Research on Feature Based IC Process Modeling and Clustering

In order to make effective reuse of existing integrated circuit (IC) process cases, improve design efficiency, robustness of design resolutions and overcome knowledge famine and knowledge orientation problems in design process, a feature based hierarchical framework of knowledge modeling and similarity measurements based knowledge clustering method of IC process cases are proposed. In this paper, IC process cases knowledge is represented into four types: sequential type, textual type, crisp type and interval type. According to knowledge classification, sequential similarity measurement for process sequence knowledge and content similarity measurement for the rest types are listed. Finally, existing IC wafer handling process cases of an IC manufacturing enterprise are employed to verify the proposed methods.

Research of the Virtual Prototype of the Balanced Elliptical Motion Shale Shaker

The working principle of the balanced elliptical motion shale shake are presented, Based on the way of parametric design with SolidWorks, The crucial technique for establishing the virtual model is discussed, uses the VBA development tools, realizes the cylindrical cams 3D parameterization design method and the step. The example was given to show the virtual design of the balanced elliptical motion shale shake is presented, the method can effectively improve design efficiency, Provide strong support for the launch of new products, which provides a feasible method for design of the balanced elliptical motion shale shake.

Study on Assembly Design Approach Based on Synchronous Modeling Technology

With the increase demand for product diversity, the best way is to shorten design cycle of product and improve design efficiency. This paper presents an assembly design method of product by means of the use of Solid Edge ST4 3D synchronous modeling technology. In this paper, an industrial manipulator was studied as an example, which was used to account for the design process of assembly design based on synchronous technology and the characteristic of this design method. In the process of design, intelligent assembly technology, top-down assembly technology and synchronous assembly technology are combined with the design of industrial manipulator. The results show that this assembly design method is more convenience to modify design model, can greatly improve design efficiency and accuracy and reduce the iterative design process of similar model, thus greatly improve the product quality.

CFD Optimization Analysis of a Cooling Fan for Mining Dump Truck

Axial flow fans are widely used in our daily lives such as automotive cooling systems, electronic appliances and air conditioning. The factors that affect the aerodynamic performance of axial flow fans include blade number, fan diameter, hub ratio, blade angle, rotating speed, etc. This paper investigates effects of hub ratio and bladenumber on the aerodynamic performance of the axial flow fan of the radiator of a dump truck we previously designed for mining. With the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method, the fans operation condition, such as entry static pressure, effective power and flow rate, are numerically simulated with various hub ratios and blade numbers. The results of the numerical simulations are quantitatively analyzed and curves of fans performance changing with hub ratio and blade number are given. An optimization design for the cooling fan is conducted. The results of numerical simulation give conclusion that an increase of 5.6% of the vacuum static pressure and an increase of 3% of flow rate can be obtained when the hub ratio is between 500-600mm, with the same or even less power consumption. The flow rate increment reaches its peak at 8%, while power consumption efficiency is almost linearly increased, when the blade number increases to be in the range of 8 to 10. That is to say when the blade number is between 8 to 10, the fan is apparently making better use of energy. Compared with experimental method, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method can reduce design circle and lower cost. The CFD results provide guidance to improvement of design efficiency and energy utilization.

Parameterized Design for Cylindrical Shaft Tapered Screw Blades

Screw blade is the essential part of a screw conveyer. The design of large scale, multiple blades screw conveyer involves complicated calculation and repeated work, is low in accuracy and efficiency. With parameterized design as the guiding principle, this article discusses the mathematical model for the development of cylindrical shaft tapered screw blade, and provides a VB based parameterized automatic drawing design method that allows arbitrary division of the helix angle, on the platform of AutoCAD. Practical experience has shown that the method improves design efficiency and accuracy, and is simple and pragmatic.

Model of multidisciplinary simulation integration in helicopter rotor blade design process

The design of the helicopter rotor blade is subjected to several discipline influence during the design process that cause substantial changes in its structure properties and dynamical properties. Therefore, it is important to consider different discipline tool effects on the helicopter rotor blade design process. In this article, a model of multidisciplinary simulation integration (MSI) is established and used to solve the problem of process integration and resources share of different discipline tools in the rotor blade design process. First, the numerical process of rotor blade design is analysed and a flow framework model of two-level flows and a group of nodes is proposed to integrate different discipline tools in the rotor blade design process to act as an integration mechanism. Then, some key enabling technologies of MSI are discussed by analysing integration relations of different discipline tools. Integrated work model of different type of discipline tools is given to realise the proposed flow framework. In the end, the model of MSI is realised based on Visual C++ 6.0, OpenGL and SQL SERVER database. Examples show that the proposed flow framework and the established model are satisfied for improving design efficiency and sharing simulation resources in the rotor blade design process.

Transmission Parameters Optimization Design and Load Factor Formula Fitting of WN Gears Drive

The research is to solve nonlinear constrained optimization problems by the method of sequence quadratic programming (SQP) in MATLAB optimization toolbox and mathematical programming theory. This paper taking the high strength of WN gears drive as design target and the WN gears drive optimization design model of actual project is put forward by the concrete examples which are widely used in modern machine of the high speed and heavy load WN gears drive. Using the optimization design model to analyze the relationship about gear drive parameters on contact and bending fatigue strength. This research adopts the formula fitting design method not only improved design efficiency but also provided application foundation for CAD design of WN gears driving.

Research of Electric Radiator Design Based on DFMA Method

Aimed at optimizing electric radiators design process, the enterprises expectationsmanufacturing technologies and market developing status were analyzed, then electric radiators key design restraining factors were summarized, design orientation was proposed finally. Based on this premise, a block-based electric radiator design scheme was presented with the Design For Manufacture & Assembly method (DFMA), then taking electric radiators key structure and part as an example , the application of DFMA in design practice was discussed in the view of coordinating the relation of product styling effect and structure design. Practices show that DFMA method is beneficial to improve design efficiency and feasibility.

Analysis and Construction of Automobile Steering Gear Model Library Based on CATIA

Automobile steering devices are key parts that change driving direction of automobiles and maintain them stable in a straight line. In order to construct steering gear model quickly and accurately, this paper does parameterized modeling to automobile steering gear through knowledge engineering module of CATIA software. By using Visual Basic can be interactive interface created, modeling can be recorded and modified procedure through the macro mode, and write program code, by using process of external access to realize secondary development of CATIA and complete construction of steering gear model library. Users input corresponding design parameter values that can automatically call parts model; therefore, it shortens product design cycle and improves design efficiency of product.

Stability Analysis of Bipedal Robots Using the Concept of Lyapunov Exponents

The dynamics and stability of passive bipedal robot have an important impact on the mass distribution, leg length, and the angle of inclination. Lyapunov’s second method is difficult to be used in highly nonlinear multibody systems, due to the lack of constructive methods for deriving Lyapunov fuction. The dynamics equation is established by Kane method, the relationship between the mass, length of leg, angle of inclination, and stability of passive bipedal robot by the largest Lyapunov exponent. And the Lyapunov exponents of continuous dynamical systems are estimated by numerical methods, which are simple and easy to be applied to the system stability simulation analysis, provide the design basis for passive bipedal robot prototype, and improve design efficiency.

Modeling Study of Drilling Engineering Cooperative Design Based on Workflow

Drilling construction quality is closely related with drilling engineering design level, however, drilling engineering design includes multi different professional fields such as geology, reservoir and drilling engineering and so on, and optimization design needs people’s cooperative work from different specialties and sections. Today drilling engineering design is usually completed by relevant staffs in isolation, and then drilling engineering planning report is generated by collection. In this process of design, there are lots of problems, such as lack of formation interaction, long design period, and inadequate capability to meet the high efficiency of optimization requirements. In this paper the model of drilling engineering cooperative design based on workflow is put forward, and by using computer workflow technology, planning automatic design workflow and providing cooperative work environment for people in different specialties and fields, it can satisfy the need for information sharing during design process, improve design efficiency, and provide support for drilling optimization design. The multi-user cooperative model and workflow management model of drilling engineering design is detailed in this paper.

Robust Process Design for Continuous Casting Based on Numerical Simulation and Experimental Study

In order to improve design efficiency and reduce design cost, a new method combining numerical simulation with experimental verification was proposed in this study. Firstly, controllable process parameters such as continuous casting speed and cooling water flow rate, are robustly designed according to the numerical simulation results of flow field, process experiments were subsequently done on a newly developed continuous casting machine of lead slice, then the robust optimal design for the continuous casting process were gained. The results show that the cooling water flow significantly affects axial thickness of the lead slice, while the casting speed determines mainly its circumferential thickness. When the casting speed is between 280L/min and 320L/min, and the cooling water flow rate is between 950r/min and 1100r/min at the same time, the axial thickness and circumferential thickness can been kept respectively in1.0±0.03mm and 1.0±0.1mm, which meet the robust design requirements.

3D Modeling and Motion Simulation of Single Surface Corrugated Machine Based on SolidWorks

With SolidWorks software, 3D model of a single surface corrugated machine was developed, and virtual assembly and motion simulation got realized. During virtual design, faults of the single surface corrugated machine can be found out prior to be made, which is helpful to optimize it. And further, it can improve design efficiency greatly and save development cost.

Failure Analysis and Transmission Parameters Optimization Design of WN Gears Drive

This paper taking the high strength of WN gears drive as target, which makes the WN gear device has light weight and compact size. The WN gears drive optimization design model of actual project is put forward by multiple-factor comprehensive failure analysis. The research is to solve nonlinear constrained optimization problems by the method of sequence quadratic programming (SQP) in MATLAB optimization toolbox. Using the optimization program of engineering design examples to analyze the relationship about gear drive parameters on contact and bending fatigue strength, thus the engineering design method of the WN gears drive is improved. This research not only achieved the optimization design of WN gears drive, but also revealed that the interactions between transmission parameters and strength design of the gear, which improved design efficiency and provided application foundation for CAD design of WN gears driving.

RESEARCH ON GENETIC ALGORITHM-BASED RAPID DESIGN OPTIMIZATION

To obtain the competition advantages, the methodology of rapid design (RD) is applied widely in enterprises. Product oriented knowledge applied into product optimization based on design instances can avoid the repeated modeling and analyzing and result in improved design efficiency. Firstly, RD technology is overviewed. Secondly, ge­neral mathematical model of mechanical product rapid optimization is introduced. Thirdly, the process of GA-based rapid optimization combined with BP neural network is derived and the fitness determination of GA Optimization is discussed in detail. Fourthly, on the basis of the uniform trial, the displacement of the H-beam has been calculated. The result shows that the methods are feasible to calculate the fitness of GA with good precise. Finally, an example of H-beam is illustrated to apply GA and BP neural network into design optimization in detail. Research on Identification of Comprehensive Pipeline Headroom in Certain Area

The comprehensive pipeline is a kind of important facilities and equipment and the key to normal operation in metro station, and the certain design requirement of various pipelines’ headroom in specific spatial region need to be met. As a technology centralized upon information and based on three-dimensional mode, BIM technology can express three-dimensional model of metro comprehensive pipeline imaginatively, provide the spatial topological relations among pipelines and relevant detecting calculations. In this paper, the necessity of identification of headroom of metro comprehensive pipeline is deeply analyzed, and then the article designs identification algorithms of headroom of metro comprehensive pipeline according to BIM technology. This algorithm can detect the pipelines which not meet the design requirements of headroom on BIM platform efficiently, thus we can improve design efficiency and quality and liberate labors so that designers can be engaged in more complex design work

PRM98 Optimizing Discrete Choice Experiment Designs Using Simulations

Discrete choice experiments (DCE) range prominently among the applied methods to elicit preferences in the field of health economics. With ongoing methodological learning, best practice remains a moving target. It is seldom plausible to implement a full factorial design and while there have been developed software tools to improve design efficiency there remains “design error”. The aim of this study was to illustrate how simulation studies can inform the designing of DCE's and minimize design error given study size constraints and prior knowledge on preferences. We specified a hypothetical set of attributes and levels for a DCE game as well as an expected linear additive utility function for individuals. We used Monte Carlo simulations - programmed in SAS 9.2 - to examine how different design decisions affected design error given the specified utility function, attributes and levels. Using blocking to increase choice sets minimizes design error. Maximizing the number of respondents may improve estimation but will not markedly improve design error unless used to include more choice sets. Prior knowledge – either theoretical or from prior studies – can be used to deselect choice sets that are implausible or with none or limited informational gain improving design efficiency. Simulations can provide a tool for optimizing design choices. We illustrate how it can supplement software design routines and provide an intuitive understanding of design properties and how it will likely affect the design efficiency to e.g. include more respondents, blocks or questions or use prior knowledge. Simulations are not reality – the “respondents” behave the way they are specified to behave. However, this methodology enables the researcher to isolate effects and we believe that our simulation framework can be a useful tool for practitioners to think systematically about DCE design decisions given actual study characteristics and constraints.

The Mold Design for the Mouse Bottom Cover Based on EMX Software

Injection molding is a major manufacturing method for the fabrication of plastic parts for multi-industrial aspects. The mold design technology experienced the development process of manual draft, 2D CAD design to 3D CAD design. In this paper, the main functions of EMX are introduced firstly. Then the design procedures are presented for molding parts by adopting Mold Cavity functional mould in Pro/E software and the mold base by using EMX software. At last, a mold for the mouse bottom cover is designed using the given method. The result shows that integrated 3D design of mold has significant advantages on reducing labor intensity, improving design efficiency and quality.

Parametric Design of Axial Piston Pump Based on Secondary Development of Pro/Toolkit

A parametric design system of axial piston pump was built, based on secondary development of Pro/Engineer, in Visual C++ 6.0 development environment, which can improve design efficiency.
