Knowledge and Access to Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) services among Research Faculties of CCS HAU, Hisar

The study was carried to determine the knowledge and access of ICTs services among the research faculties of CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar. All the colleges of university were selected. Data were collected personally from 120 research faculties selected by simple random sampling technique through a structured questionnaire and analyzed with the help of appropriate statistical tools by using 26 version (SPSS). The findings revealed that majority of the respondents were male having age between 37-47 years with PhD with NET having service experience of 6-10 years belonged to nuclear type of family and had medium family educational status. Knowledge and access regarding MS office and online ICT applications was medium to high among majority of the respondents. Moreover, knowledge and access regarding internet were medium to low while knowledge and access regarding scientific portal/website/tools was found low among respondents.

ICT Education and Determinants of Acceptance Amongst Smallholder Farmers in Mbombela, South Africa

The study was carried out in Mbombela District, Mpumalanga, South Africa. The study aimed to assess selected farmers' acceptance of information and communication technology (ICTs). The study used a quantitative approach. Probability sampling was used as a quantitative approach. Random sampling was used, and 285 samples were sampled from a sampling frame of 380 farmers in the study area. Structured and semi-structured questionnaires were used to elicit necessary information from respondents, while focus group discussions were employed to validate in-depth responses. The binary logistics regression was used to determine significant variables that influence the acceptance of ICT. The results showed that the most accessible ICT tools to farmers were radio, mobile phones, and television. However, contemporary ICT tools such as the internet and flash drives were rarely accessible to the respondents. The study also found that demographic variables such as age (P< 0.000), level of education (P< 0.020), household size (P< 0.053), ICT support (P< 0.014) and extension services ( P< 0.019) were the explanatory variables that affect the acceptance of ICT. Logistics regression results reveal that some variables were significant and positively related to the acceptance of ICT. The paper concludes that the effective application of ICT provides farmers with greater access to information and knowledge, which helps improve their production process.

The Impact of Information and Communication Technologies on Hotel Competitiveness

This study aims to analyze the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) as a competitiveness factor by hotel companies located in Inhambane and Macaneta, Mozambique. This is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. For data collection, a semi-structured interview script was used, which was applied to ten hotel managers from Inhambane and Macaneta (five participants in each case). The data was analyzed using categorical content analysis. The results showed that the interviewees recognize the importance of technology for the hotel's competitiveness, but do not use software, limiting themselves to simpler programs. It was found that Wi-Fi services and the use of social networks are perceived as sources of competitive advantage in the context investigated. The research points to practical contributions that shed light on the need to make resources available for the application of ICT in the hotel sector.

Reducing poverty by digitization: what role do information and communication technologies (ICTs) play in reducing poverty?

PurposeThe objective of this study is to address this central question: “What role do ICTs play in reducing poverty?”Design/methodology/approachFirst, in this study, we defined poverty in terms of its roots within health, economic development and education. Then, we conducted a systematic review of the information and communication technologies (ICTs) literature. From our analysis, we proposed a series of subsidiary questions and in-depth answers about the impact of ICTs on alleviating health-related, economic and educational causes of poverty.FindingsThis study observed positive effects of ICTs on healthcare, economic and educational dynamics and concluded that the development of more advanced infrastructure and greater access to such technology can amplify that impact.Originality/valueThis article explains how applications of ICT across sectors can substantially enhance quality of life and give people an opportunity to take control of their health-related, economic and educational futures. This study uniquely affords an integrative analysis of research and new thought about how to integrate key ICTs for more effective initiatives and investments to reduce poverty.

The Influence of Gender and Training Sector on the ICT Competency of Pre-Service Teachers in Vietnam: Using the UNESCO ICT Competency Framework

Information and communication technology (ICT) is a powerful educational change and reform tool. Teachers are a direct subject in promoting the application of information technology (IT), and the ability to integrate technology into teaching affects the application of IT in teaching. Integrating ICT into education requires teachers to be competent in using ICT. In other words, teachers are required to have sufficient ICT competence to use ICT for education. Faced with this requirement, teacher training schools have made positive changes to improve the ICT capacity of pedagogy students and prepare graduates to perform their duties in the context of digital transformation in education today. This study collected information on pre-service teachers’ competency in using ICT as future teachers in Vietnam. Using the ICT competency framework of UNESCO, the research surveyed 1698 fourth year teaching students (pre-service teachers) from 10 provinces in 3 regions of Vietnam. The results indicate that although pre-service teachers in Vietnam are well educated on ICT policy issues in education, for the issue of ICT exploitation to support curriculum implementation and assessment, they still need ICT skills to support effective teaching and learning methods. In addition, there are significant differences in gender and training specialization in some aspects, such as the application of digital skills and the use of ICT in organization and administration. These results are the basis for in-depth research into establishing influencing factors and measures to improve the ICT application competency of pre-service teachers, contributing to ensuring the quality of education in Vietnam.

The Role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in E-Government: A Literature Review of Sustainable Development Aspects

The development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) makes the world more borderless and communication in various sectors easier. ICT has penetrated individual, organizational, and social barriers. The impact of ICT does not only occur in private companies or organizations but also public organizations. The application of E-Government is a form of ICT application in the public sector. E-Government is a process of using ICT as a new instrument in providing public services more effectively and efficiently. This study aims to provide an overview of the role of ICT in E-Government, which supports aspects of sustainable development in the economic, social, and environmental fields. The method used to collect research data is a literature review and data analysis techniques through a qualitative approach. The results of the study show that E-Government is able to support sustainable development from both economic, social, and environmental aspects.This research recommends that government agencies must continue to innovate, especially by involving ICT and e-government in their public services. It is important because the use of this technology can support sustainability issues in various fields. Then, various studies across sectors are also needed so that comparisons can be developed regarding the challenges that need to be faced in establishing cooperation.

Research Field of Informatization in Special Education: Bibliometric Analysis of International Trends in Recent 15 Years

In the current era of educational informatization, the integration of information and communication technology (ICT) into special education has witnessed significant growth. Utilizing the expansive Scopus database and leveraging the Bibliometrix tool, this study systematically examines 130 scholarly documents within the domain of special education informatization, spanning the years from 2006 to 2021. Complementing a quantitative analysis, the study conducts a qualitative examination of 10 pivotal and widely cited works in the field. The research findings unveil a primary focus on the diverse application of ICT in special education, particularly its effectiveness in the diagnosis and intervention for various categories of special needs. Noteworthy concentrations of research output are identified, with a clear emphasis on publications in prestigious journals such as the International Journal of Emerging Technologies In Learning, Revista Brasileira De Educacao Especial, and Technology & Disability. Furthermore, the examination brings to light the dominance of keywords like "special education" and "information technology" in the literature, underscoring their pivotal role and persistent significance in the discourse. The consistent recurrence of these terms highlights their critical influence in shaping the landscape of special education informatization research. In conclusion, this comprehensive bibliometric analysis provides valuable insights into the trajectory of special education informatization research, elucidating key thematic areas and prominent journals. As the educational landscape continues to evolve, a nuanced understanding of the dynamics of ICT integration in special education becomes imperative for educators, policymakers, and researchers. This study serves as a foundational resource for further exploration and advancement in the ever-evolving field of special education.

The Role of Information and Communication Technology in Interactive Learning

This article is the result of an in-depth literature review on the role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the context of interactive learning. Education has undergone a significant transformation with the adoption of ICT, transforming the traditional way of learning into a more dynamic and participatory learning experience. The purpose of this literature review is to analyse the positive impact of ICT in shaping interactive learning environments, explore the use of multimedia in the learning process, and identify the challenges and opportunities associated with the application of ICT in education. This literature review describes the transformation of learning through ICT, explaining the paradigm shift from conventional approaches to more adaptive and collaborative interactive learning. The results of this literature review illustrate how important the role of ICT is in shaping the future of education that is more interactive, inclusive and relevant to the demands of the times. Through collaboration between educational institutions, government, and the technology industry, as well as a careful pedagogical approach, ICT can be a catalyst to optimise the learning process and empower students to face the complexities of the modern world.

The Use of ICTs in Front Office Department

This research project investigates the effective implementation and impact of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) within the Front Office Department of hotels. The study aims to evaluate the contribution of ICTs to operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and overall performance in customer-facing organisational functions. Utilising a cluster sampling approach, incorporating surveys, and case studies, the research assesses the current usage of ICT tools, identifies challenges and opportunities, and proposes strategies for improved integration. The study explores the diverse ICT applications adopted by front office departments, including customer relationship management (CRM) systems, communication platforms, and data analytics tools. The research assesses the efficacy of these technologies in streamlining processes, enhancing communication, and cultivating a responsive and customer-centric environment. The findings offer valuable insights for both academic researchers and industry practitioners that are seeking a comprehensive understanding of the ways in which ICTs influence front office operations. The research not only highlights successful implementations but also addresses potential hurdles and considerations for hotels aiming to harness ICTs for optimal front office performance. Lastly, the study provides a solid foundation for future research and offers practical recommendations to guide hotels in elevating their front office capabilities through thoughtful ICT integration.

DIGITAL EMPOWERMENT IN EDUCATION: EXPLORING THE DYNAMICS AND SIGNIFICANCE OF ICT – A REVIEW

In the wake of the unprecedented global transformations triggered by the pandemic, various sectors underwent profound changes, with Education being notably affected. This prompted the exploration of novel approaches and refined methodologies to sustain continuous learning without encountering disruptions. Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) emerged as pivotal change agents in the realm of education. Teaching, acknowledged as a profession that shapes individuals' character and destinies, faced challenges in adapting to digital platforms. This study delves into the digital literacy of educators, the hurdles encountered in embracing ICT, and the application of ICT in diverse teaching scenarios. Data for this research were gathered from faculty members across different undergraduate colleges in Bangalore city. ICTs have evolved into potent tools for fostering effective teaching and learning experiences. Notably, the assimilation of ICTs has heightened educators' confidence, transforming lessons into more engaging and interactive experiences for students. Observations suggest that the prudent use of ICT can serve as a catalyst, revolutionizing traditional teaching methods and ushering in an era of blended learning. The inclusion of diverse resources and technologies represents a significant development, benefiting both students and faculty members and ultimately ensuring the delivery of quality education. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Recruitment Process in Public Organizations: A Study of Nigeria Police Force, Ebonyi State Command

The importance of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the recruitment process cannot be underestimated. That explains why organizational human resources managers, the Nigeria Police Force inclusive, have integrated it into the all-important exercise. Therefore, this study examined the effect of application of ICT on recruitment process in the public sector organizations with particular reference to the Nigeria Police Force, Ebonyi State Command. The study was anchored on Technological Determinism theory espoused by Thorstein Veblen (1857-1929). The study adopted descriptive survey design with a sample size of 400. Data were generated through structured questionnaire designed in 5 Likert scale. Chi-square inferential statistics were used to test the formulated hypotheses. The study revealed among others – that the use of online recruitment platform has significantly facilitated teeming qualified citizens’ access to job openings in the Nigeria Police Force, Ebonyi State Command; that the use of online recruitment portal has significantly enhanced appointment of competent staff in the Nigeria Police Force, Ebonyi State Command. The implication of the findings is that the adoption of ICT without human manipulations is key to institutionalization of meritocracy in the exercise. The study recommended as follows among others – that the Nigeria Police Force should ensure sustenance of the use of ICT in the recruitment process so as to attract qualified candidates to the security outfit; that the use of ICT should be given free hand during the recruitment exercise in order to facilitate emergence of most competent and skillful candidates.

A skills framework in the context of a digital ecosystem: an engine for social inclusion in developing countries

Colombia has experienced a remarkable economic expansion in recent times, but it is still a country with a high level of inequality. The Gini index evidenced that fact with 51.3% in 2019, which shows that Colombia has one of the highest levels of inequality in Latin America, particularly in certain regions. Furthermore, in 2020, 42.5% of the population lived in poverty, around 21.02 million individuals, and this figure increased by 3.6 million due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These levels are similar to those recorded 20 years ago (Balakrishnan et al., 2021). Besides, Colombia experienced a peak unemployment rate of 43% during the peak of the pandemic in 2020. By the end of that year, the rate had decreased to 15.9%, but this still represents an increase of 1.3 million people who were unemployed compared to 2019. Colombia has pursued the transformation of its commodity-based economic system to knowledge based assets; therefore, information and communication technologies (ICTs) are essential to foster the economic growth of the country and also play an essential role in meeting the sustainable development objectives proposed by the United Nations (Bogdan-Martin, 2017; United Nations, 2018; United Nations, 2015; United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, 2018). Several ICT applications have been implemented to reduce the gaps among individuals, including the use of Big Data to analyze marginalized communities, improve government services, provide farmers with relevant information, promote education and telemedicine, facilitate the purchase and sale of goods and services, offer financial services, and foster collaborative networks (Bauer, 2018, p. 6; Bogdan-Martin, 2017; Nielsen et al., 2018). Governments invest significant budgets in infrastructure such as Internet and computers to achieve this aim. Nonetheless, some Latin American do not achieve the same outcomes as developed nations. According to the ICTs Development Index, the highest-ranked Latin American country is Uruguay at the 42nd place, followed by Argentina (51st) and Chile (56th) (International Telecommunication Union (ITU), 2017b). In the IMD World Digital Competitiveness Ranking of 2019, out of 63 economies, Chile ranked 42nd, Mexico ranked 49th, Brazil ranked 57th, Colombia ranked 58th and Argentina ranked 59th (Brits and Cabolis, 2019) Internet is crucial in aspects such as the acquisition of new and improved skills, better employment opportunities, and the expansion of productive activities (ITU, 2017a; Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), 2016b, p. 8; ITU, 2018a). The Internet also plays a crucial role in supporting innovation and entrepreneurship because it promotes information sharing, stimulates the creation of new businesses, facilitates the commercialization of new ideas, and explores new sources of income (OECD, 2016b, p. 9).

Psychology of information and communication technologies users as a new research area

Introduction. The unprecedented spread of information and communication technologies (ICT) in various social activities is causing significant changes in human life. Therefore, researchers should focus on studying the impact of ICT on the modern society as a whole as well as on the cognitive processes and behaviors of specialists who work with information. Aim. To highlight the main areas of research into the impact of information and communication technologies on the daily social life as well as on the personality of Internet users. Methods. Application of ICT for Self-Organization and Self-Development of the Individual (Vynoslavska, 2015) and Advantages and Disadvantages of Using ICT in the Educational Process (Vynoslavska, 2016). Results. The relevance of the study is confirmed by the list of modern scientific literature on the impact of ICT on the daily life of society, in particular on the cognitive and personal development of the individual. The article analyzes the opinions of the technical university teachers and students as advanced Internet users about the advantages and disadvantages of ICT, the dynamics of Ukrainian Internet users’ opinions about the negative impact of online work (2012-2022), and compares the obtained data with the results of foreign studies. Prospects for further research in psychology of ICT users are outlined. Conclusions. The information presented in the article can be useful in researching the problems of social psychology of ICT users as well as the psychological consequences of their online work.

The role of periodical scientific publications in developing professional habits of library specialists in Azerbaijan and their role in Pedagogy

The main aim of the article is to explore the role of periodical scientific publications and their role in pedagogy. Successful state policy in the field of building an information-aware society in the Republic of Azerbaijan, adopted state programs and normative-legal documents make it necessary to solve the issues of reconstruction and development of scientific activity on the basis of modern information and communication technologies (ICT) within the framework of reforms in science. The application of ICT in scientific activities and issues of scientific management is implemented within the framework of electronic science as one of the priority directions of reforms in the field of science in the Republic. The construction and development of scientific activity in accordance with modern requirements, the improvement of scientific management, the formation of a national scientific and informational space, the creation of close ties between scientific organizations, collectives and scientists, the improvement of the efficiency of scientific management and research in all areas of science in the modern world due to the wide use of opportunities for ICT development at the level of standards and integration into the world scientific space are relevant issues nowadays. After the restoration of the state independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as a result of the gradual integration of academic librarians into the international scientific environment, new quality requirements appeared. The informational needs of specialists began to be met in three directions. Firstly, scientific-theoretical and experimental problems, published and presented in important scientific journal titled "Respublika" (Republic). Azerbaijani scientists participated more comprehensively and productively on this platform. Scientific innovations, innovative projects and analytical works of scientists were reflected on this platform. Additinally, the merits of professor A. A. Khalafov in compiling educational programs in the areas of library work, bibliography and bookkeeping, writing educational literature, presenting scientific articles in the scientific press, and, at the same time, in training specialists who meet new requirements were great. In the same year, Professor H.Ismailov, who for a long time was the dean of the Faculty of Libraries and Informatics of Baku State University, along with the training of professional specialists, founded the scientific and practical journal "Library and Bibliography" in 1997 and organized its activities, and for a long time he was the only Azerbaijan specialized scientific journal, distinguished by high professionalism. In 2010, Professor A. A. Khalafov founded the scientific and applied journal "Librarianship and Information", soon the first issue of the journal was published. The article is based on the method of comparative analysis. Application importance: the material can be used in lecturers and seminars in Higher Education Institutions.

Information and communication technology (ICT) facilitates quick and easy access to a wide range of information and information resources worldwide for students and teachers. Due to the importance of ICT in learning, it is necessary to identify factors that might influence its integration into the educational environment. This study examined the relationship between motivation, self- efficacy and the use of information and communication technology for learning among college students in Kwara State. This study also examined the influence of gender on motivation, self-efficacy and the use of ICT for learning This research is a descriptive design using the cross sectional survey method. The study samples were taken from one federal, one state and one private university (three universities) in Kwara state. The respondents were 296 students (170 boys and 126 girls and 54 arts, 104 social studies and 138 students. As a result it can be recommended that adequate support should be provided to students to obtain ICT resources and applications for the improvement of their studies, also teachers should integrate the use of ICT in their lessons regularly to encourage students to use it.

Effect of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) on Accounting Practice in Nigeria

This study examined the effect of information and communication technology (ICT) on accounting practice in Nigeria. The specific objectives of the study are to ascertain the effect of information and communication technology (ICT) on efficiency of accounting practices in Nigeria and to determine whether the application of ICT ensure timely delivery of accounting practices. This study also went through the application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in efficiency and speeding up of accounting practice in Nigeria and how this has ensure efficient delivery of accounting works. Survey method was adopted and questionnaire was the major source of data collection. Data collected were analyzed with five point likert’s scale and ANOVA was used to test the formulated hypotheses with the aids of SPSS version 20.0. Findings revealed that the application of ICT has positive effect on efficiency of accounting practice and ensure timely delivery of accounting works in Nigeria. The study thereby recommends that preparers of accounting information should adopt ICT in all aspect of accounting practices for effectiveness. It also recommends enhancement of staff knowledge on ICT application since it ensure timely delivery of accounting work in Nigeria.

Strengthening Social Capital to Address Isolation and Loneliness in Long-Term Care Facilities During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Systematic Review of Research on Information and Communication Technologies.

The COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionately and severely affected older adults, namely those living in long-term care facilities (LTCFs). Aside from experiencing high mortality rates, survivors were critically concerned by social isolation and loneliness (SIL). To address this serious public health concern and stay connected with LTCF residents, information and communication technology (ICT) platforms (eg, video calls) were used as an alternative to maintaining social interactions amid the visiting restriction policy. This paper aimed to synthesize the effects of ICT-related communication interventions using SMS text messaging or chat, video, voice mail, or photo to address SIL in LTCF residents during the COVID-19 pandemic. In total, 2793 references published in English and French in 2019 and onward were obtained from 10 relevant databases: PsycINFO-Ovid, Ovid-MEDLINE, CINAHL-EBSCO, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Scopus, DirectScience, Communication & Mass Media Complete, IEEE Xplore, and ACM Digital Library. A 2-person screening approach was used, and the studies were screened independently and blindly. A narrative synthesis was performed to interpret the results of the included studies, and their quality was appraised. In total, 4 studies were included in the review. ICT-related applications were used to ensure connectedness to address SIL. ICT interventions consisted mainly of videoconferencing, intergroup video call sessions between residents, and chatting (SMS text messages and phone calls). Roughly 3 classes of mediating ICT tools were used: video calls using software applications (eg, Skype); robot systems embedding video telephones; and ordinary telecommunication such as telephone, internet, social media platforms, and videoconferencing. This review has included the role of humanoid robots in LTCFs as an innovation avenue because of their multipurpose use (eg, communication tools and remotely operable). Remote social capitalization through ICT applications has become an avenue to reduce SIL among LTCF residents. This review examined a social connection approach that will remain relevant and even be fostered after the COVID-19 pandemic. As families remain the main stakeholders of LTCFs, this study's findings could inform policy makers and frontline managers to better shape programs and initiatives to prevent or reduce SIL in LTCFs. On the Use of ICT by Enterprises to Activate Industrial Heritage

Despite the increasing use of information and communications technology (ICT) by enterprises engaged in industrial heritage, the academic community lacks sufficient understanding of how ICT enables the sustainable development of industrial heritage. This article fills this gap by analyzing the application of ICT by Taoxichuan Ceramic Art Avenue (the Company) to promote its organizational innovation and achieve the sustainable development of industrial heritage. To start with, the authors conceptualized the two stages, adaptive change, and breakthrough change, of ICT-induced organizational changes in industrial heritage. Secondly, they extended the research of affordance from the technical field to the social theory field and proposed the concept of organizational affordance. Finally, the authors provided suggestions for future research to employ organizational affordance to deepen our understanding of relevant fields.
