The gamma-gamma directional correlation function for the 560 keV–160 keV cascade in Sn 117 has been measured. The experimental expansion coefficients were found to be A 2=−0.043±0.006 and A 4=0. A unique spin assignment of 7 2 , 3 2 , 1 2 has been made for the 720 keV, 160 keV levels and ground state, respectively. The 560 keV transition is pure E2 while the 160 keV transition is M1+E2 with an E2 content of 1.2±0.5%. The experimental data are compared with theoretical predictions.
