In the dynamic landscape of Industry 4.0, characterized by the integration of smart technologies and the industrial internet of things (IIoT), ensuring robust security measures is imperative. This paper explores advanced security solutions tailored for the IIoT, focusing on the integration of intrusion detection systems (IDS) with advanced machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) techniques. In this paper, we present a novel intrusion detection model to fortify to fortify Industry 4.0 systems against evolving cyber threats by leveraging ML an DL algorithms for dynamic adaptation. To evaluate the performances and effectiveness of our proposed model, we use the improved Coburg intrusion detection data sets (CIDDS) and BoT-IoT datasets, showcasing notable performance attributes with an exceptional 99.99% accuracy, high recall, and precision scores. The model demonstrates computational efficiency, with rapid learning and detection phases. This research contributes to advancing next-gen security solutions for Industry 4.0, offering a promising approach to tackle contemporary cyber.

In point-of-care diagnostics, the continuous monitoring of sweat constituents provides a window into individual's physiological state. For species like horses, with abundant sweat glands, sweat composition can serve as an early health indicator. Considering the salience of such metrics in the domain of high-value animal breeding, a sophisticated wearable sensor patch tailored is introduced for the dynamic assessment of equine sweat, offering insights into pH, potassium ion (K+), and temperature profiles during episodes of heat stress and under normal physiological conditions. The device integrates a laser-engraved graphene (LEG)sensing electrode array, a non-invasive iontophoretic module for stimulated sweat secretion, an adaptable signal processing unit, and an embedded wireless communication framework. Profiting from an admirable Truth Table capable of logical evaluation, the integrated system enabled the early and timely assessment for heat stress, with high accuracy, stability, and reproducibility. Innovative travel experiences: discovering smart tourism in Uruguay's Punta del Este

This article aims to measure the concept of smart tourist destinations in Punta del Este and propose a conceptual research model to analyze the integration of smart technologies in the tourism context of the region. The research methodology is quantitative, and descriptive in 5 dimensions: a) information; b) accessibility; c) interactivity; d) personalization, and lastly e) security. The type of sampling is convenience. The data collection period was from March to December 2023, 774 cases were collected and answered by Brazilian tourists through a survey with 20 variables and a 5-point Likert scale. The evaluation for each dimension was on average: information with 3.5, accessibility with 3.27, interactivity with 3.18, personalization with 3.14, and security with 3.5. In tourism, smart technologies have caused significant changes, revolutionizing businesses, products, and tourism experiences. Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) play a crucial role in the development of smart tourism by providing a convenient, user-friendly, and personalized travel experience. The DTI Punta Del Este Framework is an academic approach that aims to improve the visitor experience by offering accurate and personalized information, optimizing business operations, and attracting new visitors, increasing the competitiveness of the sector.

From an environmental standpoint, the analysis evaluates the life cycle environmental impacts, including greenhouse gas emissions, air and noise pollution, and resource consumption associated with traditional roadways and EV roads. It examines the potential for EV roads to mitigate environmental impacts through reduced fossil fuel dependency, lower emissions, and integration with renewable energy sources. Infrastructure comparisons encompass the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of traditional roadways versus EV roads. Factors such as pavement materials, structural integrity, durability, and lifecycle costs are scrutinized to assess the performance and resilience of each infrastructure type. Industry 4.0 as an enabler of sustainability for small and medium enterprises

PurposeThe aim of this paper is to investigate the potential impact of Industry 4.0 (I4.0) digital technologies on promoting sustainability in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within developing economies such as Brazil. Additionally, we present a comprehensive framework that consolidates this correlation.Design/methodology/approachQualitative research was conducted through semi-structured interviews with leaders of SMEs to identify the specific challenges in achieving sustainability. Additionally, interviews were conducted with technology provider firms to evaluate the existing solutions available to SMEs. The interview results were analyzed, and technological solutions were proposed through a focus group session involving four experts in I4.0. These proposed solutions were then compared with the offerings provided by the technology providers. Based on this, a second round of meetings was conducted to gather feedback from the SMEs.FindingsThe findings of this study confirm the feasibility of implementing I4.0 and sustainable practices in SMEs. However, it is crucial to tailor the technologies to the specific circumstances of SMEs. The study presents propositions on how specific applications of technology can address the economic, environmental and social demands of SMEs. Furthermore, a framework is proposed, emphasizing the integration of smart technologies as essential components across sustainability dimensions.Originality/valueThis study makes a significant contribution to the current body of literature as it pioneers the examination of the relationship between I4.0 technologies and sustainability, focusing specifically on SMEs in a developing country context.

Education in the current digital era demands the use of smart technology and social media platforms in the learning process to suit the character of the digital generation. However, the competence of lecturers in Indonesia in this regard is still limited. Therefore, the workshop "Revolutionary Strategies for Modern Learning Through the Integration of Smart Technology and Social Media Platforms for Digital Generation Education" is important to implement. This workshop aims to provide understanding and skills to 187 lecturers in implementing technology and social media for learning innovation for digital generation students. Workshop material includes smart technology trends, use of social media platforms, digital evaluation and assessment strategies, as well as discussion of challenges and opportunities for integrating technology and social media in digital era learning. Participants' enthusiasm was quite high and the evaluation results showed that 91% were interested in implementing modern learning strategies after the workshop.

The proliferation of smart devices in educational settings has prompted a need to investigate their influence on learners' attitudes and language learning outcomes. Recent advancements in smart technology (ST) have ignited curiosity regarding their impact on academic eagerness (AE), (AS), and academic performance (AP) among elementary English language learners. Despite this, there remains a dearth of comprehensive discussion in this area. This study encompasses all primary language students from the academic year 2023 as its sample. A multistage sampling method was employed for sample selection. The study introduced ST as an intervention over eight 45-minute sessions spanning two months. Data collection instruments included AE assessments adapted from Fredericks et al., an AS questionnaire developed by the researchers, and an AP questionnaire designed by Pham and Taylor. Data analysis incorporated statistical tests such as the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, Levene test, and univariate analysis of covariance. The findings yield valuable insights into the impact of ST on AE, AS, and AP, shedding light on its potential advantages and limitations in language learning. Notably, the experimental group (EG) outperformed the control group (CG). These results contribute to the growing body of knowledge concerning ST integration in education and its consequences on AP and learner attitudes. Ultimately, this research aims to provide evidence-based recommendations for enhancing language learning outcomes and experiences among elementary English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students in the digital education era.

The analysis of new design ideas in renewable energy systems in this research was inspired by the Nenuphar (Water Lily) and the Sunflower. The Nenuphar’s exceptional capacity to float and large leaf surface make it a model for enhanced water-based energy conversion systems. Researchers have been looking into novel concepts like floating solar farms and wave energy collecting platforms after being inspired by the Nenuphar’s buoyancy and ability to efficiently use sunlight. Solar panel integration with water features can boost overall energy output while preserving precious land resources. The Sunflower, known for its phototropism and effective sun-tracking mechanism, offers suggestions for improving solar energy harvesting. This article explores the impact of the smart economy on the infrastructure and logistics of the One Belt, One Road (BRI – Belt and Road Initiative) initiative. The integration of smart technologies into the project has the potential to transform traditional systems, improve communication, increase efficiency and contribute to sustainable development. Purpose. This study aims to fill the existing knowledge gaps and shed light on the impact of the smart economy on the infrastructure and logistics of the One Belt, One Road project. By examining the opportunities, challenges and implications, this study aims to contribute to the understanding and successful implementation of smart technologies in this ambitious initiative. Methodology. The article uses the methods of quantitative empirical research, statistical analysis and visualisation, analysis and evaluation of the analytical assessment of tools for forming an innovative logistics network within the framework of the One Belt, One Road project. Results. The article examines the impact of the smart economy on connectivity, efficiency and sustainability, and highlights the perspectives and recommendations of different stakeholders. It emphasises the importance of cooperation between governments, businesses and local communities for successful implementation. The findings suggest that while the smart economy offers immense opportunities, challenges such as the digital divide, data protection and investment requirements need to be addressed. The article concludes with recommendations to foster cooperation, develop supportive policies, invest in digital infrastructure and prioritise sustainability. By following these recommendations, the One Belt, One Road project can effectively harness the transformative potential of the smart economy and create a sustainable and inclusive future. Practical implications. The materials can be used to plan a development strategy, taking into account new technologies and the possibility of implementation in the national development strategy. Value/originality. Agriculture is an important sector that plays a key role in the economic growth of countries. Innovative agricultural advancements has undoubtedly supported the expansion of the capacity and efficiency of different agricultural activities. According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization assessment, the world’s population is expected to reach 8.5 billion by 2030, and 9.6 billion by 2050 which will result in an unprecedented demand for food and agriculture products. It is estimated that the food production should increase by 70 percent to meet such a demand. Given the limited farming space, lack of water, climate change, and constantly changing environmental conditions, new and innovative smart agriculture solutions must be developed. In general, there has been an increase in the agricultural production volume over the time to ensure the food security. Efforts are being made to increase the quality and quantity of agribusiness products by transforming them into smart and connected products through a smart agriculture industry. Smart and precision agriculture refers to the integration of technology, such as the Internet of things, sensors, robotics, artificial intelligence, smart supply chains, big data analytics, and blockchain, into the agriculture industry. The Internet of things era is the umbrella that covers and enables the other technological tools. ChatGPT's Technology Application in the Higher Education Sector, Risk Analysis and Pathway Changes

After the emergence of ChatGPT, the role and development of artificial intelligence in the field of education has become a hot topic of discussion worldwide. Analyzing the core technical features and advantages of ChatGPT, we review and summarize the academic teaching and learning services supported by AI in four aspects: teaching content optimization, teaching process tutorial assistance, teaching method optimization, and academic paper writing, using the learning lifecycle as a framework, and look forward to 12 application scenarios combining ChatGPT's innovative technology with the higher education field. It is pointed out that the application of ChatGPT is subject to risk challenges in terms of academic integrity, privacy and information security, ethical model flaws and common sense bias, and teachers, students, higher education institutions and government departments should pay close attention to the development trend in this field, explore path changes and accelerate the deep integration of smart technologies with higher education in order to promote digital transformation and high-quality development of higher education.

Research and development of a standardized STEM classroom operation process with integrated smart technologies to meet the requirements of the 2018 general education program in Vietnam

The article focuses on the research and development of a standardized STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) lab operating procedure, integrating smart technologies in Vietnamese secondary schools to meet the requirements of the 2018 national curriculum. The aim of this study is to create an effective, diverse, and engaging STEM learning environment for students. The research aims to identify and design a standardized STEM lab operating procedure that aligns with the requirements of the 2018 curriculum. The study employs a theoretical research approach to understand international standards and principles of STEM lab design. During the research process, relevant literature, textbooks, and previous studies on STEM and the integration of smart technologies in education were explored and analyzed. The standards of the 2018 curriculum were also examined to gain a clear understanding of its requirements for implementing STEM in secondary schools. Based on the theoretical research and standards, the STEM lab operating procedure was designed and developed. The procedure includes steps such as defining STEM learning objectives, selecting and implementing appropriate smart technologies, designing STEM activities, and evaluating the effectiveness of the procedure.

Research trends, themes, and insights on artificial neural networks for smart cities towards SDG-11

Smart Cities can promote economic growth, sustainable transport, environmental sustainability, and good governance among cities. These benefits can support cities in achieving the SDG-11 targets. Smart Cities entails the integration of smart technologies, including machine learning techniques, in cities. Among the machine learning techniques, Artificial Neural Network (ANN) is prominent. Literature revealed significant research interest on ANN for Smart Cities, resulting to several existing review works. Existing works revealed research interests on applications for structural monitoring, Internet of Things (IoT), transport systems, and cybersecurity among others. However there is a scarcity in understanding the implications of ANN for Smart Cities towards SDG-11. This work, therefore, reviews the research trends on ANN for Smart Cities towards SDG-11 through a systematic bibliometric methodology. This work utilizes a keyword-based search retrieving 743 documents for descriptive analysis and 131 documents for content analysis. The results reveal an exponential growth in research interest and cluster formation among pertinent themes. This work determined the prominent themes on Environmental Impact, on Transport Systems, and on Urbanization. This review highlights insights on research trends, on thematic prominence, and on specific SDG-11 themes.

Assessment of relationships between smart technologies, corporate sustainability, and economic behavior of companies

The object of this study is the economic behavior of companies. The study solved the problem of conceptualizing the economic behavior of companies, taking into account the need to adhere to the goals of sustainable development and the use of smart technologies. It has been established that to assess the level of sustainable development of companies, economic, environmental, social, and managerial criteria based on corporate social responsibility are used. It is determined that smart technologies are associated with the introduction into production of cyber-physical systems integrating information and communication technologies into physical processes. To expand the possibilities of assessing the use of smart technologies, it is proposed to collect data on the expenditure of companies for a particular technology and the amount of revenue generated using this technology. The structural model for measuring the relationships between the use of smart technologies, sustainable development, and the economic behavior of companies was calculated using the PLS-SEM method. It has been established that currently, in fact, an increase in the burden on the environment, extensive use of resources for the countries of the European Union and Ukraine activates the economic behavior of companies because the coefficient of the path for load indicators is 0.916. At the same time, increasing the use of smart technologies by 1 will increase economic development indicators by only 0.104. This indicates a lesser power of the link between economic behavior and the use of smart technologies. However, the statistical significance and positive direction of the relationship between economic behavior and the use of smart technologies gives reason to recommend that the management of industrial companies pay special attention to the development of the integration of smart technologies into business processes.
