A Bibliometric Overview and Visualization of the International Journal of Information Technology and Decision Making Between 2012 and 2022

The International Journal of Information Technology and Decision Making (IJITDM) was launched in 2002 to study how the information technology and decision-making technique affect each other. To summarize the progress of the journal in the latest 11 years, a bibliometric overview of the IJITDM publications from 2012 to 2022 is provided to identify the conceptual evolution and development situation of the journal during this time slot. To do this, first, the publication and citation structures of the publications in this journal is presented. Then, the scientific network map analysis, including keywords analysis, co-authorship analysis and co-citation analysis, is performed in details. Furthermore, the development trends of information technologies and decision-making methods are discussed to dig out factors that influence the evolution of topics in IJITDM publications. Finally, conclusions of this study are offered. It is found that the IJITDM grew significantly from 2012 to 2022. The work presented in this paper will help scholars to obtain systematic knowledge and structured understanding of the research hotspots and development trends of the journal.

 The year 2022 promises many exciting developments for the Global Journal of Information Technology: Emerging Technologies (GJIT). In addition, every year, the number of citations continues to rise strongly in proportion to the increase in the number of articles published. In this respect, first of all, we would like to thank all our authors who have contributed to the success of our journal. While reviewing our new issue, we saw articles from different authors from different countries: Cyprus, Jordan, Iran etc.
 The multiculturalism policy followed in our globally-focused journal makes us happy with every new issue. We examine the following research areas in the current issue; The topics of “Creating a Mobile Application for Online Shopping that has all the Features Required for the Process”, “Requirements For The Use Of E-Learning In University Education (Theoretical Study)”, “Attitudes Of Physical Education Teachers InJordan Towards The Use Of The Internet In The Educational Process”, “An Inquest into the Degree of M.A. Translation Students’ Familiarity with Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) Tools”. EDITORIAL: Information technologies for smart city development (CIB World Building Congress 2019 special issue)

On 17-21 June 2019, the Conseil International du Bâtiment (CIB) World Building Congress 2019 (WBC 2019) on Constructing Smart Cities took place in The Hong Kong Polytechnic University with the host being the Department of Building and Real Estate. This triennial international congress facilitated the in-depth exchange of research ideas on the aspects of smart construction using information technologies, including “smart transportation and mobility”, and “smart planning, design, construction”. Besides, the CIB Working Commission Group WC78 emphasised the importance of using the up-to-date information technologies for smart city development. The fruitful discussions fostered the close collaboration between academia and practitioners. Built upon the research works presented in the CIB WBC 2019, outstanding conference papers were selected and invited for enriching the contents which were accepted for publication after rigorous peer review in this special issue of “Journal of Information Technology in Construction” which aims to promote the research interest of the information technologies in smart city development. Highlights of each paper is provided below for readers’ reference.

Media and Information Literacy

Paul G. Zurkowski was the first to introduce the term information literacy in 1974 to describe the techniques and skills necessary for utilizing “a wide range of information tools and primary sources”. It also included the ability to measure information value to “mold information to [meet] needs” and to create solutions to problems.1-2 Since then, media literacy and information literacy has gained a base in advanced countries. But UNESCO is now promoting the composite concept of media and information literacy (MIL). To promote MIL and MIL research, it has founded the MIL Alliance and the Media and Information Literacy and Intercultural Dialogue (MILID UniTwin) to enable people to use information critically, ethically and legally in quality decision-making. Other useful initiatives of UNESCO include “MIL MOOC; Media and Information Literacy: Critical-thinking, Creativity, Literacy, Intercultural, Citizenship, Knowledge and Sustainability (MIL CLICKS); MIL Policy and Strategy Guidelines; MIL Curriculum for Teachers; MIL Indicators; MIL Framework; and MIL Week Feature Conference and Youth Agenda Forum. The International Federation of Library Association and Institutions (IFLA) has its programme entitled 'Freedom of Access to Information and Freedom of Expression (FAIFE)' and developed the MIL Guidelines. IFLA/FAIFE' programme is committed to ensure freedom of access to information and freedom of expression to empower people to realize their “right to be.”3 There are many models and standards to promote information literacy and MIL but MIL is not yet effectively imbedded in the developing countries. Hence, to sensitize the stakeholders about the concept and practice of MIL in India, this theme issue of the DESIDOC Journal of Information Technology (DJLIT) has been planned.

Open access to Construction IT research articles – developments over the past 25 years

The Journal of Information Technology in Construction (ITcon), was founded in 1996, using the new innovative open access business model enabled by the World wide web. A quarter century later Open Access (OA) journals have established themselves in all fields of science, in particular in biomedicine, so that around a fifth of all high quality peer reviewed articles are currently published in OA journals. In building and construction there are half a dozen active full OA journals, although ITcon remains the only one dedicated specifically to construction IT research. The development of OA has been slower than anticipated in the early years. An analysis using Michael Porter’s five forces model of the competitive environment of scholarly publishing helps to highlight the reasons for this. Particularly important as a barrier to change is the strong emphasis in academic evaluations on impact factors, which favors old established journals. Despite such hurdles OA continuously grows in importance and pioneering journals like ITcon have helped to pave the way.

THE ROLE OF SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING IN PROMOTING SMALL AND MEDIUM BUSINESS

Purpose. The purpose of the article is to study social media marketing as a tool promotion of products of small and medium enterprises, studying the essence of the concept of “social media marketing”, using marketing in social networks as part of the marketing strategy of small and medium-sized businesses. Methodology of research. Article based on the analysis of scientific achievements and research of theorists and practitioners of Internet marketing. The objectives of the article implemented by using the general and specific research methods: analysis and synthesis, systematization and generalization, dialectical approach. Findings. The article analyzes and summarizes the experience Internet marketing in small and medium enterprises. The terminology, methods and means of Internet marketing are defined. A study of modern tools of Internet marketing in the development of e-commerce on enterprises. The use of Internet marketing in small and medium enterprises in the world is considered. Practical value. Based on the research, conclusions and recommendations for the use of marketing tools in social networks have been developed, which will have a significant impact on the development and promotion of small and medium-sized businesses. Performance of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Based Advanced Encryption Standard

Currently, there are a lot of secure communication schemes have been proposed to hide secret contents. In this work, one of the methods deploying encryption to cipher data is represented. The primary object of this project is applying Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) in communications based Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). This article discusses the security of the method encrypting directly QAM symbols instead of input bit-stream. This leads to improving the security of transmitting data by utilization of authentication key between the mobile and base station. The archived results demonstrate that the performance of the AES-OFDM system is completely acceptable to compare with the criteria for 4G.

Politics as usual? Assessing the extent and content of candidate-level online campaigning at the 2015 UK general election

ABSTRACTThere has been much work done investigating the adoption of online campaigns in UK general election campaigns. Although some research has focussed on the candidate-level (Gibson, R., W. Lusoli, and S. Ward. 2008. “Nationalizing and Normalizing the Local? A Comparative Analysis of Online Candidate Campaigning in Australia and Britain.” Journal of Information Technology and Politics 4: 15–30; Lee, B. 2014. “Window Dressing 2.0: Constituency-level Web Campaigns in the 2010 UK General Election.” Politics 34 (1): 45–57; Southern, R. 2015. “Is Web 2.0 Providing a Voice for Outsiders? A Comparison of Personal Web Site and Social Media Use by Candidates at the 2010 UK General Election.” Journal of Information Technology & Politics 12 (1): 1–17), this is an under-researched area. This is despite early web-campaign scholars (Margolis, M., and D. Resnick. 2000. Politics as Usual: The Cyberspace Revolution. Sage) maintaining that e-campaigning could provide the most important advantages to campaigns at the candidate level. In light of this, the paper aims to provide the most comprehensive study of candidate-level online campaigning carried out in the UK to date. This paper employs original data, measuring website and social media use by candidates during the 2015 UK general election campaign. These data allow for a detailed explanation of the normalization thesis, one of the leading theories in the field of e-campaigns. The findings here are significant as there are several instances where normalization does not hold, suggesting that online tools are contributing to campaign change. Green Party candidates subverted normalization to a significant degree, particularly on social media. Assessing the campaign content, a quarter of candidates adopted more than one interactive feature on their website and furthermore, interactive use of Twitter was the most common type of Twitter use.

Designing Information Product (IP) Maps On the Process of Data Processing and Academic Information

Information Product Approach (IP Approach) is an information management approach. It can be used to manage product information and data quality analysis. IP-Map can be used by organizations to facilitate the management of knowledge in collecting, storing, maintaining, and using the data in an organized. The process of data management of academic activities in X University has not yet used the IP approach. X University has not given attention to the management of information quality of its. During this time X University just concern to system applications used to support the automation of data management in the process of academic activities. IP-Map that made in this paper can be used as a basis for analyzing the quality of data and information. By the IP-MAP, X University is expected to know which parts of the process that need improvement in the quality of data and information management.
