Pain assessment and management in patients with dementia in Taiwan: a best practice implementation project.

The lack of a consistent and effective assessment tool for older adults with dementia in home care in Taiwan, and the inability of home care nurses to provide pharmacological and non-pharmacological pain management, may affect the quality of life of patients with dementia. The aim of this project was to promote evidence-based practices for pain assessment and management of patients with dementia living in the community. The project followed the JBI Evidence-based Healthcare Model and the seven-phase JBI Evidence Implementation Framework. Eight audit criteria were used, representing best practice recommendations. Through a Getting Research into Practice (GRiP) analysis, we identified three barriers to changing practice and implemented improvement strategies. A follow-up audit was conducted to measure changes in compliance. This project was conducted in five home care institutions. Fourteen home care nurses and 109 patients with dementia participated in the project. The follow-up audit showed that compliance rates had improved significantly. Specifically, the compliance rate increased from 14.29%, 1.83%, 1.83% to 100% for Criteria 1-3, respectively. For Criteria 4-8, compliance increased from 0% to 100%. In addition, the average score of the home care nurses' perceptions of pain care for patients with dementia increased from 44.29 points before the intervention to 82.86 points, and all 14 home care nurses achieved a score of 100 points in the Objective Structured Clinical Examination scenario-based exercises, which was a good learning outcome. Myosin supramolecular self-assembly: The crucial precursor that manipulates the covalent aggregation, emulsification and rheological properties of myosin

The transformation of molecular conformation and self-assembly properties of myosin during the heating process at different ionic strengths (0.2 M, 0.4 M and 0.6 M NaCl) and its effect on rheological behavior and emulsification properties were investigated. Under incubation temperatures between 40 °C and 50 °C, myosin underwent a supramolecular self-assembly stage dominated by noncovalent forces (hydrogen bonding, ionic bonding and hydrophobic interactions). Higher ionic strength facilitated molecular rearrangement through enhanced swelling of myosin heads and head-to-head assemblies, which contributed to enhanced ordering and homogeneity of myosin covalent aggregates (above 60 °C) and manifested itself macroscopically as enhanced gel viscoelasticity and emulsion stability. In contrast, at lower ionic strength, the tail-to-tail assemblies of myosin led to the preferential formation of covalent cross-links in the tails, which resulted in the inability of molecular rearrangement and the formation of disordered aggregates and finally led to the deterioration of the gel and the destabilization of the emulsion. In conclusion, the supramolecular self-assembly behavior of myosin, as an intermediate process in myosin’s sol–gel transition, is crucial for the orderliness of myosin assemblies, gel network strengthening, and emulsion stability. The obtained insight provides a reference for the precise implementation of quality improvement strategies for meat products.

Fall prevention among adult surgical patients in Tabriz, Iran: a best practice implementation project.

Falling out of bed is the most common unintentional cause of injury among patients and is a major safety problem in health care facilities. Current practices for fall prevention may not always be aligned with established best practices, leading to variability in patient outcomes. This uncertainty underscores the need to assess and improve compliance with best practice guidelines for fall prevention. This project aimed to improve fall prevention in the surgical ward of a general hospital in Tabriz, Iran. This study was guided by the JBI Evidence Implementation Framework. A baseline audit was conducted using eleven audit criteria representing best practices for fall prevention. After the implementation of improvement strategies, a follow-up audit was conducted to evaluate changes in practice. The results revealed significant improvements, notably, fall risk assessment upon admission (87% to 92%), fall risk assessment upon ward transfer (39% to 79%), patient participation in fall risk assessment (26% to 68%), reassessment upon change in condition (53% to 74%), communicating fall prevention information to at-risk patients and their families/caregivers (42% to 63%), engagement of patients (100% to 100%), implementation of targeted strategies (89% to 92%), post-fall assessment and interventions (82% to 87%), revising patient fall risk status and reviewing care management plan (41% to 74%), fall prevention information to patients and their families/caregivers upon discharge (44% to 66%), and person-centered education of health care professionals (77% to 81%). Fall prevention among psychiatric patients in an Iranian hospital: a best practice implementation project.

Falls are the main cause of disability among psychiatric patients, as well as being the most common adverse event in hospitals. The aim of this evidence implementation project was to improve fall prevention and management among psychiatric patients in a neurology ward in an Iranian tertiary psychiatric hospital. This project used the JBI Evidence Implementation Framework, which recommends an audit, feedback, and re-audit strategy. A baseline audit was conducted to evaluate current fall prevention practices among 50 psychiatric patients and 20 health care professionals. The baseline audit was used to identify gaps in compliance. After the implementation of improvement strategies, a follow-up audit was conducted to measure any changes in practice. The baseline and follow-up audits revealed that compliance with best practices improved in ward transfer fall risk assessment (Criterion 2: 87% to 90%), patient participation in fall risk assessment (Criterion 3: 95% to 96%), revising patient fall risk status (Criterion 9: 50% to 86%), and person-centered education of health care providers (Criterion 11: 78% to 96%). Other audit criteria remained unchanged. However, for Criterion 6 on patient engagement in goal-setting and treatment planning, compliance dropped from 100% at baseline to 94% at follow-up. This project successfully increased evidence-based practices regarding fall prevention and management, as well as providing mechanisms for sustaining the practice changes. Prevention of radial artery occlusion after transradial angiography and intervention: a best practice implementation project.

Among the complications associated with transradial artery access, radial artery occlusion (RAO) is the most frequent and serious, limiting the reuse of the same radial artery for subsequent procedures and as a graft for coronary artery bypass grafting. The objective of this project was to implement best practices to reduce the incidence of RAO, thereby enhancing the quality of patient care after transradial coronary angiography or intervention. The project was conducted in cardiology department of the Huadong Hospital, Shanghai, China. The seven-phase JBI Evidence Implementation Framework was used to guide the project. Eight audit criteria were developed and a baseline audit was conducted to compare current practice with best practices for RAO prevention. Following the implementation of improvement strategies, a follow-up audit was conducted to evaluate the success of the strategies. The implementation of best practices led to significant improvements in reducing the sheath/catheter size and systematically assessing radial artery patency before discharge, with both criteria reaching 100% compliance. The use of prophylactic ulnar compression increased from 0% to 90%, and the adoption of a minimal pressure strategy improved from 0% to 70%. The use of pre-puncture and post-procedural pre-hemostasis nitrates also increased from 23% to 93%. Barriers to implementation included the lack of dedicated devices for prophylactic ulnar artery compression, the possibility of bleeding after removal of the compression device, absence of an evidence-based care workflow, and absence of nursing assessment record forms for RAO prevention. This project promoted evidence-based practices among nurses for the care of RAO patients following transradial angiography and intervention. Soundscape Architecture: conceptual proposals for improving the urban soundscape through building in Fort Lauderdale, FL

Architecture students from the University of Florida School of Architecture developing architectural and planning strategies in response to citizen generated initiative to improve the soundscape at multiple locations in Fort Lauderdale Florida. Site analysis including citizen participation in sound walks, personal observations, photo documentation, precedent studies, acoustic measurements, geographical measurements, and municipal code studies was conducted. This information informed conceptual and schematic design proposals for urban architecture (buildings), at critical locations in the urban fabric that seek to provide strategies toward improving the soundscape while supporting high residential density, mixed-use, entertainment, and transit. The work includes 11 student project proposals spanning two academic semesters. The work illustrates integrated design proposals addressing aspects of urban soundscapes such as: vertical distance as effective sound abatement strategy; buildings as acoustic buffers from transit or noisy streets; building envelope systems that both limit sound transmission and absorb sound; sound diffusing buildings; parking or limited occupancy program as buffer spaces; and land development code adoptions that can facilitate future implementation of effective soundscape improvement strategies. This paper will demonstrate the design process, issues of concern, prioritization of issues per specific sites, and show illustrations to visualize a range of soundscape strategies as architecture.

‘Male cystitis does not exist’: A qualitative study of general practitioners’ experiences and management of male urinary tract infections in France

Background Male urinary tract infections (mUTIs) are rare in primary care. The definition of mUTIs varies across countries. The therapeutic management of mUTIs in France is based on a 14-day course of fluoroquinolones despite a high risk of antimicrobial resistance. Objectives The objective of this qualitative study was to explore general practitioners’ (GPs) experiences and behaviours regarding the diagnostic and therapeutic management of mUTIs. Methods GPs were recruited by convenience sampling in Haute Normandie (France) and interviewed individually with semi-structured guides. GPs’ experiences and behaviours were recorded and analysed using an interpretive phenomenological approach. Results From March 2021 to May 2022, 20 GPs were included in the study. Defining a mUTI was perceived as a diagnostic challenge. A diagnosis based on clinical evidence alone was insufficient and complementary tests were required. For GPs: ‘male cystitis does not exist’. A mUTI was considered an unusual disease that could reveal an underlying condition. GPs considered fluoroquinolones to be ‘potent’ antibiotics and treated all patients with the same 14-day course. GPs implemented improvement strategies for antibiotic stewardship and followed the guidelines using a computerised decision support system. Conclusions GPs’ experiences of mUTIs are limited due to low exposure and variable clinical presentations in primary care, representing a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge. In order to modify GPs’ antibiotic prescribing behaviours, a paradigm shift in the guidelines will need to be proposed. KEY MESSAGES Defining a male urinary tract infection represents a diagnostic challenge for GPs. A diagnosis based on clinical evidence alone is insufficient and complementary tests are required. A male urinary tract infection is an unusual disease in primary care and suggests a more serious underlying condition.

Exploring the impact of street play as a powerful pedagogical tool in public health programs

This case study reports on the production, performance and evaluation of a public health street play by MSc Public Health students at York St John University (London Campus) in the United Kingdom. The street play was performed on World AIDS Day 2023. This paper focuses on the dynamic and interactive nature of street play as a pedagogical technique that aligns with constructivist principles, fostering meaningful learning experiences. Increased confidence, engagement and programme commitment were observed in students both in in-person and online sessions following the street play. While recognising these strengths, we discuss the need to address challenges, foster collaborations and implement continuous improvement strategies to make street play even more effective as a teaching method in the public health discipline.

Phyto-parasitic nematodes of bell pepper plant and farm soil in Abua, Rivers State, Nigeria

Bell pepper farming significantly contributes to economic development in Abua. However, phyto-parasitic nematodes are endemic in the area and affect quality of crop yield. Hence, this study was undertaken to investigate the dynamics of occurrence of nematodes in bell pepper roots and soil samples of the farms in Abua. Roots and soil from the root rhizosphere were simultaneously collected at 0-20 cm depth using an improvised soil auger and knife. Modified sieve plate technique was employed for nematode detection and a pictorial key was used for nematode identification at the genera level. An overall nematode abundance of 746 nematodes in the soil around the root region and 216 nematodes in the root tissues of the bell peppers were recorded. Gracilachus species (10.6 %) was more prevalent in the soil, and Meloidogyne species (35.2 %) exhibited the highest population in roots. The study found that Abua's cultivated soil is susceptible to nematode infestation, limiting crop performance. The nematodes showcased root burrowing which is an inherent pattern for survival. The result on root nematodes across the five bell farms surveyed was not significant (p > 0.05). The result opined that farmers in Abua, Rivers State, should understand the role of the soil nematodes and implement soil improvement strategies for improved crop performance and rural economic development.

Self-management in patients with adult spinal deformity: a best practice implementation project.

The prevalence of adult spinal deformity (ASD) has increased in recent years. Patients often have to live for a prolonged period from the onset of the condition, up until the need for surgical treatment. Self-management plays a crucial role in disease progression and prognosis. This project aimed to promote evidence-based practices for the self-management of patients with ASD. This project was guided by the JBI Evidence Implementation Framework project and was conducted in the orthopedic department of a tertiary care hospital in China. A baseline audit was conducted to evaluate current practice against best practice recommendations. Barriers were identified and, after the implementation of improvement strategies, a follow-up audit was conducted to assess project effectiveness. A comparison between the baseline and follow-up audits revealed a significant increase in nurses' compliance with best practices (rising from 0%-64% to 97.7%-100%) in the following areas: improved health promotion behaviors by nurses in self-management of ASD patients; acquisition and application of communication skills with patients; increased availability of educational materials in the ward; and establishment of conservative treatment follow-up instructions for patients. For patients, the Visual Analog Scale of pain decreased from (2.72 ± 1.67) to (1.90 ± 1.14), the Oswestry Disability Index decreased from (49.96 ± 16.49) to (39.83 ± 18.97), self-management behaviors improved from (10.84 ± 4.31) to (19.52 ± 6.31), and maximum isometric muscle strength in the standing position increased from (179.48 ± 91.18)N to (250.03 ± 91.50)N, all with statistically significant improvements (p <0.05). For nurses, the knowledge questionnaire score improved from (34.83 ± 24.16) to (82.00 ± 11.11) (p <0.05). This project helped ASD patients improve self-management, alleviated their clinical symptoms, and improved nurses' knowledge of best practices. Dysphagia screening among stroke patients in a tertiary hospital: a best practice implementation project.

The study aimed to promote nurses' compliance with best practices for dysphagia screening in patients with stroke. Dysphagia can significantly increase the risk of complications, especially aspiration pneumonia, leading to increased risk of disability, death, and high medical expenses. Dysphagia screening can reduce aspiration risk and is recommended as a crucial step in dysphagia management; however, not all patients with stroke undergo dysphagia screening in the neurology ward. The JBI Evidence Implementation Framework was used in this study. A baseline audit was conducted by interviewing 22 nurses and reviewing 48 medical records to evaluate current practice against best practice recommendations. The JBI Getting Research into Practice (GRiP) tool was used to identify barriers and strategies for practice change. A follow-up audit of 19 nurses and 48 medical records was conducted after implementation of improvement strategies. The follow-up audit results showed improvement in three criteria compared with the baseline audit: for Criterion 1, compliance increased by 27.3%, rising from 72.7% to 100%; for Criteria 3 and 4, compliance increased by 77.1%, rising from 20.8% to 97.9%. The difference in nurses' knowledge, attitude, and behavior scores for dysphagia screening between the baseline and follow-up audits was statistically significant (all p < 0.05). The project showed improvements in evidence-based practice in the dysphagia screening of stroke patients in a neurology ward. However, more work needs to be done to ensure the sustainability of best practices, such as regular training for nurses, supervision from managers, and regular audits of dysphagia screening.

IMPROVING INVENTORY MANAGEMENT PRACTICES IN TRANSFORMING THE EFFICIENCY OF HOUSEHOLD EQUIPMENT STORES AT ROYAL MARKET IN SERANG

The purpose of this study is to investigate the inventory management practices utilized in household equipment stores located in Pasar Royal, Serang City, as well as the difficulties that store owners encounter when managing their inventory. This study used qualitative research methods, including conducting in-depth interviews, observing, and analyzing documents from within the store. The findings revealed that the retailers utilized various inventory management practices, ranging from straightforward to more organized approaches. Store owners must contend with several obstacles, including inaccurate demand predictions, supply uncertainty, and a need for more efficient inventory management systems. On the other hand, certain stores have implemented improvement strategies, such as Just-in-Time (JIT) methods and the utilization of inventory management software, which have accomplished the goal of increasing both the overall store performance and the operational efficiency of the store. Promoting safe and appropriate use of miltefosine to treat tegumentary leishmaniasis in Brazil: a best practice implementation project.

Miltefosine is a new drug that was recently approved for the treatment of tegumentary leishmaniasis (TL) by the Brazilian health system. It has a teratogenic potential and requires follow-up of patients undergoing treatment. Improving compliance with best practices is essential to ensure the safe and appropriate use of this drug. This project aimed to implement best practices for the safe and appropriate use of miltefosine in the treatment of TL in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. This project was guided by the JBI Evidence Implementation Framework. Five best practice criteria were established based on the best available evidence. A baseline audit was conducted to measure current practice against best practice. Barriers to best practice were then identified and a follow-up audit was conducted to evaluate changes after the implementation of improvement strategies. Two sites were analyzed: a leishmaniasis reference service in Belo Horizonte, the capital of Minas Gerais, and 28 regional offices. The baseline audit evaluated data from 197 miltefosine requests distributed across 13 regional sites. All requests from the reference service were compliant (100%). This is in contrast to the 60% compliance rate at the regional offices. The improvement strategies included intensifying direct communication with the regional health professionals, which increased the average compliance rate to 79.5%, 6 months after the interventions were introduced. This best practice implementation project effectively increased the compliance rate for the audited procedures. Communication from the reference site with the regional health professionals successfully increased compliance with best practices and promoted the safe and appropriate use of miltefosine. Evaluation of bank efficiency by considering the uncertainty of nonperforming loans

Research of banking operations has recently attracted increasing interest among bank managers and scholars, especially research on the evaluation of bank efficiency. As a prominent factor, nonperforming loans are always considered when measuring bank efficiency. Actually, the complex structures and uncertainty of non-performing loans have been neglected in previous studies. In our study, a new robust two-stage DEA (data envelopment analysis) model is proposed to analyze bank efficiency while considering the structure and uncertainty of nonperforming loans. The proposed model was utilized to assess Chinese commercial banks’ performance. Results indicated traditional model may overestimate banks’ performances, which will mislead bank decision-makers seeking to implement improvement strategies. Moreover, the majority of banks performed better in producing deposits compared with earning profits. Lastly, gaps between small medium banks and state-owned banks are still larger when considering the structure and uncertainty of nonperforming loans. Specific recommendations are proposed for each type of bank.

Exploring the factors affecting cruise passengers’ perceptions of value for money expressed in online reviews

The complexity of cruise tourism is high, and various factors determine the product value. Value for money has an important effect on cruisers’ choices. This paper comprehensively discusses the effect of ship attributes and onboard and onshore experience on cruise passengers’ perception of value for money. This discussion is helpful for cruise companies to identify key attributes and subsequently implement improvement strategies. Taking nearly 100,000 items of tourist review data as samples, this paper primarily discusses the effect of cruisers’ nine-dimensional experience on the perception of value for money and the differences under different market positioning gleaned from content analysis, regression analysis and multi-group comparison. Results show that embarkation, cabin, dining, entertainment, service, fitness, activities, public room and shore excursion experiences have a significant effect on tourists’ perceptions of value for money. From the perspective of brand positioning, the situation of a luxury cruise is quite different from that of a standard and premium cruise, whereas the standard and premium cruise are similar. Furthermore, unlike standard and premium cruises, the physical attributes of luxury cruises such as ship size and launch year have no significant effect on tourists’ perceptions of value for money. Research results will help cruise companies improve tourist satisfaction and value for money based on market positioning and key attributes.

Internal Communication Management Strategy to Increase Office Administration Effectiveness

This research discusses Internal Communication Management Strategies to Increase the Effectiveness of Office Administration at PT Hana Kreasi Utama in Jakarta using a combined qualitative and quantitative approach. Using interview, observation and documentation study methods, this research aims to understand the impact of internal communication strategies on the effectiveness of office administration. Involving all PT Hana Kreasi Utama employees, this research obtained in-depth data and statistics to support the analysis. The research results show that the company implements internal communication strategies such as integrated systems, regular meetings, and technology. This strategy positively impacts interdepartmental efficiency and collaboration, speeds up workflow, and increases employee understanding of company goals. Discussion of the research results links the findings to organizational communication theory, highlighting the importance of factors such as message alignment and employee participation. Key factors supporting success involve message alignment, openness, and employee participation. These findings strengthen the relationship between effective internal communication and administrative performance. Practical implications and recommendations are presented to support companies in improving their internal communications management. Comparison with previous research confirms the consistency of the internal communication strategy findings. Nonetheless, contextual differences need to be taken into account, and the practical implications of previous research can help companies improve strategy implementation. To Assess the Factors Effecting Image Quality in Magnetic Resonance Imaging at 1.5T

Background: Good image quality is essential for accurate diagnosis in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations. This study aimed to investigate how image quality can be improved by implementing improvement strategies on factors that effects the MRI parameters instead of relying solely on conventional techniques. Method: This research employs a Comparative study design to compare the image quality in routine brain Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans at 1.5T before and after implementing image quality improvement strategies. The study involved 37 individuals participant’s data (20 females and 17 males) aged 15-70 years who underwent MRI scans. Participants with any systemic disease, acute trauma, pregnancy and participants with absolute contraindications were excluded from the study. Result: The study found that several factors can effects MRI image quality and can be improved by implementing improvement strategies on these factors by manual adjustments. By identifying factors affecting image quality and evaluating improvement strategies, we seek to optimize MRI protocols and enhance the diagnostic utility of routine brain imaging. For instance, increasing the number of Excitation (NEX) values improved image quality. By increasing the echo time (TE) value a 50% images shows improvement in image quality. The volume of shimming showed better image quality than the other two modes (difficult mode and auto mode). Decreasing the flip angle and voxel size also improved image quality Conclusion: In conclusion, image quality can be improved by implementing improvement strategies on factors that effects the MRI parameters in comparison with the conventional techniques.

This research aims to analyze drug management at the Purwokerto Dadi Keluarga Pharmacy Installation using efficiency indicators and implementing improvement strategies using the Hanlon method. The method used is a descriptive design for 2018 data which is retrospective and concurrent. Data was collected in the form of quantitative and qualitative data from document observations and interviews with relevant IFRS officers. The research results show that the drug management system at RSDK Purwokerto does not meet standards. From the results of this research, it is necessary to carry out a priority analysis of strategic plans for improving drug management using the Hanlon method, the results are in accordance with the priority scale order as follows; Minimize dead stock of medicines by carrying out good medicine planning so that medicines experience transactions. By re-evaluating the selection of drugs with prescriptions outside the National Forum by considering drugs that rarely have cases of disease/rarely used, re-evaluating at the selection stage, for the quantity needed and type of drug procurement, carrying out drug planning ( RKO) in the management information system, coordinating to avoid polypharmacy, proposing an increase in the drug procurement budget to the drug procurement section, proposing an increase in drug budget costs to the hospital. Original Research: Exploring Medication Safety Practices from the Nurse's Perspective.

Medication preparation and administration are complex tasks that nurses must perform daily within today's complicated health care environment. Despite more than two decades of efforts to reduce medication errors, it's well known that such errors remain prevalent. Obtaining insight from direct care nurses may clarify where opportunities for improvement exist and guide future efforts to do so. The study purpose was to explore direct care nurses' perspectives on and experiences with medication safety practices and errors. A qualitative descriptive study was conducted among direct care nurses employed across a large health care system. Data were collected using semistructured interview questions with participants in focus groups and one-on-one meetings and were analyzed using qualitative direct content analysis. A total of 21 direct care nurses participated. Four major themes emerged that impact the medication safety practices of and errors by nurses: the care environment, nurse competency, system influences, and the error paradigm. These themes were often interrelated. Most participants depicted chaotic environments, heavy nursing workloads, and distractions and interruptions as increasing the risk of medication errors. Many seemed unsure about what an error was or could be. The complexity of medication safety practices makes it difficult to implement improvement strategies. Understanding the perspectives and experiences of direct care nurses is imperative to implementing such strategies effectively. Based on the study findings, potential solutions should include actively addressing environmental barriers to safe medication practices, ensuring more robust medication management education and training (including guidance regarding the definition of medication errors and the importance of reporting), and revising policies and procedures with input from direct care nurses.

Nationwide Improvement of IPC Practices in Honduran Hospitals: a Baseline Assessment

Abstract Background Healthcare-acquired infections (HAIs) are one of the most common adverse events related to the provision of healthcare services. They constitute a significant public health problem and lead to increased morbidity and mortality, costs, and prolonged hospitalization. Essential to reducing HAIs is creating a safety culture where no infection is perceived as acceptable by the healthcare worker. Critical to prioritizing actions and implementing improvement strategies is the development of a baseline situation analysis. The World Health Organization′s IPC and Hand Hygiene assessment frameworks allow hospitals to gain understanding regarding resources and practices. Methods A survey was conducted between June 2021 and May 2022 using the World Health Organization′s Frameworks for IPC and Hand Hygiene. The IPC framework evaluates eight core components, and the hand hygiene self-assessment evaluates five. With technical assistance from the Health Policy Plus Project and the National Panamerican Health Organization, the Honduran MoH conducted the assessment in 20 public hospitals. The hospitaĹs staff involved in IPC activities attended the virtual meetings. The results were categorized into four levels of IPC promotion and practices. The results supported the identification of strengths and weaknesses that were essential to the development of improvement plans. Results Twenty of 32 (62.5%) hospitals of the Honduran MoH were evaluated, covering 75% of the health regions. Evaluation of Hand Hygiene Programs Hospitals obtained an overall median result of 353/500 points (IQR: 259-382). Ten (50%) were in the Intermediate category, 6 (30%) in the Advanced category, 3 (15%) in basic category and 1 (5%) was inadequate. After a close evaluation of each component, Component 5 Institutional safety climate for Hand Hygiene (median: 55/100) had the lowest score, followed by component 3 - Evaluation and feedback (median: 65/100). Higher scores were obtained for component 1 System Change (median: 80/100). Evaluation of Infection Prevention and Control Programs at the facility level The median score was 567/800 points, (IQR: 448-630). Eleven (55%) hospitals were in the Intermediate category, and 7 (35%) in the Advanced category. After a close evaluation, Core Component 7, Workload, staffing and bed occupancy (median: 40/100) had the lowest score, followed by Core Component 3: Education and training IPC (median: 65/100). Higher scores were obtained for Core Component 5: Multimodal strategies for implementation of infection prevention and control interventions (median: 82/100) and Core Component 6: Monitoring/auditing of IPC practices and feedback (median: 81/100). Only 3 (15%) hospitals reported having staff dedicated exclusively to IPC activities (1 per &amp;lt;250 beds). Only 10 (50%) hospitals reported having trained professionals responsible for surveillance activities (basic epidemiology, surveillance, and IPC). Table 1: Infection Prevention and Control Assessment Framework Results Conclusions This is the first IPC nationwide assessment conducted in hospitals in Honduras. Results prove that IPC promotion and practices require improvement. Baseline results allow us to understand the IPC situation to promote data-driven decision-making to improve and foster a safety culture in Honduran hospitals.
