Older Migrant Patients and Health Care Professionals' Experiences With Digital Translation Tools in Care Interactions: A Qualitative Literature Review.

Finding solutions to communicate difficulties in care interactions between health care professionals and older migrant patients may be facilitated by the use of digital translation tools. The aim was to explore older migrant patients' and health professionals' experiences using digital translation tools in transcultural care. A systematic qualitative literature review, based on nine quality assessed articles published 2009 to 2024 from five databases, and analyzed using thematic analysis. Three themes and eight subthemes emerged: advantages of using translation tools describes the benefits experienced using such tools; limitations and challenges highlights the problems identified in their use; and improvement suggestions for the functions of the translation apps describes adjustments and developments of the translation tools. Digital translation used in basic care, may enhance relationships and equity of care, but should not substitute human interpreters in complex care conversations. Translation tools need to be developed according to older users' abilities.

Coinfection of pulmonary lophomoniasis, tuberculosis, and hydatid cyst in a pediatric autism patient: a case report and literature review

IntroductionAutism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition marked by difficulties in social interaction, communication, and repetitive behaviors or restricted interests. Although research on the link between ASD and parasitic diseases is limited, immune deficiency and inflammation may contribute to the development of parasitic infections.Case reportWe admitted a 14-year-old boy to the hospital who had a known history of ASD because he was presenting with respiratory symptoms, including cough and hemoptysis. During his time in the hospital, after conducting a series of tests and evaluations, we made a critical diagnosis of co-infection of lophomonas, tuberculosis, and hydatid cyst. In response to this diagnosis, we initiated a treatment plan that involved administering appropriate antibiotics as well as preparing for surgical intervention.ConclusionThis case report highlights the complexities and challenges of managing such a rare combination of co-infections with TB, pulmonary hydatid disease and lophomonas in a pediatric patient with underlying developmental considerations such as ASD.

Autism Spectrum Disorder in Children: Early Signs and Therapeutic Interventions

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a complex neurodevelopmental condition characterized by challenges in communication, social interaction difficulties, and repetitive behaviors that can hinder a child’s development. The growing prevalence of autism necessitates early detection and effective intervention strategies. This review summarizes the current knowledge of early indicators of ASD, including brain development markers and behavioral signs visible in infants. It investigates diagnostic processes, emphasizing the importance of timely detection at 18 to 24 months using established screening tools. We discuss a variety of therapeutic approaches, including behavioral interventions, educational strategies such as music therapy, and technological advancements such as speech-generating devices. Furthermore, we investigate pharmacological options for treating associated symptoms, emphasizing the lack of targeted medications for core ASD symptoms. Finally, we present evidence highlighting the positive effects of early intervention on developmental outcomes, advocating for individualized treatment plans to enhance the well-being of children with ASD. This comprehensive overview aims to inform ongoing ASD research and clinical practices.

Ensino remoto emergencial e saúde mental: desafios enfrentados por docentes universitários durante a Pandemia de Covid-19

This article aimed to investigate the impacts of emergency remote teaching on the mental health of university teachers in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. An exploratory research was carried out through individual interviews guided by a script. Based on Bardin's content analysis, we sought to investigate the impacts of emergency remote teaching on mental health related to teaching practice, work and social context. In the discussions, we found that the following impacts were generated: the feeling of not being able to teach, difficulties in technological adaptation and little interaction with students, work overload, social isolation. And as consequences of these impacts, symptoms such as insecurity, fear, abandonment, lack of passion for work, demotivation, fear of the unknown, feeling of isolation, frustration and anguish, stress, feeling of anger, panic attack, depression, contamination of leisure time through the loss of the distinction between working hours and leisure time, decrease in physical activity, increase in alcohol consumption and also increase in family conflicts. The findings are in line with other studies and contribute to the discussion of the importance of considering psychosocial impacts in the processes of implementing new forms of teaching.

Obstáculos para o diagnóstico e tratamento do transtorno do espectro autista

Objective: To understand the obstacles that reduce accessibility to the diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Literature review: ASD is a disorder characterized by difficulties in social interaction, impairments in communication and restricted patterns of behavior. Its diagnosis is clinical, based on behavioral observations and the patient's history and on criteria defined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM – 5). Treatment includes pharmacological and behavioral approaches. However, the difficulties and challenges found in the literature include the symptomatological heterogeneity of ASD, the need for training health professionals and a more accurate assessment through a multidisciplinary team. Late diagnosis or its absence can lead to unfavorable outcomes in adult life, such as: anxiety, depression, and difficulty in interpersonal relationships. Recent studies include the use of specific biomarkers and innovative therapies that are not yet accessible. Final considerations: Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment are ideal for improving the quality of life of individuals with ASD. The importance of the doctor and new studies to improve therapeutic choice in ASD is also highlighted.

The diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder presents some challenges and singularities, the limitations in its development entail a series of demands and significant changes in the family's routine and child care. The objective of this article is to understand the difficulties and experiences faced by mothers with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The expected results will be significant in highlighting the challenges faced by mothers of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), including the emotional impact of the diagnosis, the need to access specialized resources, the burden of care and difficulties in social interaction. Based on the studies analyzed, we hoped to understand this complex and significant issue faced by mothers of children with ASD in the care process. Research will play a relevant role in the development of policies and support programs that can protect the feminine essence and promote quality of life for families in society.

Psychometric evaluation of the Swedish version of ages and stages questionnaire social-emotional: second edition for parents of children 18 months of age

BackgroundSocial and emotional development are important aspects of young children’s well-being but can be difficult to assess during the first years of life. The Ages and Stages Questionnaire: Social-Emotional Second Edition (ASQ:SE-2) is a parent-rated assessment tool for child socioemotional development between 1 and 72 months of age. In this study, we examined the psychometric properties of this instrument in 18-month-old Swedish children.MethodsData from 586 Swedish-speaking parents of 18-month-old children were included. In addition to the ASQ:SE-2, parents also completed the Social-Emotional Assessment/Evaluation Measure (SEAM), and the child’s socioemotional development was assessed by a nurse at the Child Health Services. We used exploratory factor analysis and Rasch methodology to explore dimensionality and item properties of the ASQ:SE-2. Furthermore, we used Pearson and Spearman rank correlations to study associations with the SEAM and the nurse assessment.ResultsAn exploratory factor analysis suggested a one-factor model for the ASQ:SE-2 items. However, several items showed weak factor loadings, and a final scale including 18 of the original 29 items was further explored. The Rasch analysis revealed problems with targeting, and the final scale showed acceptable reliability only in the 22% with the highest levels of socioemotional difficulties. The total score of the final version showed a strong association with the parent-rated SEAM but a weak association with the nurse observations. We labeled the reduced 18-item scale Social Interaction.ConclusionsThe results of this study highlight that the original Swedish version of the ASQ:SE-2 for 18-month-old children may not be an adequate tool for assessing social and emotional competencies in a normal population since acceptable reliability was reached only in children with the greatest difficulties (above the 78th percentile). In conclusion, the suggested 18-item version works best either as a screening instrument for problems with social interaction or as a continuous measure of such problems in children with high levels of social interaction difficulties.

Neural Mechanisms of Social Interaction Perception: Observing Interpersonal Synchrony Modulates Action Observation Network Activation and Is Spared in Autism.

How the temporal dynamics of social interactions are perceived arguably plays an important role in how one engages in social interactions and how difficulties in establishing smooth social interactions may occur. One aspect of temporal dynamics in social interactions is the mutual coordination of individuals' behaviors during social interaction, otherwise known as behavioral interpersonal synchrony (IPS). Behavioral IPS has been studied increasingly in various contexts, such as a feature of the social interaction difficulties inherent to autism. To fully understand the temporal dynamics of social interactions, or reductions thereof in autism, the neural basis of IPS perception needs to be established. Thus, the current study's aim was twofold: to establish the basic neuro-perceptual processing of IPS in social interactions for typical observers and to test whether it might differ for autistic individuals. In a task-based fMRI paradigm, participants viewed short, silent video vignettes of humans during social interactions featuring a variation of behavioral IPS. The results show that observing behavioral IPS modulates the Action Observation Network (AON). Interestingly, autistic participants showed similar neural activation patterns as non-autistic participants which were modulated by the behavioral IPS they observed in the videos, suggesting that the perception oftemporal dynamics of social interactions is spared and may not underly reduced behavioral IPS often observed in autism. Nevertheless, a general difference in processing social interactions was found in autistic observers, characterized by decreased neural activation in the right middle frontal gyrus, angular gyrus, and superior temporal areas. These findings demonstrate that although the autistic and non-autistic groups indeed differed in the neural processing of social interaction perception, the temporal dynamics of these social interactions were not the reason for these differences in social interaction perception in autism. Hence, spared recruitment of the AON for processing temporal dynamics of social interactions in autism does not account for the widely reported attenuation of IPS in autism and for the widely reported and presently observed differences in social interaction perception in autism.

The Experiences of Motor Skill Development in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Reflected through Parental Responses.

Background/Objectives: Understanding movement development in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is critical for creating effective intervention strategies. This study aims to explore parental perspectives on the movement development of children with ASD, focusing on identifying common challenges and successful strategies. The objective is to analyze the experiences of parents to highlight the most effective approaches to support motor, communication, and social skills development in these children. Methods: Using a qualitative approach, we conducted in-depth interviews with parents of children with ASD. The data were analyzed using open and selective coding to identify key themes related to movement development challenges and strategies. The analysis included cross-referencing with the existing literature to support parental insights. Results: This study identified several key themes, including communication barriers, social interaction difficulties, and the importance of personalized movement programs. Parents reported significant challenges in understanding and addressing their children's movement needs, particularly in group settings. However, activities such as water programs, music and dance, and animal-assisted therapies were found to be highly engaging. Motivation was a critical factor, with rewards and active parental involvement enhancing participation. Conclusions: This study highlights the crucial role of a supportive environment, including professional guidance and family support, in the success of movement development programs.

Specifics of the Constitutional Right to Establish and Operate the Trade Unions

Introduction. In the framework of the legal regulation of the trade union activities in Russia, a number of regulations cause certain contradictions with regard to establishment of the social and labour relations. Difficulties in interaction of the trade unions with the employers and the state, supplemented by the competition with the private labour, arise the problem of preserving the institution under study as the one aimed at the formation of a system of social partnership, development of the labour environment, national economy and social equality. Therefore, the research strives to investigate the constitutional requirements for establishment and operation of the trade unions to enable harmonization of the social and labour relations. By finding the legislative gaps in the process of implementing the rights of citizens to establish and operate the trade unions, it is possible to modernize the regulatory legal institutions in this field. The aim of the research is to study the specifics of the constitutional right to establish and operate the trade unions.Materials and Methods. The methodological framework was organised based on the selection, analysis and systematisation of the relevant regulatory and legal data and research works in the subject area. The use of a set of general scientific (dialectical, logical, systemic) and specific scientific methods of cognition (comparative legal, dogmatic legal, sociolegal) made it possible to study the principles of state regulation of the trade union activities, identify the gaps in their work and shortcomings due to be eliminated, as well as to summarise the factors of applicability of the constitutional operational procedure to the activities of the trade union organisations in Russia.Results. The constitutional right to establish and operate the trade unions has been analysed. It has been acknowledged that determination of the legal advantages of the trade union members does not correlate with the process of declining the popularity of this institution in the Russian Federation. It has been revealed that this trend is caused by the several problems, i.e.: the multiplicity of the legislative requirements creates a number of contradictions in the relations between the trade unions and employers preventing the full freedom of organisations’ activities; the process of establishing the trade unions is complicated by the need to incorporate the legal entity, the legislative predetermination and formality do not give freedom to the organisations in compiling the charter and making changes to it without permission of the state; the principles of the internal relations regulation must comply with the standard provisions of the Labour Code of the Russian Federation, which also limits the trade union activity; the court defence of the rights of the trade union members needs to be revised and modernized to eliminate the ambiguous provisions and reduce the bureaucratic processes. The use of the variable collective agreements and principles of social partnership aimed at harmonisation of the social and labour relations have been proposed as the solutions to the identified problems.Discussion and Conclusion. The study has identified the key issues and underdeveloped aspects of the constitutional regulation of the trade union activities in the Russian Federation, which could be solved through the optimisation of the excessive legislative requirements, issuing the updated provisions on court defence of the trade union members, establishing the full independence and autonomy of such organisations in the matters of internal regulation, as well as through the development of the system of social partnership. The theoretical and practical conclusions drawn in the paper could be used for further research in the field of improving the legal literacy of the trade union members.

ABORDAGENS ODONTOLÓGICAS INTEGRADAS NO CUIDADO E INCLUSÃO DE PESSOAS COM TRANSTORNO DO ESPECTRO AUTISTA (TEA)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is characterized by difficulties in communication, social interaction, repetitive behaviors, and restricted interests, with these disorders manifesting in early childhood. These patients may also present motor coordination difficulties, poor adherence to oral hygiene, frequent use of medications, and habits such as bruxism. The behavioral development conditions of these patients require targeted approaches for dental care, which poses a challenge for the dentist. According to the literature review, methods such as TEACCH propose visual approaches like panels and schedules that help reduce anxiety and aid in dental treatment. To facilitate communication, the PECS system uses symbols, allowing individuals with autism to express their needs and emotions visually. Knowledge of these dental approaches is crucial for the dentist to gain the patient's trust and better manage the treatment.

Analyzing the influence of physical exercise interventions on social skills in children with autism spectrum disorder: insights from meta-analysis.

Children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) commonly encounter difficulties in social interactions and communication, significantly affecting their overall wellbeing. One proposed strategy to address these challenges is through physical exercise interventions. This study aims to conduct a meta-analysis to assess the impact of physical exercise interventions on the social skills of children with ASD. To perform this meta-analysis, we followed the Preferred Reporting Items of Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) Statement and the practical guide for transparent reporting of systematic reviews. Eligible studies included randomized controlled trials or quasi-experimental studies investigating the effects of physical exercise interventions on social skills among children with ASD. We used the standardized mean difference (SMD) to measure effect size. Sixteen studies were included in the meta-analysis. The results indicated a significant improvement in social skills among children with ASD following physical exercise interventions (SMD = -0.54, 95% CI = [-0.63; -0.44]). The moderator analysis underscored the crucial role of age in explaining the intervention outcomes for enhancing social skills, with interventions lasting more than 12 weeks recommended for better social skills improvement. The findings of this meta-analysis provide robust evidence supporting the efficacy of physical exercise interventions in enhancing the social skills of children with ASD. The moderator analysis underscores the importance of considering both the mean age and duration of interventions when implementing such programs. These results underscore the significance of physical exercise as a viable option for improving social skills in this population.

Altered sex differences related to food intake, hedonic preference, and FosB/deltaFosB expression within central neural circuit involved in homeostatic and hedonic food intake regulation in Shank3B mouse model of autism spectrum disorder

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder accompanied by narrow interests, difficulties in communication and social interaction, and repetitive behavior. In addition, ASD is frequently associated with eating and feeding problems. Although the symptoms of ASD are more likely to be observed in boys, the prevalence of eating disorders is more common in females. The ingestive behavior is regulated by the integrative system of the brain, which involves both homeostatic and hedonic neural circuits. Sex differences in the physiology of food intake depend on sex hormones regulating the expression of the ASD-associated Shank genes. Shank3 mutation leads to ASD-like traits and Shank3B −/− mice have been established as an animal model to study the neurobiology of ASD. Therefore, the long-lasting neuronal activity in the central neural circuit related to the homeostatic and hedonic regulation of food intake was evaluated in both sexes of Shank3B mice, followed by the evaluation of the food intake and preference. In the Shank3B +/+ genotype, well-preserved relationships in the tonic activity within the homeostatic neural network together with the relationships between ingestion and hedonic preference were observed in males but were reduced in females. These interrelations were partially or completely lost in the mice with the Shank3B −/− genotype. A decreased hedonic preference for the sweet taste but increased total food intake was found in the Shank3B −/− mice. In the Shank3B −/− group, there were altered sex differences related to the amount of tonic cell activity in the hedonic and homeostatic neural networks, together with altered sex differences in sweet and sweet-fat solution intake. Furthermore, the Shank3B −/− females exhibited an increased intake and preference for cheese compared to the Shank3B +/+ ones. The obtained data indicate altered functional crosstalk between the central homeostatic and hedonic neural circuits involved in the regulation of food intake in ASD.

The Role of Thioredoxin System in Shank3 Mouse Model of Autism.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by difficulties in social interaction and communication, repetitive behaviors, and restricted interests. Unfortunately, the underlying molecular mechanism behind ASD remains unknown. It has been reported that oxidative and nitrosative stress are strongly linked to ASD. We have recently found that nitric oxide (NO•) and its products play an important role in this disorder. One of the key proteins associated with NO• is thioredoxin (Trx). We hypothesize that the Trx system is altered in the Shank3 KO mouse model of autism, which may lead to a decreased activity of the nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), resulting in oxidative stress, and thus, contributing to ASD-related phenotypes. To test this hypothesis, we conducted in vivo behavioral studies and used primary cortical neurons derived from the Shank3 KO mice and human SH-SY5Y cells with SHANK3 mutation. We showed significant changes in the levels and activity of Trx redox proteins in the Shank3 KO mice. A Trx1 inhibitor PX-12 decreased Trx1 and Nrf2 expression in wild-type mice, causing abnormal alterations in the levels of synaptic proteins and neurotransmission markers, and an elevation of nitrosative stress. Trx inhibition resulted in an ASD-like behavioral phenotype, similar to that of Shank3 KO mice. Taken together, our findings confirm the strong link between the Trx system and ASD pathology, including the increased oxidative/nitrosative stress, and synaptic and behavioral deficits. The results of this study may pave the way for identifying novel drug targets for ASD.

Alleviation of Autophagic Deficits and Neuroinflammation by Histamine H3 Receptor Antagonist E159 Ameliorates Autism-Related Behaviors in BTBR Mice

Background/Objectives: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition marked by social interaction difficulties, repetitive behaviors, and immune dysregulation with elevated pro-inflammatory markers. Autophagic deficiency also contributes to social behavior deficits in ASD. Histamine H3 receptor (H3R) antagonism is a potential treatment strategy for brain disorders with features overlapping ASD, such as schizophrenia and Alzheimer’s disease. Methods: This study investigated the effects of sub-chronic systemic treatment with the H3R antagonist E159 on social deficits, repetitive behaviors, neuroinflammation, and autophagic disruption in male BTBR mice. Results: E159 (2.5, 5, and 10 mg/kg, i.p.) improved stereotypic repetitive behavior by reducing self-grooming time and enhancing spontaneous alternation in addition to attenuating social deficits. It also decreased pro-inflammatory cytokines in the cerebellum and hippocampus of treated BTBR mice. In BTBR mice, reduced expression of autophagy-related proteins LC3A/B and Beclin 1 was observed, which was elevated following treatment with E159, attenuating the disruption in autophagy. The co-administration with the H3R agonist MHA (10 mg/kg, i.p.) reversed these effects, highlighting the role of histaminergic neurotransmission in observed behavioral improvements. Conclusions: These preliminary findings suggest the therapeutic potential of H3R antagonists in targeting neuroinflammation and autophagic disruption to improve ASD-like behaviors.

Multiple complex developmental disorder (MCDD): Did we throw the baby out with the bathwater too fast? A systematic review

Background Multiple complex developmental disorder (MCDD) manifests as early-onset impairment across different domains. Although it could appear as a transitional condition between autism and childhood-onset schizophrenia, interest in MCDD has progressively waned. This study attempts to discern MCDD current relevance to avoid “throwing the baby out with the bathwater” too fast. Methods All available studies published up to January 2024 were retrieved and evaluated following on the PRISMA guidelines for systematic reviews using the term “multiple complex developmental disorder” or “MCDD”, without any filter for study design nor year of publication. Results Only 16 studies were included and analyzed. Overall, a variable heterogeneity was observed in terms of country of investigation, study design, and clinical groups. Most of the included studies explored the construct of MCDD in developmental age, comparing MCDD mostly with autistic patients, and observing how the former group had higher levels of paranoia, illusions, and psychotic thoughts, whereas the latter showed more frequently difficulties in social interactions and stereotypical behaviors. Conclusion Overall, these results showed how progressive changes in diagnostic criteria over time led MCDD to be abandoned as nosographic construct, leaving perhaps a diagnostic void between autism and psychotic disorders that needs to be further studied. Harmonizing Insights: LR-FFT Feature Extraction for Alzheimer’s and Autism Spectrum Disorder Detection in EEG Signals

Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) represent two distinct but equally impactful challenges in the field of neurology and cognitive health. AD is a degenerative neurological condition characterized by its progressive nature, typically affecting individuals in later stages of life. The hallmark features include cognitive impairment, mem- ory deterioration, and alterations in behavior. In contrast, ASD is a developmental disorder typically diagnosed in childhood, marked by difficulties in social interaction, communication, and repetitive behaviors. This paper explores the potential of the time-frequency feature extraction model known as the Left-Right Fast Fourier Transform (LR-FFT) in the context of these two disorders. While AD and ASD differ significantly in their onset, presentation, and demographic affected, both necessitate early and accurate diagnosis to enable timely intervention and tailored treatment strategies. Our research yields promising results, with classification accuracies reaching 88.26% for AD and 99.86% for ASD, demonstrating the LR-FFT’s potential to enhance diagnostic accuracy. By contributing to improved differentiation between these complex neurological conditions, this work aims to advance our understanding and management of AD and ASD, ultimately benefiting patients, their families, and healthcare practitioners.

Social cognition, psychosocial development and well-being in galactosemia

BackgroundClassic galactosemia is a rare inherited metabolic disease with long-term complications, particularly in the psychosocial domain. Patients report a lower quality of social life, difficulties in interactions and social relationships, and a lower mental health. We hypothesised that social cognition deficits could partially explain this psychological symptomatology. Eleven adults with galactosemia and 31 control adults participated in the study. We measured social cognition skills in cognitive and affective theory of Mind, and in basic and complex emotion recognition. We explored psychosocial development and mental well-being.ResultsWe found significant deficits on all 4 social cognition measures. Compared to controls, participants with galactosemia were impaired in the 2nd-order cognitive theory of mind, in affective theory of mind, and in basic and complex emotion recognition. Participants with galactosemia had a significant delay in their psychosexual development, but we found no delay in social development and no significant decrease in mental health.ConclusionSocial cognition processes seem impaired among our participants with galactosemia. We discuss the future path research may follow. More research is needed to replicate and strengthen these results and establish the links between psychosocial complications and deficits in social cognition.

Functional Communication in Autistic Children Impacts Skill Development After Participation in a CBT-Based Program

Challenges with functional communication (e.g., language use in situational contexts), are a core feature of autism. Challenges in functional communication are related to social interaction difficulties and may impact engagement in interventions such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT). CBT is a common intervention used to support emotion regulation and social skills development in autistic children. Programming relies on the participant’s ability to engage in complex language. The present study examined whether the functional communication level of autistic children (8-12 years) impacted social skills and emotion regulation development after participation in a CBT-based program. Repeated measures ANOVAs revealed no significant differences in emotion regulation, however, there was a significant main effect for social skills, based on functional communication levels. T-tests revealed significant improvements for all measures in the clinically significant functional communication group, but not the at-risk or non-significant groups. These results illustrate the importance of considering functional communication levels in autistic children.

Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) encompass a range of conditions characterized by difficulties in social interaction and communication. Managing dental treatment for children with autism presents challenges due to their reluctance to interact with dentists, which can be as high as 65%. This prospective non-randomized study, conducted at the Kazakh-Russian Medical University from January 15, 2023, to June 20, 2023, aimed to assess the efficacy of air abrasion caries treatment (AAbCT) compared to the standard method. The intervention involved applying air abrasion (AAb) treatment without anesthesia using aluminum oxide powder in the AAbCT group, while the control group received cavity preparation with local anesthesia. In this study, it was noted that the AAb method of tooth preparation was not different in efficacy from the traditional method for a population of children with autism, and could be used without anesthesia. A greater willingness to cooperate was noted (p=.0372). The AAb is an effective and safe treatment for children with ASD. Further studies needed to investigate its efficacy and safety in combination with behavioral interventions.
