Developing Natural and Social Sciences Teaching Materials Using A Self-Instruction Approach Containing Tri Kaya Parisudha Concept For Primary School Students: A Preliminary Research

Purpose: This research aims to identify the need for natural and social science teaching materials by the demands of the independent learning curriculum and the obstacles faced in learning natural and social sciences using the self-instruction approach and the tri kaya parisudha concept. Method: This research was conducted using the literature review research method. The data collected comes from books, research studies and research results published in national and international scientific journals. The collected data was analyzed qualitatively using an interactive data analysis model consisting of three stages: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. Results and conclusion: Teaching materials with a self-instruction approach and containing the tri kaya parisudha can be a solution to meet the demands of an independent curriculum for Natural and Social Sciences subjects. This is because self-instruction has several characteristics that solve the challenges of learning Natural and Social Sciences and the demands of an independent curriculum in realizing quality learning that suits the needs and learning environment. Meanwhile, Tri kaya parisudha helps implement character education emphasising thinking, saying and doing good things. Research implications: The results of this research can be used as material for consideration in developing teaching materials for learning Natural and Social Sciences using a self-instruction approach containing tri hita karana. Originality/value: Teaching materials that combine modern learning concepts with local wisdom are still rarely developed. This research combines the concept of modern learning, namely self-instruction, with local wisdom possessed by the Balinese people in developing character, namely tri kaya parisudha. So, it can be said that this research offers something new by combining modern and traditional concepts already known by society into the natural and social sciences learning process.

My first expression as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Foot and Ankle is one of deep gratitude for the opportunity that is being given to me by the Editor Emeritus and now President of ABTPé, Prof. Dr. Alexandre Leme Godoy-Santos and our colleagues from the board of Associate Editors who elevated me to this position. My gratitude also extends to ABTPé, which, through successive directorships, has been providing support and encouragement to the maintenance and growth of our journal. The task we undertake is challenging and immense—it depends on everyone's participation, from the most renowned professional who allows himself to publish with us to the most novice student who aspires, one day, to have his name written on our pages so that his ideas can be known to everyone. It depends on the altruism and tenacity of authors, reviewers, translators, correctors, layout designers, and technical editors to achieve the desired indexing. We have already been much further from achieving this goal than we are now, but we still have a long way to go! Let's accomplish this together. In addition to a new system for submitting and evaluating articles, more in line with the major international scientific journals, we will include in each issue review articles whose main virtue will be to update professionals who are working daily and instruct young doctors who are still preparing to participate in this toil. Coping with the pressures of life and acquiring personal and social skills have always been a part of the realities of human life and have been manifested in different forms in different periods of life. Conflicts do not show much in childhood, but with age and when facing the special difficulties of adolescence and youth, internal and environmental conflicts become more apparent. Therefore, if people master daily life skills and social responsibilities from childhood, they will perform well in stressful situations. The current research is designed to investigate adaptive behaviors in mentally retarded people. Because, the knowledge and awareness of educational specialists, parents and educators regarding the adaptive behaviors of children and also the use of different methods in facing problems and situations can be effective in dealing with them and forming adaptive behaviors and can affect different aspects of their lives. The present research is descriptive-analytical which was done in the form of a library. The tools for collecting information in this research are psychology books, research articles and reputable national and international scientific journals. Researches findings show, early assessment and interventions have a significant impact on the development of children's adaptive behaviors from an early age. This awareness can be a great help in planning and designing educational models for these children in the field of adaptive skills and problem solving.

Study of Etiology, Diagnosis and Treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a behavioral- developmental disorder that causes impulsive reactions, learning disorders and excessive physical activities and is associated with some abnormal behaviors. Attention deficit disorder is diagnosed more often in children. However, this disorder has also been observed in adults. Hyperactivity disorder begins around the ages of 2 to 4 years and 3 to 7 percent of children in the world suffer from this disorderو and the prevalence of this disorder in boys is 2 to 9 times higher than in girls. The present research is descriptive-analytical which was done in the form of a library. The tools for collecting information in this research are psychology books, research articles and reputable national and international scientific journals. According to the researches, it can be said that the most important symptoms of this disorder are the inability to concentrate, excessive mobility, and impulsive behaviors. Psychosocial, biological and genetic factors play a major role in the occurrence of this disorder. To treat this disorder, drug therapy is used in the first step, and psychotherapy approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, and coaching are used in the next step. Research findings show that if this disorder is not treated, it can disrupt the important functions of a person's life, such as family function, social function, and educational function.

Innovation research in and on Africa: A literature analysis in 2015–2021

Innovation scholars disseminate their significant findings through international scientific journals. We conducted content analysis of 2,869 peer-reviewed articles on innovation in Africa, examining their origins, themes, collaborative networks, and scholarly influence. These articles, spanning the years 2015–2021, were curated from the Web of Science database across scientific, social science, and humanities journals. The findings reveal that 46.3% of these articles lacked contributions from African organizations or scholars, while 25.1% involved collaborations between African and non-African entities. A remaining 28.6% were exclusively authored by African scholars, with South African universities being the most frequent contributors. Notably, articles authored by scholars from non-African institutions garnered more citations and appeared in journals with higher impact factors. Key themes within these articles revolved around the knowledge economy, African business innovation, agricultural advancements, and the role of mobile phones in knowledge dissemination and marketing. Surprisingly, sustainability topics were notably absent. South Africa, Kenya, and Ghana featured prominently in the discussions. In conclusion, it is imperative to foster broader participation from African nations and scholars in innovation research and ensure a stronger African perspective in international publications. Additionally, as open-access publishing gains momentum, concerns about escalating publishing costs warrant attention.

Life Path of Professor Elena Pavlovna Yakovleva (1938–2023)

This essay describes the life path of Professor Elena Pavlovna Yakovleva, a Doctor of Biological Sciences, who headed the Biotechnology Department at the Saint Petersburg Chemical Pharmaceutical Academy from 1993 to 2013. Elena Pavlovna is the author of over 30 inventions, more than 180 publications in leading Russian and international scientific journals, a co-author of the monograph “Regulation of the biosynthesis of biologically active substances,” and the textbook “Biotechnology.” E. P. Yakovleva’s works have been recognized with bronze awards from VDNKh of the USSR. In 2006, Elena Pavlovna Yakovleva was included in the list of top biotechnology experts published in the USA by Marquis Who’s Who magazine. Elena Pavlovna Yakovleva worked at the Saint Petersburg Chemical Pharmaceutical Academy until she was 80 years old. She was a talented scientist, valued and respected by her university colleagues, possessed a gentle character, high intellect, caring attitude towards staff and students, always showed interest in people’s problems, and endeavored to help anyone in need of her support. We would like to express our special gratitude to Maxim Evgenievich Yakovlev, Elena Pavlovna’s grandson, as well as her son and daughter-in-law, for their help in summarizing archival materials provided from the family archive.

Wind-Powered Desalination on Islands: A Review of Energy–Water Pathways

Water scarcity is a global problem that particularly affects islands located in arid regions or regions with limited water resources. This issue has prompted the development of non-conventional water sources such as fossil fuel-powered desalination systems. Concern about the high energy and environmental costs associated with this type of facility has created the ideal framework for the proliferation of desalination projects powered by renewable energies, especially wind energy due to the multiple advantages it offers. This article provides a bibliometric analysis to identify the advances made in wind-powered desalination on islands. While many studies explore wind-powered desalination, none compile references specific to islands. This paper analyses islands’ desalination needs and showcases wind-powered systems, exploring their types and uses. Firstly, the most relevant international scientific journals are identified to allow the subsequent selection and quantitative and qualitative analysis of articles directly dealing with wind-powered desalination systems. A total of 2344 articles obtained from the Scopus database were analyzed, of which 144 including 181 case studies were selected. Among the results of this study, an increasing year-on-year trend is observed in the number of published studies tackling wind-powered desalination. Finally, this paper presents a series of maps showing the most relevant facilities, projects, and data in this field, and provides an overview of the lessons learned in the decarbonization of desalination.

A RevSALUS em 2023 e 2024: reflexões científicas, agradecimento aos seus revisores e horizontes para o futuro

At the beginning of 2024, we take stock of the scientific progress of RevSALUS – RACS’ International Scientific Journal (Lusophone Academic Network of Health Sciences) we thank all those who have played a key role in another successful year for the journal, and we look ahead to the goals we want to achieve. As in the previous year, in 2023, RevSALUS published three regular issues, as well as two supplementary issues, resulting in a total of 22 articles and 236 abstracts from the various areas of life and health sciences. Throughout 2023, RevSALUS received a total of 40 articles through its editorial management platform, 14 of which were accepted for publication. With the growing scientific recognition of RevSALUS in the international arena, particularly in Lusophony, we are continuing the path to achieving indexing in the most prestigious databases in the health and life sciences. The journey so far has been marked by an unwavering commitment to scientific excellence, and we will continue to promote knowledge based on scientific integrity.

The Activity-Based Costing System Applied in Higher Education Institutions: A Systematic Review and Mapping of the Literature

Objective: In recent years, management accounting in higher education institutions has undergone significant changes due to the various New Public Management (NPM) reforms. One of the management accounting tools that has been advised to HEIs is Activity-Based Costing (ABC). With this evolving field of research, this article aims to analyze research in international scientific journals focusing on ABC in HEIs. To this end, this article provides an overview of how research in this area has evolved. We present an overview of the past, present, and future of research in the field of the ABC model applied in HEIs. Methodology: Through a systematic literature review, the Web of Science and Scopus databases were used as a source of articles. Our analysis is based on a total of 139 articles. We used a systematic literature review combining different bibliometric techniques. These allowed us to develop a mapping of the literature on the application of the ABC model in HEIs, which helps us better understand the research related to the topic and its evolution. Results: It is concluded that the existing literature on this topic has developed along three lines of research: implementation of ABC as a cost-control method, TDABC as a time-based cost-control method, and the application of the ABC Method in health services. Originality: Based on the results found, this article identifies avenues of research that can be explored, namely the study of the application of ABC in the education sector, and provides a research agenda for future studies.

Effectiveness of Prenatal Yoga in Reducing Anxiety and Back Pain in Pregnancy: A Systematic Literature Review

Introduction: Prenatal yoga is a form of exercise that pregnant women can do to improve physical and mental fitness. Several studies have shown that prenatal yoga can reduce anxiety and back pain in pregnancy. This study aims to examine the potential of prenatal yoga in reducing anxiety and back pain in pregnancy through a systematic literature review.
 Methods: This research was conducted using a systematic literature review method. The articles analyzed were articles published in international scientific journals and in English with the following inclusion criteria: Research conducted on pregnant women in the second or third trimester, Research using prenatal yoga as an intervention, Research using outcome measures for anxiety and/or pain back.
 Results: Of the 123 articles found, 10 articles met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed. The results showed that prenatal yoga could significantly reduce anxiety (mean difference = -4.20; 95% CI = -6.31, -2.09) and back pain (mean difference = -2.97; 95% CI = -3.96, -2.08) in pregnant women.
 Conclusion: Prenatal yoga is an effective intervention to reduce anxiety and back pain in pregnancy.

Propose Marketing Strategies of Oasis Siliwangi Sport Hotel to Increase Brand Awareness and Purchase Intention

After the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, there was a rise in tourist visitors from different parts of Indonesia to Bandung, resulting in a direct boost in the occupancy rate of star hotels in the city. Because of this growth, numerous hotels developed, with the majority being 3-star establishments. The Oasis Siliwangi Sport Hotel is a three-star establishment in Bandung, offering a range of facilities and an ideal location. Oasis Siliwangi Sport Hotel in Bandung is now struggling with a lack of brand awareness, resulting in potential customers being unaware of the hotel’s existence and room occupancy rates. Consequently, this has led to a decline in the intention to make reservations. The objective of this study is to determine the variables that influence the level of brand awareness for Oasis Siliwangi Sport Hotel and develop effective marketing strategies to enhance the likelihood of customers choosing to stay at Oasis Siliwangi Sport Hotel. Data collection comes from primary data and secondary data. The primary data collection strategy is quantitative, utilizing a questionnaire for consumer analysis and hypothesis testing. Secondary data will be acquired from national and international scientific journals, previous research, book literature, government reports, and other reliable source of internet sites. The survey was disseminated to 217 potential target market participants with prior experience lodging at the hotel. The gathered data is analyzed using SMART PLS. The research findings indicate that Advertising and Social Media Marketing positively influence Brand Awareness. Furthermore, brand awareness, price, and facilities influence customer’s purchase intention. Based on these findings, several recommendations and strategies are made. These include create exciting bundling package and loyalty program, optimize promotion activities, utilize advertising to reach consumers, and strengthen hotel facility.

Canadian Geoscience Diplomacy in Collaboration with IUGS, UNESCO IGCP Geoparks, and World Heritage Geosites: Past, Present, and Future

To commemorate the 60th anniversary of IUGS and the 50th anniversary of IGCP, the 2022 symposium entitled “IUGS, Geoparks, and IGCP – Retrospection, today and the future” was coordinated at the GAC-MAC-IAH-CNC-CSPG 2022 Conference in Halifax (16–18 May) with the companion Cliffs of Fundy UNESCO Geopark field trip (19–21 May). Canadian leadership within IUGS and IGCP includes J.M. Harrison as the first president of IUGS in 1961, Antony Berger’s work publishing “Episodes”, which is the IUGS’ quarterly international scientific journal, and Canadian leadership on multiple IGCP projects summarized here. Two panel discussions examined the future of geosciences, UNESCO Geoparks and World Geoheritage Sites in Canada. The need for improved communications with politicians, policymakers, and the general public through education and outreach was emphasized in these panel discussions. UNESCO Geoparks (such as the Cliffs of Fundy), UNESCO World Heritage Geosites and significant museum displays represent vehicles for improving communications with the general public about geosciences and potentially inspiring future geoscientists. This report provides a summary of the symposium and explores some of the many themes that it addressed.

Legal Aspects in Business Alliances and Strategic Partnerships Between Airlines

The research explores the role of law in governing business alliances and strategic partnerships in the aviation industry, analyses its legal framework, its business implications, and provides policy recommendations. Qualitative methods are used by summarizing findings from several international scientific journals. The findings highlight legal aspects such as antitrust regulation, consumer protection, and liability towards employees. The importance of regulatory compliance for safe and fair operations is highlighted, as well as periodic reviews of legal responses. By strengthening understanding and implementation of legal aspects, the aviation industry can better address future challenges and safeguard the interests of stakeholders.

Production logistics digital twins: Research profiling, application, challenges and opportunities

In the era of Industry 4.0, Production Logistic Digital Twins (PLDTs) have garnered remarkable attention from both academic and industrial communities. This is evident from the growing number of research publications on PLDTs in international scientific journals and conferences. However, given the diversity and complexity of production logistics activities, there is a pressing need for systematic literature review to chart past research and identify potential directions for future endeavors. Therefore, this study primarily focuses on the application of Digital Twins (DTs) in Production Logistics (PL). Firstly, an analysis of PLDTs research profiling is carried out based on general trends, keywords, application scenarios, and basic functions. Secondly, the functional characteristics of PLDTs are examined while summarizing their advantages and limitations across various application scenarios such as transportation, packaging, warehousing, material distribution, and information processing. And the roles played by smart technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT) in PLDTs system are discussed. Finally, possible challenges and future directions of PLDTs in industrial application are presented, accompanied by appropriate classification and extensive recommendations.

Obstacles to scientific publishing in scientific journals classified within the (ISI) and (Scopus) databases from the point of view of faculty members in some universities in Arab countries

This study sought to identify the most prominent obstacles to publishing in international refereed scientific journals classified within the (ISI) and (Scopus) databases from the faculty members' point of view, the extent of their interest in conducting research and publishing it in international refereed journals. It also shed light on the significance of publishing in refereed journals for faculty members and the most important opportunities that publishing in journals provides for faculty members and most of the bodies in which studies, research and books are published. The study used the descriptive-analytical approach. The researcher used a questionnaire to reveal the obstacles to scientific publishing in international refereed scientific journals. The questionnaire consisted of (20) phrases using a five-point scale (agree, strongly agree, neutral, disagree, Strongly Disagree). The study sample was limited to 200 faculty members in some Saudi and non-Saudi universities. The study found several obstacles to publication in international refereed journals, including the lengthy period spent in the research refereeing process, the high cost of publishing in international refereed scientific journals, the large teaching load, and the multiplicity of routine procedures associated with submitting and receiving research for publication in international refereed scientific journals classified, and the length of time taken in the process of receiving research published in international scientific journals. The study came out with several recommendations, the most important of which is the need to launch a unified website for Arab universities that includes fixed and transparent standards that serve as the primary reference for researchers in the Arab world concerning the rules of scientific authorship and publication.

Bibliometric Analysis with the Vosviewer-Based Keyword "Mathematical Abilities"

Using VOSviewer can help students identify current journals or articles and spot gaps in current journals. This study also aims to identify mathematical articles that get the highest number of journals, make journal rankings, determine the country where they are published and make maps to find positions in international scientific journals and. using the Google Scholar database. This study used bibliometric analysis method. The population that was the subject of this study was 1000 articles found through data analysis using the Publish or Perish (PoP) tool between 2017 and 2022. The data is recorded in Microsoft Excel as input for data processing and storage in the RIS system. use the VOSviewer app to create visuals for popular publications. There was a significant increase in articles from 2017 to reach the highest number in 2019. In graph analysis using VOSviewer software, there are two topics related to bibliometric analysis, namely "Mathematics" and "Ability" that have not been studied. a lot of things and research. . new. These topics offer opportunities for further research.
