The Impact of Entrepreneurial Orientation on Performance through Competence in Rattan Handicraft SMEs

This study aimed to analyze the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation to performance with competence as mediation. This quantitative study was conducted at Rattan Handicraft MSMEs in Gresik Regency, East Java, Indonesia. The sampling technique used census/full sampling with a sample of 82 MSME employees. The data analysis method uses Path analysis through several stages, including linearity assumption, measurement model test (outer model), structural model test (inner model), and hypothesis testing. The results of this study indicate an influence between entrepreneurial orientation and competence, the influence between entrepreneurial orientation on performance, and the influence between competence on performance, and competence can mediate the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and performance. The practical contribution of this research is that it can Business development strategies as well as manpower development in MSMEs. The implications of this research can bring a deeper understanding of the dynamics involved in achieving performance excellence in the context of business and development strategies that can increase the success of MSMEs in achieving goals.

Impact of Entrepreneurial Orientation and Technology Acquisition on Technology Startups

Since the advent of the fourth industrial revolution, the global economy has been led by big tech companies based on technology startups. In this situation, it is very timely to investigate the antecedent factors for the performance enhancement of technology startups that can play a big role in driving economic growth. We investigate the effect of entrepreneurial orientation and technology acquisition on the financial and non-financial performance of technology startups. In order to achieve these research goals, we collected data from 121 Korean technology startups to examine the effects. Our results support that both entrepreneurial orientation and technology acquisition improve the performance (financial and non-financial) of technology startups. In addition, the entrepreneurial orientation of technology startups has a significant indirect effect on performance (financial and non-financial) through technology acquisition. Overall, our study contributes to improving the understanding of the antecedent factors for the achievement of the performance of technology startups in the field of entrepreneurship research by presenting a new research model of the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation, technology acquisition and the performance of technology startups. In addition, this study provides the basis for the need for technology acquisition support policies for technology startup support institutions to nurture technology startups.

Entrepreneurial cooperatives: The impact of entrepreneurial orientation on economic and social performance

Although most SMEs are corporations, a substantial proportion are cooperatives and direct competitors in the same business areas. Cooperatives are an organizational alternative combining the ingredients for a sustainable and equal economy in its business model. However, they are often alleged to be inefficient and structurally inert compared to corporations. It is not clear how cooperatives manage to be innovative and efficient, given the characteristics of the cooperative model. Furthermore, there is a lack of understanding how an entrepreneurial orientation (EO) helps them to perform in competition. This study theoretically and empirically examines whether cooperatives benefit from EO in their multi-dimensional goal system. Additionally, the study asks how cooperative-specific collective characteristics relate to EO and performance. Using cross-sectoral data of 368 cooperatives in Switzerland and applying structural equation modelling (PLS), the results show that EO is significantly and positively linked to economic performance. Inter- and intraorganizational cooperation is associated with higher levels of EO and indirectly affects performance through EO. The results suggest that cooperatives, like other SMEs, benefit from EO in competition and can take advantage of cooperative-specific characteristics.

Impact of Entrepreneurial Orientation, Social Capital, and Technological Innovation on Competitiveness of MSMEs in Kintamani, Bali

This study looks at how social capital, technological innovation, and entrepreneurial orientation affect the competitiveness of MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises) in Kintamani, Bali. The relationship between entrepreneurial behaviour, community interaction, technology adoption, and business competitiveness was investigated through quantitative analysis using a sample of 276 firms with random sampling technique and indicator comparison in SEM-PLS. Findings indicate a strong positive correlation between competitiveness, social capital, technological innovation, and entrepreneurial behaviour. In addition, this study reveals how social capital serves as a moderator to strengthen the beneficial effects of entrepreneurial mindset on competitiveness. The model shows a good fit, highlighting how well it captures the complex dynamics within Kintamani's distinct cultural and geographical environment. The findings of this study provide implications in enhancing MSME competitiveness, and practical insights that will direct plans for sustainable growth in this unique region by focusing on improving social capital, adapting to technology and increasing the level of entrepreneurial orientation for MSMEs in Kintamani Bali.

The Relationship of Leadership Styles and Sustainability: Regression Analysis of the Antecedents in Achieving Sustainable Performance

This study examines the relationship between Leadership Styles, including Transformational and Transactional Leadership, and Sustainability. This study also includes other variables, such as Entrepreneurial Orientation and Innovation Capability. This research uses a quantitative approach and 216 data are gathered. The results of this study stated that both leadership styles significantly and positively impact the other three variables. Though both of them have a significant impact, Transformational Leadership mostly has a higher impact than Transactional Leadership. There are two interesting findings in this study. First, the impact of Entrepreneurial Orientation on Innovation Capability is higher in Transactional than in Transformational Leadership. The second finding is that Innovation Capability negatively impacts Sustainable Performance in Transformational Leadership. The discussion, conclusion, limitations, and suggestions are provided in this journal.

Entrepreneurial Orientation Impact on the Innovation Ambidexterity: Evidence from the Industrial-Based Sector

Entrepreneurship, in many low-developed economies, plays an important role in defeating external distress. It is crucial in such situation that entrepreneurial firms resist and even grow. The purpose of this paper is to investigate how entrepreneurial orientation brings about organisational ambidexterity through the mediation role of intellectual capital in the context of a developing country. This paper reports research results combining a qualitative and quantitative evaluation. The exploratory study is based on qualitative case studies and in-depth interview data collected from 15 Tunisian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the industrial sector. Then, the methodology included a survey of 155 SMEs using a questionnaire and structural equation modelling analyses. The results reveal that SMEs leverage internal and external resources to pursue ambidexterity separately or simultaneously. The data were gathered from a sole informant from every firm. Consequently, more in-depth longitudinal study may be requisite to expand deeper insights into the used variables. SME managers need to focus on the specific barriers to ambidexterity and design effective mechanisms to advance the drivers of ambidexterity. The mechanisms to realize ambidexterity as branded in this study will assist SMEs in particular, and firms in general. A new shape of organisation is an open design allowing more outer acquaintance and resources to be riveted, which is claimed as a novel model for organisation. This study combined the concepts of entrepreneurial orientation and intellectual capital as the basis of innovation ambidexterity. Human, organisational and relational capitals are the intermediate mechanisms to explain the effect of entrepreneurial orientation. Moreover, the Tunisian specific context adds more novelty to this study.

Impact of entrepreneurial orientation on performance and moderating role of crisis perception: multi-method examination

PurposeThis study aims to examine the role of the dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) under turbulent market conditions and reveal the role of an entrepreneur's perception of a crisis in shaping the impact of EO on firm performance.Design/methodology/approachThis study uses partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM), multiple linear regression (MLR) and fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA). The study sample was comprised of 117 one- and two-star hotels that were operating in Poland.FindingsThe results showed that proactiveness and risk-taking significantly affected firm performance. Furthermore, the results revealed that an entrepreneur's perception of a crisis moderated the impact of risk-taking and proactiveness on firm performance. In particular, the findings suggested that, in firms where the crisis strongly influenced their operations, performance was affected by proactiveness, while in those firms where the crisis influenced their operations to a low or moderate degree, performance was affected by risk-taking. Furthermore, fsQCA unveiled the role of innovativeness, which (along with risk-taking) is a sufficient condition that leads to firm performance.Originality/valueTwo characteristics make this study original: first, it investigates EO under turbulent market conditions, and second, it analyzes the role of an entrepreneur's perception of crisis consequences for business operations. The study contributes to the literature on entrepreneurship and crisis management with findings on the different roles of EO dimensions under crisis conditions and an observation about the moderating role of an entrepreneur's perception of the impact of a crisis on operational management and how this perception differentiates the impact of risk-taking and proactiveness on firm performance.

The Impact of Entrepreneurial Orientation on SMEs’ Performance in a Transitional Economy: The Mediating Role of Differentiation Advantages and Innovation Capability

EO literature suggests that the effects of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) on performance is affected by studying context. There is a lack of study executed in transitional economies. In addition, the mediating role of differentiation advantages (DA) and innovation capability (IC) on the relationship between EO and performance remains underexplored. Thus, drawing upon resource-based view and contingency theory, this study examines the mediating effects of DA and IC on this relationship in the contexts of manufacturing SMEs located in Vietnam. A sample of 176 manufacturing SMEs currently operating in Vietnam was analyzed. Partial least square structural equation modeling was applied to test the hypotheses. The results indicate that DA and IC fully mediate the relationship between EO and performance. These findings permit four theoretical contributions to the literature. First, this study contributes to the EO literature by examining the effects of EO in a transitional economy as Vietnam. Second, this study also overcomes prior EO studies in term of the operationalization of the performance. Third, this study introduces to EO literature two novel mediators such as DA and IC. Last but not least, this study it also contributes to contingency theory in EO study by addressing mediating rather moderating effects. Regarding to practical implications, managers of manufacturing SMEs should aware that adopting EO is only beneficial to the performance when EO can be used to develop DA and IC.

The impact of entrepreneurial orientation and company innovation on the business performance of manufacturing SMEs

This study examines the importance of entrepreneurial orientation in relation to innovation and performance within the context of manufacturing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Additionally, it looks into the impact of innovation on manufacturing SMEs' performance as well as the impact of entrepreneurial innovation on those SMEs' performance. The research population involved all manufacturing SMEs in Gorontalo Province, Indonesia. Sampling processes apply the nonprobability sampling method. The selection of cluster sampling, involving 150 samples, was carried out purposively. Data analysis was carried out using structural equation modeling with software called Analysis of Moment Structures (Amos). The findings indicate a favorable and statistically significant relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and both innovation and performance in manufacturing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Furthermore, the integration of entrepreneurial orientation and innovation inside small and medium-sized firms (SMEs) operating in the manufacturing sector has been identified as having a substantial and advantageous influence on their overall performance. It is noteworthy that the introduction of innovation within a firm does not have any discernible influence on the operational performance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the manufacturing sector. This study suggests that people involved in manufacturing SMEs must boost their performance by being proactive towards an entrepreneurial orientation. It is recommended for SMEs in Gorontalo City to enhance the implementation of entrepreneurial orientation for the development of their businesses. It is also essential to consider the factors of proactive attitudes, enthusiasm, and risk-taking attitudes.

The Impact of Entrepreneurial Orientation on SMEs’ Performance: The Case of the Northern Region of Morocco

Entrepreneurship is a real actor not only in the development of society but also in societal change and its emergence leads to a more open economy where innovation, business creation, and multiplication of innovative projects have become, in all sectors, engines of wealth, growth and employment. 
 Nowadays, entrepreneurship has given birth to several concepts. One such concept, entrepreneurial orientation (OE), is the subject of our article, which according to (Lumpkin & Dess, 1996; Wiklund & Shepherd, 2003), means the strategic decision-making of companies on the entrepreneurial level. Thus, any company with an entrepreneurial orientation must be characterized by risk-taking, innovation and proactivity. Hence the multidimensional particularity of this concept. This entrepreneurial orientation is essential for any company wishing to renew itself, develop and improve its performance in a dynamic, changing and uncertain environment.
 Ultimately, the purpose of this article is to elucidate through a survey based on a questionnaire conducted in the field with 130 SMEs in the northern region of Morocco. The study showed a favorable result confirming our central hypothesis.
 Therefore, our work would be respectively theoretical and practical. The first part will be devoted to the conceptual foundations of our study while highlighting the literature review through the presentation of different research works and then exposing the methodology adopted and the main features of our sample. Consequently, our second part will be devoted to presenting and discussing the empirical results obtained.

Innovation ability in mediates on the relationship of entrepreneurship orientation, organizational culture and knowledge management on MSME performance

This study aims to examine the effect of organizational culture, knowledge management, and entrepreneurial orientation according to the performance of MSMEs; mediated by innovation capabilities. The sample in the study was 265 food and beverage MSMEs in Malang City, East Java Province. The analysis tool used in this study is Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results of the study explain entrepreneurial orientation, organizational culture, knowledge management that influence the innovation ability and the performance of food and beverage MSMEs. The ability of innovation affects the performance of MSMEs. The impact of entrepreneurial orientation, organisational culture, and knowledge management on MSME performance can be moderated by an organization's capacity for innovation. The implications of the results of this study for the development of the Resource Base View theory, that the performance of food and beverage MSMEs in Malang City will increase if MSME actors make maximum use of intangible resources through entrepreneurial orientation as shown by being proactive, carrying out an organizational culture such as consistency and using management. Good knowledge is shown by the ability of MSME actors to utilize knowledge, this condition increases innovation capabilities, especially product innovation and has an impact on improving MSME performance through product performance.

Improving business performance through entrepreneurial orientation, product innovation, and co-creation value

Business performance describes the ability of the manager of the company to perform. In micro, small, and medium companies, the owners usually act as the managers. Ideally, this performance has to be improved. Moreover, to accommodate this intention, this study investigates the related factors, like entrepreneurial orientation (EO), product innovation (PI), and co-creation value (CCV). Hence, this study aims to investigate two effects. The first is the impact of EO and CCV on PI. The second is the influence of CCV and PI on business performance. Therefore, a quantitative design is employed to examine the hypothesis by referring to this circumstance. As samples, this study uses a purposive sampling method to select 60 owners of the creative culinary industry in West Java. Additionally, this study uses a survey to collect the data, and the variance-based structural equation model to analyze the data. After processing the data, the hypotheses are tested and discussed, this research demonstrates the positive effect of EO and CCV on PI. Furthermore, a positive relationship is found between CCV and PI, and business performance. As a practical implication, entrepreneurial orientation, product innovation, and co-creation value are essential qualities for business owners to improve business performance.

The impact of entrepreneurial orientation on firm performance: Exploring the moderating influence of trust and organizational commitment in the Indian IT/ITE sector

The purpose of the research study is to test how entrepreneurship orientation influences Indian MSME’s performance and to delineate the moderation effect of trust in leadership and employee commitment on the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and firm performance. Based on the social exchange theory, the study tested how firm performance is affected by Entrepreneurship Orientation such that relationships can be exchanged by trust and commitment. Applying descriptive research design, data were collected from randomly selected IT and ITE consulting firms located in Bangalore (A metro Tier I city in the country which presents close to 80 percent of Indian IT and ITE companies’ establishment (timesofindia, 2020)). The hypothesized model was tested using SEM analysis. This study aims to: (1) examine the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and firm performance within the context of Indian Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), with a specific focus on consulting organizations; (2) assess the moderating influence of trust among members on the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and firm performance; and (3) investigate the interaction effect of managerial commitment on the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and firm performance, thereby enhancing our understanding of the dynamics at play within MSMEs, particularly in the consulting sector. The capability of being innovative which measures entrepreneurial orientation impact firm performance and being proactive in the business over entrepreneurial orientation positively impacts firm performance while risk-taking attitude and firm performance relationship are not significant. This result is in support of the previous research report that showed only the innovativeness and proactiveness variable. Further, it is noticed from the hierarchical regression analysis that proactiveness and firm performance are moderated by the level of trust that the employee has in his/her functional manager, and proactiveness and firm performance are also moderated by the employee’s level organizational commitment.

Impact of Entrepreneurial Orientation on SME Performance : The Moderating Role of Environmental Turbulence

Purpose : Worldwide, the development of SMEs is recognized as a crucial sector of growth. According to contingency and RBV theory, this study was designed to measure entrepreneurial orientation and SME performance in Pakistan’s textile sector, while environmental turbulence moderated their relationship. Methodology : The research framework was investigated using a self-administrative questionnaire. Based on a simple random sampling method, 379 SME owners/managers were selected and analyzed. SPSS and Smart PLS 3.0 were used to test the hypotheses. Findings : The current study concluded that entrepreneurial orientation (EO) significantly impacted the performance of SMEs. Moreover, EO and the performance of SMEs were also moderated by environmental turbulence (ET). Practical Implications : To attain superior performance, SMEs should focus on entrepreneurship, formulate unique strategies, and anticipate the turbulent environment. Originality : Prior research has focused only on direct relationships and in other contexts, the current work builds the combination of contingency and RBV theory by considering the empirical explanation of entrepreneurial orientation and environmental turbulence. Additionally, it identified new research opportunities in strategic management.

Impact of Entrepreneurial Orientation on MSME Performance: Mediating Role of Entrepreneurial Competency

Abstract This study uses entrepreneurial competencies as a mediating element to explore the scope and pattern of influence of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) on micro, small and medium entrepreneur (MSME) business success. The study’s target population was small-scale business owners and employees from Rajasthan, India. A sample of 339 small companies was selected through the purposive sampling method. Data were gathered through a survey instrument designed given an appropriate theoretical context. The survey instrument was tested for its proper validity and reliability. Further, we used the structural equation modeling approach to test the hypotheses. Derived findings indicated that the direct impact of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) on firm performance was significant. Additionally, the relationship between EO and MSME performance was partially mediated by entrepreneurial competencies. The conceptual framework and findings offer the MSME sector entrepreneur new directions for positioning their product in customers’ minds and supporting the growth of an innovative and opportunistic mindset. The current research findings help to outperform the competition and take advantage of market opportunities. The organization must be able to correctly match what it delivers to the consumer with the needs and demands of the customer.

Share value relational capital: Suggestions for the future and an assessment of past research in driving marketing performance

This research aims to create a new theoretical framework that focuses on the impact of entrepreneurial orientation and relational capital stock value on the marketing performance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to gain a competitive advantage. This study involved 220 SME owners and used structural equation modeling to identify two effective strategies to improve SME marketing performance. Both strategies are the application of entrepreneurial orientation and utilization of share value relational capital.

Impact of Entrepreneurial Orientation and Entrepreneurship Education on Entrepreneurial Intention and Internationalization of Engineer-Entrepreneur Start-ups

While application of entrepreneurship concept is gaining traction in engineering and the entrepreneurship courses embedded in engineering programs increase swiftly, there is a lack of study focusing on how engineering programs enable entrepreneurial experiences in their programmes. The influence of entrepreneurial orientation and entrepreneurship education on achievement entrepreneurial goals of engineers in Sri Lanka remains understudied and uncertain in many circumstances. This necessitates a thorough examination of the mechanisms by which entrepreneurial orientation and education influences entrepreneurial intention. Further, as per international entrepreneurship theory, entrepreneurial intent leads to internationalization intent when facilitated by conducive environment factors. The objective of research is to investigate the influence of entrepreneurial orientation and entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial intention and internationalization intent of engineer entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka. Three hypotheses related to above links were tested using a validated questionnaire through a survey of 92 engineer-entrepreneurs. The results show that there is a significant positive relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial intention and internationalization intent of engineer entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka. The variable entrepreneurial intention explained 40% variance of internationalization intention. This research gives valuable inputs and suggestions with respect to entrepreneurship education and promotion of entrepreneurship orientation of engineers in Sri Lanka for policy makers.

The Impact of Entrepreneurial Orientation on Firm Performance: The Multiple Mediating Roles of Competitive Strategy and Knowledge Creation Process

The strategy and knowledge creation process help entrepreneurial SME managers achieve sustainable competitive advantage and firm performance. This study aims to investigate the multiple mediating roles of competitive strategies and knowledge creation processes implemented by Chinese SMEs in Thailand between their entrepreneurial orientation and firm performance. Structural equation model is used to analyze data collected from Chinese SMEs in Thailand. Results showed that (1) there is a positive relationship between perceptions of entrepreneurial orientation and perceptions of firm performance, (2) competitive strategy and knowledge creation process individually play a mediating role between entrepreneurial orientation and firm performance, and (3) competitive strategy and knowledge creation process play a chain mediating effect between entrepreneurial orientation and firm performance. This hypothesis is verified by a chained multiple mediation model, and this model has theoretical significance for understanding the relationship between perceived entrepreneurial orientation and firm performance. The competitive strategy has positive effects on SME performance and knowledge creation expands the firm’s valuable resources and actively updates firm performance.
