques. Observations were carried out by observing observers whose results were analyzed using percentage descriptive data analysis techniques. This research shows that the use of crossword puzzle and word search puzzle media in learning can increase the learning activity of class VIII.6 students at SMP Negeri 38 Palembang. This can be seen from the observation results obtained in the pre-cycle which show that students' learning activeness has a percentage of 49.78%, then in cycle 1 it increased by 24.66% to 74.44%, and in cycle 2 it increased by 14.40% to 88.84%. This shows that the use of crossword puzzle and word search puzzle media in learning can increase the learning activity of students in class VIII.6 SMPN 38 Palembang.

Development of Interactive Learning Media Based on Learning Management System in Class X English Learning at SMAN 1 Gunungputri

This research aims to develop, test the feasibility, and measure the effectiveness of developing interactive learning media based on the Learning Management System in class X English subjects at SMAN 1 Gunungputri. This research uses the ADDIE development model. To test feasibility, researchers used validation from media experts, learning design experts and material experts and considered the results of user responses, namely teachers and students. The feasibility test results obtained from media experts were 74%, instructional design experts were 85%, material expert tests were 98%, teacher users were 92%, small group tests were 95% and large group tests were 97%. These results indicate that the use of interactive learning media is suitable to support the process of English learning activities in class X at SMAN 1 Gunungputri. Data analysis of pre-test and post-test scores showed that the average pre-test score of students was 55 and the average post-test score was 89. The results of effectiveness testing using the N-Gain test showed a result of 0.8, which is at “Effective” category. So, it is concluded that the use of interactive media based on the Learning Management System is effective in improving the learning outcomes of class X students at SMAN 1 Gunungputri.

History in context: teaching the history of dentistry with rare materials.

History and health humanities instruction offers a framework for professional students to examine the arc and development of their profession as well as develop cultural competencies. Exploring ideas, themes, and health care practices and approaches through historical instruction can show students how culture influences health care and practice, therefore providing a context for further development of cultural competence skills. This case report describes a collaboration among a dentistry course instructor, a liaison librarian, and curators of a rare book collection. Working together, this team offers an active learning class that examines the historical arc of the dental profession. We aim to have students use primary source materials to examine the experiences, research, and narratives of their profession. Using a World Cafe with thematic tables allows students to safely examine rare materials and artifacts and have meaningful conversations about themes that are critical to dentistry's past, present, and future. Students reported that engaging with artifacts and historical materials provided a different way to understand history and enhanced their learning experience. Engaging students in this work builds critical thinking skills that are essential to evidence-based practice.

The Influence of Learning Interest, Peer Environment, Learning Facilities, and Learning Discipline on the Learning Activity of Class X Accounting Students at SMK N 03 Mukomuko

This study aims to determine the effect of learning interest on student learning activity. Peer environment on student learning activity. Student learning facilities on student learning activity. Learning discipline on student learning activity. Simultaneously, the influence of learning interest, peer environment, learning facilities, and student learning discipline. This type of research is quantitative. The population of this study was class X accounting students of SMK N 03 Mukomuko; the sampling technique used was total sampling with a sample size of 65 students. The SPSS version 21 and Reviews version 8 programs assisted in data analysis. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is a significant positive influence between the influence of learning interest, peer environment, and learning discipline on the learning activity of class X Accounting students of SMK N 03 Mukomuko.

Tindak Tutur Guru dalam Pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di SMAN 4 Pasuruan

This study aims to describe the form of perlocutionary speech acts used by teachers in Indonesian language learning at SMAN 4 Pasuruan. Speech acts used by teachers in learning activities have been widely analyzed by previous researchers, but have not been found specifically discussing perlocutionary speech acts. This perlocutionary speech act is difficult to identify, because it must be accompanied by the context so that it causes influence by the interlocutor. This research uses descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The subject of the research is Indonesian language teachers, while the object of research is Indonesian language learning activities. The instruments in this study consisted of primary instruments, namely the researcher himself, and secondary instruments, namely data collection tables. The data of this research is the teacher's speech when conducting learning activities in class XI. The data source was obtained from the observation at the school located at SMAN 4 Pasuruan. This data collection technique uses observation, recording, interview, documentation, and recording the results of the recording in the form of data transcripts. The data analysis technique uses stages such as data reduction, data presentation, data interpretation, conclusion drawing and verification. The result of this research is the form of perlocutionary speech acts using Leech's theory. The forms of perlocutionary speech acts found include indicators of giving the interlocutor know that, persuade, encourage, annoy, frighten, please, make the interlocutor do something, inspire, impress, divert attention, make the interlocutor think about, relieve, embarrass, attract attention, and tedious. However, no data was found on the indicators of deceiving and inspiring. The form of perlocutionary speech act that is most commonly found in this study is in the indicator of encouraging and making the interlocutor do something.

Peningkatkan Hasil Belajar Siswa melalui Strategi Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) pada Mata Pelajaran IPAS di Kelas IV Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Swasta Nurul Yaqin Simpang Sungai Duren

This study examines how the Contextual Teaching and Learning paradigm might improve fourth-grade IPAS students' academic performance at MI Nurul Yaqin Simpang Sungai Duren. This study is a classroom action research (PTK) focused on the subject of IPAS concerning force material in the surrounding environment, employing CTL methodologies. The employed data gathering methods included the observation of student and instructor activities, test questions, documentation, and interviews. This PTK was conducted across two cycles, each comprising three meetings. The results of this study are 1) The results of observations of student learning activities and teacher teaching practices in Class IV MI Nurul Yaqin have increased. The outcomes of student learning activities in Cycle I were 57.61%, which climbed to 90.47% in Cycle II. Observations of teacher learning activities in Class IV MI Nurul Yaqin indicated a rise from 61% in Cycle I to 90% in Cycle II. The academic performance of grade IV pupils at MI Swasta Nurul Yaqin, originally below the standard, improved with the use of CTL approaches, achieving an average completeness rate of 59% in cycle I and 85.18% in cycle II. Fourth-graders at MI Nurul Yaqin Simpang Duren can improve their IPAS academic performance using CTL.

Pengaruh Metode Resitasi Oleh Guru PAK Terhadap Keaktifan Belajar Siswa Kelas VIII SMP Negeri 4 Sibolga Tahun Ajaran 2023/2024

The purpose of this study was to determine the extent of the Influence of the Recitation Method by PAK Teachers on the Learning Activity of Class VIII Students of SMP Negeri 4 Sibolga in the 2023/2024 Academic Year, with the hypothesis that there is a positive and significant influence of the recitation method by PAK teachers on the learning activity of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 4 Sibolga in the 2023/2024 Academic Year. With a population of all class VIII students of SMP Negeri 4 Sibolga who are Protestant Christians totaling 121 people with a sample of 37 people, this study uses a descriptive method with a random sampling technique. Data were collected with a closed questionnaire of 40 items compiled by the author based on variable indicators according to expert theory. The questionnaire trial was conducted on 30 students of SMP Negeri 4 Sibolga in the 2023/2024 Academic Year using 46 questionnaire questions and after being tested, the results of the validity of the questionnaire trial were found to be rcount = -0.352 - 0.609 (there were 6 question items that had a validity of less than rtable 0.361 so that invalid questionnaires were discarded. Thus, the valid questionnaires amounted to 40 questions. And the reliability of the questionnaire trial which was at a value of 0.899 had been tested for validity and reliability. The results of the data analysis showed that there was a positive and significant influence between the Recitation Method by PAK Teachers on the Learning Activity of Class VIII Students of SMP Negeri 4 Sibolga in the 2023/2024 Academic Year. With the relationship test, it was obtained that rcount> rtable, namely 0.706> 0.325, with a significant relationship test of tcount> ttable, namely 8.319>2.021, with a linear regression test Y ̂ = α+bx = 23.39+0.355X. This equation shows that in a constant state of 26.98, for every addition of variable X (recitation method) by one unit, there will be an increase in variable Y (student learning activity) by 0.355 from (variable X), coefficient of determination 49.84%. This means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. The significant effect test with Fcount>Ftable (34.735>4.08) means that there is a positive and significant effect between the recitation method by PAK teachers on the learning activity of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 4 Sibolga in the 2023/2024 Academic Year. This study suggests that teachers always increase the use of the recitation method in the teaching and learning process, so that class VIII students of SMP Negeri 4 Sibolg are more active in participating in class learning.

STUDENTS’ LEARNING ACTIVITIES IN PHYSICS CLASSES OF GRADE X BY IMPLEMENTING INQUIRY TRAINING MODEL

This research aims to analyze students’ learning activities in implementing the inquiry training learning model in grade X. The physics lesson material taken in this research is linear motion. SMAN Percut Sei Tuan is the location where the research was carried out. The samples in this study were two classes: grade X-9 which uses inquiry training model and X-5 which uses direct instruction model. The type of this research is quasi experiment. The observation sheet was used as an instrument in this research. The data in this research were analyzed using the independent sample t test to find out the differences in student learning activities using the inquiry training model and the direct instruction model. Student learning activities are observed during learning activities by an observer. The average of student learning activity in class X-9 is 80 and class X-5 is 71. Based on the results of data analysis, it was found that the sign value < 0,05. So it can be concluded that there are differences in student learning activities using the inquiry training model and the direct instruction model.

Efforts to Increase Learning Activity in History Subjects According to the Learning Styles of Class X-2 Students at SMA Negeri 3 Medan

This research was conducted because the learning activity of students in class X-2 of SMA Negeri 3 Medan in history subjects was very low. The aim of this research is to increase students' active efforts in learning history. This research was conducted in the odd semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. This research uses the Kemmis and Taggart model. Data collection techniques through student observation and questionnaires. The data processing technique in this research uses descriptive analysis with percentages. The indicators assessed in this research are problem solving, expressing opinions, cooperation and social relations, and discipline. The results of this research show an increase in student learning activity in class X-2 from pre-cycle, cycle I and a very good improvement in cycle II.

Penerapan Gamifikasi dalam Pembelajaran Konjungsi Teks Deskripsi Kelas 9I SMPN 13 Surabaya

This research examines the use of gamification in learning descriptive text conjunctions for class 9I of SMP Negeri 13 Surabaya. How the use of gamification in learning can improve the results and motivation of learning Indonesian for class 9I students. The aim of this research is (1) to increase the learning activities of class 9I students at SMP Negeri 13 Surabaya through the application of gamification in learning (2) to improve the learning outcomes of descriptive text conjunctions for class 9I students at SMP Negeri 13 Surabaya. This research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which includes planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Data collection methods use questionnaires and observation. The instrument used is quantitative descriptive data analysis. The results of this research show an increase in students' motivation and learning participation, as well as a better understanding of conjunctions in Indonesian descriptive texts.

Evaluation of the Effectiveness of MOOC-based Flipped Learning in College Mental Health Curriculum

Background and Aim: The flipped classroom redefines psychological health education by using technology for independent study before class and engaging in interactive and applied learning activities in class. Thus, two research objectives were proposed: (1) To compare the difference in the effectiveness of the new MOOC-based flipped learning on students' learning outcomes compared to traditional teaching in undergraduates’ mental health curriculum. (2) To explore students' attitudes to new MOOC-based flipped teaching methods. Materials and Methods: This study was designed as a pretest and posttest trial. The sample was 60 freshmen from two Sichuan University classes allocated to two groups using purposive samplings: group 1 for traditional learning, and group 2 for flipped learning. The performance test and semi-structured interview were employed in this study as research instruments. Both groups' pretest and posttest scores were obtained for learning outcome comparison. The students' attitudes to the new teaching methods were obtained through semi-structured interviews. Results: The mean pretest and posttest scores in group 1 were 58.87 and 82.17 respectively, while in group 2, they were 58.67 and 86.53 respectively. The mean improvement in knowledge score was significantly higher in group 2 (M=27.87, SD=3.14) compared to group 1 (M=23.30, SD=1.69). The level of statistical significance was P < .001. The results of the semi-structured interviews indicated that almost all participants had very positive opinions regarding flipped learning based on MOOCs. Conclusion: The research demonstrates that MOOC-based flipped learning increases the student learning effectiveness to obtain better score performance and make it worth promoting.

Implementing a Flipped Learning Approach With TPACK in Grades 6 to 9

In this design-based study, a flipped learning approach using audio-visual resources as prelearning activities was examined in grades 6, 7, and 9 with four teachers and 65 students over one school year. The purpose of this study was to explore the implementation of a technology-enhanced pedagogy in science, math, and social studies. The implementation was sequenced to provide students who were also learning the English language with an opportunity to practice engaging with curriculum concepts through viewing prelearning videos with language tailored by the teacher and with embedded questions, prior to in-classroom learning activities. The technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge (TPACK) framework was used to inform the instructional design for the flipped learning activities. Monthly teacher-researcher professional learning sessions were held, and data were gathered from teachers’ reflections and a student survey. Results indicated that teachers had more class time to support students with enrichment, remediation, small group work, and active learning. Students reported that the prelearning video activities benefited their learning and complemented in-class learning activities. This study serves to inform teachers and schools considering implementation of flipped learning to support students’ understanding of content knowledge and English language learning, and researchers studying designs using flipped learning sequences.

The effect of PjBL-integrated STEM on students' cognitive learning abilities class x high school

PjBL-integrated STEM learning appears to impact increasing student motivation, interest, and engagement positively, thus potentially improving students' cognitive learning outcomes. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of the PjBL-integrated STEM learning model on the cognitive learning abilities of grade x high school students. This research is quasi-experimental with a nonequivalent control group design. The research sample was 36 students involved in the experimental class and control class with class x status at SMAN 5 Metro City. The research instrument was 25 multiple-choice questions given to students in the pretest and posttest. The research data are in the form of pretest and posttest scores. The difference in pretest and posttest scores is indicated by the n-gain value. The data analysis technique is through the t-test. The results of the study showed that there was no significant effect of PjBL-integrated STEM learning on students' cognitive abilities because the N-Gain value of the experimental class was smaller than the N-Gain value of the control class (55.42 < 56.26). However, there was a difference between the two classes (t hit 1.66 > t tab -5405). The research results concluded that PjBL-integrated STEM learning had no effect on increasing students' cognitive abilities. Teachers need to understand PjBL-integrated STEM learning to create active and effective learning classes.

Efficiency analysis of engineering classes: A DEA approach encompassing active learning and expositive classes towards quality education

The science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education research delves into the core of sustainable development goals (SDGs), including the pillars of quality education (SDG4), robust economic growth (SDG8), and diminished inequalities (SDG10). These pursuits stand as keystones in sculpting inclusive societies and bridging societal gaps. While previous studies utilising data envelopment analysis (DEA) have explored educational performance mainly from a macro-perspective, there is a lack of micro-perspective investigation. Our study aims to fill this gap by proposing a DEA approach to assess the relative efficiency of engineering classes. We analysed 70 classes covering 38 subjects in the first semester of 2022 at a South American school. Methodologically, we employed the slack-based measure (SBM) model under the benefit of doubt (BoD) condition. Unlike prior research, we analysed classes' relative performance considering different pedagogical approaches - 11 active-learning classes (15.7 %) and 59 passive-learning classes (84.3 %). Our results showed that 18 classes were efficient (25.7 %). Active classes were more efficient, but few subjects maintained similar efficiencies for all classes. Moreover, efficient classes were concentrated in the last two years prior to graduation (57.9 %). This may represent an additional barrier for low-income students, who tend to drop out in the first years. The findings support several improvement recommendations, such as integrating digital technologies, boosting active learning opportunities, and bolstering classes in foundational subjects. Also, implications for researchers, decision- and policy-makers are discussed. Our approach can be replicated in diverse educational contexts, enabling the identification of strengths and weaknesses for more efficient educational management.

Applying Non-Verbal Reinforcement in Increasing Students' Confidence in Economic Subjects

This study was motivated by students' low self-confidence in themselves and the environment, especially in teaching and learning activities in the classroom. This research aims to describe the level of student self-confidence in economics subjects by providing non-verbal reinforcement and the effectiveness of non-verbal reinforcement in increasing students' self-confidence during teaching and learning activities in economics subjects. With a high level of self-confidence, students can experience teaching and learning activities in class in a fun way which has an impact on increasing understanding of economic material. The research method used in this research is quasi-experimental. The population in this study was 146 students, and the sample was 36 students. Data collection in this research used tests and observations. The test in this study was used to measure students' self-confidence. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, percentages and t tests using SPSS. The research results showed that the effectiveness of implementing non-verbal reinforcement in increasing students' self-confidence increased after implementing non-verbal reinforcement. Before being given nonverbal reinforcement, students were in the less confident category when studying economics in class. Meanwhile, after being given non-verbal reinforcement, students experienced an increase in self-confidence when studying economics material in class. There is a significant difference in students' self-confidence after being given nonverbal reinforcement compared to before being given nonverbal reinforcement.

Improving Young Learners’ Vocabulary Skills By Using Busy Book Media With Guessing Games Strategy

The learning media is everything related to facilities and infrastructure (tools/objects) are used to support or to facilitate the delivery of subjects in the learning process to achieve the goals of learning itself. Teachers can use learning media to convey lesson information to students and can stimulate students’ attention, feelings, thoughts, and willingness to learn in order to encourage an effective learning process. Busy book is one of the learning media in teaching in English. “Busy book” is a book made of flannel which contains interesting pictures. This book is very safe for students so that it can be used freely, and has a soft flannel texture and the fabric doesn’t get wet easily so this book can last a for a long time. The purpose of this research is to find out the effectiveness of using busy book media using the guessing game strategy to improve the vocabulary mastery of grade 3 students at SDN 1 Wringinpitu in the 2022/2023 academic year. This research is Action Research carried out in teaching and learning activities in class, so this research includes Classroom Action Research. The result is the guessing game technique can improve students’ vocabulary skills. The results of this action research in the second cycle also prove the action hypothesis that the use of busybooks with guessing games can improve the English vocabulary skills of grade 3 students at SDN 1 Wringinpitu in the 2022/2023 academic year.

Development of Recycled Media in SBdP Learning to Increase Student Learning Activity

This research has a background, namely helping SBdP teacher MI Nurul Iman who lacks in developing recycled media. Therefore, to handle this matter, it is necessary to upgrade from what was originally inorganic waste to now a recycled media that can increase student learning activity. The aim of this research is to develop recycled media in SBdP learning to increase student learning activity. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) which has Define, Design and Develop steps. The research respondents were 25 class V students of MI Nurul Iman, Tangerang City. The results of the research and product development produced show that 1) The development of waste recycling media can increase the learning activity of class V students and is beneficial for the surrounding environment and is good for forming children's character so that they care about the environment where they live; 2) Students responded very well during the recycling development trial process. This is because the results of the student response questionnaire were 88%. Because, with this recycled media students can be creative according to the student's creativity; 3) The use of recycled media in SBdP learning can increase student learning activity, which can be seen from the increase after and before using recycled media, the percentage of students who completed it reached 84% compared to 64% before using recycled media; 4) The importance of creative teachers can increase student activity by providing media that attracts student attention and increases activity in the learning process.

FLIPPED CLASSROOM MODELS IN SCIENCE EDUCATION: INCREASING STUDENT ENGAGEMENT THROUGH INTERACTIVE DIGITAL CONTENT

This study examines how flipped classroom formats affect students' involvement in scientific classes in high school, with an emphasis on the use of interactive digital information. The flipped classroom approach has gained popularity as a cutting-edge teaching strategy because it flips traditional methods of instruction by bringing online instructional information outside of the classroom and bringing in-class active learning activities. This study explores how integrating interactive digital resources into the flipped classroom format can improve student engagement, comprehension, and memory of difficult scientific concepts. Examples of these tools include simulations, video tutorials, and online quizzes. Data were gathered from a sample of high school students and science teachers across different schools using a mixed-methods approach. Pre- and post-intervention surveys measuring student involvement were used to collect quantitative data; interviews and classroom observations were used to collect qualitative data. The findings reveal that using interactive digital information in the flipped classroom paradigm significantly increases student engagement, with students demonstrating more interest and participation in science lessons. During class activities, teachers noted increases in their students' comprehension and teamwork. The study comes to the conclusion that by actively immersing students in the learning process and encouraging a deeper comprehension of scientific topics, the flipped classroom model, when combined with interactive digital resources, offers a potential method to improve science teaching.
