IOTASDN: IOTA 2.0 Smart Contracts for Securing Software-Defined Networking Ecosystem

Software-Defined Networking (SDN) has revolutionized network management by providing unprecedented flexibility, control, and efficiency. However, its centralized architecture introduces critical security vulnerabilities. This paper introduces a novel approach to securing SDN environments using IOTA 2.0 smart contracts. The proposed system utilizes the IOTA Tangle, a directed acyclic graph (DAG) structure, to improve scalability and efficiency while eliminating transaction fees and reducing energy consumption. We introduce three smart contracts: Authority, Access Control, and DoS Detector, to ensure trusted and secure network operations, prevent unauthorized access, maintain the integrity of control data, and mitigate denial-of-service attacks. Through comprehensive simulations using Mininet and the ShimmerEVM IOTA Test Network, we demonstrate the efficacy of our approach in enhancing SDN security. Our findings highlight the potential of IOTA 2.0 smart contracts to provide a robust, decentralized solution for securing SDN environments, paving the way for the further integration of blockchain technologies in network management.

Intelligent System for Secure Tamper Protocol Model with IoT BlockchainArchitecture for Data Mitigation

In an era characterized by the proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT) devices and the critical importance of data integrity, the need for robust security mechanisms has never been greater. This paper introduces a novel "Secure Tamper Protocol Model" (STPM) integrated with an IoT-based blockchain architecture, designed to address the growing challenges of data mitigation in IoT ecosystems. This research explores the application of Symmetric Homomorphic Hidden Markov Models (SHHMMs) in the context of anomaly detection, with a focus on %G - IoT environments. SHHMMs have shown remarkable promise in accurately identifying anomalies within diverse datasets. The study presents numerical findings indicating the model's high accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-Score, with an initial accuracy of 98.2% reaching 99.0% at Epoch 100. Comparative analysis against traditional methods like Hidden Markov Models (HMM) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) models consistently highlights SHHMM's superior performance, demonstrated through Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), Packet Loss, End-to-End Delay, and Overhead metrics. The integration of blockchain technology further enhances the practicality of SHHMM in ensuring data integrity and security. This research contributes to the advancement of anomaly detection techniques in 5G- IoT applications, offering a blend of precision and robustness.

Towards accountable and privacy-preserving blockchain-based access control for data sharing

The integration of blockchain technology with Access Control (AC) systems presents novel opportunities for enhancing data security within decentralized architectures, which is drawing increasing attention in Data Sharing (DS) applications. However, existing works reveal a gap in achieving accountability for anonymous access in the absence of a centralized trusted authority. To address this issue, this paper introduces InvisiReveal, a novel Blockchain-Based AC (BBAC) framework that achieves permission invisibility, access anonymity, and accountability without extra trust assumptions. Users in InvisiReveal generate anonymous credentials to authenticate their requests using Zero Knowledge Proof. To enable accountability, a novel blockchain-oriented verifiable commitment (BC-VC) protocol is designed that allows a user to commit a confidential traceable tag to the blockchain. The system could unveil a malicious requester’s identity by opening the tag commitment under collaboration with the victim user and blockchain. We implement a prototype of InvisiReveal to evaluate its practicality, where an access request is verified within 5 ms.

Quantinar: a blockchain peer-to-peer ecosystem for modern data analytics

AbstractThe power of data and correct statistical analysis has never been more prevalent. Academics and practitioners require nowadays an accurate application of quantitative methods. Yet many branches are subject to a crisis of integrity, which is shown in an improper use of statistical models, p-hacking, HARKing, or failure to replicate results. We propose the use of a Peer-to-Peer (P2P) ecosystem based on a blockchain network, Quantinar, to support quantitative analytics knowledge paired with code in the form of Quantlets or software snippets. The integration of blockchain technology allows Quantinar to ensure fully transparent and reproducible scientific research.

ContextBlockchain-based Information Ecosystems (BBIEs) are a type of information ecosystem in which blockchain technology is used to provide a trust mechanism among parties and to manage shared business logic, breaking the traditional scheme of Information Ecosystems dominated by a leading company and leveraging the decentralization of data management, information flow, and business logic. ObjectiveIn this paper, we propose architecture and technical aspects concerning creating a BBIE, underlining the advantages supplied and the logic decomposition among the business and storage components. MethodThe requirements are derived from the current needs of the collaborative business and the data collected by surveying practitioners. To get these needs we followed the Grounded Theory research approach. We validate our architectural schema against a case study on managing a wine supply chain–involving different companies and supervision authorities. ResultsThe proposed solution integrates blockchain-based applications with the existing information system as a module of the ecosystem, leveraging on the low costs, scalability, and high-level security because of the restricted access to the network. ConclusionWe must go a long way in deepening and refining the possibilities offered by technology in supporting innovative multi-organizational business models. BBIEs can contribute substantially to paving the way in such a direction.

It outlines the use of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on the blockchain to represent IPRs, with smart contracts automating interactions and encoding rules for various processes such as applications, licensing, transfers and royalty distribution. Governance mechanisms, such as decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), are employed to allow stakeholders to propose and vote on contract changes, ensuring adaptability. This approach aims to streamline IPR workflows, reduce transaction costs, improve transparency and enhance security.FindingsThe findings of this study suggest that implementing a blockchain-based ecosystem for managing intellectual property rights (IPRs) can lead to various benefits. These include reduced transaction costs, improved transparency, enhanced security, increased liquidity levels for IP assets and streamlined automated processes. Finally, this article will examine how the integration of blockchain technology—entirely machine-operated and free from human manipulation—aims to eliminate the human biases of identifying factors such as gender that can be concealed or fabricated when operating in an online sphere.

Block chain technology gained significant attention in recent years due to its benefits in terms of integrity, audit ability, transparency and automation. This research paper presents the results of questionnaire analysis through opinion survey conducted to explore the perception and experiences of accounting professionals and non professionals regarding integration of block chain technology in accounting practices. This research is both quantitative and descriptive in nature and mainly uses primary data obtained from surveys of 60 respondents. Convenience sampling was used due to limited time and cost. Secondary sources used include academic journals, research papers and websites to compile study data. Further, for analysis of data 5 point Likert Scale of measurement statistical technique is used. Tabular analysis of TAS and BCA is also analyzed in present paper. Overall, through comprehensive analysis of opinion survey report, it was concluded that respondents showed positive attitude towards the potential benefits of block chain technology in accounting practices. But, the application of block chain technology still in its early stage and has many challenges and risk to make it more reliable. Training and education on block chain technology are essentials for accounting professionals to leverage its benefits effectively.

Researchers analyzed literature related to blockchain technology in the context of educational financial management, and collected data from case studies of blockchain technology implementation in educational institutions that have adopted it. The research results show that the integration of blockchain technology in educational financial management can increase transparency and accountability by providing immutable proof of authentication for every financial transaction. In addition, the use of blockchain technology can increase the efficiency of financial administration processes and minimize the risk of fraud or data manipulation. The conclusion of this research is that the integration of blockchain technology in educational financial management has great potential to increase transparency, accountability and efficiency in the education system. However, challenges related to infrastructure availability and technical understanding need to be overcome to optimize its benefits.
