INCORPORATION OF ICT INTO EDUCATION: THE REQUIREMENT FOR EMERGING NATIONS TO COORDINATE ICT IN THE EDUCATING AND LEARNING OF MATHEMATICS SUCCESSFULLY

The world is growing technologically in various circles of life; education is not left out. Countries are attempting to get together with this turn of events. In the education sector, many information communication technology devices have been invented to supplement the normal customary technique for education. Numerous soft wares can be applied in educating/learning. These ICT tools are utilized in the instructing and studying of mathematics that make it clearer and more practical for students to comprehend the concepts of mathematics. Regardless the benefits of technology to the teaching of mathematics, a few nations are yet to incorporate it in their schools most particularly the developing nations. Many developed nations have incorporated the ICT into their schooling however the vast majority of the developing nations are as yet lingering behind; it might be because of their administration's disregard for the significance of the ICT use. The study reviews some related literature on ICT use. The study looks at the meaning of ICT, ICT use and mathematics learning, ICT use and developing countries’ institutions, and the benefit of ICT usage and students’ performance in mathematics.

A Cyber-Physical Power System Risk Assessment Model Against Cyberattacks

With the integration of cyber devices into power systems, such as information communication technology devices and intelligent electronic devices, there are currently a large number of software vulnerabilities (SVs) in cyber devices, which are probably used to obtain the authority of cyber devices for malicious attackers and be carried out subsequently severe attacks on power systems. Thus, it is inappropriate to only consider the power risks as the risk assessment for the system with the strong coupling between cyber systems and power systems. In this article, we investigate a dynamic risk assessment model for the cyber-physical power system (CPPS) against cyberattacks, combining the network security vulnerability of the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system in a substation and physical consequences in power systems caused by it under malicious control. By construction, a dynamic network security vulnerability assessment method for the SCADA system is well studied by considering SVs and deployed network security defense measures, which is also corrected by the propagation characteristics. Moreover, we estimate physical consequences by minimum shedding loads in N-1 contingencies caused by the SCADA system in a substation under malicious control. Finally, simulations on modified IEEE 14-bus and IEEE 118-bus systems verify the proposed model's effectiveness, highlighting the importance of network security in CPPS.

Experiences on the Utility and Barriers of Telemedicine in Healthcare Delivery in Kenya.

Telemedicine is the provision of health services over a distance using information communication technology devices. Telemedicine is emerging as a promising component of healthcare care delivery worldwide, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. This study assessed the factors promoting uptake, barriers, and opportunities for telemedicine among doctors in Kenya. Methodology. A semiquantitative, cross-sectional online survey was conducted among doctors in Kenya. During a month, between February and March 2021, 1,200 doctors were approached by email and WhatsApp, of whom 13% responded. Findings. A total of 157 interviewees participated in the study. The general usage of telemedicine was 50%. Seventy-three percent of doctors reported using a mix of in-person care and telemedicine. Fifty percent reported using telemedicine to support physician-to-physician consultations. Telemedicine had limited utility as a standalone clinical service. The inadequate information communication technology infrastructure was the most reported barrier to telemedicine, followed by a cultural resistance to using technology to deliver healthcare services. Other notable barriers were the high cost of initial setup limited skills among patients, limited skills among doctors, inadequate funding to support telemedicine services, weak legislative/policy framework, and lack of dedicated time for telemedicine services. The COVID-19 pandemic increased the uptake of telemedicine in Kenya. The most extensive use of telemedicine in Kenya supports physician-to-physician consultations. There is limited single use of telemedicine in providing direct clinical services to patients. However, telemedicine is regularly used in combination with in-person clinical services, allowing for continuity of clinical services beyond the physical hospital infrastructure. With the widespread adoption of digital technologies in Kenya, especially mobile telephone technologies, the growth opportunities for telemedicine services are immense. Numerous mobile applications will improve access capabilities for both service providers and users and bridge the gaps in care.

Effective Role of Emerging Technologies in Teaching and Learning Process

The present paper sought to analyze the effective role of modern emerging technologies in the teaching, learning process. In the advent of globalization the conventional teaching and learning process has undergone drastic changes. Due to the globalization new era of techno-savvy generation has came into existence. Due to the new learning platforms the world has become very unique. The internet, information communication technology, virtual class room system, various online learning platforms have heralded a new era which is considered to be boon for the new educational system. The application of information communication technology is recent scenario and it has become key focus for the academicians, students and research scholars. The effective integration of the ICT (Information Communication Technology) devices poses challenges to the teachers and management. The study focuses on the student centric use of ICT facilities and it's outcomes for the further development in learning process. The students can grasp the knowledge only by the use of effective technological devices. The present study takes reviews of various platforms which are available from authentic webs and apps. Any field of knowledge is not away from the touch of emerging technology. Google Classroom, Jamboard, Zoom application, Smart classrooms, Virtual classroom, Teachmint, Google Meet and Microsoft Team etc. are the effective digital platforms which are supposed to be the best way to establish student centric and effective teaching learning process. The present paper aims to explore the reciprocality between application of digital mode of the teaching and learning. This overall inclusive application of ICT is known as E-learning.

OPTIMALISASI PERAN GURU PAI TERHADAP HASIL BELAJAR SISWA MASA PANDEMI COVID-19

The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of the optimization of the role of Islamic Education teachers as teachers and evaluators of student learning outcomes during the Covid-19 pandemic at SMA Negeri 1 Payakumbuh, and to provide an understanding of the importance of the role of PAI teachers as teachers and evaluators of student learning outcomes at the time. the Covid-19 pandemic at Payakumbuh 1 High School. Using field research (field research). Collecting data by observation, interviews and documentation. Using a qualitative descriptive approach. The main informants are 4 PAI teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Payakumbuh and the supporting informants are a list of the learning outcomes of the Odd PTS for the 2020/2021 academic year. The results of this study are the role of PAI teachers as teachers and evaluators of student learning outcomes during the Covid-19 pandemic at SMA Negeri 1 Payakumbuh being applied in the following ways: 1. The teacher and the school try to maximize the existence of alumni to procure mobile phones (HP) for online learning. 2. The teacher seeks face-to-face learning with limited time for students who have poor internet coverage for online learning. 3. The teacher implements online learning for students who have information communication technology devices and internet networks through the Zoom application, Google Class Room and Whatsaap. 4. After the teacher carries out his role as a teacher during the Covid-19 pandemic, student learning outcomes are obtained in the PAI-BP Subject with scores above the KKM.

THE USE OF ICT IN LEARNING PROCESS BY VOCATIONAL TEACHERS OF ENGLISH

In the era of modernization, people are very dependent on technology, Information Communication Technology (ICT) in education itself has important role in teaching and learning process. The purpose of this study was to investigate the kind of ICT used by the teachers, the utilization of ICT in learning process, the problems and solutions in teaching by using ICT, and the role of schools in assisting teachers to overcome the problems at vocational high schools in Sekayu. This study applied descriptive qualitative research design. The data were collected by using questionnaire, interview, observation, and document review. The participants of this study were the teachers of English, the vice-principal of facility and infrastructure, and the students. The findings of this study showed that the teachers of English at vocational high schools in Sekayu used hardware such as projector, laptop, speaker, headset, and smartphone, while software such as internet, dictionary application, e-book, Microsoft office, and browsing application. The teachers used discovery learning to utilize ICT in the syntax of the learning model. The main problem faced by the teacher was the unavailability of students� personal ICT devices. The school also had the role to assist teachers in overcoming the problems. The conclusion was the teachers had applied ICT in the learning process however they did not fully apply ICT in each syntax of the learning model used.

INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY TRAINING IN FULFILLING INCLUSIVE EDUCATION AS THE ACHIEVEMENT OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDGS) POINTS 4

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) covers 17 goals with 169 measurable achievements and deadlines determined by the United Nations in 2015 as the world development agenda for the benefits of human beings and the Earth. The joint development ambition is set to be done in 2030. For the community service discussed in this article, the team focuses on the 4th goal, namely quality education. The goal ensures the quality of inclusive and equitable education, and promotes a lifetime learning opportunities for all. The practical objectives of such education include direct goals by children, teachers, parents, and the community. Such education means providing equal and fair opportunities for all disregarding their backgrounds, circumstances, economic abilities, etc., which are considered as obstacles to obtain education. The development of Information Communication Technology (ICT) has touched many fields in everyday life and is no exception for persons with disabilities. For persons with disabilities, ICT devices are widely used to support and ease the process of completing tasks and encourage creativity. The ICT training for educators and caregivers is an educational process aiming to provide sufficient understanding on the use of ICT device systems as supporting systems for completing daily tasks thus increasing productivity.

Effect of Access to ICT on Food Insecurity Among Farming Households in Nigeria

The task of fighting food insecurity and poverty remains a moving target for policy makers in Nigeria. The fact that agriculture employs 70 percent of the active labour force and the country is food insecure shows there is more to be desired. However, little is known about food insecurity and Information Communication Technology (ICT) among farmers in Nigeria using a national representative data. Therefore, this study examined the effect of ICT on food insecurity among farming households in Nigeria. The General Household Survey Panel dataset (GHS-Panel) collected by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in 2013 was used for this study. Data from a total of 2,240 farming households were analysed. The study adopted Foster, Greer and Thorbecke Methodology (FGT), Descriptive statistical tools and Probit regression model for the analysis of relevant data. This study found 43 percent of farming households were food insecure. The average age of household heads was 52 years with fairly large household size of 7. The most commonly used ICT devices are radio, television and mobile phones. Again, households that have access to ICT were found to be less food insecure. The probit regression analysis showed household size, location (rural or urban), zone of residence (North Central, North East, North West and South West), distance to market, marital status, access to radio, access to television and access to mobile phones were the determinants of food insecurity among farming households in Nigeria. This study therefore recommended, increased campaigns on family planning among farming households by government and multilateral organisations. Also, government and organised private sector should provide adult literacy training programs for farmers to improve their literacy skills and use of ICT. Finally, government should subsidize food prices for food insecure farming households especially those in rural Nigeria.

Wrong Use of Internet and Neglect of Library by Nigerian University Students: An Implication for English Studies

<p>With the advent of Information Communication Technology (ICT) tools like mobile phones, computer, satellite TV, smartphones, internet, among several other devices, gross neglect use of libraries is very rampant among Nigerian students while a tremendous use of the ICT devices is on the increase. This has led to “Stereotyping” and “Xeroxing” of what ought to be a serious academic work as only a few students are regarded as ardent users of libraries. The population of the study consists of two government-owned universities and two privately owned universities in the North Central Zone of Nigeria. Random sampling technique was employed to select 25 male and 25 female students from each of the four universities, but only 196 students out of 200 made available their questionnaire that was used in computing the result. Two library experts and two English experts’ advice were sought on the questionnaire for content validity. The instrument was subjected to test re-test technique producing 0.57 at 0.05 alpha level of significant. The finding of the result showed that very high percentage of the respondents favoured the use of ICT related gadgets for their academic pursuit. Based on this, it was concluded that the use of ICT related gadgets now affects students’ serious academic work since they rely mostly on stereotype and Xerox kinds of studying. To this end, it was recommended among other things that teachers should, as a matter of seriousness, cross check all submitted assignments by students to make sure that they are devoid of stereotype or Xerox.</p>

The Web Service Framework for SaaS in Cloud Computing Environment

Software is also an integral part of other major ICT (information communication technology) equipment and devices, such as hardware, network, end-user communications equipment and carrier services. Recently software area has changing their using method from traditional ways to providing their process as a service. That is web service based SaaS in cloud computing. In this research, we consider the framework to process web service on SaaS, cloud computing environment. For this process, the framework has service search agent, service management mediator, UDDI server and web service inform.

Understanding and exploiting idiosyncrasy in the use of ICT devices such as tablets

PurposeWhen using information communication technology (ICT) devices it is easy to be trapped by purely the purpose of their design, how they are marketed, product reviews and noting, or even copying, the behaviour of the younger, Net Generation. The purpose of this column is to argue for encouraging all to contribute to deepening our understanding of fully exploiting technology. This includes encouraging people who may be less techno‐savvy but with a richer life‐world and life‐experience to share their use of devices such as tablets, and to allow all to benefit from the idiosyncrasy in use that should be aimed at a life‐fit with personality, learning style, preferences, etc., and widening information spaces and information horizons.Design/methodology/approachThe column is written against the background of research from information behaviour, and the learning sciences (especially andragogics).FindingsThere are many reasons to explore more than the obvious ways in which ICT devices such as tablets can be used, and for encouraging a spectrum of users to share the idiosyncrasies in their use thereof. Library and information (LIS) services should move from merely teaching people information literacy and ICT skills to creating grounds for sharing practices and experiences in using devices such as tablets. The focus should move to exploiting the benefit of exploring idiosyncrasies in ICT use and how to encourage people to reflect their life‐world and life‐experience in their use of ICT devices such as tablets to widen their (and our) information spaces and information horizons.Originality/valueAlthough much has been published on ICT in the library and information science literature and more recently in relation to the Net Generation, the author is not aware of publications exploiting idiosyncrasy and the value that can be added by considering the life‐world and life‐experience of people in their choices in using ICT devices such as tablets. This paper sets the background for further reflection.

We have been working on technologies of accessing to single molecules and quantum dots by nanogap electrodes and exploring device applications of novel physics manifested in such nanotransistors.

Information communication technology (ICT) - its waste and consequences

Information Communication Technology (ICT) growth is important for achieving the millennium development goal. It has the revolutionary actions which create changes in the official processes and invoke tremendous change in this field as people are more dependent on the ICT products and services like mobile phones, computers and laptops. The serious concern which the author tries to highlight in this paper is the improper handling of ICT devices and huge amount of waste generated by electronic companies and other anthropogenic activities. Study is focused on unmanaged ICT-wastes and their related health hazard due to the emission of electromagnetic waves in its manufacturing and disposal process. At the discussion it is highlighted that ICT-waste management practices are now opening new door of employment with specialised logistics for the collection and effective treatment of ICTwastes during recycling, avoids dissemination of the hazardous pollutants to the environment and their effect on health.
