Objectives The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of Standard Precaution Knowledge, Awareness on Performance and to identify predicting factors of performance with standard precautions in genearal hospital radiologist.
Methods Data were collected using questionnaires from 128 radiologists working in three general hospitals in J province. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 23.0 program using descriptive statics and a t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis.
Results The overall standard precaution knowledge, average awareness, and average performance, patient safety culture were 17.61±2.04, 4.68±0.34, and 4.38±0.52, 4.00±0.54 respectively. A positive correlation was observed between the standard precaution performance and standard precaution knowledge (r=.26, p=.004), awareness (r=.62, p<.001) and patient safety culture(r=.37, p<.001). Regression analysis showed a 42.0% variation the radiologist’s standard precaution performance with standard precaution awareness(β=.86, p<.001), pre-hospital training experience(β=-.17, p=.040), patient safety culture(β=.14, p<.001).
Conclusions A follow-up survey of the factors influencing general hospitals radiologist’s standard precaution performance and the development of a program will be required.
