Early Voter Engagement Through Smart Voting Movement RRI Makassar

General elections target novice voters as a flying vote. Novice voters are those who are eligible to participate in general elections for the first time with a minimum age of 17 years. Among them are class XII SMA/MA or new students. In the 2024 General Election, novice voters as a whole dominated the permanent voter list (DPT) with a number reaching around 56.45% of the total voters. However, the level of voter participation has decreased, due to disappointment in the results of previous elections and local elections. Various problems have resulted in a decrease in voter participation, including the tendency of pragmatic political elites who do not want to know about citizens' participation rights. In order to increase public confidence in domestic democracy, a strategy to increase political participation is needed. The development of Indonesian politics must be known to all citizens, in order to understand the correct political choices and in accordance with decisions without tendency and intimidation according to applicable rules. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method, because it explores the phenomenon in depth. The Smart Choosing Movement (GCM) is effective in increasing political awareness among first-time voters. GCM succeeded in raising awareness of the importance of elections, government functions, and rights and responsibilities as citizens. GCM is effective in increasing understanding of the electoral process, from registration to voting. The program is able to increase the motivation of novice voters to be directly involved in elections.

Pengaruh Politik Identitas dalam Kestabilan Ketatanegaraan di Indonesia

Identity politics is a rapidly growing phenomenon in the dynamics of Indonesian politics, where social identities such as religion, ethnicity, and race are used to gain support in elections. This phenomenon has the potential to cause polarization, division, and threats to national unity.This research focuses on analyzing the impact of identity politics on intergroup social relations, as well as how it can threaten national unity and political stability. The research method used is a literature review by analyzing sources such as books, journals, media articles, and regulations related to identity politics. This research also involves interviews with individuals directly involved to understand the impact of identity politics in society. The research results show that excessive identity politics can threaten diversity and exacerbate social tensions. Therefore, it is important to emphasize the values of tolerance and togetherness, and to encourage leaders to focus on vision and ideas rather than group identity.

Indonesian Political Dynamics in National and Regional Elections

The introduction is that illustrates Indonesia as a democracy is facing an exciting new challenge. The democratic party which was originally separated in each region, will now be held simultaneously nationally in 2024. The purpose of this study is first, what are the dynamics of postponing regional head election in 2024 for 271 regions whose terms of office expire in 2022 and 2023 and second, what is the urgency of extending the term of office of the regional head until 2024. The research method used is normative juridical with the approach of legislation and phenomena, theories, concepts and legal principles. The study used is a literature study and analyzed descriptively qualitative with the use of primary data in the form of primary, secondary and tertiary legal materials. related to the extension of the term of office of the regional head until 2024. The results of the analysis obtained on these issues are known that first, the postponement of regional head election from 2022 and 2023 to 2024 will result in a vacancy in the position of regional head in 271 regions. Then, the appointment of acting regional heads who will lead for one to two years to provide uncertainty to democracy in the regions which raises many pros and cons for the policies taken, it is feared that it will harm the principles of regional autonomy. Second, to avoid the filling of acting regional heads in the 271 regions, more effective and democratic steps are needed, so that the acting heads who lead the regions for one to two years are expected not to reap different perceptions in the community. ___ References Books with an author: Amalia, L. The Image of the General Elections Commission (KPU) in the 2024 Presidential Election

Throughout the organization of presidential elections in Indonesia, the General Elections Commission (KPU) has often been in the public spotlight. In this context, the image of the KPU, which consists of trust, reality, cooperation, and awareness, serves as the indicators used by the public to evaluate the institution. This research employs a qualitative methodology and is based on a literature review of previous studies and surveys conducted by several independent organizations. Surveys by Kompas Research and Development (Litbang Kompas) and Databoks support this assessment. The results show that public trust in the KPU has declined due to political dispute issues, with a score of 277. However, according to the Litbang Kompas survey on the reality indicator, the public perceives the KPU's image positively, with a score of 62%. On the cooperation indicator, public political participation in the presidential election continues to increase. Regarding the awareness aspect, the lack of public political knowledge is a critical point in Indonesian politics. Therefore, as the institution responsible for organizing elections, the KPU needs to continuously improve its performance and image.

Do ethnic politics matter? Reassessing the role of ethnicity in local elections in Indonesia

ABSTRACT While recent scholarship has investigated the role of money politics in Indonesia, much less has been said about the part played by sentiments of identity. We argue here that ethnicity and religion remain crucial to an understanding of the processes of local politics and electioneering. We have coined the term ethnicity and religion based organization (ERBO) and used it as a basis for an examination of ethnicity and religion based identity politics in Lampung, the southernmost province of Sumatra. Ethnic identity dovetails largely with religious identity and is a dominant force in the local politics of Lampung, a province that, while multi-ethnic, has a population consisting overwhelmingly of migrants who relocated from the island of Java primarily as a result of the transmigration programme. ERBOs are the vehicle used by local leaders to channel ethnic sentiment and translate it into votes; they are often instrumental in selecting and campaigning for candidates, ensuring voter turnout and arranging rewards. Reflecting ethnic sensitivities, however, some ERBOs refrain from entering the political domain and direct their energies to social and cultural spheres. In presenting this evidence, we seek to qualify recent claims that ethnicity no longer plays an important part in Indonesian politics.

Political and Intercultural Communication in Determining Presidential Candidates in the Indonesian Elections 2024

This study explores the dynamics of political communication in Indonesia, focusing on the 2024 presidential elections. As the country prepares for the presidential election in February 2024, since the general election is a form of post-reformation democratic process implementation that began in 1998, the process of forming political coalitions has become a significant aspect of the political landscape. Utilizing a phenomenological approach, the research examines the interplay between three distinct political cultures—parochial, subject, and participant—and their influence on voter engagement and candidate selection. Through in-depth interviews and participatory observation, the study reveals how political parties can tailor their communication strategies to resonate with diverse voter segments, thereby enhancing electoral participation and fostering a more inclusive democratic process. The findings highlight significant implications for political actors and scholars alike. By recognizing the unique characteristics and needs of each political culture, parties can develop effective coalition-building strategies that bridge cultural divides and mobilize support across Indonesia's heterogeneous electorate. This research not only fills existing gaps in the literature regarding the role of intercultural communication in Indonesian politics but also provides practical recommendations for political parties aiming to improve their engagement with voters. Ultimately, the study underscores the critical importance of adaptive communication strategies in promoting a more informed, engaged, and representative democratic system in Indonesia. Tiktok, Instagram and Presidential Election: A Study to Understand How Politainment in Indonesian Political Campaigns 2024

The development of technology has brought about various transformations in the lines of people's lives, one of which is in political contestation. A political contestation in Indonesia has just passed namely the 2024 General Election. The Indonesian people elected 4 Legislative Members and 1 Pair of Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates in that election. There were three candidate pairs in the 2024 presidential election. Candidate Pair Prabowo-Gibran, Candidate Pair Anies-Muhaimin and Candidate Pair Ganjar-Mahfud. In the campaign process, something was interesting, namely that the discourse battle had shifted to a non-discourse battle. One is politainment, which the candidate pairs presents to the public on social media. Politainment itself refers to the equivalent of the words politics and entertainment. This is interesting because political contestation is very close to the battle of ideas and discourse in the campaign process. However, in the 2024 presidential election, this has shifted. Therefore, this is interesting to examine further. This study uses a qualitative approach to dig deeper into politainment in the 2024 Presidential Election political campaign. The data will be selected using purposive sampling techniques, and then the data that has been obtained will be analyzed using qualitative thematic analysis techniques. This study found that politainment is used by presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs to wrap messages in political campaigns

Communication plays an important role in human life, and in Indonesia, the presidential election is an important event where citizens elect the president and vice president directly. Prabowo Subianto, a well-known figure in the world of Indonesian politics, has received support from various celebrities and content creators. This research aims to look at persuasive communication to convince other people to change their attitudes or behavior regarding an issue. The research method used in this research is qualitative and focuses on critical discourse analysis to reveal the strengths inherent in each linguistic process. The main data source for this research is Prabowo Subianto's Instagram account, which actively posts his activities, including activities with celebrities. influencers, and public figures. One of the artists who is part of TKN Prabowo-Gibran is Raffi Ahmad, Nagita Slavina. There are also other artists involved, such as Verrel Bramasta. The use of celebrities is a strategy to attract attention and get votes from voters. The results of this research, namely persuasive communication, play an important role in presidential elections. Celebrity endorsements can influence people's perceptions and voting behavior. Prabowo Subianto's Instagram account is a rich source of data that reveals the power inherent in every linguistic process, and critical discourse analysis is an effective method for analyzing such discourse. PENGARUH LETAK, LUAS DAN BENTUK TERHADAP PEMERINTAHAN NEGARA SERTA BATAS NEGARA INDONESIA

This research aims to analyze the influence of location, area and form on state government based on the geographical context of Indonesian politics. The analysis was carried out by reviewing papers containing descriptions of the influence of the location, extent and shape of Indonesia in terms of political geography. The discussion begins with the influence of Indonesia's astronomical and geographical location, the size of its territory, islands and seas, as well as the shape of its landmass on state government. The research results show that geographical location, area and shape have positive and negative influences on Indonesian government in various political, economic, social and cultural aspects.

This research was conducted by utilizing Norman Fairclough's concept of critical discourse. In this research, data collection method is done by collecting parts of texts which allegedly contain aspects of texts, discourses, and socio-cultural practices. In Indonesia society, LGBT is viewed as an illness which should not exist. However, there are still some parties who attempt to be a spokesman for LGBT group, for instance on Pinterpolitik Instagram account and Pinterpolitik website. So, this research aims to investigate how Pinterpolitik Online Media presents minority issues, particularly LGBT group, as the part of this media’s alignment towards LGBT equity, especially in the field of human rights and politics. The editor created an ideology through this report that minority inclusion, such as LGBTgroup, is not a key concern in Indonesia's cabinet. Then, the editor also stated that society should now be free of unfavorable attitudes against LGBT persons. When Freedom of Speech and Neofeudalistic Buzzers Collide: A Note for the Politics of Citizenship

The term “buzzer” was initially employed in business marketing to promote a product or service by initiating a broader discourse and increasing popularity and sales. However, the function of buzzers has evolved from business to politics, where they are utilized by politicians for political campaigns and maintaining power. This article endeavors to propose a novel concept for contemporary Indonesian political buzzers. The new concept is introduced with the term “Neofeudalistic Buzzers.” The term “Neofeudalistic” is derived from the characteristics of the actions of political buzzers who attack critics of the government and its officials, which resembles the practice of feudalism in the era of precapitalism. This conceptual article has identified that the use of buzzers in Indonesian politics has become a significant propaganda tool. Furthermore, it has been found that government-supporting buzzers are often involved in intimidating government critics. The actions of government-supporting buzzers can discredit freedom of speech and create fear among people who are critical of the government. Theoretically, neofeudalistic buzzers add a new vocabulary to the politics of citizenship studies. Meanwhile, neofeudalistic buzzers can provide practical insights for policymakers and democracy activists to regulate and supervise the activities of political buzzers.

Authoritarian Nostalgia and Democratic Decline in Contemporary Indonesia

This paper investigates the phenomenon of authoritarian nostalgia in Indonesian politics. Drawing on data from a Populi Center public opinion survey, we explore the characteristics, patterns and workings of authoritarian nostalgia. On the one hand, we find authoritarian nostalgia prevalent in the survey data and also anecdotally. Many in the public remember the New Order era fondly and have positive impressions of President Soeharto despite 32 years of military authoritarian rule. At the same time, we find that much of the nostalgia revolves around economic issues. Furthermore, our study shows that key age cohorts who lived during the New Order period have the most support for the authoritarian era. This paper also contributes to our understanding on how Indonesian people perceive and behave to their current Indonesian political development.

The Feminisation of Indonesia's Political Parties: Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan) and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS)

The political representation of women in the Indonesian parliament has increased since the implementation of the affirmation policy through quotas, although the number has not yet reached 30%. In addition, the percentage of women placed in the management structure of political parties has also increased. In addition, the percentage of women's candidacy in each election period also showed an increasing trend. This article aims to analyze the feminization process that occurred in PDI Perjuangan and PKS, using the model of feminization of political parties introduced by Sarah Childs. By using a qualitative approach, in which data were obtained from party statues (AD/ART documents of political parties) and parties' documents of meetings, General Elections Commission (KPU) data, and data sourced from online media, it was found that the level feminization of PDI Perjuangan higher than PKS. The difference in the level of feminization is due to differences in representational dimension and policy.

Heuristic political behavior in the 2024 presidential general election: Fandom humanies case study

The K-Popers phenomenon in the elections in Indonesia in 2024 is the first record in the history of election contestation because it contains a combination of South Korean Pop culture and Indonesian Politics. K-Pop fans have the characteristics of a strong social group so that when they enter politics they join the Humanies fandom and form a social group that supports Anies Baswedan as a candidate for President of Indonesia in 2024-2029. This research aims to describe the representation of heuristic political behavior from the Humanies fandom in the 2024 elections. This research uses qualitative research methods with a literature study approach. So the data source in this research comes from secondary data. The research results show that the representation of heuristic political behavior from the Humanies fandom is in the form of creating a social media account K-Pop terms in updates on Anies' activities, right up to making fan merch (photocards, light sticks, glasses, etc.). The political behavior carried out by individuals in the Humanies fandom is based on the styles of K-Popers present in politics which have inadvertently been formed by Anies. This K-Popers style ultimately makes individuals in the Humanies fandom more expressive in politics.

This article explores Adam Malik's contributions to Indonesia's political development during the early independence period, highlighting his role in international diplomacy, national political movements, and efforts to defend Indonesia's independence from internal and external threats. This research employs a historical approach, examining various primary and secondary sources to provide a comprehensive picture of Adam Malik's influence on Indonesian politics.

THE HEGEMONY OF NADHLATUL ULAMA ON POLITICAL DYNAMICS IN INDONESIA

This study discusses the hegemony of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) in Indonesian political dynamics by using a descriptive qualitative approach through the library research method using a sharia normative approach. Nadhalatul Ulama has strong historical roots, having a significant influence on Indonesian politics. The broad support of the community, especially Nahdliyin, allowed him to influence political policy at both the local and national levels. Through participation in the policy-making process such as the Islamic Boarding School Bill, NU brings agendas that are relevant to the interests of the community, especially in the fields of religion and education. In addition, NU plays a role in socializing democratic values through Islamic boarding schools, reflecting its contribution to strengthening the foundation of democracy at the local level. NU also acts as a counterweight in government oversight, ensuring policies are in line with people's aspirationsThe implications of this research include a better understanding of Indonesia's political dynamics and the importance of considering the role of non-state actors such as NU in the political process. It is recommended that in-depth research be conducted to broaden insights into the role of NU in Indonesian politics and society

Phenomenology of Ulama and Indonesian Politics

The purpose of this study is to analyze the phenomenon of scholars and politics in Indonesia. The type of data used in this study is qualitative data, which is categorized into two types, namely primary data and secondary data. This research obtained the results that ulama become people who are in the community but are higher in position than leaders. This important position is because the advice, advice and input of scholars' will always be needed by the leader. This is due to the dynamics of Islamic politics, one of which is the transformation carried out by NU youths who were originally pesantren-based into academics and active on campus, The political movement within NU did initially seem reactive which was influenced by the existence of socio-pyolytic conditions on the one hand and external factors that led to the birth of the change process itself.

Shadows of political corruption amidst the trend of declining democracy in Indonesia: Learning from the dynamics of 2024 Presidential Election

This conceptual article is based on primary and secondary data from various sources discussing the dynamics of Indonesian politics and democracy through the 2024 General Election. This article aims to identify various alleged political corruption practices as well as to evaluate the development of the quality of Indonesian democracy implied by the 2024 political process. Although allegations of political corruption are believed to be common among many groups, proving them legally and politically is not easy to do. This leaves a number of notes, especially regarding the nature of power and the trend of weakening the quality of democracy in the country. The 2024 General Election provided some valuable lessons that the aspects of neutrality and independence of state power should be of common concern to reorganize and increase the quality of the future Indonesian democracy.
