[The males of two unknown species of pennellid copepods and the chalimus 2 female of one of these are described based on specimens parasitic on the gills of the Japanese fishes, Brotula multibarbata Temminck & Schlegel, 1846 and Pseudolabrus sieboldi Mabuchi & Nakabo, 1997. The males have well-developed maxillipeds and three functional pairs of swimming legs. Although pennellids with three pairs of legs are restricted to a few genera only, these males can not even be referred to a genus at present. Post-mating pennellid males presumably survive for a while on the intermediate host after the mated females have already left for their definitive host. The males of two unknown species of pennellid copepods and the chalimus 2 female of one of these are described based on specimens parasitic on the gills of the Japanese fishes, Brotula multibarbata Temminck & Schlegel, 1846 and Pseudolabrus sieboldi Mabuchi & Nakabo, 1997.
