The development and impact of an app for a smart drug interaction reminder system.

Improved access to media and medical knowledge has elicited stronger public health awareness. This study developed a smart drug interaction reminder system for patients to increase knowledge and reduce nurse workload. This study used a single-group pre-test/post-test design and applied mining techniques to analyze the weight and probability of interaction among various medicines. Data were collected from 258 participants at a teaching hospital in northern Taiwan using convenience sampling. An app was used to give patients real-time feedback to obtain access to information and remind them of their health issues. In addition to guiding the patients on medications, this app measured the nurses' work satisfaction and patients' knowledge of drug interaction. The results indicate that using information technology products to assist the app's real-time feedback system promoted nurses' work satisfaction, improved their health education skills, and helped patients to better understand drug interactions. Using information technology to provide patients with real-time inquiring functions has a significant effect on nurses' load reduction. Thus, smart drug interaction reminder system apps can be considered suitable nursing health education tools and the SDINRS app can be integrated into quantitative structure-activity relationship intelligence in the future.

A novel user-generated content-driven and Kano model focused framework to explore the impact mechanism of continuance intention to use mobile APPs

User-generated content (UGC), which generates vast amounts of content in real-time through social networks, offers a significant opportunity for mining new knowledge. The survival of information technology products such as mobile APPs (mAPPs) depends on continuance. The exploration of the impact mechanism underlying continuance intention is crucial given the low continued usage of many mAPPs. Mining real-world UGC provides an efficient approach for user experience and product evaluation compared to traditional interviews or surveys. This study proposes a novel UGC-driven, Kano model focused, pipelined framework to automatically identify impact factors and determine the impact mechanism underlying continuance intention. The above method framework involves unsupervised clustering text analysis to identify user needs and product functions from UGC, followed by the construction of a statistical model to explore the relationship between these factors and user satisfaction and dissatisfaction (Kano model). Additionally, a model to distinguish the attributes of factors that significantly affect satisfaction or dissatisfaction is proposed. Finally, user satisfaction and dissatisfaction are used as mediators to build models of continuance and discontinuance intention. Empirical validation of the proposed method is conducted with a case study of mobile health apps, involving the mining of 86,423 user reviews and structural equation modeling based on 1025 user responses. The results indicate that the UGC-driven method effectively explores the impact mechanism of continuance and discontinuance intention.

An integrated system theoretic process analysis with multilevel flow modeling for the identification of cyber‐physical hazards in a process industry

AbstractThe deep integration of information technology and process industry production systems makes system failure increasingly multi‐source and multi‐scale. In contrast to conventional hazard methods, system theoretic process analysis (STPA) can analyze the hazards in system control processes from the perspective of interactions among the system components. Theoretically, this method offers advantages that are better suited for modern production systems. However, as of now, the integration between STPA and process industrial production systems is still lacking. To address this issue, this study improved the original STPA method. First, we propose the “5 flows” concept for the process industrial cyber‐physical systems. The systems are described using multilevel flow modeling (MFM). This leads to the development of the MSTPA method, which is specifically designed to analyze the cyber‐physical hazards in process industrial production systems. Subsequently, the cyber‐physical hazards of a fluidized‐bed catalytic cracking unit are analyzed in detail using the MSTPA method as an example. The results show that MSTPA can identify cyber‐physical hazards in multiple dimensions. It is proved that, compared with the original STPA and traditional hazard methods, the MSTPA method can better identify cyber‐physical hazards in process industrial production systems.

ImageAssist: A Novel Smartphone Application for Standardized Clinical Photography That Implements and Automates American Society of Plastic Surgery/Plastic Surgery Foundation Photographic Guidelines With Background Deletion.

Standardized medical photography of the face is a vital part of patient documentation, clinical evaluation, and scholarly dissemination. Because digital photography is a mainstay in clinical care, there is a critical need for an easy-to-use mobile device application that could assist users in taking a standardized clinical photograph. ImageAssist was developed to answer this need. The mobile application is integrated into the electronic medical record (EMR); it implements and automates American Society of Plastic Surgery/Plastic Surgery Research Foundation photographic guidelines with background deletion. A team consisting of a craniofacial plastic surgeon and the Health Information Technology product group developed and implemented the pilot application of ImageAssist. The application launches directly from patients' chart in the mobile version of the EMR, EPIC Haiku (Verona, Wisconsin). Standard views of the face (90-degree, oblique left and right, front and basal view) were built into digital templates and are user selected. Red digital frames overlay the patients' face on the screen and turn green once standardized alignment is achieved, prompting the user to capture. The background is then digitally subtracted to a standard blue, and the photograph is not stored on the user's phone. ImageAssist initial beta user group was limited to 13 providers across dermatology, ENT, and plastic surgery. A mix of physicians, advanced practice providers, and nurses was included to pilot the application in the outpatient clinic setting using Image Assist on their smart phone. After using the app, an internal survey was used to gain feedback on the user experience. In the first 2 years of use, 31 users have taken more than 3400 photographs in more than 800 clinical encounters. Since initial release, automated background deletion also has been functional for any anatomic area. ImageAssist is a novel smartphone application that standardizes clinical photography and integrated into the EMR, which could save both time and expense for clinicians seeking to take consistent clinical images. Future steps include continued refinement of current image capture functionality and development of a stand-alone mobile device application.

Trade-war Tariffs and Supply Chain Trade

Abstract Although Chinese exports to the United States hit an all-time high in 2022, it would be incorrect to conclude that the U.S.–China trade war had no effects on trade. By exploiting fine product-level information on trade war tariffs, this paper demonstrates how the trade war diminished China's exports to the United States in tariff-impeded products, while expanding opportunities for exports from other countries in a fashion that had some systematic characteristics. First, the impact of the trade war tariffs was not immediate, as trade responses took place with a lag. Second, the responses to trade-war tariffs were heterogenous across countries and regions, with finer distinctions by product categories. Finally, trade that could be viewed as highly tied to global value chains (GVCs), such as trade in information and communication technology products, exhibited stronger reactions to the imposition of trade-war tariffs. These responses, and their implications for the organization of global supply chains, are discussed considering current trade concerns.

Managing Strategic Tensions in the Development of Organizational Ecosystems

The paper explores the key strategic tensions in the development of organizational ecosystems as well as the applied responses. It presents a conceptual overview of the key tension areas faced by the coordinators of complex inter-organizational systems and the results of empirical case studies conducted in knowledge-intensive industrial clusters in Lithuania (in the fields of high-technologies, information and communications technology, medical innovations and wellness products, cinema and game industries, machinery production and tourism). The research presented in the paper identifies eight strategic tensions faced by the leaders responsible for the development of organizational ecosystems: (1) focused interventionism vs. self-organization; (2) hierarchy-based structures vs. network-based (eco)systems; (3) under-connectedness vs. over-connectedness; (4) central rules vs. emerging metanorms; (5) short-term vs. long-term orientation; (6) focus on elements vs. relationships in the system; (7) big wins vs. small wins; and (8) exploitation vs. exploration. Case studies and expert interviews with the coordinators of different industrial clusters revealed the diversity of adopted approaches. The more mature the social and industrial context of the industrial cluster is, the less pronounced are the strategic tensions, and there is less need for focused interventions. In cases where such interventions are needed, the leaders of ecosystems adopt one of the following approaches: (1) take a position on one of the extremes by seeking to leverage the situation; (2) adopt a trade-off approach by seeking a point of balance; (3) capitalize on both extremes at the same time. The adopted approach may vary from one strategic tension to another within the same organizational ecosystem.

Unlocking the relationship between ambidextrous leadership style and HRM practices in knowledge-intensive SMES

PurposeThis paper aims to explore the relationship between owner-manager or leader’s ambidextrous leadership style and its effect on human resource management (HRM) practices, contextual ambidexterity and knowledge-intensive small- and medium-enterprises (SMEs) strategic agility.Design/methodology/approachThis study presents an in-depth qualitative case study analysis of two knowledge-intensive SMEs from India’s information technology and health-care products industry serving a range of global clients. Using the theoretical lenses of empowerment-focused HRM practices, ambidextrous leaders, contextual ambidexterity and strategic agility, semi-structured interview data of leaders, managers and employees of the case organizations were analysed. Through a two-staged analytical process, we abductively developed a novel conceptual framework at the intersection of the above theoretical lenses.FindingsThe findings suggest that the knowledge-intensive SME’s strategic agility, ambidexterity and empowerment-focussed HRM approach was influenced by the owner-manager or leader’s ambidextrous leadership style and their philosophy towards managing people and had a positive impact in creating a culture of trust, participation, risk-taking and openness, and led to delivering innovative products and services as well as several positive employee-level outcomes.Originality/valueRecent literature reviews on HRM In SMEs highlight several gaps, including the impact of owner-manager or leader’s philosophy of managing people in shaping HRM practices and employee outcomes. This paper thus adds to the existing literature on HRM and knowledge-intensive SMEs.

Information and communication technology and labour productivity growth: a production‐frontier approach

This work provides evidence of the positive impact of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) on the labour productivity growth of 24 countries, members of the OECD, from 1995 to 2019. Using a non-parametric production‐frontier approach, we decompose labour productivity growth into components attributable to technological change (shifts in the world production frontier), efficiency change (movements toward or away from the frontier), physical (non-ICT) capital change and ICT capital change (movements along the frontier). We find that, on average, the most significant improvement in worldwide labour productivity is attributable to technological change, non-ICT, and ICT capital change over 1995–2019. In addition, we confirm the role of ICT as a general-purpose technology that needs to implement complementary changes in business organisations to exploit its growth opportunities fully. Finally, we conclude that ICT capital contributes to convergence.

A system dynamics approach to building counterfeit avoidance programs

Recent disruptions and shortages across the global supply chain have heightened awareness of resiliency and security risks for consumers, industry, and consumers. Of particular concern is the rise in counterfeit information and communication technology (ICT) products. Commonly used technology solutions to avoid counterfeit are cost prohibitive to small-medium enterprises (SME), leading to an increased security, cost, and reputational risks to these firms. This research develops a novel mathematical model to illustrate how minor purchasing decisions can compromise the integrity of a supply chain and network infrastructure. We conduct interviews with industry leaders to understand why counterfeit ICT continues to be purchased by industry. We then construct a system dynamics (SD) model to illustrate the model is applied to a case study based on a US government contract and evaluated. The findings show even a short-term use of an untrusted supplier can result in significant quantities of counterfeit ICT being purchased. Finally, we propose a new framework to support SMEs developing a counterfeit ICT abatement program.

This article examines the role and advantages of a professional historian in the context of tasks related to the internationalization of information technology (IT) resources. Building on the premise that globalization processes require a comprehensive approach to adapting IT products to the cultural and social specificities of various countries and regions, the author argues that historical knowledge can serve as a reliable foundation for developing internationalization strategies. Particular attention is given to historians’ analytical abilities, their deep understanding of cultural and historical contexts, language skills, and the capacity for ethical and politically correct reviewing, which are critically important for successful localization and cultural adaptation of IT resources. The analysis explores how historical knowledge and methodological approaches can be integrated into the development and implementation processes of IT resources, as well as into procedures for assessing their effectiveness in the international market. The potential of historical science in predicting future societal trends and adapting technological innovations to these trends is addressed. The importance of an interdisciplinary approach in the modern globalized world is emphasized, where historical science not only serves as a means of understanding the past but also as a tool for effective adaptation and internationalization of electronic resources. The author argues that professional historians can play a key role in developing global strategies for the IT sector, contributing to the creation of inclusive, culturally adapted technological solutions that take into account the historical experience and cultural peculiarities of different peoples. The discussion includes how historical knowledge helps identify potential risks and opportunities associated with entering new markets, and how this knowledge can facilitate the development of more adapted and acceptable strategies for intercultural communication and interaction.

Information Technology Ethics, a Key Ingredient to Human Survival

Information Technology (IT) as a field of computing has been in existence since the 1990s. Though it has been with us for a short time, the field has changed how society handles different tasks be it in communication, interactions, and knowledge sharing among others. IT ethics has also been gaining popularity and attracting a lot of attention from researchers to ensure IT has been used for the betterment of our societies. The field of IT is continuously evolving, and new technologies are being developed each day to respond to current and future societal needs. It is therefore important to ensure ethical IT aligns with these as new technologies will introduce a new way of interacting with society, hence needs to ensure it conforms to society’s ethics. This paper reviews how ethical IT has shaped the field of IT, where and how it has been applied to ensure IT products and resources are well used for the well-being of mankind. Since IT is evolving, the paper will also review and project the future of IT, some of its common trends and how ethical IT should evolve to respond to these new developments.

Workshop Membangun Perusahaan Perseorangan Untuk Usaha Bidang IT Untuk Mahasiswa Semester Akhir Universitas Bhayangkara Jakarta Raya

The community service activity entitled "Workshop on Building Individual Companies for Businesses in the IT Sector for Final Semester Students at Bhayangkara University, Jakarta Raya" is a real effort to increase the knowledge and skills of final semester students in planning and managing individual companies in the Information Technology (IT) sector. This workshop aims to provide practical guidance in starting an IT company, introduce the legal aspects of IT business, and invite students to apply their knowledge in real situations. This activity covers various relevant topics, such as business planning, IT product development, financial management, marketing strategy, and legal aspects related to IT business. In addition, the workshop also involved experienced IT practitioners and entrepreneurs as guest speakers, who provided invaluable practical insights. The results of this workshop reflect an increase in participants' understanding and skills in planning and starting an IT business. Participants have a better understanding of the process of registering a private company online via the AHU website and the importance of registering for a Kemenkumham permit. This workshop not only improves conceptual understanding, but also provides practical skills that can be applied in the real world. Thus, this workshop has a positive impact on the development of entrepreneurship among final semester students at Bhayangkara University, Jakarta Raya. Furthermore, sustainability evaluations and follow-up steps are needed to ensure that the knowledge and skills acquired remain sustainable and support students in their efforts to become entrepreneurs in the IT industry.

Mobile business apps and employee productivity

PurposeHoping to increase the productivity of their employees, firms provide and expect their employees to use approved mobile apps. However, despite an intuitive appeal, the relationship between information technology usage and productivity is still seen as paradoxical. This study examines the relationship between employees' experience and engagement with business mobile apps provided by employers and its effects on employee work productivity.Design/methodology/approachData from respondents who use employer-provided business apps were used to test the hypotheses. Measurement-corrected latent scores extracted from the PLS measurement evaluation were used in regression-centric assessment using PROCESS.FindingsResults indicate that employee-users’ experience-based attributions of the business app, i.e. customization, performance quality and compatibility, have positive effects on productivity mediated by participation intensity. Further, work type (retail vs non-retail) and the depth of the employee user’s experience moderate experience-based attributions' indirect effects on productivity.Originality/valueUnlike previous studies delving into this topic, this study focuses solely on the mediation and moderation effects for hypothesis testing. Specifically, this study investigates effects conditional on work type (retail vs non-retail), which the authors believe has significant implications for retailing. These findings have interesting implications for both future research and managers.

Health care system in terms of digitalization and reforming financing

The article is devoted to issues of the digital economy, which is its own trend in modern economics and management. The path to the digital economy is through the internal market of production, use and consumption of information, communication and digital technologies. The digital economy is based on information and communication and digital technologies, the rapid development and spread of which already affect the traditional (physical-analog) economy today, transforming it from one that consumes resources to one that creates resources. It is data that is the key resource of the digital economy, it is generated and provides electronic communication interaction due to the functioning of electronic and digital devices, means and systems.
 It has been proven that the digital economy is mediated by digitization, which means saturating the physical world with electronic-digital devices, means, systems and establishing electronic- communication exchange between them, which in fact provides an integral interaction of the virtual and physical, that is, creates a cyber-physical space.
 The provisions of the Concept of Development of the Digital Economy and Society of Ukraine in the area of healthcare and medicine are analyzed. Supported the position that an element of the development of digital medicine is the introduction of a telesystem for providing remote medical services to citizens and supporting the work of doctors, especially in rural areas.
 The concept «health care» is considered through the prism of a system of measures aimed at preserving and restoring physiological and psychological functions, optimal working capacity and social activity of a person with maximum biological provision of the individual length of his life.
 The set of such concepts as «electronic health care system» and «electronic health care» are considered.
 It is argued that the budgetary financing of the health care sector should take into account expenses for the purchase of equipment, software, technical support, etc. Part of the relevant expenses can be covered not by the expense of budget funds, but by the expense of various types of grants, fundraising funds.

RELIGIOUS DIGITAL LITERACY OF URBAN MUSLIM SOCIETY IN INDONESIA: A SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW

The current era of disruption is marked with the rapid flow of information on the internet, including religious content. The emergence of the internet clearly has a positive influence although there is also a negative impact. This article aims to determine the use of information and communication technology products in the context of religious literacy and religious digital literacy in urban communities in Indonesia. This research is a library research with a systematic literature review (SLR) approach. Sources of data in this study came from books and journal articles with a reputation in accordance with the theme or content of the discussion, totaling 58 references and published in the last 5 years. The analysis technique uses content analysis. The findings from the results of this study are that information and communication technology products have been widely used in many sectors of human life, including religion. Users who have gadgets or laptops (PCs) make it a tool for accessing religious content with the help of the internet. This is influenced by the dependence on the internet and a variety of religious content that is increasingly massively spread in cyberspace, especially for urban Muslim communities. Religious digital literacy can be used as a real solution to educate the public about access to digital information. This digital literacy can be used as a provision and foundation for someone to face the current digital era, so that they are not only able to access and find information. But more than that, it is hoped that information can also be validated by referring to the source of origin.

The Power of Ethics: Uncovering Technology Risks and Positive Value Potentials in IT Innovation Planning

The digital transformation of the economy is accelerating companies’ engagement in information technology (IT) innovation. To anticipate which technologies will become relevant over time and integrate them in their innovation plans, companies often rely on product roadmaps as strategic tools. However, ethical issues resulting from ubiquitous IT use have shown the need to accommodate hyped technical advancements in information systems (IS) design and acknowledge human values with moral relevance. Scholars have argued that this moral relevance can only come from an ethical framework. The empirical study presented here investigates whether the three ethical theories of utilitarianism, virtue ethics, and deontology can complement traditional innovation planning approaches. The mixed-method study covers three IT products – a digital toy, a food-delivery app and a telemedicine system. The results reveal that the three ethical theories boost creativity around values and enrich IT innovation planning by supporting the acknowledgment of more and higher value principles (e.g., freedom or personal growth), more diverse value classes (e.g., individual and social values) as well as more original values (e.g., human contact) in system design. What is more, participants identify and mitigate potential social and ethical issues associated with the IT product. Against this background, the findings in this paper suggest that a “value-based roadmapping” approach could be a vital stimulus for future IT innovation planning.

Effect of Perceived Quality of Green Brands on Road Race Participants’ Green Word of Mouth and Mediating Roles of Satisfaction with and Trust in Green Brands

The current study established a theoretical framework for exploring the influence of the perceived quality of green brands on green word of mouth (WOM) by investigating the mediating effects of satisfaction with and trust in green brands. Although prior research has explored the factors influencing green word of mouth, it has focused on information technology and electronic products. The target of the current research was road race runners in Taiwan. Structural equation modeling was performed to validate the research framework. The findings suggest that satisfaction with and trust in green brands mediate the positive effect of the perceived quality of green brands on green word of mouth. Thus, to enhance runners’ satisfaction with and trust in green brands and promote green WOM, road race organizations should allocate resources to improving the perceived quality of the green branding for their events.

The influence of cyber security on financial fraud in the Nigerian banking industry

The study looked at Financial Institution in Nigeria for how cyber security affects financial fraud in Nigerian banks. The study focused on the following topics: the types of electronic frauds committed in the banking industry, the reasons why cyber fraud occurs in banks, the difficulties in preventing cyber fraud in banks, the impact of cyber fraud on Nigerian banks, and potential solutions for preventing cyber fraud in banks. The two hypotheses that the study is based on. Six Nigeria Banks made up the study's population, which used a survey research design. 557 bank employees were sampled using multistage sampling techniques. The bank staff's responses were gathered using a structured questionnaire, which was then, analyzed using the SPSS statistical package for social science version 27. Descriptive analysis was used to analyze the objectives, and multiple regression and Kendal Tau B were used to test the hypotheses. The study's findings indicated that computer viruses, hacking/cracking, phishing, pharming, and accounting fraud by bank employees were the main types of cyber fraud in the banking system. The causes of cybercrime in banks included a lack of line manager or senior manager oversight on deviations from existing electronic processes or controls, current business pressure to meet set targets, collusion between employees and outside parties, insufficient data encryption, the use of third-party services, and parodying. Similarly, the study's findings showed that the challenges impeding the effort to stop cyber fraud in Nigeria's banking system included a lack of standards and national central control, a lack of infrastructure, the internet's vulnerability, a lack of national functional databases, and inadequate awareness by bank customers. A security audit, antivirus and antimalware software, the use of multi-factor authentication, the use of biometrics, and automatic logout were found to be solutions to cybercrime in banks. The findings also showed that financial loss, decreased productivity, and vulnerability of banks' Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems and networks were effects of cybercrime on banks in Nigeria. According to the study's findings, banks' cyberspace security cannot be overextended in Nigeria, so necessary precautions should be taken to reduce cybercrime in Nigeria Banks. The study recommended that Nigeria Banks implement stringent measures to monitor staff activities, particularly in the confidentiality of customer information, cyber security audit be performed by financial institution regularly, sensitization of bank customers, and Multi-factor authentication, biometrics and automatic log out, and strong firewall should be adopted by Nigeria Financial Institutions.

The Effect of Time Management and Help-Seeking in Self-Regulation-Based Computational Thinking Learning in Taiwanese Primary School Students

Computational thinking skills are increasingly required for working with information technology products and are considered core learning objectives in science and technology curriculums across all grades. However, there is yet to be a curriculum model for computational thinking, and many teachers are still figuring out this issue and designing courses to cultivate these skills in students. We planned 8-course periods for 108 curriculums, using the Bebras International Computational Thinking Challenge and programming learning motivation scale to evaluate game-based lessons from Code.org. The grade-3 and -4 students were randomly divided into self-regulation and guided-learning groups, and 153 valid data were analyzed using paired t tests and ANCOVA. As a result, we found the learning behaviors of the two groups of students to be worthy of further exploration in terms of time management and help-seeking learning strategies. Code.org’s game-based lessons effectively engage students to complete most of the course, addressing the usual course completion issues when self-paced. The self-regulation group spent more time in peer discussions and had better learning outcomes than the guided-learning group. To this end, we provide detailed curriculum information as a teaching model for the self-regulated learning of computational thinking in primary schools.
