Importance of information-seeking styles among patients with cancer pre- and post-treatment: A URCC NCORP Research Base study.

1527 Background: Understanding of information needs and information-seeking styles of patients with cancer is critical for shared decision-making and high quality care. Most patients with cancer want to be involved in the decision-making process but have unmet information needs regarding their disease and its treatment. The goal of this study is to 1) identify information needs and 2) investigate factors associated with information-seeking styles pre-and-post treatment among patients with cancer. Methods: This is a secondary data analysis of a longitudinal study of 1003 patients from nine community oncology practices across the United States that assessed information needs of patients with cancer. We recruited patients aged ≥18 years with a newly diagnosed cancer. Patients supplied demographic and clinical information at enrollment; information needs assessment including concerns (score ranging, 0-100) and anticipated side effects (0-60), questions on information-seeking styles (1-item), decision-making preferences (1-item), and resource usage (5-items) were obtained within two weeks pre-and-post treatment. We performed multinomial logistic regression to evaluate the association of information needs including concerns, anticipated side effects, and decision-making preferences with information-seeking styles (active vs. passive) at pre-and-post treatment. The analysis was adjusted for age, gender, race, marital status, education, overall health, and cancer and treatment types. Results: Mean age was 60.5 (SD=13.0) years. Most were White (93.0%), female (64.0%), had some college (54.3%), and were diagnosed with breast cancer (47.0%). The sources of health information included friends (52.7%), pamphlets (60.2%), and experts (75.6%). Of the total, 43.8% reported that they preferred shared decision making but had concerns about understanding the diagnosis (70.2%) and treatment plan (70.7%). On logistic regression, preference for shared decision making (vs. doctor making all decisions; Odds Ratio (OR) pre-treatment=1.87, p=.01; OR post-treatment =2.3, p<.001), taking notes while meeting with doctor (vs. not taking notes; OR pre-treatment =2.2, p<0.001; OR post-treatment =1.8, p=0.01), and information sought that could be useful later (vs. not useful; OR pre-treatment = 1.9, p=.03; OR post-treatment =1.3, p=0.38) were associated with greater odds of active information seeking. Education and cancer type (pre-treatment) and age, cancer, and treatment types (post-treatment) were significantly associated with active information seeking. Conclusions: Shared decision making and taking notes during doctor visits are crucial factors associated with active information seeking. Interventions tailored to meet information needs of these patients may help increase patient participation in healthcare decision making.

Medikasih Clinic, which is located in Pondok Kelapa Village, Duren Sawit District, East Jakarta City, Special Capital Region of Jakarta, currently relies on a paid platform to manage clinic operations. However, there is no specific health education platform available for patients/customers, and the importance of improving the quality of health services at this clinic is highly recognized. To overcome these challenges, the service team plans to launch a web-based health education platform. This platform aims to support increased patient participation and health literacy by presenting health information from various medical sources. Based on the analysis of popular medical record diagnoses at Medikasih Clinic, we are determined to provide users with easy and reliable access to understanding health conditions, preventive measures, and healthy lifestyle practices. In conclusion, the development of this platform is a progressive step to create a positive impact. A focus on increasing health literacy and patient participation will create a society that is more informed and involved in personal health management. Our recommendation is to engage health experts and specialists to contribute educational content, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the information presented

Use of Wearable Devices to Monitor Postoperative Activity following Cardiac Surgery. A Systematic Scoping Review.

There is an emerging trend of using wearable digital technology to monitor patient activity levels in acute care contexts. However, the overall extent and quality of evidence for their use in acute cardiac surgery care is unclear. The purpose of this systematic scoping review was to evaluate current literature regarding the use of wearable activity trackers/accelerometers to monitor patient activity levels in the first 30-days following cardiac surgery. A systematic scoping review was conducted. A search of CINAHL and MEDLINE Complete databases identified all peer reviewed research evidence published in English between 2010 and 2023. Studies evaluating the use of wearable, technology in adults who had undergone coronary bypass graft surgery (CAGS), and/valve replacement (VR) were included. Study data was summarised thematically. A total of 853 citations were identified. Once duplicates were removed, 816 studies were screened by title and abstract, 54 full-text studies were assessed for eligibility and 11 studies included. Accelerometers were able to capture changing exercise and physical activity levels over an acute care admission. Device use was acceptable to clinicians and patients. Low activity levels in the early postoperative period were associated with longer length of stay and higher 30-day readmissions. Wearable devices are acceptable and feasible to use in acute care. Use of wearable activity trackers by acute cardiac patients may increase patient participation in exercise and identify more sedentary patients who are a greater risk of increased length of stay and hospital readmission.

Entangled in complexity: An ethnographic study of organizational adaptability and safe care transitions for patients with complex care needs.

The aim of this study was to visualize vulnerabilities and explore the dynamics of inter-professional collaboration and organizational adaptability in the context of care transitions for patients with complex care needs. An ethnographic design using multiple convergent data collection techniques. Data collection involved document review, participant observations and interviews with healthcare and social care professionals (HSCPs). Narrative analysis was employed to construct two illustrative patient scenarios, which were then examined using the Functional Resonance Analysis Method (FRAM). Thematic analysis was subsequently applied to synthesize the findings. Inconsistencies in timing and precision during care transitions pose risks for patients with complex care needs as they force healthcare systems to prioritize structural constraints over individualized care, especially during unforeseen events outside regular hours. Such systemic inflexibility can compromise patient safety, increase the workload for HSCPs and strain resources. Organizational adaptability is crucial to managing the inherent variability of patient needs. Our proposed 'safe care transition pathway' addresses these issues, providing proactive strategies such as sharing knowledge and increasing patient participation, and strengthening the capacity of professionals to meet dynamic care needs, promoting safer care transitions. To promote patient safety in care transitions, strategies must go beyond inter-professional collaboration, incorporating adaptability and flexible resource planning. The implementation of standardized safe care transition pathways, coupled with the active participation of patients and families, is crucial. These measures aim to create a resilient, person-centred approach that may effectively manage the complexities in care transitions. The recommendations of this study span the spectrum from policy-level changes aimed at strategic resource allocation and fostering inter-professional collaboration to practical measures like effective communication, information technology integration, patient participation and family involvement. Together, the recommendations offer a holistic approach to enhance care transitions and, ultimately, patient outcomes. A Narrative Review: Transforming Pediatric Oncology Care Through Virtual Reality - Pain Management and Enhanced Patient Experience

Virtual reality (VR) technology has received considerable interest in the healthcare field, particularly in pediatric oncology. Thepurpose of this study was to examine the existing and future applications of VR in reducing the discomfort associated withpediatric oncology procedures such as bone marrow biopsy, bone marrow aspirate, and lumbar puncture. A comprehensive search was conducted across numerous databases from 2005 to 2023, embracing several study designs to provide a strong evidence foundation. Using diversion and relaxation strategies, VR can help pediatric cancer patients cope with the emotional issues they confront during operations. VR has shown significant potential for lowering pain and anxiety during several pediatric medical procedures. Patient feedback focused on VR’s empowering and anxiety-reducing benefits, while healthcare staff reported increased patient participation and procedural efficiency. VR implementation challenges include the cost of specialized technology, the need for specific virtual settings, and the need for training healthcare workers. VR shows promise in improving the pediatric cancer experience, but more study and cooperation are required to realize its full potential.

Clinician Perspectives on Risks and Benefits of Sharing Cardiovascular Implanted Electronic Device (CIED) Data with Patients

Background and Objective: Cardiovascular implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) are critical, life-saving devices that are essential for the clinical decision-making process due to the data they collect. Because not all patients have ready access to their device data, there may be a clinical care gap where the CIED data are not being used most effectively in the care of patients with CIEDs. However, sharing CIED data may risk harming clinician-patient relationships and necessitates further study into clinician’s perspectives on CIED data sharing. The objective of this study was to explore clinicians’ perspectives on sharing CIED data with their patients and explore the perceived benefits and concerns.
 Methods: Clinicians involved in CIED care in the United States were recruited for semi-structured phone interviews. Participants were asked questions regarding their experiences and perspectives in sharing CIED data, and were presented scenarios to assess how they would leverage the CIED data in particular situations. Responses from the participants were analyzed by one researcher using thematic analysis.
 Results: Of the 28 clinicians interviewed in this study, the majority were white (85.7%) and located in the midwestern United States (67.9%). Participants included cardiac device clinic nurses and electrophysiology nurses (28.6%), electrophysiologists (25%), electrophysiology advanced practice providers (APPs) (17.9%), cardiologists (14.3%), and cardiology APPs (14.3%). The following themes were identified: (1) Patient engagement with healthcare, (2) Patient selfadvocacy, (3) Patients cannot interpret CIED data, (4) One size does not fit all.
 Conclusion and Potential Impact: Clinicians perceived both potential benefits and harms from CIED data sharing. Clinicians noted that CIED data sharing has the potential to increase patient participation in their healthcare, but it also can cause increased patient anxiety due to insufficient patient education. This study demonstrated some of the ways CIED data sharing may affect clinical practice involving CIEDs and the challenge of sharing complex data elements with patients.

Smartphones facilitate real-time tracking of vital parameters, such as blood glucose levels and physical activity, through integrated devices and applications, supporting personalized and informed decision-making in diabetes care. These applications give patients the tools they need to take charge of their health by providing features such as glucose monitoring, medication reminders, and customized nutrition programs. Timely modifications to treatment plans and interventions in the event of difficulties are made possible by real-time communication between patients and health-care providers. Better health outcomes, increased patient participation, and improved access to high-quality healthcare have all resulted from the use of smartphones in diabetes care. The integration of smartphones into diabetes care represents a paradigm shift, offering convenient access to health-care services, personalized interventions, and ultimately, improved health outcomes for individuals with diabetes.

The Role of Nursing Staff Regarding Goal Setting and Achieving in Geriatric Rehabilitation: A Focus Group Study.

The aim of this study was to explore and clarify the role of nursing staff in geriatric rehabilitation on supporting patients in goal setting and achieving, through reflecting on rehabilitation interventions. A descriptive qualitative study was conducted. We conducted four online focus group interviews with 23 members of the nursing staff working in geriatric rehabilitation. They reflected on six interventions, preclassified into three types: setting goals in the admission phase, increasing patient participation in order to personalize the rehabilitation trajectory, and supporting patients in working on short-term goals. Data were analyzed using thematic content analysis. Setting goals in the admission phase is primarily the task of the multidisciplinary team rather than the nursing staff. Interventions to increase patient participation align with the coordinating role of nursing staff in the rehabilitation team. Working on short-term goals is of great value to patients. The connection between the patient's personal goals and professional treatment aimed at functional recovery can be enhanced by strengthening the position of nursing staff working in geriatric rehabilitation. Members of nursing staff in geriatric rehabilitation see themselves playing a coordinating role in the multidisciplinary team, supporting the patient in goal work. Interventions aimed at advancing patient participation and providing support for short-term goals reinforce this role.

Increasing Patient Participation in Colorectal Cancer Screening in Primary Care: An Evidence-Based Improvement Initiative

Colorectal cancer (CRC), although preventable, can be lethal. An evidence-based interprofessional improvement initiative established CRC risk categorization in patients aged 45 to 75 years using national screening guidelines. A system-wide policy was created, and the guidelines were used across 3 primary care settings during every health encounter for 12 weeks to improve compliance, screening, and referrals for CRC. The numbers of Cologuard and fecal immunochemical tests returned by patients increased statistically after implementation (P = 0.001). A clinically significant 12-fold increase in positive screens with increased referrals for colonoscopy was seen. Patient navigators are recommended as best practice in comprehensive screening programs and contribute to increased compliance.

Disparities in high risk prenatal care adherence along racial and ethnic lines.

The term "high-risk pregnancy" describes a pregnancy at increased risk for complications due to various maternal or fetal medical, surgical, and/or anatomic issues. In order to best protect the pregnant patient and the fetus, frequent prenatal visits and monitoring are often recommended. Unfortunately, some patients are unable to attend these appointments for various reasons. Moreover, it has been documented that patients from ethnically and racially diverse backgrounds are more likely to miss medical appointments than are Caucasian patients. For instance, a case-control study retrospectively identified the race/ethnicity of patients who no-showed for mammography visits in 2018. Women who no-showed were more likely to be African American than patients who kept their appointments, with an odds ratio of 2.64 (4). Several other studies from several other primary care and specialty disciplines have shown similar results. However, the current research on high-risk obstetric no-shows has focused primarily on why patients miss their appointments rather than which patients are missing appointments. This is an area of opportunity for further research. Given disparities in health outcomes among underrepresented racial/ethnic groups and the importance of prenatal care, especially in high-risk populations, targeted attempts to increase patient participation in prenatal care may improve maternal and infant morbidity/mortality in these populations.

Patient participation during discharge medication counselling: Observing real-life communication between healthcare professionals and patients

ObjectivesPrevious studies on hospital discharge showed limited patient involvement, despite its positive outcomes. In this study, provider-patient communication used to enhance patient participation during discharge medication counselling was examined. MethodsThis study comprises a qualitative descriptive observational study. Thirty-four discharge consultations were observed, audio recorded and analysed. We conducted a deductive analysis, elaborating on findings from earlier research. We selected themes and underlying codes illustrating professional-patient communication. For every theme, we identified examples to demonstrate its manifestation during discharge medication counselling. We also assessed what information healthcare professionals (HCPs) shared. ResultsHCPs used cues to increase patient participation, e.g. inquired about patient's preferences, showed empathy and support, and verified understanding of information shared. Patient participation occurred through asking questions, and expressing concerns. A central component in discharge medication counselling was the transmission of information from HCPs to patients. This resulted in HCPs taking a leading role. ConclusionsSeveral HCP cues were detected inviting patients to participate in consultations. Some patients participated in discharge medication counselling. This was influenced by timing of discharge consults, the performing HCP and presence of a relative. Practice implicationsHCPs shared a lot of information with patients. However, this does not automatically mean that patients will be able to understand and apply this information. HCPs should understand the importance of using cues to enable patient participation. One example is using the teach-back method for verifying patient understanding. It may also be desirable to ensure that a relative is present when discharge information is offered.

Use of Artificial Intelligence in Skin Aging

Skin aging is a complex process that involves several extrinsic and intrinsic factors and skin health is an indicator of the well-being of an individual. In recent years, there have been numerous developments using computerized systems to aid in finding solutions and treatments to skin aging processes. Tools like artificial intelligence (AI) can aid in finding solutions and treatments for skin aging. AI can also help in monitoring or identifying early signs of skin aging. Within the field of skin aging, several innovations utilize AI to provide better patient care. There is a gap in knowledge within this field concerning current and future directions concerning skin aging and AI. In this review, we aim to highlight current and prospective applications of AI in skin aging and provide insights into future modalities in this field. Models for AI can serve to increase patient participation in skin-care decisions and eventually enhance the patient-provider experience.

Use of caller ID and text messaging from cell phones to increase response rates in patient surveys

Background: High response rates for patient surveys are required in medical literature to ensure non-response bias is minimised. It is often difficult to achieve a satisfactory response rate as patient engagement in surveys is decreasing. A major barrier to phone surveys is getting patients to answer calls from unknown numbers. Purpose: To design a methodology which boosts response rates for telephone-based patient surveys. Research Design: We prospectively analysed the effectiveness of our methodology for increasing patient participation using caller ID and text messanging. Study Sample: Two waves totalling 1313 patients were contacted for participation in a patient survey for a descriptive quantitative and qualitative cohort study using our developed methadology. Data Analysis: We analysed the timepoints at which successful contact was made when using caller ID and text messanging. Results: We achieved a call answer rate of 85.4%, which was a 70.8% increase when compared to a similar patient cohort contacted via blocked caller ID (i.e. with privacy settings). Conclusion: We have developed a simple, inexpensive methodology which, when tested outside the Australian setting and for other projects, shows promise for increasing patient survey response rate.

Spring damping based control for a novel lower limb rehabilitation robot with active flexible training planning.

During neurological rehabilitation training for patients with lower limb dysfunction, active rehabilitation training based on interactive force recognition can effectively improve participation and efficiency in rehabilitation training. This study proposes an active training strategy for lower-limb rehabilitation robots based on a spring damping model. The active training strategy included a kinetic model of the human-machine system, calculated and verified using a pull-pressure force sensor We used a dynamic model of the human-machine system and tensile force sensors to identify the human-machine interaction forces exerted by the patient Finally, the spring damping model is used to convert the active interaction force into the offset angle of each joint, obtaining the active interaction force followed by the active movement of the lower limbsRESULTS:The experimental results showed that the rehabilitation robot could follow the active interaction force of the subject to provide assistance, thus generating the following movement and effectively helping patients improve joint mobility. The active flexibility training control strategy based on the virtual spring damping model proposed in this study is feasible, and motion is stable for patients with lower limb dysfunction after stroke Finally, the proposed active training method can be implemented in future work in other rehabilitation equipment and combined virtual reality technology to improve rehabilitation training experience and increase patient participation.

Abstract A comprehensive assessment of researcher needs to increase biospecimen donations for breast cancer research: A Patients and Researchers Together (PART) Program Introduction: Tissue-based breast cancer research can help translate scientific discoveries to improve treatments or reduce cancer risk. Tissue donation programs require a partnership between patients being asked to donate tissue and researchers using tissue for translational investigation. Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC) has established a program called Patients and Researchers Together (PART) to increase the number of patients that donate tissue for research. PART believes patients will be more willing to donate tissue if they are informed about the research process and its impact and are valued as partners of LCCC. The PART program is evaluating the tissue donation process to positively impact efficiencies. Methods: PART leaders conducted interviews to assess current and future needs of LCCC cancer care providers involved in tissue-based research. A total of 13 breast cancer care providers at LCCC with different lengths of research experience were interviewed. These included 4 surgeons, 4 clinical study coordinators, 2 pathologists, 2 medical oncologists and 1 member of the Tissue Procurement Facility (TPF) staff. Interviewees identified key themes, provided insight into barriers and facilitators, and recommended resources to enhance the tissue-based research process. Results: Interviewees noted the high need for fresh tissue, which requires real-time coordination between clinicians, clinical study coordinators, surgeons, pathologists and researchers. Interviewees identified numerous barriers to the tissue donation process that hinder patient recruitment. These included: lack of knowledge about tissue-based research, time commitment required by an additional procedure, loss of privacy, lack of trust and knowledge about how the tissue will be used and access to cancer care (transportation). Interviewees also identified facilitators for recruiting patients to donate tissue for research, including: tailored communication between the patient and their cancer care team, a high interest in medical research, plain language and understandable educational materials and input of a trusted care team member at the appropriate time. Interviewees identified the need for additional tissue collection support and provided recommendations to improve the tissue donation process. Recommendations included: 1) increase the quantity of tissue available for research, 2) increase the racial and treatment history diversity of patients involved in tissue donation research, 3) increase diversity in the biological types of tissue donations (i.e., blood, stool, tumor), and 4) ensure that the available tissue is optimal for use in research. In addition, interviewees identified resources to enhance the tissue-based research process. One suggested resource is a team of coordinators tasked with managing the day-to-day operations of the tissue collection process and serving as a point of contact throughout. Ideally, the designated team would facilitate communication throughout the tissue collection process from the identification of a patient to the tissue’s use in research. Other recommendations included plain language patient educational materials, internal website improvements to enhance communication between researchers, and a written standard operating procedure guide shared with clinical and research team members. Finally, interviewees noted the importance of communication between tissue collection process stakeholders, highlighting the disparity in knowledge regarding best practices between new and more experienced researchers. Findings can inform the development of educational materials and other strategies to increase patient participation in tissue-based breast cancer research. Implementing electronic patient reported outcomes in inflammatory bowel disease: patient participation, score reliability and validity

BackgroundPatient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) are recommended for assessing patient-centered outcomes in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The main aims were to assess the level of participation in an electronic PROM (ePROM) data collection system among patients with IBD, and evaluate reliability and validity of the resulting scores.MethodsPatients included in the IBD registry of Maccabi Healthcare Services, a state-mandated healthcare provider for over 2.6 million people in Israel, were invited to complete the IBD-Control measure and a general health item, with follow-up ePROMs at 3 and 6 months including a global rating of change item. Descriptive statistics were used to compare patient characteristics by participation rate, and assess survey completion time. Initial scores were assessed for internal consistency reliability using Cronbach's alpha. Test–retest reliability was assessed using the intraclass correlation coefficient from paired scores of patients identified as unchanged between the initial and first follow-up. Construct validity was assessed by the ability of IBD-control scores to discriminate between patient sub-groups in expected ways. Empirical validity was assessed using ePROM score correlations with laboratory markers of disease activity. Score coverage was also assessed.ResultsA total of 13,588 patients were invited to participate [Mean age = 49 years (SD = 17); females = 51%]. Participation rate was 31.5%. Participants compared to non-participants were slightly older, were more likely to be female, to have a history of biologic treatment, to have higher socio-economic status, and to be more experienced in the usage of the digital patient portal. Median survey completion time was approximately 1:30 min. Internal consistency and test–retest reliability were 0.86 and 0.98, respectively. Scores discriminated between patient sub-groups in clinically expected ways, with expected correlations to laboratory markers of disease activity. A notable ceiling effect was observed (> 15%) for IBD-Control scores.ConclusionsFeasibility, reliability, and validity of the ePROM system was supported for measuring the level of perceived disease control in patients diagnosed with IBD in Israel. Additional research is needed to identify ways to increase patient participation, assess clinical implications of the identified measurement ceiling of the IBD-control, and evaluate the added value of the derived scores in support of clinical decision making.

A SURVEY ON MEDICAL AND DISEASES PREDICTION USING MACHINE LEARNING

Machine learning is a subfield of AI and computer science that seeks to mimic human learning by enhancing its accuracy via exposure to more data and more complex algorithms. To improve software's predictive abilities, it doesn't need to be expressly coded to use machine learning (ML). Predictions from machine learning algorithms are based on past data. Machine learning has the ability to shake up the healthcare sector by providing novel approaches to managing healthcare data, reshaping patient treatment, and reducing back-end administrative tasks. Medical professionals and hospital administrators may benefit financially from the use of machine learning to deliver data-driven clinical decision support (CDS). Better health outcomes can be achieved with the help of machine learning thanks to increased patient participation in the treatment process. When applied to the IoMT, ML can collect more precise patient data and automate message alerts that prompt patients to take action at just the right time.

Patient Preferences for Cardiac Rehabilitation – A Systematic Review

Although a large number of studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of cardiac rehabilitation(CR), patient preferences for CR remain unclear. Knowing patient preferences may contribute to increasing patient participation and adherence, thus improving patient prognosis. A systematic search was carried out using electronic databases and manual reference checks from inception until 15th June 2022. Quantitative studies, qualitative studies and mixed methods studies assessing patient preferences for CR were included. Two researchers independently conducted study selectionand data extraction. CR preferences were divided into three categories: CR settings, CR components, and CR contents. A narrative synthesis was applied to integrate the results of the included studies. The Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT) was used to assess the quality of included studies. Ultimately, 17 publications were included in this study. Regarding CR settings, most patients preferred the hospital to home, some considered both, and a few were willing to accept the local CR club as an alternative setting to the hospital. For CR components, regardless of age and gender, patients considered exercise training and nutrition counseling to be the most important and smoking cessation to be the least important. In exercise intervention of CR contents, progress discussion and encouragement were rated as most critical, and non-conflicting with other activities was rated as least critical. In psychological intervention of CR contents, most patients were willing to accept psychological intervention, and a few patients wanted to heal the trauma with the passage of time. This systematic review provides important insights into patient preferences for CR, clarifying patient preferences for CR settings, components, and contents, along with possible influencing factors. Patient preferences may change due to the COVID-19 epidemic, and there is still a need to focus on patient preferences for CR and conduct more relevant primary research to validate the findings of this paper in the future.

Communicating Patient Safety Information Through Video and Oral Formats-A Comparison.

One way to decrease adverse events is to increase patient participation in their own care. Sahlgrenska University Hospital has introduced a patient safety advisory, consisting of an animated video and structured oral information. This article investigates how the animated video and structured oral information regarding was perceived by the patients and determines which communication method the patients preferred. In this study, we compared patients' attitudes toward patient safety information delivered in video or oral format. Data were collected after intervention through a survey consisting of 5 questions. One hundred thirty-four patients were recruited to the study. Ninety-two patients either watched the video or received oral information. Forty-two patients were given both oral information and viewed the video. Information received by the patients was rated as good or very good by 90% of those viewing the video and by 100% who received the oral presentation ( P = 0.007). Of the 42 participants who received both formats, 74% preferred the oral presentation ( P < 0.001). The patients thought the patient safety information to be good and beneficial. An informative video can complement the oral information, but not replace, when informing patients about patient safety. Providing patients with information in a manner they prefer may increase patient's involvement in their care and possibly reduce the risk of adverse events.
