How well do the companies responsible for facilitating the digital transition perform? An analysis on Romanian ICT sector

PurposeThis study proposes an analysis of the performance of companies that have assumed the responsibility of facilitating the digitalization of economic activities. Because of their potential to accelerate digitization, these companies have been financially supported. The monitoring of the performances recorded by these companies, including the evaluation of the impact of different determining factors, meets both the needs of the financiers (concerned with the evaluation of the efficiency of the use of nonreimbursable financing) and the needs of continuous improvement of the activities of the companies in the field.Design/methodology/approachThe study assesses performance dynamics and the impact of its determinants. The model allows achieving a simplified vision of performance and its determinants, supporting decision-makers in the management process. The construction of an estimation model based on the multiple regression method was considered. Robustness tests were performed on the results, using parametric and nonparametric tests.FindingsThe results of the analysis at the level of the extended sample indicated that, during the analyzed period, the economic and commercial performances decreased, and significant influences in this respect include the financing structure, sales dynamics and volume of receivables. The analysis at the level of the restricted sample confirmed these interdependencies and provided additional evidence of the impact of other determinants.Research limitations/implicationsThe study contributes both to performance research and to the assessment of the prospects for accelerating digitalization in support of economic activities. Since the empirical research was carried out on a sample of Romanian companies that provide services in information technology, which accessed nonreimbursable financing, the representativeness of the results is limited to this sector. For the analyzed sample, the study provides support for improving performance.Practical implicationsThe results of the study prove to be useful from a microeconomic and macroeconomic perspective as well, as they provide evidence on the performance of companies that have implemented information and communication technology (ICT) projects and on the efficiency of the use of non-reimbursable funding dedicated to business support.Originality/valueThe study fills the literature gap regarding the performance of companies that have developed ICT projects and received grant funding for the implementation of these projects. The literature review indicated that there are few studies conducted on these companies, which did not include Romanian companies.

The incidence of information and communication technologies in early childhood classrooms: A systemic literature review

The importance of information and communication technology (ICT) in education has been increasingly acknowledged due to advancements in technology. Prior research has explored several perspectives on the “use of ICT in early childhood education (ECE) and has highlighted many obstacles to its implementation in the classroom setting”. The synthesis of these research does not lean towards a singular perspective or definitive result, so allowing for further investigation of the issue at a more profound level. This systematic literature review seeks to enhance the current body of knowledge on teachers’ attitudes toward the efficacy of using ICT in ECE classrooms. By using PRISMA procedures, a total of 12 studies were selected to investigate the perspectives of teachers about the use of ICT, the current methods employed, and the efficacy of teaching at ECE level. The study’s findings indicate that, in general, teachers exhibit a significant propensity toward the use of ICT in ECE. However, the implementation of ICT in classrooms is constrained by several factors.

The sustainability of information and communication technology (ICT) in previously disadvantaged public schools in Gauteng, South Africa

In 2015, a Member of the Executive Council (MEC) of the Gauteng provincial legislature, South Africa, introduced the “Classroom of the Future” programme in previously disadvantaged schools, allowing an integration of information and communication technology into classrooms. In this article we focus on the sustainability of ICT in these schools. We regard sustainability as meeting one’s needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The sample constituted 18 participants from 6 disadvantaged schools in the Classroom of the Future initiative. Semi-structured face-to-face and telephonic interviews were employed for data collection. Our results show that ineffective teacher professional development for ICT, and inconsistent and timeous service delivery from the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) technicians/teacher trainers were a major deterrent to effective ICT implementation. Additionally, the phasing-in approach to the rollout of ICT was a serious challenge to ICT sustainability in schools. We recommend improved teacher professional development initiatives pertaining to ICT to be instituted in schools where heads of departmenti take responsibility for empowering post-level one (PL 1) teachers on ICT to improve classroom learning. We also advocate for new improved service delivery from GDE technicians/teacher trainers, who are held accountable for fulfilling their mandates.

Determinants of Implementing an Information and Communication Technology Tool for Social Interaction Among Older People: Qualitative Content Analysis of Social Services Personnel Perspectives.

Older people are particularly vulnerable to social isolation and loneliness, which can lead to ill-health, both mentally and physically. Information and communication technology (ICT) can supplement health and social care and improve health among the vulnerable, older adult population. When ICT is used specifically for communication with others, it is associated with reduced loneliness in older populations. Research is sparse on how the implementation of ICT, used specifically for communication among older people in social services, can be performed. It is recommended to consider the determinants of implementation, that is, barriers to and facilitators of implementation. Determinants related to older people using ICT tools are reported in several studies. To the best of our knowledge, studies investigating the determinants related to the social services perspective are lacking. This study aims to explore the determinants of implementing the Fik@ room, a new, co-designed, and research-based ICT tool for social interaction among older people, from a social services personnel perspective. This study used an exploratory, qualitative design. An ICT tool called the Fik@ room was tested in an intervention study conducted in 2021 in 2 medium-sized municipalities in Sweden. Informants in this study were municipal social services personnel with experience of implementing this specific ICT tool in social services. We conducted a participatory workshop consisting of 2 parts, with 9 informants divided into 2 groups. We analyzed the data using qualitative content analysis with an inductive approach. The results included 7 categories of determinants for implementing the ICT tool. Being able to introduce the ICT tool in an appropriate manner concerns the personnel's options for introducing and supporting the ICT tool, including their competencies in using digital equipment. Organizational structure concerns a structure for communication within the organization. Leadership concerns engagement and enthusiasm as driving forces for implementation. The digital maturity of the social services personnel concerns the personnel's skills and attitudes toward using digital equipment. Resources concern time and money. IT support concerns accessibility, and legal liability concerns possibilities to fulfill legal responsibilities. The results show that implementation involves an entire organization at varying degrees. Regardless of how much each level within the organization comes into direct contact with the ICT tool, all levels need to be involved to create the necessary conditions for successful implementation. The prerequisites for the implementation of an ICT tool will probably change depending on the digital maturity of future generations. As this study only included 9 informants, the results should be handled with care. The study was performed during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has probably affected the results.

Adoption of Information and Technology Communication in Ulcer Pressure Prevention: A Narrative Review

Patients who have immobilization and bedrest prone to have poor blood circulation to the area that contact the bed. This condition is triggering pressure ulcer that may impact on patients’ recovery process, burden, and conformity. In 4.0 industry, information, and communication technology (ICT) has implemented in many healthcare activities, including in the prevention of pressure ulcer. ICT provides a solution to prevent this unwanted condition in bedrest patients through many forms, but has not been mapped yet, especially for nursing. The purpose of this study is mainly to synthesize previous findings related to the adoption of ICT in pressure ulcer preventions. This study is a literature review which using several databases, namely Pubmed, Google Scholar, JMIR, IEEE, and Sage Journals. We used the PRISMA framework as a guideline to select the eligible articles that must be included to our study. We implemented Mixed Method Appraisal Tool to ensure the quality of articles in this review. Then, the data is synthesized and visualized in tabular. We gathered 2,081 articles from literature searching and obtained 12 eligible articles to be synthesized. Our Findings revealed that ICT adoption in ulcer pressure prevention was further than expected which the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) was dominated in our findings. We also found that several technologies, such internet of things (IoT), were also implemented to send the patient’s data related to pressure ulcer periodically and provided the information for healthcare provider to formulate preventive interventions. Detection of pressure ulcer among patients may be done precisely by tomography technique in one study. Various ICT implementations in pressure ulcer prevention were promising to be adopted by healthcare providers, including nurses.

Perception and utilisation of information and communication technology (ICT) in the management of diabetes in children: Insights from health students in Indonesia

Background/Aim: The management of diabetes in children necessitates active involvement from diverse stakeholders, encompassing parents, lecturers, medical experts, nutritionists and technology-facilitated information and communication technology (ICT). In this context, medical students play a crucial role in the management of diabetes in children. Aim of this study was to delineate the perceptions and utilisation of ICT in the management of diabetes in children among students in Indonesia. Methods: This study employed the cross-sectional method, enlisting participants from bachelor and diploma programs in midwifery, nursing and nutrition at the Health Polytechnic of the Ministry of Health, Indone-sia. Data were gathered through the distribution of questionnaires via the WhatsApp platform. The questionnaire encompassed respondent demo-graphics, knowledge about diabetes in children, perceptions and utilisation of ICT in the management of paediatric diabetes, factors influencing ICT perception and utilisation and the efficacy of ICT implementation in paediatric diabetes management. The collected data were subjected to univariate and multivariate analyses, employing structural equation model-ling with partial least squares. Results: The analytical findings revealed a noteworthy correlation be-tween perception factors and the effectiveness of managing diabetes in children. Nevertheless, ICT utilisation and knowledge about paediatric diabetes did not exhibit significant individual influences on the effectiveness of diabetes management in children. These findings underscored the significance of a comprehensive understanding of diabetes, a favourable perception towards ICT utilisation and engagement in activities involving ICT to enhance the effectiveness of paediatric diabetes management. Conclusion: The utilisation of ICT in the management of paediatric dia-betes by health students holds significant potential for enhancing effec-tiveness in management. This necessitates a profound understanding of diabetes, a favourable perception regarding ICT utilisation and active engagement in ICT-related activities as integral components of paediatric diabetes management strategies.

Implementation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Library Management System (LMS)

Various changes occurred at libraries in different period. Development of libraries in different time span has affected lots on librarians and information professionals in the form of managerial skills, job opportunities, status and their survival. Present day information communication technology application in library has changed drastically in the collection development from print to electronic or digital form and increased the importance and role of librarians in the library. Information explosion is cause for rapid developing of digital information resources and services. This new information environment has brought various challenges before library and information professionals such as adopting new skills of information searching, acquiring, processing, storing and disseminating. This article examines the role of information and communication technologies (ICT) in the interna-tional business development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the modern world. The COVID-19 pandemic had forced managers of SME organizations to adapt quickly to new business conditions by adap-tation of new technologies and changing internal and external business processes. The article analyzes the key factors of integration ICT that influence the transformation of the way business is conducted in global markets. The specifics of ICT implementation in various areas of small and medium-sized businesses are described. The most significant challenges of digital transformation of SME business have been identified. The study high-lights the importance of addressing these issues in increasing the competitiveness and innovation capacity of SMEs in the global economy.

Digitalization of the agricultural sector: the impact of ICT on the development of enterprises in Ukraine

Purpose. The purpose of the research paper is determining the effect of information and communication technologies (ICTs) on the agricultural enterprises performance in Ukraine by studying the dependence of the performance of agricultural enterprises on the activity of their digital solutions implementation.
 Methodology / approach. The effect of ICTs on the performance of agricultural enterprises is studied using the methods of average and relative values, dynamic analysis – in determining the trends in the development of enterprises of the ICT segment and the activity of implementation of digital solutions by agricultural enterprises in their practice; correlation analysis – in studying the dependence of the performance of agricultural enterprises on the activity of digital solutions implementation.
 Results. The dependence of the performance of agricultural enterprises on the activity of their implementation of digital solutions is determined. A direct link between the volume of activities of enterprises operating in the ICT segment and the investments of agricultural enterprises in software is established. It has been determined that the activity of agricultural enterprises in terms of investments in software has a positive effect on their activities results, causing an increase in the volume of sold products, added value and labour productivity. A direct but weak effect of software investments on the cost efficiency of current and environmental activities has been diagnosed. A feedback relationship has been established between the investments made by agricultural enterprises in the acquisition of software and the profitability of their operating activities, which is increasing with taking into account the time lag.  
 Originality / scientific novelty. The article provides empirical evidence of the dependence of agricultural enterprises activity indices on ICT segment enterprises development. The dependence of the results of agricultural enterprises activity on the activity of their digital solutions implementation was investigated with and without taking into account the time lag. The scientific and methodological foundations for assessing the impact of ICT on the performance of enterprises have been improved, in particular by allocating indicators for this assessment by stages of research.
 Practical value / significance. The results of the study can be used in the decision-making process regarding the digital transformation of agricultural enterprises through the implementation of ICT.

Factors influencing ICT implementation in motorcycle goods transport: the mediating role of business efficiency, infrastructure and motorcycle benefits

PurposeThrough the “Going Digital Initiative,” the Ghanaian government has introduced policies that aim at improving the information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure of the country. These ICT policies have benefited numerous sectors of the Ghanaian economy. In logistics management, ICT has impacted drone medical delivery in the healthcare and maritime sectors. However, the importance of ICT is not realized in the motorcycle goods transport (MGT) industry, regardless of its popularity and high economic dependency. Second, all research on motorcycles is focused on diverse social concerns, and no study has attempted to analyze ICT implementation for MGT operations. This is a significant gap in logistics management. Hence, the study aimed to investigate the impact of ICT on Ghana's MGT industry empirically.Design/methodology/approachThe study adopts a two-phase data collection approach to collect the data. The authors use partial least square structural equation modeling to analyze the study's measurement and structural assessment model.FindingsICT positively impacts MGT and the drivers considered. The drivers positively influence MGT. The study further analyzes novel results on the relationships between the drivers and their mediating roles in enhancing MGT performance.Originality/valueThe study's originality is the extension of ICT adoption and usage in MGT. The lack of literature on the importance of ICT for MGT services makes this study the primary source of literature, and the relationships investigated are unique as the research area is unexplored.

Management of human resource records to support functions in the Ministry of Health, Kenya

The study aimed to assess the management of human resource records in the Ministry of Health in Kenya. Despite the support provided by human resource records for service delivery in the Ministry, there are still challenges created by reports of missing files and accumulation of files with no space for accommodation. Problems faced by human resource records management include lack of skills and competencies, inadequate human and financial resources, and lack of policy and support by management in providing necessary requirements for the human resource records management unit’s (RMU) operation. The paper assesses the management of human resource records and proposes strategies and intervention measures for their effective and efficient management. The study adopted both the records life cycle model and qualitative research method. Stratified random sampling and purposive sampling were used to select respondents. Ten individuals from the sampled staff were selected for the pilot of the research instruments to test validity and reliability. The targeted population for the study was 307 staff from the Ministry of Health headquarters and its affiliate departments. A sample size of 94 members of staff, constituting 30% of the targeted population, was derived. They included top management, records management staff, clerical staff, human resource management staff, finance staff, information and communication technology (ICT) staff, and heads of departments. The findings revealed that despite efforts made to adopt the best practices, there were still challenges in implementing the elements of records management infrastructure, inadequate top management, and sustainable technical support in the implementation of ICT and human resource records management programmes in the ministry. The study recommended implementation of the elements of records management infrastructure, inadequate top management, and sustainable technical support in the implementation of ICT in resolving the challenges in the management of human resource records in the Ministry of Health.

A Holistic Model for Disciplinary Professional Development—Overcoming the Disciplinary Barriers to Implementing ICT in Teaching

What helps teachers overcome technological barriers to Information and Communications Technology (ICT) implementation in their subject domains? Can a disciplinary professional development model help reduce these disciplinary barriers? To answer these questions, this mixed-methods case study examines the change in digital ICT implementation and its barriers among secondary school first language teachers after the utilization of a holistic model for disciplinary professional development (language, science, etc.). Ninety-two first language teachers participated in a professional development program that included a unique instructor profile, theoretical and practical training, technical support, and ongoing individual and school-wide didactic and pedagogical support. The teachers’ experiences and changes in their personal general experience during their professional development were then assessed via interviews and open-ended questionnaires. The findings indicate that the unique professional development model largely removed the teachers’ disciplinary barriers. Specifically, during their professional development, the teachers changed their perceptions of the purposes of ICT in first language teaching in general and teaching writing in particular, indicating that they realized that ICT promotes their discipline and is not merely a tool for lesson diversification or intrigue. Furthermore, they recognized that ICT is not an option but an integral part of teaching in the 21st century.

Experienced barriers in the use of ICT for social interaction in older adults ageing in place: a qualitative systematic review protocol (SYSR-D-22–00848)

BackgroundSeveral information and communication technologies (ICT) have been developed to enhance social connectedness of older adults aging in place, although they are not accessible for all. Barriers in using ICT might for example relate to health issues, sensory loss, lack of technical skills, or reluctance to use technologies. Though knowledge on these barriers is crucial for the development and implementation of ICT for older adults, no systematic review was found on this subject. The proposed qualitative systematic review aims to explore barriers experienced by older adults aging in place in using ICT for social interaction.MethodsThe review will be conducted in accordance with the JBI methodology. Databases for search will include MEDLINE (via PubMed), CINAHL (via EBSCO), and Web of Science (ISI), among others. Included studies focus on older adults ageing in place 60 years or older. Pairs of authors will independently, by following agreed guidelines, assess the eligibility of studies, and extract data. The testing of eligibility criteria and screening of titles, abstracts, and full texts will be performed. The findings will describe for example populations, context, culture, and the phenomena of interest. Qualitative research findings will, where possible, be pooled by using JBI SUMARI for the meta-aggregation approach.DiscussionThe mapping of published studies has the potential to identify research gaps in the existing literature, which again may inform developers and stakeholders in designing more user-friendly and adaptive ICT solutions for older people ageing in place.Systematic review registrationCRD42022370044.

ICT's Impact on SMEs in Zanzibar: A 360-Degree Appraisal

The integral role of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in global socio-economic growth is universally acknowledged. Zanzibar, too, recognizes ICT's potential to foster enterprise development. This study conducts a focused analysis of the symbiotic relationship between ICT and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Zanzibar, encompassing ICT's significance, adoption challenges, and its impact on SMEs' growth. Employing a descriptive research design, data collection involved a structured questionnaire distributed to a random sample of 100 respondents. Analysis was conducted using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS), yielding insights communicated through percentages, tables, and graphs. The findings underscore ICT's pivotal role in SME development, with a substantial proportion deriving benefits from its integration. Key variables—ICT's importance, implementation, and influence—are identified as catalysts for improved SME performance. However, challenges persist, including limited expertise, slow internet, setup costs, and security concerns, underscoring the need for refined ICT strategies. Recommendations echo the importance of continuous ICT enhancement, advocating for advanced tools to secure competitive advantages. Moreover, policy interventions by governmental bodies and private entities like the Chamber of Commerce are deemed necessary to facilitate SME education, training, and advisory services. This collective effort promises not only individual business growth but also national economic advancement.In summation, while ICT is a linchpin, factors like technology, customer care, and trust are equally vital. Governmental support for SMEs' effective ICT integration emerges as a core necessity, propelling Zanzibar's SMEs towards amplified growth within an increasingly digital landscape.

A systematic review and knowledge mapping on ICT-based remote and automatic COVID-19 patient monitoring and care

Backgrounde-Health has played a crucial role during the COVID-19 pandemic in primary health care. e-Health is the cost-effective and secure use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) to support health and health-related fields. Various stakeholders worldwide use ICTs, including individuals, non-profit organizations, health practitioners, and governments. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, ICT has improved the quality of healthcare, the exchange of information, training of healthcare professionals and patients, and facilitated the relationship between patients and healthcare providers. This study systematically reviews the literature on ICT-based automatic and remote monitoring methods, as well as different ICT techniques used in the care of COVID-19-infected patients.ObjectiveThe purpose of this systematic literature review is to identify the e-Health methods, associated ICTs, method implementation strategies, information collection techniques, advantages, and disadvantages of remote and automatic patient monitoring and care in COVID-19 pandemic.MethodsThe search included primary studies that were published between January 2020 and June 2022 in scientific and electronic databases, such as EBSCOhost, Scopus, ACM, Nature, SpringerLink, IEEE Xplore, MEDLINE, Google Scholar, JMIR, Web of Science, Science Direct, and PubMed. In this review, the findings from the included publications are presented and elaborated according to the identified research questions. Evidence-based systematic reviews and meta-analyses were conducted using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) framework. Additionally, we improved the review process using the Rayyan tool and the Scale for the Assessment of Narrative Review Articles (SANRA). Among the eligibility criteria were methodological rigor, conceptual clarity, and useful implementation of ICTs in e-Health for remote and automatic monitoring of COVID-19 patients.ResultsOur initial search identified 664 potential studies; 102 were assessed for eligibility in the pre-final stage and 65 articles were used in the final review with the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The review identified the following eHealth methods—Telemedicine, Mobile Health (mHealth), and Telehealth. The associated ICTs are Wearable Body Sensors, Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms, Internet-of-Things, or Internet-of-Medical-Things (IoT or IoMT), Biometric Monitoring Technologies (BioMeTs), and Bluetooth-enabled (BLE) home health monitoring devices. Spatial or positional data, personal and individual health, and wellness data, including vital signs, symptoms, biomedical images and signals, and lifestyle data are examples of information that is managed by ICTs. Different AI and IoT methods have opened new possibilities for automatic and remote patient monitoring with associated advantages and weaknesses. Our findings were represented in a structured manner using a semantic knowledge graph (e.g., ontology model).ConclusionsVarious e-Health methods, related remote monitoring technologies, different approaches, information categories, the adoption of ICT tools for an automatic remote patient monitoring (RPM), advantages and limitations of RMTs in the COVID-19 case are discussed in this review. The use of e-Health during the COVID-19 pandemic illustrates the constraints and possibilities of using ICTs. ICTs are not merely an external tool to achieve definite remote and automatic health monitoring goals; instead, they are embedded in contexts. Therefore, the importance of the mutual design process between ICT and society during the global health crisis has been observed from a social informatics perspective. A global health crisis can be observed as an information crisis (e.g., insufficient information, unreliable information, and inaccessible information); however, this review shows the influence of ICTs on COVID-19 patients' health monitoring and related information collection techniques.

Utilization of Information and Communication Technology in Performance Management: For a Better Organization

Rapid developments in ICT have provided new opportunities for organizations to improve operational efficiency, communication and human resource management. However, the concrete impact of ICT implementation on performance management still requires more in-depth research. This study aims to investigate how the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) can influence and improve performance management in an organizational context. This research will use a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. This study underscores the importance of performance management in achieving organizational goals. By linking strategic planning and tactical execution, ensuring administrative efficiency, managing human resources well, and encouraging individual development, performance management becomes an important foundation for company growth and success. The use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in this process strengthens effectiveness by simplifying performance reviews, providing more targeted feedback, and creating a fair and personalized environment. In today's dynamic era, the combination of strong performance management and ICT utilization provides the necessary tools for organizations to adapt, develop and achieve competitive advantage.

The implementation of ICT in teaching English by the teacher of MTS Swasta Al-Amin

The purpose of this study was to investigate the many forms of technology that are utilized by instructors of English at MTS Swasta Al-Amin, as well as the various forms of ICT that are utilized by those teachers. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with interviews and observations serving as the primary data collection tools. The observation was used to observe the English instructor, and the interview was used to learn about the types of ICT that were used by the teachers. This study focused on two educators in the seventh and eighth grades who used information and communication technology (ICT) into their English lessons. The findings of this study indicate that English instructors make use of many technological tools in their lessons, such as lcd monitors, laptops, speakers, the internet, google classroom, email, whatsapp, facebook, instagram, youtube, power point presentations, focus keys, Microsoft Word, and podcasts. The instructors favored using technology because it kept the students motivated and interested, as well as because it assisted the instructors in displaying materials, sending assignments, and providing notifications everywhere. According to the findings of the research described above, one may draw the conclusion that the integration of technology, specifically ICT, into the educational process has made it easier for educators to present, design, and develop instructional material and tools that are helpful for students' learning motivation.

Improving blended learning in higher technical education institutions with mobile and cloud-based ICTs

This research aims to refine the model of blended learning in higher technical education institutions using cloud-based information and communication technologies (ICTs). The study objectives include determining the role of cloud technologies among contemporary ICTs, analyzing the utilization of cloud technologies in traditional, online, and blended learning, and augmenting the blended learning model with mobile and cloud technologies. The research focuses on the implementation of ICTs in the higher education system of Ukraine. The subject of investigation encompasses the use of cloud technologies and other ICT learning tools in traditional, online, and blended learning. The research methods employed involve analyzing educational programs, monographs, dissertations, articles, conference materials, and online resources. Additionally, targeted pedagogical observations, interviews with educators and students, and analysis of teachers' practical experiences are conducted. The findings emphasize that among various ICTs available for instructional purposes, cloud technologies stand out as facilitators of harmonious integration between the components of traditional education and technology-mediated learning. A promising approach to organizing the learning process, referred to as blended learning, involves the integration of traditional, distance, electronic, mobile, and cloud technologies. The study explores the model of blended learning in higher mathematics education for students in technical institutions, leveraging innovative ICTs. The primary conclusions and recommendations highlight the prevailing trend of transitioning towards blended learning in higher education and the need for further development of cloud technologies in instructional settings. Cloud technologies are particularly valuable for fostering student autonomy, enabling distance learning, and facilitating collaborative research, thereby supporting ongoing monitoring of learning outcomes and timely adjustments to optimize learning experiences.

Information and Communication Technologies in Primary Education: Teachers’ Perceptions in Greece

Innovative learning methods including the increasing use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) applications are transforming the contemporary educational process. Teachers’ perceptions of ICT, self-efficacy on computers and demographics are some of the factors that have been found to impact the use of ICT in the educational process. The aim of the present research is to analyze the perceptions of primary school teachers about ICT and how they affect their use in the educational process, through the case of Greece. To do so, primary research was carried out. Data from 285 valid questionnaires were statistically analyzed using descriptive statistics, principal components analysis, correlation and regression analysis. The main results were in accordance with the relevant literature, indicating the impact of teachers’ self-efficacy, perceptions and demographics on ICT use in the educational process. These results provide useful insights for the achievement of a successful implementation of ICT in education.

Technostress and information and communication technology usage among librarians in Nigerian universities

Purpose This paper aims to investigate technostress and information and communication technology (ICT) usage among librarians in Nigerian universities. Design/methodology/approach Descriptive survey research design was used for the study. Questionnaire was used for data collection. The data generated were analyzed using mean, frequency count and percentage. Findings A moderate extent of psychological, emotional and physical technostress was found among the librarians. The findings further revealed that technostress among the librarians could be reduced through organizational and technical support and the involvement of librarians in the ICT implementation process. The hypotheses tested revealed that there was a significant relationship between technostress and ICT usage among the librarians; female librarians exhibit a higher extent of technostress than male librarians, and there is no difference in the extent of ICT usage between male and female librarians in Nigerian universities. Practical implications Librarians cannot effectively use ICTs if they exhibit technostress. Originality/value The work is a creative attempt to know the difference in the extent of technostress and ICT usage among male and female librarians in Nigerian universities.
