Increasing venous thromboembolism risk assessment through a whole hospital-based intervention: a pre-post service evaluation to demonstrate quality improvement.

Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a primary cause of morbidity and mortality in hospitalized patients. VTE risk assessment is a crucial part of the VTE prevention guideline. However, VTE risk assessment was not consistently undertaken for admitted patients. The aim of this study was to identify whether a quality improvement project implemented to change documentation of VTE risk assessment for hospitalized patients impacted patient safety by decreasing the rate of VTE incidences. The study was set in a 600+ bed acute hospital that provides medical and surgical services for adult patients during the period October 2018-September 2020. The hospital adopted the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) 9th edition VTE prevention guidelines and followed the Modified Caprini risk assessment tool. Following the FOCUS-Plan-Do-Check-Act (FOCUS PDCA) improvement methodology, the improvement team implemented multicomponent interventions over a 3-month period, including conducting educational sessions, sharing VTE documentation compliance results, giving reminders during rounds, assigning a VTE liaison physician within each clinical specialty, and updating and communicating the hospital adopted VTE guidelines. A total of 17 612 patients were included, respectively, 8971 in pre-intervention and 8641 post-intervention period. Documentation of VTE risk assessment upon admission increased significantly in the post quality improvement intervention period (60% vs. 42%, relative increase of 30%, χ2 = 1.43, P < 0.001). The run chart trend analysis demonstrated significant improvement shift and improvement trend after quality improvement project implementation, and it was sustained for 15 months. There was no impact on patient safety with a slight not statistically significant decrease in the VTE incidences rate post intervention period (0.4% vs. 0.5%, relative decrease of 1%, χ2 = 0.82, P < 0.397). The quality improvement project intervention significantly increased the percentage of patients assessed for VTE risk in a hospital setting.

Factors That Impact the Dynamics and Effectiveness of Work Teams during the Implementation of Continuous Improvement Tools in the Manufacturing Industry: A Systematic Literature Review

Currently, because of global competition, companies within the manufacturing industry must implement new organizational and production techniques to compete and stay active. The use of continuous improvement tools has become an opportunity and an effective strategy to achieve this. However, there is evidence that many continuous improvement programs are not successfully implemented due to a lack of information related to human management during the implementation of these projects in the manufacturing industry. In this context, the objective of this research is to identify factors influencing the dynamics and effectiveness of work teams for the implementation and development of continuous improvement tools in the manufacturing industry. A literature review was conducted using the PRISMA method, considering scientific articles related to the main factors that affect the dynamics and effectiveness of work teams in relation to the implementation of continuous improvement tools. From the review and evaluation of the studies, 60 factors were identified that affect the effectiveness of work teams in relation to continuous improvement within the manufacturing industry. Subsequently, a Pareto analysis was conducted on the critical success factors based on the number of occurrences in the analyzed literature, identifying 32 critical success factors considered vital for the implementation of continuous improvement projects. It is concluded that the factors arise from two common elements, the involvement of senior management and the company’s own culture. Therefore, to ensure the effectiveness of work teams and their continuous improvement projects, management must focus attention on this cultural change mainly by providing the necessary resources for the development of the project, establishing an adequate and effective reward system, and, most importantly, directing efforts towards staff empowerment.

Impacts of human activities on the riverbed morphological in the tidal reaches of the Yangtze River

Reservoirs and river management projects have operational impacts on the runoff, sediments, and morphologies of tidal reaches. Therefore, it is of great significance to analyze the influence of human activities on the hydrology and geomorphology of the tidal reaches of the Yangtze River (YR). We measured topographic and water–sediment flux over the past 40 and 60 years, respectively, to determine changes in the characteristics of riverbed lowering or deposition, shoal areas, and diversion ratio of branch channel (DRBC), along with the dynamics and driving mechanisms. The results indicated that cumulative scouring of the tidal reaches occurred from 1981 to 2021 (time-averaged annual riverbed lowering depth = 4.35 cm), which was mainly controlled by reductions in sediment influxes, followed by sand mining and waterway dredging. Riverbed lowering or deposition in the tidal reaches were characterized by deep channel lowering and shoal deposition from 1981 to 2001. From 2001 to 2021, lowering of both deep channel and shoal occurred, with the riverbed lowering volume of the low-flow channel accounting for 79.3 % of the total riverbed lowering volume. The shoal areas exhibited an increasing trend from 1981 to 2001, but reduced by 2.35 % in the 2001–2021 period mainly due to the operation of Three Gorges Reservoir (TGR). Moreover, the implementation of waterway improvement projects slightly increased the shoal areas since 2016. Particularly, the DRBC accounted for 15–50 % of the increase in bifurcation ratio during the 1962–1981 periods. Reductions in sediment influxes and unbalanced riverbed lowering caused by adjustments of flow processes increased the DRBC from 1981 until prior to the implementation of the river and waterway improvement projects. After the implementation, further increases in the DRBC were effectively inhibited or the ratio was decreased. In the near future, the amounts of sediment influxes in the YR Basin will remain low or even further decrease, leading to sustained or intensified scouring of the tidal reaches, and the impacts of shrinking shoal and scouring of branch channels should be focused upon. Overall, the findings of this study provide an in-depth understanding of the impacts of human activities on the riverbed morphologies of tidal reaches.

Critical Success Factors For Quality Improvement Projects In Pasuruan, East Java, Indonesia

Purpose: This study aims to determine the factors influencing the successful implementation of quality improvement projects. Theoretical framework: This research will focus on finding critical success factors for quality improvement projects and prioritizing improvements to improve the performance and success of quality improvement project implementation. Design, Methodology and Approach: The research used Smart PLS-SEM and Importance Performance Analysis (IPA). Smart PLS-SEM was first used to determine critical success factors for Quality Improvement Projects (QIPs). Furthermore, IPA was used to determine the position of each factor based on its importance and achievements. Findings: The result showed all dimensions and indicators significantly affect the success of quality improvement projects. The dimension with the highest outer loading value is the quality performance measurement dimension. The next step is measured using the IPA method to determine the critical factors for project success. The results of the IPA analysis show that quality control and leadership are crucial factors in the success of quality improvement projects in the second quadrant. At the same time, the factor that prioritizes improvement is quality assurance (first quadrant). Research, Practical &amp; Social implications: Research, Practical, and Social Implications: The research implies that quality control and leadership are critical success factors for quality improvement projects. Leadership plays an essential role in implementing quality improvement projects, and leadership commitment is an important key to the success of these projects. In addition, there is a requirement for support from leadership regarding resource allocation. This resource allocation includes labor, costs, information systems, machines, and tools. Another factor that is critical to the success of these projects is quality control. Implementation of quality control has a vital role during the quality improvement project process and after the project. With quality control, the product suits the specifications and standards and meets the targets and standards set. Products that track the results of the implementation of quality control can ensure that the product's quality is guaranteed and follows the target set. Originality/Value: This research combines two methods to determine the critical success factors in implementing quality improvement projects. Previous research, using SEM-PLS and IPA method measurements, was carried out separately, measuring the importance and performance levels. In this study, the outer loading results in the original sample measurement with SEM-PLS for importance value in the IPA method.

Influence Factor of Naval Vessel’s Equipment under Optimized Sailing Strategy

A naval vessel is a large and complex weapon system that can be divided into three hierarchical structures: ship-subsystem-equipment. Optimization of the sailing strategy has improved the use of the equipment and thus the success ratio of sailing missions. Still, the contribution of reliability and maintainability of different hierarchical structures to the sailing mission success ratio has not been quantitatively analyzed. To solve this problem, the fundamental principle for optimizing each subsystem is proposed based on mathematical analysis to determine the improvement sequence at the subsystem level; at the equipment level, the reliability maintainability parameters are adjusted to observe the change in the mission success probability, influence factors are calculated as the basis for the improvement of the underlying equipment. In practical engineering applications, technical and economic costs also need to be considered, and difficulty degree is defined. The difficulty degree and influence factor are integrated, and the specific reliability engineering, specific maintainability engineering, and reliability &amp; maintainability integrated engineering are implemented respectively. The improvement sequence of each equipment is determined under the optimized sailing strategy to provide a reference and basis for the implementation of naval equipment improvement projects.

Recognising and responding to acute deterioration in care home residents: a scoping review

BackgroundAcute deterioration describes a rapid change in physical and/or mental health resulting from an acute illness – e.g., heart attack or infection. Older people in care homes are some of the frailest and vulnerable in society. They have complex health needs, experience multiple long-term conditions (MLTC) and have weakened immune systems due to the ageing process. They are more susceptible to acute deterioration and delayed recognition and response, is linked to poorer health outcomes, adverse events and death. Over the past five years, the need to manage acute deterioration in care homes and prevent hospital admissions has led to development and implementation of improvement projects, including the use of hospital derived practices and tools to identify and manage this condition. This is potentially problematic as care homes are different from hospitals—options to escalate care vary throughout the UK. Further, hospital tools have not been validated for use in care homes and have shown to be less sensitive in older adults living with frailty.ObjectivesTo collate the available evidence on how care home workers recognise and respond to acute deterioration in residents using published primary research, non-indexed and grey literature, policies, guidelines and protocols.MethodsA systematic scoping review was conducted following Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) scoping review methodology. Searches were conducted using: CINAHL (EBSCOhost), EMCARE (OVID), MEDLINE (OVID) and HMIC (OVID). Snowball searches of included studies’ reference lists were conducted. Studies that featured care homes with or without nursing and provided 24/7 care to residents were included.ResultsThree hundred and ninety-nine studies were identified. After reviewing all studies against inclusion criteria, n = 11 were included in the review. All studies used qualitative methods and were conducted in Australia, UK, South Korea, USA and Singapore. Four themes were generated from the review: identifying residents with acute deterioration; managing acute deterioration, care home policies and procedures, and factors affecting recognition and response to acute deterioration.FindingsRecognition and response to acute deterioration in residents is determined by multiple factors and is context sensitive. There are several interrelated factors within and external to the care home that contribute to how acute deterioration is recognised and managed.Conclusions and ImplicationsThe available literature on how care home workers recognise and respond to acute deterioration is limited and often subtends other areas of interest. Recognising and responding to acute deterioration in care home residents is reliant on a complex and open system encompassing multiple interrelated components. The phenomenon of acute deterioration remains underexplored and further research is required to examine contextual factors that accompany identification and management of this condition in care home residents.

Risk management in the regency road improvement projects in Buleleng regency

The largest district in Bali Province is Buleleng Regency with an area of approximately 24.25 percent of the total area of Bali Province. To facilitate the activities of the Buleleng community in all fields, adequate road construction is needed. The Public Works and Spatial Planning Office of Buleleng Regency carries out a road improvement project every year to improve road conditions from an unstable condition to a stable condition. The implementation of road improvement projects can cause various risks so it is necessary to conduct research for risk management with the stages of identifying risks, formulating dominant risks, formulating risk mitigation actions, determining risk ownership and analyzing the impact of dominant risks on potential cost and time losses in district road improvement projects in Buleleng Regency. The research method was carried out by compiling and distributing questionnaires, brainstorming, and focus group discussions. Respondents were selected using a purposive sampling method, namely the respondent determination method with the consideration that the respondent had the competence and experience in the district road improvement project in Buleleng Regency. The number of risks identified in this study were 40 risks with 31 (77.50%) risk being the dominant risk. The results of the formulation of mitigation actions against the dominant risk obtained 47 mitigation actions. Ownership of the most dominant risk (28 dominant risks) is the responsibility of the contractor. The risk with the dominant category is for example poor material quality that affects the quality of work with mitigation measures, namely ensuring that the material sent by the supplier matches the sample material that meets the required specifications with the risk ownership being the contractor. The impact of the dominant risk on the potential cost increase is IDR. 707.569.114,60 and the potential for additional time is 11 days.

Internal Logistics Process Improvement using PDCA: A Case Study in the Automotive Sector

Abstract Background: The Plan-do-check-act (PDCA) cycle methodology for a continuous improvement project implementation aims for the internal logistics upgrade, which is especially important in the industrial context of a component manufacturing company for the automotive sector. Objectives: The goal is to quantify the gains from waste reduction based on the usage of the PDCA cycle as a tool in the implementation and optimisation of a milk run in an assembly line of a company in the automotive sector by determining the optimal cycle time of supply and the standardisation of the logistic supply process and the materials’ flow. Methods/Approach: The research was conducted through observation and data collection in loco, involving two main phases: planning and implementation. According to the phases of the PDCA cycle, the process was analysed, and tools such as the SIPOC matrix, process stratification, 5S, and visual management were implemented. Results: Using Lean tools, it was possible to reduce waste by establishing concise flows and defining a supply pattern, which resulted in a reduction of movements. The transportation waste was reduced by fixing the position of more than half of the materials in the logistic trailers. The developed Excel simulator provided the logistic train’s optimal cycle time. Conclusions: The assembly line supplied by milk-run was fundamental to highlight a range of improvements in the process of internal supply, such as better integration of stock management systems, greater application of quality, or the adoption of better communication systems between the different areas and employees.

What Should Be the Topics of a Prospective Study on Ovarian Masses in Children?-Results of a Multicenter Retrospective Study and a Scoping Literature Review.

Purpose: to determine management problems of ovarian masses in girls in order to form a baseline for prospective randomized studies of the established topics and quality improvement of our management. Materials and Methods: We performed a national analysis of clinical aspects of ovarian masses in girls operated on in Poland, analyzed retrospectively medical files of all consecutive patients aged 0–18 who underwent surgeries for ovarian lesions between 2012 and 2017 at 17 pediatric surgical departments and complemented the analysis with a scoping review of a recent primary research related to ovarian masses in children. Results: The study group comprised 595 patients. Forty-four (7.39%) girls were diagnosed with malignant tumors. The overall preservation rate was 64.54%. The analysis revealed that positive tumor markers (OR = 10.3), lesions larger than 6 cm (OR = 4.17) and solid mass on ultrasound examination (OR = 5.34) are interdependent variables differentiating malignant tumors from non-malignant lesions ( = 79.1; p = 0.00000). Our scoping review revealed 10 major branches of research within the topic of ovarian masses in pediatric population. Conclusions: We have developed an overview of the field with the emphasis on the local environment. Our next step is a multi-institutional prospective study of a quality improvement project implementation based on the obtained knowledge.

The article focuses on participatory design of the urban environment— a topic that is currently highly relevant to urban studies—from the point of view of schoolchildren and youth. The methodological foundation of the study included the ideas of foreign and Russian authors in the field of urban sociology, the architecture of urban spaces and comprehensive childhood studies (R. Park, V. Glazychev, A. Filipova, R. Hart and others). To gather research data, a study was conducted among Kursk school and university students in November 2020, using qualitative methods. The conversations focused on the main initiatives of the Kursk region government in the area of creating a comfortable urban environment. The level of participation of children and young people in the implementation of these initiatives was assessed based on their opinions expressed during the focus group, informal interviews, etc. Projects related to society, culture, environment, branding and graffiti had the greatest resonance. An overwhelming number of study participants expressed a desire and willingness to participate in the design of the urban environment. School and university students can do so within the framework of existing legislation. Barriers to initiative implementation and potential measures to overcome those were also identified. The results of the study support the feasibility and legitimacy of involving children and young people in the discussion and implementation of urban improvement projects, as well as the educational potential of these activities in the framework of university career guidance and education.

Evaluation of an Access-Risk-Knowledge (ARK) Platform for Governance of Risk and Change in Complex Socio-Technical Systems

Three key challenges to a whole-system approach to process improvement in health systems are the complexity of socio-technical activity, the capacity to change purposefully, and the consequent capacity to proactively manage and govern the system. The literature on healthcare improvement demonstrates the persistence of these problems. In this project, the Access-Risk-Knowledge (ARK) Platform, which supports the implementation of improvement projects, was deployed across three healthcare organisations to address risk management for the prevention and control of healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs). In each organisation, quality and safety experts initiated an ARK project and participated in a follow-up survey and focus group. The platform was then evaluated against a set of fifteen needs related to complex system transformation. While the results highlighted concerns about the platform’s usability, feedback was generally positive regarding its effectiveness and potential value in supporting HCAI risk management. The ARK Platform addresses the majority of identified needs for system transformation; other needs were validated in the trial or are undergoing development. This trial provided a starting point for a knowledge-based solution to enhance organisational governance and develop shared knowledge through a Community of Practice that will contribute to sustaining and generalising that change.

A Holistic Analysis of Train-Vehicle Accidents at Highway-Rail Grade Crossings in Florida

Highway-rail grade crossing (HRGC) accidents pose a serious risk of safety to highway users, including pedestrians trying to cross HRGCs. A significant increase in the number of HRGC accidents globally calls for greater research efforts, which are not limited to the analysis of accidents at HRGCs but also understanding user perception, driver behavior, potential conflicting areas at crossings, effectiveness of countermeasures and user perception towards them. HRGC safety is one of the priority areas in the State of Florida, since the state HRGCs experienced a total of 429 injuries and 146 fatalities between 2010 and 2019 with a significant increase in HRGC accidents over the last years. The present study aims to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the HRGCs that experienced accidents in Florida over the last years. The databases maintained by the Federal Rail Administration (FRA) are used to gather the relevant information for a total of 578 crossings that experienced at least one accident from 2010 to 2019. In contrast with many of the previous efforts, this study investigates a wide range of various factors, including physical and operational characteristics of crossings, vehicle and train characteristics, spatial characteristics, temporal and environmental characteristics, driver actions and related characteristics, and other relevant information. The outcomes of this research will help better understanding the major causes behind accidents at the HRGCs in the State of Florida in a holistic way by considering a variety of relevant factors, which will assist the appropriate stakeholders with implementation of safety improvement projects across the state.

Predicting geogenic groundwater fluoride contamination throughout China

Endemic fluorosis exists in almost all provinces of China. The long-term ingestion of groundwater containing high concentrations of fluoride is one of the main causes of fluorosis. We used artificial neural network to model the relationship between groundwater fluoride concentrations from throughout China and environmental variables such as climatic, geological. and soil parameters as proxy predictors. The results show that the accuracy and area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of the model in the test dataset are 80.5% and 0.86%, respectively, and climatic variables are the most effective predictors. Based on the artificial neural network model, a nationwide prediction risk map of fluoride concentrations exceeding 1.5 mg/L with a 0.5 × 0.5 arc minutes resolution was generated. The high risk areas are mainly located in western provinces of Xinjiang, Tibet, Qinghai, and Sichuan, and the northern provinces of Inner Mongolia, Hebei and Shandong. The total number of people estimated to be potentially at risk of fluorosis due to the use of untreated high fluoride groundwater as drinking water is about 89 million, or 6% of the population. The high fluoride groundwater risk map helps the authorities to prioritize areas requiring mitigation measures and thus facilitates the implementation of water improvement and defluoridation projects.

How to sustainably build capacity in quality improvement within a healthcare organisation: a deep-dive, focused qualitative analysis

BackgroundA key characteristic of healthcare systems that deliver high quality and cost performance in a sustainable way is a systematic approach to capacity and capability building for quality improvement. The aim of this research was to explore the factors that lead to successful implementation of a program of quality improvement projects and a capacity and capability building program that facilitates or support these.MethodsBetween July 2018 and February 2020, the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN), a network of health services in Adelaide, South Australia, conducted three capability-oriented capacity building programs that incorporated 82 longstanding individual quality improvement projects. Qualitative analysis of data collected from interviews of 19 project participants and four SALHN Improvement Faculty members and ethnographic observations of seven project team meetings were conducted.ResultsWe found four interacting components that lead to successful implementation of quality improvement projects and the overall program that facilitates or support these: an agreed and robust quality improvement methodology, a skilled faculty to assist improvement teams, active involvement of leadership and management, and a deep understanding that teams matter. A strong safety culture is not necessarily a pre-requisite for quality improvement gains to be made; indeed, undertaking quality improvement activities can contribute to an improved safety culture. For most project participants in the program, the time commitment for projects was significant and, at times, maintaining momentum was a challenge.ConclusionsHealthcare systems that wish to deliver high quality and cost performance in a sustainable way should consider embedding the four identified components into their quality improvement capacity and capability building strategy.

Leadership, governance and management for improving district capacity and performance: the case of USAID transform: primary health care

BackgroundPrimary health care (PHC) in Ethiopia serves as the main entry point for preventive, promotive and curative health services. The district health office is responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of all district health activities. In addition, district health offices manage service delivery facilities working on provision of PHC – primary hospitals, health centers and health posts. As the leader of the health care system tier, district health management must ensure direction, alignment and commitment within teams and organizations and make sure that achievements are consistent with the vision, values and strategy of the organization. USAID Transform: Primary Health Care provides diverse support to improve district health manager competencies including in-service trainings followed by planning and implementation of performance improvement projects and on-the-job mentoring and support.MethodsThis study was conducted to compare district level capacity and performances between leadership, management and governance (LMG) and non-LMG districts. Project outcome monitoring data that shows the performance of districts was collected from 284 districts from January to December 2019. The study was carried out using a comparative-cross sectional study design, which assessed and compared district health office level indicators. Districts were classified into two categories: LMG and non-LMG districts. The study compared data from 94 LMG and 190 non-LMG districts. Propensity score matching was used to control the effect of differences between LMG and non-LMG districts.ResultsResults of the independent samples t-test revealed that LMG districts scored better average performances of 61.8 ± 121.45 standard deviation (SD) compared to non-LMG districts 56.89 ± 110.39 SD, with t (282243) = − 3.407317 and p < 0.001, two-tailed. The difference of 4.9 percentage unit in the average performance indicated a statistically significant difference between the LMG and non-LMG districts.ConclusionDistrict level leadership development program contributes to improving district capacity, structure and management practices, and quality of care.

Methodology for Continuous Improvement Projects in Housing Constructions

Several authors have studied construction defects, but no studies were found implementing best practices and control strategies through the implementation of continuous improvement projects. This article shows a procedure based on Continuous Improvement Projects, which can be used in building constructions, and it is structured into four phases: Plan, Do, Check, Act, following the PDCA Quality Cycle. In addition, the method developed was specified for ceramic tiling execution and was further implemented in three building projects of Spain. The results obtained concluded that the proposed Procedure can be used by construction professionals who are concerned about improving the quality of construction. In addition, the implementation of the Procedure managed to reduce around 45% the costs derived from the defects caused during the ceramic tiling execution, due to the best practices incorporated in the Procedure. A slight increase in the number of defects was also found, motivated by the thorough inspection conducted when the Procedure was applied. Therefore, the Procedure (incorporating the lessons learned) must be implemented so that by learning, gaining experience, and incorporating best practices, the goal of zero defects can be achieved.

The features of small rivers monitoring in the Russian cities (on the example of the Novosibirsk city)

Attention to such natural objects as small rivers of the Russian cities is constantly growing. This is due to the desire of urban citizens to create recreational zones near their homes, the central place of which are sections of small rivers. It explains the need to expand the network of hydrological posts in the agglomeration, where observations of water quality indicators, hydrological regime, etc. provide important information for the creation and implementation of improvement projects for the territories under consideration. This article provides a small part of the necessary hydrological and environmental monitoring on the small river Eltsovka-2 in the city of Novosibirsk.

Project Planning and Implementation of Projects at Safaricom Limited in Mombasa County, Kenya

Project implementation has been a major concern to project teams, financiers and beneficiaries. This may be attributed to the fact that a number or projects that have been rolled out have failed to achieve the desired goals. Some have stalled at different stages of their development while others are completed but do not bring the anticipated impact whether financial, social, economic, physical or even institutional. Therefore, this study aimed to establish the effect of project planning on implementation of project in safaricom limited in Mombasa County, Kenya. The study specific objectives were to establish the effect of communication management, personnel management, stakeholder’s involvement and resource planning on the implementation by safaricom projects in Mombasa County. The theories guiding the study were cybernetics Theory, Resource-Based Theory and Stakeholders Theory. The study targeted 99 Safaricom projects in Mombasa County and data was collected from 99 project managers. Questionnaires were used to collect the primary data. Majority of the project managers to a very great extent indicated that communication is an integral part in projects in their organization. It was illustrated that to a very great extent the project managers ensured effective communication in all partners and respondent further presented that to a high extent Safaricom Plc adopted both external as well as internal communication. The findings indicated that majority of the project managers to a very great extent indicated that there was competent project team, to a high extent adequate staffing was availed, to a very high extent training and development was done and adequate remuneration was done. The study findings indicated majority of the respondents indicated to a very great extent that resource identification, sharing of resources, resource budgeting and resource control was effectively done. The results indicated that to a very great extent there exist high participations of stakeholder in project delivery, to a very great extent they allocated enough funds and skills to projects, to a very great extent project managers ensured stakeholder engagement in projects to enhance project performance and that to a very great extent involvement of majority of stakeholders helps to efficiency of a project. The study concluded that most of the project managers accord communication management as an important role that aims to improve project implementation. The study concluded that competent project team, adequate staffing, training and development and adequate remuneration are significant in explaining changes in project implementation. The study concluded that resource identification, sharing of resources, resource budgeting and resource control contributes enormously to the success of the projects. The study concluded that high participations of stakeholder in project delivery, allocation of enough funds and skills to projects, ensuring stakeholder engagement in projects enhances project performance. The study recommended that Safaricom Plc should equip the project managers through appropriate and constant training programs addressing the importance and modes of communication. Estimating the costs of individual activities based on execution conditions will assist to generate correct overall cost estimation. Project personnel planning, personnel management should focus on ensuring that projects are within time and budget. Early detection of deviations on resource utilization especially materials will enable necessary actions by the project team. The study recommended that project managers should encourage high participations of stakeholder in project delivery, allocation of enough funds and training.
