Exploring the impact of time allocation on students’ writing performance: A quantitative study

Many educational institutions have been conducting writing assessments to measure students’ ability in writing, yet little is known about whether time restriction and learning strategies are contributing factors to students’ performance. In Indonesian educational institutions, writing assessments serve as a means to measure students’ proficiency in articulating thoughts in the target language, providing teachers with insights into their linguistic ability. The objective of this study is to determine whether allocating extra time for timed academic essays will substantially enhance the quality of students' writing. Additionally, this study seeks to uncover the correlation between students' L2 learning strategies and their writing performance. This study used a quantitative design. The main instruments were questionnaires and writing tests collected at two parallel classes of a private university in Indonesia, comprising of 50 students in total as the study participants. The quantitative methods used independent t-tests and Spearman’s rho correlation to analyze the data. The result showed that time limit had a significant effect on writing performance (t(34.6)= 3.185, p= .003). Another result indicated minimal to no correlation between writing scores and autonomous learning practices. In conclusion, this study offers valuable and practical implications in the writing assessment industry that there should be a re-evaluation in the administration of writing assessment in educational institutions in Indonesia that truly reflects students’ writing ability.

THE EFFECT OF ISLAMIC WORK ETHICS ON ENTREPRENEURIAL INTENTION AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE

Purpose: Having identified a gap in the literature, this study aimed to determine the role of Islamic Work Ethics (IWE) in creating high Academic Performance (APE) and Entrepreneurial Intention (ENI) among Indonesian undergraduate students.
 
 Theoretical framework: The motivation for entrepreneurship is a popular topic investigated in many studies. Previous studies showed that entrepreneurial activities are strongly connected to individuals' values. In this situation, Muslims should be inspired to become entrepreneurs because the Qur’an and Hadith discuss entrepreneurship. However, Islamic Work Ethics (IWE) has received less attention from scholars about its role in developing the Entrepreneurial Intention (ENI) of students as potential entrepreneurs.
 
 Design/ methodology/approach: This is a qualitative study that used structural equation modelling (SEM) to process data from 150 samples of Indonesian undergraduate students
 Findings: This study discovered that IWE played a significant role in driving all TPB factors, including ATB, SUN, and PCB, to promote ENI. which means IWE would encourage Muslims to embrace entrepreneurship as a means of sustaining Islamic teaching.
 
 Research, Practical & Social Implications: This study may serve as the foundation for Indonesian educational institutions to incorporate IWE into their curriculum. It is because the religious values as inherent in IWE will foster a positive attitude and spirit of achievement.

Problematika Manajemen Pondok Pesantren

Islamic boarding schools are Islamic educational institutions that are full of learning about religious knowledge, such as classical books and other Shari'ah books. Islamic boarding schools are typical Indonesian educational institutions that grow amidst communities that have proven their independence. Pesantren has a meaning that continues to change along with its development over time. Islamic boarding schools can be defined as educational institutions as well as Islamic religious broadcasting institutions. In this case, the researcher discusses the problems found in Islamic boarding schools, including in the management system. The systematics of writing this paper uses the Library Research or Literature Review method, which has a research focus on books, journals and magazines related to the studies raised in the paper. There are various kinds of management problems in Islamic boarding schools, ranging from facilities, spatial planning, learning to the quality of teacher human resources. This research contributes to managerial learning literacy in Islamic boarding schools so that it can become a reference and reference.

Analysis of needs for development of the internet of things virtual laboratory

Industrial Era 4.0 and Society Era 5.0 are eras in which educational institutions are required to prepare graduates who are ready to enter a more competitive world of work, but the facilities and infrastructure for practicum learning in Indonesian educational institutions are not optimal, including virtual practicum facilities, as can be seen from the availability of virtual laboratories, which is still minimal, especially in higher education institutions compared to educational institutions abroad. A survey on the implementation of practicum learning in the pandemic era at Halu Oleo University showed that 37% of the practicum was implemented and 63% of the practicum was not implemented because there were no supporting facilities for virtual practicum learning during the pandemic. This study aims to analyze the students’ needs for the implementation of the internet of things (IoT) virtual laboratory at Halu Oleo University. The analysis instruments include (1) IoT laboratory facilities; (2) IoT courses; and (3) learning processes and practica in IoT courses. This type of research is quantitative research with descriptive statistical analysis techniques. The results showed that 80.58% of the students strongly agreed with development of the IoT virtual laboratory as a means to support practical learning at Halu Oleo University.

Student Pantomime Techniques in Learning Arabic Vocabulary

Arabic is one of the foreign languages taught in various Indonesian educational institutions, starting from the Early Childhood Education level to tertiary institutions. The position of Arabic as the language of religion, science and language of international communication makes Arabic an important language to learn. Learning vocabulary (mufradat) is a person's initial foundation in learning Arabic. Good vocabulary mastery will form good Arabic language skills as well. There are various kinds of learning techniques used for learning objectives, one of which is the pantomime technique. This paper aims to describe pantomime techniques in learning Arabic vocabulary and to explain the influence of pantomime techniques in learning Arabic vocabulary. The method used in this research is library research through documentation techniques. From the results of the analysis of the literature review, the pantomime technique in learning Arabic vocabulary involves educators or students describing the meaning of vocabulary through body movements which must then be guessed by other students. The effect of mime technique assistance in learning Arabic vocabulary is that it can increase student learning motivation, increase student understanding and vocabulary mastery, and improve students' ability to speak Arabic.

Internalisasi Pendidikan Karakter Dalam Mewujudkan Profil Pelajar Pancasila Di SMAN 11 Semarang

Character education is an important aspect of Indonesian education that is being pursued by the Ministry of Education and Culture. Through the policy of strengthening the dimension of the Pancasila student profile that must be proclaimed in Indonesian educational institutions, it is considered to have an urgency towards the formation of the character of the next generation in accordance with national values and ready to face globalization in the 21st century era. This study aims to find out how the internalization of character education affects the profile of Pancasila students through the habituation process in SMA Negeri 11 Semarang. This study was conducted using a qualitative approach using the case study method. Research Data were collected through observation techniques, interviews, and documentation studies supported by relevant literature reviews. The results showed that SMA Negeri 11 Semarang has succeeded in internalizing character education to students through the practice of intracurricular, cocurricular, and extracurricular activities in which efforts are made to inhabit the sub-elements.

Information Technology Risk Management in Educational Institutions Using ISO 31000 Framework

As information technology becomes increasingly integrated into daily business processes within educational institutions in Indonesia, the need to address potential risks associated with this integration has become crucial. This research focuses on analyzing information technology risk management in Indonesian educational institutions using the ISO 31000 framework. The study aims to minimize the occurrence and impact of various information technology risks that can disrupt organizational processes. Through a comprehensive examination encompassing risk assessment, analysis, evaluation, and treatment, this research provides valuable insights into identifying potential risks within educational institutions. Furthermore, the findings serve as a reference for formulating risk management policies, enabling institutions to proactively mitigate the possibility of information technology risks and their future impact. By adopting the ISO 31000 framework, educational institutions can enhance their efficiency, effectiveness, and accessibility while safeguarding against potential disruptions.

Tafsīr Al-Aḥkām's Analysis of Demoralization in Cases of Sexual Harassment in Educational Institutions in Indonesia

Sexual harassment is a violation of Islamic law and is inconsistent with the values of all religions and moral norms. The rise of sexual violence in educational institutions is concerning. This study aims to analyze and evaluate the demoralization that occurs in Indonesian educational institutions after the emergence of sexual harassment committed by caregivers or staff. Using a descriptive qualitative method analyzed through the tafsīr al-aḥkām approach, data was collected through interviews and literature studies. The findings indicate that sexual harassment in educational institutions is often done through coercion, using dogmatic methods or luring victims. This behavior undermines the maqāshid of the Qur'an, teachings of all religions, and moral norms. Teachers and caregivers are meant to be dignified and honorable people. Sexual harassment is a form of sexual violence that harms victims both physically and mentally. Interpretation scholars emphasize that every individual has the right to dignity and honor, which Islamic shari'a regulates. Therefore, Islamic law prohibits immoral acts, including sexual harassment, which is considered faḥsyā’ or fāḥisyah (abominable), as it can injure human glory and dignity. The demoralization that occurs will affect the degradation of the charisma of educational institutions and weaken the sacred relationship between caregivers and students.

Studi Komparasi Penerapan Kelas Homogen dan Heterogen Terhadap Tingkat Motivasi Belajar Siswa

The study of the phenomenon of Indonesian educational institutions, particularly that at Madrasah Aliyah Nurul Islam Bades Pasirian Lumajang in East Java, discovered a number of phenomena, including the use of homogeneous and heterogeneous classes based on majors and gender, low learning motivation from male homogeneous students, and student learning activity dominated by female students. This study aims to ascertain how students behave in class before to, during, and after learning activities. This homogeneous class is typically used in education under the direction of the ministry of religion to place restrictions on relationships between male and female pupils in accordance with Islamic law. The paucity of classrooms that can be used for instruction and the small class size are two additional factors that are taken into account when applying it to heterogeneous classes. As can be seen from the aforementioned circumstances, scholars are interested in examining this phenomena because classroom managemen.

The Impact of Implementing New Public Management, Performance Budget Reporting Models in Educational Institutions

The public administration reforms of the late 1970s brought about revolutionary changes in the delivery of social services and the accounting for government spending and government organizations. A significant challenge Indonesian educational institutions face is allocating resources according to the steps to be taken. Empirical evidence shows that implementing planning and budgeting in school management still needs to be more efficient and full of obstacles. So that the purpose of this study is to find out and analyze the impact of new public management, a model of reporting performance budgets on educational institutions. This research is part of qualitative research using a systematic review approach. Based on the synthesis of the literature review that has been carried out, the impact of implementing the new public management, the performance budgeting reporting paradigm in educational institutions can be summarized as follows: 1) Due to limited available resources, performance-based budgeting is very profitable. 2) A More Comprehensive and Integrated Budget Establishment of an integrated and comprehensive budget is the second shift in the budget system. 3) Preparation of budget and financial reports is the duty and effort of all elements in the school, not only the treasurer. And 4) Structured Governance Pattern. New public management and performance budget reporting models can have a significant impact on educational institutions. By increasing accountability, increasing transparency, increasing efficiency, and improving performance standards.

The ISM Method to Analyze the Relationship between Blockchain Adoption Criteria in University: An Indonesian Case

Referring to the widespread problem of diploma forgery in Indonesian educational institutions as the impetus for UNTIRTA’s latest vision as an “Integrated, Smart, and Green University,” UNTIRTA intends to use blockchain technology to prevent diploma forgery and overcome issues related to existing platforms at UNTIRTA, such as frequent connection interruptions when accessed by a large number of users simultaneously. Before using blockchain technology, UNTIRTA must evaluate several readiness issues. This study presented the interpretative structural modeling (ISM) method to assess the primary preparedness elements for adopting blockchain technology in universities and sought to provide pertinent strategy ideas for UNTIRTA’s blockchain technology application. The results reveal sixteen major parameters that influence the adoption readiness of blockchain technology at UNTIRTA. The primary variables impacting the adoption and deployment of blockchain technology at UNTIRTA are management and employee support and a grasp of the technology. To realize UNTIRTA’s mission as an “Integrated, Smart, and Green University”, the proposed method entails determining an initial agreement in which all stakeholders have a shared understanding and commitment to Blockchain technology implementation at UNTIRTA. The objective of the tactical proposal is to establish each unit’s mission in the blockchain implementation program. The objective of the technical proposal is to construct a planning document that will serve as a coordination tool between the chairman and members, as well as all parties interested in the adoption of Blockchain technology at UNTIRTA.

An Investigation into Indonesian Students' Opinions on Educational Reforms through the Use of Machine Learning and Sentiment Analysis

An anti-Covid-19 plan with social restrictions forced all Indonesian educational institutions to implement online learning in 2020. Strategy in early 2022, a new policy brought back online learning methods. Because of the rapid change and short adaptation period, online learning, which had been accepted as a solution for approximately two years, has become controversial. There were a variety of reactions in society, particularly on social media, after the rapid shift from face-to-face learning to online learning. This study will quantify text sentiment expressed on social media through machine learning. This study used SVM, RF, DT, LR, and k-nearest neighbors to develop a sentiment analysis model for use in sentiment research (KNN). The SVM- and RF-based sentiment analysis models outperform the others in cross-validation tests using data from the same Twitter social media site. Furthermore, RF can classify public opinion into three groups: positive, negative, and neutral, with a low error rate. The f1 values of our KNN-based model were measured at 75%, 65%, and 87% for negative, neutral, and positive tweets, respectively, which are slightly more accurate than previous studies with the same method and purpose.

Preventing Violence and Extremism in Indonesian Educational Institutions: Policies and Strategies

This article discusses the policies and strategies of the Indonesian government for preventing the influence of radical and extreme religious ideologies in schools and universities. In their survey, PPIM UIN Jakarta in 2019 and the Wahid Institute in 2020 found that Indonesian educational institutions, from high schools to universities, were vulnerable to the influence of extreme views and intolerance. This article examines a number of elements that play a strategic role in preventing violence and extremism in educational institutions, such as government regulations; education curriculum; and the role of internal and external stakeholders, including teachers, parents, students, government officials, and civil society. The authors argue that the strategies and policies of each university and school in preventing radicalism among students have different levels of effectiveness. Synergies involving stakeholders also contribute to the success and failure of securing educational institutions from the dangers of violence and extremism. The results of this study are based on in-depth interviews with a number of selected sources. This paper recommends the need to synchronize strategies and policies related to the prevention of extremism and violence in educational institutions and the more effective participation of all stakeholders.

Peran Pendidikan Islam dalam Pelaksanaan Otonomi Pendidikan di Indonesia

This article describes the role of Islamic education in the implementation of educational autonomy that occurs in Indonesia, both in Islamic educational institutions and in general education institutions. The results of the study indicate that Islamic education plays a major role in the implementation of educational autonomy. This is because Islamic education is a separate part that is able to implement its curriculum in Islamic educational institutions. This research is a literature study so that the data analyzed are sourced from various literature references by using literature analysis in revealing the data. Thus, the implementation of educational autonomy in various Indonesian educational institutions goes well together in accordance with the educational and learning objectives to be achieved. In the context of Islamic education itself, the entire PAI curriculum is able to synergies with other subjects implemented in schools and madrasa.

TQM Implementation in Character Education: Lessons Learned from Pesantren Gontor

Due to its significance, character education implementation at Indonesian educational institutions including the Indonesian Islamic Boarding School (pesantren) is compulsory. However, the quality of its implementation within pesantren needs to be developed. This research was conducted to investigate the implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) in the character education process as an endeavour to create Indonesian good citizens. To achieve the research objectives, a qualitative case study design at Pesantren Gontor was employed. The research found that the process of character education at this pesantren is based on the core values of Gontor. There are some core characters inculcated at Gontor comprising sincerity, simplicity, self-reliance, care, freedom, religiousness, tolerance, discipline, and responsibility. Those characters are inculcated through the dynamic totality of campus life which contains a wide range of activities aimed at creating good citizens for Indonesia. The methods of character education are role model, creating a conducive milieu, directing, giving assignments, habituation, instruction, and training. Those methods are underpinned by the implementation of the basic concept of TQM that emphasises customer satisfaction which is limited by Gontor values. Based on the research findings, pesantren- based character education which is underpinned by TQM could be adopted by other models of educational institutions.

Investigating EFL Teachers' Professional Development in Frater Don Bosco Senior High School Lewoleba

Abstract Undoubtedly, to promote more holistic, pleasurable, and meaningful second language learning enterprises for learners, EFL teachers are advocated to sustainably hone their professional development concerning their knowledge and pedagogical competencies. This present qualitative study was conducted in the light of the critical incident technique to discover particular unforgettable teaching-learning events enabling teachers to promote significant changes in their vocation. Further, 10 self-reflective inquiries were also addressed to 2 invited senior EFL teachers working in Frater Don Bosco Senior High School Lewoleba, Nusa Tenggara Timur Province. Two major findings were revealed from these self-reflective inquiries namely EFL teacher’s sound desire to continue upgrading professional development through professional learning and EFL teacher’s strong intentions to improve learners’ target language competencies through the exhibition of professional development. Although the two invited EFL teachers had significantly fostered their professional development through profound caring, attentiveness, and understanding of learners’ distinctive learning backgrounds, it is indispensably required for Indonesian educational institutions to provide a considerable number of professional development training appropriate with varied teaching-learning contexts undergone by our teachers to ensure that a higher degree of professionalism resided within their careers and learners’ learning rides. Investigating Indonesian Novice EFL Teachers’ Perceptions On Their Identity Construction

Previous studies indicated that the majority of second language teachers were in serious hurdles in reconstructing their identities formation. The major hurdles that matter most in this debilitating inhibition are the lack of extensive emotional supports, minimum exposure of teaching ownership, and contradicting educational paradigms. This qualitative study aimed to further investigate Indonesian novice EFL teachers’ perceptions of their identity construction. To gather reliable data, the critical incident technique manifested in the form of seven critical self-reflection inquiries were being asked to 3 invited novice EFL teachers possessing a vast range of teaching experiences resided in various Indonesian educational institutions. Three major themes were drawn from the interviewees’ excerpts namely the importance of inducing more proactive teaching-learning engagement, establishing mutual rapports with learners as well as working colleagues, and rejuvenating the ongoing professional identity construction aligned with external institutional demands.

Tantangan Pembelajaran Bahasa Arab Di Era Society 5.0: Analisis Pembelajaran Bahasa Arab Berbasis Aplikasi Interaktif

The Revolutionary Era 4.0, which has just been rolled out, has been replaced by the presence of the Society 5.0 era which directs people to utilize technology in every activity, including in the field of education. Arabic as a foreign language taught in various Indonesian educational institutions is also trying to keep up with the times. One of the breakthroughs made by educators is to convert and adapt Arabic teaching materials which were in the form of books, modules, and audio into interactive teaching materials designed with the latest applications. This brings out new ideas for the progress of learning Arabic, so that various difficulties experienced so far can be overcome properly. This study aims to identify and describe the challenges faced by Arabic language activists in the era of society 5.0 based on the use of interactive applications to make Arabic learning videos. The research was carried out with a descriptive quantitative approach to explain the results of research in various educational institutions in Bone Regency. The result of this research is that the teachers must have special skills to optimize the use of technology in the learning process, so that students can absorb more of the materials. It can be run by operating video editing applications such as Kine Master, Plotagon, PowerPoint, and others

Pendidikan Pancasila dan Pendidikan Agama Islam Dalam Konteks Kehidupan Beragama

This study explains the position of Pancasila Education and Islamic Religious Education in the context of religious life. There are several forms of the dynamics of religious life such as conflicts that usually occur in students, especially in various Indonesian educational institutions. Conflicts that often occur in schools are disputes between students, power struggles, small problems that are often brought up and teenage love problems. This phase students have begun to recognize feelings of love between the opposite sex. The results show that the position of Pancasila education and Islamic Religious Education is very strategic and occupies. The forefront because they are the mainstream in counteracting negative things for religious life. So, they play an active role in overcoming various violence and conflicts that occur in educational institutions. Thus, Pancasila education and Islamic Education make efforts to guide future generations of future candidates so that they can have a good personality and are certainly. In accordance with the norms of set by Islam itself through a strong religious understanding so that there are no conflicts between them.

Factors Affecting The Implementation of Green Procurement: Empirical Evidence from Indonesian Educational Institution

This paper reported the factors affecting the adoption of green procurement in Indonesian educational institutions. A quantitative method is used to understand the effects between variables on green procurement implementation. Data from respondents working on the divisions of procurement from higher degree institutions in the province of East Java Indonesia are collected in this study. The results were indicated that there are no significant effects on middle management staff, awareness, and corporate responsibility on the implementation of green procurement on educational institutions. At the same time, there is a significant impact of green supply approaches such as ISO certification and eco-design product strategy on the adoption of green procurement.
