Artificial Intelligence-Based Landslide Studies in Indonesia: A Systematic Review in Recent Years

Abstract Landslide is still a hot topic in geological hazard discussion, including Indonesia. Various methods, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), are used to do research development on landslide topics. Therefore, this paper aims to present a comprehensive review of AI-based landslide studies that focus on specific application area, feature engineering method (FEM), and Digital Elevation Model (DEM) sources used in the studies. This research used a qualitative method with a systematic review approach toward recent landslide studies (2012-2022) that investigated systematically in a synthesis. The exploration resulted in 26 papers from national and international indexed journals or proceedings, which filtered into 13 articles that discuss or mention the specific application area, FEM, and DEM sources. The analysis shows that AI applications in landslide studies are dominated for landslide susceptibility mapping and still a few for other applications. It also shows that almost all AI-based landslide studies chose SRTM as the source of DEM. Regarding FEM, only five articles discussed important landslide factor selection. There are four FEMs that were used in those studies, i.e., variable deduction, certainty factor model, C.45 algorithm, and variable importance ranking. From the deep analysis of those 13 articles, it can be concluded that AI-based landslide studies in Indonesia still need to be developed instead of focusing on landslide susceptibility mapping only. Studies to find effective landslide factors and compatible DEM resources using AI also can be new opportunities for landslide experts.

Service Quality and Customer Satisfaction Have an Impact on Increasing Hotel Room Occupancy Ratio: Literature Review Study

The aim of this study is to provide qualitative evidence related to the variables of this study from sources derived from national and international indexed journals or scientific articles found through Google Scholar. Researchers then make recommendations from their own perspectives. The research method used in this qualitative study uses a mini-review approach to achieve the research objectives. A mini-evaluation of the variables is done by reading and analyzing dozens of peer-reviewed journal articles. Research results, although still minimal and far from perfect, meet expectations and at least contribute to science and knowledge, especially in the areas of marketing management, service quality variables, customer satisfaction, and revenue improvement. I found out that there is. Just as customer satisfaction variables affect hotel room occupancy, service quality also affects hotel room occupancy. Increasing the above variables should always be done within the study population, especially for guests staying directly at the hotel. It should also be done in future research. There are gaps in other variables that could be used for future research, such as price, advertising, location, loyalty and brand image variables.

Terapi Sosial Kognitif terhadap Gaya Hidup Pasien dengan Hipertensi

This study aims to identify research articles that describe the effectiveness of cognitive and social therapy in increasing lifestyle compliance in hypertensive patients. The research uses a literature review of national and international indexed journals. The research results showed that from 6 articles, it was found that social cognitive therapy was significantly related to the lifestyle of hypertensive patients. The components of social cognitive therapy, namely social factors, personal factors, and environmental factors, must be sustainable to create high lifestyle compliance. In conclusion, the components of social cognitive theory will influence individuals to live a lifestyle modified according to the physical conditions experienced. These three factors must be sustainable to produce high compliance with the lifestyle.

The rhetorical density of authorial emotiveness and voice passiveness in abstract compositions

The study sought to examine authorial emotiveness and passive tone of academic writing in academic research abstracts (RAs) to appeal to the Aristotelian pathos. Based on the integrated framework of Contrastive Rhetoric and Domain of Emotional Tone, this study investigated the overall demonstration of emotional appeal through quantitative content analysis of two rhetorical items - emotive phrases and passive voice in subtly ‘colouring’ the academic tone of research abstracts. Four hundred eighty (480) research abstracts (RAs) of the international non-native English writers (INE) and Malaysian non-native English writers (MNNE) were sampled from 88 national and international indexed journals. Two quantitative analysis tools were used to auto-generate the frequency percentages, which were then analysed with SPSS. It was found that MNNE RAs showed a significantly denser level of overall emotional appeal than INE RAs. The authorial tones of emotiveness and passiveness were also distinctly heavier in academic MNNE RAs than INE RAs. These were concluded as the marked rhetorical features of non-native English writers, deflecting them from the ones used by native English writers. In terms of research implication, the common trend of these features was not to be misconstrued by MNNE writers as the main rhetorical appeal of research composition.

Bioprocessing of Avian Influenza VLP Vaccine using Baculovirus-Insect Cell Expression System

Vaccines are widely used as a preventive measure against influenza virus infection. However, these vaccines gain concerns regarding their biosafety due to implementing the highly pathogenic avian influenza in the production process. A breakthrough that uses insect cells due to their ability to produce protein rapidly, especially viral antigens for the potential avian influenza outbreak, is being extensively researched. Insect cells infected by baculovirus (BV) are utilized to express proteins known as virus-like protein (VLP). The objective of this review is to assess the production of the avian influenza vaccine (i.e., H5N1 and H7N9 strains) made from VLP by utilizing a baculovirus-insect cell (BV-IC) expression system. A narrative review was conducted by screening international indexed journals from the last 10 years about the topic. The result shows that VLP vaccine development using BV-IC expression can be a cheaper and safer alternative to conventional vaccines while also producing a high yield. The upstream process consists of the IC infection by the BV and BV-IC cell cultivation inside the bioreactor. The downstream process consists of the purification of the VLP product until it becomes a functioning vaccine. The VLP vaccine has improved immunogenic quality, enabling a more specific immune response than other vaccines. However, studies performed on avian influenza vaccines produced by the BV-IC expression system are still lacking. Therefore, further studies are required to improve the current VLP vaccine production processes.

Pelatihan Online Metode Kuantitatif: Model Runtun Waktu Terapan

Abstract Purpose: the aim of this training is to improve the skill and ability of participants to apply quantitative method of time series model in their researchers by using zoom application. Method: the descriptive analysis is used to analyze this activity based on the responses of the participants in this training. Results: based on the results of the training on the quantitative method of applied time series model, it can be concluded that this activity is very important so that participants can understand data and be able to enter data correctly so as not to cause problems when estimating and processing other statistical data. Contribution: in general, the participants felt that they were very good at implementing this activity and they hoped that there would be additional activities that were more focused on practice so that participants could apply various time series models in research and teaching at their respective institutions. İt is recommended that participants need further training related to the application of the theories that have been presented in this training in order participants are able to publish their papers in international indexed journals.

Emergency care under the magnifying glass: a review of ethnographic studies in the scientific literature on hospital emergency services.

The article presents a review of ethnographic studies in the scientific literature on hospital emergency services, with the objective of systematizing the studies and their principal findings, referring to the health-disease-healthcare process in hospital emergency services from an ethnographic perspective. An integrative literature review was performed of studies published in Argentine and international indexed journals and in the following electronic databases: PubMed, VHL, Scopus, Redalyc, and SciELO. The corpus of the analysis consisted of a total of 69 articles, which were submitted to content analysis, having identified the following analytical dimensions: quality of care, communication and bonds, subjectivity, application of information technologies, methodological reflection, patients' experiences and practices, decision-making, and violence. The results allowed identifying a process that differs from guidelines and protocols, in which healthcare workers' subjective aspects, communication and interpersonal relations, and working conditions shape, orient, and condition the treatment and care provided in the hospital. The article thus highlights the approach to subjective aspects in health studies, to understand not only health workers' perspectives and experiences but also the persistent barriers to providing better quality of care, complexifying a problem ignored by a large share of the analyses.

Shaping of a writing researcher’s identity

The article highlights the problem of writing for publication research purposes and its impact on a beginning scientist’s identity. The author points out two aspects of research writing and publication in international indexed journals. The first aspect is the developed skills of academic writing in English. The second aspect is the knowledge of research methodology and scientific publication design. The paper views the use of the two mentioned skillsets through the lens of English for Scientific Research module. During the module, the doctorate students of Northern (Arctic) Federal University were offered a survey consisting of three blocks of questions. The students’ answers were further developed through Socratic questioning technique in order to investigate the students’ identity formation. The findings reveal a severe lack of confidence among beginning scientists in relation to the research publication process, particularly to the methodology of research. The author concludes that the challenges of the research publication process impact the identity of a junior scientist in a negative key. The study demonstrates that beginning writing scientists need a thought-through professional assistance in the area of publication research, especially research methodology so that they could build a strong identity, necessary for their development in the international scientific community.

Sistemas automatizados para el control del recurso hídrico y variables ambientales bajo invernadero: aplicaciones y tendencias

Esta revisión se propone identificar las aplicaciones más recientes relacionadas con la automatización bajo invernadero con enfoque al uso adecuado del recurso hídrico y control de variables ambientales. La revisión hace parte del proyecto de investigación aplicada, diseño e implementación de un sistema SCADA para control del recurso hídrico y variables ambientales asociadas bajo invernadero mediante PLC. Se realiza una búsqueda detallada en revistas indexadas, nacionales e internacionales, páginas web, base de datos, y empresas relacionada al sector y se clasifica la información acorde a algunos criterios diferenciados; supervisión de variables bajo invernadero en sistemas irrigados, control automático del recurso hídrico y variables ambientales, adquisición de información para irrigación bajo invernadero, tendencias de la automatización en sistemas irrigados. A partir de la información se identifican las tecnologías recientes algunas aplicaciones, las tendencias y la necesidad de aplicarlas en el sector agrícola; como aporte para reducir el impacto de la migración de la mano de obra del campo a la ciudad.

Research productivity and main publishing institutions in C\xf4te d\u2019Ivoire, 2000\u20132016

BackgroundThe research productivity of countries commonly grouped within sub-Saharan Africa is as diverse as their cultural, economic, linguistic, political, and social profiles. While South Africa has been the science hub on the subcontinent for decades, publishing original research articles in the thousands, Mauritania struggles to have a single publication in international indexed journals in any given year. Detailed country-specific accounts on the co-evolution of research productivity and demographic and economic indicators from sub-Saharan Africa are lacking and render an accurate evaluation and cross-country comparison of internal research progress challenging.MethodsWe assessed the research productivity of Côte d’Ivoire, a francophone West African country that has gone through considerable sociopolitical unrest, for the period 2000–2016, and determined the main publishing institutions. We considered original research articles extracted from PubMed and Web of Science Core Collection, emphasizing life sciences and biomedical sciences.ResultsWe found the quantity of publications doubling from 4.1 to 8.5 per million population and the ‘total product’ – a measure for quantity and quality of published articles – rising from 0.8 to 22.1 per million population between 2000 and 2016. Since 2010 there was a marked increase in the proportion of English publications and a concomitant drop in the proportion of articles with Ivorian first and last authors. The percentage of foreign author contribution increased from 38.7% in 2000 to 71.6% in 2016, suggesting an ‘internationalization’ of the country’s research production and output. Mixed authorship compared with ‘Ivorian only’ showed higher representation in journals with an official impact factor by Web of Science with proportions of 73% versus 28% for 2008 and 91% versus 45% for 2016. Two universities and university hospitals and three autonomous research institutions were consistently among the top 10 institutions publishing peer-reviewed material in three selected years (2000, 2008, and 2016). The main features of the most successful publishing institutions were research staff size, diversification of research portfolio and funding, multiple research bases across the country, and established and productive partnerships with foreign institutions.ConclusionSince the turn of the millennium, research productivity in Côte d’Ivoire has steadily grown at an above regional and global rate despite recurring economic pressures and sociopolitical unrest. We have observed benefits of internationalization throughout this current analysis reaching from improved publishing standards to increasing resilience of research institutions in times of crisis.

Recent trends: Medical management of infectious keratitis.

This review article highlights the newer diagnostic modalities and approaches in the medical management of infectious keratitis. A Medline literature search conducted to March 2014 has been included. Recent studies or publications were selected from international indexed journals using suitable key words. Development of specular microscopy and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) has a promising role as diagnostic modalities in infectious keratitis, especially in refractory cases. Previously fortified antibiotics have been the mainstay of treatment for bacterial keratitis. Recently, the advent of fourth-generation fluoroquinolones monotherapy has shown promising results in the management of bacterial keratitis. Corneal collagen cross-linking is being considered in the refractory cases. Topical natamycin and amphotericin B should be considered as the first choice anti-fungal agents in suspected filamentous or yeast infection respectively. Voriconazole and newer routes of administration such as intrastromal and intracameral injection of conventional anti-fungal agents have demonstrated a positive clinical response. Ganciclovir is a newer anti-viral agent with promising results in herpes simplex keratitis. Thus, introduction of newer diagnostic modalities and collagen cross-linking along with fourth-generation fluoroquinolones and newer azoles have a promising role in the management of infectious keratitis.

Publish (in international indexed journals) or perish: Neoliberal ideology in a Korean university

Since the 1990s, universities in South Korea have participated in an aggressive movement to globalize their institutions through the medium of English by hiring English-proficient faculty. To attain tenure, faculty must publish in international indexed journals (IIJs), which results in a de facto language policy of publishing in English because most IIJs require English. Requiring faculty to publish in IIJs yields consequences on several levels. For professors, who may or may not be proficient in English academic writing, they must find time to handle teaching and administrative responsibilities, in addition to navigating academic publishing within a limited time period. This policy also serves larger agendas, notably to boost a university’s international ranking. In this paper, we examine the publishing requirements at one of South Korea’s leading universities. We approach language policy through a critique of neoliberalism to uncover how these requirements are interpreted at this university. Based on analyses of university policy documents and interviews with faculty, our research demonstrates that in this climate of heightened competition, publishing in English is sustained by monetary incentives as it is instrumental in elevating a university’s status as a reputable center of knowledge production. These findings further perpetuate the neoliberal viewpoint that the continual upgrading of oneself and, in turn, the university, will be rewarded, while negating the value of one’s publications in languages other than English, including Korean.

Literature Review : Hydrotherapy Reduce Blood Pressure among Hipertensive Clients

Hypertension is a cardiovascular disease that has been linked to a number of public health issues. This is due to unhealthy lifestyles and cellular and tissue physiological function impairment. Hydrotherapy is a non-pharmacological intervention that can lower blood pressure. As long as the patient is taking antihypertensive medications, this therapy becomes complementary. This study aims to describe the use of hydrotherapy that lowers blood pressure in hypertensive patients. The research design used is a literature review of national and international indexed journals. The databases used include ProQuest, GALE, OneSearch, RAMA, SINTA, and Google Scholar by using keywords hydrotherapy, blood pressure, and hypertension. Inclusion criteria are the range of publication years is in 2016-2020. While the exclusion criteria is when the independent variable used is a combination therapy. Based on a review of ten articles, hydrotherapy affects lowering blood pressure, therefore this therapy can be used as an adjunct therapy to lower blood pressure. This occurs because warm water dilates blood vessels, lowering blood pressure.

Políticas De Incentivos Relacionadas Con La Investigación:Una Revisión Crítica Desde La Teoría De Contratos

Universities in Colombia initially focused on teaching. Some of them, both public and private, have reconsidered their vision and have developed policies aimed at incorporating research into their priorities. Clear mechanisms of incentives for publication have been designed for the purpose of getting faculty members involved in the production of knowledge and the divulging of results through national and international indexed journals, books based on research findings, and academic conferences and events. This article aims to highlight the value of Contract Theory in order to provide an understanding of the research incentive policy at Colombian universities, conducting a review of major theoretical contributions to moral hazard problems and discussing research incentive policies in the light of these concepts.

Attitudes of Taiwanese scholars toward English and Chinese as languages of publication

Under the influence of globalization, English has almost become the default language in scientific academia. While the culture-independent nature of scientific research may result in scholars' preference for using one common language, over-reliance on English may shape non-English-speaking scholars' negative attitudes toward their national languages and may constrain their use of these languages in the domain of scientific publication. Therefore, this study investigated the attitudes of Taiwanese science scholars toward English and Chinese as languages of publication. The findings indicated that it is not “English” itself but its “pragmatic value” (which is accrued through publishing in international indexed journals) that drives the choice of English over Chinese. However, this choice has led to an early sign of diglossia and the minimal use of Chinese in scientific publication. To mitigate this problem, it is believed that stakeholders in both international indexed journals and local universities should make efforts to value different languages as well as local journals published in other languages.

Spinal cord injury sequelae alter drug pharmacokinetics: an overview

Literature review. Critical review of the literature published on the physiological alterations caused by spinal cord injury (SCI) and their effect on the pharmacokinetic parameters of commonly employed drugs. The review introduces the most recent treatment protocols of a variety of drugs, enabling the modern clinician to apply efficacious and cost-effective solutions to the pharmacological treatment of SCI patients. Studies published in international indexed journals up to January 2011 were selected from the PubMed database. The review evaluated the sequelae of SCI and their effect on pharmacological processes. The results demonstrated that these alterations affected the pharmacokinetics of drugs commonly administered to SCI patients, such as antibiotics, muscle relaxants, immunosuppressants and analgesics. There are multiple etiologies to SCI and patients present with varying degrees of impairment. Factors such as level of injury and completeness of the injury create a very heterogeneous population within the SCI community. The heterogeneity of this population creates a problem when trying to standardize pharmacokinetic (PK) parameters. It is because of this that specific physiological alterations must be linked to changes in PK and be identified within the clinical setting. This relationship between physiology and PK enables the clinician to be alert for possible pharmacological complications in individual patients based on their clinical manifestations. Future research should aim to develop rigorous therapeutic guidelines tailored to the diverse manifestations of SCI so as to provide effective, affordable and safe pharmacotherapy.

Valoración del impacto científico de las comunicaciones presentadas en el Congreso Nacional de Dermatología y Venereología (años 2000-2003)

IntroductionThe percentage of presentations at congresses that are later published is a measure of the scientific impact of these meetings. Our objective was to investigate how many studies presented in four Spanish national conferences (2000-2003) had been published in Spanish and international biomedical and dermatology journals, with or without an impact factor. Material and methodsA search for publications in international indexed journals (using PubMed) or publications in unindexed Spanish journals (using Dermabase/Índice Médico Español) was undertaken by the name of first author, the first and last author, and the key words of the article. ResultsOf a total of 1,471 scientific presentations, only 200 (13.5 %) were published (118 in Spanish journals and 82 in international ones); that is, 1,271 studies (86.5 %) were not published either in a Spanish or an international journal. ConclusionsWe found a low impact in terms of the publication rate for abstracts presented in 4 consecutive Spanish National Dermatology and Venereology Congresses compared to the rate of publication for other dermatology meetings such as the British Association of Dermatologists Annual Meeting.

Do postgraduate studies incentive and promote research and intelectual production?

To analyze, if in Colombia the rule, coined by developed countries, that postgraduate education, masters or specially doctorates obtained within any discipline, empowers professionals to realize research and logically make available the results to other scientists at national and international levels, the available antecedents of the leaders of research groups, corresponding to four of the eleven national programs of Science and Technology, recognized and established by Colciencias up to 2006, were analyzed and compared. It was successfully proven that, either the mayor part of university professors or researchers within specialized centers do not investigate or if they do so, the new knowledge or technologies obtained is not diffused appropriately. The female gender shows proportionally a higher intellectual production, even so women continue in disadvantage with regard to postgraduate education compared with men. Result publication within national or international indexed journals, although occupy an important percentage of the total, is equitably similar to articles published in non-indexed serials. Finally attention was attracted by the fact of the mayor production of private universities in comparison with the official ones, in spite of having the public universities at its disposal a higher number of professors, leaders of research groups, with postgraduate titles.

Psicologia da amizade na infância: uma revisão crítica da literatura recente

Este artigo apresenta uma revisão crítica da literatura recente sobre os aspectos psicológicos da amizade na infância. Aproximadamente, uma centena de artigos publicados em revistas indexadas de circulação internacional, de 1995 a 2003, foi selecionada e analisada. Os temas encontrados foram organizados em quatro grupos: 1) Aspectos metodológicos; 2) Dimensões de análise (incluindo similaridade e simetria, processos de cooperação, competição, apoio social, conflito e agressividade); 3) Redes sociais (a criança, seus pares e amigos) e contexto (família e escola); 4) Casos especiais: deficiência física e mental, rejeição, negligência, abuso, depressão e solidão. A literatura analisada apresenta: a) orientações teóricas e estratégias metodológicas diversificadas; b) falta de modelos teóricos da amizade ou de seus aspectos; c) carência de investigações em países em desenvolvimento. São propostas algumas possíveis orientações para a pesquisa empírica e teórica, incluindo a investigação das relações de amizade atribuídas aos familiares, novas dimensões da amizade na escola e na vizinhança, ampliação no número e na profundidade das dimensões investigadas, além da ampliação de casos especiais a serem considerados nos estudos da amizade, incluindo portadores de necessidades especiais e estudos sobre crianças enfrentando diferentes situações estressantes, como enfermidade física ou problemas psicológicos.
