Facing the transformation and upgrading of regional economy, build a multi-disciplinary cross-integration innovative talent training system ——Taking the School of Mechanical Engineering of Sichuan University of Light Chemical Industry as an example

With the implementation of the innovation development strategy in our country, rapid development of new economy that characterized by new technology, new format, new industry and new mode, has made new requirements to the talent raining systems of the colleges and universities in our country. To meet the requirement of national and regional economic transformation and development, the school of mechanical engineering of Sichuan University of science and technology integrated superior resources and adopts a series of reform measures, such as improving the innovative talent training mode of interdisciplinary integration, constructing the interdisciplinary professional curriculum system and practical curriculum system, establishing the collaborative education system of industry education integration, and improving the teaching management and quality assurance system, ect., to reconstitute an innovative talent training system characterized by high-end equipment and interdisciplinary integration of energy conservation and environmental protection, food machinery, materials, environment, etc., which provides intellectual guarantee and talent support for the development of regional economy and industry.

Importance of gravity and friction on the targeted energy transfer of vibro-impact nonlinear energy sink

The effect of gravity and sliding friction on the dynamics around targeted energy transfer of an inclined vibro-impact nonlinear energy sink (VINES) is addressed. The non-smooth dynamics is first formulated in Signorini’s contact law and treated using a Moreau-Jean scheme adapted with an energy-conserving integration method. Exhaustive discussions are then carried out regarding the vibration damping performance of the VINES, as well as their dependence on the underlying vibro-impact induced response regimes, under both transient and steady-state responses. It is demonstrated that gravity is responsible for reducing the energy barrier required for achieving targeted energy transfer in the transient response, or enlarge the existing bandwidth of the effective strongly modulated response (SMR) regimes, which is an equivalent representation of TET in the steady-state response, to improve considerably the overall damping efficiency. Some adverse effects brought by gravity and friction are also reported, and it is found that, when the incline angle or friction coefficient grows large, the bandwidth of SMR reduces again and leads to a deterioration of efficiency. The results open a door for appropriately taking advantage of the gravity into the VINES design to improve its damping performance.

Dynamic computation of a tether-net system capturing a space target via discrete elastic rods and an energy-conserving integrator

The tether-net system is a promising technique for active debris removal. The capture process of a tether-net system for debris exhibits the nonlinear dynamics of very high dimensions and requires the dynamic simulation of high accuracy and efficiency in the design stage. This paper presents an integrated approach of both method of discrete elastic rods and algorithm of energy-conserving integration for the above purpose. The study shows that the method of discrete elastic rods is more suitable for modeling the extremely flexible threads of a woven net than the slender beam elements with C1 continuity. Besides, the energy-conserving integrator embedded in the present approach well conserves the total energy, and does not produce any numerical dissipations. The paper gives three numerical examples, including the capturing process of a hexagonal tether-net system for a space target, to demonstrate the advantages of the present approach, as well as the influence of some initial control parameters on the deployment phase of the tether-net system.

Potential of a vibro-impact nonlinear energy sink for energy harvesting

The energy harvesting potential of a vibro-impact nonlinear energy sink (VINES) is investigated. Applying Signorini’s contact law, the non-smooth dynamics is first formulated in a measure differential complementarity problem and treated using a Moreau-Jean scheme adapted with an energy-conserving integration method. The resulting scheme thus shows a good energy preservation property, allowing one to calculate the energy flow of the system in high precision. Exhaustive discussions are then carried out regarding the energy harvesting performance of the proposed VINES harvester, as well as their dependence on the underlying vibro-impact induced response regimes, under both transient and steady-state responses. It is demonstrated that the vibro-impact is responsible for achieving targeted energy transfer in the transient response or controlling the regimes in the steady-state response, to improve significantly the harvesting efficiency. Moreover, a properly designed VINES, working with 1–2 impacts per cycle, is capable for effective broadband energy harvesting over a wide amplitude and frequency range. Two specific considerations are also performed to evaluate further the generality and efficacy of the proposed harvester, and it is proved the VINES can provide higher energy density than the classical linear or cubic NES harvesters, and its effectiveness could be robust over a certain low level of noise.

Application of the Energy-Conserving Integration Method to Hybrid Simulation of a Full-Scale Steel Frame

The nonlinear unconditionally stable energy-conserving integration method (ECM) is a new method for solving a continuous equation of motion. To our knowledge, there is still no report about its application on a hybrid test. Aiming to explore its effect on hybrid tests, the nonlinear beam-column element program is developed for computation. The program contains both the ECM and the average acceleration method (AAM). The comparison of the hybrid test results with thesetwo methods validates the effectiveness of the ECM in the hybrid simulation. We found that the energy error of hybrid test by using ECM is less than that of AAM. In addition, a new iteration strategy with reduction factor is presented to avoid the overshooting phenomena during iteration process with the finite element program.

Shenwu Integration Technology for Energy Conservation and Emissions Reduction

Abstract Beijing Shenwu Group Corporation uses self-developed ceramic honeycomb as heat exchange cells instead of metal, with the advantages such as anti-corrosion, anti-erosion and anti-clogging, it can be used for air preheater and gas heater (GGH) in thermal power boiler island, to solving the problem of corrosion and plugging. Meanwhile, setting SCR catalyst in proper temperature region of ceramic honeycomb regenerator can save energy and reduce NOx. This air preheater can further reduce exhaust gas temperature, so as to improving boiler efficiency more than 3%, and achieving the goal of integration of energy conservation and emissions reduction ultimately.

Survey and Strategy Suggestions on Low Carbon Technology Innovation of Chinese Petrochemical Industry

In the context of global climate warming, Chinese petrochemical industry undertakes great pressure and responsibilities of CO2 emission reduction under the premise of national energy safety. From international experiences, green and low carbon becomes the development trends of petrochemical industry worldwide. The survey on relevant petrochemical enterprises summarizes the motivations, current ways, difficulties, and expected supports from governments in low carbon technology innovation. Based on the survey, the paper argues that technology innovation require integration of energy conservation, emission reduction and industry upgrading for the target of harmonious development of economy, society and environment. The choices of cost leadership, integration innovation, follower innovation, and industrial cluster are suggested when making innovation strategy by Chinese petrochemical industry.

The Integration of Energy Conservation into the Political Goal of Renewable Energy Self-Sufficiency—A German Case Study Based on a Longitudinal Reconstruction

Many local governments in Germany aim to reach Renewable Energy Self-Sufficiency (RESS) in their municipalities. In this context, ambitious time horizons for reaching this goal make it necessary to address the question of how less absolute energy can be consumed. The topic of energy conservation in scientific literature is very controversially discussed and in fact it is not clear which measures in the long term contribute to real reductions in energy demand. Therefore, in this paper, we do not determine how energy conservation should be achieved. Instead, we reconstruct, through an inductive longitudinal study, why energy conservation was integrated into the general principles of a municipality that wished to reach “RESS” by the year 2020 and considerably reduce energy demand. At the same time, we looked at the question of how energy conservation was conceptualized by local actors and which strategies, instruments, and activities were used to reach the goal. We found that environmentally concerned citizens brought the idea of energy conservation into the political arena. However, it was not until energy prices rose, regulations developed on a national level, subsidies for energy conservation emerged, and actions addressing the issue were seen by many local actors as adding value to the unique character the municipality gained by their RESS activities, that the actual subject was considered relevant in the municipality.

ENERGY‐EFFICIENT ASSET MANAGEMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL LANDLORDS

CO2 reduction by means of energy conservation is an important topic in many governmental environmental policies. As new construction accounts for a fraction of the total building stock, the energy performance of existing dwellings is of great importance. Professional landlords can play a major role in energy conservation, but there are indications that the large energy conservation potential in their housing existing stock is only exploited to a minor extent. This paper presents a method to implement the topic energy conservation in the asset management of professional landlords, in order to establish an integration of energy conservation in their maintenance and renovation practice. This method is described in relation to the asset management of Dutch social housing landlords, but may also be useful for other professional landlords. A high-order energy-conserving integration scheme for Hamiltonian systems

A new energy-conserving numerical integration method for Hamiltonian systems is presented. The method is constructed by a parallel connection of n multi-stage schemes of order 2 and its order of accuracy is 2n.

Objective energy–momentum conserving integration for the constrained dynamics of geometrically exact beams

In this paper the results in [S. Leyendecker, P. Betsch, P. Steinmann, Energy-conserving integration of constrained Hamiltonian systems—a comparison of approaches, Comput. Mech. 33 (2004) 174–185] are extended to geometrically exact beams. The finite element formulation for nonlinear beams in terms of directors, providing a framework for the objective description of their dynamics, is considered. Geometrically exact beams are analysed as Hamiltonian systems subject to holonomic constraints with a Hamiltonian being invariant under the action of SO(3). The reparametrisation of the Hamiltonian in terms of the invariants of SO(3) is perfectly suited for a temporal discretisation which leads to energy–momentum conserving integration. In this connection the influence of alternative procedures, the Lagrange multiplier method, the Penalty method and the augmented Lagrange method, for the treatment of the constraints is investigated for the example of a beam with concentrated masses.

Energy-conserving integration of constrained Hamiltonian systems ? a comparison of approaches

In this paper known results for continuous Hamiltonian systems subject to holonomic constraints are carried over to a special class of discrete systems, namely to discrete Hamiltonian systems in the sense of Gonzalez [6]. In particular the equivalence of the Lagrange Multiplier Method to the Penalty Method (in the limit for increasing penalty parameters) and to the Augmented Lagrange Method (for infinitely many iterations) is shown theoretically. In doing so many features of the different systems, including dimension, condition number, accuracy, etc. are discussed and compared. Two numerical examples are dealt with to illustrate the results.

Finite Element Method in Dynamics of Flexible Multibody Systems: Modeling of Holonomic Constraints and Energy Conserving Integration Schemes

In this work we discuss an application of the finite elementmethod to modeling of flexible multibody systems employing geometricallyexact structural elements. Two different approaches to handleconstraints, one based on the Lagrange multiplier procedure and anotherbased on the use of release degrees of freedom, are examined in detail.The energy conserving time stepping scheme, which is proved to be wellsuited for integrating stiff differential equations, gouverning themotion of a single flexible link is appropriately modified and extendedto nonlinear dynamics of multibody systems.

A method for modelling and evaluating integrated energy systems in agriculture

The successful integration of energy conservation or production processes requires detailed information on how the technology will interact with other processes in the system. This information must be organized into a working model of the production system if it is to be used effectively. Like any large-scale industrial or environmental system, agricultural production systems can be modelled as a collection of discrete physical processes interconnected in a finite number of ways. The modelling of these processes and their interconnection are explored in this paper. In addition to model development, process integration as a concept is explored. Starting with the traditional definition of process integration, the author refines and expands this concept. This expanded concept, called system integration, is coupled with the modelling method to investigate some of the issues associated with the design and evaluation of integrated energy systems in agriculture.
