ANALYSIS OF MACHINING PROCESS IN INJECTION MOULDING USING PLC AND PROCESS PARAMETERS

Injection moulding is most advanced manufacturing technique for the manufacture of plastic parts with high accuracy, complexity and speed is injection moulding. A plastic pallet is heated by a heating element, then a mould cavity is filled with molten metal using a high-pressure injection technique with the help of a screw, and the final component is formed when the plastic has cooled and solidified. The injection moulding process is incredibly flexible and may be used to produce components with intricate geometries and precise tolerances. The layout of moulds, material demand and processing parameters are only a few of the complex factors that move in the complex way of injection moulding. Using PLC we can easily automate the process. In addition to how to improve process parameters and its solution to work efficiently. Industrial automation has become essential. The programmable logic controller (PLC) is a programming system used for automation. It is a user-friendly, specially designed computer with microprocessors that performs various types and complexity of control tasks. The aim is to monitor key process variables and modify operations as needed. PLC is used to automate manufacturing and assembly in the industrial context. The study focuses on the automation of injection moulding machines using PLCs and pneumatic cylinders. There are four cylinders, each representing different tasks. The four steps of this process include the clamping and dissolving of the die, the opening and closing of the die. The injection of plastic materials while they are still melted, and finally the ejection of the components.

Study on a New Classification of Causes which Generate Deffects of Injection Molding Products

In this paper we present a study that was conducted to determine the classification of causes that generate defects in products obtained by injection of plastic material. A classification of the causes of defects is made by applying a quality management tool - the Ishikawa diagram. The causes are grouped into M categories, for defects generated by the design process and for defects generated by the injection process. A new model of the diagram is created by composing two fish skeletons (model 4M + 5M). At the end of the paper, the importance of the Ishikawa diagram is shown.

Transport Phenomena in "Liquid Wood" Treated with a Complex Fluid Using the Scale Relativity

Materials are the main substances that have an important effect on company development and require some simple or complex manufacturing technologies. The future use of recyclable materials will become an extremely important factor in all fields of activity. Therefore, "liquid wood", due to its biodegradability and mechanical properties superior to other plastics, could replace some plastic materials in the near future. The injected parts can be obtained using the same injection machines used for the injection of plastic materials. The technological injection parameters such as: injection pressure, injection time, cooling time, mold temperature, etc. are different. A new study of transport fenomena in liquid wood treated with the complex fluid is proposed considering that the complex fluid and agents moving in continuous and non-differentiable curves (fractal curves). Within this framework, the transport equations of mass, energy and impulse are obtained and the fundamental theorems of complex fluid are established at well. In the end, our model and the classical results are correlated.

Shaping a thermoplastic object in the desired form without costly mechanical processing

In the field of RPT (rapid prototyping technologies), one of most limiting constraints is the restricted choice of possible materials. The state of the art is such that material choice is heavily dependent on process type, so that, except in a very few cases, the realized prototypes can only give, to the end-user, information about shape and design, or represent no more than a single step in a rapid prototyping process (as in the case of models in polycarbonate, produced with SLS techniques for quick casting). The problem is more acute for injection of plastic materials, because of the large number of available raw materials. In such cases, the only way to obtain a functional prototype, i.e. one produced both with the chosen material and injection method, consists of the realization of a test mold. Note that even though techniques such as high speed milling do indeed reduce the time-to-market, they however, weigh heavily on the budget. This project demonstrates that it is possible, for the case of thermoplastic products, to eliminate the intrinsic limitations that derive from the restricted choice of available materials for rapid prototyping. A process has been implemented which allows injection of different thermoplastic materials into a mold, realized with ceramic powder not yet sinterized. Practical results show that it is possible to shape a thermoplastic object in the desired form without costly mechanical processing.

Plastic injection injury of the hand

A unique case of injection of plastic material into the hand is reported. Treatment was simple because the molten plastic solidified, separated readily from the surrounding tissues and could be withdrawn without fragmentation. There was no evidence of serious damage to the surrounding tissues by the plastic before it had cooled and set. The mechanism of the injury is explained and the need for simple safety precautions is noted.
