An interactive and adaptive learning resource for teaching first-year human anatomy

Anatomy is a particularly challenging unit in many first-year university courses, however adaptive learning resources provide an opportunity to engage students in practical-based units such as anatomy. Here, the impact on student engagement, student learning and exam preparedness of implementing 21 interactive online adaptive lessons was evaluated. A total of 276 first-year students, enrolled in allied health undergraduate degrees from 2016 to 2020, consented to participate in this mixed methods study. Our findings suggest a positive correlation between the number of lessons a student completed and a positive performance in each of the three assessment items in the unit (p<0.05). We also identify an increase in students perceived understanding of anatomy after completing the lesson (p<0.0001). Students worldwide appreciate individualised, flexible and engaging nature of learning technologies. Here, we evidence that students appreciated online adaptive lessons to learn anatomy and exhibited a high level of satisfaction.

Utilizing the E-Book System in Supporting Students’ Literacy and Independent Learning

The development of the E-Book system in supporting learning literacy is very beneficial for students in the era of globalization. In today’s era of globalization, it has utilized the E-Book system in various schools in the learning system. The use of E-Books in learning has a positive impact on the present and the future. This study aims to understand the concept of utilizing the E-Book system in supporting students’ literacy and independent learning by utilizing the E-Book system in education and to find out the extent of the development of the E-Book system in education. So that teachers and students can use this E-Book system as a means of learning. The method used by the researcher in conducting this study is quantitative, with data obtained through disseminating questionnaires online using Google Forms. The word was processed using the SPSS application by statistical analysis through the ANOVA test; after completing the data test, the researcher presented the data in the form of graphs and tables containing respondents. The results of this study show that the introduction of an offline-based E-Book system will be able to support the literacy and independent learning of students in the world of education. Using the E-Book system in education brings various benefits, such as increasing student participation and supporting the understanding of complex concepts. Learning that utilizes the E-Book system has progressed compared to learning that still uses its own learning method, and cannot compete in the world of education. This study concludes that utilizing the E-Book system, especially independent learning, positively impacts education. The use of the E-Book system is expected to build interactive and effective learning resources. The use of the e-book system in education shows that it can improve the quality of learning and provide advantages in the educational process.

Improving the Reading Skills of Grade 5 Struggling Readers Through the Use of Interactive Learning Resources

Notably, the use of technology in teaching and reading instruction was found to have various effects on learners' attitudes towards engagement with the text and meaning-making. As a result, online sources as authentic materials can be an ideal resource for reading instruction. Given the context in which instruction is carried out in the new normal and the kind of intervention needed for the different learner groups where their reading skills is concerned, learning resources in interactive formats are optimized for maximum results. Specifically, the use of interactive learning resources such as the digital learning objects has become a valuable for teachers with regards to reading instruction. Its use in the different phases of instruction proved to be a valuable tool in addressing the reading difficulties of the elementary learners. Using the content-validated test as research instruments, results of the study showed how the Grade 5 struggling readers of Baquioen Elementary School benefitted from the use of interactive learning resources in reading instruction during the school year 2021-2022. Moreover, the results of the study reveal that there was significant difference in the levels of reading skills of the Grade 5 struggling readers after they were taught in English using digital learning objects. Thus, teachers are recommended to scaffold the reading instruction with the use of tools that target the best ways in which the students learn best.

ETHNOMATHEMATICS-BASED LEARNING DESIGN OF MOUNTAINOUS PAPUA TO INCREASE STUDENT ENGAGEMENT AND CREATE MEANINGFUL LEARNING

The application of ethnomathematics in teaching has many benefits. Cultural diversity can be an interactive learning resource for students. One culture that has high ethnomathematics potential is the Papuan Mountain culture. Although several examples of ethnomathematics have been found in Papuan culture, the design of ethnomathematics applications in learning is still very minimal. In addition, the lack of student involvement in the ethnomathematics exploration process is an important reason for the need to develop ethnomathematics-based learning based on 21st-century learning. The type of research is research development by using the nine stages of Dick and Carey’s development. The results of research and development concluded that the mountain ethnomathematics-based learning design was developed in 4 main stages, namely analysis, development design, implementation, and evaluation. Strategies that can be used in ethnomathematics-based learning in Papua Mountains to increase learner involvement and create meaningful learning are exploration, oriented to problem statements, constructing knowledge and experiences of learners based on their culture. The results of the analysis show that the ethnomathematics-based learning design of the culture of the Papua Mountains is good and feasible to implement with a validity index of 0.802 while the reliability index of rater agreement on the learning design is good, namely 0.896.

Tantangan dan Strategi Implementasi Mata Pelajaran PPKn di Era Digital

This study evaluates the challenges and strategies for implementing the subject of Pancasila and Civic Education (PPKn) in the digital era using a literature review method. The research findings identify several main obstacles, such as limited internet access, lack of digital devices, low digital skills among teachers and students, insufficient technical support, and a scarcity of quality digital resources. To address these challenges, several strategies are proposed, including the development of technological infrastructure, digital skills training for teachers and students, and the provision of engaging and interactive digital learning resources. With the implementation of these strategies, it is expected that PPKn education will become more effective and enhance student motivation and engagement. These findings have significant implications for the development of educational policies and teaching practices of PPKn in Indonesia in facing the challenges of the digital era.

Development of Interactive Poetry Writing Teaching Materials with Smart Themed Differentiated Learning Design in Class X SMA Brawijaya Smart School

Indonesian language and literature learning currently has many learning resources, but interactive learning resources that suit the needs of teachers and students are still rarely found. Existing learning resources are usually presented in full in textbooks. The learning material is presented in accordance with the basic competencies listed in the curriculum so that it looks less attractive to students. The aim of this research is to develop interactive poetry writing teaching materials with a SMART-themed differentiation learning design for class X SMA Brawijaya Smart School students. It is hoped that the development of teaching materials will help learning to write poetry. Development research steps include needs analysis, product development, conducting small group trials according to the setting in which the product is used, and revising the results of product trials. This research uses a development procedure adapted from the Borg & Gall development model which produces 7 steps, namely (1) information collection, (2) planning, (3) product draft development, (4) product validation, (5) feasibility testing, ( 6) product revision, and (7) final product. In this research, the data collection techniques used were through interview guides, validation sheets, and student questionnaires. The data analysis carried out involved descriptive analysis techniques, both qualitative and quantitative. The results of the development process have several main menus that can help students, such as homepage, introduction, learning objectives, materials, learning videos, and evaluation. Based on the results of the assessment, validation by content and language experts is included in the very appropriate/valid criteria, namely 97.2% and 95.8%. Likewise, the validation of learning and media design experts is included in the very feasible/valid criteria, namely 95.8% and 93.7%. The assessment of the student questionnaire also includes very appropriate/valid criteria, namely student characteristics of 81.3% and level of understanding of material regarding procedural texts of 83.7%. The results from the teacher questionnaire were assessed with very appropriate/valid criteria, namely the effectiveness and efficiency of teaching materials was 93.75%, the systematics of teaching materials was 87.5%, the language was 100%, and the appearance of teaching materials was 88.8%. The conclusion of this research is that the development of interactive poetry writing teaching materials with a SMART-themed differentiation learning design in class X SMA Brawijaya Smart School is very suitable/valid for use in the learning process. Suggestions for future research are to conduct in-depth trials on the effectiveness of web-based teaching material products with differentiated learning designs and disseminate web-based teaching material products with differentiated learning designs in schools that have the same characteristics.

Interactive Learning Resources for the Digital Age: A Needs Analysis of Digital Textbook Development

The purpose of this research is to analyze the need for developing digital textbooks as interactive learning aids in the digital era. A survey with a research instrument in the form of a questionnaire was utilized as the research method. The questionnaire was distributed to 40 class VII pupils. Data analysis techniques employ descriptive statistics to identify the primary needs of students, as well as the design and desired interactive elements in digital textbooks. According to the requirements analysis, digital textbooks must have practice questions and answer keys, video and audio, student activity sheets, and relevant pictures. Furthermore, digital textbooks are simple to use, with Indonesian, colorful, easy-to-understand content and easy-to-read font kinds and sizes. These findings will serve as the foundation for the creation of digital textbooks that will improve the efficacy of learning in the digital age. In the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, digital literacy becomes crucial in facing rapid technological changes. The digital literacy program at the "Istana Yatim Al-Jufri" Orphanage aims to enhance children's understanding and digital skills. Through training, interaction with parents, and the use of interactive learning resources, this program creates a safe learning environment in the digital age. Periodic evaluations are conducted to ensure the program's effectiveness, while collaboration with universities and communities helps enrich this initiative. This abstract also underscores the importance of digital literacy in addressing the negative impacts of the internet, such as the spread of hoaxes and unhealthy internet behavior. The community service activities organized by the Information Systems Study Program of the University of Batam and Universiti Teknologi Mara Cawangan Johor Malaysia aim to enhance the digital literacy of children and adolescents, focusing on wise and productive use of digital technology. In conclusion, the digital literacy program at the Orphanage has successfully increased understanding and community support for digital literacy, with recommendations to continue developing the program and increasing parental participation and digital access in the orphanage.

Designing, piloting and evaluating (through a matched pre- and post-implementation survey) a targeted e-learning resource on antimicrobial resistance for public health professionals.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a significant global public health threat and key priority for the public health, especially health protection, workforce to lead by example. There is a paucity of learning resources on this for public health professionals (PHPs) in the UK. This project aimed to develop and disseminate a tailored interactive learning resource and evaluate impact on self-reported intention to change behaviour. Learning objectives were agreed, content developed by the multi-disciplinary team and piloted by PHPs in 2022 alongside a matched pre- and post-implementation evaluation survey. Questions were mapped to the capability-opportunity-motivation-behaviour change model. Before and after responses were calculated to compare change in self-reported knowledge, understanding and behaviour. Significance of change in binary responses was estimated. The resource was delivered using an interactive, user-friendly and cost-free internal platform. Thirty-one PHPs completed the pilot e-learning and survey. Perceived and actual knowledge increased in parallel. Actual knowledge on AMR burden increased from 6.45 to 35.48% (P = 0.004). Self-reported confidence to explain AMR to others improved by 0.71 (95% CI; 0.38-1.04: P = 0.0001) Likert points on a five-point scale. Motivation to advocate for antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) in day-to-day work, improved by 0.71 (95% CI; 0.34-1.08: P < 0.00001) Likert points. Case scenarios were well-received as an effective way to apply theory to practice. Ensuring a well-informed and confident public health workforce is vital for reducing the AMR threat and advocating for AMS with the public and partner organizations. This targeted e-learning module is an effective additional learning medium in contributing to PHPs knowledge, understanding and self-reported intention to change behaviours.

DESCRIBING SCIENCE MOTIVATION AND ACHIEVEMENT OF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL SUBANEN LEARNERS USING COMPUTER-ASSISTED INSTRUCTION

This research delved into the impact of Computer-Assisted Instruction (CAI) on enhancing science education among Senior High School (SHS) Subanen learners. The incorporation of CAI revealed a significant surge in motivation (mean score of 4.80) and a noteworthy improvement in academic achievement (14% increase in Mean Percentage Score in post-tests) among SHS Subanen students. The study identified a substantial correlation between science motivation and academic achievement among senior high school Subanen learners utilizing CAI. Furthermore, a notable difference in the academic performance of SHS Subanen learners emerged between the pre-test and post-test results when employing CAI. According to SHS Subanen learners, the integration of CAI in their science classes rendered lessons more engaging and comprehensible, attributing this to the incorporation of images, videos, and other interactive learning resources. Despite the positive outcomes, SHS Subanen learners faced challenges during the integration of CAI, including power interruptions, an extensive curriculum, and headaches due to prolonged computer exposure. To overcome these difficulties, students employed strategies such as reviewing topics through computer browsing, approaching challenges with a love for learning, and incorporating relaxation techniques into their study routines.

Interactive Digital Storybook: ICT-Based Innovation in Learning the History of Islamic Culture

The main challenges in learning the history of Islamic culture include students' perceptions of being more enthusiastic, low student participation, limited teacher staff, and the need to use more ICT-based learning media. This research aims to make interactive digital storybooks a learning tool to deepen their understanding of the history of Islamic culture and create exciting and interactive learning resources that can increase student engagement and expand their knowledge about values, practices and essential events in Islamic culture. This type of research and development uses the ADDIE model (analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation), with the research subjects being teachers and students of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Swasta (MIS) Bhakti Mandiri Pematang Siantar, Medan, Indonesia. The results show that interactive digital storybooks significantly increase students' understanding and engagement in learning. However, it's worth being aware of some drawbacks, such as limited accessibility and potential technical issues. Nevertheless, interactive digital storybooks are still an adequate alternative in supporting students' learning about the history of Islamic culture. Limitations of this study include limited accessibility, potential technical problems and difficulties in navigating the interface in interactive digital storybooks. This research implies that interactive digital storybooks are an adequate alternative to support the learning of Islamic cultural history and have the potential to be improved by paying attention to factors such as suitability of content, pleasant design, and teacher involvement.

DEVELOPMENT OF ELECTRONIC LEARNING MEDIA PACAL RESERVIOR MATERIAL FOR PHASE F CLASS XI SMAN 1 BAURENO

Abstract:This study aims to develop effective and interactive learning materials for Pacal Reservoir content within Phase F, Class XI at SMAN 1 Baureno, employing the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) approach. Emphasizing the creation of interactive learning resources, the research endeavors to enhance students' comprehension of the technical and environmental aspects associated with the Pacal Reservoir. Methodologically, the research employs learning needs analysis, media design, development based on predetermined designs, implementation within the classroom setting, and evaluation of the efficacy of the developed learning materials. Notably, the active involvement of students and teachers in the development process plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the produced learning materials address identified needs and effectively enhance student engagement and comprehension of the Pacal Reservoir content. It is anticipated that the findings of this study will contribute to the enhancement of the quality of learning materials pertaining to the Pacal Reservoir at SMAN 1 Baureno, while also serving as a valuable reference for the development of similar learning resources across related fields of study. Supporting flexible learning paths with interactive learning resources in mathematics: lessons learned

ABSTRACT The COVID-19 pandemic caused some serious setbacks in primary and secondary education wordlwide. In 2021, the Estonian Ministry of Education and Research (MoER) contracted a group of researchers and expert teachers to design and validate of a set of innovative digital learning resources that support personalized learning paths to meet the needs of a diverse learners trying to work on their knowledge gaps caused by pandemic. This paper presents the results of designing a set of innovative open educational resources for 9th grade mathematics and piloting these in nine pilot schools. Based on the analysis of the results, we identified the main technological and pedagogical challenges in supporting flexible learning paths with interactive digital learning resources in post-COVID mathematics education.

Identifying Students' Interest in Inheritance of Traits and Breeding of Living Things to Support ESD

The genetic strategy, namely the inheritance of traits and breeding of living things, is a complex material at the secondary school level. The difficulty of understanding the material is due to the absence of discussion of this material at the elementary school level and the use of science terms that students rarely hear. This study aims to determine students' interest in the material inheritance of traits and reproduction of living things, methods and learning resources used, and students' ability to identify the material inheritance of traits and reproduction of living things using indicators of reading ability. The method used in this research is quantitative-qualitative to see junior high school students' interest and identification results. Researchers used data from statistical analysis and interviews with students. Data analysis was done by reducing, presenting, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that interactive and varied learning resources, methods, and models can influence students' interests and learning outcomes. Interactive learning models can improve student learning outcomes in the material of inheritance of traits and breeding of living things and help students understand the concept of sustainable development

Analysis of the Use of GPT Chat to Improve Student Performance

An AI-powered system that enables text-based conversational interactions, the Generative Pre-training Transformer (GPT). GPT has various functions, including language translation, providing recommendations, increasing productivity, and assisting in education. The benefits of using GPT in education include personalized learning, accessibility, interactive learning resources, and assistance with assignments and problem solving. However, there are limitations to using GPT Chat, such as its limited understanding, inability to replace creative work, and its tendency to provide inaccurate answers. Additionally, it cannot differentiate between fact and opinion, and requires a stable internet connection. While Chat GPT can be useful for instant data retrieval, summaries, and other research tasks, it should not be relied upon as a replacement for manual research processes. Continuing ongoing research and development is crucial to maximize the benefits of using Chat GPT while overcoming existing challenges.

Development of Mobile Learning Application System for Environmental Science Material (SARITHA-Apps)

The constraints posed by traditional learning tools for environmental science materials hinder the advancement of innovative and interactive learning resources, which are essential for enhancing the understanding of environmental science concepts. This research aims to develop a mobilelearning application for environmental science material to increase students’ interest in learning and cognitive abilities in environmental science material. This study uses a quantitative approach. The research population was students of the Biology Education Study Program, FKIP, Palangka Raya University, totaling 243 people. The sampling technique uses purportive sampling. The target sample is students who are taking environmental knowledge courses. The sample size was 24 people. The research approach uses the Hannafin &amp; Peck model by identifying and designing mobile-learning media along with environmental science material content, testing its performance on respondents, and analyzing learners’ cognitive skills and respondents’ learning interests. Data collection was carried out using product reflection questionnaires by a team of experts, pre-test and post-test instruments, and reflection questionnaires by users. The results show that: (1) a mobile learning application for environmental sciences materials has been produced, namely the SARITHA-Apps (abbreviation of Sistem Aplikasi Mobile LeaRning Materi Ilmu PengeTaHuan LingkungAn) as one of the materials in biology education in schools; (2) the average result of the expert team’s assessment on the product feasibility is 91%, which means the qualification is “Very Eligible”; (3) the SARITHA-Apps can improve learning cognitive skills of the respondents with an N-Gain of 0.4 or the “Moderate” category and ; (4) based on the survey, 73% of total respondents agreed (or in “Strong” qualification) that the SARITHA-Apps has a strong impact on the increasing their scientific interests for better understanding on environmental sciences subject.

The rapid evolution of technology calls for innovations in nursing education and continuing professional development (NCPD) that are crucial for maintaining high-quality health-care delivery. As lifelong learners, nurses require effective and motivational educational resources that support their ongoing growth and enable them to adapt to changing health-care landscapes. Generative AI models such as OpenAI and Advanced language models such as ChatGPT present opportunities to enhance learning experiences and support knowledge acquisition. This article explores the potential of incorporating both generative AI and advanced language models in NCPD programs, focusing on design strategies, implementation, and possible challenges. By leveraging these innovations, nursing professionals can access personalized, on-demand, and interactive learning resources, advancing their professional growth and improving patient outcomes.

Faculty development for strengthening online teaching capability: a mixed-methods study of what staff want, evaluated with Kirkpatrick's model of teaching effectiveness.

Globally, tertiary teachers are increasingly being pushed and pulled into online teaching. While most developments in online education have focused on the student perspective, few studies have reported faculty development (FD) initiatives for increasing online teaching capability and confidence from a staff perspective. We designed and evaluated FD workshops, using five datasets, and the use of H5P software for interactive online teaching. We used educational theory to design our FD (Mayer multimedia principles, active learning) and evaluated our FD initiatives using the Best Evidence Medical Education (BEME) 2006 modified Kirkpatrick levels. Teaching staff reported that Communities of Practice were important for their learning and emotional support. Uptake and deployment of FD skills depended on the interactivity of FD sessions, their timeliness, and sufficient time allocated to attend and implement. Staff who applied FD learning to their online teaching created interactive learning resources. This content was associated with an increase in student grades, and the roll-out of an institutional site-wide H5P license. This paper demonstrates an effective strategy for upskilling and upscaling faculty development. The use of H5P as a teaching tool enhances student learning. For successful FD, we make four recommendations. These are: provide just-in-time learning and allocate time for FD and staff to create online teaching material; foster supportive communities; offer personalized support; and design hands on active learning.

Provision of E-Modules on Adolescent Mental Health Understanding

&#x0D; &#x0D; &#x0D; &#x0D; Mental health frequently receives inadequate attention and is often disregarded by individuals who tend to prioritize physical health over mental well-being. The occurrence of mental disorders in adolescents (aged 15-24 years) is associated with a depression rate of 6.2%. Severe depression tends to lead to self-harm and suicide. Approximately 80-90% of suicide cases can be attributed to depression and anxiety.&#x0D; A comprehensive understanding of adolescent mental health is essential for determining appropriate actions to make adolescents aware that mental health is equally essential. Preventing mental health issues in adolescents is crucial for avoiding further mental disorders or psychological problems. Prevention can be effectively achieved through health education for adolescents, enabling them to comprehend the significance of their mental health.&#x0D; E-modules provide an ideal medium for reaching adolescents, as they adapt conventional modules by incorporating information technology, making them more engaging and interactive. This enhances their appeal as an engaging and interactive learning resource. Digital modules (e-modules) enriched with audiovisual technology are expected to apprehend students' interests and create a conducive learning environment.&#x0D; The research objective was to investigate the effect of E-modules on adolescents' understanding of mental health. The study adopted a quantitative approach, using a quasi-experimental research design with a pre-posttest without control, conducted through intervention with a single group. The study was conducted at SMP 8 Surakarta and data were collected before and after the intervention. Data analysis employed the Wilcoxon test was used to obtain a significant result with a p-value of 0.01 (p &lt; 0.05).
