Management information systems and organizational agility: a bibliometric analysis

Purpose This paper aims to complex relationship between management information systems (MIS) and organizational agility, identifying gaps and key themes to guide future research in this domain. Design/methodology/approach A systematic extraction of 578 relevant articles from the Scopus database was conducted to provide an in-depth bibliometric analysis of the evolving role of MIS in enhancing organizational agility. Data analysis and visualization were performed using R Studio and VOSviewer. Findings The analysis highlights significant publication trends and identifies leading countries, institutions and journals in MIS and organizational agility research. Collaborative efforts from nations such as the USA, China and the UK, were prominent, focusing on information technology alignment, strategic agility and big data analytics. This study delineates distinct research clusters and future research questions, offering a clear trajectory for ongoing exploration in the field. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is one of the first to provide a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the intersection between MIS and organizational agility. It offers valuable insights into research trends and future directions while emphasizing the need for MIS deployment, thereby contributing to a comprehensive understanding of the field.

Research hotspots and trends of mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles for drug delivery: a bibliometric and visualization analysis from 2013 to 2023.

Our study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles (MSC-EVs) in drug delivery research, focusing on the period between 2013 and 2023. Given the increasing global interest in this field, we utilized bibliometric tools to explore publication trends, key contributors, and thematic research clusters. Data was collected from the Web of Science (WoS) database, and an in-depth bibliometric analysis was conducted using VOSviewer. The analysis encompassed bibliographic coupling, co-citation, co-authorship, and co-occurrence trends, offering a structured insight into global research activity. We also employed Citespace to further analyze thematic clusters in this domain. Our analysis revealed a total of 1,045 publications related to MSC-EVs in drug delivery over the past decade, showing a steady increase in research output. China led in publication count, H-index, prolific authors, and research funding, while the United States ranked highest in total citations, average citation counts, and H-index performance. Pharmaceutics emerged as the leading journal by publication volume, with the Journal of Controlled Release having the strongest total link strength. Top institutions driving research included Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhejiang University, and Harvard University. VOSviewer analysis identified four major research clusters: tissue engineering, cancer, neurological diseases, and targeted delivery. Citespace analysis refined this further into ten thematic areas, including differentiation, tissue regeneration, and drug resistance. This bibliometric assessment provides a holistic visualization of the research landscape for MSC-EVs in drug delivery, underlining the significant contributions of China and the United States. Our findings underscore the increasing global importance of MSC-EV research and highlight emerging themes that will likely guide future research directions. The insights from this study offer a foundational framework for identifying nascent frontiers in MSC-EV-based drug delivery.

Evolution and Trends in Digital Wallet Research: A Bibliometric Analysis in Scopus and Web of Science

Digital wallets have become a driving force in the global economy, with 2.4 billion users worldwide in 2020, a figure projected to reach 3.6 billion by 2026. This study conducts an in-depth bibliometric analysis to evaluate the current state and future trends of digital wallet research using scientific databases such as Scopus and Web of Science. A scoping review methodology was applied, in which we analyzed 778 documents, following an eligibility process with the following search terms: “digital wallet”, “mobile wallet”, and “e-wallet”. Results show that India, the United States, and China are leading research efforts in this field. Key factors influencing the adoption of digital wallets include data security, ease of use, and integration with traditional payment systems. While much research has focused on technological innovation and adoption, significant gaps remain in areas such as blockchain integration and AI-driven solutions. This article provides the first comprehensive bibliometric analysis of digital wallets, offering crucial insights into emerging trends such as “blockchain”, “electronic commerce”, and “digital payments” and their role in shaping the future of financial technology.

A Bibliometric Review of the Trends of Construction Digitalization Research in the Past Ten Years

The adoption of digital technologies into construction practices has become a critical area of interest, particularly in addressing challenges related to efficiency, quality, and sustainability. This study focuses on the impacts of digital technologies such as building information modeling (BIM), automation, and blockchain on the construction industry. An in-depth bibliometric analysis of the literature from 2013 to 2023 was conducted using data from the Elsevier Scopus database. Employing the key terms “Construction” and “Digitalization” in the Scopus database ensured that this research systematically identified and examined relevant articles related to digital technologies in construction. Advanced tools like the VOS viewer were used to analyze bibliometric networks, providing insights into current research trends within the built environment sector. The findings strongly focused on digital modeling, automation, and blockchain technologies. The findings also revealed new paradigms such as smart contracts and modular construction. This investigation enhances the academic discourse by elucidating the various nuances, ongoing developments, and future directions in the evolving field of construction digitalization research.

From building energy modeling to urban building energy modeling: A review of recent research trend and simulation tools

Initiatives aimed at retrofitting the existing buildings stock and constructing Zero Carbon Community (ZCC) have been recognized as highly effective measures for reaching the zero emission carbon goals set by the EU Commission by 2050. The Building Energy Modeling approach focuses only on typical individual building and it is hardly suitable for assessing the performance and the mutual interaction of a group of interconnected buildings In this case the application of Urban Building Energy Modeling (UBEM) is required. Research on UBEM constitutes the foundation for reducing the energy needs of the built environment; however, there is currently a lack of knowledge on UBEM concept, workflow and related simulation tools. This paper has twofold objectives; first presents an in-depth bibliometric analysis, through CiteSpace, to analyze the developmental trajectory of emerging simulation UBEM method. The analysis encompasses the distribution of authors collaborations, geographic and institutional cooperation in publications and research hotspots. Based on this, the paper summarizes the development trends and potential directions for research in the UBEM field. Furthermore, as a second objective, the paper provides a comprehensive analysis of the main UBEM tools with focus on the input and output data, simulation engine and data workflow. The final scope of this study is to offer to urban planners and policymakers a comprehensive framework as a starting point for approaching zero-carbon communities’ from both the concepts and the simulations analysis point of view.

Treatment techniques and resource recovery of source-separated urine: a bibliometric analysis and literature review.

Human urine, which is high in nutrients, acts as a resource as well as a contaminant. Indiscriminate urine discharge causes environmental pollution and wastes resources. To elucidate the research status and developmental trajectory of source-separated urine (SSU) treatment and recovery, this study was based on the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) database and used the bibliometric software VOSviewer and CiteSpace to conduct a comprehensive and in-depth bibliometric analysis of the related literature in this field. The findings revealed a general upward trend in SSU treatment and recovery from 2000 to 2023. The compendium of 894 scholarly articles predominantly focused on the disciplines of Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, and Water Resources. China and the USA emerged as the foremost contributors. Keyword co-occurrence mapping, clustering, and burst analysis have shown that the recovery of nitrogen and phosphorus from urine is currently the main focus, with future prospects leaning toward the retrieval of biochemicals and chemical energy. This study systematically categorizes and compares the developmental status, current advancements, and research progress in this field. The findings of this study provide a valuable reference for understanding developmental pathways in this field of research.

Bibliometric Exploration of the Relationship between Fiscal Policy and Macroeconomic Stability

This research explores the relationship between fiscal policy and macroeconomic stability through in-depth bibliometric analysis, utilizing articles from various academic databases. Focusing on Indonesia, this study identifies trends, patterns and empirical evidence showing the impact of various fiscal policy tools on key macroeconomic indicators such as GDP growth, inflation rates and unemployment rates. Through a methodology that includes data collection, processing, descriptive analysis, and visualization, this research provides insights into the effectiveness of fiscal policy in stabilizing the economy as well as its interaction with monetary policy. The results show that effective coordination between fiscal and monetary policies is crucial for macroeconomic stability, especially in the face of economic crises. From a bibliometric perspective, this analysis also reveals underexplored research areas that have potential for further investigation.

A comparative bibliometric analysis of communication education studies across journals: A tri-journal review

This article conducted an in-depth bibliometric analysis of the communication education studies published over a given period in three leading academic journals. It also provides a good reference for future researchers engaged in studying or designing new curricula as well as being able to base decisions made about content issues related to communications education soundly upon empirical evidence. Many academic journals, including Journalism and Mass Communication Educator, Communication Education, and Communications Teacher provide channels for researchers in the field to publish empirical findings or new teaching methods; likewise allow academics at different levels with pedagogical interests to share their experiences. Journalism and Mass Communication Educator collects teaching materials on journalism and media, while followed by series of this publication now become publishes practical content written by communication preceptors. The comparisons of findings provided with respect to the three selected journals of Communication Education, Journalism and Mass Communication Educator, and Communication Teacher will help identify similarities and differences in publication trends of these journals’ literature. All three are characteristically experiencing an even upward trajectory of their yearly article count that attests to the buoyancy of communication education research.

Gender and Advertising: A 50-Year Bibliometric Analysis

This study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the state of research on gender and advertising. For this, a bibliometric review of 2,735 research articles was conducted using performance analysis and science mapping techniques to provide valuable insights into publication trends and their relevance to various topics. Visualization of the network and in-depth bibliometric analysis on publications, authors, countries, references, and keywords were performed using CiteSpace and VOSviewer. The findings show that the scholarly literature on gender and advertising has grown exponentially in the last 50 years, especially since 2010, with triple-digit annual publications. The most prolific author is M. Eisend and the journals with the highest number of publications are Sex Roles, the Journal of Advertising, and the International Journal of Advertising. The topic is highly valued both within its field and across other disciplines, including psychology, education, health, and social sciences (economic, and political). A total of 91 countries have contributed to the literature, with the largest contribution from the United States. Brazil is currently experiencing a citation burst. The active keyword hotspots include mental health, social media, purchase intention, engagement, and portrayals.

Epistemology of e-democracy and e-governance through scientific mapping

This paper aims to address the current limitations in knowledge about e-democracy by establishing the conceptual, intellectual, and social structure of scientific literature. Hence, this paper offers an in-depth bibliometric analysis of the literature that has addressed this reality since its first publication in 1983. The most important scientific databases currently used in the academic field were consulted to achieve this objective: Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus. In the case of WoS, 540 articles were identified, 572 in the case of Scopus. The results were harmonised to obtain a final 773 articles under study. This harmonisation of results from different databases is a differential element concerning other studies in which the analysis was carried out on a single database, thus reducing a global and homogeneous vision of the possible connections and interrelationships of the realities analysed. The information collected has been processed using the Bibliometrix tool, which provides information on annual scientific production, authors, journals, topics, keywords, etc. The processing and analysis of the results has made it possible to identify research trends in the area, establish relationships between them and detect future research opportunities for the e-democracy phenomenon.

The top 100 most cited articles in the past 30 years of wheat allergy: a bibliometric analysis.

Wheat allergy (WA), characterized by immunological responses to wheat proteins, is a gluten-related disorder that has become increasingly recognized in recent years. Bibliometrics involves the quantitative assessment of publications within a specific academic domain. We aimed to execute an extensive bibliometric study, focusing on the past 30 years of literature related to wheat allergy. We searched the Web of Science database on 5th Dec 2023. We used the keywords "wheat allergy or wheat anaphylaxis or wheat hypersensitivity," "gliadin allergy or gliadin anaphylaxis or gliadin hypersensitivity," "wheat-dependent exercise-induced anaphylaxis," and "baker's asthma" for our search. All items published between 1993 and 2023 were included. The top 100 most cited articles were identified and analyzed. Our study conducted an in-depth bibliometric analysis of the 100 most-cited articles in the field of wheat allergy, published between 2002 and 2019. These articles originated from 20 different countries, predominantly Japan and Germany. The majority of these articles were centered on the pathogenesis and treatment of wheat allergy (WA). The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (JACI) was the most prolific contributor to this list, publishing 14 articles. The article with the highest citation count was published by Biomed Central (BMC) and garnered 748 citations. The peak citation year was 2015, with a total of 774 citations, while the years 1998, 2001, and 2005 saw the highest publication frequency, each with 7 articles. Our study aims to provide physicians and researchers with a historical perspective for the scientific progress of wheat allergy, and help clinicians effectively obtain useful articles that have a significant impact on the field of wheat allergy.

Bibliometric analysis of Sci-Hub downloads by Egyptian researchers

In this study we present an in-depth bibliometric analysis of Sci-Hub downloads by Egyptian researchers based on the 2017 download log file. The study reveals that Egyptian researchers heavily rely on Sci-Hub, generating a substantial 1,357,526 download requests in 2017, with 65% of these occurring outside regular working hours. Cairo emerges as a central hub for this activity, contributing 81.58% of total downloads. Journal articles constitute the majority of downloads at 82.36%, followed by conference papers (12.89%). A discernible trend shows a preference for recent papers published between 2012 and 2017, highlighting the demand for up-to-date research. The analysis also highlights prominent publishers, including IEEE, Elsevier, Wiley, and Springer, as preferred sources for Egyptian researchers. “Journal of the American Chemical Society” and “Journal of Applied Physics” stand out among accessed journals, while IEEE-associated conferences, notably “IEEE Power and Energy Society General Meeting,” dominate conference paper downloads. Examining journal accessibility via the Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB) reveals that 62.84% of journals are accessible, with Science Direct as the leading provider (28.37%). However, a significant gap emerges as 87.39% of downloaded conference papers remain inaccessible through EKB. Furthermore, a semantic analysis highlights recurring themes such as “systems,” “review,” “analysis,” “treatment,” “power,” and “energy,” reflecting the key research areas of Egyptian researchers. Overall, this study offers valuable insights into Sci-Hub’s role in supplementing Egyptian researchers’ resource access and underscores the need for comprehensive resource coverage and accessibility enhancements.

Visualising Current Research Trends in Class Imbalance using Clustering Approach: A Bibliometrics Analysis

In recent years, extensive research has been carried out on big data class imbalance problems using the clustering approach. The bibliometric analysis employs statistical techniques to map and assess trends in a specific research domain based on keywords, author affiliations, and citations. Bibliographic analysis assists us in comprehending unstructured big data. This study aims to present a comprehensive literature review on class imbalance problems using the clustering approach and identify gaps in the research domain using bibliometric analytical techniques. The Scopus and Web of Science databases were used to extract 663 articles on class imbalance data using a clustering approach published between 2010 and 2021. We used the VOS (Visualisation of Similarities) viewer to visualise the bibliometric analytical outcomes. Co-citation and co-word analysis were used to visualise the publication trend and identify areas of current research interest. The study's key findings evidenced a growing interest in the research domain. Herrera, f., and Chawla N. V. are dominant authors in this field, and China is leading the publication in the clustering approach for the big data imbalance problem. The top three affiliations are from China: Tsinghua University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Beihang University. Conducting an in-depth bibliometric analysis using other databases such as Science Direct, IEEE, and Emerald is recommended. This study may assist researchers in understanding the nature of the big data imbalance problem using a clustering approach and providing insights for future research derived from these worldwide databases.

Mapping the Research into Mental Health in the Farming Environment: A Bibliometric Review from Scopus and WoS Databases

A significant part of the world economy is devoted to agriculture. The sector accounts for 27% of global employment and 4% of global GDP. Approximately 28.5 million farms are located in Europe and Latin America. In this sector, many uncertainties negatively impact farmers’ mental and emotional well-being. Many factors contribute to increased stress and a worsening of farmers’ mental health, including health problems resulting from the conducting their profession, economic uncertainty, the effects of climate change, and technological changes in the agricultural sector. Despite the existence of literature review studies related to mental health in agriculture, no bibliometric review study has been conducted. This article presents the first in-depth bibliometric analysis of the scientific literature on mental health in agriculture and operates based on Scopus and Web of Science databases. The results are presented as tables and explanatory diagrams describing the findings. The findings show the exponential increase in research in the last ten years and the evolution towards more social and health-related topics across the previous five years. The most common keywords are “suicide”, “stress”, and “depression”. No topic has been found where the current scientific production was significantly larger than the rest, indicating the wide variety of research sub-topics in this field.

Mapping the landscape of HRM research in higher education: a 40-year review and directions for future research

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to analyze and map the terrain of human resource management (HRM) in higher education (HE) contexts, with the aim of uncovering potential gaps within the existing knowledge base.Design/methodology/approachThis study employs a unique, in-depth bibliometric analysis of 945 publications from the Web of Science database over the past 40 years between 1981 and 2022.FindingsBased on the bibliometric analysis, the authors retrospectively examined the dominant research themes in HRM within the HE sphere, tracing their evolution over time. Four central clusters emerged: the theoretical foundations of HRM, strategic HRM, organizational culture and human capital development. Furthermore, the authors pinpointed critical research gaps and proposed areas for future inquiry, such as the impact of HRM on productivity, leadership dynamics, sustainable growth development, international staffing strategies and knowledge transfer mechanisms.Research limitations/implicationsThis study demonstrates how academics can use bibliometric techniques to systemize literature, expose potential gaps and suggest fruitful lines of inquiry in the field of investigation. The findings of this study can also help improve the decision-making processes of managers and human resource professionals.Originality/valueThis study provides readers with a systematic understanding of the development of HRM in HE settings and presents forward-looking perspectives, highlighting future research possibilities. Moreover, it validates the significance of bibliometric analysis as an efficient technique for discovering gaps in the existing literature.

The analysis of keyword frequency highlights 'cloud', 'data', 'computing', 'security', and 'block chain' as dominant themes, indicating a strong emphasis on data integrity, security, and emerging technologies in cloud computing.Sentiment analysis of research abstracts reveals a predominantly positive yet cautiously optimistic tone, reflecting the field's optimistic outlook towards advancements and potential applications, balanced by an awareness of inherent challenges. The study also delves into the impact of authors and organizations, identifying influential contributors and collaborative networks within the academic community.In conclusion, this paper provide a comprehensive overview of the cloud computing research landscape, offering valuable insights for researchers, policymakers, and industry leaders. It underscores the significance of cloud computing in modern society and highlights the need for continued exploration and innovation in this critical technology domain.

Visualizing the global trends of peptides in wound healing through an in-depth bibliometric analysis.

Wound healing is a complicated and multistage biological process for the repair of damaged/injured tissues, which requires intelligent designs to provide comprehensive and convenient treatment. Peptide-based wound dressings have received extensive attention for further development and application due to their excellent biocompatibility and multifunctionality. However, the current lack of intuitive analysis of the development trend and research hotspots of peptides applied in wound healing, as well as detailed elaboration of possible research hotspots, restricted obtaining a comprehensive understanding and development in this field. The present study analysed publications from the Web of Science (WOS) Core Collection database and visualized the hotspots and current trends of peptide research in wound healing. Data between January 1st, 2003, and December 31st, 2022, were collected and subjected to a bibliometric analysis. The countries, institutions, co-authorship, co-citation reference, and co-occurrence of keywords in this subject were examined using VOSviewer and CiteSpace. We provided an intuitive, timely, and logical overview of the development prospects and challenges of peptide application in wound healing and some solutions to the major obstacles, which will help researchers gain insights into the investigation of this promising field.

This study aims to identify current research trends and suggests potential areas for future investigation in the field of “luxury consumption behavior.” To achieve this, we gathered a comprehensive dataset spanning five decades, consisting of 1,289 articles from Scopus and Web of Science databases, which underwent rigorous bibliometric analyses. Our bibliometric analysis has unveiled crucial insights, including key performance indicators, emerging areas of study, significant keywords, and prevailing research themes within the luxury consumption domain. The findings emphasize the remarkable growth of luxury consumption as a research area, leading to the identification and examination of five distinct research clusters. Through this in-depth bibliometric analysis, our study enriches the existing body of knowledge on luxury consumption, offering a comprehensive overview of scholarly contributions in this field and paving the way for potential future research endeavors.
