OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY PRACTICES IN THE WORKPLACE DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC: A LITERATURE REVIEW

Background: The Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, which has impacted the world of work, has necessitated work organizations to prevent transmission and enhance workers’ performance. Purpose: To find out the implementation of occupational health and safety management during the COVID-19 pandemic across various corporate sectors. Review: It was conducted by answering research questions related to the management of safety and health practices in the workplace during the COVID-19 pandemic. The process involved formulating problem questions based on the PICOS framework. After filtering and adjusting the research variables, 21 articles were analyzed, consisting 12 articles from the ProQuest database and 9 articles from the ScienceDirect database. Result: Various innovations have been made by companies so that the implementation of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management, especially health protocols in dealing with COVID-19, can run optimally. Among them is an increasing number of training sessions for workers on health protocols and awareness, redesigning workplaces according to standards, using smart technology to detect social distancing violations, and improving dialogic communication. Such improvements have been proven to increase communal relations between workers and management, thereby increasing active worker participation in establishing a safe working culture within the workplace. Conclusion: The OHS management implemented by the company may change based on workplace COVID-19 prevention regulations.

Gambaran Perilaku Perawat Dalam Penerapan Kesehatan Dan Keselamatan Kerja

Occupational Health and Safety is a concept of systematic and comprehensive K3 management in a complete management system through the process of planning, implementing, measuring, and supervising. The purpose of K3 related to machinery, equipment, workplace foundations and workplace environment is to prevent accidents and illnesses due to work, provide protection to production sources so that they can increase efficiency and productivity. The purpose of the study is to identify the description of nurse behavior in the implementation of occupational health and safety. The research design used was a descriptive survey, with a total sample of 55 respondents. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling of 55 people. The results of this study were for the highest knowledge with the adequate category of 31 respondents with a percentage (56.4), and for the highest attitude with the sufficient category of 28 respondents with a percentage (50.9), and for the highest action with a sufficient category of 32 respondents with a percentage (58.2), and for the implementation of the highest K3 with a sufficient category of 37 respondents with a percentage (67.3).

The Implementation of Occupational Health and Safety Using Zerosicks in Indonesia Vocational Education

This study aims to determine (1) the implementation of occupational health and safety (OHS) using the Zerosicks method in vocational education and (2) the significant relationship between each aspect of the countenance stake evaluation model. The model consists of 3 stages: input (Antecedent), process (Transaction), and output. Then, the population in this study involved 727 students with a sample size of 258.03, and this research was conducted in April-June 2021 at the Prambanan Muhammadiyah Vocational High School. Furthermore, the data analysis techniques used were quantitative descriptive and SEM (Structural Equation Modeling). The study findings reveal that (1) the antecedent stage, encompassing environment, hazard, risk, knowledge, and standardization indicators, is evaluated as excellent by teachers and predominantly good by students. In the Transaction stage, focusing on risk management control, solution, implementation, and culture indicators, teachers rate it as good to perfect, while students generally rate it as very good to good. Moreover, the output stage, comprising control and OHS behavior awareness indicators, is deemed outstanding by both teachers and students. (2) The indicators of the model are valid and achievable following the results of the confirmatory factor analysis, and the structure of the theoretical model fulfils the Goodness of Fit criteria for empirical data because it has six criteria. Furthermore, an antecedent has a significant effect on Transaction and OHS Output, while a Transaction has a significant effect on OHS Output.

Female workers at the shrimp peeling factory work in a cold room and are given the implementation of occupational health and safety (K3), which is an effort made to protect workers who are good and healthy against risks that may arise as a result of work. When working at the shrimp peeling factory, you are always required to use personal protective equipment (PPE). Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is the main concern of K3 equipment which is used to protect all or part of the body when working. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is very important for women's protection in the short and long term. Some of the personal protective equipment used by female workers in shrimp peeling factories are masks, hair caps, aprons, boots and latex gloves. Usually these latex gloves are rarely used by workers because they are slippery, hinder the speed of work, and are uncomfortable because of the water. getting into gloves means that wearing gloves is often neglected and some female workers experience irritation on the skin of their palms. The aim of this research is to determine the habits of female workers' use of personal protective equipment and the consequences of frequently neglecting to wear personal protective equipment. Research Methods carried out a correlational analysis method with a cross-sectional approach with a sample size of 20 respondents. In conclusion, female workers are always provided with protective equipment to work in peeling and cleaning shrimp, but because the work system is piecework, workers choose fast work because they feel they are experienced and professional enough, they rarely use gloves because they are slippery and uncomfortable. This is what causes some workers to experience irritation on the skin of their palms.

This research employs a rigorous methodology involving questionnaire distribution and interviews, complemented by advanced analytical tools such as the Frequency Adjusted Importance Index (FAII) and Bow Tie Analysis. The study focuses on the Indonesian Development University’s high-rise building project, systematically assessing potential hazards associated with formwork activities. Furthermore, this research evaluates the inherent risk levels and proposes comprehensive control measures to mitigate these hazards effectively. By shedding light on the intricate interplay between safety management and high-rise construction, this study contributes to the enhancement of occupational safety and health practices in the construction industry, ultimately promoting safer and more efficient work environments.

The role of an IT support specialist encompasses expertise in network analysis, system administration, information security and assurance, IT audits, database administration, and web administration. The overarching objective is to cultivate a professionally adept and competitive specialist, whose attributes are shaped not only by professional aptitude but also by their personal lifestyle. Pursuing a career in IT necessitates adherence to several criteria, including possessing relevant education, intellectual acumen, teamwork capabilities, self-educational proficiency, a commitment to skill enhancement, and the ability to work autonomously. It is evident that the significance of this industry is growing each year. It is crucial to highlight that, without the implementation of occupational health and safety regulations, there is a substantial risk of a considerable decline in health protection, potentially leading to irreversible impacts on the overall functioning of the body. Adopting a healthy lif estyle involves establishing a self-designed system that safeguards an individual from risks encountered in an active life. To address this, we have developed a sequence of exercises aimed at providing psychological and physical relief for IT workers. The objective is to safeguard the health of employees in this category, incorporating exercises such as tapping biologically active zones, "Crane wings," and "Snake rings." The experimentally verified complex of measures designed for mental and physical relief for IT workers has demonstrated its effectiveness. Additionally, the execution of the exercise routine results in the alignment of morning and evening indicators, indicating an overall improvement in well-being and stable psycho-emotional state. The acquired results highlight a considerable decrease in fatigue indicators and the normalization of mood after completing the exercise routine.

Analysis of occupational health and safety management system internal audit implementation based on SMK3 PP No. 50, 2012 (Study at Pasuruan Concrete Industry, Indonesia)

Technological updates impact the risk of new hazards that can cause accidents and occupational diseases. The risk of hazards in the workplace is controlled through control efforts and the commitment of industries and workers to implementing the Occupational Health and Safety Management System. Indonesian manufacturing industries in implementing Occupational Health and Safety Management System are guided by SMK3 PP No. 50, 2012. Internal audit includes the fourth principle of occupational health and safety management system, namely monitoring and evaluating Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) performance. This research is descriptive research that aims to describe and analyze the application of occupational health and safety management system based on SMK3 PP No. 50, 2012 at Pasuruan Concrete Industry, Indonesia. Information sources are obtained from in-depth interviews, filling out document study checklist sheets, and field observations. The method to obtain in-depth interview informants through purposive sampling, with research informants is the party who has the authority and knowledge regarding the implementation of Occupational Health and Safety Management System in the Pasuruan Concrete Industry, Indonesia. Of the total 166 elements required by SMK3 PP No. 50, 2012, the company managed to fulfill as many as 160 elements, or 96%, with the category 'Satisfactory'. Overall, the company implements occupational health and safety management system progressively and sustainably, as evidenced by the increase in achieving the conformity of occupational health and safety management system audit internal elements and the guarantee of worker safety and health starting from management support, OHS programs, and the availability of adequate facilities and infrastructure.

Hubungan Kemampuan Adaptasi Kerja dengan Penerapan Kesehatan dan Keselamatan Kerja Perawat

The Hospital occupational health and safety programs’ objectives to guarantee and protecting the nurses’ health and safety. However, nurses need to adapt regarding the working conditions to implement the nursing service optimally. This study aims to identify the relationship between the nurses' working adaptability and the implementation of occupational health and safety among associate nurses. This study was a quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design. The sampling technique employed in this study was purposive sampling with a sample size of 103 associate nurses choosen by using inclusion and exclusion criteria. The instruments employed to measure adaptability and application of occupational health and safety was questionnaires that has been tested for validity and reliability. This study has been ethically approved through ethical clearance number 070/5630/RSUDW. The data analyzed employed in this study was Rank Spearman Correlation test. The study results found that the majority of nurses showed have a good working adaptability (86 peoples;83,5%), the occupational health and safety implementation (88 peoples, 85,4%) by p-value = 0.000; r = 0.780 which means there is a significant relationship between the nurses' working adaptability and the implementation of occupational health and safety with a strong positive relationship. Nurses are expected to implement occupational health and safety optimally in order to improve the quality of nursing care services delivered to patients.

Human resources are an investment for companies to increase productivity, because this era of globalization is accompanied by tight, heavy and fast competition, so all aspects require accurate calculations. The research method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive research method. Based on observations made in the finishing area-1, it is necessary to evaluate or formulate a policy for implementing occupational safety and health in the finishing area-1. Because there are still some employees and work partners who ignore occupational safety and health in the work environment. PT. Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper has implemented occupational health and safety protection for employees and work partners in the company, but there are several employees and work partners who experience work accidents while doing work which is caused by several factors, namely environmental factors and human factors. The most important factor is the human factor, there is an element of negligence on the part of the workers themselves because they do not heed instructions from the boss/employer in the employee sector and their work partners. Implementation of occupational health and safety protection for PT finishing area-1 workers. Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Perawang has done quite well, by implementing programs such as working environment conditions, identifying hazards, knowing potential hazards, implementing a work safety system and preparing K3 Implementation Facilities and Infrastructure.

Turetality (Safety Culture Hospitality) Application Model as an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Culture Media in Hotels in Yogyakarta

The tourism industry sector significantly impacts the national foreign exchange income. Indonesia boasts numerous tourist destinations, among which Yogyakarta stands out. This indeed affects the accommodation facilities for tourists, with hotels being a prominent example. One of the measures taken to enhance these accommodations involves the improvement of hotel services. This enhancement encompasses aspects such as ensuring the safety and well-being of both hotel visitors and staff. Notably, there are still instances where certain hotels exhibit shortcomings in the implementation of occupational health and safety (OHS) culture. The objective of this research is to analyze the requisite needs and develop a prototype application called Turetality (Safety Culture Hospitality), compatible with both Android and iOS platforms. This study employs a quantitative descriptive research methodology. The findings from this research indicate the necessity for both a reporting system for identified issues and a periodic monitoring mechanism, as there exists potential jeopardy to both health and safety. This application offers a resolution to prevalent issues such as delayed manual reporting and instances of unrecorded reporting. The interface and content of the application are tailored to meet the OHS requirements within the hotel industry. In conclusion, the prototype application Turetality stands to be well-received by users due to its capacity of being able to provide ease of use and secure handling of OHS reporting data within the hotel industry.

Kegiatan Sosialisasi Keselamatan Dan Kesehatan Kerja Pada Tambang Batu Gamping di PT. Diamond Alfa Propertindo Kabupaten Buton Tengah

PT. Diamond Alfa Propertindo is a company that produces gravel stones ranging from 0.5 cm to 3 cm in size, located in Southeast Sulawesi, with a land area of 4,905 hectares. PT. Diamond Alfa Propertindo has a production target of 25,000 tons per month, with an average production of 22,000 tons per month. The company employs open-pit mining using the Quarry method, with mining locations divided into blocks A1, A2, A3, currently in the mining phase. The extraction of limestone involves drilling and blasting activities to meet production targets, posing high risks of workplace accidents, occupational diseases, fires, explosions, landslides, and environmental pollution. These risks arise from workers' non-compliance with safety regulations, unsafe working conditions, inadequate facilities and infrastructure, or poor management, as well as unsafe environmental conditions. The implementation of Occupational Health and Safety (K3) is the responsibility of every mining employee, from the highest leadership level to field executives or operators. This is conveyed through a combination of methods such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations. The community service activities aim to ensure that the limestone mining activities of PT. Diamond Alfa Propertindo in Buton Tengah are carried out with an understanding of the importance of occupational health and safety in creating a comfortable and safe working environment for mining workers.

Penerapan Sistem Manajemen Keselamatan Dan Kesehatan Kerja Di RSUD Kota Makassar

The workplace is where tasks are carried out to produce goods and services. The implementation of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) programs in a company can support the improvement of workforce productivity, thereby yielding benefits automatically. The research population consisted of 737 individuals, namely all employees registered as hospital staff, while the research sample consisted of 10 individuals who have authority in implementing the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) at the Hospital in Makassar City. The research was conducted using qualitative survey methods through purposive sampling. Data were collected through interviews and direct observations. The results of this research examined commitments and policies, planning, organizing, and implementing OHS at the Hospital in Makassar City. Commitments and policies from leadership regarding OHS implementation already exist and are documented, but they have not been effectively socialized to all elements in the hospital. OHS planning at the Hospital in Makassar City has been conducted before program formulation, including data collection and priority setting. Organizing is done by forming the PK3RS organization. OHS implementation is carried out in the form of training, socialization, and provision of personal protective equipment, but still in very minimal quantities. Evaluation and review have not been carried out because the implementation of OHS at the Hospital in Makassar City has only been running for about 6 months. Recommendations for management include strengthening commitments to improve PK3RS performance, ensuring the provision of qualified PK3RS personnel, and communicating OHS to all levels of management, employees, patients, and hospital visitors.

The Implementation of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) in Machining Practical Learning (MPL)

Occupational Safety and Health (K3) is essential in machining engineering lessons at vocational schools because students often carry out practices involving many complex and sharp objects. This research aims to analyze occupational safety and health implementation in machining practical learning. This research uses an ex-post facto quantitative approach—research subjects in class XI machining engineering in four vocational schools with a sample of 172 people. Data collection uses surveys, observations, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The data analysis technique in this research is regression analysis. The findings show first, there is a significant influence between the application of K3 on learning machining practices. Second, the analysis results of the impact of the application of K3 on learning machining practices are in the weak category. Third, the results of the synthesis and evaluation show that there are four reasons or factors that influence the inadequate implementation of K3 in learning machining practices, including the lack of student knowledge about K3, the lack of school facilities related to K3, the lack of student perception regarding the importance of K3, and the lack of student behavior regarding K3 (motivation, discipline, honesty). This research concludes that applying K3 in learning machining practices is the task of stakeholders and every individual because health and safety at work are some of the supporting aspects towards success.

Grounded theory-based analysis of occupational health and safety management modes in supply chain by core enterprises ——evidence from China

The implementation of occupational health and safety management in the supply chain by core enterprises is a significant step towards improving the working conditions of their suppliers. To guide core enterprises to adopt active and effective management modes, it is crucial to identify the characteristics of different management modes and classify them accordingly. This paper employs the grounded theory method to conduct an in-depth analysis of occupational health and safety management modes within the supply chain of core enterprises. This research mainly adopts semi-structured interview method. A total of 16 person-times are interviewed, and 210,000 words of in-depth interview scripts are obtained. After three coding process of the grounded theory，the evolution model of occupational health and safety management modes in supply chain by core enterprises was established. The research results indicate that core enterprises currently employ three modes of occupational health and safety management for their suppliers: defensive mode, passive mode, and strategic mode. Different modes have distinct characteristics in four dimensions of cognition, motivation, strategy and result. This research may provide strategic guidelines for core enterprises to evolve from the defensive mode to the strategic mode.

Occupational health and safety are things that cannot be separated from carrying out work, occupational health and safety are very important factors to pay attention because someone who is working is not in good health or has an accident which will have an impact on themselves, their family, and the company where they work. To handle and overcome the dangers that exist in the workplace, it is necessary to implement an occupational health and safety management system in accordance with Republic of Indonesia Government Regulation No. 50 of 2012 concerning the Implementation of Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems. This research aims to determine the implementation of OH&S Management System at PT Air Liquide Indonesia – Plant Cilegon. This research is a type of qualitative research that uses the case study method. The method for collecting data is by using measuring instruments in the form of interview guides and observation sheets. There is 5 informants for this research. Data processing and analysis through transcription, sorting, classification, and content analysis processes. The research results show that PT Air Liquide Indonesia – Plant Cilegon has an OH&S policy in the form of 12 life saving rules. K3 planning is prepared based on identifying potential hazards using Job Safety Environment Analysis (JSEA). The implementation of the K3 plan is carried out by all parties under the responsibility of the HSE department. K3 monitoring and evaluation is carried out by Safety Flash and internal audits once a year. The review is carried out with related parties once a year and improving SMK3 performance focuses on what is lacking.

A Systematic Review of Social Marketing Interventions Promoting Occupational Health and Safety

Background Unintentional and preventable workplace injuries are a common occurrence across employment contexts. Campaign and intervention initiatives are often implemented to promote health and safety in the workplace. However, to date, scarce research has reviewed the manner in which social marketing principles have been used to inform these efforts. Focus of Article The current review seeks to address this gap by completing a systematic review of occupational health and safety interventions that utilize social marketing approaches. Research Question This review sought to identify key trends and characteristics across occupational health and safety social marketing efforts such as what topics, theories, and design characteristics are most often used to inform these initiatives. The review also sought to determine how effective social marketing tactics were in promoting behavior change. Method In total, 4,354 article titles and abstracts were reviewed across four databases. Ultimately, 11 articles reviewed met the set inclusion criteria, were reviewed, and subsequently analyzed. Results Results indicated that social marketing interventions typically addressed behaviors related to construction safety, agricultural safety, and safety within healthcare environments. While little continuity existed among information dissemination approaches specified, it was clear that many interventions used some form of traditional media (e.g., print, radio, etc.) as a mainstay of their approach. Further, most were effective in promoting behavior change. Importance to the Social Marketing Field While this review identified vital information relating to the development and implementation of occupational health and safety initiatives, clear gaps exist in how key campaign elements, messaging approaches, and strategies are documented in the literature. Recommendations for Research and Practice Practitioners can and should use information identified from this review to guide the development of social marketing interventions. Further, this work also provides important guidance on best practices for documenting features and outcomes of future social marketing efforts.

This type of research is an analytic survey with a cross design approach. This research will be conducted in the production department of PT. Sumber Graha Sejahtera Luwu Year 2022 Which was carried out in July-August at PT. Sumber Graha Sejahtera Luwu Year 2022, The sample in this study were 124 employees of PT Sumber Graha Sejahtera Luwu. The results of the study showed that There is no relationship between tenure and the application of Occupational Health and Safety to workers at PT Sumber Graha Sejahtera Luwu.
