A multi-scale information integration framework for infrared and visible image fusion

Infrared and visible image fusion aims at generating a fused image containing the intensity and detail information of source images, and the key issue is effectively measuring and integrating the complementary information of multi-modality images from the same scene. Existing methods mostly adopt a simple weight in the loss function to decide the information retention of each modality rather than adaptively measuring complementary information for different image pairs. In this study, we propose a multi-scale dual attention (MDA) framework for infrared and visible image fusion, which is designed to measure and integrate multi-scale complementary information in both structure and loss function at the image and patch level. In our method, the residual downsample block decomposes source images into three scales first. Then, dual attention fusion block integrates complementary information and generates a spatial and channel attention map at the same and adjacent scale for feature fusion. Finally, the output image is reconstructed by the residual reconstruction block. Loss function consists of image-level, feature-level and patch-level three parts, of which the calculation of the image-level and patch-level two parts are based on the weights generated by the complementary information measurement. Indeed, to constrain the pixel intensity distribution between the output and infrared image, a style loss is added. Our fusion results perform robust and informative across different scenarios. Qualitative and quantitative results on three datasets illustrate that our method is able to preserve both thermal radiation and detailed information from two modalities and achieve comparable results compared with the other state-of-the-art methods. Ablation experiments show the effectiveness of our information integration architecture and adaptively measure complementary information retention in the loss function. Energy Internet and Its Trusted Protection Architecture

Through the combination of new energy and Internet technology, the Energy Internet deeply integrates various complex network systems such as power, transportation and natural gas, aiming to change the energy utilization model and promote the sustainable development of economy and society. The Energy Internet takes the power grid as the "Backbone Network" , integrating the autonomous units of distributed energy, and integrating information and energy through the open-peer information and energy integration architecture. Information interaction scenarios of the Energy Internet information interaction scenarios include "human-object" , "human-human" and "object-object" . In this new interconnection mechanism environment, the lack of any security defenses may leave the Energy Internet exposed to the risk of information leakage, theft and loss, resulting in immeasurable losses. From "human-object" , "object-object" and "human-human" interaction scenarios, the paper puts forward fine-grained access control mechanism, trusted computing environment building in IoT devices and trusted communication channel construction, and designs a trusted protection architecture for the Energy Internet to ensure the data security throughout its life cycle. We verify that the proposed architecture can provide trusted environment for the Energy Internet.

Pose and shape error control in automated machining of fastener holes for composite/metal wing-box assembly

Composite/metal wing-boxes are hard to drill by the conventional drilling method. In this paper, an automated machine-tool-based machining system equipped with a multifunctional end-effector is developed for helical milling, as well as circular and ellipsoidal dimple drilling of composite/metal wing-boxes. The system constitution, the control system, and the application software of the machining system are demonstrated. In aircraft manufacturing, the out-of-tolerance pose and shape of fastener holes deteriorate an aircraft’s strength and fatigue performances. Thus, a multi-sensor information fusion and integration architecture is built for enhanced pose and shape accuracy of machined fastener holes. The relative pose error of the end-effector and an aerostructure is analyzed. A coarse-to-fine control method by the touch probe and LDSs is applied for controlling the error. The fastener holes’ shape errors are controlled through the elaborate structure design and multi-sensor-based closed-loop motion control of the end-effector. Experiments performed on the machining system show that the positioning errors, hole diameter errors, dimple depth errors, and ellipsoidal dimple shape can fulfill the wing-box assembly requirements.

Research on Integrated Deployment Method of Digital Earth Thematic Application Model

Nowadays, the digital earth not only relates to the technologies of surveying and mapping geography, but also includes the analysis and cross-application of various scientific data related to geographic information. It requires a computing environment and management for the corresponding thematic application models which supports the online analysis on the digital earth. So we proposed an integrated deployment method for digital earth thematic application models based on container cloud, which provides a flexible and scalable information integration and analysis architecture for digital earth. Firstly, a Docker image building module is designed to facilitate the user to quickly build the application model into a image. Then the Docker technology is used to implement the containerization of the application model to provide a stable running environment for the application model. Finally, the Kubernetes is used to dynamically manage the cluster resources to realize rapid expansion of computing resources. In addition, the HDFS is deployed, and the image files and various scientific data respectively store with Hbase and Apache file systems. It can ensure the read and write speed of the application model and the related data and log files. It also used zabbix framework to manage the monitoring index of the container cloud cluster to ensure the execution effect of the application model. Through the tests of typical application model, it is verified that the method can integrated deploy and apply the cross-domain, hetero-architecture, multi-version and multi-class application models on the digital earth.

A novel application integration architecture for the education industry.

Since the Ministry of Education launched Education Informatization 2.0, the digitalization of colleges and universities has entered a stage of rapid growth. However, after more than 20 years of construction, problems such as system barriers and information islands have emerged in the digital construction of university systems. In order to solve such problems between the university systems, this paper proposes an easily expandable and configurable open information integration architecture by considering traditional information integration methods and combining with Web service technology. The architecture handles user service invocation information through a service layer, and manages the registration and invocation of services through a service module. The permission module manages user permissions to prevent information leakage and security issues. The data module abstracts data-related services to provide a basis for the deep use of data. And other optional development services are designed to satisfy special requirements for different platforms. The architecture proposed in this paper can integrate different heterogeneous subsystems in colleges and universities, eliminating the problem of system barriers and information islands, and providing specifications for the construction of new applications.

A semantic-based workflow for biomedical literature annotation.

Computational annotation of textual information has taken on an important role in knowledge extraction from the biomedical literature, since most of the relevant information from scientific findings is still maintained in text format. In this endeavour, annotation tools can assist in the identification of biomedical concepts and their relationships, providing faster reading and curation processes, with reduced costs. However, the separate usage of distinct annotation systems results in highly heterogeneous data, as it is difficult to efficiently combine and exchange this valuable asset. Moreover, despite the existence of several annotation formats, there is no unified way to integrate miscellaneous annotation outcomes into a reusable, sharable and searchable structure. Taking up this challenge, we present a modular architecture for textual information integration using semantic web features and services. The solution described allows the migration of curation data into a common model, providing a suitable transition process in which multiple annotation data can be integrated and enriched, with the possibility of being shared, compared and reused across semantic knowledge bases.

Design of Information Integration Architecture using SOA

integration challenges observed from the literature review indicates that it needs to be addressed at the architectural level rather at the techniques or approach. The most significant challenge considered thereafter is to deliver a better technical methodology to facilitate an open architecture with standard interfaces to aid in information integration, interoperability and retrieval. One way to unlock the information from its containers by separating the implementation and interface is achieved through SOA. This work aims to design architecture for information integration using SOA to obtain integrated information as a service. The layers and components strive to provide all aspects of information integration in order to give complete picture. An explanation pertaining to the layers are based on roles and responsibilities and the components are based on a template. Discussion part exhibits the proposed architecture's qualities on comparing with models specified in the related work.

Design of Information Integration for Distribution System Based on IEC61968

To deal with the problem that information shares hardly and data exchanges inefficiently in distribution system, various information systems need multi-source integration. The IEC61968-based information exchange platform is an effective means to resolve the integration problem, realizing seamless data exchange and sharing of data between various subsystems. This paper mainly analyzes the Distribution Management System (DMS) information integration architecture and the message structure. Firstly, the paper proposes a design scheme of power Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) based on Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) which meeting IEC 61970/61968 standards. Meanwhile, by analyzing the message characteristic of IEC61968 standard, introduce a kind of message format which is suitable for the loosely coupled heterogeneous system with application services and integrating and information sharing. The proposed ESB architecture and message format can meet the need of data processing under different business integration scenes, so as to facilitate the information integration of distribution management system.

Web-Services-based Architecture for Information Integration in Nigeria Deregulated Electricity Market Environment

The recent handling over of the assets of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) successor companies to the core investors was a major landmark in the reform of the electric power sector in Nigeria. However, the emergence of the different autonomous utilities for running the deregulated electricity market has great consequent for the day-to-day planning and operation of the power grid. There is need to exchange information and data between applications of the entities not only to guarantee the security and efficient operation of the power grid, but also for settlement purposes. This paper proposes a Web-services-based architecture for information integration between applications of the autonomous entities in deregulated electricity market. Loosely coupled feature of Web services provides more flexible and reliable way to integrate information in heterogeneous environments resulting from the unbundled vertically integrated national grid in Nigeria.

Web Service based Information Integration Architecture in Power Systems

As growth of operational complexity in power systems, necessity of information integration between automation systems such as EMS, SAS, DAS and renewable energy sources has been increased. This paper proposes a new information integration architecture between power automation systems based on web service technique. Loosely coupled feature of web service system can provide more flexible and reliable way to exchange information. Communication testing on the demonstration system has been performed to establish the feasibility of the proposed architecture.

An ActOn-based semantic information service for Grids

We describe a semantic information service that aggregates metadata from a large number of information sources of a large-scale Grid infrastructure. It uses an ontology-based information integration architecture (ActOn) suitable for the highly dynamic distributed information sources available in Grid systems, where information changes frequently and where the information of distributed sources has to be aggregated in order to solve complex queries. These two challenges are addressed by a Metadata Cache that works with an update-on-demand policy and by an information source selection module that selects the most suitable source at a given point in time. We have evaluated the quality of this information service, and compared it with other similar services from the EGEE production testbed, with promising results.

Just-in-Time Information Delivery System for Passenger Assistance

We present a novel traveler support system designed for use by intermodal travelers who often inevitably have to collate information related to their journeys from different information sources and integrate them to make their travel decisions. We first provide a brief overview of an intermodal passenger support system called "CyberGuide," then propose an intelligent and just-in-time information retrieval agent that takes into consideration passengers' temporal and spatial contexts, and present a new architecture for information integration in which diverse information related to their journeys is supplied to travelers in a proactive but nonintrusive manner.

INTELLIGENT SEMANTIC CONCEPT MAPPING FOR SEMANTIC QUERY REWRITING/OPTIMIZATION IN ONTOLOGY-BASED INFORMATION INTEGRATION SYSTEM

Recently, ontology has been recognized as one of the most suitable global conceptual models for information integration architecture due to its easy taxonomical classification of data model and plentiful support of integrity constraint. However, the concept of mapping from global ontology to local information systems depends mostly on the simple metadata structures that allow for the mapping elements to be extracted with an If-Then-Else comparison statement. This kind of mapping is not suitable for ontology based data model in which the concepts are in the multiple subsumption relations. That is, there needs to be a semantic concept mapping in the case of a global concept that is to be mapped to the most specialized/generalized local concept in multiple Is-A structure, which cannot be mapped with simple direct one to one mapping. This kind of mapping needs inference mechanism to map one concept to substantially many target concepts in the concept inclusion hierarchy for an effective semantic query rewriting/optimization. In this paper, we provide an innovative method for semantic ontology concept mapping using Metadata-Based Logic (MBL) approach, which is equipped with knowledge inference mechanism so that the mapping elements can be reasoned automatically. We present semantic mapping patterns to accommodate subsumption problem and detect incoherence for a given global query. The experimental results gave viable results on the semantic query rewriting/optimization.

MDR과 온톨로지를 결합한 3계층 정보 통합 시스템

한 도메인 내에서 다양한 데이터베이스의 데이터를 공유하고 표준화하기 위해 MDR(Metadata Registry)을 이용하여 정보를 통합할 수 있다. 그러나 MDR을 구축하는 조직간 데이터요소 표현의 불일치 때문에 MDR간 광역적인 정보를 통합하는데 어려움이 있다. 또한 웹과 같은 다양한 데이터베이스가 존재하는 환경에서 통합된 정보를 검색하고자 하는 사용자는 각각의 데이터베이스 스키마 정보를 확보하기엔 한계가 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 MDR과 온톨로지(Ontology)를 결합한 3계층 정보 통합 시스템을 제안한다. MDR간 데이터요소의 관계를 사상시키고 표현의 불일치를 해결하기 위해 MDR의 표준성기능과 온톨로지의 개념과 관계기능을 결합한 정보 통합 모델을 정의하고 에이전트 기술을 적용한 계층적이고 독립적인 정보 통합 아키텍처를 제안한다. 온톨로지는 사용자의 질의에서 개념을 추출하기 위한 의미망(semantic network)의 역할과 MDR간의 데이터요소 관계를 설정하기 위한 기능으로 적용되었다. MDR과 지식베이스(Knowledge Base)는 데이터요소간 표현 불일치를 해결하기 위해 적용하였다. 이러한 핵심요소를 고려하여 제안된 아키텍처를 사용하여 MDR과 온톨로지를 결합한 3계층 정보 통합 시스템을 구현하였다. To share and standardize information, especially in the database environments, MDR (Metadata Registry) can be used to integrate various heterogeneous databases within a particular domain. But due to the discrepancies of data element representation between organizations, global information integration is not so easy. And users who are searching integrated information on the Web have limitation to obtain schema information for the underlying source databases. To solve those problems, in this paper, we present a 3-layered Information Integration System (LI2S) based on MDRs and Ontology. The purpose of proposed architecture is to define information integration model, which combine both of the nature of MDRs standard specification and functionality of ontology for the concept and relation. Adopting agent technology to the proposed model plays a key role to support the hierarchical and independent information integration architecture. Ontology is used as for a role of semantic network from which it extracts concept from the user query and the establishment of relationship between MDRs for the data element. (MDR and Knowledge Base are used as for the solution of discrepancies of data element representation between MDRs. Based on this architectural concept, LI2S was designed and implemented.

A data model for design knowledge

A likely system architecture for future information integration within the building industry will be an integrated backend database. The effective representation of design knowledge is one key element in this strategy. Another is support formodular evolution and change of the database structure as a design evolves. The Engineering Data Model (EDM) provides a strong foundation for defining the semantics of building design information and for suppoting extensibility. Here, we give an overview of the EDM research. We present our view of modularity and the integration of knowledge in a computerized design environment.

A frame based architecture for information integration in CIMS

This paper formulates an architecture for information integration in computer integrated manufacturing systems (CIMS). The architecture takes the frame structure as single link among applications and between applications and physical storage. All the advantages in form features based integrated systems can be found in the frame-based architecture as the frame structure here takes form features as its primitives. But other advantages, e.g., default knowledge and dynamic domain knowledge can be attached to frames and the frame structure is easy to be changed and extended, which cannot be found in form features based systems, can also be showed in frame based architecture as the frame structure is a typical knowledge representation scheme in artificial intelligence and many researches and interests have put on it.
