Influence of Work-Related Factors on Work Ability Among Young Cambodian Migrant Workers in Thailand.

This cross-sectional study was conducted to evaluate the effects of work-related factors on work ability among young Cambodian migrant workers in Thailand. The participants consisted of 258 Cambodian migrant workers working in farms in the northeast region of Thailand. Work-related factors consisted of a general work environment and a psychosocial factor. General work environment was assessed by perception of subjects on biological, chemical, physical, and ergonomic factors. The psychosocial factor was assessed by the Job Content Questionnaire. The Work Ability Index was used to evaluate their work ability. Logistic regression analysis was applied to test the association between work-related factors and work ability. The results indicate that a chemical work environment and psychosocial factor associated with Work Ability Index among young Cambodian migrant workers, after adjusting for sociodemographic factors. These findings suggest that improving the work environment would be the most effective way to increase the work ability of Cambodian migrant workers in Thailand.

Factors Influencing Work Efficiency of the Royal Thai Air Force Air Traffic Controllers

This thesis entitled “Factors Influencing Work Efficiency of The Royal Thai Air Force Air Traffic Controllers” had the objectives of 1) Studying personnel characteristic factors influencing work efficiency of the Royal Thai Air Force Air Traffic Controllers. 2) Studying the influence of work-related factors on work efficiency of the Royal Thai Air Force Air Traffic Controllers. 3) The results shall be used in the Royal Thai Air Force’s human resources planning to developed officers on work efficiency. The sample group in this research was 100 the Royal Thai Air Force Air Traffic Controllers that continuous working in 2016. Questionnaire were used to collect data. Statistics used to analyze data at statistical significant level of 0.05. The results found that most of the respondents were 31-40 years of age with the monthly income of 15,001-20,000 baht, having 6-10 years of working experience and holding current Air Traffic Controller’s Licenses. The total factors towards work efficiency of the Royal Thai Air Force Air Traffic Controllers were most emphasized the areas of personnel performance, working procedure and output products respectively. The work-related factors towards work efficiency of the Royal Thai Air Force Air Traffic Controllers in the area of pride in work were considered most important. The analysis of multiple linear regression found that work-related factors in term of pride in work and job recognition influenced overall work efficiency of the Royal Thai Air Force Air Traffic Controllers. The multiple linear regression coefficient value (R) was 0.56 and in all aspect with 30.40%.

The Need for Improving Quality of Work Life of Workers: Insights from Study of Textile Industries in Rajasthan

Quality of Work Life plays a very significant role in the life of workers. The paper based on the study of the textile industries in Rajasthan, builds the case for improving quality of work life of the workers. The sample size selected for the study is 1200 workers working in the five textile industries in Rajasthan. The researcher collected the data from the respondents through two sets of structured questionnaire. The first questionnaire is to identify the significant gap between the existing and expected Quality of Work Life and the influence of demographic factors on the Quality of Work life and the second questionnaire is to identify the influence of work related factors on Quality of Work Life of workers. This paper is an attempt to investigate the satisfaction level of the workers about their existing and expected Quality of Work Life and to see the impact of work-related factors on Quality of Work Life of workers. The study revealed that there exists a significant gap between the existing and expected Quality of Work Life of workers. The researcher also suggests measures to improve the Quality of Work life of workers working in the textile industries in Rajasthan.

Influence of work-related factors and individual characteristics on work ability among Dutch construction workers

The objective of this study was to evaluate the association of individual characteristics, health problems, lifestyle factors, and work-related factors with work ability among Dutch construction workers. In this cross-sectional survey, the study population consisted of 19 507 Dutch construction workers who had participated in a voluntary periodic medical examination in 2005 and for whom complete information on laboratory tests and spirometry was available. The main outcome of the study was work ability, measured by the work ability index. Independent variables consisted of physical and psychosocial work-related factors, individual characteristics, lifestyle factors, and some objective health indicators. Multiple linear and logistic regression models were used to determine the influence of different factors on work ability. Physical workload and, to a less extent, psychosocial factors at work together explained 22% of the variability in work ability. Age, leisure-time physical activity, lung obstruction, and cardiovascular risk profile explained about 10% of the workers' ability to work, but, when adjusted for work-related risk factors, their effects became very small. Awkward back posture, static work postures, repetitive movements, and lack of support at work had the highest influence on work ability. In the construction industry, work-related risk factors were the most important in association with work ability. This finding suggests that interventions aimed at preventing construction workers from dropping out of the workforce should primarily focus on reducing physical and psychosocial load at work.
