The Influence of Internet of Things (IoT) on Operational Efficiency and Competitive Advantage in the Information Technology Industry in Indonesia

This study investigates the impact of Internet of Things (IoT) adoption on operational efficiency and competitive advantage within the Information Technology (IT) industry in Indonesia. A quantitative research approach was employed, utilizing a cross-sectional survey design to collect primary data from 170 IT companies operating in Indonesia. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Partial Least Squares (PLS) algorithm was utilized to analyze the data and test the research hypotheses. The findings reveal that IoT adoption positively influences both operational efficiency and competitive advantage within the Indonesian IT industry. These results underscore the transformative potential of IoT technologies in enhancing organizational performance and strategic positioning in the digital era. The study contributes to the existing literature by providing empirical evidence on the benefits of IoT adoption in the context of the Indonesian IT industry, offering insights for policymakers, practitioners, and researchers seeking to harness the potential of IoT technologies for sustainable growth and innovation.

Online knowledge sharing and employee innovation: the role of job self-efficacy and innovative climate

PurposeThis study aims to investigate how job self-efficacy mediates the relationship between online knowledge sharing and employee innovation. To fully understand this relationship, this study also tests the moderating role of an innovative climate.Design/methodology/approachThis study gathered data from 353 full-time employees working at information technology companies in Vietnam. This study used structural equation modeling to test hypotheses.FindingsThe results showed that online knowledge sharing positively influenced employee innovation directly and indirectly through job self-efficacy. Moreover, innovative climate positively affected employee innovation as well as moderated the nexus between online knowledge sharing and employee innovation.Originality/valueFirst, this study provides further evidence that job self-efficacy plays a mediator linking online knowledge sharing with employee innovation. Second, this paper confirms that an innovative climate can play a mixed moderator that not only influences employee innovation but also moderates the association between online knowledge sharing and employee innovation.

Personalize Consumer Needs in Digital Marketing to Attract Medical Technology Awareness

As an information technology company for health facilities, in building information and expanding reach to the target market through Instagram social media, this medical technology company carries out social media activities that can be seen through content posts that have been designed with variety and as attractive as possible according to the predetermined brand image. Instagram content is certainly tailored to the company's target market, and according to the marketing carried out by B2B companies. Here medical technology companies for their target market are health facility owners, or health facility managers. By using the concept of four pillars of social media strategy proposed by Lon Safko and David K. Brake in their book entitled The Social Media Bible: Tactics, Tools & Strategies For Business Success, where the four pillars of content contain entertainment, collaboration content, educational content, and information content. This study aims to test the position of customer needs and content suitability whether it has an effect on increasing brand awareness. This was done by surveying 65 respondents who had experience receiving digital advertisements. With the urgency to change the approach to ensure that the content presented is more in line with customer needs and can increase brand awareness.

Do justice perceptions of performance appraisal practices affect organizational citizenship behavior through affective commitment? Evidence from the information technology industry

PurposeThe paper aims to examine the effect of justice perceptions of performance appraisal (JPPA) practices (i.e. distributive, procedural, informational and interpersonal justice) on organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) and affective commitment (AC) and the effect of AC on OCB. Further, it investigates the mediating role of AC in the relationship between JPPA practices and OCB. Moreover, this study examines the moderating effect of job level on the relationship between JPPA practices and OCB.Design/methodology/approachThe data were collected using a self-reported structured questionnaire. A total of 650 questionnaires were distributed among the employees of 50 information technology (IT) companies in India, and 503 samples were obtained. The conceptual framework was tested using the partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) method, and the moderating effect was tested using process macro.FindingsThe findings of this study reveal that the JPPA practices positively affect OCB and AC and AC affects OCB. Further, AC partially mediates this relationship between JPPA practices and OCB. Furthermore, the direct effect of JPPA practices on OCB happens to be strengthened when the job level decreases, thus confirming the moderating role of job level.Research limitations/implicationsThe findings of this study augment the social exchange theory (SET) by suggesting that individuals perceiving justice or fairness in performance appraisal practices are likely to have a greater AC that ultimately engages employees in OCB.Practical implicationsThis study will be helpful for human resource practitioners in IT companies who are responsible for the fairness of performance appraisal practices and expect their employees to be emotionally attached to the organization and engaged in OCB.Originality/valueThe study adds to the body of knowledge of how justice in performance appraisal practices links to OCB through AC and moderates by job level in an emerging economy in Asia.

Sane Salvage: Re-reading the Dissemination of Indian Values in Sudha Murty’s The Magic Drum and Other Favourite Stories

Moral values are sets of socio-culturally wrought guidelines for human behaviour that ensure acceptance of individuals as honest and valued members of a given community. Since literature reflects society and defines morality, it often operates as a medium for disseminating moral values specific to an age and a place. Sudha Murty, the chairperson of Infosys, an Indian multinational information technology company, is also a significant Indian writer in English with more than twenty published books to her credit. Though one of life’s achievers, Murty has remained grounded in her roots of Indian tradition and Indian values. In the intended study, I want to analyse selected short stories from Murty's story collection, The MAGIC DRUM and other favourite Stories (2006), to underscore how Murty tries to salvage Indian values for her target readership of children and young adults. As will be shown, her purpose is to regain and retain moral sanity in the face of severe value erosion. I shall briefly discuss stories like The Seed of Truth; A Bottle of Dew and The Lucky Purse on the one hand and The Last Laddoo; The White Crow and Haripant the Wise on the other to foreground her praise of the positive values of truthfulness, diligence, and kindness in the first set of stories and her opposition to the negative traits like niggardliness, exaggeration, and avarice in the second set. I will try to show how Murty highlights values promoted and vices decried. Attempts will also be made to indicate the significance of the author’s invocation of a rural past and invectives against a consumerist culture in the selected short stories.

Early Warning Model Construction Based on Z-Score Financial Risk: China's U.S. Stock Information Technology Companies

 Information technology is the foundation for the development of digital economy and the key support for the construction of digital China. The U.S. stock market has a faster financing speed and is the preferred place for Chinese enterprises to list abroad. Based on the Z-Score financial risk early warning model, this study takes China's U.S. stock information technology companies as samples, adds 23 financial indicators to the measurement indicators, and utilizes Fisher's discriminant method for discriminant analysis and validation. The research results show that compared with the Z model, the new model, except for X1, the rest of the variable indicators, indicator coefficients and risk interval thresholds have been revised, and the revised Z1 model has a higher discriminatory correctness rate, and is also more suitable for discriminating the financial risks of China's U.S. stock information technology enterprises at present.

Utilising resistance feedback for software implementation in healthcare

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a rapid transformation in the healthcare industry. Telemedicine, mHealth, and artificial intelligence technologies have become integral components of healthcare delivery, enabling remote consultations, symptom tracking, medication reminders, diagnosis, and treatment. However, the adoption of these technologies in healthcare organisations is often met with resistance from shareholders. The most frequent reasons are fear of technology, uncertainty about the impact of technology solutions on patient care, ethical and regulatory concerns, skepticism about the effectiveness of remote medical consultations, concerns about data privacy and security, reluctance to change workflows, risk of job losses due to automation of certain processes, and possible conflicts of interest. This article explores the complex landscape of shareholder resistance during software implementation projects, the origins of this problem, its manifestations, advantages, disadvantages, and consequences. The article also examines this issue through the prism of the Lewin’s Change Model and the Transtheoretical Model of Change, and demonstrates it on the examples of Information Technology Company and Microsoft. The article offers strategic recommendations for healthcare organisations to effectively manage and mitigate these challenges, facilitating a successful transition to the healthcare technology landscape. Among the main problems, the article discusses the following things: creating open and transparent communication channels for shareholders; joint problem-solving sessions with all stakeholders; an iterative approach to implementing IT projects in healthcare facilities, which allows reviewing, adjusting, and agreeing on solutions at each iteration; involving shareholders in decision-making at the early stages of the software implementation process; comprehensive programs to improve shareholder competencies; targeting opinion leaders who are supporters of changes in the organisation; maintaining continuous feedback, etc.

COVID-19 pandemic and perceived stress in Information Technology professionals

Introduction: Novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), a pandemic was declared by WHO on 11 March 2020. The lockdown had an evident impact on various sectors including the Information Technology sector. Few studies have been conducted to find out the levels of stress in Information Technology professionals. During the COVID-19 pandemic, all employees of Information Technology companies were informed to work remotely at their homes without any prior information, training and mental acceptance i.e. ‘work from home’. Information technology professionals have occupational stress &working from home during COVID-19 has added mental stress. The present study was planned to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on perceived stress in Information Technology professionals. Methods: The present study was a cross-sectional observational study. Volunteers of the Information Technology sector (n=200) of either sex in the age group of 25 to 55 years participated in the study. PSS was administered through Google Forms and scores were analyzed. Results: The association of various stressors with PSS was done which showed a significantly positive association. The mean PSS score of subjects was 23.53 ± 7.39. Twelve (6%) employees had mild, twenty (60%) had moderate and sixty-eight (34%) had high stress levels. This study explored that IT professionals experienced an additional level of stress during the COVID-19 pandemic. Conclusion: The present study concluded statistically significant moderate levels of stress in IT professionals of either sex with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A Comprehensive Review of Impacts of Social Media and Information Technology on Decision Making of General People

This has affected people's decision-making processes in a variety of fields. This thorough analysis investigates the complex effects of information technology and social media on the way the public makes decisions. The impact of social media and information technology on decision-making in domains like politics, healthcare, education, consumer behavior, and interpersonal relationships is examined in this review, which draws on an extensive array of scholarly literature, empirical investigations, and theoretical frameworks. According to the research, information technology and social media can influence decisions in both favorable and unfavorable ways. On the one hand, these platforms give users access to a multitude of information, empowering them to take part in social movements, activism, and civic engagement with greater knowledge and understanding. Social media platforms also enable peer-to-peer communication, cooperation, and knowledge sharing, giving people the confidence to ask their social networks for guidance, affirmation, and support. In the digital age, the review emphasizes how psychological variables, cognitive biases, and sociocultural influences shape decision-making processes. In online environments, people's information processing, judgment-making, and decision-making processes are greatly influenced by social comparison, confirmation bias, FOMO, and social validation, among other factors. This thorough analysis advances our knowledge of the intricate interactions among decision-making, information technology, and social media. Informed decision making, digital literacy, and the moral application of social media and information technology in society are all goals of this review, which synthesizes the literature and highlights new trends to guide future research, legislative efforts, and hands-on interventions. 

Info Technology and Mental Health: A Study of Jonathan Franzen's Purity in the Scope of Berardi’s Theory

In the contemporary era, information technology and mental health are complexly intertwined and the capitalist system plays a significant role in shaping this relationship. The current study argues that most mental diseases like depression, insomnia, schizophrenia, and other diseases of the contemporary era are occurring as a result of being exposed to a huge amount of information technologies. The main aim of this study is to explore and argue that these mental diseases are not a biological state but it comes as a reaction of the mind against the accumulation and acceleration of information in people's minds. The paper uses the observations and opinions of the Italian communist philosopher Franco Berardi to understand the significance of such figurations in Jonathan Franzen's Purity and it will reflect the idea that developing an understanding of how the capitalist system is blamed for these mental diseases by exposing people to an unlimited amount of information that the human mind is unable to access or deal with. Focusing on a depressed woman who is mentally exhausted as a result of the pressure of the new life and wants to change it, Purity uncovers the evils at the heart of our contemporary information technology society.

An Empirical Study on the Effectiveness of Employee Engagement Practices in the IT Sector under Labour Laws: A Case Study in Chennai

In the fast-paced and competitive environment of the Information Technology (IT) sector, the effective management of human resources has become crucial for sustaining a competitive edge. Employee engagement practices have emerged as a vital tool for organizations to enhance productivity, foster innovation, and ensure employee well-being. This study aims to examine the impact of employee engagement practices in the context of the IT sector, with a focus on compliance with labor laws, in the vibrant city of Chennai, India. Employing a mixed-methods research design, this study analyses the current state of employee engagement practices in various IT companies in Chennai. Through the collection of primary data via surveys and interviews with employees and management personnel, the study aims to understand the key factors that contribute to effective employee engagement within the IT sector. Furthermore, it investigates the extent to which these practices align with the existing labor laws and regulations in Chennai. The research also delves into the challenges faced by IT companies in implementing employee engagement strategies while adhering to labor laws. Additionally, it evaluates the role of organizational culture, leadership styles, and technological advancements in facilitating or hindering the successful implementation of employee engagement practices. The findings of this study will provide valuable insights for both policymakers and IT industry stakeholders, highlighting the significance of a holistic approach to employee engagement that considers legal compliance, organizational culture, and technological advancements. By identifying best practices and potential areas for improvement, this research endeavors to contribute to the development of effective strategies for enhancing employee engagement in the IT sector within the framework of labor laws in Chennai

This research discusses organizational planning and control of global marketing operations in the context of Company (G), an information technology company with marketing operations in Indonesia. This research data illustrates how the company manages organizational planning and control of its global marketing operations. Using qualitative research methods, using a literature study approach. This research obtains an in-depth understanding of how Company (G) plans and controls its global marketing operations. The research results show that this company has a matrix organizational structure that allows coordination between global and local marketing teams, as well as policy adjustments to local marketing strategies according to local market needs and preferences. The use of integrated operational control systems and information technology is key in monitoring and managing the company's global marketing performance. However, Company (G) is also faced with various challenges, including coordination between global and local teams, adapting marketing strategies to different local needs, human resource management, compliance with local regulations, and risk management. By considering these challenges and leveraging the advantages of information technology, Company (G) can improve its global marketing performance and remain a relevant player in the information technology industry in the global market.

COMPETITIVE CREATIVITY BETWEEN TALENT MANAGEMENT AND SERVICE QUALITY: EVIDENCE FROM JORDAN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SECTOR

Talent management encompasses a wide range of human resources management practices aimed at attracting and developing talented employees. This study examines the impact of talent management on service quality in Jordanian information technology companies, focusing on the perspective of talented employees and the role of competitive creativity. Data was collected from 341 employees at thirty different Jordanian companies using stratified random sampling techniques. The collected data was then analyzed using SPSS and AMOS SPSS analysis techniques to test the conceptual framework. The study findings demonstrate a significant positive impact of talent management on improving service quality, mediated through the indirect influence of competitive creativity. Furthermore, the direct effects of talent management practices such as talent attraction and talent succession planning were found to have a significant positive effect on service quality. On the other hand, the study reveals that other talent management practices, such as talent development, have a negative direct effect on service quality. Given that this study is the first to investigate the mediating role of competitive creativity between talent management and service quality in Jordan, the limitations of the study were carefully considered.

The impact of justice perceptions of performance appraisal practices on job satisfaction and intention to stay: the mediating role of job engagement

PurposeThis study examines the direct impact of justice perceptions of performance appraisal practices (procedural, distributive, interpersonal and informational justice) on job satisfaction, intention to stay and job engagement. Further, it investigates the effect of job engagement on job satisfaction and intention to stay. Moreover, the study tests the mediating role of job engagement on the impact of justice perceptions of performance appraisal practices on job satisfaction and intention to stay.Design/methodology/approachA total of 650 self-report structured questionnaires were distributed among the employees of 50 information technology companies, and 503 samples were received. Partial least square-structural equation modeling was used to test the hypothesized model.FindingsThis study revealed that justice perception of performance appraisal practices positively affects job satisfaction, intention to stay and job engagement. In addition, job engagement positively affects job satisfaction and intention to stay. Further, job engagement significantly transfers the impact of justice perceptions of performance appraisal practices on job satisfaction and intention to stay, thus confirming the mediating role of job engagement. However, the significant direct impact of justice perceptions of performance appraisal practices on job satisfaction and intention to stay in the presence of a mediator, i.e. job engagement, revealed partial mediation.Research limitations/implicationsThe findings of this study augment the social exchange theory by explicating that an individual who perceives justice in performance appraisal practices is likely to have greater job engagement, which ultimately leads to higher job satisfaction and intention to stay. This study filled the research gap by examining the role of four justice components of performance appraisal practices on job satisfaction and intention to stay and the mediating role of job engagement in transferring the impact of justice perceptions of performance appraisal practices on job satisfaction and intention to stay.Practical implicationsThis study showed the importance of four justice components of performance appraisal practices in enhancing employee job engagement. Hence, this study would motivate information technology companies to maintain fairness in performance appraisal practices to enhance employee job engagement and ultimately increase job satisfaction and intention to stay.Originality/valueThis study is one of its kind that tested the direct impact of comprehensive justice components (procedural, distributive, interpersonal and informational justice) of performance appraisal practices on job satisfaction and intention to stay. In addition, this is a unique study that examined the mediating effect of job engagement on the impact of justice perceptions of performance appraisal practices on job satisfaction and intention to stay.

Remote work demands and work-life balance: Moderating effect of perceived leadership behavior

This study investigates the relationship between remote work demands, work stress, and work-life balance among employees in the service sector, specifically those working in Information Technology companies. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced organizations to shift to a new mode of working, which has led to significant changes in work and family roles. Due to the unpredicted changes, remote work causes work stress among employees. A cross-sectional study was chosen, and data were gathered from 242 employees working in the service industry. A purposeful sampling technique is used, and data were collected using a questionnaire. Grounded with Conservation of Resources (COR) stress theory and transformational leadership theory, the result of moderated mediation analyses specifies that the negative influence of remote work demands on the work-life balance of employees is potentially increased by work stress and reversed by the influence of their leader’s behavior style, specifically transformational leadership. Through the dimensions of transformational leadership such as idealized influence, inspirational motivation, individualized consideration, intellectual simulation, the leaders help the individuals working in the team cope with stress and support them in all possible ways to achieve the goal. The outcome also signifies the moderating effect of gender on balancing work and life.

Modern Tools of the State Governance Transformation in the Digital Economy Settings

Introduction. Development of civilization at the modern stage depends on the processes of the information technologies development, which get into all spheres of human life. The "early signs" of the information society were first observed in the late 20s, in the technologically advanced countries. However, at that time, the Information Technology Society according to the scholars’ concept had a different structure and trend of development, but even then, the possible transformations of society and the state were not denied. Such processes were criticised due to the concern about the very existence of the human beings, and possibility for them to apply their abilities in a digital society settings. However, the processes, which are analysed here, have not stop, and digital transformation has much intensified in recent years, affecting all spheres of public life including the state governance. In this regard, studying the processes of digital transformation of the state governance seems forward-looking, because its efficiency is ensured by these processes. With regard to the above mentioned, the aim of the study is to evaluate the significance of implementing the state governance transformation within the modern digital economy settings.Materials and Methods. The documents, defining the strategy of the state development in the digital economy settings, were analysed in the article. The research was based on such conventional methods of scientific knowledge as the dialectical and legalistic methods, as well as the methods of analysis, synthesis, induction and deduction.Results. The state governance transformation tools in the digital economy settings have been identified. The importance of the state governance digitalization has been revealed, since, first and foremost, it fosters elimination of the problems referring to, e.g., corruption, statistical data tampering, etc., dealing with the distortion of information. The authors have identified the specifics of the digital state governance, there have been distinguished the main components of digital transformation, and three trends of the state governance development, enabling a quicker transit to the digital methods of governance, have been defined. The conclusion about digital technologies being a quite relevant tool for accelerating the analytical processes in the field of state governance has been made. Digital technologies allow making the more reliable forecasts, based on the bigger data set, they increase the quantity and improve the quality of the services provided.Discussion and Conclusion. The significance of implementing the state governance digital transformation cannot be overestimated, since such transformation influences significantly on the enhancement of the management processes, ensures the efficiency of rendering the state services to the population that contributes, among other things, to solving the socially vital problems. The theoretical and practical conclusions made by the authors can underlie the further research on the processes and tools of the state governance transformation in the digital economy settings

The use of information technology in companies is mandatory to create advantages for the company. Companies of course expect innovation to be able to compete in the global market. Information system development needs to be carried out to improve good business processes and create effectiveness in customer service. A good framework is an important key in designing to produce a satisfactory enterprise system. The company system description can use a framework that suits your needs, namely the Zachman Framework. The Zachman Framework is used to design production company systems by designing based on the perspectives involved with the system. Using the Zachman Framework in designing company systems will produce designs involving the perspectives of planners, owners, designers, builders, subcontractors and users who will discuss in detail data, function, location, people, time and motivation. The results of system design are in the form of a blueprint or company system framework that can facilitate the production process.
