Customer perspectives on reputable and accountable Islamic finance: a behavioural intention model with a meta-analysis SEM approach

Purpose This research aims to analyses the structural model of customers’ intention towards reputable and accountable Islamic finance, explained through Meta-Analysis Structural Equation Modelling (MASEM) with the Theory of Planned Behaviour approach and extended variables. Design/methodology/approach This study used MASEM to examine the factors systematically influencing behavioural intentions within Islamic finance. By synthesising 89 existing studies, the study identified key variables and their relationships, providing a comprehensive understanding of the underlying mechanisms. A rigorous methodology involving article selection, data extraction and statistical analysis enabled the development of a robust conceptual framework. Findings This study underscores the significant impact of subjective norms and perceived behavioural control on the intention to adopt Islamic finance, mediated by customer attitude. Religiosity, customer awareness and knowledge influence the intention to adopt Islamic finance products, with the Islamic financial institution's reputation and customer attitude serving as mediating variables. Originality/value This research novelty examines Islamic finance accounting, reporting and financial accountability, primarily focusing on customers’ perceived intentions towards Islamic financial practices.

Exploiting LSTM Neural Network Algorithm Potentiality for Early Identification of Delayed Graduation in Higher Education

Adoption of deep learning classification algorithms in the domain area of higher education provides exploratory predictive data analytics able to exploit students’ academic behavior. Concretely, student retention and success are critical concerns in higher education globally. Timely identification of potential delays in graduation is essential for universities to provide effective interventions and support, ensuring students’ progress efficiently and maintaining high graduation rates, thereby enhancing institutional reputation. This study examines data from a typical computer science department of a central Greek university, covering student performance for almost two decades (1999-2018). Through extended data preprocessing, we developed a robust dataset focusing on key courses indicative of students' likelihood to graduate on time or experience delays. We employed a deep learning Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) Neural Network algorithm, leveraging this dataset to classify and predict students' final academic outcomes. Our findings reveal that early-semester performance data can successfully forecast graduation timelines, enabling proactive educational strategies to support student success during their studies at the university.

In an increasingly complex digital era, Islamic educational institutions face the challenge of building a positive image and favorable public opinion. This study aims to analyze effective strategies for shaping the image and public opinion of Islamic educational institutions, with the research questions: what is meant by building image and public opinion in the context of Islamic educational institutions, and what strategies can be implemented to foster public trust? The methodology employed is a literature review, including tool preparation and critical analysis of relevant literature. The findings indicate that building a positive image requires high integrity, quality service, trusted leadership, and the application of educational exhibitions as an effective communication medium. Six main strategies that can be implemented include honesty in communication, provision of quality services, strengthening leadership, developing human resources, applying competitive strategies, and utilizing educational exhibitions. Success in building a positive image not only enhances the institution's reputation but also contributes to increased attractiveness and public trust, enabling Islamic educational institutions to establish harmonious relationships with the community and support sustainable institutional growth. This research is expected to provide insights for the managers of Islamic educational institutions in implementing appropriate strategies.

The Importance of Public Relations in Building Corporate Reputation

This study examines the importance and value of Public Relations department (PR) in creating reputation within institutions such as commercial companies. Scholars and PR professionals emphasize that PR has a large impact on creating a two-way communication, promoting and maintain good reputation. The main purpose of this theoretical research is that how corporate reputation is seen and to what extent domestic companies in the Kurdistan Region pay attention to it. In this research, PR literature has been reviewed and it is argued that it can be used as a guideline for creating, developing and maintain institutional reputation.

SOME ASPECTS OF RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM RISKS IN INSTITUTIONAL MANAGEMENT TRANSFORMATIONS IN THE FIELD OF EDUCATION: US EXPERIENCE

The article is devoted to the analysis of the American accounting experience potential risks in the management of institutional transformations. Goal articles - to reveal some aspects of the US experience in taking into account risks in management institutional transformations in education. Theoretica research methods applied: study of scientific literature, analysis, systematization, comparison, specification, generalization of information. The implementation of transformations in the educational sector (of institutional transformations) is associated with the emergence of certain risks. There is set of potential risk factors with which any organization, including higher educational institutions, collides permanently or temporarily, including: threats from natural disasters such as hurricanes, fires from thunderstorms lightning, floods, etc.; failures and failures in the operation of service systems of the type interruptions and power outages, protection failure, failures equipment, etc.; malicious actions such as sabotage, terrorism, computer actions fraud; the so-called human factor, that is, errors due to negligence employees, their lack or lack of necessary knowledge and skills. Taking into account the peculiarities of educational organizations, it is suggested to divide all potential risks and the necessary institutional transformations associated with them into four main categories: strategic risks, financial, legislative, etc operating rooms Strategic risks involve long-term threats that can to influence the successful activity of a higher educational institution. Financial risks foresee the possibility of loss of material means and other assets. Legislative risks involve improper implementation of state laws and instructions, as well as local regulations when implementing institutional ones transformations Operational risks involve erroneous actions of individuals, cases of fraud in the university environment. In addition, one more is known a category of risk that is very important for educational institutions is the risk of losing reputation The reputation of the higher educational institution, its image and prestige have of great importance for the successful functioning of higher education institutions. Higher education institutions should participate in the evaluation of their propensity to risks and have a complete understanding of all the categories of risks they may face to meet The article analyzes some possible approaches to risk assessment, which are offered by American scientists. Expediency is emphasized the use of American experience in Ukraine, where they are taking place today significant institutional transformations in the field of education.

Lithuanian Intelligence Services’ Strategic Communication: 2012–2022 National Threat Assessments, Activity Reports and Recruitment Videos

This study examines the communication of the State Security Department of the Republic of Lithuania and the Second Investigation Department under the Ministry of National Defence in 2012–2022. It identifies the aspects relevant to the strategic communication of the intelligence services, analyses specifics of the texts and tendencies in national threat assessments and activity reports, and examines how these institutions present themselves. The study applies the theory of securitisation and critical discourse analysis. It includes other research related to the topic, practices of foreign intelligence services in publishing annual reports and using the YouTube social media platform, media publications and other sources. The study concludes that strategic communication for intelligence agencies is essential for the long-term success of their operations. By focusing on strategic objectives, they inform and educate the public about themselves and national security and develop a cooperative relationship, contributing to deterrence. Both institutions examined in this study are becoming not only formally more open to the public, but also aim to build and maintain a high institutional reputation, connect with their audience and create an image of professionalism, modern accountability and openness to the public.

Analisis Kepuasan Mahasiswa STMIK Widuri terhadap Pelayanan Bagian Keuangan Menggunakan Metode Service Quality (SERVQUAL)

This study aims to analyze student satisfaction with the administrative services of the Finance Department at STMIK Widuri, utilizing the SERVQUAL method. Effective administrative services are crucial for supporting the quality of higher education and the institution's reputation. Through a questionnaire designed based on the five dimensions of SERVQUAL reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, and tangible evidence data were collected from active students. The analysis results are expected to identify areas for improvement in financial services and provide concrete recommendations to enhance service quality. This research aims to offer insights for decision-makers at STMIK Widuri to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of financial services while meeting student needs. Additionally, the findings are anticipated to enhance STMIK Widuri's image as a responsive institution towards student requirements. The study also emphasizes the importance of understanding student expectations in efforts to improve service quality in higher education.

Analisis Kepuasan Mutu Pelayanan PMB STISIP Widuri Menggunakan Metode Service Quality (SERVQUAL)

This study examines student satisfaction with the New Student Admission (PMB) services at STISIP Widuri. In the competitive landscape of private higher education institutions (PTS), PMB is vital for attracting prospective students through effective marketing and high-quality services. The research, however, identifies that current levels of student satisfaction with PMB services at STISIP Widuri fall short of expectations. By applying the Service Quality framework, the study evaluates key service dimensions including reliability, responsiveness, and empathy. The results indicate that the services provided do not meet student expectations, leading to notable dissatisfaction. The study seeks to uncover the factors affecting student satisfaction and offers recommendations for enhancing service quality. The outcomes aim to make a significant impact on improving PMB services at STISIP Widuri, benefiting both academic and practical aspects. Ultimately, this research provides a foundation for improving higher education services, especially in the new student admission process. The recommendations are designed to strengthen the connection between the institution and its students, boost loyalty, and encourage positive word-of-mouth. Improving the quality of PMB services is crucial for achieving competitive advantage and enhancing the institution's reputation.

The Impact of Extracurricular Activities on Developing Academic Standing, Student Satisfaction, Performance, and Bolstering the Academic Reputation of Higher Education Institutions from the Perspective of SDGs

Objective: This study investigates the impact of extracurricular activities (ECA) on developing the academic performance of student, improving their overall university experience, and elevating the academic reputation of institutions in the alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Method: This study employs a qualitative descriptive research methodology, concentrating on the analysis of ECA's role as a sustainable strategy for enhancing student experience and improving the academic reputation of universities. Results and Discussion: The results show that students who participate in ECA experience better academic performance and greater satisfaction with their university experience. Institutions that encourage these activities have a stronger academic reputation, which contributes to the overall development of students, higher rankings, and the attraction of high-achieving students. Research Implications: The research underscores the importance of supporting ECA to improve student performance and satisfaction. It recommends integrating ECA into academic programs and forming partnerships with external organizations to offer students more opportunities for skill development. Continuous evaluation of ECA programs is essential to meet changing student needs and maintain academic excellence. Originality/Value: This study highlights the unique role of ECA in enhancing academic performance, student experience, and university reputation. It provides new insights into how ECA contribute to student development by improving critical skills like time management and teamwork, while also strengthening institutional standing.

Impact of Marketing Strategies on Strengthening the Image of Public Universities in Ecuador

This article analyzes how marketing strategies impact the strengthening of public universities' images in Ecuador. In a systematic literature review, it shows that the main problems affecting institutional reputation are found in the lack of qualified personnel in their communication departments, as well as administrative management deficiencies. Then, it introduces some of the emerging relational tools, like artificial intelligence and neuromarketing, whose effectiveness has been already tested with a view to improving institutional perception. The competitiveness theory will provide insights for understanding how universities can acquire differential advantages within an increasingly globalized and competitive market for educational services. It follows that effective marketing strategies, digital marketing, and personalized contents help in increasing visibility, thereby attracting more students and enabling international collaborations. The article concluded that what public universities need to do is integrate such strategies coherently with their institutional objectives for effective positioning and improved public perception.

Value, knowledge and reputation: zoological exchange by Australian museums, 1870-1900.

The burgeoning nineteenth-century public-museum sector built a significant part of its natural-history specimen collections through extensive international trading. The early 2020s has seen an upsurge of scholarly interest in this largely overlooked trade. Exchange was a distinctive aspect of the natural-history trade that reveals much about the diverse practices and motives of the institutional collectors. Economic-geographic benefits included conserving the limited financial resources of museums and exploiting complementarities in the geographic distribution of specimens. Collection management, institutional reputation, social connection and international diplomacy were also part of a complex mix of value making that shaped this important international trade. We analyse the exchange practices of the three largest museums in the Australian colonies in the final three decades of the nineteenth century who exchanged Australia's 'rare and curious' fauna with collectors across the globe. By deploying and analysing extensive, comparative data on a particular form of natural history, zoology, and a particular kind of trade, exchange trading, among three Australian museums, this paper extends and enriches recent scholarship on the mobility of natural-history specimens and how they were traded.

Feasibility Evaluation and Development of Educational Laboratories: Contribution to Institutional Development

This study aims to optimize the use of educational laboratories as a means of institutional development at the Faculty of Education, Surabaya State University. Using a development research approach with the ADDIE model, this research involved analyzing the needs of the institution, students, lecturers, and curriculum that must be met by the education laboratory. Data were collected through questionnaires and documentation studies, then analyzed to evaluate the effectiveness and feasibility of the laboratory products developed. The results showed that the education laboratory at Faculty of Education has adequate facilities and infrastructure conditions, and the products developed are considered very feasible in supporting learning objectives. Attractive and interactive product design increases student engagement, while the use of appropriate language in the product strengthens the effectiveness of material communication. Overall, the optimization of educational laboratories is proven to not only support the achievement of learning objectives, but also strengthen the institution's reputation in providing relevant and quality education. Continuous evaluation is recommended to ensure the educational laboratory remains adaptive to evolving needs.

Implementation of Islamic Inheritance Law: Study of History, Law and Its Principles

The imposition of late payment penalties in Islamic pawnshops at the initial stage of the contract has sparked debate. This study examines the implications of such penalties on the principles of justice, customers, funders, and Islamic financial institutions. Literature study and fatwa review are the basis of the discussion. The results show that fines that are not agreed upon at the beginning of the contract have the potential to cause legal and sharia uncertainty, and open up opportunities for abuse of authority. The negative impact is a decrease in customer trust and tarnishing the reputation of Islamic financial institutions. The proposed solutions are the inclusion of a clear amount of fines in the contract, the involvement of the Sharia Supervisory Board, customer education, and the establishment of industry standards. The application of fair fines can be in the form of tiered fines, adjusted to the customer's ability, and accompanied by alternative fine options. Transparency and accountability of Islamic financial institutions are key to the sustainability of a fair and sharia-compliant Islamic pawnshop system.

Live and let LIV? Sportswashing, Donald Trump, and attitudes toward the future of professional golf

ABSTRACT LIV Golf, a startup sports league financed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, has come under fire since its launch 3 years ago. Opponents argue that it constitutes ‘sportswashing’ (funding athletics to distract international audiences from problematic policy positions, especially regarding human rights). LIV’s ties to courses owned by Donald Trump have only added to the domestic and international scrutiny. What costs do such claims and connections impose on LIV’s present and future? An original survey experiment in which 497 American participants receive varying amounts of information on LIV reveals that learning about sportswashing accusations damages both LIV’s institutional reputation and position in the media and sporting marketplace. Those exposed to such claims found LIV to be significantly more problematic, more political, and more dangerous than those who read nothing about sportswashing. They were also significantly less likely to want media to report on LIV, want media to air LIV programming, and believe LIV had the right to even compete with the PGA Tour. Such findings constitute evidence of the challenges LIV must navigate and counter as it looks to take root and flourish. Ties to the former president, on the other hand, appear to have no negative impact.

Innovative Strategies for Optimizing New Student Admissions in Madrasah Aliyah

This study aims to analyze and discusses strategies and innovations in the New Student Admissions (PPDB) System at MAN IC OKI. This type of research is field research with a qualitative approach. Data collection methods use observation, interviews, and documentation. Observation to observe the implementation process, interviews by asking questions related to policies, rules, and implementation, while documentation is to analyze various documents such as requirements and brochures. Data analysis methods use data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Research findings indicate that the strategies and innovations implemented successfully enhance the efficiency of the selection process and the quality of students admitted. Evaluation of these strategies shows a significant increase in the number of applicants and students admitted annually, as well as an improved public trust in the transparency and objectivity of the student admission system at the madrasah. Overall, MAN IC OKI has modernized the PPDB system through holistic and innovative strategies, ensuring that admitted students not only possess high academic quality but are also prepared to face challenges in the modern world. By continuing to develop these strategies, the school can further contribute to enhancing education in Indonesia through admitting highly competitive and character-driven students. The efficient and transparent admission of new students is crucial for maintaining the educational standards and reputation of institutions.

Does the leadership style influence the office politics in performance appraisal? Empirical study from Malaysian financial sector

Employees play a pivotal role in the Malaysian financial industry, as this sector requires individuals capable of meeting the demands of the global financial market and enhancing Malaysia's position as a leading international financial hub. Consequently, employees' behavior and practices can significantly impact the institution's reputation. Previous research has identified office politics as a detrimental factor in organizational performance, prompting this study to investigate the impact of leadership styles on organizational politics within the context of performance appraisal. A survey was conducted through the distribution of questionnaires among 274 officers and clerical staff, selected using proportionate stratified random sampling from a Malaysian government financial institution based in Kuala Lumpur. Of the distributed questionnaires, 105 were completed and deemed usable. The study identified three reliable dimensions of politics in performance appraisal: acquiring benefits, human relations, and control. In examining leadership styles, the study found that the integrative leadership style was the only reliable dimension. Correlation analysis revealed that integrative leadership style generally correlates significantly and negatively with politics in performance appraisal. Specifically, integrative leadership style had a significant negative impact on the human relations and control dimensions. Regression analysis further indicated that integrative leadership style significantly and negatively influenced only the control dimension of performance appraisal politics. The study discusses the implications of these findings for future research and practice, as well as the limitations of the current study.

Are menopausal symptoms a barrier to learning for healthcare students studying at higher education?: A contemporary issue

ProblemLittle is known about the impact of menopausal symptoms on healthcare students' ability to study at higher education level. BackgroundAttention on menopause is rapidly increasing in both the literature and media and is gaining political attention with particular focus on supporting those experiencing menopausal symptoms in the workplace. Policies are being developed to support individuals to remain in work for longer, reducing the number of people leaving the workplace due to challenging menopausal symptoms. However there is no evidence to suggest that support for higher education students experiencing menopausal symptoms is widespread. Whilst some higher education institutions and organisations are developing policies to support staff and, sometimes students, current literature does not reflect how students and their studies may be affected by menopausal symptoms. This is relevant to institutions where healthcare professions courses are delivered as this is thought to have contributed to the overall increase in the number of female students attending universities both in the UK and globally. A continued lack of understanding of menopausal symptoms' impact on students could not only be detrimental to the student experience, but it could also affect institutional reputations for being good places to study, resulting in increased attrition rates due to students withdrawing from courses because of the impact their symptoms have on their ability to continue studying. AimIn this Contemporary Issues article our aim is to raise awareness of how menopausal symptoms may affect a student's ability to study, and to reinforce the need for university policy makers and educators to recognise and support women at this turbulent time of their lives to continue to study.

Analisis Deskriptif Penerapan Kecerdasan Buatan, Prediksi Integritas, Kinerja Keuangan dan Ukuran Perusahaan di Perbankan Indonesia dan Singapura Tahun 2021 – 2023

This study aims to analyze the application of artificial intelligence, integrity prediction, financial performance, and company size in the Indonesian and Singapore banking sectors during the 2021-2023 period. Secondary data is used in this study, including annual reports, financial reports, and other relevant data sources. The quantitative descriptive method was applied to analyze the collected data. The results show that the adoption of artificial intelligence in the banking sector has had a positive impact on operational efficiency, fraud detection, and risk management. In addition, corporate integrity prediction plays an important role in maintaining the stability and reputation of financial institutions, with artificial intelligence technology assisting in detecting potential risks and fraudulent activities. This study also found that firm size, as measured by total assets, contributes significantly to bank financial performance. These findings make an important contribution to the literature and provide insights for policy makers and banking practitioners to optimize the use of artificial intelligence technology and integrity prediction in improving firm performance and competitiveness.

University Principals' and Directors' Perceptions of Faculty Professional Development Needs: A Qualitative Analysis

Effective leadership and management are indispensable for creating high-quality environments in educational institutions. They support and motivate faculty, ensure efficient teaching and learning, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. This way, effective management enhances the institution's overall academic performance and reputation. This qualitative study aimed to investigate the perception of university directors and principals regarding the need for professional development for faculty members. A total of seven directors and principals from different divisions and campuses of the University of Education, Lahore, were selected as a sample for the study using a purposive sampling technique. Semi-structured interviews were conducted to gain in-depth information from the directors and principals. The interviews were meticulously transcribed verbatim and subsequently translated into English. Thematic analysis was used to analyse the data after transcription. Researchers explored that principals and directors perceived professional development needs for the faculty in three significant domains including research-related professional development needs, teaching-related professional development needs, and collaboration-related professional development needs. The fulfillment of these needs can play an essential role in improving the ranking of the university as well as addressing the challenges of the 21st century. The university administration can address these needs by offering relevant PD opportunities and support to the faculty so they can engage themselves in research-related activities and seek collaboration to promote a research-oriented culture within the university.
