Co-Designing in Cultural Tourism: TExTOUR ICT Services and Performance Monitoring System

The enhancement of cultural heritage for tourism can greatly benefit from the opportunities offered by Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), promoting greater interaction and integration between all stakeholders and service providers. In recent years, ICT applications and platforms have tended to provide a platform to translate the strategic goals and performance metrics of cultural heritage tourism into comprehensive services tailored to stakeholders’ needs by participating stakeholders. A successful co-designed platform integrates explicit services—requiring specialized software tools—and implicit services, facilitating evaluation processes. This adaptability ensures continuous improvement and alignment with evolving strategies and business objectives. As part of the European project, the development of the TExTOUR open ICT platform marks a significant advancement in leveraging technology within cultural tourism. It exemplifies the creation of a sustainable and adaptable framework, co-designed specifically to support and amplify the strategic objectives of cultural heritage tourism. This approach not only fosters better engagement and management within the sector but also sets a new standard for innovation in cultural tourism practices.

ICT ADOPTION AMONG REAL ESTATE AGENTS IN MALAYSIA

The success of real estate agents relies on the ability to provide better services to their clients efficiently and seamlessly. The use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is benefiting real estate agents by making it more convenient for real estate agents to find clients, advertise the property, and facilitate the property transaction process, which is indubitable. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to assess the level of ICT usage by real estate agents in valuation and agency firms in Klang Valley, Malaysia. Data were gathered through a survey conducted with these firms, and 400 responses were collected using a quantitative study and analysed using descriptive statistics and the Relative Importance Index (RII) ranking. The study revealed that most respondents adopt ICT in their practices, with the most frequently used tools being Mobile Instant Messaging, Social Media, and Real Estate Agent Websites. However, technologies such as Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Robotic Process Automation, and Metaverse Real Estate are rarely utilised. The study concluded that the widespread application of ICT in real estate is evident. However, inadequate training, higher cost of acquisition, and shortage of skilled people are the barriers that limit its full potential within the sector. This study recommends that the top management of valuation and agency firms provide training programs and ongoing support that cater to the specific needs of real estate agents.

Information technology-based environmental management: A review

This study aimed to describe the role of information and communication technologies (ICT) in the management of natural resources. We conducted a systematic review of 320 articles from academic databases like Scopus, Latindex, Scielo, Dialnet, Redalyc, and Google, scanning the period from 2018 to 2023. We selected forty articles that discussed the application of ICT in predicting and mitigating issues related to climate change, erosion, environmental pollution, drought, and floods. The results indicated that climate change is one of the main drivers of environmental problems such as droughts and floods. Therefore, we concentrated our efforts on developing technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), the use of sensors, the Internet, and others. These tools make it possible to manage large amounts of information in real time and make informed decisions to prevent the aforementioned environmental problems. Despite the success of new technologies, it is important to note that they are not within the reach of the entire population due to the existing gap between the most technologically developed countries and those that are lagging. Therefore, we need to make additional efforts to enhance accessibility to technologies, enabling all countries to reap their benefits. In addition, efficient management of natural resources is required to minimize soil and water pollution. This implies the adoption of sustainable practices in the productive sector.

From books to bytes: a systematic review of the role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in academic library administration

The role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in administration is crucial as academic libraries transition from traditional repositories to dynamic digital platforms. This Systematic Literature Review (SLR) delves into ICT's impacts and applications in academic library management. The study focused on: the mechanisms and extent of ICT adoption in administrative functions, the discernible benefits and challenges associated with the deployment of ICT; and the prospective trajectories for ICT utilisation in academic libraries. Following a rigorous review methodology, twenty-six (26) peer-reviewed articles from 2020 to 2023, sourced from ScienceDirect and Web of Science, were reviewed. Findings highlight diverse applications of ICT, ranging from operational tasks such as cataloguing and analytics to strategic responsibilities like decision-making and planning. Significantly, the study uncovers latent research gaps, especially in emerging technologies, ethical ramifications, and geographical nuances, thereby delineating avenues for future academic endeavours . Additionally, the study sheds light on the variegated nature of ICT applications, pointing to success factors, challenges including digital divides, and security concerns. Thus, the study serves as a historical evaluation and prospective guide for scholars, administrators, and policymakers, delineating the intricate interplay between technological innovation, human factors, and strategic planning in academic library administration.

Tinjauan Pengetahuan Petugas Rekam Medis Dalam Peralihan Rekam Medis Manual Ke Rekam Medis Elektronik Di Puskesmas Kabupaten Tapin

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems have become an inseparable part in various aspects of life, including health services. Electronic Medical Records (RME) is a form of application of ICT in the health service system through computerization of patient data. RME development requires an assessment of the readiness to implement RME from the aspects of human resources, governance leadership, organizational culture and infrastructure. This study aimed to research is to determine the knowledge of medical records officers in transitioning manual medical records to electronic medical records at the Tapin Regency Health Center. The results of this study indicate that most of the medical record officers' knowledge is in transition manual medical records to electronic medical records mostly 17 people (60.7%) have sufficient knowledge. It would be better if the education of medical records officers at community health centers is well-educated behind the medical recorder so that they can carry out services in the medical records unit well and competently in their field because with appropriate education it will influence the officers' knowledge to be better and training is held to increase knowledge for medical record officers regarding the use of Electronic Medical Records (RME).

Application of Information and Communication Technology(ICT) in the Services of Public and Academics Libraries in Pangasinan

The intensifying era of Information communication technology (ICT) really brought great changes, especially in libraries. Both positive and negative effects of the application of such are visible to librarians and to users. Different challenges regarding the application of ICT in libraries are also encountered.Considering the importance of ICT in libraries, the researchers conducted this study to determine the level of application of ICT in the services of public and academic libraries in Pangasinan in order to enhance the access, storage,and process of information and to improve the operation services of these libraries. This study used a descriptive method of research. A descriptive research method is used to describe, as well as explain, or validate some sort of hypothesis or objective when it comes to a specific group of people (McNeill, 2018). The questionnaire was used as the data gathering instrument aided with an interview technique in order to validate the answer. The researchers made use of frequency count, percentage, and mean as statistical tools. Results show that both public and academic libraries have available hardware facilities. Computer servers, workstations, net servers, and printers are 100 percent available in these libraries. Moreover, Online databases are the most available resources for information retrieval. On the other hand, Lack of funds/financial assistance was the most identified challenge by the librarians in the application of ICT. Further, a Pooled mean of 2.86 was rated and interpreted as moderately applied concerning the level of application of ICT in their respective libraries both in technical and reader’s services. Based on the findings of this study, it can be concluded that the application of ICT in the library services of public and academic libraries in Pangasinan is not yet at its highest, but advancing it to its fullest is possible if the school administrators and local government will give and provide their full support on ICT project of libraries.

Optimizing Information and Communication Technology for Students with Special Needs at India’s Higher Education Institutions

Every person is entitled to a fair and just education and to be recognized as a vital member of the educational community, irrespective of their gender, race, colour, ethnic or social background, genetic characteristics, language, religion or belief, political or other viewpoints, involvement in a national minority, wealth, birth, or disability. Teachers should possess knowledge of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and its potential in Higher Education to effectively address learning obstacles, enhance student retention rates and academic performance, and foster student autonomy and motivation to study. This study emphasized the concept of ICT, different ICT products, ICT applications, and the benefits of ICT for students with special needs.

Examining changes in foreign language educators’ attitudes towards the use of computer-assisted learning

As digital technologies continue to permeate all aspects of contemporary society, the educational domain, particularly foreign language teaching, has also significantly transformed. During the 1990s, the introduction of information and communication technologies (ICT) into language teaching was initially met with enthusiasm among educators. However, what originally started as integrating multimedia resources into the learning environment soon escalated into a comprehensive transformation, which included innovations such as online platforms and adaptive learning systems that became part of language teaching curricula. This evolution led to fundamental changes in pedagogical approaches, teacher-student communication, and the overall educational setting within classrooms. As digital technologies evolved and diversified, so did the attitudes of language teachers, whose initial enthusiastic welcome transformed into growing doubt. This research aimed to investigate how digital technologies within the domain of language instruction are utilized and to explore the prevailing attitudes regarding their implementation. The study spanned two decades: the periods from 1990 to 2000 and from 2013 to 2023. Semantic literature analysis of 300 scientific publications was used to determine the educators’ reactions toward the application of ICT, which were categorized into positive, negative, mixed, and research-oriented attitudes. Additionally, a survey of 88 foreign language teachers was conducted to collect empirical data. A clear trend is observed in how language educators perceive and apply technologies in their classrooms. The authors concluded that these tools remain popular among educators despite increasing skepticism and caution regarding ICT efficacy.

Knowledge and Access to Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) services among Research Faculties of CCS HAU, Hisar

The study was carried to determine the knowledge and access of ICTs services among the research faculties of CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar. All the colleges of university were selected. Data were collected personally from 120 research faculties selected by simple random sampling technique through a structured questionnaire and analyzed with the help of appropriate statistical tools by using 26 version (SPSS). The findings revealed that majority of the respondents were male having age between 37-47 years with PhD with NET having service experience of 6-10 years belonged to nuclear type of family and had medium family educational status. Knowledge and access regarding MS office and online ICT applications was medium to high among majority of the respondents. Moreover, knowledge and access regarding internet were medium to low while knowledge and access regarding scientific portal/website/tools was found low among respondents.

ICT Education and Determinants of Acceptance Amongst Smallholder Farmers in Mbombela, South Africa

The study was carried out in Mbombela District, Mpumalanga, South Africa. The study aimed to assess selected farmers' acceptance of information and communication technology (ICTs). The study used a quantitative approach. Probability sampling was used as a quantitative approach. Random sampling was used, and 285 samples were sampled from a sampling frame of 380 farmers in the study area. Structured and semi-structured questionnaires were used to elicit necessary information from respondents, while focus group discussions were employed to validate in-depth responses. The binary logistics regression was used to determine significant variables that influence the acceptance of ICT. The results showed that the most accessible ICT tools to farmers were radio, mobile phones, and television. However, contemporary ICT tools such as the internet and flash drives were rarely accessible to the respondents. The study also found that demographic variables such as age (P< 0.000), level of education (P< 0.020), household size (P< 0.053), ICT support (P< 0.014) and extension services ( P< 0.019) were the explanatory variables that affect the acceptance of ICT. Logistics regression results reveal that some variables were significant and positively related to the acceptance of ICT. The paper concludes that the effective application of ICT provides farmers with greater access to information and knowledge, which helps improve their production process.

The Impact of Information and Communication Technologies on Hotel Competitiveness

This study aims to analyze the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) as a competitiveness factor by hotel companies located in Inhambane and Macaneta, Mozambique. This is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. For data collection, a semi-structured interview script was used, which was applied to ten hotel managers from Inhambane and Macaneta (five participants in each case). The data was analyzed using categorical content analysis. The results showed that the interviewees recognize the importance of technology for the hotel's competitiveness, but do not use software, limiting themselves to simpler programs. It was found that Wi-Fi services and the use of social networks are perceived as sources of competitive advantage in the context investigated. The research points to practical contributions that shed light on the need to make resources available for the application of ICT in the hotel sector.

Reducing poverty by digitization: what role do information and communication technologies (ICTs) play in reducing poverty?

PurposeThe objective of this study is to address this central question: “What role do ICTs play in reducing poverty?”Design/methodology/approachFirst, in this study, we defined poverty in terms of its roots within health, economic development and education. Then, we conducted a systematic review of the information and communication technologies (ICTs) literature. From our analysis, we proposed a series of subsidiary questions and in-depth answers about the impact of ICTs on alleviating health-related, economic and educational causes of poverty.FindingsThis study observed positive effects of ICTs on healthcare, economic and educational dynamics and concluded that the development of more advanced infrastructure and greater access to such technology can amplify that impact.Originality/valueThis article explains how applications of ICT across sectors can substantially enhance quality of life and give people an opportunity to take control of their health-related, economic and educational futures. This study uniquely affords an integrative analysis of research and new thought about how to integrate key ICTs for more effective initiatives and investments to reduce poverty.

The Influence of Gender and Training Sector on the ICT Competency of Pre-Service Teachers in Vietnam: Using the UNESCO ICT Competency Framework

Information and communication technology (ICT) is a powerful educational change and reform tool. Teachers are a direct subject in promoting the application of information technology (IT), and the ability to integrate technology into teaching affects the application of IT in teaching. Integrating ICT into education requires teachers to be competent in using ICT. In other words, teachers are required to have sufficient ICT competence to use ICT for education. Faced with this requirement, teacher training schools have made positive changes to improve the ICT capacity of pedagogy students and prepare graduates to perform their duties in the context of digital transformation in education today. This study collected information on pre-service teachers’ competency in using ICT as future teachers in Vietnam. Using the ICT competency framework of UNESCO, the research surveyed 1698 fourth year teaching students (pre-service teachers) from 10 provinces in 3 regions of Vietnam. The results indicate that although pre-service teachers in Vietnam are well educated on ICT policy issues in education, for the issue of ICT exploitation to support curriculum implementation and assessment, they still need ICT skills to support effective teaching and learning methods. In addition, there are significant differences in gender and training specialization in some aspects, such as the application of digital skills and the use of ICT in organization and administration. These results are the basis for in-depth research into establishing influencing factors and measures to improve the ICT application competency of pre-service teachers, contributing to ensuring the quality of education in Vietnam.

The Role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in E-Government: A Literature Review of Sustainable Development Aspects

The development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) makes the world more borderless and communication in various sectors easier. ICT has penetrated individual, organizational, and social barriers. The impact of ICT does not only occur in private companies or organizations but also public organizations. The application of E-Government is a form of ICT application in the public sector. E-Government is a process of using ICT as a new instrument in providing public services more effectively and efficiently. This study aims to provide an overview of the role of ICT in E-Government, which supports aspects of sustainable development in the economic, social, and environmental fields. The method used to collect research data is a literature review and data analysis techniques through a qualitative approach. The results of the study show that E-Government is able to support sustainable development from both economic, social, and environmental aspects.This research recommends that government agencies must continue to innovate, especially by involving ICT and e-government in their public services. It is important because the use of this technology can support sustainability issues in various fields. Then, various studies across sectors are also needed so that comparisons can be developed regarding the challenges that need to be faced in establishing cooperation.

Research Field of Informatization in Special Education: Bibliometric Analysis of International Trends in Recent 15 Years

In the current era of educational informatization, the integration of information and communication technology (ICT) into special education has witnessed significant growth. Utilizing the expansive Scopus database and leveraging the Bibliometrix tool, this study systematically examines 130 scholarly documents within the domain of special education informatization, spanning the years from 2006 to 2021. Complementing a quantitative analysis, the study conducts a qualitative examination of 10 pivotal and widely cited works in the field. The research findings unveil a primary focus on the diverse application of ICT in special education, particularly its effectiveness in the diagnosis and intervention for various categories of special needs. Noteworthy concentrations of research output are identified, with a clear emphasis on publications in prestigious journals such as the International Journal of Emerging Technologies In Learning, Revista Brasileira De Educacao Especial, and Technology & Disability. Furthermore, the examination brings to light the dominance of keywords like "special education" and "information technology" in the literature, underscoring their pivotal role and persistent significance in the discourse. The consistent recurrence of these terms highlights their critical influence in shaping the landscape of special education informatization research. In conclusion, this comprehensive bibliometric analysis provides valuable insights into the trajectory of special education informatization research, elucidating key thematic areas and prominent journals. As the educational landscape continues to evolve, a nuanced understanding of the dynamics of ICT integration in special education becomes imperative for educators, policymakers, and researchers. This study serves as a foundational resource for further exploration and advancement in the ever-evolving field of special education.

The Role of Information and Communication Technology in Interactive Learning

This article is the result of an in-depth literature review on the role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the context of interactive learning. Education has undergone a significant transformation with the adoption of ICT, transforming the traditional way of learning into a more dynamic and participatory learning experience. The purpose of this literature review is to analyse the positive impact of ICT in shaping interactive learning environments, explore the use of multimedia in the learning process, and identify the challenges and opportunities associated with the application of ICT in education. This literature review describes the transformation of learning through ICT, explaining the paradigm shift from conventional approaches to more adaptive and collaborative interactive learning. The results of this literature review illustrate how important the role of ICT is in shaping the future of education that is more interactive, inclusive and relevant to the demands of the times. Through collaboration between educational institutions, government, and the technology industry, as well as a careful pedagogical approach, ICT can be a catalyst to optimise the learning process and empower students to face the complexities of the modern world.

The Use of ICTs in Front Office Department

This research project investigates the effective implementation and impact of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) within the Front Office Department of hotels. The study aims to evaluate the contribution of ICTs to operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and overall performance in customer-facing organisational functions. Utilising a cluster sampling approach, incorporating surveys, and case studies, the research assesses the current usage of ICT tools, identifies challenges and opportunities, and proposes strategies for improved integration. The study explores the diverse ICT applications adopted by front office departments, including customer relationship management (CRM) systems, communication platforms, and data analytics tools. The research assesses the efficacy of these technologies in streamlining processes, enhancing communication, and cultivating a responsive and customer-centric environment. The findings offer valuable insights for both academic researchers and industry practitioners that are seeking a comprehensive understanding of the ways in which ICTs influence front office operations. The research not only highlights successful implementations but also addresses potential hurdles and considerations for hotels aiming to harness ICTs for optimal front office performance. Lastly, the study provides a solid foundation for future research and offers practical recommendations to guide hotels in elevating their front office capabilities through thoughtful ICT integration.

DIGITAL EMPOWERMENT IN EDUCATION: EXPLORING THE DYNAMICS AND SIGNIFICANCE OF ICT – A REVIEW

In the wake of the unprecedented global transformations triggered by the pandemic, various sectors underwent profound changes, with Education being notably affected. This prompted the exploration of novel approaches and refined methodologies to sustain continuous learning without encountering disruptions. Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) emerged as pivotal change agents in the realm of education. Teaching, acknowledged as a profession that shapes individuals' character and destinies, faced challenges in adapting to digital platforms. This study delves into the digital literacy of educators, the hurdles encountered in embracing ICT, and the application of ICT in diverse teaching scenarios. Data for this research were gathered from faculty members across different undergraduate colleges in Bangalore city. ICTs have evolved into potent tools for fostering effective teaching and learning experiences. Notably, the assimilation of ICTs has heightened educators' confidence, transforming lessons into more engaging and interactive experiences for students. Observations suggest that the prudent use of ICT can serve as a catalyst, revolutionizing traditional teaching methods and ushering in an era of blended learning. The inclusion of diverse resources and technologies represents a significant development, benefiting both students and faculty members and ultimately ensuring the delivery of quality education. Operations management of cooperatives’ information and communications technology in Nueva Vizcaya

This study evaluated the impact of information and communications technology (ICT) on the operations management of cooperatives in Nueva Vizcaya. By evaluating the respondents’ profiles and cooperatives’ profiles, and their relationship to ICT infrastructure and ICT access, the researcher would recommend ICT strategies to improve the operations of the cooperatives. The concept of the study was drawn from the modernization theory, and ICT access in terms of skills, literacy, and attitude toward technology. This study used a descriptive design to determine the respondents’ profiles and the cooperatives’ profile. In addition, the descriptive design was also used to determine the level of ICT access of the cooperative personnel and the extent of ICT infrastructure of the cooperatives. Moreover, this study used the correlational research design to determine the significant relationship between the profile of the personnel and the level of ICT access, the profile of the cooperative, and the extent of ICT infrastructure of the cooperatives. To assess the relationships between variables, two correlation coefficients were employed: Pearson’s correlation coefficient and Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient. The study revealed that cooperatives had a “moderate” extent of utilization of ICT infrastructure. Utilization was higher in systems configuration and Internet connectivity compared to organization and management and information technology strategy, while cooperative personnel had the necessary technology skills and literacy to effectively utilize ICT tools and applications in their work. Also, cooperative personnel demonstrated a great extent of positive attitudes toward ICT utilization.
