An investigation into multidimensional information encryption through structural color in electrically responsive subwavelength gratings

In the vanguard of safeguarding data integrity, optical encryption and anti-counterfeiting measures are indispensable. Structural color, with its inherent optical exclusivity, including tunable chromaticity and intricate high-resolution patterning, stands at the forefront of this domain. Despite its promise, the proliferation of structural color technologies in anti-counterfeiting applications is curtailed by the exorbitant production costs and the current limitations in information capacity and security. Addressing these constraints, our study delineates a novel encryption paradigm that interlaces color and digital data within a subwavelength grating matrix. This synergy is fortified by a tri-layered encryption schema, amalgamating electrical response signatures, inherent optical attributes, and the robust RSA algorithm, thereby elevating the information capacity exponentially to 10n and reinforcing multi-faceted security throughout transmission. Our approach heralds a new era in the realm of high density, secure information storage.

Dynamic multifunctional metasurfaces: an inverse design deep learning approach

Optical metasurfaces (OMs) offer unprecedented control over electromagnetic waves, enabling advanced optical multiplexing. The emergence of deep learning has opened new avenues for designing OMs. However, existing deep learning methods for OMs primarily focus on forward design, which limits their design capabilities, lacks global optimization, and relies on prior knowledge. Additionally, most OMs are static, with fixed functionalities once processed. To overcome these limitations, we propose an inverse design deep learning method for dynamic OMs. Our approach comprises a forward prediction network and an inverse retrieval network. The forward prediction network establishes a mapping between meta-unit structure parameters and reflectance spectra. The inverse retrieval network generates a library of meta-unit structure parameters based on target requirements, enabling end-to-end design of OMs. By incorporating the dynamic tunability of the phase change material Sb2Te3 with inverse design deep learning, we achieve the design and verification of dynamic multifunctional OMs. Our results demonstrate OMs with multiple information channels and encryption capabilities that can realize multiple physical field optical modulation functions. When Sb2Te3 is in the amorphous state, near-field nano-printing based on meta-unit amplitude modulation is achieved for X-polarized incident light, while holographic imaging based on meta-unit phase modulation is realized for circularly polarized light. In the crystalline state, the encrypted information remains secure even with the correct polarization input, achieving double encryption. This research points towards ultra-compact, high-capacity, and highly secure information storage approaches.

Anion-directed cationic supramolecular dyes with reversible mechanochromism and fabric staining

It is vital to create supramolecular dyes with excellent photo-luminescence properties based on host-gust interaction. In this study, we present three novel self-assembled cationic supramolecular dyes driven by host-guest electrostatic interaction and with ultrasmall cavities. These cationic dyes were developed and synthesized using pyridine-substituted phenanthrene, triphenylamine (TPA), and tetraphenyl ethylene (TPE) as chromophores through the pyridine quaternary ammonium salt reaction. These anion-trapped supramolecular dyes exhibit outstanding aggregation-induced emission (AIE) characteristics as well as reversible mechanochromism behavior and high solid-state fluorescence quantum yields (∼60.87 %). Furthermore, the cationic supramolecular dyes directly stain cotton fibers with 50 % dyeing rate in water-methanol solutions, in which the deprotonated glucose-O- guest possibly interacts with the cationic dye through host-guest encapsulation. Additionally, we characterized the dyeing process through IR spectroscopy, UV–vis spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). Due to the reversible, tractable, and high-contrast mechanochromism of the dyes, they can make up a color-changing flower pattern. Thus, we anticipate that these dyes will have potential applications in information security storage and anti-counterfeiting.

Chemo-Triggered luminescence of sulfur nanoparticles for highly secure information storage

Most of the information storage technologies that rely solely on the luminous signals of specific materials may be cracked and forged. It is always a technical challenge that special “keys” are used to trigger luminescent material for encryption. In this paper, green fluorescent quantum dots (green SQDs) were synthesized by utilizing the corrosion and encapsulation functions of polyethyleneimine (PEI). Green SQDs transform into blue SQDs under the stimulation of H2O2. Stimulus-responsive characterization of green SQDs was used for highly secure message encryption. This work provides a promising application in the field of high-security information storage for chem-triggered luminescent materials.

Visible Light-Activated Ultralong-Lived Triplet Excitons of Carbon Dots for White-Light Manipulated Anti-Counterfeiting.

Room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) has emerged as an interesting but rare phenomenon with multiple potential applications in anti-counterfeiting, optoelectronic devices, and biosensing. Nevertheless, the pursuit of ultralong lifetimes of RTP under visible light excitation presents a significant challenge. Here, new phosphorescent materials that can be excited by visible light with record-long lifetimes are demonstrated, realized through embedding nitrogen doped carbon dots (N-CDs) into a poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) film. The RTP lifetime of the N-CDs@PVA film is remarkably extended to 2.1s excited by 420nm, representing the highest recorded value for visible light-excited phosphorescent materials. Theoretical and experimental studies reveal that the robust hydrogen bonding interactions can effectively reduce the non-radiative decay rate and radiative transition rate of triplet excitons, thus dramatically prolong the phosphorescence lifetime. Notably, the RTP emission of N-CDs@PVA film can also be activated by easily accessible low-power white-light-emitting diode. More significantly, the practical applications of the N-CDs@PVA film in state-of-the-art anti-counterfeiting security and optical information storage domains are further demonstrated. This research offers exciting opportunities for utilizing visible light-activated ultralong-lived RTP systems in a wide range of promising applications.

Distributed power storage and converter system health monitoring Internet of Things under blockchain

This study to solve the information storage problem in the current medical system analyzes the privacy and security effects of the blockchain (BC) in the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) and accurately predicts the health status of IoMT users. First, a microgrid is designed to supply power to BC, and then BC is applied to IoMT so that medical data can be stored safely and secure information can be shared. Then, deep learning is used to predict and analyze the characteristics of users' health data. Besides, the IoMT model under BC and improved AlexNet are constructed. Finally, the model is evaluated based on an example. According to the results, the calculation overhead of the model keeps stable at 0.13 s, and the usage of central processing unit is always lower than 17.62%. Regarding data transmission security, the average delay of the model reported keeps stable at 350 ms, and the area under the characteristic curve of receiver operating is 0.9217. This algorithm can accurately predict the user’s physiological health. In this study, a system with high model efficiency and superior performance is created. This work is of significance for the intelligent development and secure information storage in the medical field and contribute to the development of the medical industry.

A Cu 2+ triggered reversible photochromic system: the structure photochromic response relationship study and potential applications

Fifteen rhodamine B hydrazide hydrazone (RhBHH) derivatives (compounds a – o ) with various substituent groups at different position and their photochromic property triggered by Cu 2+ were studied to illustrate the structure photochromic response relationship (SPRR). Three of them (compounds f – h ) with a para -position hydroxyl group and two meta -position halogen substituents display Cu 2+ -triggered photochromic which is significantly different from the previous reports. It was found that halogen atoms, which were generally considered to have no remarkable regulation effect, exhibited great influences on the photochromic behaviour of RhBHH derivatives. Detail photochromic properties of the developed photochromic system were revealed by using compound g as the model substrate, and only Cu 2+ displayed high selective trigger effect. Good reversible photochromic phenomenon was observed after stimulated with visible light irradiation and dark (or heat) bleaching consecutively. Furthermore, this photochromic system could be used in the preparation of photochromic glass, special security ink, molecular logic gate and two-dimensional code for security information storage.

Bio-Inspired Electro-Thermal-Hygro Responsive Rewritable Systems with Temporal/Spatial Control for Environment-Interactive Information Display.

Utilization of rewritable luminescent materials for secure information storage and delivery has long been envisaged to reduce the cost and environmental wastes. However, it remains challenging to realize a temporally/spatially controlled display of the written information, which is crucial for secure information encryption. Here, inspired by bioelectricity-triggered skin pattern switching in cephalopods, an ideal rewritable system consisting of conductive graphene film and carbon dots (CDs) gel with blue-to-red fluorescence-color changes via water-triggered CDs aggregation and re-dispersion is presented. Its rewritability is guaranteed by using water ink to write on the CDs-gel and employing Joule heat of graphene film to evaporate water. Due to the highly controlled electrical stimulus, temporally/spatially controlled display is achieved, enabling on-demand delivery and duration time regulation of the written information. Furthermore, new-concept environment-interactive rewritable system is obtained by integrating sensitive acoustic/optical sensors and multichannel electronic time-delay devices. This work opens unprecedented avenues of rewritable systems and expands potential uses for information encryption/delivery.

HGPSO: An efficient scientific workflow scheduling in cloud environment using a hybrid optimization algorithm

Cloud technology has raised significant prominence providing a unique market economic approach for resolving large-scale challenges in heterogeneous distributed systems. Through the use of the network, it delivers secure, quick, and profitable information storage with computational capability. Cloud applications are available on-demand to meet a variety of user QoS standards. Due to a large number of users and tasks, it is important to achieve efficient scheduling of tasks submitted by users. One of the most important and difficult non-deterministic polynomial-hard challenges in cloud technology is task scheduling. Therefore, in this paper, an efficient task scheduling approach is developed. To achieve this objective, a hybrid genetic algorithm with particle swarm optimization (HGPSO) algorithm is presented. The scheduling is performed based on the multi-objective function; the function is designed based on three parameters such as makespan, cost, and resource utilization. The proper scheduling system should minimize the makespan and cost while maximizing resource utilization. The proposed algorithm is implemented using WorkflowSim and tested with arbitrary task graphs in a simulated setting. The results obtained reveal that the proposed HGPSO algorithm outperformed all available scheduling algorithms that are compared across a range of experimental setups.

High-efficiency NP-carbon dots above 60% with both delayed fluorescence and room-temperature phosphorescence.

This report introduces a groundbreaking technique for synthesizing carbon dots (CDs) that display both delayed fluorescence and room-temperature phosphorescence. This achievement is made possible through a straightforward solvent-thermal reaction, followed by thermal treatment. The CDs are simultaneously provided with blue fluorescence and cyan afterglow, with an afterglow quantum yield (QY) of up to 60.47%, which is an expected figure for non-metallic CDs afterglow materials. Moreover, these CDs show an average afterglow lifetime of 1.11 s with a visually recognizable period of 16 s. We subsequently demonstrate the pragmatic application of CDs in cutting-edge fields such as anti-counterfeiting security and optical information storage.

Optimized multi‐objective Q‐learning with enhanced beetle swarm optimization based scientific workflows scheduling on cloud computing environment

Q‐learning is one of the machine learning algorithms that can solve these types of problems. The proposed approach is divided into two processes: task prioritization and resource selection. In this article, initially, the tasks are prioritized by using the Q‐learning algorithm. After the prioritization, the tasks are assigned to resources by using the enhanced beetle swarm optimization (EBSO) algorithm. To achieve this, the multi‐objective function is designed based on makespan, cost, and resource utilization. The effectiveness of the suggested method is evaluated using a variety of criteria such as makespan, resource utilization, and cost.

We tend to propose a Healthcare Secure Information Storage System (Life Care) that firmly manages personal medical records and creates an interaction between Doctors and Patients. The Life Care system is meant to improve the current systems because it provides interoperable, secure, and effective access for medical records by patients. It provides timed-based smart contract for governing transactions and dominant access to electronic medical records. The security is ensured by using SHA-256 encryption technique with Blockchain to store hash data for providing security, new incentive mechanism that leverages the degree of health suppliers concerning their efforts in maintaining medical records and making new blocks.

A blockchain-based secure storage scheme for medical information

Medical data involves a large amount of personal information and is highly privacy sensitive. In the age of big data, the increasing informatization of healthcare makes it vital that medical information is stored securely and accurately. However, current medical information is subject to the risk of privacy leakage and difficult to share. To address these issues, this paper proposes a healthcare information security storage solution based on hyperledger fabric and the attribute-based access control framework. The scheme first utilizes attribute-based access control, which allows dynamic and fine-grained access to medical information, and then stores the medical information in the blockchain, which can be secured and tamper-proof by formulating corresponding smart contracts. In addition, this solution also incorporates IPFS technology to relieve the storage pressure of the blockchain. Experiments show that the proposed scheme combining access control of attributes and blockchain technology in this paper can not only ensure the secure storage and integrity of medical information but also has a high throughput when accessing medical information

Secure and Authenticated Data Access and Sharing Model for Smart Wearable Systems

Contrary to the public cloud storage services that impose users to accept the security restrictions delivered by the service provider, users in the private cloud benefit from self-managed, authenticated data access services. However, this may lead to security issues. A critical challenge is the provision of secure and authenticated data storage for the data owner. Moreover, the data owner should be able to access the stored data and share it with others in a controlled manner. In this article, a secure and authenticated data storage, access, and sharing model is proposed for private cloud storage, which has three components. The data storage component provides the user with secure storage of information. The data sharing component enables sharing the stored data under the control of the data owner. The data access component enables authenticated access to the cloud storage. The security analysis demonstrates that the model is secure against various attacks. The scheme is validated to be secure via the Scyther tool, BAN Logic, and in Random Oracle Model. The performance analysis regarding the computation and communication cost via simulation in OMNeT++ show that it obtains the required security goals and efficiency of computation and communication, compared to the related methods.

E-Voting using Blockchain Technology

Blockchain is a decentralized, digital, and consensus-based secure information storage system. This article gives an overview of how to use the blockchain to construct a secure and trustworthy electronic voting system. The main goal of this paper is to investigate the most recent state of blockchain-based voting research while attempting to foresee the accompanying potential issues future developments. This paper's technique is as follows: a methodical approach to review and following an overview of the blockchain's core structure and properties in relation. We present a conceptual definition of e-voting. Desired e-voting application based on blockchain symmetrical improvements in asymmetrical cryptography are also important. We gathered and examined a number of research papers from scientific databases that advocated for the use of the blockchain architecture in voting systems. These articles suggested that blockchain-based voting systems may offer alternatives to standard e-voting. The most pressing challenges were divided into five categories: general, integrity, coin-based, privacy, and consensus. As a consequence of this study, it was discovered that blockchain systems can help solve some of the issues that now plague election systems. We are attempting to design a system that respects the essential and most significant aspects of a voting system, such as transparency, secrecy, security, and decentralisation, while also providing the extra benefit of mobility.

Amplifying Upconversion by Engineering Interfacial Density of State in Sub-10 nm Colloidal Core/Shell Fluoride Nanoparticles.

Achieving bright photon upconversion under low irradiance is of great significance and finds many stimulating applications from photovoltaics to biophotonics. However, it remains a daunting challenge to significantly intensify upconversion luminescence in small nanoparticles with a simple structure. Herein, we report the amplification of photon upconversion through engineering interfacial density of states between the core and the shell layer in sub-10 nm colloidal rare-earth ions doped fluoride nanocrystals. Through tuning of the metal cations in the shell layer of alkaline-earth-based core/shell nanoparticles, both the interfacial phonon frequency and the density of state are evidently decreased, resulting in the luminescence intensification of up to 8224 times. The generality of this upconversion enhancement strategy has been verified through expansion of this approach to alkali-based core/shell nanoparticles. The engineering of photon density of state in such core/shell nanoparticles enables dynamic display and high-level security information storage.

A survey of Blockchain technologies applied to software‐defined networking: Research challenges and solutions

AbstractSoftware‐Defined Networking (SDN) brought a groundbreaking idea to facilitate network system management by decoupling and abstracting the Control plane and Data plane of traditional networks. The centralised control offers network administrators many benefits such as a global view of the network, programmability, dynamic updating of forwarding rules, and software‐based traffic analysis. The SDN architecture has been applied a lot in practice, and especially in Internet of Things (IoT) platforms. With the superiority of SDN, IoT devices can be managed and configured much more easily when combined. However, SDN also raises many challenges in terms of scalability, reliability, and security. Blockchain is another promising solution for secure information storage and transmission technology that operates without a centralised authority. Applying Blockchain technology into SDN can address some of the current issues of SDN by providing decentralised methods to authenticate exchanged network information. This study provides a comprehensive survey on Blockchain technologies applied to SDN in both security and non‐security fields. First, related studies and an overview of SDN and the background of Blockchain technology are presented. Then, the authors review how Blockchain technologies are applied in SDN from two perspectives: non‐security and security‐aware approaches. Finally, challenges and broader perspectives are discussed.

Network Communication Data Encryption Method Based on Wireless Channel Characteristics

In order to improve the secure transmission capability of wireless transmission network communication data, a network communication data encryption design is required. An encryption and secure transmission method of wireless transmission network communication data based on wireless channel feature detection is proposed. The ECC (Elliptic Curves Cryptography) algorithm analyzes by monitoring single-channel and multi-channel samples separately. The ciphertext protocol for data secure transmission is constructed, the Hash dynamic transmission protocol is used for data access control, the data dynamic symmetric key, the key construction and arithmetic coding design are constructed. Combined with the ellipse linear mapping method, the data is encrypted safely. According to the intensity of the wireless channel feature distribution, the scrambling degree is rearranged for the random scrambling and encryption of the data, and the random linear coding method is used to realize the random scrambling and encryption of the data, so as to realize the secure transmission of network communication data and the secure storage of information. The simulation test results show that using this method to encrypt and transmit wireless transmission network communication data has better security and stronger anti-attack ability, thereby improving the secure transmission performance of network communication data.

Mirror image DNA

Molecular Biology In a world barely nascent, scientists can create mirror images of the building blocks of life, including DNA, RNA, and protein, and use them to build a mirror image of life itself. This fantastic endeavor is not an easy task. A major challenge is to create versions of enzymes, the workhorses for biosynthesis in cells, as mirror images. Fan et al. created a high-fidelity mirror image Pfu DNA polymerase. They used this enzyme to assemble a stretch of mirror image DNA containing 1500 mirror image nucleotides. The idea is that this DNA can be used as secure information storage to evade the threat of degradation by enzymes in natural organisms and the environment. Mirror image DNA survives much longer in environmental water samples than its natural counterpart. The next step is to find out how mirror biotechnology can be used to bring real-life benefits. Nat.
