Evaluation of the Effect of Smart Pump Interoperability on Infusion Errors in the Pediatric Hospital Setting.

Smart pump interoperability is a newer technology integrating intravenous medication -infusion instructions from the electronic medical record into a smart pump. This technology has demonstrated significantly decreased medication errors in the adult population; however, this has not been reported in pediatrics. The purpose of this study was to compare the frequency and severity of infusion related errors before and after the implementation of smart pump interoperability at a pediatric institution. This was a retrospective study conducted at multiple institutions within the same health care system to assess the effect of smart pump interoperability on infusion errors. Data were retrospectively analyzed for a 6-month period prior to (January-June 2020) and after (January-June 2022) smart pump interoperability implementation. All who received medications via a smart pump were included in the analysis. Infusions were excluded if administered via a patient-controlled analgesia pump, epidural pump, or intravenously pushed without using a smart pump. A total of 143,997 versus 165,343 infusions were administered in the before versus after interoperability group. There were significant decreases in mild, moderate, and severe harm averted events once interoperability was implemented (p < 0.001). Errors caught before administration decreased after interoperability implementation from 197 events to 20 events because of fewer overall errors (p < 0.001). The number of guardrail alert overrides was significantly reduced, from 23,751 to 5885 (p < 0.001), as was the number of high-risk overrides, from 5851 to 207 (p < 0.001). Implementing smart pump interoperability significantly reduced the frequency and severity of infusion errors and high-risk overrides at a pediatric institution.

Analisa Penerapan Interoperabilitas, Transparansi Informasi, Bantuan Teknis dan Pengambilan Keputusan terhadap Peningkatan Kualitas SDM yang Berorientasi ke Industrialisasi 4.0 Pada UMKM

This research aims to determine the quality of human resources by using supporting variables such as the role of interoperability, information transparency, technical assistance and decision making. Current developments certainly require higher quality human resources to support better industrial sectors. With the help of supporting technology, sufficient information, technical assistance provided and appropriate decision making, it is hoped that it will be able to become a supporting factor in improving the quality of human resources. This research is a type of research using design. The research method used is a quantitative approach with associative methods. The Associative Method aims to determine the influence or relationship between two or more variables. The type of data used is primary data obtained using questionnaire techniques, interviews, observations and in-depth interviews. The sampling technique is probability sampling. With data analysis SPSS is used for quantitative data, the data analysis steps used in this research are validity and reliability analysis, descriptive analysis, multiple linear regression analysis, classical assumption test, coefficient of determination test and hypothesis testing. The results of the research show that the variables Implementation of Interoperability, Information Transparency, Technical Assistance, and Decision Making together show a positive and significant influence on the HR Quality Improvement variable.

Using Interoperability between Mobile Robot and KNX Technology for Occupancy Monitoring in Smart Home Care.

It is important for older and disabled people who live alone to be able to cope with the daily challenges of living at home. In order to support independent living, the Smart Home Care (SHC) concept offers the possibility of providing comfortable control of operational and technical functions using a mobile robot for operating and assisting activities to support independent living for elderly and disabled people. This article presents a unique proposal for the implementation of interoperability between a mobile robot and KNX technology in a home environment within SHC automation to determine the presence of people and occupancy of occupied spaces in SHC using measured operational and technical variables (to determine the quality of the indoor environment), such as temperature, relative humidity, light intensity, and CO2 concentration, and to locate occupancy in SHC spaces using magnetic contacts monitoring the opening/closing of windows and doors by indirectly monitoring occupancy without the use of cameras. In this article, a novel method using nonlinear autoregressive Neural Networks (NN) with exogenous inputs and nonlinear autoregressive is used to predict the CO2 concentration waveform to transmit the information from KNX technology to mobile robots for monitoring and determining the occupancy of people in SHC with better than 98% accuracy.

An interoperable implementation of collective-variable based enhanced sampling methods in extended phase space within the OpenMM package.

Collective variable (CV)-based enhanced sampling techniques are widely used today for accelerating barrier-crossing events in molecular simulations. A class of these methods, which includes temperature accelerated molecular dynamics (TAMD)/driven-adiabatic free energy dynamics (d-AFED), unified free energy dynamics (UFED), and temperature accelerated sliced sampling (TASS), uses an extended variable formalism to achieve quick exploration of conformational space. These techniques are powerful, as they enhance the sampling of a large number of CVs simultaneously compared to other techniques. Extended variables are kept at a much higher temperature than the physical temperature by ensuring adiabatic separation between the extended and physical subsystems and employing rigorous thermostatting. In this work, we present a computational platform to perform extended phase space enhanced sampling simulations using the open-source molecular dynamics engine OpenMM. The implementation allows users to have interoperability of sampling techniques, as well as employ state-of-the-art thermostats and multiple time-stepping. This work also presents protocols for determining the critical parameters and procedures for reconstructing high-dimensional free energy surfaces. As a demonstration, we present simulation results on the high dimensional conformational landscapes of the alanine tripeptide in vacuo, tetra-N-methylglycine (tetra-sarcosine) peptoid in implicit solvent, and the Trp-cage mini protein in explicit water.

Perspectives on Challenges and Opportunities for Interoperability: Findings From Key Informant Interviews With Stakeholders in Ohio.

Interoperability-the exchange and integration of data across the health care system-remains a challenge despite ongoing policy efforts aimed at promoting interoperability. This study aimed to identify current challenges and opportunities to advancing interoperability across stakeholders. Primary data were collected through qualitative, semistructured interviews with stakeholders (n=24) in Ohio from July to October 2021. Interviewees were sampled using a stratified purposive sample of key informants from 4 representative groups as follows: acute care and children's hospital leaders, primary care providers, behavioral health providers, and regional health information exchange networks. Interviews focused on key informant perspectives on electronic health record implementation, the alignment of public policy with organizational strategy, interoperability implementation challenges, and opportunities for health information technology. The interviews were transcribed verbatim followed by rigorous qualitative analysis using directed content analysis. The findings illuminate themes related to challenges and opportunities for interoperability that align with technological (ie, implementation challenges, mismatches in interoperability capabilities across stakeholders, and opportunities to leverage new technology and integrate social determinants of health data), organizational (ie, facilitators of interoperability and strategic alignment of participation in value-based payment programs with interoperability), and environmental (ie, policy) domains. Interoperability, although technically feasible for most providers, remains challenging for technological, organizational, and environmental reasons. Our findings suggest that the incorporation of end user considerations into health information technology development, implementation, policy, and standard deployment may support interoperability advancement.

Regulation under administrative guidance: The case of China's forcing interoperability on digital platforms

Whether policy-makers should mandate that various digital platforms be made interoperable with others and how to achieve it has sparked much controversy, while there is less discussion on the implementation and effectiveness of interoperability on digital platforms in specific contexts and given settings. This article examines the practice and outcome of Chinese policy-makers and regulators in promoting interoperability on digital platforms in the field of social media and mobile payment scenarios. China's practice shows that mandatory interoperability of platforms brings very limited convenience to consumers, and it hardly facilitates entry of small operators but rather facilitates expansion of other competitive platforms. The interoperability promoted by administrative forces unfairly provides a competitive advantage to state-owned enterprises and reduces the willingness of existing platforms to innovate and expand. These results corroborate international criticisms and concerns about mandatory interoperability, reflecting the very limited effect of mandatory interoperability on cracking the network blocking effect of internet platforms.

Architecture design and prototype system development: Blockchain-driven D&A Interoperability implementation based on AAS-Work-Centre

DT and AAS are two important technical means to connect the manufacturing physical world and information space. Based on the technical vision of realizing D&A (DT&AAS) automatic configuration, standard implementation and trusted interoperability process, this paper takes AAS as the work center, and integrates and designs a blockchain-driven D&A interoperability implementation architecture in the I4.0 workshop. (1) D&A interoperability dimension and function design adopts the unified standard framework RAMI4.0; (2) D&A information architecture design introduces the open-source BC the Tangle cross-chain interoperability framework; (3) D&A data interaction design based on Automation ML server framework; (4) The I4.0 workshop implementation framework takes AAS as the work center. Based on the above conceptual framework, an experimental case is designed and developed.

Integrating geological data in Europe to foster multidisciplinary research

The European Plate Observing System (EPOS, www.epos-eu.org) is a multidisciplinary pan-European research infrastructure for solid Earth science. It integrates a series of domain-specific service hubs (Thematic Core Service, TCS) such as the Geological Information and Modelling, which provides access to data, data products and services on European boreholes, geological maps, mineral occurrences, mines and 3D models. TCS GIM services are hosted by a group of European Geological Surveys and a couple of national research organizations. This paper presents novel data discovery and integration, facilitated using borehole logging information with on-demand web services to produce 3D geological structures. This domain interoperability across EPOS was created for the purpose of research, but it is also highly relevant for the response to societal grand challenges such as natural hazards and climate change. European and international interoperability implementation frameworks are well described and used (e.g., INSPIRE, ISO, OGC, and IUGS/CGI). It can be difficult for data providers to deploy web services that support the full semantic data definition (e.g., OGC Complex Feature) to expose several millions of geological entities through web-enabled data portals as required by pan-European projects. The TCS GIM group implemented and innovatively extended two standardized descriptions, i.e. GeoSciML-Lite and EarthResourceML-Lite, with an important reuse of content from Linked Data Registries. This approach was applied to design and implement the European Borehole Index and associated web services (View-WMS and Discovery-WFS), extended to 3D models, geological maps as well as mineral occurrences and mines. Results presented here apply the Linked Data approach ensuring optimal semantic description and enriching the data graphs, with complex descriptions and contents. In this way, it is now possible to traverse from one Borehole Index instance to linked richer information such as the borehole geological log, groundwater levels, rock sample description, analyses, etc. All this detailed information is served following international interoperability standards (Observations &amp; Measurements, GroundWaterML 2.0, GeoSciML4, amongst others).

In the situation of transition from information and control systems to a net-centric architecture and development of net-centric system (NCS), the relevance of interoperability assurance in such systems is increasing. The study of ensuring data compatibility and portability in the implementation of technical interoperability of NCS, taking into account the data lifecycle, is carried out in the paper. Recommendations on ensuring compatibility and portability of data at the stages of formation, transmission, storage, processing and presentation of data in NCS are proposed in this paper.

Fulfilment of the Essential Requirements of the Control-command and Signalling Trackside Subsystem on the Railway Infrastructure of Transhipment Terminals

The implementation of many railway investments indicates as the main goal increasing the efficiency of the railway system, and thanks to its features it becomes easier to integrate it in the competitive transport market. Increasing the integration of the transport sector is one of the cornerstones of the completion of the internal market and rail is an important part of the transport sector moving towards sustainable mobility. The modernized railway lines, which are part of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) or European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) corridors, also constitute the network of rail freight corridors (RFC). Pursuant to the requirements of European law, setting the dates for implementing interoperability, the infrastructure of comprehensive networks will be forced to adapt to these requirements. Using the example of the control-command and signalling subsystem, this article outlines the scale of the problem related to the implementation of interoperability in relation to rail-road terminals constituting the comprehensive network of the RFC network. Regulation of IUUF Overcoming in The Form of Interoperability through Control Center of Task Force 115

Abstract- As a maritime country with a sustainable potency of fish resources which is estimated 9.9 million tons a year, Indonesia becomes the source of illegal, unreported, unregulated fishing (IUUF). IUUF is prohibited in Indonesia because it contradicts provisions in United Nations Convention on The Law of the Sea of 1982, Indonesian Law Number 45 of 2009, and Indonesian Law Number 32 of 2014. But, during this time, IUUF overcoming is hampered by sectoral egos between domestic institutions in exchanging data and information about IUUF. Thus, solution for exchange of data and information can be built through an institution, that is the Control Center of Task Force 115 which has function to organize interoperability, with establish a platform that can accommodate facilities different between domestic institutions into an integrated data and information center. Then, the implementation of interoperability is outlined in a regulation through reconstruction of Ministerial Regulation Number 37/PERMEN-KP/2017. This solution need to be done in order to there is not overlapping authority between domestic institutions and ineffectiveness of the Control Center of Task Force 115 function as the organizer of exchanging surveillance data or information about the actor of IUUF that will or have entered Indonesian Sea.

Toward Data-Driven Radiation Oncology Using Standardized Terminology as a Starting Point: Cross-sectional Study

BackgroundThe inability to seamlessly exchange information across radiation therapy ecosystems is a limiting factor in the pursuit of data-driven clinical practice. The implementation of semantic interoperability is a prerequisite for achieving the full capacity of the latest developments in personalized and precision medicine, such as mathematical modeling, advanced algorithmic information processing, and artificial intelligence approaches.ObjectiveThis study aims to evaluate the state of terminology resources (TRs) dedicated to radiation oncology as a prerequisite for an oncology semantic ecosystem. The goal of this cross-sectional analysis is to quantify the state of the art in radiation therapy specific terminology.MethodsThe Unified Medical Language System (UMLS) was searched for the following terms: radio oncology, radiation oncology, radiation therapy, and radiotherapy. We extracted 6509 unique concepts for further analysis. We conducted a quantitative analysis of available source vocabularies (SVs) and analyzed all UMLS SVs according to the route source, number, author, location of authors, license type, the lexical density of TR, and semantic types. Descriptive data are presented as numbers and percentages.ResultsThe concepts were distributed across 35 SVs. The median number of unique concepts per SV was 5 (range 1-5479), with 14% (5/35) of SVs containing 94.59% (6157/6509) of the concepts. The SVs were created by 29 authors, predominantly legal entities registered in the United States (25/35, 71%), followed by international organizations (6/35, 17%), legal entities registered in Australia (2/35, 6%), and the Netherlands and the United Kingdom with 3% (1/35) of authors each. Of the total 35 SVs, 16 (46%) did not have any restrictions on use, whereas for 19 (54%) of SVs, some level of restriction was required. Overall, 57% (20/35) of SVs were updated within the last 5 years. All concepts found within radiation therapy SVs were labeled with one of the 29 semantic types represented within UMLS. After removing the stop words, the total number of words for all SVs together was 56,219, with a median of 25 unique words per SV (range 3-50,682). The total number of unique words in all SVs was 1048, with a median of 19 unique words per vocabulary (range 3-406). The lexical density for all concepts within all SVs was 0 (0.02 rounded to 2 decimals). Median lexical density per unique SV was 0.7 (range 0.0-1.0). There were no dedicated radiation therapy SVs.ConclusionsWe did not identify any dedicated TRs for radiation oncology. Current terminologies are not sufficient to cover the need of modern radiation oncology practice and research. To achieve a sufficient level of interoperability, of the creation of a new, standardized, universally accepted TR dedicated to modern radiation therapy is required.

Method for an Effective Selection of Tools and Cutting Conditions during Precise Turning of Non-Alloy Quality Steel C45.

The paper presents a constructing methodology for a modern approach to tools selection and solving the problem of assigning optimal cutting parameters for specific production conditions. The mathematical formulation determining the extreme values of the technological process optimality criteria is obtained. A system of technical and economic quality indicators for cutting tools is proposed. This system allows principles’ implementation of decentralization and interoperability “Industry 4.0” via finite element modeling of the cutting process based on solving the problem of orthogonal free cutting modeling. The proposed methodology further usage is possible by creating a standardized database on the parameters of the tool: the adhesive component of the friction cutting coefficient for processing of a specific pair of cutting and tool materials (or tool coating material) and the impacts of the cutting-edge radius on cutting efficiency of a particular material.

THE METHOD FOR IMPLEMENTING SEMANTIC INTEROPERABILITY OF FACTOGRAPHIC DATA OF OPERATIONAL DOCUMENTATION OF LARGE PRODUCTION SYSTEMS

The creation and operation of large production systems (LPS), consisting of a set of enterprises and organizations, characterized by their complex interaction, is one of the directions of industrial development in our country. The advantage of the LPS is to increase the efficiency of its functioning, build up scientific potential, and coordinate the enterprises and organizations that are part of it. The production activity of any enterprise is associated with solving the problems of making management decisions, which is based on the processing of exploitative factographic data. By the exploitative content of an enterprise, we mean significant information content for the process of its operation, which is stored in the form of an information resource (for example, an electronic document). Factographic data allow you to monitor the current state of the enterprise, to determine the strategic, tactical, exploitative goals and objectives of the enterprise, to develop well-grounded and timely management decisions. The processing of exploitative factographic data of operational content requires the involvement of additional resources for its processing, which is explained by the low formalizability of the exploitative content and the lack of implementation of semantic interoperability. Semantic interoperability is understood as “the ability of any information systems interacting in the process of communication to understand in the same way the meaning of the information they exchange”. Thus, the actual problem of the operation of large production systems is the implementation of the semantic interoperability of factual data of operational documentation, which will allow the use of a universal algorithm for their processing. The main directions of approaches to the implementation of semantic interoperability are considered and their shortcomings are identified. An approach to the implementation of semantic interoperability based on the use of semistructure of exploitative factual content of electronic documents is proposed. As part of the work, a practical example of the implementation of the proposed approach is given on the example of processing the results of hydrodynamic studies of gas wells. A universal method of marking factographic data in the content of electronic MS Word documents by means of their semistructure models is proposed, which implements support for their semantic interoperability and automated processing for all MS Word document formats implemented on the basis of XML technology.

An Ontology-Based Approach to Enable Data-Driven Research in the Field of NDT in Civil Engineering

Although measurement data from the civil engineering sector are an important basis for scientific analyses in the field of non-destructive testing (NDT), there is still no uniform representation of these data. An analysis of data sets across different test objects or test types is therefore associated with a high manual effort. Ontologies and the semantic web are technologies already used in numerous intelligent systems such as material cyberinfrastructures or research databases. This contribution demonstrates the application of these technologies to the case of the 1H nuclear magnetic resonance relaxometry, which is commonly used to characterize water content and porosity distribution in solids. The methodology implemented for this purpose was developed specifically to be applied to materials science (MS) tests. The aim of this paper is to analyze such a methodology from the perspective of data interoperability using ontologies. Three benefits are expected from this approach to the study of the implementation of interoperability in the NDT domain: First, expanding knowledge of how the intrinsic characteristics of the NDT domain determine the application of semantic technologies. Second, to determine which aspects of such an implementation can be improved and in what ways. Finally, the baselines of future research in the field of data integration for NDT are drawn.

Applying Bidirectional Transformations to the Design of Interoperable EMR Systems.

Interoperability between heterogeneous health information systems has remained an elusive goal despite decades of exchange standards development and implementation initiatives. Empirical studies have shown that in many cases, implemented interoperability interfaces fail to function correctly. Unfortunately, the health informatics literature provides little guidance on how to best design and assure interoperability interfaces. Still, healthcare is not the only industry that requires the exchange of highly complex semantic data structures. Similar requirements can be observed in the engineering industry, where complex data models maintained by various types of development tools and environments must be synchronized over a product's life cycle. Research on how to best address this challenge has led to the development of the concept of bidirectional transformations (BX) and associated design theories, methods, and tools. While BX approaches have received little attention in e-Health interoperability applications to date, we believe that they can also facilitate the implementation and assurance of interoperability in that domain. In this paper, we cast the health information exchange (HIE) challenge as a BX problem, review applicable BX theories, and discuss their practical applications from the perspective of software engineers who are tasked with constructing and assuring bidirectional interoperability interfaces for health information systems. We further design a proof-of-concept interoperability interface using BX design methods in the context of a real-world interoperability standard initiative. We compare the new BX-based interoperability interface with a preexisting, conventionally designed implementation. We find that the BX design offers similar runtime performance while providing improved maintainability, testability, and modularity.

THE ROLE OF UKRAINIAN RAILWAY TRANSPORT IN MODERN LOGISTIC PROCESSES

Purpose. As Ukraine actively develops its transport and logistics network taking into account the modern changes, the ever-increasing trade volume between the Europe and Asia, presents a good opportunity for increasing interoperability for the networks of international railway transportations. The study is aimed to consider in detail main components of railway interoperability and possible ways for achievement of their interaction. Methodology. The idea of interoperability was taken as a basis as a part of logistic system at railway. The crossing of different types of gauges was analyzed on the example of collaboration of Ukraine with European and Asian countries due to the increased freight traffic volume between them. Findings. Taking into account the basic technical parameters unifying the railway operation we found out the following principles: to agree upon a set of technical parameters, essential for the interoperability of the entire region; to determine the values and methods for agreement of the technical parameters to achieve technical interoperability; to decide on gradual implementation of technical interoperability, starting from the international corridors in a coordinated way depending on the priorities of international transportations. Originality. We considered the value of interoperability as a part of railway logistic systems. Practical value. The obtained results of search can be used during implementation of common platform of Ukraine`s collaboration with other countries related to the railway interoperability by establishing common base for work in prospective collaboration.

Interoperability in Smart Manufacturing: Research Challenges

Recent advances in manufacturing technology, such as cyber–physical systems, industrial Internet, AI (Artificial Intelligence), and machine learning have driven the evolution of manufacturing architectures into integrated networks of automation devices, services, and enterprises. One of the resulting challenges of this evolution is the increased need for interoperability at different levels of the manufacturing ecosystem. The scope ranges from shop–floor software, devices, and control systems to Internet-based cloud-platforms, providing various services on-demand. Successful implementation of interoperability in smart manufacturing would, thus, result in effective communication and error-prone data-exchange between machines, sensors, actuators, users, systems, and platforms. A significant challenge to this is the architecture and the platforms that are used by machines and software packages. A better understanding of the subject can be achieved by studying industry-specific communication protocols and their respective logical semantics. A review of research conducted in this area is provided in this article to gain perspective on the various dimensions and types of interoperability. This article provides a multi-faceted approach to the research area of interoperability by reviewing key concepts and existing research efforts in the domain, as well as by discussing challenges and solutions.
