Abstract Based on the magneto-mechanical effect and stress concentration effect, this paper takes the failure of ferromagnetic components caused by stress concentration as the research background, artificially creates stress concentration by prefabricating U-shaped defects, and discusses the Hp(y) signal distribution law of prefabricated U-shaped defect samples and the difference in Hp(y) signal between specimens with different tip SCFs. Results show that the Hp(y) signal has an apparent mutation in the stress concentration area, and when the stress concentration factor was the same, the magnetic field intensity gradient K becomes higher as tensile load increasing. As stress concentration factor increasing, the K value of the stress concentration area also increases gradually. Based on theoretical model of Hp(y) signal, it can be known that the K value can be used to judge the sample stress concentration degree with the results in this study.
