INDONESIAN NURSES CULTURAL COMPETENCE: THE DEVELOPMENT AND PILOT TESTING OF INSTRUMENT

Introduction: This paper outlines the development and validation of the Indonesian Nurse's Cultural Competency Scale (IPNCCS) in response to the absence of such instrument for Indonesian nurses. Purpose: The aim was to create an instrument that accurately measures cultural competence among Indonesian nurses. Methods: The study followed a methodological approach in two phases, beginning with item generation through literature review, expert evaluation, and pilot testing with a sample of 50 Indonesian nurses. Result: Through item analysis, the scale's construct validity and reliability were established. The final scale comprises 46 items across five dimensions, showing strong internal consistency reliability (overall Cronbach’s alpha of .942, dimension Cronbach’s alpha ranging from .792 to .918), content validity, and construct validity. In conclusion, the INCCS offers a reliable and valid tool for assessing professional nurse competencies within diverse clinical settings in Indonesia. 5 Finger Hypnotic Intervention Can Reduce The Stress Of NursesProfessional Students That Will Take The Exam

The average Indonesian Nurse Competency Examination (UKNI) graduation at one of the private universities in Pekanbaru City is still around 80-95%, while UKNI graduation is a graduation requirement for professional student education. Students expressed anxiety in facing UKNI coupled with the experience of many seniors who participated in UKNI more than 2 times (re-takers). The purpose of this community service activity was to overcome the anxiety of professional nurse students in preparation for facing UKNI. This community service activity uses a consultation and counseling approach to the Nurse’s students, totaling 32 people. The intervention carried out was 5-finger hypnosis and psychological consultation with UKNI for 5 working days. Anxiety score assessment using the DASS instrument. The results of this activity obtained a decrease in the anxiety level of nursing profession students by 13.06. This shows that the 5-finger relaxation intervention can be used as an alternative to overcome the anxiety of nursing profession students facing UKNI. It is hoped that nursing education institutions will be able to make a 5-finger hypnosis intervention as a form of consultation to overcome the anxiety of nursing professional students facing UKNI.

The journey of Indonesian nurse migration: a scoping review

The migration of nurses from Indonesia to other foreign countries is an inevitable part of the global mobility of the nurse profession. This phenomenon requires investigation to understand the current trajectories of Indonesian nurses in the global market. This scoping review aimed to investigate the Indonesian nurses' mobility to the international healthcare market. A scoping review of primary research addressing Indonesian nurses migration journey overseas. A range of databases were searched, including Scopus, Web of Science Clarivate Analytics, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), and PubMed. A systematic process was performed guided by the work of Arksey and O'Malley. Four databases were searched, and 68 articles were retrieved. After screening articles and abstracts, 19 full texts were assessed for eligibility, and finally, 17 studies were further analyzed and synthesized. Eleven qualitative studies, five quantitative study and one literature review study met inclusion criteria, emphasizing the three phases of migration: pre-migration, migration and post-migration. The destination countries of Indonesian nurses including Japan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Taiwan. At the pre-migration stage there are several aspects that must be considered, there were: language, understanding of the job position, reason to work and comprehensive understanding of the destination countries. Migration stage include issues language, deskilling, mental health, unclear career path, cultural adaptation, lack of religious services and homesickness. At the post-migration stage includes deskilling, brain waste and re-integration with brain circulation platform. The comprehensive approach of Indonesian nurses migration from pre-migration, migration and post-migration has shown us the trajectory of Indonesian nurses in international migration. Understanding the bottle neck of each stage with improve policy support is needed to create safe and sound migration channel for Indonesian nurses. This review highlighted to the need for future research in key areas such as the impact of nurse migration on Indonesia's health systems.

The workload of Indonesian nurses working in Saudi Arabia after COVID-19 pandemic: A phenomenological study

Studies showed the significant impact on nurses' clinical experience and how they face work challenges during COVID-19. This study explores Indonesian nurses' working experiences in Saudi Arabia during the post-COVID-19 pandemic. A qualitative design with a phenomenological approach was used in this study. The inclusion criteria were 10 Indonesian nurses working in the COVID-19 ward, registered nurses at the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS), and able to participate in this research, while the exclusion criteria were out of those criteria. A semi-structured interview was used in a suitable setting, and the data transcription followed seven steps of Colaizzi's analysis. Three themes were identified: burnout, support system, and job satisfaction. These themes reflect the workload of Indonesian nurses who work in the government hospital in Saudi Arabia. All participants were exhausted in the post-COVID-19 pandemic. The researcher recommended the need for comprehensive support by the government and suggested established policies that reduce the psychological problem of non-Saudi nurses in post-pandemic COVID-19.

Intention to Stay or Return? Motivation and Factors Influencing Indonesian Nurses Working in Japan

In 2008, Japan agreed to recruit Indonesian nurses to work as nurses as a part of the Indonesia-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (IJEPA). This study aimed to explore the motivation behind working in Japan and factors behind the Indonesian nurses' intention to stay in Japan or return to Indonesia after the contract is terminated. This descriptive quantitative study used an online survey involving 103 respondents. Results revealed that a high rate of remuneration and better working environment were the pull factors whereas low salarie, and poor working conditions in Indonesia were the major reasons why Indonesian nurses wanted to work in Japan. Of the 103 respondents, 71 % stated that they intended to remain in Japan, whereas 29 % preferred to return to Indonesia after the contract is terminated. The research only focused on one framework of Indonesian migrant workers (nurse). At the end, hopefully this research can be a comprehensive discussion of Indonesian nurse workers and enrich the study of international migration.

Description Of The Caring Behavior Of Indonesian Nurses At Tokubetsu Original Yougoroujin Home Ayumien Tokyo 2022

Caring behavior of nurses is our attitude and behavior to treat others we serve lovingly. Caring behavior is our attitude of concern for patients through empathy for patients and families. This study aims to find out an overview of the caring behavior of Indonesian nurses at Tokubetsu Yougoroujin Home Ayumien Tokyo Orphanage 2022. This study uses a total sampling technique, namely the number of respondents at the Tokubetsu Yougoroujin Home Ayumien Tokyo Orphanage are 48 respondents. The research instrument used a questionnaire of caring behaviors indonesian nurse tools. Based on demographic data, the results show that the male sex are 28 respondents (58.3%). Aged 75-90 years as many as 44 respondents (87.4%). Last High School Education are 33 respondents (68.8%). And the caring behavior of Indonesian nurses at the Tokubetsu Yougoroujin Home Ayumien Tokyo Home from 48 respondents was very good as many as 29 respondents (60.4%). Therefore, the caring behavior of nurses needs to be improved for the needs of patients

Comparison Of The Image Of The Caring Behavior Of Indonesian Nurses At The Tokubetsu Original Yougoroujin Home Ayumien Tokyo With The Caring Behavior Of Nurses At The Elderly Wisma Marry Home Berastagi 2022

Caring behavior is an action related to the patient's well-being such as sensitivity, comfort, attentive listening, honesty and non-judgmental acceptance. This study was conducted because the researcher wanted to know more about the comparison of the caring behavior of Indonesian nurses at the Tokubetsu Yougoroujin Home Ayumien Tokyo with the caring behavior of the nurses at the Marry Home Berastagi Elderly House 2022. This study aims to analyze the comparison of the caring behavior of Indonesian nurses at Tokubetsu Home. Yougoroujin Home Ayumien Tokyo with caring behavior of nurses at Wisma Marry Home Berastagi 2022. This study used a comparative research method with technique total sampling, the number of respondents at the Tokubetsu Yougoroujin Home Ayumien Home in Tokyo amounted to 48 respondents and at Wisma Marry Home. Berastagi totaled 49 respondents. The research instrument uses that the caring behaviors Indonesian nurse tools questionnaire. The results show that the caring behavior of Indonesian nurses at Panti Tokubetsu Yougoroujin Home Ayumien Tokyo from 48 respondents both 19 respondents (39.6%) and very good as many as 29 respondents (60.4%) and the caring behavior of nurses at Wisma Lansia Marry Home Berastagi from 49 respondents is very good. as many as 49 respondents (100%). Comparison of the caring behavior of Indonesian nurses at Panti Tokubetsu Yougoroujin Home Ayumien Tokyo with caring behavior of nurses at Wisma Lansia Marry Home Berastagi using the independent sample t-test test show p = 000 (<0.05). Therefore, the caring behavior of nurses needs to be improved and maintained to meet patient needs.

The course of broken dreams: The expectations and realities of the life of Indonesian nurses as care workers in Japan

<h2>ABSTRACT</h2><h3>Background</h3> Despite the contribution of international nurses to the health care services at a destination country, migrant nurses are not always employed based on their competency. Sending nurses to work as care workers in Japan might contradict the international migration of Indonesian health workforce policy which promotes the brain cirulation. Examining the life and work experiences of Indonesian nurses in Japan provides insight into stages of the migratory journey on a receiving country. <h3>Purpose</h3> The aim of this study was to describe the narratives and experiences of Indonesian nurse migrants who worked as care workers in Japanese long-term care facilities. <h3>Methods</h3> A qualitative descriptive method was employed and a purposive sample of 18 Indonesian nurses participated in this study. Semi-structured interviews were conducted among those participants who worked in long-term care facilities across four prefectures in Japan. Data were analysed using content analysis, supported by QSR NVIVO 10 software. <h3>Results</h3> Three key themes emerged from the data analysis: (i) broken dreams; (ii) surviving the struggle; and (iii) supportive environment. These three themes include the unmet expectations of the participants, their experiences as foreign care workers, and the support they received from their work environment. <h3>Conclusion</h3> Indonesian nurses in this study who migrated and worked in Japan's long-term care facilities as care workers were left disillusioned due to unmet expectations but able to cope with the challenges with supports from the institution and people at their workplace. International care workers with nursing educational backgrounds should be provided with opportunities to develop their professional careers.

Remote Learning for Nursing Education in Indonesia during The Covid-19 Pandemic: Efforts and Recommendations

The COVID-19 pandemic had an impact on nursing students’ academic and clinical performance. Nursing institutions have provided remote learning to continue the learning process. However, students have met several obstacles that caused a decrease in the quality of learning. Remote learning for education requires the support of information and communication technology. However, studies related to how the COVID-19 pandemic affected nursing education in Indonesia are still rarely done. Accordingly, this study was conducted to evaluate the implementation of remote learning for nursing education during the COVID-19 pandemic. A cross-sectional study was conducted with 331 members of the Association of Indonesian Nurse Education Center (AINEC). The instrument used was the Guidelines of Filling Out Remote Learning. The results showed that 51% of the study programs implemented remote learning, while 69% of the regulations for remote learning were created by rectors. The most common teaching materials were visual, text, and audio-visual content. These materials were distributed through WhatsApp Group, Learning Management System (LMS), and video conference. To support the process of remote learning, nursing institutions need to improve information technology staff and cooperate agreement with other institutions. Overall, the remote learning process needs to be further improved to increase the students’ learning quality.

The Influence of Lecturer Service Quality, Family Support, Facilities and Infrastructure Availability, and Student Learning Motivation on Indonesian Nurse Competency Test Results

The research analyzing the competency test for nurses is of particular concern for nursing education because incompetent nursing professions could not be registered as nurses in Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of lecturer service quality, family support, availability of learning facilities and infrastructure, and student learning motivation on the results of the Indonesian Nurses Competency Test (INCT). The research method used is quantitative research design with the Simple Random Sampling technique. The research sample was 100 respondents from the nursing profession graduates. Data collection by questionnaire, descriptive data analysis percentage, and regression test. The results of the study showed that there was an effect of the quality of lecturer services on the results of INCT (0.024), family support on the results of INCT (0.032), the availability of learning facilities and infrastructure on the results of INCT (0.015) and learning motivation on the results of INCT (0.030). Simultaneously, there is an effect of the quality of lecturer services, family support, availability of learning facilities and infrastructure, and learning motivation on the results of INCT (0.000), adjusted R¬Square test with a percentage of 77.1% of the variables of INCT results can be explained by the four variables. These results can be used as evaluations and policies for interested parties in improving the achievement of INCT graduation results, which are also a benchmark for implementing and quality assurance in higher education.

Unmoderated Remote Usability Testing: An Approach during Covid-19 Pandemic

Online Nurse Test for Indonesian Nurse Competency (ONT UKNI) is a mobile application that was developed to help increase the success rate of nurse competency test participants. By using this application, users can learn more about the materials tested and conduct try out as a competency test simulation. However, ONT UKNI has not yet passed adequate testing stages, especially in terms of User Interface/User Experience (UI/UX). The Covid-19 pandemic situation presents challenges in the UI/UX testing process. Testing process which is ideally carried out face-to-face with respondents to get further insight, have to be carried out using another approach following the new normal protocol. This study aims to test the usability of UI/UX with an unmoderated remote testing approach on ONT UKNI application using a USE questionnaire. The test was performed using 26 respondents and all were nursing profession students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. Respondents performed 8 tasks on ONT UKNI and answered set of questionnaire that will be tabulated and analyzed. The results indicate that usefulness, ease of learning, and satisfaction variables get the Very Good category while the ease of use variable gets the Good category. Overall, usability testing using an unmoderated remote testing approach can be carried out and able to provide information about areas where users are satisfied with ONT UKNI application. However, some areas still have room for improvement such as better UI design and implementation of gamification.

Going Global: Insights of Indonesian Policymakers on International Migration of Nurses.

BackgroundThe Indonesian policymakers need to respond to the current challenges, particularly the excess of nurses and the increased demand for nurses in the global market.ObjectiveThis study aimed to present the perception of policymakers and stakeholders on the management of overseas migration of Indonesian nurses.MethodsThis study is a descriptive qualitative design where data were collected through structured interviews with key stakeholders representing the Indonesian government, namely the Ministry of Health (MOH), the Ministry of Labour (MOL), Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI). The in-depth interviews involved participants who were responsible for managing Indonesian nurses’ migration. The qualitative data were analyzed thematically using a content analysis approach.ResultsThe issues involving nurses’ migration policy are quite complex and sectoral. Themes emerging from this study include the move towards global market orientation, addressing challenges on international nurse migration, strengthening coordination among stakeholders and making the most of opportunities. All the themes reflect that the country should work hard to achieve the balance between quantity and quality of nursing resources for the international market.ConclusionAs regulator and executor of Indonesian nurse migration, various government policies have responded to the low number of Indonesian nurses’ migration overseas, emphasizing the three cycles of migration: pre-migration, migration and post-migration. The preparation of resources, regulations and placements for Indonesian nurses abroad open the opportunity to the international nursing labour market. Hence, the policies need to be strengthened from upstream to downstream to make Indonesian nurses more competitive and adaptive in global market.

Background The Indonesian Nurse Competency Examination (INCE) has been designed as a legally defensible, psychometrically sound examination to measure readiness for entry to practice in Indonesia. Purpose This study aimed to explore the predictor factors associated with the nurses passing the INCE. Methods In this cross-sectional study, 727 participants (estimated sample size was 720) were secured using consecutive sampling. The survey instrument, which collected participant demographics and characteristics of institutions, was developed by the research team and underwent testing for validity and reliability. Results INCE pass rate was associated with age (p = .00), grade point average (p = .00), examination status (p = .00), region of the university (p = .00), completion of a standard internship program (p = .001), knowledge about the INCE blueprint (p = .001), preparation for the examination from the institution (p = .011), and taking the national predictor examination (p = .002). The most predictive factor for passing the INCE was the completion of a standard internship program (p = .029; OR = 3.204). Conclusion Completion of a standard internship program was the main factor that predicted whether a participant passed the INCE. Thus, nursing universities need to provide internship programs based on the national standard. Additional research is needed related to other factors that were associated with passing the INCE. The emergence of the nursing higher education system in Indonesia is expected to produce graduates who have the attitudes, knowledge and professional skills of nursing so that they are able to carry out their role in providing nursing services. The Indonesian government has implemented a higher education quality assurance system in the health sector, including a competency test. Competency test is a person's ability that can be observed which includes knowledge, skills and attitudes in completing a job or task with a set performance performance standard. According to data from the Association of Indonesian Nurse Education Institutions (AIPNI), the average UKOM Nurse graduation in October 2018 only reached 35.3%. Data from the Sari Mutiara Indonesia University, the pass rate for the 2018 Nurse Competency Test actually increased by 82%. Based on these data, it is necessary to identify student preparation in facing competency tests. The purpose of this study was to identify the strategies of the Nurse Profession students in facing the Nurse Competency Test. This type of research is descriptive research. The population in this study were students of the Nurse Profession at Sari Mutiara Indonesia University. The sample in this study were 72 people using the total population technique. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire that was created and tested by the researchers themselves. The validity test was carried out in different places, the results of validity and reliability were tested with the correlation between Pearson Product Moment and Cronbach's alpha, with a Cronbach Alpha value greater than 0.721. The data analysis used was univariate analysis. The results showed that the majority of students had a reference, namely (88.9%), the majority of students understood the blueprint of the questions well, which was (77.8%), all students (100%) attended intensive tutoring at campus and online tutoring, students (100%) participate in local and national tryouts. Nurse education institutions have a big responsibility in supporting the graduation of students from UKOM. So that the institution is expected to provide guidance to students in order to increase the graduation rate of UKOM and improve the quality of graduates.

Efektivitas preceptorship terhadap kinerja klinik mahasiswa: Literature review

Nowadays, the demands for health services are increasing, health problems are increasingly complex, the development of science and nursing technology is increasingly sophisticated, and the requirements of the workforce are increasingly demanding nursing staff to be competent. Therefore, nursing education institutions are required to be able to prepare graduates who are competent and able to compete both nationally and internationally. In education field, one of efforts of the Association of Indonesian Nurse Education Center (AINEC) to developing competent Ners graduates is by applying a preceptorship guidance model. But there are still a few articles that discuss the method of guidance in the preceptorship that can be used by preceptors to improve the clinical performance of student. The aim of this literature review is to identify the method of guidance in the preceptorship that can be used by preseptors to improve the clinical performance of student. This literature review examines the methods in the preceptorship that are used to improve student clinical competencies (decision-making abilities, communication skills, practical skills, and social skills). The article search was carried out on databases Pubmed and Google Scholar, using keywords preceptorship, nursing students, clinical learning, clinical performance, decision making abilities, communication skills, practice skills. The number of articles reviewed was 15 articles. In preceptorship, to improved the student ability of decisions making can by using case discussion methods, bed side teaching, nursing rounds, and pre and post conference. Communication skills can be improved by case discussions, rounds, bed side teaching, role modeling, and pre and post conferences. Student practice skills can be improved by the method of bedside teaching and demonstration. And social skills can be improved by role modeling. Based on this literature review, it can be concluded that the guidance methods used in the preceptroship are useful for improving the competency of student clinics. Therefore, it is important for the preseptor to know what methods can be used in guiding according to the competencies that are to be improved on students.

Factors Affecting Indonesian Nurse Behavior in Applying Universal Precaution

Professional nurses in carrying out their roles and functions on a daily basis, are always at risk of contacting various diseases. Transmission of the disease can occur via direct or indirect contact, transmission can be through droplet transmission, and airborne transmission (CDC). Universal precautions are one of the strategies that have been recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in efforts to control infection and disease transmission in health facilities, such as hospitals, doctors' practices, and other health care centers. The purpose of the study was to determine the factors that influence the behavior of Indonesian nurses in implementing universal precaution in the Center for Health Services in Qatar. The research process was carried out in October 2011 in Qatar with a total sampling method, a total sample of 52 respondents. The results showed that most Indonesian nurses in Qatar with a Diploma in Nursing, had work experience of more than 6 years. Placed in various locations such as; ambulance services, company clinics and hospitals. There was no significant relationship between knowledge and nurses behavior in applying Universal Precaution (p &lt;0.05). There was no significant relationship between attitude and behavior of Indonesian nurses in implementing Universal Precaution (p &lt;0.05). There was no significant relationship between motivation and the behavior of Indonesian nurses in implementing Universal Precaution (p &lt;0.05). There was a significant relationship (p &lt;0.05) between the means and the behavior of Indonesian nurses in implementing Universal Precaution. Based on these results it is necessary to maintain the consistency of nurses to always apply universal precaution appropriately according to the patient's condition at hand

Nurses’ Perceptions of Spirituality and Spiritual Care and The Challenges of Learning Spirituality

&lt;p&gt;Background. Nurses face barriers both from the environment and from themselves in providing spiritual care. Their perception to the spirituality as well as the spiritual care may contribute into this situation. Aim. This study was to identify the Indonesian nurse’s perception of spirituality and spiritual care. Methods. A cross-sectional survey investigated 273 nurses in Central Java, Indonesia recruited through a convenience sampling. The Spirituality Spiritual Care Rating Scale (SSCRS) Bahasa Indonesia version was applied to measure the nurses’ perceptions. Six other questions related to nurses’ prior knowledge, responsibilities and work experiences were added. To examine the differences in the nurse’s perception of Spirituality (SP) and Spiritual Care (SC), independent t-test and One-Way ANOVA were applied. Findings. Obtained score means were Spirituality 20.0 (2.0), Spiritual Care 46.2 (4.3), and total SSCRS 66.1 (4.5). There was the significant different perception of spirituality and spiritual care as a total, and in subscale of spirituality based on the geographic location (p=0.006). Respondents felt well informed (52.2%), got training (4.8%), capable of delivering spiritual care (70%), mostly considered the patient spiritual need through listening and observing patients by themselves (67.9%). Conclusion. Nurse perception of spirituality and spiritual care were not different based on respondent characteristics, except the respondents’ work geographical area. Challenges in teaching spirituality were confirmed. This study provided basic information in describing Indonesian nurses’ perception on spirituality and spiritual care.&lt;/p&gt;

E-Learning Media for Retakers in Achieving Level of Graduation Competence Nurse Indonesia Test in South Borneo

Introduction: At present the number of students who do not pass the Indonesian Nurse Competency Test (UKNI) or as a retaker is very high. Various types of programs have been carried out but the level of graduation achievement for retakers has not achieved maximum results. This is because retakers are far from the reach of Educational Institutions, so that in the process of coaching such as tutoring becomes less intensive. Therefore, currently there is a need for distance learning media such as the E-learning method for retakers. Methods: this research used the Pre Experimental Design with One Group Pretest -posttest, with 59 samples of retakers in South Kalimantan. Data collection uses observation techniques with analysis using the Wilcoxon Test. Results: of the Wilcoxon test showed a significance value = 0,000 (&lt;0.005), indicating that there were differences in the results of the Graduation Rate on the pretest and posttest results before and after tutoring using a smartphone-based e-Learning method. The average results of the Indonesian Nurse Competency Test followed by the retakers who were respondents in the July 2018 period were declared competent there were 16 retakers (27.1%). Conclusions: the distance learning with E-learning method that utilizes smartphone applications is very effective to be used to increase the graduation rate of retakers in UKNI. This effectiveness is also supported by the maximum interaction between educators and retakers, between retakers and various educational facilities.
