Exploring management strategies for Private Islamic Schools in the deep south of Thailand using the PMDG guidelines: An application of Fuzzy Delphi method

Developing educational institution strategies empowers them to capitalize on strengths and opportunities, addressing gaps for advancement. Private Islamic schools in southern Thailand, nearly 500 in number, can enhance their performance by adopting management strategies inspired by the successful Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor (PMDG) boarding school model. This study aims to develop such strategies and activities for these schools, guided by PMDG principles and selected through the Fuzzy Delphi method. The study employed mixed methods research with an exploratory sequential design. It began by formulating strategies based on PMDG guidelines, followed by expert-led discussions involving 10 individuals. Activities were then developed for each strategy, deliberated upon in a workshop with 89 participants. Strategies and activities were presented to expert groups and PMDG faculty, comprising 21 individuals. Finally, the Fuzzy Delphi method was used to select the top three activities for each strategy, with input from 18 experts. The research produced 12 strategies and 79 activities, with 36 emerging as top choices. These strategies and activities aim to empower private schools to provide Islamic education, not only in Thailand but also internationally. Their adaptability ensures they align with the unique context of each school and its surroundings.

Islamic Religious Education Learning Experiences and Muslim Students’ Beliefs and Practices in Eastern Ugandan Secondary Schools

This study sought to determine the influence of IRE learning experiences on Muslim students’ beliefs and practices. The population consisted of Senior Four and Six students from Eastern Uganda from which a sample of 890 was selected using multi-stage sampling. A questionnaire was used to collect data, which was analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation and ANOVA. The relationship between students’ learning experiences and their beliefs was found not to be statistically significant, while that between learning experiences and their practices was statistically significant and moderate. A statistically significant difference in students’ practices among school types was also found, where students from Government Non-Muslim schools had the lowest while those from Private Islamic schools had the highest. It was concluded that different types of schools offer different IRE learning experiences which influence ways in which Islam is practiced by students, although these experiences were not that influential on students’ beliefs. It therefore is recommended that Islamic extra-curricular activities be organized for students to boost their knowledge and skills.

PERANCANGAN ULANG IDENTITAS VISUAL DI SEKOLAH ISLAM TERPADU LUQMANUL HAKIM KOTA BANDUNG

One of the first private Islamic schools in Arcamanik sub-district was the Luqmanul Hakim Integrated Islamic School (SIT). This school, established in 1996, has been the choice of parents for almost thirty years. Even the people around this school don't know much information. As many as 60.5% of residents in Arcamanik District, Bandung City, do not know the current logo and location of the school. Competitor Schools that have better visual identities have different situations. The ultimate goal of this design is to explain the visualization results of the redesign of the school's visual identity. This compounding collects qualitative data through interviews, questionnaires and literature studies. To support the findings, questionnaires and observations in the field were used to support the data. However, for data analysis, STP (Segmentation, Targeting, Positioning) strategies and other strategies are used. From the results of this design, it shows that 57.1% of the academic community at SIT Luqmanul Hakim are satisfied with the results. But a new visual identity approach still has to be made. A Multi-Factoral Approach to Enhancing Millennial Teachers' Personal Knowledge Management

Prior research has emphasized a need for scholarly works investigating millennial instructors' knowledge management (PKM) practices at the individual level within an institution. In addition, there needs to be more research examining the role of organizational learning as a mediator between transformational leadership and personal knowledge management among millennial instructors. This study examines how transformational leadership, ICT literacy, and organizational learning affect personal knowledge management (PKM) among Indonesian school instructors in their 20s and 30s. Another goal is to investigate the function of organizational learning as a mediating factor. We administered questionnaires to 100 teachers at some private Islamic schools in Bengkulu, Indonesia, and evaluated them subsequently using partial least squares structural equation modeling. The results suggest that proficiency in information and communication technology (ICT), the ability to inspire and guide others through transformational leadership, and the presence of a culture that promotes continuous learning within the business all contribute positively to the practice of personal knowledge management (PKM) among instructors from the millennial generation. The study determined that ICT literacy had the most substantial impact on teachers' PKM. Furthermore, organizational learning mediates between transformational leadership and PKM, resulting in a slight rise. These findings have practical consequences for school administrators who aim to increase millennial teachers' information and communication technology (ICT) skills in the region. One way to achieve this is by creating an ICT literacy ecosystem within schools, which will help strengthen the personal knowledge management of these instructors.

Human Resource Development In The Pandemic Era: A Multy-Case Study at Islamic Private Elementary Schools in Central Java, Indonesia

The pandemic period that shook organizational stability was also able to inspire managers to develop human resource competencies. This article aims to analyse how private school managers at Central Java, Indonesia take advantage during the pandemic to develop human resource competencies. The approach used is qualitative phenomenology. Data were collected through observation, interviews with informants and also from references. The results indicate that school principals of the Islamic Private Schools can take advantage of the pandemic period to provide education and training, especially in ICT and redesigning teaching preparations. Besides that, it can also change the mindset of employees to adapt alterations and have high motivation at work, but still adhere to health protocols. This may be difficult when the training is carried out under normal conditions. The valuable lesson from this study is how school principals can perform human resource development in a fully-risked condition of pandemic.

Exploring the relationship between teacher job satisfaction and professional development in urban schools during a pandemic

<span lang="EN-US">Job satisfaction and professional development are the talks of teachers in facing the challenges of 21st-century learning, where they must be able to adapt to the progress and development of information and communication in technology. Therefore, this article aims to analyze teacher job satisfaction, professional development, and the interaction between the two during the pandemic. A total of 232 public and private school teachers in urban areas were used as research samples. The sampling technique used a random technique. The research used an instrument developed and validated, then distributed through the principal and school supervisor, and the data were analyzed using the correlation technique. During the pandemic, the results revealed a high level of job satisfaction for state Islamic school teachers and a low level of job satisfaction for private Islamic school teachers, as well as a high level of professional development in both public and private Islamic schools and a moderate positive correlation between teacher job satisfaction and professional development in urban schools. Therefore, teachers should develop and carry out professional development in facing the challenges of 21st-century learning.</span>

ISLAMIC PRIVATE HIGH SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY FOR INCREASING GLOBAL COMPETENCE

The existence of Islamic private high schools (SMA) founded on foundations is constantly threatened by both public schools and the advancement of globalization currents. With such a big problem, private educational institutions must try to discover ways to survive and adapt accordingly in order to continue to exist. The method for reacting to these issues for private schools is unique, and it should be explored thoroughly so that it can serve as a model for other educational institutions. The study used qualitative methods and focused on five foundation-based Islamic private high schools in Demak, Central Java. Data is collected by observation, interviews, and documentation studies. Data analysis using interactive models, including data reduction, data submission, and conclusions. According to the study's findings, (1) foundation-based Islamic private schools (SMA) employ a variety of strategies, including traditional strategies, modern strategies, and comprehensive student networks, such as free transportation and recruitment of outstanding students (academic, non-academic, and cultural arts achievements). (2) Demak private schools use marketing mix methods such as superior pricing, diverse products, market focus, long-term promotional activities, and online school programs.

Strengthening the Profile of Pancasila Students Based on Local Wisdom Through the Making of Jumputan Batik Fabric in Elementary School

The independent curriculum was launched in the form of a learning design that provides opportunities for teachers to explore local wisdom content that is integrated into learning. The Pancasila student profile, with six dimensions, serves as a valuable resource for both educators and students in undertaking initiatives related to the creation of jumputan batik cloth. The objective of this research is to examine the extent to which the initiative enhances the profile of Pancasila students by using local wisdom in the production of jumputan batik fabric. The present study employed a descriptive qualitative methodology utilising a case study technique. Data collection techniques using interviews, observation and documentation. Informants for interviews in this study were the principal and 2 class teachers, and research locations at a private Islamic School in Surakarta. Data were analyzed by data reduction process, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that a project to strengthen the profile of Pancasila students based on local wisdom entitled making jumputan batik cloth can lead to: (1) dimensions of Faith, Fear of God Almighty, and noble characterreflected in the activity pray before the implementation of the project. (2) The Global Diversity Dimension which is reflected in the activities of each group Provide input and opinion on the results of the project, (3) cooperative dimensionreflected in joint activities in one project group, (4) creative dimension reflected in the creative activities of creating and producing original project works.

ISLAMIC SCHOOL IMAGE AND SERVICE QUALITY ON ISLAMIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS: THE ROLE OF WORD OF MOUTH AS MEDIATION

In the current era, schools founded by private parties are increasing. Of course, it increases the competition between these private and public schools. Schools with international concepts, for example, have also become many choices for prospective students. Besides that, religion-based schools such as Christian, Buddhist, or Islamic schools are also an option now. For this reason, this study aimed to analyze the role of school Islamic image, service quality, and word of mouth on parents' decisions to choose private Islamic schools in Pekanbaru. This type of research is quantitative research. This study used 200 parents of grade 1 students at a private Islamic elementary school in Pekanbaru as samples, and the sampling technique used was simple random sampling. A structural equation model (SEM) with PLS is the data analysis technique. The results of this study indicate that Islamic school image has no significant influence on word of mouth, Islamic school image has no significant influence on parents' interest, Service quality has an impact on word of mouth, Service quality has an influence on parents' interest, Word of mouth can't mediate the relationship of Islamic school image on parent's interest, and Word of mouth can mediate the relationship service quality on parent's interest. Therefore, the Islamic idea does not motivate parents to choose their children's schools. Still, the service quality is the key to increasing their competitiveness against other private schools.

I Can Expand My Imagination: The Secondary Students’ Narrative in Creative Writing English Through Padlet

Abstract. This study investigates the impact of Padlet, an online collaborative platform, on the creative writing and imagination of students in an Islamic private school in Pasuruan, comprising 10th and 11th grade students. This study is a qualitative approach, specifically employing narrative inquiry. Data collection methods include observations and semi-structured interviews with the students. Furthermore, data analysis involves identifying key themes and patterns from the interview data, allowing for insight into the influence of Padlet on students’ creativity and imagination. The findings of this study elucidate the potential originality inherent in utilizing Padlet as a medium for amplifying students’ imaginative faculties within the context of writing instruction. Although encountered with some obstacles, most students exhibited adeptness in surmounting these challenges. consequently, this research substantiates our comprehension of how digital tools such as Padlet can be effectively employed within educational settings to nurture creativity and cultivate superior writing proficiencies. Moreover, this investigation addresses a significant research gap concerning Padlet’s influence on imagination within writing courses. The derived insights furnish valuable guidance for teachers and educational institutions seeking to integrate analogues platforms in order to foster imaginative cogitation and self-expression, thereby fostering an enriched academic milieu. The effect of GeoGebra-assisted interactive learning on student mathematical achievement of coordinate system

This present study aims to examine the effect of GeoGebra-assisted interactive learning on student mathematical achievement of coordinate system. The study applied a quasi-experimental method that included 41 fifth grade students from a private Islamic school in Pekanbaru, Riau. The students were randomized into an experimental group (n=21) that received GeoGebra-assisted interactive learning and a control group (n=20) that received traditional teaching approach. Student mathematical achievement was measured using items of coordinate system developed by the researchers, and the data gathering in this study was analyzed using nonparametric statistical analysis. The findings indicated that there was significant statistical difference in student mathematical achievement of coordinate system between the experimental and control group (Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000 < 0.05)). The study concluded that the instruction based on GeoGebra-assisted interactive learning had a statistically significant positive effect on improving student mathematical achievement of coordinate system.

Exploring Teachers’ Instructional Strategies to Facilitate the Oral Fluency of EFL Beginner Level Students

Speaking is a crucial skill in everyday life, encompassing various sub-skills such as oral fluency. However, teaching speaking effectively is a challenging endeavor, as developing good oral fluency requires time and effort. To enhance students' oral fluency, English teachers employ various instructional strategies. To investigate these strategies, the researcher conducted a descriptive study utilizing interviews and observations. The study focused on two English teachers instructing speaking classes at an Islamic private school in Sidoarjo, which offers an International Class program called M-ICO (Muhammadiyah International Class Orientation). The findings revealed that teachers employed student-led activities such as presentations, discussions, and game-based learning to facilitate students' oral fluency; choosing learning materials that can boost students’ oral fluency; using questioning frequently. Additionally, the study identified several speaking difficulties faced by students, such as classroom management issues, linguistic challenges, inhibition, and reliance on their mother tongue. To address these issues, teachers employed strategies such as providing challenges or games, encouraging the use of dictionaries for pronunciation learning, normalizing mistakes, and motivating students during the learning process. In conclusion, teachers adapt their instructional strategies and address concerns based on the unique conditions of their classes. These findings have implications for educators to improve students' oral fluency through strategic approaches. Furthermore, future research should explore the relationship between Islamic values or materials and oral fluency in the context of Islamic school environments.

Students’ Understanding of Nature of Science in Islamic Private School

The objective of this study is to explore Muslim students’ level of understanding regarding the nature of science (NoS) and compare their understanding between genders in private Islamic schools in Thailand. Descriptive statistics and t-test independent was used to analyze the data. The results revealed that a majority of the participants held a transitional perspective on NoS. Furthermore, there were no statistically significant differences in NoS comprehension between genders at the .05 level. To enhance students' understanding of NoS in all domains, it is recommended that learning activities in private Islamic schools promote a reflective attitude towards NoS.

The effect of comic strip media on third-grade students’ writing story essay

This study aims to determine the effect of comic strip media on the ability to write stories for third-grade students at a private Islamic school in Porong. This research uses quantitative research. sampling with non-probability techniques to obtain 1 class, namely class III, following the data taken by the researchers. The data collection technique used the test method to find out the results of writing essays using a pre-test and post-test to find out how much influence the use of comic strip media had on the ability to write essays. In this study, the pre-experimental design was used with the one-group pretest-posttest design. The population that became the object of this research was 20 third-grade students of a private Islamic school in Porong. Based on data analysis using the N-Gain formula, it shows that the average result of the pre-test is 67.7, and the average result of the post-test score is 85.55. Based on data processing from the Eta Squared test, it was 0.871 in the pre-test and 0.882 in the post-test. If t 0.14 indicates that this comic strip medium has a significant influence, the results of the paired sample pre-test sig. (2-tailed) in the study are.000, then the decision-making is following the t-test. If the value of sig. (2-tailed) is below 0.05, then there is an increase or a very significant effect on the research variables. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of comic strip media on the ability to write stories by third-grade students greatly affects their writing ability of students.

Multimodal digital extensive reading program: a reflection on literacy movement in madrasah and pesantren

Over the years, ample studies on diverse school literacy movements have been discussed. However, multimodal digital extensive reading (MDER) has not been fully incorporated into literacy programs in Islamic private school (madrasah) and Islamic boarding school (pesantren). This study attempts to investigate how digital literacy and reading literacy in the form of MDER program in madrasah and pesantren can be deployed to build strong reading habits. This study employed a qualitative case study design. It involved nine novice teacher participants from ten madrasahs and pesantrens, and one supervisor. The data were garnered from the participants' reflective journals, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), documentation, and interview with the supervisor. The collected data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The results of this study showed three fundamental tenets of the MDER program in madrasah and pesantren: teachers’ efforts, the sustainable collaboration between teachers and students, and a long-term partnership among school members and stakeholders. The result sheds light on how to build a reading habit and digital literacy in madrasah and pesantren. It also implicates the role of leaders’ policy in achieving successful program implementation.

PRE-SERVICE ENGLISH TEACHERS' READINESS TO DEVELOP DIGITALIZED AUTHENTIC MATERIALS WITH ISLAMIC VALUES

Pre-service English teachers still need to gain the competence to develop authentic materials with Islamic values, reflected by their low perceived readiness. To reveal their readiness, this study was conducted by using narrative inquiry. The data were gathered from the storytelling of pre-service English teachers pursuing master's degrees at IAIN Kediri. Participants in this study were one male and one female student with teaching experience. The data were analyzed by using thematic analysis. The data showed that the pre-service teachers believed the readiness to develop digitalized authentic materials with Islamic values could have been more optimal. It is because of the existing instructional materials provided by the government, their lack of confidence as new teachers, and their limited autonomous access to their classes as a new teacher. English textbooks provided by the government are only general English. So, it makes the teachers follow the materials instead of developing authentic materials with Islamic values that are fundamentally needed by students studying in Islamic institutions, such as modifying the materials from books to reflect Muslim activities. Therefore, the pre-service teachers must expose themselves to integrated materials books and digital materials with Islamic values.

The Models of Private Islamic School Based on Social Capital (PISSC) in Purwokerto Indonesia

Research on social capital in non-educational areas has been carried out by many experts, such as Bhandari & Yasunobu, Putnam, Coleman, and Paxton, etc. And, researches on social capital focused on educational institutions among others, carried out by Stoddart, Ju'subaidi, and Behtoui and Strömberg. They concluded that social capital is a determining factor in developing educational institutions. However, not all educational institutions are aware of this. This study aimed to analyze the social capital used by SMP Al-Irsyad Al-Islamiyah and SMP Putra Harapan Boarding School in Purwokerto which have succeeded in building their schools. Meanwhile, the collection method used is interviews, observation and documentation and then analyzed by collecting, reducing, and displaying data which ends with a drawing conclusion. The findings indicate that two institutions have the same model of bonding, bridging, or in trust building. However, Sample A is homogeneous exclusively and sample B is heterogeneous inclusive. The relationship built on Sample A is vertical, while Sample B is horizontal. Meanwhile, in building a branding image, Sample A uses the label of Al-Irsyad Islamiyah and in Sample B offers a boarding program that must be followed by all students. The trust development carried out by the two instutions has created a distinctive development identity in Islamic schools and it has become a good value in the society.
