This scientific article addresses the Inheritance of Digital Assets and the role of Succession Law in Brazil, with information regarding current legislation and examples of concrete cases. It presents examples of digital goods such as cryptoassets, items in virtual games, items stored on the Blockchain, among others. In this way, without intending to exhaust the topic, the authors bring up the importance of Succession Law linked to the lack of specific legislation on the topic, leaving it at the mercy of the judiciary to resolve broad issues or even the need for the owner of the assets to make a will directing instructions to heirs on how to access a certain asset, given the variety of items and their diverse economic value, which in some cases can even be compared to the values ​​of real estate in Brazil.

“Shared Online, Made People Envious, Felt Good”

An online survey of 200 participants was conducted on the experiences of sharing material and immaterial artifacts, focusing on interaction with non-media content types. The survey included six categories of sharing: music preferences, travel plans, sports activities, apartments and vehicles, virtual items in online games, and dietary preferences. The study identified factors that motivate participation in content-mediated interaction: discovery, curating self, connectedness, collaboration, enjoyment, and instrumental motivations, as a set of six motivating factors driving contemporary sharing practices. The authors consolidated findings from earlier work on motivations to share personal content, validating the set of motivating factors with the six selected non-media types of content. The results suggest that both extrinsic and intrinsic motivations affect content sharing practices. Furthermore, motivating factors were mapped to the reported positive and negative experiences, in order to understand their relation and to discuss their capacity to guide user experience design.

The effect of short game videos on consumers' willingness to purchase virtual items in games: A moderating effect based on game experience

With the popularity and development of new media, the short video industry has deeply influenced people's daily shopping behavior and entertainment activities. Similarly, with the development of Internet technology, the game industry is attracting more and more attention from game players and consumers. This study explores the impact of short game videos on gamers' willingness to purchase in-game virtual goods according to the SOR theoretical model and the moderating effect of external stimuli such as consumers' differences in game experience and perceived value on their willingness to buy game virtual products. Through a series of literature research and relevant data analysis and processing, this study confirms that some features of short game videos will not have a significant impact on consumers' purchase behavior, but most features will lead consumers to consume games. Features such as Validity and Serviceability, Interactivity, and Sociability are positively correlated with consumers' willingness on consumption, but Influenceability is not significantly correlated with consumers' willingness to buy. In addition, the game experience of consumers has a significant moderating effect, and the perceived value difference also has an important impact on their purchase behavior. The findings from this study can help the new media industry and the gaming industry to grasp the needs of young consumers, represented by university students, and to adjust their marketing strategies more effectively.

ACTIVITY OF CHILDREN'S MOVEMENT PATTERNS IN TRADITIONAL GAMES USING THE TEAM GAMES TOURNAMENT METHOD

Movement patterns are simple complex forms of movement including locomotor, non-locomotor and manipulation movements, TGT (Team Games Tournament) type cooperative learning models are student team learning methods based on the principle that students must learn together and be responsible for their own learning and their groupmates. This study aims to determine the activeness of children's movement patterns in traditional games with the TGT method. This type of research uses descriptive quantitative with survey method, the sample is grade VI students of GMIT Bolok Elementary School totaling 24 students consisting of 8 male students and 16 female students. Data collection using observation sheets on locomotor, non-locomotor and manipulation movement pattern items in traditional games with the TGT method. Data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive with percentages. The results of the study were locomotor motion patterns obtained by 83.33% (20 people) with Good criteria and 16.67% (4 people) with Sufficient criteria, the results of nonlocomotor motion patterns obtained Good and Sufficient criteria with 50% each (12 people) while in manipulation motion patterns obtained 70.83% (17 people) with Good criteria and 29.17% (7 people) with Sufficient criteria. The conclusion is that the activeness of children's movement patterns in traditional games with the TGT method is categorized as Good, namely 16 out of 24 people with a percentage of 66.67%.

The localization of food- and drink-related items in video games

Abstract This study examines the localization of food- and drink-related items in The Witcher 3 (2015). It analyzes the original English and Arabic versions using the corpus approach. A list of food- and drink-related lexemes was extracted from the English original game and these lexemes were traced to their context in the English and Arabic versions using the concordance function in Sketch Engine. The concordance analysis focused on the translation strategies adopted to localize food- and drink-related lexemes into Arabic and on the success of the translation in the socio-cultural and religious contexts of the target culture. The data reveals that foreign food-related terms are mostly domesticated, whereas drink-related terms are foreignized. The findings of this study suggest that foreignization strategies can be used for localization purposes to create a target video game that minimizes the cultural gaps between the source and target cultures and provides a less disruptive gaming experience.

These variables will influence the purchase intention of players. This study aimed to explore the influence of flow experience, satisfaction, and enjoyment on purchase intention through the mediation of continuous usage intention. This study is quantitative in nature. The sample for this study consisted of 485 digital gaming participants. The purposive sampling was implemented by distributing online questionnaires that were subsequently analysed with Smart PLS. The findings of this study indicate that the sense of flow, satisfaction, and enjoyment can influence the continuous usage intention. Consequently, flow experience, continuous usage intention, and satisfaction can influence purchase intention. Additionally, enjoyment does not affect purchase intention. Then, flow experience can influence purchase intention directly or through continuous usage intention.

The Impact of Gaming Addiction and Gamer Loyalty on Generation Z's Impulse Buying of Virtual Items in Online Games

Research on Generation Z's online gaming habits, particularly in Indonesia, is intriguing. It is due to changes in consumer behavior influenced by technological advancements, which impact Generation Z, who are becoming increasingly active in online games, which can even affect purchasing power. In a broader sense, a demographic bonus controls the growth of the Indonesian population, particularly Generation Z. This study aimed to investigate the direct and indirect impacts of gaming addiction and gamer loyalty on impulse buying. The research data was collected from 250 individuals from Generation Z in Indonesia who were chosen using a purposive sampling technique. In addition, the data were analyzed with SEM AMOS 26 software. The primary finding of this study was that Generation Z's gaming addiction could increase gamer loyalty and impulse buying of virtual items in online games.

Why Do People Buy Virtual Items? An Assessment Using the Theory of Functional Value

Most of the revenue for online game producers comes from selling virtual goods. This study aimed to investigate the intention to purchase virtual items in online games. In these games, players can buy virtual items that can be used to improve their character’s abilities. The researchers used the theory of functional value to test the intention to purchase virtual items and what factors influence this purchase intention. 100 students participated, and data was analyzed through multiple linear regression. Our results indicated that price utility influences the purchase intention of virtual items. We found that character competence and functional quality did not affect purchase intention, which was thought to be related to the social aspects of virtual communities.

Drafting video game loot box regulation for dummies: a Chinese lesson

ABSTRACT Loot boxes are virtual items in video games that players purchase to obtain randomised rewards of varying value. Such randomised monetisation methods are prevalently implemented globally. Loot boxes are conceptually and structurally akin to gambling, and their purchase is positively correlated with problem gambling in Western countries. Given the potential harms loot boxes may cause, particularly to vulnerable consumers, e.g. children, regulators and policymakers are paying increasing attention. Some countries, e.g. Belgium, have actively enforced existing gambling laws to ban certain loot box implementations. However, less restrictive regulatory approaches, e.g. requiring probability disclosures, are also being considered. Amendments to existing law and new laws dedicated to regulating loot boxes are likely forthcoming in many countries. Companies’ discretionary and suboptimal compliance with loot box probability disclosure law in the People’s Republic of China reveals how future loot box laws and industry self-regulations should be better drafted to ensure maximum consumer protection.

Loot boxes and problem gambling: Investigating the “gateway hypothesis”

Loot boxes are purchasable items in video games with a chance-based outcome. They have attracted substantial attention from academics and legislators over recent years, partly because of associations between loot box engagement and problem gambling. Some researchers have suggested that loot boxes may act as a gateway into subsequent gambling and/or problem gambling. However, such “gateway effects” have not been formally investigated. Using a survey of 1102 individuals who both purchase loot boxes and gamble, we found that 19.87% of the sample self-reported either “gateway effects” (loot boxes causally influencing subsequent gambling) or “reverse gateway effects” (gambling causally influencing subsequent loot box engagement). Both subsets of participants had higher scores for problem gambling, problem video gaming, gambling-related cognitions, risky loot boxes engagement, and impulsivity. These individuals also had a tendency for higher loot box and gambling spend; suggesting that potential gateway effects are related to measurable risks and harms. Moreover, the majority of participants reporting gateway effects were under 18 when they first purchased loot boxes. Content analysis of free text responses revealed several reasons for self-reported gateway effects, the most frequent of which were sensation-seeking, normalisation of gambling-like behaviours, and the addictive nature of both activities. Whilst the cross-sectional nature of our findings cannot conclusively establish directions of causality, thus highlighting the need for longitudinal research, we conclude that there is a case for legislation on loot boxes for harm minimisation purposes.

НЕКОТОРЫЕ ПРОБЛЕМЫ ОПРЕДЕЛЕНИЯ ГРАЖДАНСКО-ПРАВОВОГО СТАТУСА ВИРТУАЛЬНОГО МИРА И ЕГО ОБЪЕКТОВ

The article analyzes the problems of determining the legal status of the virtual world and objects in it, examines the theory of virtual property and gives the relationship between property and intellectual property rights to regulate relations arising in the virtual world. The author, on the basis of the analysis carried out, puts forward a proposal on the need to regulate relations in the field of creating computer codes to gain access to the virtual world using intellectual property norms, since the creative work of a person is involved, and to use the norms of property rights in relations of ownership of objects of the virtual world - domain names, URLs (uniform resource locators), websites, email accounts, crypto assets, items (artifacts and enhancements) in online multiplayer games. The author is developing a proposal on the need to supplement the current Civil Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan with a category of virtual property, which certifies the owner’s right in relation to the objects of the virtual world. The author studies the theoretical statements of legal scholars regarding the status of virtual property, and comes to the conclusion that relations in the virtual space should be regulated by the norms of intellectual property and property law, while both institutions should not compete and mutually exclude each other, but, on the contrary, regulate in virtual space relationships based on their essence.

The popularity of free-to-play games also supports the increase in mobile gaming revenue. The Mobile Legends and AoV, games with Multiplayer Online Battle Arena type, are popular today, where they can be played on any smart phone anywhere and anytime. One of the main commodities in this game is the premium items. to get the virtual goods players have to exchange some money that can be purchased through google play store or electronics stores. The purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of enjoyment value, character competency value, visual authority value, monetary value, character identification, and the satisfaction of the game against the intention of repurchase. This research uses survey method to collect data. The Sampling method is non- probabilities with purposive sampling approach. The number of samples in this study is 130 respondents, with the criteria playing a Mobile Legends or AoV and make purchases of premium items on the games. Hypothesis testing was analyzed using multiple linier regression. The result of hypothesis testing shows that the six independent variables, namely the value of pleasure, the value of character competence, the value of visual authority, the value of money, the character identification, and the satisfaction of the game have a positive effect on the intention of repurchasing premium items.

The growth of games as a fast growing industry in Indonesia has made online gaming business lines increasingly developed, so that a business market for buying and selling virtual goods (virtual items in games) is formed in several virtual goods marketplaces such as itemku.com. The formation of the business market on the virtual goods marketplace has created various perceptions to support their gaming activities. This study uses qualitative methods, observation techniques, in-depth interviews and documentation. The theory used is perception. This study will discuss how variables such as sensation, anticipation and interpretation are formed from gamers about how microtransactions are carried out and also associated with CMC (Computer Mediated Communcations) to find out how communication patterns occur in these mictrotransactions. As a result, the majority of gamers have the same perception of microtransactions. Gamers who make virtual goods transactions aim to get satisfaction as well as actualization, virtual items that have more value in the game also trigger to perform microtransactions as part of the pride, and factor of self-existence when doing gaming activities using CMC.

Which Implementations of Loot Boxes Constitute Gambling? A UK Legal Perspective on the Potential Harms of Random Reward Mechanisms

Loot boxes are virtual items in video games that offer the player randomised in-game rewards of uncertain in-game and real-world value. Paid loot boxes represent a lucrative and prevalent contemporary monetisation method that encourages repeat purchase through randomisation. The psychology literature has consistently reported a relationship between loot boxes and problem gambling. However, various implementations of loot boxes have not been sufficiently differentiated and separately examined. The literature and gambling regulators have generally argued that only loot boxes that cost real-world money to buy, and offer rewards that can be transferred to other players and are consequently worth real-world money, constitute ‘gambling.’ This paper identifies the potential harms of two other types of loot box: one does not cost real-world money to buy and the other does not offer rewards that are worth real-world money and argues that both may constitute ‘gambling’ under UK law. This paper hypothesises that even loot boxes that neither cost real-world money to buy nor offer rewards that are worth real-world money may be potentially harmful as they may normalise gambling behaviours. This paper highlights that, when the game’s design and economy are exploited by players, a particular implementation of loot boxes may involve real-world money, potentially contrary to the game company’s intentions, and thereby effectively constitute ‘gambling.’ This paper recommends that future empirical research separately examine the potential harms of each type of loot box.

Loot Boxes and Gambling: Similarities and Dissimilarities in Risk and Protective Factors.

Politicians, health officials, and scholars have argued that loot boxes (virtual items that can be redeemed to receive randomly selected other virtual items) in video games function as a type of gambling, and research has shown that loot box purchasing is correlated with gambling behaviors. Whether loot box purchasing shares other characteristics with gambling such as risk and protective factors, however, has not been explored empirically. This study uses data from large, random samples of American youth to regress both gambling and loot box purchasing (as well as purchasing other downloadable content) on previously established risk and protective factors of gambling. Results suggest that, aside from gender differences, loot boxes share little in common with traditional forms of gambling. The data also indicate that youth gamers are less likely to have purchased loot boxes in comparison to previously estimated adult gamer prevalence rates.

The prevalence of loot boxes in mobile and desktop games.

Loot boxes are items in video games that may be bought for real-world money but provide randomized rewards. Formal similarities between loot boxes and gambling have led to concerns that they may provide a 'gateway' to gambling amongst children. However, the availability of loot boxes is unclear. This study aimed to determine what proportion of top-grossing video games contained loot boxes, and how many of those games were available to children. Survey of the 100 top-grossing games on both the Google Play store and the Apple App store, and the top 50 most-played games on Steam according to the data aggregator SteamSpy. The prevalence of loot boxes was measured for each platform outlined above, split by age rating. A total of 58.0% of the top games on the Google Play store contained loot boxes, 59.0% of the top iPhone games contained loot boxes and 36.0% of the top games on the Steam store contained loot boxes; 93.1% of the Android games that featured loot boxes and 94.9% of the iPhone games that featured loot boxes were deemed suitable for children aged 12+. Age ratings were more conservative for desktop games. Only 38.8% of desktop games that featured loot boxes were available to children aged 12+. Loot boxes appear to be prevalent in video games that are deemed suitable for children, especially on mobile platforms.
