Multilingual Speech Transcription and Translation System

This project implements a multilingual speech recognition and translation system using Python. The system leverages libraries such as `pygame` for audio playback, `gTTS` for text-to-speech conversion, `speech_recognition` for capturing and recognizing spoken language, and Machine Translation model for translating text between languages. Users interact with the system via a Streamlit-based web interface, where they can select the input and target languages and control the start and stop of the translation process. The program can auto-detect the input language if the user chooses, and it provides real-time feedback by displaying the recognized text, translating it into the chosen target language, and converting the translated text into speech. At the core of the system is a continuous loop that listens for speech input through the microphone, processes the audio to recognize the spoken words, and then translates the recognized text into the desired language. The translated text is not only displayed but also spoken aloud using the text-to-speech functionality. The interface is user-friendly, with clear indications of the current status (listening, processing, recognized text, translated text) and handles errors gracefully, providing feedback in case of issues. This project demonstrates a practical application of speech recognition and translation technologies, offering a seamless and interactive multilingual communication tool

English Language, An Interactive Communication Tool Among Tourism Sector Employees and Foreign Tourists

Tourism is a very important sector in Albania's economy. With the promotion of tourist attractions, the number of foreign tourists has increased significantly. Language is of great importance for the communication of foreign tourists to tourist destinations. Today English is an international language and most tourist businesses require employees to speak English except the local language of the country. In this paper we will present a theoretical discussion on the importance and necessity of the English language in the development of the tourism sector from the point of view of tourist services providers and specifically hotel businesses. To fulfill the purpose of this search, the data collection was done by a self-administered questioner with closed thematic questions, with alternatives addressed to the service employees in tourism destinations in Durres, Shëngjin and Sarandë. The overall data collection of 250 questionnaires and total of 195 questionnaires were collected. Through descriptive analysis we have taken a picture of the characteristics of the monster in study according to the data of the structured questionnaire, respectively: Part 1 (socio-demographic characteristics), Part 2 (business stuff), (location and classification), Part 3 (language knowledge and opinion on its importance for employment in tourist businesses in Albania. The data was collected in January 2023. The article aims to highlight not only the most necessary language skills for tourism sector employees but also highlight the functions of English language use by employees of this sector, the most common problems they encounter in different skills, etc. The investigation and identification of such necessities puts the help of not only the employees of this sector but also the entrepreneurs of various tourist structures who can directly contribute to the improvement of their human resources employed as the motorcycle that sets in motion and guarantees financial income to their businesses thanks to professionalism

The Transformative Role of Digital Resources in Teaching and Learning

This study examines the evolving terrain of Digital Resources (DR) by investigating its influence on teaching methodologies and student achievement and exploring the diverse aspects of integrating these resources to improve teaching methods and establish more efficient learning settings. The study focuses on diverse DR, such as Learning Management Systems (LMS); interactive software, online platforms, and Collaboration and Communication Tools; including multimedia content used to produce Educational Software and Applications, and evaluates their influence on engagement, accessibility, and overall student success. These examples of digital resources represent the diverse array of digital tools that contribute to the transformation of teaching and learning in various educational settings. This list is not exhaustive, as the field of digital resources is continually evolving with the advancement of technology. The impact of these tools extends to areas such as accessibility, personalized learning, and the enhancement of both in-person and online education. Examining the integration of adaptive learning platforms seeks to understand how technology adapts to individual learning needs, providing tailored support to students and promoting a deeper understanding of educational content. Furthermore, the study explores the global connectivity and collaboration facilitated by DR, investigating the impact of virtual classrooms, video conferencing, and collaborative platforms on students' ability to connect with their peers and educators worldwide. It seeks to identify how this interconnectedness contributes to cultural awareness, diverse perspectives, and the development of global competencies. It also addresses challenges related to digital literacy, ethical use, and equitable access as it unfolds. The research aims to provide insights that inform best practices for educators, policymakers, and stakeholders in the ongoing endeavour to optimise integrating DR into teaching and learning. Ultimately, this research aspires to contribute valuable knowledge supporting education's evolution in the digital age. The researcher explores the transformative role of DR in education, examining how these tools contribute to a more dynamic and inclusive learning environment.

Perceived instructor presence, interactive tools, student engagement, and satisfaction in hybrid education post-COVID-19 lockdown in Mexico

Interactive communication platforms have been widely used to support online teaching. However, during the Coronavirus Diseases 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic they gained unprecedented relevance since they allowed educational processes to continue. This study investigated the relationship among interactive communication technology tools, perceived instructor presence, student satisfaction and engagement in hybrid courses post-COVID-19 lockdown. An electronic questionnaire was administered to 1086 students from a public university in Mexico that implemented a hybrid class model using Microsoft Teams after the lockdown. Jamovi and WarpPLS were used to perform confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling. The findings revealed that interactive technological communication tools positively impact the instructor's perceived presence, student satisfaction and engagement. Similarly, commitment significantly positively impacted student satisfaction. The model demonstrated a good fit. The findings were consistent with studies before and during the lockdown. The instructor's perceived presence promotes student engagement and satisfaction, and Microsoft Teams effectively facilitates this presence. These findings suggest that interactive communication tools are and will be significant in educational contexts and modalities. This study provides useful insights for educators, course designers and educational administrators, emphasizing effective communication with students and implementing interactive technological communication tools to enhance hybrid learning in the post-pandemic era.

The article explores the topic of the effectiveness of using interactive communication tools and CRM systems in the modern digital marketing environment. The analysis is based on examining current trends in digital marketing and defining the role of various interactive tools in engaging with the audience. The article investigates the impact of different interactive tools such as social media, webinars, online surveys, messengers, on creating effective communication and engaging the target audience. Concurrent Hospice and Dialysis Care: Considerations for Implementation.

Hospice positively impacts care at the end of life for patients and their families. However, compared to the general Medicare population, patients on dialysis are half as likely to receive hospice. Concurrent hospice and dialysis care offers an opportunity to improve care for people living with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD). We sought to (1) develop a conceptual model of the Program and (2) identify key components, resources, and considerations for further implementation. We conducted a template analysis of qualitative interviews and convened a community advisory panel (CAP) to get feedback on current concurrent care design and considerations for dissemination and implementation. Thirty-nine patients with late-stage chronic kidney disease (CKD), family caregivers, bereaved family caregivers, hospice clinicians, nephrology clinicians, administrators, and policy experts participated in interviews. A purposive subset of 19 interviewees composed the CAP. Qualitative feedback on concurrent care design refinements, implementation, and resources. Participants identified four themes that define an effective model of concurrent hospice and dialysis: it requires (1) timely goals-of-care conversations and (2) an interdisciplinary approach; (3) clear guidelines ensure smooth transitions for patients and families; and (4) hospice payment policy must support concurrent care. CAP participants provided feedback on the phases of an effective model of concurrent hospice and dialysis, and resources, including written and interactive educational materials, communication tools, workflow processes, and order sets. We developed a conceptual model for concurrent hospice and dialysis care and a corresponding resource list. In addition to policy changes, clinical implementation and educational resources can facilitate scalable and equitable dissemination of concurrent care. Concurrent hospice and dialysis care must be systematically evaluated via a hybrid implementation-effectiveness trial that includes the resources outlined herein, based on our conceptual model of concurrent care delivery.

Defining the content of a website on advance care planning in dementia: a focus group study with family and health professionals

BackgroundAdvance care planning (ACP) is a process that enables individuals to define goals and preferences for their future care. It is particularly relevant for people with dementia and their family. Interactive tools, such as websites, that encourage reflection, communication and/or documentation, may support this group in the ACP process. However, considering the specific needs of people with dementia, it is important to develop adapted tools for this population. This study was conducted to define the content of an interactive website for people with dementia and their family caregivers to support them in ACP and to assess the barriers and facilitators for potential users in finding and using such a website from the perspective of family caregivers and healthcare professionals.MethodsOnline focus groups with family caregivers (serving both as potential users and proxies for people with dementia) and healthcare professionals caring for people with dementia, using a semi-structured topic guide. To analyse the data, we used thematic framework analysis with a combination of deductive and inductive approaches to coding.ResultsWe conducted 4 focus groups with family caregivers of people with dementia (n = 18) and 3 with healthcare professionals (n = 17). Regarding the content of the website, participants highlighted that information on ACP (what and why) and guidance on how to start talking about ACP throughout the dementia trajectory should be included on the website. To increase the usability of the website, most participants considered a text-to-speech and a print option as important functionalities. A lack of computer literacy was found to be the most significant barrier to finding and using the website.ConclusionA website for people with dementia and their family caregivers to support them in ACP should focus on comprehensive content on ACP, peer testimonials, and interactive communication tools. Moreover, there should be certain flexibility in navigating through the website so people with dementia and their family caregivers can use it at their own pace. As the next step, we will include people with dementia in developing the website.

Characterizing Pharmacist Perspectives on Utilizing a Personalized Family Medication Safety Plan for Opioid Education with Adolescents and Parents.

Exposure to prescription opioids during adolescence is associated with an increased risk of future opioid misuse. The pervasive and growing impact of the opioid epidemic requires evidence-based, co-designed interventions targeted at adolescents. MedSMA℞T Families is an intervention tailored to educate adolescents and their families about opioid misuse prevention and consists of two parts: the MedSMA℞T: Adventures in PharmaCity videogame and the family medication safety plan (FMSP). This study sought to explore pharmacists' perceptions of using the family medication safety plan to facilitate opioid education among parents and their adolescents. The purpose of this project was to also gather information for iterative adaptations to improve implementation and dissemination of the FMSP in pharmacy settings. Pharmacists were recruited from Pharmacy Practice Enhancement and Action Research Link (PearlRx) and the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin (PSW). Twenty-one pharmacist interviews were conducted between September 2021 and March 2022. Consenting pharmacists reviewed the FMSP. Then, semi-structured interviews were conducted, recorded, and transcribed. Inductive thematic analyses were performed using NVivo software. Four prevalent themes emerged: (1) the purpose of FMSP as a communication tool, (2) instructions to clarify how to use FMSP, (3) barriers to using FMSP, and (4) suggestions to improve FMSP format. Most pharmacists described the FMSP as a tool to encourage interactive opioid conversations between adolescents, families, and pharmacists. Pharmacists suggested creating multiple customizable formats and incorporating instructions on how to use the FMSP. Pharmacists noted that the FMSP was an interactive and engaging communication tool to tailor opioid consultations with adolescents and their families. Patients might use the FMSP as a visual cue to help think of what question(s) they should ask pharmacists. Pharmacists stated that the FMSP could facilitate tailored opioid safety communication and medication consultations. Insights will inform future medication misuse prevention interventions as well as adaptation.

Are shifting communication styles crumbling old silos?

Clear communication is essential to provide high-quality health care. The medical environment is changing. Older physicians and nurses are retiring being replaced with younger professionals who are not as concerned with gender roles and who appreciate technical communication. Along with the changing setting is the introduction of communication frameworks that are more comprehensive and consider both verbal and nonverbal modems of communication. This article provides an anecdotal event evaluated by the Hannawa ‘SACCIA Safe Communication” framework but also considers the changing medical landscape which may be helping to dissolve miscommunication silos. The fast-paced, fluid medical environment calls for a more robust, interactive communication tool. Healthcare providers would benefit from education on the entire communicative process needed for successful communication.

Can motivational interviewing help prevent dental caries in secondary school children?

Design This study was a randomised controlled trial (RCT) designed to evaluate the effectiveness of three school-based interventions to improve the oral health behaviours of adolescents and prevent dental caries. Participants were assigned to one of three groups: Group I - oral health education (which was considered as usual care); Group II - motivational interviewing (MI); and Group III - MI aided by the interactive patient communication tool, the Cariogram. Cluster randomisation was applied and schools were stratified by district. The interventions were delivered at school by trained hygienists. The main outcome measures were psychological (self-efficacy) and behavioural measures about snacking and toothbrushing with clinical measures of plaque and caries.Case selection Participants were selected from 15 secondary schools located in three main districts in Hong Kong in 2015-16. Inclusion criteria were: full-time students enrolled in participating schools; 12 or 13 years old; and having unfavourable oral health behaviour, defined as 'toothbrushing less often than twice a day' and/or 'snacking three times or more a day'. Eligible participants were identified through a screening questionnaire.Results In total, 512 participants were recruited (161, 162 and 188 in Groups I-III, respectively) and of those, 460 (89.9%) were followed-up 24 months post intervention. When compared with Group I, restriction of frequent snacking was more likely in Group II (odds ratio [OR] [95% confidence interval (CI)]: 3.91 [1.48-10.33]) and Group III (OR [95% CI]: 6.33 [2.46-16.27]). Participants in Group III had a higher likelihood to start performing adequate toothbrushing (OR [95% CI]: 4.80 [1.79-12.85]). No significant reduction in plaque score reduction was found among the three groups (p >0.05). Groups II and III developed fewer teeth with caries into dentine (β [95% CI]: -0.19 [-0.37, -0.01] and -0.20 [-0.38, -0.02], respectively), whereas the increment of total carious lesions (enamel and dentine) was lower in Group III (β [95% CI]: -0.63 [-1.24, -0.02]).Conclusions The findings of this RCT suggest school-based MI interventions were more effective than traditional oral health education in improving adolescents' oral health self-efficacy, behaviours and preventing dental caries. The authors suggest the benefits of this intervention may potentially extend beyond caries prevention to other oral and systemic diseases.

Development and efficient use of a marketing communications mix

Aim. Based on an analysis of current trends in the development of the marketing communications mix, the presented study aims to determine the prerequisites for its efficient use by organizations for maximum impact on the consumer.Tasks. The authors identify trends in the development of the marketing communications mix; consider an algorithm for the formation of the marketing communications mix in an organization; substantiate the prerequisites for its efficient implementation in an organization.Methods. This study uses general scientific methods of cognition to investigate trends in the development of the marketing communications mix at the present stage, as well as the algorithm and prerequisites for the formation and implementation of the marketing communications mix.Results. According to the results of the study, the following trends in the development of the marketing communications mix can be identified: promotion of Internet communications following the growth of online commerce and mobile commerce, strengthening of customer centricity and development of interactive communication tools, expansion of direct producer consumer communications due to some manufacturers departing from resellers when selling goods, development of omnichannel sales, synchronization of different marketing promotion channels, etc.Conclusion. The study reveals that the prerequisites for an efficient marketing communications mix include a systemic communicative impact on the consumer, formation of a marketing communications mix based on consumer knowledge and continuous testing of the communication campaign, further development and application of modern tools for interaction with the consumer, creation of personalized, relevant, and interactive content based on a marketing strategy and a competent content plan.

SOCIAL MEDIA USE AND ITS EFFECTS ON STUDENTS’ BEHAVIOR IN THE SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN MACHAKOS SUB- COUNTY, MACHAKOS COUNTY, KENYA

Social media is one of the most used interactive communication tools in the current world. Almost every person above the age of ten years is operating an account of any social media platform. The study was guided by two objectives; to examine prevalence of social media use among secondary students and, to determine behavior displayed by the students as a result of social media use. The study was anchored on the social learning theory. A mixed-method research design was adopted. Purposive sampling was used to select 15 teacher counselors, while 392 students were selected using a simple random sampling. The study found that 97.4% of the secondary school students in Machakos Sub- County were regular social media users. The students preferred using WhatsApp, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook. The study also found that social media use inculcated both positive (60% ) and negative (40%) behaviors respectively. The study thus concluded a high prevalence of social media use among secondary school students in Machakos Sub-County. Based on these findings, the study recommends that school administrators should come up with stringent strategies to control the use of social media among secondary school students and, the Ministry of Education should develop policies for curbing the use and challenges associated with social media by secondary school students.

Experiences of Children With Osteogenesis Imperfecta in the Co-design of the Interactive Assessment and Communication Tool Sisom OI: Secondary Analysis of Qualitative Design Sessions.

BackgroundChildren with osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) experience a diversity of symptoms that expose them to difficult physical, mental, and social challenges. Sisom (DHealth) is an interactive assessment and communication tool designed to help children aged 6-12 years with chronic conditions express their symptoms. Recently, the co-design of the Sisom OI paper prototype was launched by seeking the perspectives of end users, including children with OI and their clinicians.ObjectiveThe aim of this study is to describe the experiences that children with OI were prompted to share with researchers during the co-design of the Sisom OI paper prototype.MethodsA secondary analysis of qualitative data was conducted at a university-affiliated, pediatric, orthopedic hospital. The data sources consisted of interview transcripts, drawings, field notes, and observations derived from interviewing 12 children with OI who participated in the co-design of the Sisom OI paper prototype. The themes and subthemes identified from the data sources were generated using qualitative description.ResultsThree themes were identified. The first, Relating to Others, described the balance between feeling different versus feeling similar to other children. The subthemes were Common OI Experience, Feeling Different, and Feeling Just Like Others. The second, Relating to Their Condition, described children’s positive and negative interactions with their own condition and health care. The subthemes were Understanding Their Condition, Special Relationship with the Hospital, and Difficult Treatments and Procedures. The third, Reflecting on Capabilities, described children’s recognition of their strengths and limitations. The subthemes were Perceiving Limitations, Overcoming Isolation, and Celebrating Strengths.ConclusionsThis co-design process provided children with OI the space to not only contribute to the development of the end product but also eloquently describe their experiences. These findings, based on the descriptions given by the children themselves, offer us a unique understanding of what it means to grow up with OI.

Design and Redesign of the IACTA App, an Interactive Communication Tool Intended to Facilitate Young Children's Participation in Healthcare Situations

PurposeTo develop the storyboard of IACTA further, based on the child’'s perspective, by testing and evaluating both re-designed and newly designed scenes. Design and methodA participatory design was used involving preschool children (n = 18) aged three to five who tested and evaluated evolving prototypes of the IACTA application. Think aloud and Active intervention were used to elicit verbal responses from the children. Additionally, observational protocols were used to capture, in a structured way, the children's interaction with the app. ResultsBy testing evolving prototypes, the children confirmed previous developments and challenged the newly added scenes of the app. By their interaction, important information regarding the children's ways of navigating the storyboard was obtained. Ways of becoming immersed in the storyboard and the eagerness of dealing with each scene provided information regarding likeability. ConclusionsOverall, this article presents a participatory design process in which preschool aged children were involved in testing and evaluating prototypes of the re-designed IACTA app. In the process, the children provided their perspective on the design and content and eventually, based on their feedback, IACTA was proven to be an age-appropriate tool. Practical implicationsChildren are frequent visitors to healthcare services. Lack of knowledge might trigger fear and anxiety, whereas information provides understanding. Interactive, mobile solutions enable children to receive information within paediatric healthcare contexts. The IACTA application intends to provide children a situated understanding that facilitates their participation in healthcare situations.

Instructor presence, interactive tools, student engagement, and satisfaction in online education during the COVID-19 Mexican lockdown

ABSTRACT This paper aims to present empirical evidence that supports and quantifies the relationships among the following features in a Mexican university: interactive collaboration software tools used in online classes, the perceived presence of instructors, student engagement, and student satisfaction with online classes during the COVID-19 lockdown. We collected data from 1417 participants from five different academic programs using a survey method. Data were analyzed using SPSS v25 and WarpPLS. Findings show that the interactive communication tool has a positive impact on perceived instructor presence, which also positively impacts student engagement and satisfaction. These relationships were also found to be true after analyzing each academic program. Therefore, both the interactive communication tool and the instructor play important roles in the online learning process because they positively influence student engagement and satisfaction. Our results are consistent with previous work conducted before the pandemic and contribute to understanding the teaching and learning process during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Clinical application of patient-specific 3D printing brain tumor model production system for neurosurgery

The usefulness of 3-dimensional (3D)-printed disease models has been recognized in various medical fields. This study aims to introduce a production platform for patient-specific 3D-printed brain tumor model in clinical practice and evaluate its effectiveness. A full-cycle platform was created for the clinical application of a 3D-printed brain tumor model (3D-printed model) production system. Essential elements included automated segmentation software, cloud-based interactive communication tools, customized brain models with exquisite expression of brain anatomy in transparent material, adjunctive devices for surgical simulation, and swift process cycles to meet practical needs. A simulated clinical usefulness validation was conducted in which neurosurgeons assessed the usefulness of the 3D-printed models in 10 cases. We successfully produced clinically applicable patient-specific models within 4 days using the established platform. The simulated clinical usefulness validation results revealed the significant superiority of the 3D-printed models in surgical planning regarding surgical posture (p = 0.0147) and craniotomy design (p = 0.0072) compared to conventional magnetic resonance images. The benefit was more noticeable for neurosurgeons with less experience. We established a 3D-printed brain tumor model production system that is ready to use in daily clinical practice for neurosurgery.

Giving Children With Osteogenesis Imperfecta a Voice: Participatory Approach for the Development of the Interactive Assessment and Communication Tool Sisom OI

BackgroundChildren with osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) experience acute and chronic symptoms that expose them to physical, mental, and social challenges. Empowering these children by involving them in their care can help them to cope with OI. Sisom is an interactive assessment and communication tool designed to help children aged 6-12 years with chronic illnesses express their symptoms. This tool has not yet been adapted to the unique needs of OI.ObjectiveThe aim of this study was to develop a Sisom OI paper prototype by seeking the perspectives of end users.MethodsA participatory approach was adopted to develop the prototype overseen by an expert panel of 9 clinicians at a university-affiliated pediatric hospital. Purposive sampling was used to recruit 12 children with OI who were aged 6-12 years. The study was carried out over the course of 3 feedback cycles. Data were deductively interpreted using content analysis techniques.ResultsOverall, 64% (57/89) of the Sisom symptoms were deemed relevant for inclusion in Sisom OI, with 42% (37/89) directly incorporated and 22% (20/89) incorporated with changes. In total, 114 symptoms were used to create the prototype, of which 57 were newly generated. The relevant symptoms addressed children’s thoughts and feelings about hospitalization and their wishes for participation in their own care. The new symptoms addressed fractures, body image, and social isolation related to difficulties with accessibility and intimidation.ConclusionsOnce developed, Sisom OI will offer clinicians an innovative and child-centered approach to capture children’s perspectives on their condition.

Comparing Facebook as an interactive communication tool for companies in LatAm and worldwide

Social networks have changed the communication rules between companies and their stakeholders. Facebook became an important tool of communication strategies to promote interaction and dialogue. The objective of this study is to analyze how companies in LatAm and worldwide are managing the interaction with their stakeholders on Facebook. For this paper, 159 corporate profiles and 32,760 posts were analyzed through the methodology of content analysis. The categories selected were communication approach, communication resources, interaction level, and interaction rate. Results illustrate that the communication of companies in LatAm and worldwide mainly involves an informative approach on Facebook. The content disseminated by companies is not promoting interaction with the stakeholders. In contrast, companies are managed in a unidirectional way, meaning that it is not managed to establish and strengthen relationships, but rather to get visibility.

Exploring the Roles of Social Presence and Gender Difference in Online Learning

ABSTRACTOnline learning has become more popular in higher education with its advantages of flexibility and accessibility. However, there have been challenges to students’ learning experience in online learning. One critical challenge would be providing interactions between students and instructors as good or effective as in the face‐to‐face environment. However, providing face‐to‐face interactions in online learning is not feasible because students and instructors are not physically present together. In this study, we introduce and empirically investigate social presence as student learning experience in online learning in which physical presence does not exist. Drawing upon the social presence and online learning literature, we propose a research model to explore how the interactivity of communication tools can drive social presence and student satisfaction in online learning. Furthermore, this study examines gender difference as a moderator in the model. Data were collected from undergraduate students who were taking online business statistics courses where an interactive communication tool was required to use for class communication and collaboration. The results showed that social presence driven by tool interactivity had a significant impact on student satisfaction in online learning. We also found that gender difference moderated the relationship between tool interactivity and social presence in online learning.
