The French experiential knowledge resource center: strengthening and extending its scope of action

Abstract Issue The national committee for experiential knowledge in health promotion (EKHP) aims to promote EKHP and improve professional practices. Since 2017, the committee has created methods and toolkits formalizing the capitalization of EKHP. The levers to put the method into practice are in place, now comes the time to find the best means to foster promotion and appropriation of EKHP works. Description of the problem The national EKHP resource center has been launched in May 2022, online: www.capitalisationsante.fr. It acts as a database where HP practitioners can read, download and upload EKHP capitalization works (∼12-page documents detailing one HP intervention each) and cross-analyses reports. It is driven by three main objectives: 1/ promoting and disseminating HP practitioners’ experiential knowledge, 2/ building a community of practice to improve capitalization practices and 3/ making a useful and transferable data available to practitioners. Results The now two-year-old website has been visited by 32 000+ individuals. More than 120 works, 12 cross-analyses are published. They were submitted by trained HP practitioners and reviewed by an editorial board before publication. The national EKHP resource center offers insight on how HP interventions work from practitioners themselves who share knowledge on their implementation. Compared to best-practices portals, it offers an innovative bottom-up approach to knowledge transfer. The community of practice (CoP) now supports a network of 200+ trained practitioners. This CoP aims to improve knowledge management and ensure the quality of the works produced. Surveys and feedback show that both building up and accessing EKHP meet a high level of interest. Lessons The innovative bottom-up approach and the focus on knowledge management can serve as a model for other settings/countries. In 2024, levers of appropriation will be investigated and collaboration with other HP resource centers will be better identified. Key messages • The now two-year-old national NEKHPRC enhances EK’s part in the HP field by making otherwise unknown data available to the French-speaking HP community. • Building of a strong community of practice ensures the high quality of the bottom-up approach to the uploading of the works.

Tacit knowledge sharing in a Lebanese family business: the influence of organizational structure and tie strength

PurposeThis study explores the influence of organizational structure on relationship formation and tacit knowledge sharing within a family business context.Design/methodology/approachUtilizing a single case study approach, data were collected through interviews and questionnaires from 12 participants at a family-owned advertising and communication firm in Beirut, Lebanon.FindingsThe research highlights the critical role of organizational structure in enhancing organizational effectiveness through knowledge transfer. It underscores how both intraorganizational and interorganizational ties influence knowledge sharing processes and demonstrates the varying impacts of tie strength on tacit knowledge distribution.Originality/valueThis paper contributes to the literature by examining the interdependence between organizational structure, tacit knowledge transfer and tie strength in family businesses. By analyzing these elements across internal and external boundaries, the study offers a fresh perspective on network dynamics. The research highlights that traditional definitions of network ties may not fully capture the unique environment of family firms, where structural nuances impact knowledge sharing and performance. Practically, the findings provide actionable insights for managers to design organizational structures that optimize tacit knowledge flow, fostering innovation and competitiveness. This work challenges existing frameworks and offers guidance for improving knowledge management in family businesses, supporting sustainable growth and success.

Effect of Leadership on Organizational Learning and Knowledge Management in India

Purpose: To aim of the study was to examine the effect of leadership on organizational learning and knowledge management in India. Methodology: This study adopted a desk methodology. A desk study research design is commonly known as secondary data collection. This is basically collecting data from existing resources preferably because of its low cost advantage as compared to a field research. Our current study looked into already published studies and reports as the data was easily accessed through online journals and libraries. Findings: Effect of leadership on organizational learning and knowledge management in India reveals that effective leadership significantly enhances both areas by fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Leaders who prioritize open communication and knowledge sharing create an environment where employees feel empowered to contribute ideas and learn from one another. This, in turn, leads to improved knowledge management practices, as leaders who support training and development initiatives ensure that valuable knowledge is systematically captured, stored, and utilized. Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: Transformational leadership theory, knowledge-based View (KBV) & situational leadership theory may be used to anchor future studies on effect of leadership on organizational learning and knowledge management in India. Organizations should implement and continuously refine leadership development programs that emphasize the integration of transformational, participative, ethical, and servant leadership qualities. Organizations should establish policies that promote leadership styles conducive to effective knowledge management.

The Influence of Knowledge Management on the Culture of Knowledge Sharing With Leadership as an Intervening Variable at the Ministry of Religion of Binjai City

Knowledge management in government institutions is essential to improve operational efficiency, innovation, and quality of public services, as well as ensure adaptability, transparency, accountability, and responsiveness to the needs of society in the era of globalization and increasingly fierce competition. The purpose of this study is to find out and analyze the influence of Knowledge Management on the Culture of Knowledge Sharing mediated by the Leadership at the Office of the Ministry of Religion of Binjai City. This research was conducted with a causal associative quantitative approach. The sample used was all employees with a total of 105 people. The results of data analysis using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Square (PLS) show that Knowledge Management has a positive and significant influence on Knowledge Sharing Culture, with T-statistical values of 2.973 > 1.96 and P-Values of 0.003 < 0.05, which means that an increase in Knowledge Management will significantly improve the Knowledge Sharing Culture. In addition, Knowledge Management also has a positive and significant effect on Leadership, shown by a T-statistical value of 78.253 > 1.96 and a P-Value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that improving Knowledge Management will significantly improve organizational leadership. Other findings showed that Leadership had a positive and significant effect on the Knowledge Sharing Culture, with a T-statistic value of 5.668 > 1.96 and a P-Value of 0.000 < 0.05, which indicates that an increase in Leadership will significantly improve the Knowledge Sharing Culture. Indirect influence analysis showed that Leadership was able to intervene in the influence between Knowledge Management and Knowledge Sharing Culture, with a T-statistical value of 5.796 > 1.96 and a P-Value of 0.000 < 0.05. These results provide important insights that Leadership plays a significant intermediary variable in the relationship between Knowledge Management and Knowledge Sharing Culture at the Office of the Ministry of Religion of Binjai City. These findings underscore the importance of integrating knowledge management strategies and leadership development to improve the culture of knowledge sharing in government institutions.

A Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology Assessment in Learning Resources Management and Development System

The platform for Learning Resource Management and Development System (LRMDS) has the potential to be helpful for learning. Teachers find support and resources from the learning portal of the Department of Education. This study focused on determining the acceptance of the Learning Resources Management Development System (LRMDS) as a learning resource portal using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model among EPP/TLE/TVL teachers in the Division of Iligan City. For the sample selection based on structures and items, Soper's (2024) a-priori sample size calculator for structural modeling was utilized. This calculator calculates the minimum need to identify desired effects for a structural equation model inquiry by considering variables, effect size, and power levels. The study was based on quantitative and qualitative research designs via demographic questionnaire based on the UTAUT theory model and the perception questions. Findings indicate that the effort expectancy and social influence have positive effects on behavior intentions and facilitating conditions; behavioral intentions also have positive effects on use behavior. However, Performance expectancy is not significant. Additionally, qualitative findings suggest that teachers believe the LRMDS can greatly improve teaching effectiveness when viewed as valuable and dependable, resulting in its effective use. Teachers generally consider the content provided by LRMDS to be relevant and sufficient. However, a significant issue is that some resources, particularly in TLE (Technology and Livelihood Education), are outdated, likely due to limited access to ready-made resources and sufficient learning materials. The findings of this study also suggest that enhancing LRMDS integration, communication and outreach efforts are recommended, including a training guide matrix to raise awareness of LRMDS benefits and address misconceptions through targeted campaigns, workshops, and peer sharing. Recommendations include improving knowledge management, simplifying user interfaces, informing teachers about support conditions, and implementing the training guide matrix in public schools to highlight the advantages of the LRMDS portal.

Intelligent competency mapping for improving knowledge management in consulting firms

AbstractThis study explores the application of competency mapping models, incorporating in knowledge management for consulting firms. It evaluates 15 different models, focusing on their suitability for consulting contexts based on data collection, advantages, risks, and limitations. The findings indicate that AI and ML-enhanced competency mapping models are particularly more effective in consulting firms. Finally, the article proposes three key applications of these models for improving knowledge management in consulting firms via empowering communities and collaboration.

Knowledge Management Maturity Model of Higher Education Based-on Quality Culture and Human Resource Management Practices

There are 2 main important things to improve knowledge management maturity (KMM), namely organizational culture and proper HR management. There are no studies on human resource culture and management that are specific to increasing KMM in tertiary institutions. Empirical research on the influence of higher education quality culture as a goal of implementing the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) on all tertiary institutions in Indonesia and the influence of HR management on KMM is still very limited. This study aims to develop a model for improving KMM in Indonesian universities through the implementation of a quality culture and human resource management. The analysis was carried out with a structural equation model (SEM). The results showed that quality culture had a positive and significant effect on human resource management practices, but had no direct effect on knowledge management maturity. Human resource management practices have a positive and significant effect on knowledge management maturity. The results of this study prove the importance of the quality culture of higher education in developing mature knowledge management, through human resource management practices.

KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT IN THE CONDITIONS OF INDUSTRIAL ENTERPRISES INTELLECTUALIZATION AND DIGITALIZATION DEVELOPMENT

Objective. The purpose of the research is to deepen the methodological and applied foundations of knowledge management in the conditions of industrial enterprises intellectualization and digitalization development. Methodology. The methodological basis of the research article is a set of theories and concepts that contribute to a full understanding of the knowledge management process of the content at an enterprise in the context of intellectualization and digitalization: theories of knowledge economy, entrepreneurship, institutionalism, microeconomic theory of knowledge management, theory of new knowledge acquisition; the concept of information society; the concept of intellectual capital; the concept of social capital. The methodology is based on system analysis as a scientific method of researching the enterprise knowledge management functions. The study used quantitative and qualitative methods of data and information collection and analysis; methods of analytical, situational analysis and synthesis; comparative analysis, generalization of scientific experience of modern theoretical research, and a systemic and integrated approach. Results. The article outlines the important role of knowledge management in creating competitive advantages, increasing the value of enterprises and ensuring their long-term sustainable development. A new understanding of the essence of the categories of “knowledge management of an industrial enterprise” and “knowledge management system of an industrial enterprise” has been proposed. A theoretical generalization of the concept of knowledge management of industrial enterprises has been carried out. The article describes new trends in the knowledge management system based on the synergistic relationship between technological components and behavioral aspects in management. The scientific novelty lies in improving the methodology and concept of an integrated knowledge management system and methodological support for its effective practical application. The implementation of the knowledge management system in the conditions of intellectualization and digitalization is substantiated, which improves knowledge accumulation processes, integrates knowledge into the field of the enterprise activity and ensures the exchange of knowledge between employees and key stakeholders. Modern knowledge management tools that enable intellectualization and high-quality digitalization of an enterprise are identified. Recommendations for improving knowledge management at industrial enterprises have been developed, as well as mechanisms for their practical implementation have been proposed. Practical significance of the obtained results. The author’s developments and recommendations can be used to effectively use the intellectual potential of an enterprises to increase economic added value through the growth of organizational knowledge.

The Role of Semantic Web Technologies in Improving Knowledge Management Systems

Purpose: The general purpose of this study was to investigate the role of semantic web technologies in improving knowledge management systems.
 Methodology: The study adopted a desktop research methodology. Desk research refers to secondary data or that which can be collected without fieldwork. Desk research is basically involved in collecting data from existing resources hence it is often considered a low cost technique as compared to field research, as the main cost is involved in executive’s time, telephone charges and directories. Thus, the study relied on already published studies, reports and statistics. This secondary data was easily accessed through the online journals and library.
 Findings: The findings reveal that there exists a contextual and methodological gap relating to role of semantic web technologies in improving knowledge management systems. Preliminary empirical review revealed that that semantic web technologies significantly enhanced knowledge management systems across diverse industries, facilitating better organization, integration, and retrieval of knowledge resources. Adoption of these technologies addressed key challenges such as information overload and semantic heterogeneity, leading to increased discoverability, interoperability, and reuse of knowledge assets. However, successful implementation required considerations of factors like organizational readiness and user acceptance, necessitating investments in training, support, and change management strategies. Overall, semantic web technologies improved knowledge management practices and enhanced organizational competitiveness in the knowledge-driven economy.
 Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: The Social Constructionism theory, Cognitive Load and Diffusion of Innovation may be used to anchor future studies on semantic web technologies. The study recommended that organizations invest in semantic web technologies for knowledge management, prioritize user-friendly KMS, foster a culture of collaboration, establish robust governance, and monitor KMS performance. These measures ensured effective knowledge sharing, decision-making, and innovation, enhancing organizational competitiveness and success.

IMPROVING KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT PROCESS USING BIM IN INDONESIAN STATE-OWNED CONSTRUCTION ENTERPRISES

In today's digital era 4.0, the synergy between the construction industry and information technology is inevitable. Knowledge management plays a critical role in the success of construction companies, enabling them to effectively capture, store, share, and utilize valuable information and expertise. In recent years, Building Information Modeling (BIM) has emerged as a powerful tool that improves knowledge management in the construction industry. This article focuses on implementing BIM in Indonesian state-owned construction companies and how it can improve knowledge management, leading to better project outcomes, efficiency, and competitiveness. BIM-based Knowledge Management (KM) systems can capture, store, and disseminate knowledge to manage facilities through their life cycle. To describe in this study first identified from a literature review how BIM can facilitate improved knowledge management in construction projects. Second, a questionnaire survey of respondents of State Owned Construction Enterprises with ISO 1960 BIM in Indonesia will be further analyzed using a quantitative SEM-PLS analysis to determine the KM types that can be leveled using BIM. The variables used in this study are BIM implementation on KM, processes, effectiveness, and barriers to knowledge management. The results of this study show that BIM performance positively affects KM process improvement, KM effectiveness, and KM obstacle alleviation.

Proposed Knowledge Management System for the Time Efficient in R&D Department of PT Automotive Lumina

The automotive industry has grown post-Covid 19, positively impacting related sectors like car lighting. Due to high demand, PT Automotive Lumina, a lamp manufacturer specializing in OEM car lights, needs better time management. Responding to RFQs for new car models poses significant challenges due to delays caused by dependence on Juoku Technology. To tackle this, the company initiated an independent R&D process, but the need for more effective knowledge management worsens the situation, affecting competitiveness in a rapidly changing market. This research addresses two key questions: What Knowledge Management system can be proposed for time efficiency in the R&D Department of PT Automotive Lumina? and How to implement the suggested Knowledge Management system for time efficiency in the R&D Department of PT Automotive Lumina? Qualitative research methods were employed to study these questions, including interviews with key stakeholders. Analysis revealed eight sub-causes contributing to the observed problems, including a lack of skilled personnel, ineffective knowledge management, reliance on Juoku’s R&D schedule, rapid technological advancements, inefficient processes, limited decision-making authority, limited testing equipment in the R&D department, and most importantly, the absence of a knowledge management system. Several solutions to these challenges are presented based on the SECI, PPT framework, and Core, Advanced, and Innovative knowledge framework. Direct training, knowledge capture, and collaboration tools are among the planned knowledge management programs at PT Automotive Lumina. Preparation procedures were conducted in November and December 2023, with the proposed solution implementation set to begin in February 2024. Following deployment, knowledge management activities will be evaluated, and necessary modifications will be made for future improvements. PT Automotive Lumina aims to enhance time efficiency and support independent R&D through improved knowledge management procedures.

Visualizing the Future of Knowledge Sharing in SMEs in the Construction Industry: A VOSviewer Analysis of Emerging Trends and Best Practices

This review paper systematically synthesizes existing literature on knowledge sharing (KS) and knowledge transfer (KT) in the context of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the construction industry, updating previous research and making predictions about emerging issues. The comprehensive literature review employs three different bibliometric techniques: (1) textual analysis of keywords and abstracts to identify relevant research areas, (2) cocitation analysis of references to analyze the evolution of KS and KT in SMEs, and (3) bibliographic linkage analysis of documents to summarize the background and results. The resulting conceptual map outlines the historical development of KS and KT at individual, group, and organizational levels in the construction industry. The study emphasizes the critical significance of KS and KT for SMEs in this industry. It highlights the role of innovation and open innovation in facilitating the successful implementation of KS and KT. The analysis also reveals the need for enhanced knowledge management in SMEs through better data management, implementation of digital systems for internal management, identification of inefficiencies in KT in collaborative networks, and adjustment of knowledge management approaches to suit different cultural and geographic contexts. Finally, the paper suggests future trends in KS and KT, emphasizing the importance of collaboration, continuous learning, technological capabilities, and developing a suitable organizational culture and structure for open innovation in the construction industry. This article offers an innovative approach to KS and KT in SMEs and practical recommendations for improving knowledge management and innovation capacity in construction-related businesses. Its systematic approach and focus on SMEs in the construction industry make it highly relevant for research and business practice.

Organizational Psychology Analysis in the Context of Knowledge Management for Employee Performance Improvement

Knowledge management has become a key aspect in enhancing organizational competitiveness in the current era of information and technology. Organizations that can effectively manage knowledge tend to be more innovative and adaptable to environmental changes. This research aims to make a significant contribution to the understanding of the interconnection between organizational psychology, knowledge management, and employee performance. The study employs a comprehensive examination of previously published works, utilizing qualitative analysis to achieve a thorough comprehension of the subject, spanning the timeframe from 2016 to 2023. The study's findings indicate that, in the face of the challenges posed by the globalization era and intensifying business competition, companies need to adopt a holistic approach that combines Organizational Psychology Analysis with the concept of Knowledge Management. This approach allows companies to understand and enhance employee performance by gaining in-depth insights into the psychological factors influencing individual behavior within the organization and optimizing knowledge utilization.

DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION CHALLENGES OF EMERGING HOSPITALS IN DIGITAL DISRUPTION

In the era of Industry 4.0, hospitals face numerous obstacles when it comes to embracing digital disruption. One of the major challenges is dealing with big data. With the increasing amount of data being generated in healthcare, hospitals struggle to effectively manage and analyze this vast amount of information. This paper highlights the challenges faced by hospitals in adopting digital disruption in the era of Industry 4.0. Some of the challenges include big data, scalability, data management, security and privacy, standardization, interoperability and regulation, human factors, implementation costs, networking, integrated IT infrastructure, skills, and device/system heterogeneity. The study suggests that immediate implementation of information technology is required to achieve optimal data integration on a national scale. Various recommendations have been formulated, including improving knowledge management of big data analytics and systems, as well as empowering human resources within the organization. The study calls for more research in Healthcare 4.0, addressing key barriers and identifying trends and gaps that require further exploration.

The role of artificial intelligence for management decision: a structured literature review

PurposeThe topic of artificial intelligence (AI) has been expanding rapidly in recent years, gaining the attention of academics and practitioners. This study provides a structured literature review (SLR) on AI and management decisions (MDs) by analysing the scientific output and defining new research topics.Design/methodology/approachThe study uses a rigorous methodological approach to summarise the state of the art of the past literature. The authors used Scopus as the database for data collection and utilised the Bibliometrix R package. In total, 204 peer-reviewed English articles were collected and analysed.FindingsThe results showed that literature in this field is emerging. Studies are focused on using AI as forecasting and classification for management decision-making, AI as a tool to improve knowledge management in organisations and extract information. The cluster analysis revealed the presence of five thematic clusters of studies on the topic.Originality/valueThe study’s originality lies in providing a new perspective on AI for MDs. In particular, the analysis reveals a new classification of research streams and provides fruitful research questions to continue research on the topic.

Nexus Between Knowledge Management Capacity Building and Organization Productivity of Sugar Companies in Kenya

Performance of manufacturing firms has been highly influenced by macro environmental factors ranging from political instability and socio-economic factors. As a result, knowledge management has increasingly become crucial in reducing the impact on both internal and external factors. The study aimed to determine the relationship between knowledge management capacity building and productivity of sugar companies in Kenya. The study assessed the moderating effect of transformational leadership on the relationship between capacity building and the productivity of sugar companies. This was anchored on the theory of change which explains the need for knowledge management in managing business dynamic external environment. The study adopted a positivist research philosophy and correlational research designs. Questionnaires were administered in a census survey to 218 managers working in 8 sugar companies in Kenya. Mean and standard deviation was utilized with frequencies as descriptive statistics. A simple regression was adopted to establish the relationship between knowledge management capacity building and productivity of firms. The finding revealed that the sugar firms shared knowledge, however, there was need to improve knowledge management system, knowledge retrieval and knowledge acquisition. There was significant relationship between innovative capacity building and productivity. The study concludes that there was statistically significant relationship between knowledge management capacity building and organization productivity. It is recommended that there is a need to improve the knowledge management system and policies to enhance productivity of organizations

The Soil Food Web Ontology: Aligning trophic groups, processes, resources, and dietary traits to support food-web research

Although soil ecology has benefited from recent advances in describing the functional and trophic traits of soil organisms, data reuse for large-scale soil food-web reconstructions still faces challenges. These obstacles include: (1) most data on the trophic interactions and feeding behaviour of soil organisms being scattered across disparate repositories, without well-established standard for describing and structuring trophic datasets; (2) the existence of various competing terms, rather than consensus, to delineate feeding-related concepts such as diets, trophic groups, feeding processes, resource types, leading to ambiguities that hinder meaningful data integration from different studies; (3) considerable divergence in the trophic classification of numerous soil organisms, or even the lack of such classifications, leading to discrepancies in the resolution of reconstructed food webs and complicating the reuse and comparison of food-web models within synthetic studies. To address these issues, we introduce the Soil Food Web Ontology, a novel formal conceptual framework designed to foster agreement on the trophic ecology of soil organisms. This ontology represents a collaborative and ongoing endeavour aimed at establishing consensus and formal definitions for the array of concepts relevant to soil trophic ecology. Its primary objective is to enhance the accessibility, interpretation, combination, reuse, and automated processing of trophic data. By harmonising the terminology and fundamental principles of soil trophic ecology, we anticipate that the Soil Food Web Ontology will improve knowledge management within the field. It will help soil ecologists to better harness existing information regarding the feeding behaviours of soil organisms, facilitate more robust trophic classifications, streamline the reconstruction of soil food webs, and ultimately render food-web research more inclusive, reusable and reproducible.

A systematic review on the roles of knowledge management in public sectors: Synthesis and way forwards

The main objective of this study is to examine and synthesise the role of knowledge management in the public sector. The study applied the systematic review technique of Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) to evaluate the role of knowledge management in the public sector using 33 selected web of science core collection journal articles. The study acknowledged that different theories have been applied by the scholars using different research methodologies. The articles published in the stated year show progressive increment, and the authors used different research methods to undertake a study on KM in the public sector. In this review, three research themes in KM research have been identified. Knowledge management for organisational improvement, KM for citizens’ satisfaction, and KM for collaborative innovation management are the main research themes identified in this systematic review.
