 The canvas business model training program and the socialization of the SMESCO CIS application aim to provide education for MSME actors to manage their business. The business canvas model is a business model that helps business actors in designing their business. CIS SMESCO itself is an integrated business application for Cooperatives and MSMEs in Indonesia. This program is very important as a form of support for the Government in realizing Cooperatives and MSMEs to go digital as well as go public.
 The method of implementing this training uses the lecture method. The participants were 50 people who were MSME actors who had just started their business. The activity is carried out online in approximately 90 minutes. Evaluation of activities was carried out by distributing feedback questionnaires using google forms a few minutes before the event took place. The results of the evaluation showed that 80% of the participants considered this activity very informative and understood the material presented by the resource persons.
 This activity is beneficial for MSME actors to transform digitally and in an effort to go public. This activity needs to be carried out offline by helping participants to start digitizing their business.

The hype is supported by the expansion of e-commerce in Indonesia. The rise of e-commerce entrepreneurs in Indonesia is one of the factors that makes Business English study program to set up Integrated Business Applications (IBA) course. The course is intended to make students learn to do business activities by doing real online business. This research would like to reveal whether the IBA course could enhance students’ entrepreneurial skills or not. This research uses fifth semester students who already passed this course as respondents. The findings of this research reveal that Integrated Business Applications course is really essential to enhance students’ entrepreneurial skills. Further research could be implemented in order to find the impact of this course to the other study program.

IT Applications and Managing Change

The introduction of integrated business applications (enterprise resource planning [ERP]) has caused a tectonic shift in how we think about business logic. Some involve fundamental logical principles that can then be applied to individual functions. In the first of a series of articles, the authors lay the groundwork for understanding why implementation of these applications causes significant disruption in how business executives need to look at business improvements. The introduction of cross‐functional applications that require a redefinition of business processes integrated across functional boundaries has resulted in more than just relearning how business transactions work. To make optimal use of these business applications, thought processes must change, also. As the financial leaders within a business, financial executives play an instrumental role in creating and executing these designs, not only in finance but also in how other functions design and execute their roles. In the new applications world, understanding these principles is key to providing direction to the business as processes are reengineered. Business processes are not only variable they are as well dynamic. A key benefit of Business Process Management (BPM) is the ability to adjust business processes accordingly in response to changing market requirements. In parallel to BPM, enterprise cloud computing technology has emerged to provide a more cost effective solution to businesses and services while making use of inexpensive computing solutions, which combines pervasive, internet, and virtualization technologies (). Despite the slow start, the business benefits of cloud computing are as such that the transition of BPM to the cloud is now underway. Cloud services refer to the operation of a virtualized, automated, and service-oriented IT landscape allowing the flexible provision and usage-based invoicing of resources, services, and applications via a network or the internet. The generic term “X-as-a-Service” summarize the business models delivering almost everything as a service. BPM in the cloud is often regarded as a SaaS application. More recently, BPM is being regarded as a PaaS as it facilitates the creation and deployment of applications, in this case business process solutions. The PaaS landscape is the least developed of the four cloud based software delivery models previously discussed. PaaS vendors, such as IBM, Oracle, and Microsoft delivered an application platform with managed cloud infrastructure services however, more recently the PaaS market has begun to evolve to include other middleware capabilities including process management. BPM PaaS is the delivery of BPM technology as a service via a cloud service provider. For the classification as a PaaS a BPM suite requires the following capabilities: the architecture should be multi-tenant, hosting should be off premise and it should offer elasticity and metering by use capabilities. When we refer to BPM in the cloud, what we are really referring to is a combination of BPM PaaS and BPaaS (Business Process as a Service). Business Process as a Service (BPaaS) is a set of pre-defined business processes that allows the execution of customized business processes in the cloud. BPaaS is a complete pre-integrated BPM platform hosted in the cloud and delivered as a service, for the development and execution of general-purpose business process application. Although such a service harbors an economic potential there are remaining questions: Can an individual and company-specific business process supported by a standardized cloud solution, or should we protect process creativity and competitive differentiation by allowing the company to design the processes individually and solely support basic data flows and structures? Does it make sense to take a software solution “out of the box” that handles both data and process in a cloud environment, or would this hinder the creativity of business (process) development leading to a lower quality of processes and consequently to a decrease in the competitive positioning of a company? How to manage the inherent compliance and security topic. Within a completely integrated business application system, all required security aspects can be implemented as a safeguarding with just enough money. Within the cloud, however, advanced standards and identity prove is required to monitor and measure information exchange across the federation. Thereby there seems to be no need for developing new protocols, but a standardized way to collect and evaluate the collected information.

Izazovi implementacije ERP sistema u računovodstvu

Accounting information system can be divided into traditional system based on computers with the database allocated among divisions and integrated business application (ERP- Enterprise Resource Planning) where all divisions have access to the data needed to successfully complete their basic functions. Integrated business solutions increase business efficiency, encourage preparation of reports of a high quality and increase efficiency of decision making processes. However, not only that these ERP models and their implementation is not cost effective they also decrease employee moral because ERP solutions are seen as a method of downsizing. Only 9,9% of Serbian enterprises use ERP solutions. The goal of this paper is to point out problems and challenges of ERP implementation, but also to focus on its advantages in terms of increased efficiency of the business.

Enhancing Functional Fit with Continuous Training During the ERP Post-Implementation Phase

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, such as SAP, feature a rich set of integrated business applications. However, to maximize the long term benefits from ERP implementations, organizations need to careful manage the post-implementation phase and focus on supporting end users to achieve better fit between their business processes and the ERP system features. This study develops a research model based on the resource-based view (RBV) of the firm and finds support for a positive and complementary relationship between continuous training resources, functional fit capability and business process success. An increase in continuous training resources increases the functional fit capability for the organization and is seen to improve business process success. The results support the need to focus on continuous end user training throughout the post implementation phase as a key contributor to ERP systems success for any organization.

The Strategic Imperative For An Integrated Enterprise

Most large organizations today have invested heavily in business software applications over the past few decades. These applications support key elements of sales, manufacturing, customer service, financial operations and have reaped tremendous rewards in productivity gains and competitive advantage. However, these individual applications were often not built or purchased with interoperability in mind. Rather, they evolved over time as a result of the latest technological innovation or hasty business need, leading to extremely complex, incompatible systems. As a result in many large organizations today the IT infrastructure often consists of many islands of automation, characterized by heterogeneous computing platforms, various proprietary information formats and diverse programming models. Against this backdrop competitive pressures are forcing large organizations to improve efficiency through integrating key business operations. E-commerce initiatives are also calling for a more integrated enterprise. This paper first examines the problem of poorly integrated business applications and the inadequacy of the traditional point-to-point integration approach. The paper then presents todays enterprise application technology and discusses the advantages of enterprise application integration and e-commerce or B2B application integration.

Extending the SOA paradigm to e-Science environments

In the business world, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) has recently gained popularity as a new approach to integrate business applications. In a similar way, scientific workflows can accomplish the automation of large-scale e-Science applications. However, the use of workflows in scientific environments differs from that in business environments. Scientific workflows need to handle large amounts of data, deal with heterogeneous and distributed resources such as the Grid, and require specialized software applications that are written in diverse programming languages, most of which are not popular in business environments. In this paper, we analyze the preparedness and the shortcomings of the SOA paradigm in addressing the needs of e-Science and the extent to which this can be done. The paper identifies the characteristics of a Virtual Organization providing scientific services, and presents a model placing particular emphasis on BPEL processes as a mean for supporting the interaction with Web Services. We discuss the challenges encountered in the seamless integration of BPEL processes within an e-Science infrastructure and we propose a set of complementary infrastructural services. By providing business utilities and automation technology founded on Web Services, infrastructural services cooperate with BPEL in ensuring on-demand resource provisioning for the execution of scientific workflows, while addressing some critical issues such as security, access control and monitoring. Furthermore, the paper presents our experience in adopting the proposed approach within a collaborative environment for bioinformatics. To illustrate how a scientific experiment can be formalized and executed, we focus on micro-array data processing, a field that will be increasingly common in applications of machine learning to molecular biology.

Typical objects include graphics, sound, and video clips. For some applications, like geographic Information Systems(GIS) and computer-aided design (CAD), developers need the ability to define their own objects.Storing objects involves two aspects: storing data for their properties and storing and activating theirmethods. The first part- storing properties – is relatively easy. In relational database, the properties becomes columns. Relational databases can be adapted to handle objects. On of main components is the ability to define new data types. These data types are treated as objects, and they can inherit properties from other data types. Many commercial applications are created using OO methodologies. Given that several object-oriented applications might need to share the same data, we describe how such applications can interoperate with eachother. By exposing the internal object properties and methods, the developers can use the applications to create the complex integrated business applications. The applications can use all the features of a spreadsheet, word processors, or graphics packages.This technology also provides function as well as data together so that the data can be manipulated bythe given function. we show that how the data is more secure in object-oriented database than in relational database and also why do we migrate from RDBMS into OODBMS.In this paper, we describe the major characteristics and requirements of object-oriented applications and how they may affect the choice of a system and method for making objects persistent in that application.

Distribution of Integrated Business Applications

New corporate developments, such as globalization, diversification and process orientation, are posing a challenge to the degree of integration of business application software. International standard software designed to meet the requirements of all types of business is acquiring greater strategic significance. The increased need for flexibility, localization, and scalable growth makes it necessary for highly integrated businesses applications to be distributable. Possible scenarios reflect managerial and organizational requirements. Additional mechanisms must be incorporated and business processes adapted to compensate for the increased autonomy of sub-applications. Standardising business application security assessments with pattern-driven audit automations

In the light of recent corporate corruption scandals the requirement for Corporate Governance and Responsibility has emerged as a top management priority, as reflected on the recent regulatory environment and compliance requirements e.g. Sarbanes–Oxley Act. The need for explicitly demonstrated assurance of the financial and accounting information in an IT-fuelled business environment has shifted interest to the information and the IT systems themselves. Assurance of information is based on the art and science of IT audit, a set of recurring tasks by nature both in time and in space. In environments of integrated business applications and enterprise resource planning systems, auditing is particularly laborious and the requirement for automation of auditing tasks was never more demanding. The belief that audit automation is part of the means to achieve governance is developing amongst scholars and practitioners alike. However there is no common understanding yet developed as of how such automation could be achieved across different systems and applications. We argue that through appropriate standardisation of the automation requirements such cross-system implementation may be possible and we propose as a means of standardisation the use of security design patterns. In this paper we explore the use of security patterns for audit automation and we implement them as a means of supporting its standardisation within integrated business application systems.

The second stage, ‘Web application’, was the provision of computing applications on the Web. The latest stage, ‘Web Services’, promises to integrate business applications via the Internet regardless of differences in platforms. The promises of Web Services have yet to materialise. Operational and security issues still dog its adoption by individuals, businesses and other organisations. This paper confines itself to an examination of the possible range of new and old legal issues that Web Services might throw up. It concentrates on ‘network contracts’(among multiparty partners) for the supply of goods (as well as information) and services, end-to-end security, data and privacy protection, intellectual property and dispute resolution. The paper argues that, whilst Web Services extend current capabilities towards the ubiquitous network, they nevertheless do not prompt a radical departure from the currently evolving legal framework. The likely impacts of Web Services on the law in general and the attendant risks and responsibilities of all participants in particular will appear to be linked with the breadth of their reach. Yet, one cannot say exactly how the legal response will shape out finally. It may be hazarded that the nature of contracts and jurisdictional issues will be the most extensively impacted, consequently too dispute resolution.

The Capstone “Integrated Business Applications” Course: Addressing the Need for Cross-Functional MBA Education

The College of Business at the University of South Florida has implemented a new track-driven MBA program that culminates in an innovative two-semester capstone Integrated Business Applications (IBA) course. The goal is to address the call by industry for more cross-functional training of MBA students. This article describes the IBA course, including issues of pedagogy and evaluation of student performance, outlines key categories of knowledge and skill application imbedded within the course experience, and provides a summary of key operational challenges encountered as well as approaches to assessing program success.

A Fresh Look at Integrated Business Applications - Neither Package nor Custom - Made

Since integrated business applications demonstrate weaknesses, intermediate solutions positioned in between packages and custom-made software need to be explored. One suggestion for such an adaptable architecture uses a functionally stable core with peripheral applications. This architecture accounts for software market dynamics and interests of different parties involved. The ideas developed stem from a case study in the German market for small business software. The case describes the problems within this business configuration and presents a technical solution that implements a core application approach. The concept could turn out to be useful for other business networks, as first hypotheses hint.

An integrated business application architecture

An integrated business application architecture has been implemented in the Information Systems and Communications Group and the Information Systems and Products Group, two of IBM's group headquarters. The language base used is APL so that the maximum productivity can be achieved. The cornerstone of this architecture is an APL-based graphics package called A Presentation Graphics System (APGS).
