FACTORS AFFECTING INTENTION TO USE NATIONAL SINGLE WINDOW (NSW) THROUGH PERCEIVED EASE OF USE AND PERCEIVED USEFULNESS IN IMPORT, EXPORT AND LOGISTICS ENTERPRISES

Purpose – The purposes of this research were to study factors affecting intention to use National Single Window (NSW) through perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness in import, export, and logistics enterprises.Methodology – The research methodology was quantitative research with survey method by using questionnaires for data collection. The respondents were 400 participants, who are importers, exporters, and logistics service providers which are located in the Bangkok Metropolitan Region. Descriptive statistics used for data analysis included frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. Due to hypothesis testing, inferential statistics were used, specifically Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient and Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM).Results – The results of hypothesis testing revealed that acceptance and use of technology had a positive and significant effect on perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness whereas organizational support had a positive and significant effect on perceived ease of use, and technology experience had a positive and significant effect on perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness at a significance level of 0.001. In addition, perceived ease of use had a positive and significant effect on perceived usefulness and intention to use, and perceived usefulness had a positive and significant effect on intention to use at a significance level of 0.001. Nevertheless, the results showed that organizational support did not have a significant effect on perceived ease of use. Finally, there were significant indirect effects on the relationships among acceptance and use of technology, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and intention to use. Implications –The findings present several implications for both academia and management practitioners, providing insights into crafting effective strategies to enhance users’ or employees’ technology adoption once new technologies and/or systems are introduced in the workplace.Originality/Value – This research sought to enhance comprehensive comprehension of the intricate interplay among the UTAUT Model, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and intention to use, interpreting their collective influence on potential users’ decisions toward the use of systems or IT. Also, the research can fill existing gaps in the literature and provide valuable insights for refining technological capability and competencies, particularly focusing on international entrepreneurship.

Realizing expectations? High-impact entrepreneurship across countries

AbstractComparative international entrepreneurship research has often used measures of high-growth expectations entrepreneurship to proxy for the construct of high-impact entrepreneurship. We revisit this practice by assessing the cross-country association between high-growth expectations and realized high-impact entrepreneurship to speak to construct measurement fit. We find that expectations are not a good proxy for realizations; they are associated with different determinants and outcomes, respectively. We go on to introduce the notion of entrepreneurial projection bias to gauge the misfit between expectations and realizations. Conditioning on entrepreneurial projection bias partially restores the association between realized high-impact entrepreneurship and its determinants (or outcomes) when realizations are proxied using expectations. Furthermore, we show that opportunity-motivated entrepreneurship also does not proxy well for high-impact entrepreneurship. Our analysis brings into question current survey-based approaches to measuring high-impact entrepreneurship and existing rankings of countries’ entrepreneurial performance, with important implications for entrepreneurship theory and policy.

Rational versus intuitive cognition and influence of dynamic managerial capabilities on SMEs’ perceived international performance: evidence from emerging economy

Purpose This study aims to investigate the relationships between managers’ cognitive styles, dynamic managerial capabilities and firms’ perceived international performance. The study is based on cognitive-experiential self-theory, dynamic managerial capabilities and international entrepreneurship. Design/methodology/approach Data were collected from 283 managers of small medium enterprises (SMEs) in Türkiye, an emerging economy. The research was conducted using quantitative methods, and Smart partial least squares (PLS) 4 software was used for data analysis. The data were examined through structural equation modelling and mediation analyses. Findings Findings indicate that rational cognitive styles positively influence managerial human capital, managerial social capital, managerial cognition and perceived international performance. However, the effect of intuitive cognitive styles was confirmed only on managerial cognition. Additionally, it was found that managerial cognition positively affects perceived international performance, whereas managerial social capital has a negative impact. However, the effects of managerial human capital could not be confirmed. Moreover, a full mediation relationship of managerial cognition between intuitive cognitive styles and perceived international performance was identified. Originality/value This research carves out a unique niche by synergizing cognitive-experiential self-theory with dynamic managerial capabilities to investigate their conjoined effect on firms’ international performance, an area previously underexplored. Unveiling insights from burgeoning economies like Türkiye enriches the existing body of knowledge, offering substantial contributions to the field of international business.

Entrepreneurship education on international entrepreneurship intention: the role of entrepreneurship alertness, proactive personality, innovative behaviour and global mindset

PurposeThis study investigated the impact of entrepreneurship education on the international entrepreneurship intention of the university students while considering the mediating roles of entrepreneurship alertness, proactive personality, innovative behaviour and the moderating role of global mindset in this relationship.Design/methodology/approachThe research employs a survey methodology, utilising a structured questionnaire for data collection. The study specifically concentrates on students enrolled at Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) in Ghana, drawing its sample from six academic programmes within the university. Data analysis is conducted using structural equation modeling (SEM).FindingsThe findings of this research revealed that entrepreneurship education exerts a positive influence on the international entrepreneurial intention. Furthermore, entrepreneurship alertness acts as a mediator in the relationship between entrepreneurship education and innovative behaviour. Similarly, a proactive personality serves as a mediating factor between entrepreneurship education and innovative behaviour. Moreover, innovative behaviour operates as a mediator in the relationship between entrepreneurship education and international entrepreneurship intention. Additionally, a global mindset plays a crucial moderating role in the connection between entrepreneurship education and international entrepreneurship intention.Originality/valueThis study makes a significant contribution to the field by shedding light on the mediating roles of proactive personality, entrepreneurial alertness, innovative behaviour and global mindset moderating the relationship between entrepreneurship education and international entrepreneurship intention. These insights offer fresh perspectives on the complex dynamics at play in the realm of entrepreneurship education and its impact on students' intentions for the international entrepreneurship.

Pillars of Cooperation in International Entrepreneurship:A Qualitative Investigation of Turkish Ventures

Purpose –This study aims to explore the factors influencing network relations in the context of international entrepreneurship, with a specific focus on Turkish ventures. The investigation delves into the dynamics that underlie these relationships, aiming to uncover the key elements that shape and impact the engagement of Turkish businesses in international entrepreneurial activities.Design/methodology/approach –The study employs a qualitative approach, utilizing individual semi-structured interviews with purposive sampling. Interviews with twelve participants, including business owners, professionals, and practitioners who have direct experience in international entrepreneurship were recorded and transcribed. Thematic analysis was conducted to identify recurring themes from the qualitative data.Findings –The analysis of the interviews revealed four central themes that significantly influence network relations. First, trust emerges as a cornerstone element, playing a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining enduring relationships. Second, effective communication surfaces as a critical factor in aligning diverse perspectives among stakeholders. Third, the process of relational learning is highlighted as a continuous mechanism through which Turkish ventures gain knowledge from collaborative efforts. Lastly, the study underscores the diversity of strategies employed in the development of partnerships, indicating the multifaceted nature of fostering international collaborations.Discussion –These findings shed light on international entrepreneurship dynamics in Türkiye, emphasizing collaborative strategies. Ultimately, leveraging relationships enhances resource access and market competitiveness. This knowledge is consistent with the literature. On the other hand, investigating the reasons behind the lack of strong networks with non-customer/non-dealer parties in international markets in Turkish entrepreneurial behavior presents an intriguing subject for future research.

Do international new ventures have attraction advantages? Insights from a recruitment perspective

This study applies a recruitment lens to examine how the proactive internationalization of new ventures might influence job seeker perceptions of organizational attractiveness. Using signaling theory and person-environment fit theory to develop our hypotheses, we employ a metric conjoint experiment with 209 job seekers (making 3344 decisions). Our multilevel regression results suggest that the international new venture (INV) strategy of proactive internationalization presents an ambivalent recruiting signal to job seekers. However, this effect is positively moderated by job seekers’ personal initiative and international experience. We offer implications for signaling theory in international entrepreneurship, and practical implications for staffing INVs.

Gender and generational cohort impact on entrepreneurs’ emotional intelligence and transformational leadership

AbstractEmotional intelligence (EI) and leadership style are topics that have attracted a growing interest in the literature. In this study, we posit that entrepreneurs’ EI is an antecedent of transformational leadership (TL) while examining the moderating role of gender and generational cohort. Data were collected from 2,084 international entrepreneurs and analysed using multivariate analysis and hierarchical linear regression. The results confirm EI as an antecedent of TL and show that others’ emotion appraisal (OEA) and regulation of emotions (ROE) are the most contributing subdimensions of EI to TL. Moreover, the study also reveals significant gender and generational cohort differences for EI and TL. In one of the relevant findings, our research shows that only female Gen Z entrepreneurs have lower scores than their male counterparts. Although men’s EI scores are similar across generations, women’s scores are significantly higher in each older generation leaving ¡open questions for further research in the area.

The Moderating of Technological Adoption on Financial Literacy and International Entrepreneur Intention

Scholars have been and will likely remain interested in the study of entrepreneurial intention because of its importance to the development of numerous countries. The literature on entrepreneurial intention has addressed a wide range of subjects, with particular emphasis on the factors that influence entrepreneurial intention. However, the vast majority of these studies were conducted overseas. Since this topic always focuses on the agriculture sector when determining entrepreneurial purpose, the study targeted that industry. The purpose of this study is to examine the aspirations of young Malaysians to become international entrepreneurs. It especially aims to determine the relationship between each component of financial literacy (attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control) and technological adoption, as well as the effect of technological adoption on young people's ambitions to become international entrepreneurs. The study's conclusions demonstrated that financial literacy (attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control) and youth international entrepreneur intention were mediated by technology adoption. Exploring social cognition in an international context: insights from the social representations perspective on legitimacy among French entrepreneurs

ABSTRACT In the field of international entrepreneurship, there are increasing calls for the study of cognition in its social context. In this regard, this article draws on social representations theory to explore and better understand the cognition of entrepreneurs. The objective of the present study is to explore the social representation of legitimacy among different social groups and show how these collective images vary depending on the context in which entrepreneurs operate. By applying social representations theory to data gathered from a sample of 150 French entrepreneurs, we construct a framework that elucidates social development and the changes that influence entrepreneurs’ decision-making. In addition, this article reveals a new avenue of study in relation to legitimacy from a collective perspective.

International Entrepreneurial Culture in the Tunisian Context

The increasing internationalization of companies has led us to reflect on the structuring of an emerging field of research, namely international entrepreneurial culture (IEC). Moreover, the absence of a solid theoretical framework is one of the main factors contributing to the scattered nature of research in this field, which has led us to conduct further research on international entrepreneurial culture. After presenting the definition and dimensions of IEC, this study aims to analyze and synthesize previous empirical findings on this phenomenon to understand its causes and influencing factors, behaviors, and processes in the global context in which it is embedded. Following this study in the Tunisian context, we found that Tunisian companies have no intention of embracing the phenomenon of international entrepreneurial culture. The absence of an organizational culture, whether among managers or members of the organization, has a major effect on the entrenchment of an international entrepreneurial culture. Thus, international trade is a real motivator for Tunisian companies to embark on internationalization. In this respect, we propose some avenues of research to consolidate and develop the field of international entrepreneurial culture.

MANAGEMENT AND SUCCESS OF THE INTERNATIONAL ENTERPRISE

The article examines the issues of choosing strategies for the development of international entrepreneur- ship in a global economy with an assessment of individual decisions when entrepreneurs create international companies. The article presents the results of the study, which describes in detail the competition in the market and the competitiveness of the market. The main direction of the research is to identify the strengths and weak- nesses of the market. Significant problems in the market were discussed and analyzed, and ways to effectively solve them were presented. Interesting opinions and important recommendations are offered. The Mechanism of International Entrepreneurship to Improve the Innovation Performance of Enterprises: Based on the Perspective of Social Network

In order to avoid the negative impact of external disadvantages and changing international business environments, enterprises have an urgent need to establish an effective social network, seek improvement in innovation performance, and stabilize their position in the international market. This paper conducts an exploratory single case study on the Midea Group, investigates the mechanism of international entrepreneurship to improve enterprise innovation performance based on the formation of multiple social networks, including government network, business network, and technological network, and discovers that in the process of international entrepreneurship, three-dimensional social networks contribute to resource conversion, research and development capability, market share, and other factors that boost corporate innovation performance. This research helps to understand the key elements in the process of international entrepreneurship, as well as how to build a close social network with stakeholders, rationally allocate and share various resources, and improve the international business environment and innovation performance of enterprises.

Transition from entrepreneurship education to entrepreneurial intention: A cross-cultural effect

Through a cross-cultural examination, this study aims to analyse a move from the field of entrepreneurship education (EE) to entrepreneurial intention (EI). Specifically, we carried out mediation (perceived behavioural control (PBC) and attitude towards entrepreneurship (ATE)) and moderation (gender and country) analysis. The study surveyed 546 Polish and Spanish university students and used a multi-group analysis to test the model across groups. The results reveal that attitude and PBC partially mediate the effect of EE on EI. Moreover, the results show that the model is consistent in both countries. The study contributes to the comparative international entrepreneurship literature on how the theory of planned behaviour (TPB) applies in different contexts and implications it has for this field of study.

Internationalising high–tech SMEs: Advancing a new perspective of open innovation

Choosing a foreign market entry strategy is known to be essential for firm internationalisation yet there is very little focus on the role, purpose, and value of open innovation for internationalising high–tech SMEs. A review of the international business, international entrepreneurship and international marketing literature combined with a bibliometric mapping of 2501 articles on firm internationalisation, suggests that research does not readily associate open innovation and the internationalisation of high–tech SMEs. This is regardless of open innovation's activities that can span over a firm's immediate geographical space. Thus, this study introduces new theoretical explanations and a midrange open innovation theory to advance open innovation as an alternative foreign market entry strategy especially for internationalising high–tech SMEs. This has theoretical and practical implications for academics, international business managers, and practitioners because it introduces an alternative internationalisation strategy for SMEs.

Economic conditions of international entrepreneurship - globalization and global business

The issue of international trade is undoubtedly one of the most important foundations of the contemporary processes of internationalization and globalization. However, before they appeared, other events had to take place, the cumulative effects of which led to the formation of today's structure of the world economy understood as a specific system of connections between the main actors of international economic relations, i.e. international organizations, states and enterprises/corporations. It is worth, therefore, before proceeding with the analysis of current problems, to make a synthetic indication of the most important issues from modern economic history relating to the issues of international trade. Man as a farming being, motivated to act by his needs, constantly strives to satisfy them. Streszczenie Problematyka handlu międzynarodowego jest jednym z najważniejszych fundamentów współczesnych procesów internacjonalizacji i globalizacji gospodarki światowej. Zanim jednak one się pojawiły, musiały nastąpić inne zdarzenia, których skumulowane skutki doprowadziły do ukształtowania się dzisiejszej struktury gospodarki światowej rozumianej jako specyficzny system powiązań pomiędzy głównymi aktorami międzynarodowych stosunków gospodarczych, tj. organizacjami międzynarodowymi, państwami oraz korporacjami. Warto zatem syntetycznego wskazania najważniejszych zagadnień współczesnej historii gospodarczej, odnoszących się do problematyki handlu międzynarodowego. W artykule wykorzystano analityczne i syntetyczne metody badawcze.

African Firms Internationalization: What Can We Learn from the Most Cited Articles Published in the Last Decade?

Abstract This article aims to develop a recent overlook of African firms’ internationalization and its importance in consideration of the growing interest of multinational stakeholders. We analysed 26 most-cited journal articles, i.e., based on the number of citations, in the last decade, indexed in the Web of Science database, i.e., from 2011 to 2021. The previously published studies revealed that the internationalization of African firms is a fast-growing stream of the broader topic of international entrepreneurship. Our review also summarized two main research areas identified in the studied literature. The first focuses on selected features of African firms’ internationalization process. The second part underpins factors influencing their internationalization. The provided structured knowledge from the most cited articles serves as a tool to improve stakeholders’ understanding of international entrepreneurship in Africa. The study also proposes future research directions in international business and entrepreneurship in Africa. The article contributes to international entrepreneurship research in Africa by enumerating those aspects that shape the internationalization path of these global firms.
