An Analytical Solution for Sales of Seafood in District Karang Agung Ilir

The advent of internet technology has profoundly transformed information dissemination and commerce by providing continuous, global access. For Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) such as the Seafood District of Karang Agung Ilir—specializing in seafood products like shrimp, crabs, and squid—reliance on traditional market-based sales methods limits customer reach and hampers growth potential. This paper investigates the development of an innovative online-based sales information system aimed at modernizing and significantly improving the operational efficiency of the Seafood District. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed system, a System Usability Scale (SUS) test was conducted with 50 participants. The results yielded an average SUS score of 72, indicating that the system offers good usability but also highlights areas requiring further enhancement. The online platform is designed to provide 24/7 accessibility, optimize the sales process, and broaden the customer base beyond the local market. The anticipated advantages of this digital transition include reduced operational costs, enhanced customer service, and increased sales volume. By adopting online technology, the Seafood District of Karang Agung Ilir stands to strengthen its market presence and boost its competitiveness on a global scale

Analysis and Design of Queue Service Information System Integrated with WhatsApp using UML Method

In the rapidly developing digital era, information systems have become an important element in increasing efficiency and effectiveness in various activities. As an important part of public services, queuing services withstand significant challenges in managing rapid population growth. Long waiting times and inefficient queue management can result in user dissatisfaction, increased workload for service providers, and potentially harm productivity. This research aims to overcome these challenges by identifying, pivoting, and creating an innovative information system integrated with the popular cross-platform application, WhatsApp. The main focus is automating queue service management to increase efficiency and user convenience. The resulting system is expected to provide significant changes in public services, reduce waiting times, and make queue management easier. The Unified Modeling Language (UML) methodology is used in the design of this system, providing systematic guidance to achieve these goals. In this research, we identify problems, user needs, functional requirements, and non-functional systems, including queue registration, queue management, user management, and service management. The results include use case diagrams, activity diagrams, sequence diagrams, and class diagrams, which provide a detailed overview of various aspects of the system. The results of this research can serve as a guide for application developers and demonstrate the benefits of UML in designing complex information systems.

Enhancing Organizational Culture and Productivity through Innovative Performance Appraisal: A Design Science Research Approach

Performance Appraisal is crucial for Human Resource Management (HRM) to determine compensation, enhance performance and develop competencies. Regular and comprehensive appraisals enable companies to devise effective strategies, boost productivity, and gain competitive advantage. The research aims to develop Performance Appraisal artifacts using Balanced Scorecard (BSC), 360°Feedback, and GE McKinsey 9 Box Matrix (GE Matrix), using Design Science (DS) research approach. This represents a novel contribution to the research. The implementation of the Design Science Research Method (DSRM) is described, emphasizing its focus on innovative information system designs to address practical organizational challenges. This study can be used as an additional reference for DS research on HRM.

Design and Implementation of an IIoT Driven Information System: A Case Study

AbstractInformation systems are critical for companies since they offer quick and easy access to complex and significant data in a structured manner to make informed and effective business decisions. Hence, the objective of this study is to conceptualize and implement an innovative information system in the case study organization. The study identified the requirements for Organizing Vision Theory (OVT) and developed architecture based on Organizational Information Processing Theory (OIPT). This architecture is designed and developed using the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) to support a self-organizing vision and enhanced information processing. The study’s contribution lies in developing and executing an integrative architecture of IIoT-driven information systems from the lenses of OVT and OIPT. Further, this study contributes by mapping OVT elements (such as transparency, continuity, and coherence) and OIPT elements (information processing needs and capabilities) to drive value and knowledge through a robust architecture of IIoT-driven information systems. The study also highlights the contribution of IIoT-based information systems to a new knowledge system, facilitating better decision-making by professionals.

Computer vision-based intelligent elevator information system for efficient demand-based operation and optimization

Occupancy and behavior in buildings are considered to be key factors influencing energy consumption. Residential areas contribute substantially to energy consumption in urban environments and have more regular users. Developing methods that can monitor building space utilization patterns and meet occupant comfort requirements is essential for urban energy efficiency. In this work, we propose an innovative computer vision-based Intelligent Elevator Information System (IEIS), which is based on a pipeline framework that sequentially implements elevator door state judgment, passenger attribute recognition, and duplicate-free traffic counting through re-recognition in order to give demand-based operational strategies and recommendations. By monitoring the elevator occupancy on a typical weekday, the elevator operation pattern is classified into three periods including peak period, idle period and balance period, and the demand-driven operation optimization is guided based on their corresponding characteristics. Experiments show that the proposed deep learning approach exhibits high accuracy in all stages of the pipeline. IEIS can facilitate energy-efficient management of elevators, ensure safety, provide human-centered services, and reduce the cost of human intervention while achieving efficient operation, and is expected to migrate to other scenario applications, bringing multiple potential benefits to the society.

Use case modeling in a research setting of developing an innovative pilgrimage support system

AbstractWith so much confusion around use case modeling, software developers may be reluctant to apply it. However, use cases are easy to apply and have great benefits even in research settings with nonprofessional software developers involved. We report on our experience on this within an innovative tourist information system developed in a research setting of an ongoing Horizon 2020 project named Promotion of Rural Museums and Heritage Sites in the Vicinity of European Pilgrimage Routes (rurAllure). The resulting use case model comprises forty use cases supported by class diagrams, use case diagrams, sequence diagrams, as well as by the domain model and dictionary. Three quarters of use cases have been implemented at least to some extent. Writing use cases provoked intense communication, which helped consolidate the system architecture. The use cases helped validate and better understand the GUI form wireframes designed beforehand and get quickly to a consistent implementation of the system that can be experimented with further in different ways. Finally, the forthcoming extensive system and user experience testing will be guided by the use case model. The paper also exposes the domain model and dictionary along with selected use cases and the hierarchy of user and system actors, which may be useful as such or as a stimulus for the development of other innovative tourist information systems.

The concept of a closed resource cycle using an innovative information system for the development of bioenergy

RELEVANCE. The impossibility of using existing information systems, such as territorial waste management schemes (TSOs) to form a balance of supply and demand. TSOs do not allow us to identify the volume of demand and supply for processing technologies, and equipment manufacturers are not focused on understanding the balance of demand across the country. Technological development in terms of creating new facilities for energy waste processing requires justification of prospects for investment.THE PURPOSE. Develop the concept of a closed resource cycle using information flows aimed at identifying participants in the process. The desired tool should provide an understanding of the need for the production of bioenergy equipment, the potential for demand for R&D, as well as the formation of state programs to support the creation of enterprises for the processing of municipal solid waste (MSW) and the production of bioenergy equipment.METHODS. The development of the concept of a closed resource cycle is characterized by the design of the concept, which includes the methods of divergence, transformation, and convergence.RESULTS. The paper describes the relevance of the topic associated with the impossibility of using existing information systems such as territorial waste management schemes (TSMS) to form a balance of supply and demand for processing technologies. Potential participants in the formation of a closed resource cycle throughout the life cycle of a waste processing project are identified, with the role of participants and the links between them, as well as the characteristics of the information flow of each participant, identified. A concept is proposed based on the formation of an information system in which each participant can maximize their needs for resources and effect.CONCLUSION. The proposed system makes it possible to improve the existing waste management system, ensures the return of generated waste to the resource cycle. systems - the balance of generated and recycled waste. The main difference between the proposed system and the federal state information system for accounting and control of waste management of classes I and II is the principle of operation - the system is based on the source of waste generation, ensuring the balance of generating and processed waste.

Comparative analysis showcases the system's accuracy and user-friendliness, setting it apart from traditional methods and existing digital alternatives. Collectively, these findings underscore a new era in pharmacy management, one defined by technological innovation, precision, and improved patient care. The "Medz" system emerges as a beacon of progress, illustrating the transformative power of technology in enhancing healthcare efficiency and efficacy.

DEVELOPMENT OF THE INNOVATIVE INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION SYSTEM OF CHINA AND UKRAINE AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION

Agriculture is one of the key branches of the country's economy, as it provides the population with food, raw materials and other resources. Particularly important is the role of innovative information and communication technologies in the development of agricultural production, which allow optimizing production processes, increasing productivity and efficiency, as well as ensuring sustainability in the development of the agricultural sector. The research used general scientific (generalization, comparison, induction and deduction) and empirical-theoretical methods (analysis, synthesis). The use of system-structural and comparative analysis made it possible to distinguish the main features of the development of the innovative information and communication system of agricultural production in China and Ukraine. It was found that the use of Internet technologies in agriculture contributes to solving various problems in the field of food security. It has been established that China has a much more developed agricultural sector, modern infrastructure, large production capacity and actively uses innovations. It was determined that Ukraine faced a number of problems: outdated infrastructure, insufficient financial resources for the development of agriculture and insufficient state support, however, it has prospects for the development of organic production and the domestic market for the sale of agricultural products, which may become important factors for its development in the future . It has been established that the innovative information and communication system in China's agriculture is a key factor in achieving sustainable development, ensuring food security and growing the country's economy. Based on the analysis, conclusions and recommendations were formulated regarding the improvement of agricultural development and the introduction of an innovative information and communication system in Ukraine. It was found that borrowing the experience of China (from the use of modern ICS technologies, such as artificial intelligence, big data, the Internet of Things and cloud technologies; GPS navigation systems for more accurate sowing of seeds and application of fertilizers in accordance with the needs of the land; unmanned aerial vehicle systems in pre-sowing soil cultivation, fertilizer application, pest control and other aspects; soil testing systems; crop growth monitoring systems, etc.) taking into account its successes in the agricultural sector and the application of innovative approaches, will help to ensure a more successful development of agriculture in Ukraine, however, when implementing of China's experience, Ukraine must take into account its own conditions and peculiarities, since the cultural, economic and political contexts of both countries are different.

ETHOS: a web-based tax morale system

In this paper, an innovative web-based cross-platform information system, named eTHOS, is introduced allowing citizens to either report various complaints, in real-time, about tax evasion incidents, or to highlight good tax behavior practices. This is achieved through the creation of interactive maps that highlight geospatial financial factors for the general public. The main purpose of the system is to capture specific information which will be used in order to understand the various tax morale approaches that lead citizens to file a report (complaint or suggestions for reward) based on their interaction with businesses. Furthermore, the new proposed system aims to gain an operational role as the first citizen oriented digital tool against tax evasion. The contribution of eTHOS to the economy could be important, since it could lead to the containment of tax evasion and the decrease of the VAT Gaps.

The effects of digital nativity on nonvolitional routine and innovative usage

PurposeThis study explores the differences between digital immigrants (DIs) and digital natives (DNs) in the continuance of routine and innovative information system use.Design/methodology/approachA quantitative survey was conducted with two different samples comprising 100 DIs and 152 DNs in mandatory information system use contexts. Data were analyzed with structural equation modeling to examine the hypothesized relationships in the research model.FindingsResults revealed differences among digital nativity groups. The effect of confirmation of expectations about system use on satisfaction is stronger for DNs whereas the effect on task–technology fit (TTF) is similar in both digital groups. Interestingly, significant differences between digital nativity groups occur in routine use. For DIs, TTF and habit are significant while for DNs, satisfaction significantly affects routine use. The results show no difference between digital native groups regarding innovative use.Originality/valueThis study extends the concept of digital nativity to routine and innovative system use, contributing to an enhanced understanding about the differences in information systems continuance (ISC) based on digital nativity. It also provides a fine-grained discussion of how to classify digital nativity and its impact in working contexts and extends the IS continuance model by considering two types of IS usage.

Innovative foundations for optimizing the information and communication system of local government

The article is devoted to the study of innovative methods of optimizing the information and communication system of the local government of Ukraine in the changing conditions of nowadays. The main problem of the article is due to the need to eliminate the inconsistency of the modern unsatisfactory state of development of information support for the provision of public services by local self-government bodies of the territories of Ukraine with the requirements of Ukrainian society and the standards of European developed countries. The definition of the category “innovative municipal administration” has been clarified. Specific features of public service provision are defined according to four criteria (“service provision,” “restrictions,” “service concentration,” “monopoly of services”), which disclose their essence and main areas of improvement. The author's definition of the category “public service” is given. It was found that effective servicing of the needs of civil society and economic entities is impossible without the involvement of information systems and technologies and requires the implementation of systematic information support for the management and service activities of local self-government bodies. An innovative information and communication system has been formed to ensure the activities of local self-government bodies in the provision of public services.

A Framework for Dynamic Advanced Traveler Information Systems

This paper presents the framework for a dynamic Advanced Traveler Information System (ATIS). The ATIS currently in use provides users with stereotyped travel options, but the set of available modes in a given place and time is not the same for each traveler, and such a personal choice set varies within the context of daily trip chains. The research presented in this paper addressed these limitations by including dynamic features in the proposed system. The activity chain that the user performs as well as the personal mode availabilities are modelled simultaneously to define the logical architecture of an innovative information system. Such a technology was intended to assist travelers in performing their daily trip chaining. In order to provide some insight regarding the efficacy of the proposed procedure, a pilot test was performed using real travel time information. Results have shown that the ATIS proposed in this study might generate a significant reduction in travel times.

COVID-19: Comparison of the Response in Rwanda, South Africa and Zimbabwe

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact worldwide with regions experiencing varying degrees of severity. African countries have mounted different response strategies eliciting varied outcomes. Here, we compare these response strategies in Rwanda, South Africa and Zimbabwe and discuss lessons that could be shared. In particular, Rwanda has a robust and coordinated national health system that has effectively contained the epidemic. South Africa has considerable testing capacity, which has been used productively in a national response largely funded by local resources but affected negatively by corruption. Zimbabwe has an effective point-of-entry approach that utilizes an innovative strategic information system. All three countries would benefit having routine meetings to share experiences and lessons learned during the COVD-19 pandemic.

An online emergency medical management information system using mobile computing

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the way technology affects the provision of prehospital emergency care, upgrading the quality of services offered and significantly reducing the risk of premature termination of the patients. Design/methodology/approach The paper presents the development of the eEKAB, a pilot emergency medical information system that simulates the main services offered by the Greek National Instant Aid Centre (EKAB). The eEKAB was developed on an agile system methodology. From a technical perspective, the features and the technology were mainly chosen to provide reliable and user-friendly interfaces that will attract many users. eEKAB is based on three important pillars for offering health care to the patients: the “On-time Incident Reporting”, the “On-time Arrival at the Incident” and “Transfer to the Health Center”. According to the literature review, the emergency medical services (EMS) systems that combine all the features are very few. Findings It reduces the total time of the EMS procedures and it allows for an easier management of EMS, by providing a better allocation of human resources and a better geographical distribution of ambulances. The evaluation displayed that it is a very helpful application for the ambulance drivers as it reduces the ambulance response time to arrive in the patient's location and contributes significantly to the general performance of the prehospital medical care system. Also, the survey verified the importance of implementing eEKAB on a larger scale beyond the pilot usage. It is worth mentioning that the younger ambulance drivers had a more positive view for the purpose of the application. Research limitations/implications The paper clearly identifies implications for further research. Regarding interoperability, the mobile app cooperates with the Operational Center of EKAB, while further collaboration could be achieved with other operational ambulance handling center, mainly, of the private sector. The system can evolve to include better communications among the EKAB departments. Particularly, the ambulance crew as well as the doctors should be informed with more incident features such as the emergency signal so that they know whether to open the siren, the patient's name, etc. The authors are currently working on implementing some features to provide effective medical health services to the patient in the ambulance. Practical implications eEKAB will have very significant implications in case of its enforcement, such as the reduction of the total time of EMS procedures with a corresponding reduction of the operating costs of an accident management system and an ambulance fleet handling system while in parallel informing in time the doctors/clinics. It will provide better distribution of ambulances as well as of total human resources. It will greatly assist ambulance drivers, while reducing ambulance response time to reach the patient's location. In other words, the authors will have a better performance of the whole prehospital care system. Social implications Providing emergency care before the hospital is of great importance for upgrading the quality of health services provided at the accident site, thus significantly reducing the risk of premature death of patients. This in itself has a significant social implication. Originality/value The paper demonstrates a solid understanding in the field of the EMS systems and the corresponding medical services offered. It proposes the development of an effective, feasible and innovative EMS information system that will improve the existing emergency health care system in Greece (EKAB). An in depth literature review and presentation of the adopted new technologies and the respective architecture take place. An evaluation and statistical validation were conducted for proving the high applicability of eEKAB in case of real-life running.

Formulating a GIS-based geometric design quality assessment model for Mountain highways

Highways play an important role in China’s economic development, especially in mountainous regions. In reality, design of mountainous highways can be a challenging task due to complex geological and topographic conditions. From the safety perspective, it is also important that road geometric design defects and potential accident blind spots can be reasonably identified from the design. To this end, this study formulated an innovative Geographic Information System (GIS)-based geometric design quality assessment model for mountain highways. First, a fault tree analysis (FTA) was conducted to identify a series of highway design risk factors. Second, a decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) technique was employed to derive the factors’ weight and sensitivity. Third, road driving suitability, traffic safety sensitivity, design risk factors, and effective distance were taken into account to formulate a design quality assessment model. Forth, two case studies based on a mountainous highway located in southwest China were conducted to validate this model. The case studies established that improving geometric design quality can significantly improve the road traffic safety of mountainous highways. It is also revealed that the existence of steep slopes, tunnels, and rapid horizontal and vertical alignment change can considerably compromise the geometric design quality (GDQ), therefore, configuring these parameters is worth of further investigation. Last but not least, this study provides essential knowledge to the regime of accident prevention, high-risk road section location and mapping, traffic safety management, and design of smart transport systems.

The Impact of Product Quality and Service Quality in Product-Service System on Economic Value : Focusing on Mediating Effect of Experience Value for Electronic Shelf Labels

In recent years, Electronic Shelf Labels (ESL) is attracting attention as an innovative price information system for offline retail stores. Paper price labels, which have been used in retail stores for a long time, are an inefficient system in delivering price and product promotion information to shoppers. The paper price label system, which is produced solely by the hand of the employees, does not provide a satisfactory experience to shoppers by frequently creating situations where inaccurate prices are displayed or prices are not announced in a timely manner. Moreover, as a large part of the work time is spent on replacing the paper price label, the productivity of the employees is lowered and the job satisfaction level is also lowered. This study aims to present indicators and models for measuring the performance of ESL system, which has recently begun to be introduced as an infrastructure for operation innovation of price information in offline retail stores. To this end, Product Quality and Service Quality factors based on ESL attributes were derived through previous studies and used as independent variables, and items related to Economic Value, one of the PSS value factors, were used as dependent variables as performance indicators. And, as mediators, the elements of Experience Value were defined from the perspective of ESL users. As a research method, a structural equation model was used to analyze the data collected from the employees of medium-sized stores of the large-scale brands that introduced ESL in Korea. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that Experience Value was completely mediated in the relationship between Product Quality and Economic Value. On the other hand, Experience Value was partially mediated in the relationship between Service Quality and Economic Value. According to the results of these, it was found that the product quality attributes of ESL have low influences on directly solving the problems of the existing price information operation, but it can affect performance through the user’s individual use experience. In contrast, Service Quality has the direct effects on performance by including the operating factors of ESL. This study developed the measurement indicators through previous researches on ‘Product Quality’, ‘Service Quality’, ‘PSS’, and ‘Experience Value’ in grasping the introduction performance of ESL. Survey data was collected from retailers who introduced ESL in Korea. This study suggests the significant academic implications in that the results of research reflecting the PSS attributes of ESL were derived through the analysis of the collected data. In addition, the results present as the practical implications that ESL suppliers and retailers must make strategies and efforts to improve the experience value and service quality of products in order to enhance the performance of ESL introduction. In particular, in the context of intensifying competition with online/mobile shopping malls today, this study has implications in that it deals with the introduction results of ESL, an automated system for delivering price information, from the viewpoint of enhancing the productivity of offline retail stores. This study has significance as an early empirical study on ESL. It is expected that there will be follow-up studies targeting stores in various sizes, types, and regions in the future.

The Electronic FieldBook: A system for supporting distributed field science operations during astronaut training and human planetary exploration

Scientific exploration will play an important role in future human missions to the Moon and Mars. Extra-Vehicular Activities (EVA) on the surface of these objects will be supported by a host of technologies driving operations and data collection. In order to enhance the scientific return of each EVA and utilise expertise located on Earth, it is necessary to record, index and store all the scientific information collected on a planetary surface, and rapidly distribute it amongst the relevant mission support personnel in a structured way. How this information is stored and shared amongst mission support elements will make a significant difference to the feedback that can be provided to EVA teams before, during, and after exploratory EVAs. The Electronic Fieldbook (EFB) is an innovative information system, developed by the European Space Agency (ESA) in the context of their astronaut field training courses and test campaigns, composed of deployable hardware and software designed to fulfil this role. The system uses peer-to-peer networking and mesh protocols to provide disruption tolerant data transmission, as well as information harmonisation and sharing among all system users. Its software stack is platform agnostic, and the system is able to interface with external instruments and tools to gather and centralise data. A combination of commercial off the shelf and custom hardware currently supports the EFB network and interfaces. Users can collect scientific data and document sampling procedures through attaching images, instrument readings, written and audio notes, and other metadata, and have it automatically distributed to all authorised users across its network. Through this system, the EFB enables real-time situational awareness to all science instructors and simulated mission support positions, such as mission control, science backrooms, and Intra-Vehicular crew. The EFB has been developed in the context of the CAVES and PANGAEA astronaut training programmes developed by ESA and is targeting deployment in future lunar and Martian human exploration missions.
