Utilization of The Fizzo Novel Application as a Supporting Tool for Teaching Novel Writing to Support the Movement of Merdeka Belajar

Freedom of learning provides opportunities for educators and students to freely innovate skillfully in the learning process. The concept of free learning can be implemented in the learning process of both educators and students in Senior High School, such as the learning process about writing novels. Novel writing skills can be done by utilizing one of the applications provided in playstore / Appstore by downloading it on the handphone used by students. The application is Fizzo Novel, which is one of the applications that contains short stories, novels and others with a variety of genres.The research method used in this research is the Library study method (library research), namely by collecting data sourced from books or journals that have been published. The data used are secondary data related to writing skills, novels, students, Fizzo Novel. The research results in this study can play a role in honing writing skills and increasing the reading interest of high school students through the Fizzo Novel application.

Curious minds to aspiring pharmacists: Impact of high school outreach on pharmacy knowledge and interest

ObjectiveTo analyze the impact of a pharmacy student delivered presentation on prospective rural high school students' interest toward the pharmacy profession and knowledge regarding a career in pharmacy. MethodsPresentations about applying to pharmacy school, the Doctor of Pharmacy degree, and pharmacist careers were given at ten high schools across North Dakota and Minnesota by third year pharmacy students attending North Dakota State University. Each pharmacy student presenter received training to ensure that all high school students received clear and consistent information. A pre-post survey was used to understand the impact of the presentation on high school student interest and knowledge regarding a career in pharmacy. Data was analyzed using a chi-square test and McNemar's test. ResultsFive hundred and eight students consented to the study and completed the pre-post surveys. Of these students, the largest group was high school juniors (number (n) = 239, 47%), followed by sophomores (n = 161, 32%), seniors (n = 104, 20%) and freshmen (n = 3, 1%). The majority of students attended school in North Dakota (n = 469, 92%). Similarly, most students planned to attend a four-year college (n = 451, 89%) and were interested in a medical/healthcare related career (n = 310, 61%). All interest and knowledge questions showed a statistically significant increase in score pre-post. ConclusionPresentations delivered by pharmacy students to prospective rural high school students improved overall interest and knowledge regarding pharmacy school and the profession. Presentations are a useful tool for pharmacy programs to help promote their school and the profession of pharmacy.

PENGARUH SOKONGAN PENDIDIKAN DALAM MENINGKATKAN MINAT KEUSAHAWANAN MURID SEKOLAH MENENGAH

The objective of this study is to examine the influence of educational support consisting of activities in the classroom and activities outside the classroom on the entrepreneurial interest of high school students. Malaysia aims to produce students who are entrepreneurial, competitive, highly knowledgeable and productive through education. However, the number of candidates taking the Business subject is still low. Therefore, educational support is very important in influencing students' entrepreneurial interest. The tool used in this study is an online questionnaire and the study data was analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25.0. The study sample consisted of 331 high school students in Kinta Utara, Perak who were randomly selected. Descriptive analysis and inferential analysis, namely multiple linear regression analysis, were used in this study. The findings of the study show that the level of activities in the classroom and activities outside the classroom are at a high level. Meanwhile, the level of interest in entrepreneurship among high school students is at a moderately high level. Next, the research findings also show that R squared is 0.415. This means that educational support that consists of the construction of activities in the classroom and activities outside the classroom positively affects students' entrepreneurial interest. In addition, the findings of this study also show that both constructs of educational support contribute significantly to entrepreneurial interest. The results of this study can be used as a reference by responsible parties to further strengthen entrepreneurship-related activities at the secondary school level.

A customizable series of microbiology lab activities exploring a foodborne outbreak to enhance student recruitment to a biology program.

As educators at a small university, we are constantly trying to find new and innovative ways of getting high school students interested in a degree in Biology at our school. Thus, we designed an outreach program to draw interested high school students to our campus and participate in a day-long outbreak investigation. The investigation is composed of six distinct activities, each taking between 15 min and 1 h of active time. These activities can be used in conjunction or individually to engage students with basic epidemiology and microbiology. The modules included in this recruitment event are outbreak interviews, DNA fingerprinting analysis, Gram staining, examination of microbial diagnostic tests, use of high-performance liquid chromatography to analyze toxins, and examination of potential food preparation contamination. Our first event was a success, with all participants reporting that they enjoyed their time at the University and found the faculty and staff helpful. One of the students even said, "I wish all school was like this." The goal of this event was to increase potential student interest and enrollment in our program. We hope that in sharing our experience here we can provide other instructors with a menu from which to pick and choose inexpensive, easy, and engaging activities for high school and introductory college students.

Analyzing the level of interest of high school students in solving mathematical problems in the modular and face-to-face learning

As schools continue to adjust to changing circumstances, it is essential to use strategies that not only help students learn, but also interest and inspire them. More effective and engaging learning experiences can be created with the use of knowledge on how different strategies affect students’ levels of interest. This quantitative study aimed to analyze the interest levels of students in solving mathematical problems as mediated by different teaching ideas/strategies i.e., with gamification, with graphic and visuals, and with digital resources. Likert-scale was used to code and assign weight for the questionnaire. Findings indicated that interest levels of students were high during distance learning because they can access online resources (e.g., search engines, YouTube, e-books) to be used for independent learning. In face-to-face classes, students reported high level of interest in solving mathematical problems if there are learning aids (e.g., graphs, pictures, charts) presented to them and access to online resources. As suggested, teaching strategies require teachers to focus more on visual and online-assisted learning to make students feel interested in solving mathematical problems and in learning mathematical concepts. The findings offered teachers an opportunity to integrate more on innovative teaching through adapting to resources which their students have access to. Such instructional direction required in-depth assessment to establish some novel instructional strategies that stimulate students to learn more.

A70: An Experimental Study of Sports VR Equipment on Cultivating High School Students' Interest in Sports

Purpose: The incorporation of VR virtual teaching has garnered significant attention, with its applications spanning various disciplines and fields. Notably, in the realm of physical education, VR integration has not only contributed to the enhancement of instructional effectiveness but has also played a pivotal role in fostering the holistic development and personality growth of students. The primary objective of this study is to investigate whether VR virtual teaching can elevate the interest of high school students in the learning of physical education. Methods: Eighty students in high school were recruited and randomly divided into experimental and control groups (40 students of each gender in each group). The classes were taught for 8 weeks, once a week, and 90 minutes each time. The experimental group was taught by VR virtual teaching and the control group was taught by traditional teaching method. Questionnaires were administered to the experimental group and the control group before and after the teaching experiment to analyze the degree of change in students' interest in physical education. SPSS26.0 software was used for data processing to understand the changes in the experimental group and the control group. Results: There were more significant differences in four sub-dimensions of physical education learning interest in the experimental group compared to the control group (positive interest in physical education learning t=-4.23, P < 0.01; negative interest in physical education learning t=-2.99, P < 0.01; sports participation t=-4.42, P < 0.01; concern for physical education t=-5.03, P < 0.01); independent and inquiry learning t=-2.06, P < 0.05). The overall significant change in interest in physical education learning (t interest in physical education learning=-4.98, P < 0.01). The difference between the experimental group and the control group in the pre-test of physical education learning interest was not significant (t=0.37, P > 0.05), and the difference between the experimental group and the control group in the post-test of physical education learning interest was significant (t=2.13, P < 0.05). The results indicated that the experimental group had a significantly better effect than the control group in improving physical education learning interest under VR virtual teaching. Conclusion: VR virtual instruction was effective in improving high school students' attitude towards physical education including positive interest in physical education, negative interest in physical education, sports participation, and concern for physical education.

The Effect of Using Wordwall Game Application Media on Economics Subjects on Student Learning Outcomes at SMA Negeri 2 Sanga Desa

In this study, the problems found in the field are that the teaching and learning process is not optimal because students experience a form of learning difficulties related to characteristic, personality and study habits or students who excel below their ability level (wordwaall game). By applying synectic learning media, it is expected to overcome or at least direct adjustments to the problems faced by students. This study aims to determine the learning interest of grade XI IPS 1 students in economic growth and development at SMA Negeri 2 Sanga Desa. The method used in this study is the experimental method. Based on the results of the study, the results of the student wordwall game test showed that the average student who experienced it was 85.66% in the experimental class. In the synectic model category, the average student activity is 46.66% and in the experimental class learning outcomes students have an average Student activeness is 46.66%. The overall increase that occurred in students after applying wordwall game media synectic learning in the experimental class had an average of 85.66% or in the creteria "Improving / influential". In the results of the hypothesis carried out by researchers using a simple regression formula, this study there is an influence of wordwall games on the interest of high school students in economics subjects at SMA Negeri 2 Sanga Desa on the material of economic growth and development obtained t_(count =) 7.277>t_(table=)1.697 which means Ha is accepted while Ho is rejected. This study has an influence on other factors. Thus, this study shows that there is an influence of wordwall games on high school students' interest in economics subjects at SMA Negeri 2 Sanga Desa.

Motivation, Intensity and Quality of Educational Activity of Russian Schoolchildren in Online Learning

The article analyzes the possibility of transitioning a general education school to an online learning format. The indicators are such categories as educational activity, quality of education, intensity of education, learning motives. To achieve this goal, a sociological survey of high school students in Rostov-on-Don (Russia), as well as their parents and school teachers, was conducted. The last two groups of respondents are presented in the status of experts. Based on the analysis of empirical data, the following conclusions were made. More than half of all high school students surveyed (66.6%) expressed their intention to continue the online learning experience they received during the response to the COVID-19 epidemic. However, the conjugations of willingness to study online with the categories “learning motives”, “quality of education”, “intensity of education” showed that the high motivation declared by high school students for the learning process does not correspond to their real behavior in distance lessons. The main motive for choosing online education for high school students is the convenience of this format of education. The survey showed a low degree of significance of other reasons for choosing online education. Preferences for online convenience and the desire to learn asynchronously reflect the unmanifested goal of getting out of the teacher’s control in order to reduce their educational activity. It can be assumed that this is due to the social immaturity of high school students and the lack of understanding by most of them of the value of secondary education. Based on the analyzed data, three approximately equal groups of respondents were identified. In the first group, high school students are focused on the standard school-lesson system with elements of e-learning (40% of respondents). In the second group, the advantages of online learning are articulated, which are associated with convenience and greater resource potential compared to classical learning (35% of respondents). The third group represents the interests of high school students, who are not so much interested in the format of education as the opportunity to get out of the control of the teacher and find themselves in a convenient educational environment to simulate learning activities (25% of respondents). This means that online learning format, the usefulness of which is obvious only if students have a stable cognitive activity, is unacceptable for most high school students.

Abstract 13914: Development of a High School Mentorship and Scholarship Program to Promote Interest in Healthcare Among Students Underrepresented in Medicine

Introduction: Despite the rising demand, positive career outlooks, and promising salary in healthcare professions, youth from underrepresented backgrounds continue to be poorly represented in these careers. Mentorship has emerged as a strategy to enhance the involvement of underrepresented youth in healthcare careers, serving as one of the few effective approaches to address this disparity. Aims: The aim of this study was to develop practical recommendations for founding, growing, and sustaining a mentorship and scholarship program between a physician group and a racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse local high school. Methods: Each year, six events were hosted for high school students interested in healthcare. Events included hands-on activities, networking events, career panel discussions, and field trips to our simulation center. Following 2 years of successful program execution, a modified mini-Delphi approach was used to develop formal recommendations for founding, growing, and sustaining such a program. Results: On an observational basis, the mentorship program appeared effective at growing high school student interest in healthcare careers. Utilizing a modified mini-Delphi method, we created recommendations for the development of a healthcare mentorship and scholarship program. These recommendations are shown in Figure 1. Conclusions: These recommendations may serve as a guide for other programs that wish to establish similar programs. All our self-developed curricula, grant proposals, and marketing materials will be freely shared with any group wishing to develop a similar program.

Build the Teacher Pipeline Initiative: A Four-pronged Approach

To address local and the national teacher shortage, one college has launched the Build the Teacher Pipeline Initiative. The initiative is designed as a four-pronged, wraparound approach to not only recruit new teachers but also empower educators in elementary, secondary, and special education positions. The article outlines the goals and strategies of the four prongs – free housing for new students, scholarships for career changers, flexible graduate study options, and professional development for pre-service and in-service teachers. In collaboration with pre-k to 12 field partners, we are not only recruiting interested high school students but designing professional development opportunities to support existing teachers including our 28,000 alumni. The article will discuss the efforts and outcomes thus far and offer suggestions for replication.

Aspire2Health and COVID-19: the impact of the pandemic on outcomes from an outreach program to increase high school student interest in rural health careers.

Rural health career outreach programs promote health careers to secondary school students and aim to address rural health workforce shortages. This study analyses student feedback data from Aspire2Health, a multidisciplinary rural health career outreach program conducted in Queensland Australia before COVID in 2019, and during COVID lockdown and isolation periods during 2020-2021. The study aims were to assess the suitability of the program and its elements, the program's short-term impact on students' interest in health careers and whether COVID restrictions on program delivery affected students' program experience and outcomes. We conducted statistical and semantic analysis of data collected pre- and peri-COVID from participating secondary school students living in regional, rural and remote Australian communities. Data validity was established by triangulating quantitative results from items using a five-point Likert scales, qualitative themes from short-response items and frequency analysis of themes. Data were collected pre-COVID (2019, n=125) and peri-COVID (2020-21, n=248). Student responses to the program remained extremely positive despite COVID-imposed restrictions. Feedback scores indicated quite strong agreement in pre- and peri-COVID periods that the program motivated students to pursue a career in health (mean (M)=4.6 pre-COVID v M=4.5 peri-COVID) and that students would recommend the program to a friend (M=4.8 pre-COVID v M=4.7 peri-COVID). Overall ratings of the event were high, although a drop occurred during the peri-COVID period (M=4.8 pre-COVID v M=4.7 peri-COVID; p=0.043). Activity interest rankings indicated that, irrespective of the pandemic, clinical skills sessions, meeting health professionals and watching the emergency scenario were more interesting to students than ambulance and hospital tours (p<0.001). Four themes were generated from analysing qualitative data. In response to the item 'What did you enjoy the most?' the themes were 'clinical skills' (n=203, 55% of respondents) and 'interacting with professionals' (n=146, 39% of respondents). Responses to 'Is there anything we could do differently?' produced the themes 'no changes required' (n=158, 58% of respondents) and 'variety and duration' (n=40, 11% of respondents). 'Variety and duration' described students' desire for more variety, more professionals and more time to engage in activities. The themes and their frequency among student responses indicate strong support for the validity of the results. This study found that the Aspire2Heath program continued to motivate rural students to pursue health careers during the COVID-19 pandemic and that student interest is greatest during activities with hands-on clinical skills and student-professional interactions. These results suggests that rural health career outreach programs can be run under challenging social circumstances with confidence that students can be successfully encouraged to pursue health careers. Furthermore, program design should emphasise hands-on clinical skills and interactions with professions. These findings have practical implications for rural health career outreach programs, particularly those faced with restricted financing or external circumstances that limit their access to external healthcare resources.

The Influence of the Internet on Study Interests of High School Students in Timor Leste

Several schools in big cities in Timor-Leste already have computers connected to the Internet; these computers are used for school administration and the learning process to facilitate the process of communication and data exchange; each computer must be connected to a wired or wireless network. With a sufficient internet network, I hope students can increase their interest in learning. In this regard, this study aims to explain the positive and negative effects of the Internet on high school students' learning interest in Timor Leste. This research uses a quantitative method, which will be filled with numbers and statistics that will then be described descriptively. Based on the results of this study it is supported by data and analysis of significant conditions, which means that the Internet used is what is expected of the learning interests of high school students in Timor-Leste. Based on the SPSS version 25 data processing test on F count, the results were obtained so that the internet variable (X1) simultaneously had a simultaneous impact on learning interest (Y) for high school students in Timor-Leste with an F test score of 17.614 and a significant level of 0.000. And sourced from the test of the coefficient of determination that the Internet (X1) has on the learning interest of high school students in Timor-Leste. The summary model value of R&lt;sup&gt;2&lt;/sup&gt; is 0.317.

Clustering Performance Between K-means and Bisecting K-means for Students Interest in Senior High School

The interest of high school students is an important thing to do to see the talents of each student based on the academic scores obtained in the first and second semesters. There are two majors of interest in this case study, namely natural and social studies with criteria for natural studies scores including mathematics, chemistry, biology and physics. Meanwhile, the social studies criteria include history, economics, geography and sociology. This research propose comparing of clustering time and accuracy based on manual data from school as a reference of clustering in SMAN 1 Wonosari for 2011/2012 academic year using two clustering methods namely K-means and Bisecting K-Means. The results of this research compare to manual results interest from class teacher, so this work can demonstrate the run time comparison and accuracy of this study. The accuracy result shows 87.5% for both methods but different run times. For bisecting k-means got 0.0229849 seconds to complete the clustering process faster than k-means only got 0.0929448 seconds

The Implementation of Data Mining Method Using K-Means Algorithm to Analyze Study Interest of High School Students

At present, the school is experiencing difficulties processing the results of student academic achievement for the specialization process for high school students. The currently running student interest process still uses a manual system by calculating the subject value of each student and then grouping the results of the calculation of each student's value into science or social studies interest groups in accordance with the requirements imposed by the school. For that, we need a solution that can overcome these difficulties. The author develops the application using the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method, which consists of the requirements planning phase, the design phase, the construction phase, and the implementation phase. At the construction stage, the K-Means algorithm is implemented in data mining technology to classify student academic achievement results into science and social studies interest groups. The results of making this application are intended for the school, especially the homeroom teacher, so that it can be an alternative solution or advice in making decisions for student specialization.

Development of a Laboratory-based Physics Module with a Science Process Skills Approach to enhance the interest of High School Students

This study aims to develop a laboratory work-based physics module with a Science Process Skills approach to increase the interest of high school students. The research model used was ADDIE development and the research design used was research and development. The subjects in this study were 2 physics teachers and 20 class X students at SMA Negeri 1 Meulaboh. Research data was obtained through expert lecturer validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires. The feasibility of the module is measured by the validation of expert lecturers and questionnaire responses by research subjects. The overall result of the module validation shows a score of 95.07% which falls into the very feasible category, the teacher's response is 79% and the student's response is 74.5%. Data processing was carried out through statistical analysis using a Likert scale. The validation results show that the module is suitable for use and the teacher and student response questionnaires show the subject's response is to agree. From the two measurements, it was found that the Laboratory Work-based Physics Module with the Science Process Skills approach could increase the interest of high school students.

ФОРМУВАННЯ КУЛЬТУРНО-ОСВІТНІХ ІНТЕРЕСІВ УЧНІВ СТАРШОЇ ШКОЛИ ЗА ДОПОМОГОЮ СУЧАСНИХ ЗАСОБІВ КОМУНІКАЦІЇ

The publication is devoted to the analysis of the formation of cultural and educational interests of high school students using modern means of communication. The selected research topic is relevant for educational practice and meets the demands of society, since the use of informational means of communication is an integral part of both the educational process and the leisure time of a modern student. Schoolchildren actively use the possibilities of modern means of communication for learning and development. The study formulated the concept of "cultural and educational interest", analyzed the features of modern high school students, outlined that it is possible to form interest in the theoretical part of education from the practical activities of students, proved the importance of the influence of Internet technologies on the lives of high school students. The publication also highlights the peculiarities of the cultural and educational activities of high school students, which include participation in online projects instead of classical education in the form of museums, exhibitions, film trips, etc. The authors also presented the results of the research, which was conducted in the form of a survey among 15-16-year-old teenagers and which is shown in the second part of the article.

Development of research interests of high school students in the process of joint creative activities with students of pedagogical university

Introduction. The study is aimed at solving the problem of substantiation of ways to design continuous educational activities of high school students and students, leading them to the maximum disclosure of their creative potential. The proposed approach to solving this problem consists of using the potential of joint creative activity of high school students and students as a means of developing their common research interests. The purpose of this article is to substantiate the model of organization of this activity. Materials and methods. The study was conducted by methods of scientific literature analysis and modeling of informal educational environment as a system of psychological and pedagogical conditions of development of joint creative activity of high school and college students. The model was tested in the form of the Festival of Creative Ideas. The total number of participants was 150 people. The effectiveness of the created model was evaluated according to the following indicators: satisfaction of the participants with the obtained results; productivity of participation in the process of discussions; expression of research interests of high school and college students; expression of psychological barriers to subject-subjective interactions. Results. The principles underlying the organization of joint creative activity of senior pupils and students: dialogicality, productivity of subject-subject interactions and gamification are substantiated. The model of educational event as a structural unit of joint creative activity of senior pupils and students, including 4 blocks: diagnostic, communicative, content and reflexive, is created. The results of its experimental testing are characterized. It is shown that the majority of surveyed participants are most satisfied with the results of joint creative activity (84.1%), but insufficiently satisfied with their own contribution to this activity (36.4%). A wide range of research interests of high school students participating in joint creative activity with students has been revealed. The dominant interest is in the problems of choosing and mastering the future profession in the modern world (79.5%). The psychological barriers of the subjects of joint creative activity of senior pupils and students are reflected: fear of an unfamiliar situation (81,8%), fear of looking inadequate (75%), difficulty in establishing interpersonal contacts (68,2%). Conclusion. The general conclusion is made that the joint creative activity of high school students and students, carried out in an informal educational environment, has the result of the development of their research interests to the level comparable to the state of modern science.

Development of E-Module Materials of Quantities and Units Using Canva to Increase Students' Interest in Learning

This study aims to determine the characteristics and feasibility of developing an e-module using the Canva application to increase the learning interest of high school students. This research is a follow-up research that has been done previously which is only limited to the analysis stage, this research uses the ADDIE model RnD method. But in this research, it is only up to the development stage. This study uses an expert validation sheet assessment instrument that contains aspects of material, language and media. Based on the results of product validation tests that were validated by experts so that the percentage score for the material aspect was 85.45%, language was 87.50%, media was 89.58%, and interest in learning was 90.63%. The final result of the average score is 88.28%, can be categorized as very valid and the results of the student's perception response show very well with a percentage of 86.23%. Therefore, the e-module material of magnitude and unit using Canva to increase the learning interest of high school students is declared as a product that is feasible to use.

Aplicarea metodei descoperirii în studiul matematicii în liceu

The article deals with the problem of applying the discovery method in the study of mathematics at the high school level from the perspective of the formation of specific mathematics competences. An example of classroom teaching-learning is presented in the framework of studying the notion of permutations in high school, using the discovery method and the impact it had on students. It is concluded that the discovery method effectively contributes both to the formation of school competences and to increasing the interest of high school students in studying mathematics.

The Interest of High School Students in Study Programs in College

The purpose of this study was to determine the interest of students in high school in the study program at the university. This study uses a survey research approach. The research was conducted in Buton Regency. There were 292 participants taken from high school. Primary data was collected through questionnaires and secondary data was taken from the literature review. The data analysis technique used is the percentage technique and cross-tabulation. The results of the study found several majors that high school students were interested in if they wanted to continue their education in college. The majors are Information Technology, Accounting, Civil Engineering, Computers, Marine and Fisheries, Management, Development Economics, Forestry and Environment, Fisheries and Marine Affairs. The choice of majors reflects the choice of students according to the resources and needs of Buton Regency. Students know about job opportunities that have great opportunities to absorb labour. The results of the study also have implications for the understanding that universities wishing to develop and establish new study programs must be based on regional development needs
