Enhancing registration systems: Implementing database systems in digital boarding schools

Islamic boarding schools, known as pondok pesantren are specialized schools for Islamic education in Indonesia. With the community's increasing interest in religious education, some pesantren have begun to offer online learning opportunities. Pondok Pesantren Bayt Tamyiz is a Islamic boarding school that has started developing online pesantren education under the name Tamyiz Digittren. This program aims to enhance understanding and translation of the Qur'an using the Tamyiz method. The pondok pesantren requires significant changes in its administrative systems, including the registration process. Information system development is often challenging for the pesantren staffs and software developers. One of the fundamental difficulties lies in the user requirement process. Typically, pesantren need help to provide the information system they need. Such difficulties hinder the development process as developers must conduct numerous experiments. This research aims to design and implement a suitable database for the new student registration system with minimal information and limited time development. The research follows a database development method divided into three stages: Requirement Collection and Analysis, Conceptual Database Design, and Logical Database Design. Database development utilizes MySQL as the Database Management System (DBMS) and PHP as the programming language. This research results in a database design capable of storing and managing student data, payments, and other registration information. We expect the results of this database development to be effective in supporting the registration system and in the future development of information systems at Pondok Pesantren Bayt Tamyiz.

Accessibility of digital systems in information retrieval by users with visual impairment

Purpose This paper aims to evaluate the accessibility of digital information systems as a key usability attribute in information retrieval by users with visual impairment (VI), to inform development of accessible information systems. Design/methodology/approach This study used a cross-sectional survey design based on the quantitative research paradigm. Data was collected from 117 students with visual impairments from selected public universities in Kenya, using a semi-structured questionnaire adapted from Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. Findings This study revealed that gender did not influence screen reader compatibility, alternative format preferences, perceptions of accessible content or digital library navigability. Instead, type of visual impairment, prior assistive technology (AT) training and digital library use frequency significantly impacted these attributes. Blind students reported positive experiences, favouring alternative formats, and expressed positive views on accessible content while those with low vision faced more challenges. Prior training in assistive technology and frequent digital library use resulted in higher screen reader compatibility and better navigability. Increased digital library use was linked to access to alternative content for those with prior assistive technology training. Research limitations/implications This study contributes to the existing literature on accessibility of digital information systems for users with visual impairments. Further research is needed to explore other factors that may influence the accessibility of digital systems, such as the design of user interfaces as well as an evaluation of accessibility of digital systems for other categories of disabilities such as hearing impairment, physical impairment, autism and intellectual disability, among others. Practical implications The findings of this study have practical implications for the design and development of digital systems such as digital libraries. Developers can leverage findings of this study to enhance compatibility of digital platforms with screen readers and provide alternative formats and accessible content. User-centred design principles can be used to create interfaces that are easy to navigate and friendly to users with visual impairments. Training programmes on assistive technology should be provided to users to enhance their skills and confidence in using digital systems. Originality/value This study contributes towards design and creation of navigable systems that are compatible with screen readers. The study also points out the importance of creating more inclusive and usable digital environments for persons with visual impairments.

Development of a Low-Cost Web-Based Information System for Managing a University Department Chemical Warehouse

Herein, we present the implementation of a low-cost web-based information system tailored to manage a university department chemical warehouse. The system provides a centralized platform for cataloging, tracking, and managing chemical inventory data, while also facilitating purchasing and various administrative tasks associated with laboratory operations. The system has been developed within the Campusnet platform and has the following functionalities: (i) an efficient way for cataloging the extensive array of products available in the warehouse; (ii) an intuitive web interface with a device-responsive layout to facilitate browsing and purchasing of products by students, researchers, and technical staff; (iii) an inventory transaction recording system to simplify the attribution of costs; (iv) a simple procedure to streamline the process of joint purchases; and (v) a low deployment cost and ease of maintenance. Key design considerations, including regulatory compliance and safety, are also presented.

In the article, the need for further development of the state is directly related to: solving issues of increasing defense capability and information security; development of information and intelligent systems. The necessity of ensuring the required level of completeness of information, compliance with the requirements of its relevance, achievement and maintenance of the appropriate level of integrity, accessibility and confidentiality is substantiated. The article emphasizes that for this purpose, complex systems of coding and information protection are being built. It is shown that recently, in order to further increase the level of security of information resources, methods of hidden embedding of information have been used. In this field of scientific and applied research, the direction of timely delivery of integral video information in a secure mode is outlined. For protection, the following can be used: meta-messages, which are formed on the basis of intelligent analysis of video frames; separate video segments of aerial photographs containing the most important information for decision-making. This article examines a class of methods of steganographic transformations, which are associated with embedding messages in digital containers, which are formed by a stream of video segments (VS). However, existing steganographic systems are based mainly on the use of the amount of psychovisual (PSV) redundancy available for reduction. Therefore, an increase in steganographic capacity leads to a loss of integrity and efficiency of delivery of video-container information. Steganocompression coding in the stegano-polyadic basis was created on the basis of taking into account the amount of redundancy permissible for reduction. In this case, in the process of compression of the components of the VS, the direct embedding of hidden information is organized. Concealment of information is carried out by technological stages, depending on the compression transformation of the transitional syntax of the quilted sequence. The key stage is the technology of two-stage implementation of the elements of the concealed message added to the stegano sequences to the syntax of the steganocompression representation of the BC components.

Web-Based Education Personnel Management: An Innovation in the Development of Education Management in the 21st Century

In the 21st century, technology-based institutions require clear parameters for evaluating employee performance. Manual performance assessment processes necessitate the development of a technology-driven information system to streamline leadership's evaluation of employees. This study is dedicated to analyzing the prerequisites for designing an information technology-based performance monitoring system tailored for educational staffs, organized into four stages: defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. By involving 71 educational staffs, this study resulted in the creation of the SI-IKAH (Sistem Input Kinerja Harian Tenaga Kependidikan) or the Daily Performance Input System for Education Personnel, specifically designed for the Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia Sumedang Campus. The system comprises modules for collecting personal information, work unit details, types of tasks, work hours, work outcomes, and generating reports for educational staff. This study concludes that the implementation of this system has the potential to boost employees performance motivation, ensure the currency of institutional data, and enhance the efficiency of employee work assessments.

Towards Quality Management Procedures in 3D Cadastre

The 3D cadastre presents a modern approach to the development of cadastral information systems, with the role of improving current cadastral systems and overcoming the challenges of a 2D-based approach. Technological advancements, standardization, and scientific research in recent decades have contributed to the development and definition of the 3D cadastre. This positioned the 3D cadastre as an integral part of the future of land administration. However, every country needs to define a solution for itself based on its own legal system and cadastral tradition, while at the same time relying on international standardization and research. Once a 3D cadastral system is developed, it is crucial to ensure the monitoring, evaluation, and maintenance of both the quality of the cadastral data and the system itself throughout its lifecycle. Since 3D cadastres involve geometric data, quality management procedures must address both geometric and alphanumeric data. In this paper, we analyze and present the quality management procedures that should be included during designing, implementing, and maintaining a 3D cadastral system. Some examples based on real cadastral data were used to emphasize the need for improvement in quality management. The presented quality management procedures require further development in order to meet country-specific requirements and to fully support the 3D cadastre information systems.

Automation of course registration is a major breakthrough with the advancement in information technology. Registration processes that take longer time most times eating deep into the semester and with laborious inputs from registration officers have evolved into a seamless and easy process due to the development of robust information systems. An information system requires accurate data for it to give a reliable output, so it is of the essence to be able to input accurate credit units of courses to the course registration system. Computing the credit units of courses by students and course registration officers is mostly manual, in this research, automation of this vital pre-process is implemented. The system is built using java programming language which makes it robust, simple and easy to use. It is a credit unit calculator that does not require being online before it can either be deployed or used. The system prompts the user to enter level, the semester, maximum credit load for the semester and their corresponding credit units. At each execution of the system the courses, corresponding credit units, total credit load for the semester is displayed provided the total credit units entered is not greater than the credit load for the semester, otherwise a prompt displays the excess credit units. Subsequent research can enhance the system to be able to send the output of the pre-registration document from the student directly to the registration officer, and also there should be a module embedded to the system that will enable the registration officer to perform the pre-registration document verification. A module to check double registration and determination if a given course is either first or second semester can also be added.

Viable System Model (VSM): A New Approach to Accounting Information System Development Model

This article discusses the potential for using the Viable System Model (VSM) as a new approach in developing accounting information systems. This article takes the form of a systematic literature review. The analysis was carried out using a comparative approach between the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC-Model) and the Viable System Model (VSM) in general and specifically in the field of accounting and accounting information systems. The SDLC is primarily focused on the development and management of software or systems, while the VSM is concerned with the broader understanding and management of complex organizations. Both concepts have their unique applications and are important in their respective domains. The results of the study show that the VSM has a more holistic approach in developing accounting information systems. The research results also show that VSM is more suitable for developing accounting information systems in organizations that are complex, flexible, and adaptive to the speed of change in the company’s ongoing organizational business environment. The VSM provides a framework for understanding how organizations and systems can adapt to changing environments and maintain viability. It is particularly useful for complex organizations that need to respond to dynamic conditions. Evaluation and Development of Building Material Sales Information System to Improve Inventory Management and Customer Service

This research investigates the Evaluation and Development of Building Material Sales Information Systems (BMIS) to Enhance Inventory Management and Customer Service within the construction industry. Through a qualitative analysis approach, the study explores the challenges faced by building material suppliers, identifies the requirements for effective BMIS, and evaluates the impacts of BMIS implementation on inventory management practices and customer service. Data were collected through interviews, focus group discussions, and case studies with stakeholders representing diverse perspectives within the construction supply chain. The findings highlight the critical role of BMIS in addressing inventory management challenges, improving order accuracy, and enhancing communication with customers. The study contributes to the development of practical recommendations for building material suppliers seeking to optimize their operations and deliver superior service experiences to their clientele.

CONSUMER INFORMATION SYSTEM IN WEB-BASED COOPERATIVES: CASE STUDY OF DIRA JAYA SINAR RESKI COOPERATIVE

This study aims to determine the results of the development of consumer information systems at the Dira Jaya Sinar Reski cooperative as well as find out user responses to the system to be developed. This research uses the type of R&D (Research and development) research and prototype development model that uses data collection techniques such as interviews, observations, and questionnaires. Based on the results of the research, a Web-Based Consumer Information System was developed at the Dira Jaya Sinar Reski Cooperative which has been tested using ISO 25010 testing using 8 aspects of testing that have been validated by content experts. The final result of the overall assessment is that the Consumer Information System at the Web-Based Dira Jaya Sinar Reski Cooperative was declared valid by the validator lecturers, and declared effective based on functional suitability aspects, and declared practical based on user responses that have been tested from the usability aspect.

A Proposed Quality Measurements for Information Systems Development Projects

The objective of this paper is to propose quality measurements for ISDP to achieve higher quality levels for information systems development projects (ISDP). The complexity of assessing information system quality stems from its many important dimensions. This paper presents important quality concepts and fundamentals related to ISDP. In addition, it presents the life cycle, phases, and activities of ISDP. Depending on the proposed steps and a combination of statistical techniques, this paper introduces a proposed quality assurance model for ISDP activities. This proposed model can be used for building a software tool for the quality assurance of ISDP.

Wiyung Sejahtera Hospital in recording the borrowing and returning of outpatient medical records still uses expedition books which are recorded manually. The research aims to design and develop an information system to facilitate the process of borrowing and returning outpatient medical record files using the Waterfall method approach. The Waterfall method was chosen because of its ability to divide system development into structured stages, starting from requirements analysis to maintenance. The needs analysis stage involves an in-depth study of existing processes and user needs. Next, system design is carried out by building a design plan that includes database structure, user interface design, and system workflow. System implementation is carried out by developing applications based on previous designs, while system testing is carried out thoroughly to ensure quality and performance before full implementation. The maintenance stage is carried out to ensure system operation and carry out continuous repairs and improvements. As a result, it is hoped that this system can improve the efficiency and quality of outpatient medical record file management and health services as a whole. The conclusion of this research is the successful design and development of a computer-based information system for borrowing and returning outpatient medical records at Wiyung Sejahtera Hospital using the waterfall method.

Warehouse Management Information System Technology Review

With the rapid development of information technology, warehouse management information systems are playing an increasingly important role in modern logistics management. This paper first elaborates on the importance of warehouse management information systems and the impact of technological development on warehouse management, and then reviews the development process of warehouse management information systems. Next, it focuses on introducing the application of key technologies such as barcode technology, RFID technology, UWB high-precision positioning technology, wireless network communication technology, cloud computing technology, and big data analysis technology in warehouse management. In addition, this paper also analyzes the current problems faced by warehouse management information systems and discusses the application prospects of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, blockchain, automation, and robotics in warehouse management. Finally, it summarizes the main findings of the review and proposes insights and suggestions for the development of warehouse management information systems and future research directions.

Sistem Informasi Penjualan Online Berbasis Web Pada Toko Citra Parfum

This research aims to develop an online sales system (e-commerce) for Citra Parfum store in Tambun Selatan, Bekasi Regency. The store faces challenges in achieving sales targets and low customer numbers due to limited promotion through conventional channels and its hidden location within a residential area. The research utilizes the method of information system development, utilizing Visual Studio Code as a medium for creating the e-commerce website. The developed system includes the display of perfume products along with relevant information, a shopping cart, the checkout process, and online payment. This study proposes the implementation of a web-based e-commerce for Citra Parfum store. With the online sales system, it is expected that the number of sales transactions will increase, the marketing reach will expand, and buyers will be able to transact more easily. The research results are also expected to provide practical benefits to the management of Citra Parfum in improving customer satisfaction through the implementation of the online sales system.

Facing the digital frontier: exploring user acceptance of electronic health records in an urban, rural and remote setting in the Philippines.

A thorough understanding of user needs and behavioural intent-to-use underpins the development of a responsive health information system. This study aimed to examine health workers' intent-to-use an electronic health record (EHR) system in an urban, rural and remote setting in the Philippines. Following the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology framework, user acceptance and the factors influencing intent-to-use the EHR were examined through a self-administered questionnaire. A total of 128 EHR users, comprising physicians, nurses, midwives, barangay health workers and administrative staff, were surveyed. Median scores for each domain were compared across the sites using the Kruskal-Wallis test. Ridge regression analysis was used to identify factors associated with behavioural intent-to-use. Over 94% of users across all sites reported their intent-to-use the EHR in the near future. Of the seven predictor variables examined, only self-efficacy was found to be significantly associated with behavioural intent-to-use. Intent-to-use the EHR increased by 31% (p=0.007) for each unit increase in self-efficacy score among participants. Acceptance was high across the three sites, with self-efficacy being a predictor of intent-to-use the technology. This suggests that users are more likely to adopt an EHR if they believe they have the capacity to successfully navigate the technology and perform their designated tasks with it. Co-producing interventions with primary care providers is crucial in sustaining EHR systems. Rather than developing a technology based on the surveillance needs of policymakers, an EHR developed from the grassroots was shown to be well-received by end-users.

The core of Industry 4.0 is the extensive use of Information System in organizational business processes. The competency of System Analysis and Design is required by companies as an expert in Information System development. UNITAMA, a higher education institution, is developing a program of study in Information Systems that produces competent professionals with a discipline in Analysis and Information System Design. The university will strengthen student competencies through a collaborative approach between the learning process and IDUKA. The type of research is Research & Development (R&D) research so that the process of developing virtual learning media technology media for the Hybrid Teaching Factory (H-TEFA) model is directed and systematic, so in this research and development using the ADDIE development model which consists of five development stages (analysis, design, product manufacturing, implementation and evaluation). The Virtual Lab is a modern learning method based on the Learning Management System (LMS) that provides students with more dynamic and customized educational materials for practical learning. The Virtual Lab UNITAMA is the development of a practical learning method designed and adapted to the needs of the Analysis and Information System Design course based on the IDUKA Information System, utilizing web-based IT technology that allows learning to take place remotely, not limited to the classroom and specific hours. The model of collaboration between teachers, students, and IDUKA in the Analysis and Information System Design course is enabled by the rapid development of technology and information systems in the era of Industry 4.0, using e-learning/LMS systems that are integrated with Virtual Lab. The Link & Match policy between the education sector and IDUKA is expected to improve the competencies of graduates and align them with IDUKA's specific needs.
