This study aims to examine the meaning of life from the views of paramedics and religious leaders about cancer patients at Ken Saras Hospital, Ungaran. This research is motivated by the fact that most cancer patients lose the meaning of their life. This study applies a descriptive qualitative research approach. Interviews and observations were used to collect data. This research shows that cancer patients need support and assistance to be able to rediscover the meaning of their lives. They can get this support and assistance from various parties, namely families, paramedics and religious leaders. This paper is expected to help families, paramedics and religious leaders to be able to provide support and assistance to cancer patients so that they can rediscover the meaning of their lives. For this purpose, the authors focus on Ken Saras Hospital which treats cancer patients. The author hopes that the results of this study can be a reference for families, paramedics and religious leaders to provide support and assistance to cancer patients in order to find the meaning of their lives.

An Investigation of the Leadership Challenges amongst Women Entrepreneurs

Abstract: Women must live up to collective expectations of what it takes to be a leader while also adhering to particular gender stereotypes. Throughout history, femininity has been portrayed as reliant, meek, and conforming, and as a result, women have been perceived as deficient in leadership traits. The male bias is mirrored in the incorrect view of leadership as merely command or control. Women will be more readily acknowledged as leaders as leadership becomes correctly understood as a process of leaders engaging and mobilizing the human needs of followers, and men will adapt their leadership styles (Burns, 1978). Because women represent more than half of the global talent pool, it is clear that they should be at the forefront of the economic and social scene, not just to be fair, but to ensure that the most prominent minds, men's and women's, are brought together to address the challenges that our societies face. Achieving gender equality in organizations at all levels is a lengthy and difficult path that requires the involvement of the entire company as well as the strong commitment of senior management. This report, The Leadership Challenges of Women Entrepreneurs, provides insight into the ongoing absence of women in leadership posts. Indeed, this study indicates how women talent might be exploited as a competitive advantage to meet the global difficulties that organizations will face soon.

The Producing University: A Proposed formula for the Development of Jordanian University Education to Reach Globalization

The study aimed to present a proposed formula for the university productive philosophy for the development of Jordanian university education to reach the global level from the point of view of the academic leaders at the University of Jordan, and the study community consisted of academic leaders at the University of Jordan for the academic year 2020/2021, and a random sample of (130) academic leaders was chosen. The data were analyzed and the results of the study showed a statistically significant presence at the significance level (0,05 ≤α) for the university’s obstacles. In addition, the results showed a statistically significant presence for Academic Rank (Professor) to reducing access to the university's productive dye. The study recommended conducting research on productive universities and benefiting from their experiences, as well as conducting seminars on benefiting from productive universities.

WOMEN IN THE LOCAL POLITICAL VORTEX: A STUDY OF WOMEN CANDIDATES INVOLVEMENT IN 2020 REGIONAL ELECTIONS IN TANAH DATAR

This study aims to describe the candidacy process and challenges of female candidates in the 2020 regional elections in Tanah Datar Regency as well as campaign issues promoted by female candidates based on gender perspective. This research is a qualitative research using candidacy theory. The findings of this study that the challenge faced by Betty Shadiq Pasadigue in the contestation of the 2020 Regional Elections of Tanah Datar Regency is the emergence of gender stereotypes and negative views of women's leadership as regional leader, although the LKAAM of Tanah Datar Regency has affirmed that women's leadership in the political field is permitted.

In this study, it is aimed to examine educational leadership practices within the framework of educational management. When we look at the common expressions used in definitions about leadership, it is perhaps the most frequently used influence. Leadership has often been seen as influencing others in the direction of a certain goal, and it has been emphasized that influencing is a natural process that takes place within a social system. In the educational environment, it is not enough for educational leaders to realize only opportunities, besides, it is much more important for them to influence and mobilize resources in the direction of evaluating this opportunity. Therefore, from the point of view of the educational leader, it is extremely critical to be able to influence these resources, as well as to find resources and see opportunities. Educational leadership arises and becomes continuous through the acceptance and appreciation of the activities carried out by the group and their results rather than the characteristics of the leader. There are many factors that affect the activities and behaviors of the educational leader. These are the members who form the educational environment and follow the educational leader, the goals, the personal characteristics of the educational leader and the current conditions. In this sense, educational leadership is a managerial role behavior determined by a complex system that varies according to place and time. In this study, as mentioned above, the topic of educational leadership will be discussed as managerial role behavior modeling from the point of view of educational management. School leadership standards and graduate education: Instructional negotiations of theory, practice, and policy regulation.

The presence of school leadership standards in graduate education has come to influence the scope and content of leadership programs, highlighting tensions between political, practical, and scholarly views of leaders and leadership. This paper reports on a study of instructional practices within a graduate program in educational leadership connected to the Alberta Leadership Quality Standard to explore how instructors, as policy actors, encounter leadership standards not just as policies of compliance but of possibility. We interpret interview data from three faculty members through the lens of policy enactment to understand how their instruction negotiated relationships of theory and practice and how they negotiated the policy-based regulatory discourses associated with school leadership standards. Working between images of policy standards as text and discourse, findings show instructors engaged in dialogic commitments that help students develop practical and scholarly competencies while displacing the authority of standards, recontextualizing the standardization of leadership, and displacing the standards’ normative gaze.

Prefigurative leadership: The building of leadership roles in a municipal campaign

Most research on mayoral leadership focuses on how leaders view and exercise power when in office. In contrast, we study ‘prefigurative leadership’ during a municipal campaign, i.e. the way in which putative leaders construct, stage and consolidate a leadership style that foreshadows the way they will exercise power if they get elected. We rely the study of the 2020 French municipal election in Bordeaux, characterized by political alternation, succession to a strong leader, and electoral uncertainty. Candidates endorse a great variety of prefigurative leadership styles and juggle with a series of dilemmas inherent with the complexity of mayoral roles.

This research is based on the economic context that occurs in the people of Bangkalan City in the development of Branding with Islamic terms. This study aims to analyze the opinions of religious leaders in the city of Bangkalan regarding Islamic branding, which still has a question mark regarding its urgency and existence among the people of the city of Bangkalan, especially. The researcher uses qualitative methods, namely research methods that focus on collecting data through observations of around Bangkalan City regarding several local brands that use Islamic Branding and on the other hand also focuses on conducting interviews and documentation to collect data about the views of Bangkalan religious leaders regarding Islamic Branding and Islamic Branding. existence in Bangkalan city to several religious figures in Bangkalan city. From the results of the study, the researcher stated and concluded that the views of religious leaders in Bangkalan city were divided into three groups. There are those who are aware of and acknowledge the existence of Islamic Branding in Bangkalan city, secondly there are those who are aware of but acknowledge the existence of Islamic Branding in Bangkalan city, third are not aware of and do not acknowledge the existence of Islamic Branding in Bangkalan city.

SEVERAL WESTERN MARXIST IDEAS: ALBERTS BELS’S PROSE AND LITERARY CINEMATOGRAPHIC APPROACH

The Latvian writer Alberts Bels (b. 1938) uses elements of literary cinemato- graphy in his prose. Although the number of these elements is not large, they testify to the fact that there is nothing unintentional in the writer’s prose. One of the ways how to establish the semantic load of elements of literary cinematography is to examine the context in which these elements are used following the views of the 20th century Marxist leaders. Thus, as an aesthetic value, literary cinematography in Alberts Bels’s writings can be seen as a compromise between traditional culture, which according to Walter Benjamin requires an aura and active experience of the reader, and the new art which was created on the basis of traditional art. If literature takes over the patterns of narrative cinema and uses them to create new, yet non-radical forms and structures, literary cinematography can be regarded as a favourable result of what Benjamin calls the loss of aura in a reproduced work of art.

A director like me: Teacher-leader racial/ethnic match and job outcomes in child care centers

The leaders of child care centers shape the everyday experiences of child care teachers, who play a critical role in supporting young children. While research has linked leadership to policy-relevant outcomes such as teacher job satisfaction and turnover, little is known about specific leader characteristics linked to teacher job outcomes. In K-12, one key factor associated with increased job satisfaction and lower turnover is teacher-principal racial/ethnic match, however there is no evidence to date on how teacher-leader racial/ethnic match relates to teacher job outcomes in child care settings. Using data from a sample of 1,011 teachers at child care centers in Virginia, this study documents the prevalence of teacher-leader racial/ethnic match. We estimate associations between racial/ethnic match and teachers’ views of leadership, job satisfaction, turnover intentions, and turnover after six months. Although two-thirds of child care teachers experienced racial/ethnic match with their child care center leader, Black and Hispanic teachers were far less likely to experience racial/ethnic match than White teachers. We did not find significant associations between racial/ethnic match and teacher job outcomes after adjusting for covariates. We discuss potential explanations, directions for future research, and implications for policy.

Israeli Border Police Commanders’ Perspectives on Leading Ad Hoc Teams during Routine and Emergency Operations

This study asks the question, How do police commanders view leadership in ad hoc formations during assigned operations? In the era of a post-heroic society, security organizations have adopted the negation of risk and the avoidance of violence as important principles. These principles are reflected in the perceptions of those leading ad hoc teams. This article presents an analysis of thirteen in-depth interviews with experienced members of the Israel Border Police who are in command of companies up to the level of battalion. The narratives of the commanders reveal a distinction between a “mission” and an operational “event” as they acknowledge the “flammability” of tasks during command operations in both Israel and the West Bank. We conclude that much of the commanders’ confidence during such operations stems from their close knowledge of the operational arena as well as the practical operational experiences they have had. Specifically, the article concludes that commander competence is manifested by the combination of their leadership style and the intimate knowledge they possess about the professional qualities of the participants in the diverse ad hoc teams they command made up of personnel from military, police, and security organizations.

'Moving towards understanding', acceptability of investigations following stillbirth in sub-Saharan Africa: A grounded theory study.

To explore the views of women, partners, families, health workers and community leaders of potential investigations to determine the cause(s) of stillbirth, in Malawi, Tanzania and Zambia. Grounded theory. Tertiary facilities and community settings in Blantyre, Malawi, Mwanza, Tanzania and Mansa, Zambia. Purposive and theoretical sampling was used to recruit 124 participants: 33 women, 18 partners, 19 family members, 29 health workers and 25 community leaders, across three countries. Semi-structured interviews were conducted using a topic guide for focus. Analysis was completed using constant comparative analysis. Sampling ceased at data saturation. Women wanted to know the cause of stillbirth, but this was tempered by their fear of the implications of this knowledge; in particular, the potential for them to be blamed for the death of their baby. There were also concerns about the potential consequences of denying tradition and culture. Non-invasive investigations were most likely to be accepted on the basis of causing less 'harm' to the baby. Parents' decision-making was influenced by type of investigation, family and cultural influences and financial cost. Parents want to understand the cause of death, but face emotional, cultural and economic barriers to this. Offering investigations will require these barriers to be addressed, services to be available and a no-blame culture developed to improve outcomes. Community awareness, education and support for parents in making decisions are vital prior to implementing investigations in these settings.

From COVID-19 to Health System Reform: Qualitative Insights on Resilience and Lessons Learned from Finland

Abstract The pressure of COVID-19 on health system functioning has made policies to strengthen health system resilience a major theme of research. Accordingly, crises like COVID-19 can be seen as windows of opportunity for health system reforms to enhance health system resilience. In Finland, COVID-19 arrived on the eve of a major health system reform. In 2023 running health and social services will be transferred from 309 municipalities to 22 counties. While the reform was framed before the pandemic, we explore how lessons from COVID-19 matter for the future reform. Our results come from interviews of 53 top managers and civil servants in the year one of COVID-19, representing municipalities, municipal healthcare authorities and state agencies. The results offer a lookout to how national and local healthcare leaders view pandemic responses in connection to the future reform. Finland fared well in the pandemic compared to many countries e.g. in terms of excess deaths. However, our results reveal a tension between major issues in managing COVID-19 and implementing the reform. While the data suggest that dealing with a prolonged crisis proved challenging due to lack of trust, communication, and transparency between national and subnational actors in the health system, the dominant lessons learned and needs for reform among the interviewees build upon obvious fixes, such as ensuring supply of PPEs and ICU beds for the next pandemic. While being important in preparedness, these can build a legacy not tackling the root causes of lacking resilience and can be inconsistent with reform goals. The pandemic provides an opportunity to analyse the reformed system from a new viewpoint and may reveal weaknesses not considered in reform planning. Reforms can impact health system resilience in positive and negative ways. While different shocks may open new avenues for system transformation, they can also create path dependencies weakening the systems’ ability to prepare for unknown threats.

A Qualitative Approach to Investigating Developmental Opportunities Among Leaders and Followers

Objective. To understand and identify developmental opportunities by exploring students' evolving views of leadership, including the emergence of leadership and self-identification, among students considered to be leaders and those considered to be followers.Methods. An exploratory qualitative study using semi-structured interviews was conducted, investigating developmental differences among leaders and followers. Fourteen students/residents were selected to participate in interviews. Student responses were analyzed using qualitative thematic analysis.Results. In discissions, four themes surfaced: motivations for exploring and engaging in leadership, perceptions of ideal leaders and followers, the value of coalition building, and a leader's role in sustainability. Leader respondents indicated that a potential barrier to helping others develop was their difficulty in delegation. Further, stress on leaders may contribute to a self-serving perspective on their responsibilities to help others develop.Conclusion. In comparison to their leader counterparts, followers may require a more individualized approach to their development and may become more deeply attached to their responsibilities, giving them a greater desire to promote sustainability in an organization or endeavor. Schools of pharmacy should be poised to support faculty, advisors, mentors, and student leaders with the tools to identify and develop active followers who may not seek out traditional leadership experiences.

Understanding Colonialism and Decolonization in Iran’s Contemporary Socio-Political Discourse

The article analyzes the perception of colonialism and anti-colonial struggle in modern Iran. The Iranian authorities attach particular importance to the anti-colonial struggle and condemnation of the colonial practices of the West, taking into account not only formal colonization, but also the actual subordination of formally independent states to the will of Western powers. In this regard, particular importance is attached to liberate the oppressed of the whole world. The purpose of the study is to examine the history of colonialism in Iran, the views of the spiritual leaders, presidents and senior officials of Iran on issues of colonialism and anti-colonial struggle, to identify historical events and personalities who played a key role in the anti-colonial movement in Iran. For this purpose, the materials of the Iranian agency IRNA and the speeches of Iranian spiritual leaders were analyzed. A statistical analysis of the most common terms on the subject of colonialism was also carried out. As a result, it was found that the Iranian discourse focuses on condemning the crimes of the West, especially the United States and Israel, against Muslims, as well as praising the resistance of the Iranian people to colonialism in the past and present, with an emphasis on the special role of Ayatollah Khomeini in the Iranian anti-colonial movement. Western colonialism in Iran is divided into several aspects: war crimes committed in the countries conquered by the West, preventing the free development of weaker countries, the struggle to change independent and patriotic regimes and impose rulers ineffective and obedient to Western elites on the peoples, and the imposition of destructive manifestations of Western culture. In addition, the Iranian policy in the Middle East is praised as being driven by noble motives and aiming to provide all possible assistance to the peoples of the region to achieve liberation from the colonialists. The case of Syria is cited as an important example of Iran’s anti-colonial struggle in the Middle East, when Iran helped the government of Bashar al-Assad to regain control of the country and to defeat the armed opposition.

The views of school leaders regarding gaining universal values in socio-cultural trips.

In the globalizing world, it is seen that life is more intertwined with different cultures. Therefore, intercultural sensitivity has vital importance for a peaceful harmonious common life. In order to ensure this sensitivity, societies must unite with common accepted values. In this regard, the adoption of universal values expressed by the UNESCO-UNICEF has particular importance. Therefore, schools have important responsibilities. Schools may prefer out-of-class activities in the development of positive sensitivity behaviors. In this study, the sensitivities developed by secondary-school students, who are the target group, toward living universal values after participating in out-of-school socio-cultural short-term trip activities were examined. The research adopts the phenomenological approach, which is one of the qualitative research methods. Interview techniques were used in accordance with this model. In line with the purpose of this research, the school administrators, who have the ability to witness the changes in the behavior of the children during and after the socio-cultural planned trip activities and who can best interpret them by filtering, have been reached. According to this criterion, 51 school administrators were selected. The results of the research revealed that short-term socio-cultural trips abroad have effects on living-universal values. It was observed that the positive behaviors in the school environment continued after the trip. We can say that, the development of sensitivity toward living-universal values also positively affects students’ intercultural sensitivity. As a result, it is recommended that school administrators give importance to such activities.

Satisfied or not satisfied? Electronic health records system implementation in Ghana: Health leaders’ perspective

BackgroundElectronic Health Records (EHR) has been espoused to be an innovation from the paper-based system, with benefits such as fast access to patient information thereby facilitating healthcare provider communication, healthcare continuity and improved quality of care. However, it is the extent of the quality of the electronic health records that determines the access to these stated benefits. The quality of health care records indirectly contributes to patient safety because inaccurate patient data can lead to improper diagnosis and consequently wrong treatment of patients. Most hospitals in Ghana, have recently transitioned into the EHR system, hence, there is a need to assess its accuracy, impact on workflow, staff training on usage, support from the EHR team, and the overall satisfaction of the EHR system. As health leaders are at the frontline of its implementation, their views on the challenges and successes of the EHR system are imperative.MethodThis qualitative study sought to explore the views of the health leaders on the implemented electronic health records system in nine (9) hospitals within three (3) regions in Ghana. Following ethical approval, GHS-ERC:007/04/21, focus group discussions were conducted with a minimum of 10 hospital leaders in each facility. These included quasi, government and private hospitals. Data was collected between September and November 2021.ResultsThe study found poor quality of records, lack of involvement of frontline clinicians in the development of the EHR system, inadequate training of staff and limited workstations as some of the challenges associated with the use of EHR in hospitals. Health leaders were generally not satisfied with the EHR system.ConclusionIt is recommended that addressing inputs from end-users as well as circulating more computers will motivate EHR usage and acceptance. Provision of additional workstations for the various units and involvement of staff in the system development would be most prudent to enable health workers to accept the EHR system in improving the quality of care.

The Reality of Crisis Management in Jordanian Public Universities from the Perspective of Academic Leaders

Objective: This study aims to identify the reality of crisis management in Jordanian public universities during the Covid-19 pandemic from the perspective of academic leaders in those universities.
 Methods: The study population consisted of all academic leaders in Jordanian public universities for the academic year (2021-2020). The study sample consisted of (216) academic leaders.
 Results: The results of the study show that the reality of crisis management in Jordanian public universities from the point of view of academic leaders came to a moderate degree in all areas (pre-crisis management, university readiness to manage crises, and dealing with crises). The results of the study show that there are statistically significant differences between the estimates of individuals due to job title in favor of department chairs.
 Conclusions: The study recommends improving university infrastructure and ensure readiness for crisis management. It also recommends establishing specialized departments concerned with crisis and data management.

Climate adaptation and risk preparedness in Florida’s East Coast cities: views of municipal leaders

Cities along Florida’s Atlantic coastline are particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change, posing significant challenges for city planners. How cities see themselves in terms of developing or implementing their climate change adaptation action plans depends, in part, on the extent to which they perceive climate-related events as risks, and their city size. Data were obtained from city leaders (i.e. mayors, city/town managers, or their designees) from 86 cities along Florida’s Atlantic Coast from January to May 2021 to quantitatively assess factors influencing city adaptation planning. Validity and reliability were obtained for the survey. Multiple regression analyses showed significant positive correlations between perceived risk, city size, and (self-assessed) climate change preparedness. A statistical interaction was noted; as city size increased, risk perception decreased.
